This video raised its ugly rh head in Barbados last evening.

The more discerning among us are aware racism and bigotry are unwelcome human characteristics present everywhere humans exist. We accept human beings are imperfect creatures. However, it does not mean when these unsavoury qualities show its ugly head that civil society should not promote relevant policies and other measures as requires to nurture tolerance and educate fellow citizens in the interest of growing a wholesome society.

The mouthings from the person in the video is the result of many things which Barbadians have known and been tardy to addressing over the years. Crypto racism has been discussed often enough in this forum- for years. It must be addressed in a structured way. Spouting balderdash is easy for some but it will take much more to excoriate the scourge of racism and bigotry that has metastasize over centuries.

  1. .” A system where any straight forward argument is hijacked by complete jokers trying to prove how well read and educated they are.
I was told over fifty years ago that when you go after white people in our country, they don’t have to worry because there are blacks who will defend them.”

Those are the SLAVES..and no one cares if they are SOLD….it would be better for everyone if they are…we can even show them where to find them when they’re ready to sell their asses to the middle-east or wherever…no one will miss them….they are public nuisances a hindrance to Black PROGRESS and a THREAT and DIRECT DANGER TO BLACK AFRICANS EVERYWHERE…they are MARKED and BRANDED everyone are to know their names.

  2. Waru I am going to put you down as a maybe on a boycott.

  3. Lawson…..much more than that…

  4. Chill …I dont want to see you waving a knife on london bridge, Take that husband of yours out for a walk, play a little ball and enjoy the day and watch brady hammer mahones … your putz boyfriend is going to screw up my country just a matter of time, he can run around in black face and gets a pass from you guys …. crazy

Crusoe & PW miss the good old
days back on the slave plantation with some of the most degenerate, murderous Caucasians.

  6. Skinner
    We agree to some extent.
But with Greene although we detected a tinge of apologia emanating we determined that his much more radical views were tempered as determined by editorial policy. This is the Adrian Greene the once comedian, no?

  7. William Skinner Avatar

    @ Pacha
Well if Greene’s writings are “ tempered “ by editorial policy, it clearly shows that our educational system is like a love vine taking over all of us.
If a black newspaper, in a Black Country, with black ownership and a black editor can allow its only white columnist ( Hoad) to write whatever he likes, disrespecting black people every week, and Greene who is black cannot, it goes to show we are truly screwed.
Massa day far from done my Bro’

  8. I dont no the man but I agree with William if Greene wants to write a column disrespecting black people he should be able to.

  9. @Pacha

Greene is employed by a government agency.

  10. David

Thanks. That has made all the difference. Filled a big gap in knowledge. It’s alright to read but one cannot do that in isolation. One must know all the environments surrounding the writer in order to make sense of what is said and what is not mentioned. His or her interpretation of reality.
    Thanks!

  11. Before Greene tries to put lipstick on a pig with pseudo-intellectual gibberish
He needs to dust of those old history books on racism and read them
Racism is not only about words but actions done upon people by people who ways and actions are meant to hurt denied and enslaved other races from their Human rights
Presently many people of ethic races are saddled with a denial of self empowerment because of laws designed by few mostly white who have made a decision to sit at the top of the economic pole ckme what may
Yes their are the uncle Toms set up to do their bidding and in fact perpetrate similar laws actions to hurt their own people

  12. Skinner
Now we more strongly agree. However, we will now have to assess whether the Nation or Advocate could be seen as a “Black newspaper”. Has either ever been? This writer has never seen them as such.

  13. @ Mr. Skinner

Over the years we, as Black Barbadians, refused to capitalise on the several opportunities that were presented to us, in the fight against ‘racial status quo’ and exercising our ‘consumer power’ by refusing to patronise white owned businesses.

There are also examples where successive BLP and DLP administrations refused to intervene or enact the appropriate legislation in certain situations where blatant discriminatory practices were occurring.

I can go as far back as the 1970s, when Beach Vendors……. Black entrepreneurs who were legitimately earning a living selling local craft and black coral jewelry……. were ran off the beaches by white hotels owners, ably assisted by their Black security guards, under the guise vendors were selling ‘drugs’ to tourists.
To add ‘insult to injury,’ the owners built shop within the hotels to sell similar local craft and black coral jewelry. They also had hair salons where female tourists could have their hair ‘braid and bead,’ to ‘force out’ the ladies who provided those services on the beach.

During that same era when Barbados had a vibrant manufacturing sector, with furniture manufacturers such as Gary Husbands (Nassar) and John Hampden, successive BLP & DLP administrations allowed these same white hotel owners to import furniture.

