The fight against COVID 19 by countries across the globe is real. Barbados given its heavy dependence on tourism (services) is exposed more than some other countries. We are here now and we have to do all that we can to survive. The blogmaster predicted months ago the conversations will shift to finding ways to enforce mandatory vaccinations. It is a conversation currently taking place across the globe, including Barbados.

 

This week’s charts suggest that we might be at the start of a new wave that could last for months as was the case of the earlier 2021 waves in Jamaica, Guyana, T&T and St Lucia and with the added complication of the presence of the very virulent delta variant in the region. The signs that suggest otherwise are that the daily positivity charts are all at less than 5% over the past 3 weeks and that the Covid-19 teams are continuing their good work and that, despite the very high odds against, the aggressive work by the Authorities have so far resulted in fairly significant levels of vaccination take up. The ride will still be a rough one but everyone needs to do their part to conquer this insidious foe

    that virus was around on the island since late 2019…most people thought it was a chest infection and recovered within days, some repeated it and again recovered within days, that is why they are telling us it has a 97% recovery rate….one doctor i know had a severe chest infection, never knew it was there until another doctor got suspicious and ordered a chest x-ray….. that took a little longer to clear up, but went away without hospitalization..

    That is why we have to be extremely careful about the protocols and laws we put in place since most governments are setting some extremely scary and dangerous precedents which will prove problematic down the road.

    This is where people like Hitler started and we all know where that ended. From that we got the Nuremburg Trials and Nuremburg Code (http://www.cirp.org/library/ethics/nuremberg/).

    Note the 10 standards and how close we are to some of those standards even overstepping some of them because we have a pandemic.

    … and use your common sense.

    Don’t rely on some theses (feces) of historians who have agendas.

    Go and look around Barbados and you will see the number of place names with the word HARMONY in them.

    It is plain common sense.

    HARMONY, HOPE and CONTENT are among the most regularly appearing words in place names in Barbados.

    It is only in recent times that Bajans have become a bunch of hopeless malcontents killing one another left, right and centre.

    The facts fit the observation.

    All we can do is continue to make noise, get familiar with the appropriate laws and acts ala Employee Rights etc. and bide our time until they realize we were right or they overstep their bounds causing us harm.

    Then we can agitate for repeal of laws or we boot you out of power or we can sue like some of the other people and business owners with the resources to do so have done.

    That is one of the reasons I have been constantly asking what is the recourse in Barbados if someone is injured by the vaccine and what will happen if it is mandated and injury results from that forced mandate.

    We in Barbados like opening cans of worms expecting them to remain in the can because we tell them to stay in the open can.

    That only determines how effective certain masks are and we already know they are not 100% effective at capturing ALL of the virus. BUT… some of them will butt up on a fibre and so the viruses content in the immediate vicininity will be reduced….

    …THEREBY REDUCING THE CHANCE OF TRANSMITTING ENOUGH TO EFFECT INFECTION.

    Does a Condom prevent pregnancy 100% of the time?

    Had a nice discussion with a microbiologist who argued that the virus is too big to fit and it could therefore not be spread by desalination.

    The point that the process is a production process subject to breakdowns completely eluded the microbiologist who assumed perfection.

    1) Do you think slaves had a real vote in naming places. One could also point out that the desire to name places harmony could have been prompted by the amount of disharmony there was in the society.

    Here’s an example of balance – “Defund the Police!” STUPID! “Reform the Police! Smart. It is obvious that a police officer can err while making split second decisions under high pressure. Not all police killings of unarmed black men are as a result of racism. Each case must be examined on its own merit. But it is obvious that police officers are not always the best persons to make decisions when perhaps mental health is the issue. Some serious reform or re-imagining is necessary. But there must be policing and sometimes force is necessary.

    But John Knox saw nothing wrong with what Derek Chavin did to George Floyd. He has no problem with the police acting as judge, jury and executioner on the spot. And GP said he did not die from having a knee on his neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. Several experts disagreed. They were able to explain why. The defence’s expert was DEFENCELESS. I watched the trial.

    These people twist the facts to suit their agenda.

    People are saying enough is enough
    There rights are being eroded bit by but and they are ready to fight tooth and nail
    Govt has been put on notice by Concerned Citizens on taking govt to court

    So…. two percent deaths are not deaths???

    And does not the number of deaths correspond with the number of infections. So…. if we all catch covid how large will that number be?

    What is 2% of 280,000?

    it’s VERY CORRECT….there is only so much a vaccine can do when the variant mutates and start infecting people….that much they warned us about….

    the problem is the mutating variants, there is a new one i heard about out of Australia headed our way to the Americas..

    a kind soul warned me about it only last week and it seems resistant to vaccines so far, don’t know if that has changed..

    Trump is the only politician this side of the grave who ever actually did what he said he would do.

    Some people think it was right, some think it was wrong.

    I like the fact that he stuck to his promises because it shows other politicians it can be done.
