Our bodies are amazing. They generally maintain their internal workings themselves. We have the privilege of owning, inhabiting and directing these bodies for as long as they work – then we progress to the next stage of life.
To allow them to work for as long as possible, our bodies have several warning alerts. Once an alert is triggered, our bodies are driven to satisfy the alerted need for its survival – not ours. The intensity of the drive depends on the likelihood of harm or death. When death appears imminent, satisfying that need becomes our body’s first priority.
You may test this claim by holding your breath for an extended period. At first, you may continue to act as you did before. However, soon your body will trigger its breathing drive to satisfy its need for air. The intensity of the drive will grow until it feels unbearable to you. Your body is fighting you because you stopped it from breathing for an extended period. When you allow your body to resume breathing, the contest ends – and so does the drive.
BEING HUMAN 101.
Our bodies do several maintenance things automatically. When we eat and digest food, a portion is wasted. Our bodies alert us when this waste needs to be eliminated and we are driven to find a sanitary place. The intensity of the drive will grow until it feels unbearable. If you ignore it, your body will discharge the waste without your permission and the drive will end. Your body is not embarrassed, you are.
Our bodies alert us when they need rest to recover and we are driven to find comfortable places to sleep. If you ignore the increasing intensity of the drive, your body will eventually collapse – anywhere, without your permission. When our bodies feel pain, we are driven to find less painful environments. Depending on the actual or anticipated intensity of the pain, our bodies may react quickly, without our permission.
For humanity to survive across generations, adults must train the next generation to survive. Humans normally die within one month if they do not eat food. Therefore, adults should train children in skills they may use to earn money to buy food.
THE SEX DRIVE.
As we enter puberty, we become aware of a new drive – sex. The desire for sex drives men to mate with women and feed, clothe, shelter and protect their new families for the remainder of their lives. Women satisfying men in this manner hold extraordinary power over them and can direct them to do anything they want. Once encouraged by sex, men will do as directed or die trying – whether that thing is legal or illegal.
Governments continue to use the honeypot on their adversaries because it normally works – every time. Men easily reveal state and commercial secrets that they swore, before their governments and even God Himself to keep confidential. Sex is magical. Since the sex drive may be safely satisfied or harmfully abused, adults should train teenagers how to manage this drive responsibly.
SEX FOR COMMITMENT.
When women give men sex without any commitments to their families, they waste their magic – and damage the man. A damaged man has been convinced that sex carries no commitments. Therefore, a damaged man is not driven to do anything in return for having his need satisfied. If he later marries, he is not driven to provide for his household for a lifetime or train his children for their survival.
To respond to the epidemic of damaged men in Barbados, the Maintenance Act was passed in 1985 to force them to pay for their children’s training-to-earn-money until their children reached 18 years or later. If the child is disabled or is pursuing further education, then the damaged man is forced to pay this maintenance for an extended period.
RED LINES.
The Maintenance Act should have been a last resort while we addressed the root cause of sex-without-commitment. Instead, we promoted national promiscuity [1] while dismissing all repeated warnings, and then pretended to be alarmed at the foreseen results.
When satisfying our drives may harm others, we should deny those drives regardless of their intensities. Men driven to have sex should never consider rape as an option, whether by deception, coercion or violence. Unemployed men driven to provide for their households should never consider theft as an option.
Jesus explained that we should be prepared to deny our bodies’ needs even if it means death. He assured us that if we tried to save our lives in this brief stage of life, we would lose them in the next because our eternal souls are infinitely more valuable than our temporary bodies [2].
EMANCIPATION.
Babies are slaves to their drives. Parents have a duty to master their drives, so that they may effectively train their children to also do so. Since most children receive most of their training at school, and since Jesus explained that fully trained students will be like their teachers [3], primary, secondary and tertiary level teachers are also responsible for training our students well.
If a class of secondary school or university students are normally rude, untidy and promiscuous, it is important that their teachers are not similarly enslaved.