Additionally, I’m always reminded of when, a few years ago, a white manager of a ‘Bizzy’ Williams owned hardware store, assaulted a Black customer. We had the usual reactionary noise in the media, which usually accompanies such incidents. One man even planned protest action and ‘on the day of reckoning,’ he STOOD ALONE outside the hardware store. The assaulted customer said he wouldn’t let the incident prevent him from continuing shopping there.

  14. One man’s opinion
It is obvious that changes must be made, but where?

It should be pointed out that both vehicular accidents will/were most likely be investigated by a black police officer whose chain of command is entirely black. Yet, some here fear that there will be an automatic outcome in favor of others.

The cogs, levers and direct control of the machinery is black. The fact that the machine produces biased results when different races are involved is not the fault of the other races

The unequal justice system that we fear is the distorted reflection of ourselves that we see when we look in the mirror.

Over 50 years of black political leadership and yet the masses find themselves in a similar or worse position than at the start of the 50 years.

We are fooled by uniforms, suits and offices filled with black bodies. It is possible that empty suits, offices and uniforms could have done a better job over 5 decades.

We confused an indoctrination rate with a literacy rate. We boast of an education system that can take the poorest and blackest politician and immediately blind him to the plight of his brothers.

In South Africa, he/she would have been called a honorary white. In Barbados we say they have pedigree. The use of the word would tell anyone that our education system has failed, that our history has not been taught and no lessons were learnt.

Changes must be made, but where?

  15. @ William

Wickham’s argument about moral equivalence between racism and homophobia is untenable. He is right, of course, that decent people avoid foul-mouth, obscene language in debates and unnecessary discrimination, but that is who we are.
To suggest moral equivalence between homosexuality and racism is like suggesting an equivalence between speeding and murder – both are crimes.
Unless someone declares his or her homosexuality, the public would not know; but a black person is obvious even to a man from the moon. That is a basic, but important difference.
This is not theoretical. The US, Canada, the EU and UK all have as part of their foreign policy LBGTQ rights.

  16. I am checking our birth records to see if Corbin was born in February 2021. I have a strong suspicion that he was born prior to this year.

It is amazing how this ugly elephant could have escaped our notice, but we were able to zero-in when an ugly pimple on its butt began to ooze pus.

Warriors across Barbados ran out to lance the ugly sore and somehow failed to see the ugly elephant.

A few will rush in to say… we saw the elephant, we pointed it out to you ..

I will not remind them that we have seen the elephant a dozen times or more, but seem incapable of dealing with it.

Let us have our quiet and restful sleep.
Let us remain contented doing nothing
    Dream on brother
    Dream of diversification
    Dream of world domination
    Sleep brother
We can tackle our problems tomorrow

  17. 99 percent black and a failure to hold the reigns of economic power would give the minority umbrage to design and defined the mirror image of who we are.
Blacks would not escape scrutiny unless their take action from the top starting with our political leaders who aligned themselves at night with the powerful and few for election profits
When one look across the economic landscape of barbados their is little that blacks own

  18. I abhor the words of Mr Corbin, but I will not walk into a forest with the aim of removing a single tree and then declaring “problem solved. We cleared the forest”.
    https://youtu.be/MrHxhQPOO2c

  19. “We confused an indoctrination rate with a literacy rate. We boast of an education system that can take the poorest and blackest politician and immediately blind him to the plight of his brothers.”

we have been telling them for years, because i know personally how it was done….we told them soft and sweet, nice and warm…rough and ready…and still they didn’t listen….alll they did was grow mostly slaveminded people who sabotage their own progress and each others’…and the engineers only had to sit and watch….and we can’t even blame them, black people especially the useless leaders, brought all of this on themselves.

  20. “Before Greene tries to put lipstick on a pig with pseudo-intellectual gibberish”

I see that you are awake and head hunting. Hopefully, you are not taking prisoners. Execution on capture.
    Have a great day.

  21. The language police is here again!

They say that “bulling” and “wicking” are anathema to the English standards as so exalted. What about “fuck”. It that so offensive as well.

We see no equivalence objections to new meanings creping in. Words like intersectionality, cancel culture, and so on. All aimed at protecting White interests, sensibilities.

Of course, the Oxford dictionary has not been challenged for acceptance of common use foul-mouthed words, even when the mouth is closed but thumbs are active.

Because White people and and their countries join a bandwagon to legitamize bulling and wicking that standard should not be acceptable to us, without question. They foreign policies have long been racist too! Both institutional racism and the promotion of bulling and wicking represent White interests.

  22. A next warm greeting to one of my heroes
Wura, our modern day John the Baptist… Preaching to hardened ears in the wilderness of BU.
May you remain strong and determined to fight.
    Have a great day.

  23. My investigative staff is checking if “Bullham” like “Wickham” is a surname.

  24. @ Pacha @ David
I often ask myself if Martin Luther King or Malcolm X had seen the world only through self preservation, where the hell would we be this morning.
We are nothing more than agents of pure cowardice , want to change the world but can’t lose a pay check.
Fortunately for us, others like King and Malcolm realized nothing is changed when allowed to remain the same.

  25. “The articles written by Adrian, Peter and Crusoe are meaningless in the context that they failed to mention the duplicity of Barbadian governments from Barrow to Mia who knowingly refused to confront and dismantle structural racism within Barbados.”

one of the first things i told Mia IMMEDIATELY she got elected, could have been the same night i wrote the post…DISMANTLE THE RACIST SYSTEM…..i told her for the benefit of and to protect the majority population AND HERSELF…but they gravitate toward the racists and thieves right away …IGNORING THE BLACK POPULATION. for 5 STRAIGHT YEARS…..until they need to beg for votes again….

THESE are THE GRAPES OF WRATH…

“YES, the impact of racism in society!

These reports are published and debated in the UK House of Lords.”

the more you tell the black governments about that the more they RESIST removing slave laws and slave codes from the statute books and the SLAVES push back against talk of reform..

“With the Barbados government unwilling to commit themselves to defend the majority population. We have a minority community who appear to be taking advantage of a lax system which allows them to treat with impunity the majority population. We also have a minority community that lives above the law aided by the government.

It is time for the majority population to rally themselves to dismantle structural racism wherever it is found on the island. Whether it be access to the beaches or availability to land for agriculture.”

It’s only the BLACK POPULATION can REMOVE THEM ALL FROM BLACK LIVES…it’s time they take a stand… AND SHUT THEM ALL DOWN…..PERMANENTLY.

  26. You too Theo…Thanks…the battle has now begun and is being fought on a higher elevation.

  27. Waru you seem to be tilting a little more to the pro boycott side. Will that include beer

  28. @ Hal
Wickham’s column was perhaps the poorest he has ever written. Wickham had allowed the nonsense that former MP Dennis Lowe said about bullers and wickers ( local slang for homosexuals) to infuriate him. While I fully support gay rights, I think Wickham by introducing Dennis Lowe’s anti gay comments , that were made a few years ago, weakened even further, a very disappointing article.

  29. Theo…Bul-len is…ya might find Bullham in UK and the surrounding areas..

  30. A little bird is telling me that the passenger who recorded and published CC’s rant is neither black, nor white.

So I am left to ask the next few questions!!

    Is he/she a Bajan?

Has he or she figured out how fragile the majority black population is?

Is this an attempt to exploit their weaknesses?

  31. Am stocked up with beer, so anything can play..when are you heading to Barbados for ya annual frolic, ya can go through US and take it from there…my neighbor got the test results and is gone..that’s all it takes..

  32. @ William

It is he moral equivalence that I find rather interesting. It is not only Wickham, but a swathe of young people who interchange homosexual rights with racism.
We always try to take the easy way out of difficult issues, rather than taxing our brains.

  33. Both Wickham and Greene are products of our educational system. Their writings on the topic , reflect the system , and should have been expected. Quite frankly what they have written is in concord with 85-90 % of what has appeared in this thread.
Even if Corbin did not “ apologise” some on BU, would have already apologized for him.

Agreed. Imagine BU is a supposedly black blog yet whenever there is a discussion of a racial nature the general tone of the comments always reflects those of the white supremacists. The so called BU ‘intelligentsia’ who never hesitate to berate the black politicians and government, hardly unpick their teeth against white supremacy. Even the blog master himself is often equivocal in his deliberations. What is BU’s real agenda?

Barbados has always been an epicenter of white supremacy. That an albino could be so emboldened, so comfortable, insulting 95% of the population – expecting no repercussions and expecting business as usual – should be no surprise. That a call to boycott white business is being seen as a great sin by many coons here is also no surprise to the Dullard.

When will black people stop parroting white talking points? When will black people focus exclusively on their agenda?

  34. Breaking News : Brotherhood of Masons rife in 3rd World

Blue colour black face crime committed by the lower class x-slave worker tribes who engages in hard manual labor, such as construction, mining, or maintenance and is unemployed is handled well in USA, UK and captured lands like in Barbados colonial plantation caribbean islands.

White collar crime where corruption and money is king is not regulated or dealt with by the law way in it’s legal system as that is how the babylonian system is designed to hold you and control you. Money gives you choices and also the means to bribe gravalicious greedy fats pigs and hire the fat cat lawyers to Trump the legal system like a Trump chump from hell, so the Criminal minded put money aside from their proceeds of crime profits to pay off officers of law and shut down cases and plan for these business expenses already.

Jails and Prisons are for Slaves class, not master class of politicians or the money men behind them pulling their strings, children. Some people are more equal than others and it’s like that that is the way it is and always has been. I don’t need to explain these simple things about the facts of life to you and you don’t need to any read books in law libraries or news papers that are designed to stupefy you, it’s intuitive and the truth is all around you like the X-files despite what they say to fool you and school you and rule you. I would like to tell you all to keep your eyes open when you walk your path in life so you don’t step in shit. When you become woke and start to speak you become a threat.

  35. @ Pacha
I hope you realised that in Wickham’s article, he did not spell out the words. That is why I deliberately used them because I personally find no problem with them. I know that Wickham finds bot to be derogatory. I do not. I bracketed the words for explanation to those who may not be familiar with them since Wickham did not spell them out.

  36. WI actually won a test match!!

    Yeah!!!

  37. “he/she a Bajan?”

MIND YOUR BUSINESS who it is…yall love to threaten people’s lives, but this time, your thieving racist asses will see.

  38. @ Dullard

    What is BU’s real agenda?….(Quote)

Guess. It is classic. Just read the history of the CIA sponsorship of periodicals such as Encounter and their feeding of information to certain journalists and intellectuals.
Or, read the Leveson report for the number of big name Fleet Street journalists who admitted under oath to being paid police informants.
As a young man working nights on the Daily Mail, myself and my colleagues would sit speculating which of the top reporters were working for which agency.
The one thing we all agreed on was that they were working for some agency, the question was which.

  39. It is a wonderful Sunday in the household of the blogmaster.

    #steuspe

  40. He /she??? you can hear its a dude filming Waru glad to hear bar solid, this should perk you up Mia is stopping the use of Viagra by her cabinet because it is the opinion on BU the politicians are phucking the sheeple 24/7 ..

  41. @ Hal
You may be on to something there. One plus one is not always two.

I must confess, this has been one of the most disappointing threads I have ever seen on BU. The absence of outrage and attempts to defend the indefensible is absolutely sickening.

  42. @ Hal
You may be on to something there. One plus one is not always two.

I must confess, this has been one of the most disappointing threads I have ever seen on BU. The absence of outrage and attempts to defend the indefensible is absolutely sickening.

  43. Skinner
Of course! And if Wickham could have introduced them, even while not spelling them, commentators including yourself have a legitimate reason for their reproduction, even in circumstances where you might not have used them yourself otherwise. But the language policeman here has no time for subtleties. No time for poetic license. His is the expansion of English cultural norms at any cost. He sees not the use of language as a leaver for cultural domination. Almost exactly the conversation had with your now deceased comrade and this writer’s influential teacher.

  44. Harold (the known undercover agent with a prior history of snitching on Guardian Angels), you may be on to something about David being a double double agent for the CIA as you will note that he has never confirmed or denied that he works for the Cosmic Intelligence Agency which is what spies do when they do what they do dabbling in dark arts. It’s not often you are right, in fact it’s a given you are well well wrong 99.9999999% of the time, but the infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type any given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare. In fact, the monkey would almost surely type every possible finite text an infinite number of times. However, the probability that monkeys filling the entire observable universe would type a single complete work, such as Shakespeare’s Hamlet, is so tiny that the chance of it occurring during a period of time hundreds of thousands of orders of magnitude longer than the age of the universe is extremely low (but technically not zero).

In this context, “almost surely” is a mathematical term with a precise meaning, and the “monkey” is not an actual monkey, but a metaphor for an abstract device that produces an endless random sequence of letters and symbols.

  47. London Underground says “Mind the Gap”
(which always reminds me of the gap between a lady or a woman’s legs directly below the navel with a hole and a tunnel in the centre)

Yes there are many a gap in my record box musical collection that has been built from digging the crates. I most def do need someone with good taste to pull my coat and give a word of advice tip for guidance which way I should go.

Thank you for the marvin guy tipoff I will do some research to study his works and will cram hard for the final exams.

Likewise have you heard about the singer songwriter Dana Gillespie who is known for her big breasts (circa 2)
