The USA is Burning

As the blogmaster is typing he is witnessing a scene in the US Capitol akin to what is associated in countries often described as banana republics. It is impossible to find the words to accurately describe events which have caused the ceremonial event of the Electoral College to be suspended as members scatter to preserve life and limb.

  • John and a few other misguided souls;

What BLM riots what? How could you all seriously equate any aspect of the conduct of the BLM demonstrations with the Trump Capitol Riot?

There were no BLM riots! The BLM protest marches were essentially ordinary marches by a wide grouping of white, black and brown; old, young and very young; grandparents, parents and children, to protest the many takings of ordinary black lives. Trump and his followers are masters of the art of focusing, mirroring and redirection of the dirty truths of their operations to befowl the actions of their opponents.

The BLM protest marches were in almost total measure diametrically opposed in all metrics to Trump’s Capitol Riot. Equating them through the term riot is antithetical to truth, reason and commonsense.

  • I heard a single article of impeachment have already been filed, one person opined that it will at least deter him from ever running for public office again.

    found the article.

“The single article of impeachment contends that President Trump’s comments about the results of the presidential election encouraged supporters to storm the Capitol and interrupt Congress’ certification of Biden’s victory. The document highlights that the president has repeatedly rejected Biden’s win and points to his phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, whom he told: “I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won the state.”

  • Not filed yet, debated on this week…he gotta go…house majority whip seems to be on it.

“Democrats, who drafted the impeachment article, claim that the president’s behavior “endangered the security” of the country and described Trump as a “threat to national security.” They write that he should be ousted from the office and prohibited from holding a public office again.

When? Democrats plan to introduce the article of impeachment today when the House goes into session. House Majority Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) said Sunday they will vote on it this week.”

  • After months of stoking anger about alleged election fraud, one of America’s largest talk-radio companies has decided on an abrupt change of direction.

Cumulus Media, which employs some of the most popular right-leaning talk-radio hosts in the United States, has told its on-air personalities to stop suggesting that the election was stolen from President Trump — or else face termination.

A Cumulus executive issued the directive on Wednesday, just as Congress met to certify Joe Biden’s election victory and an angry mob of Trump supporters marched on the Capitol, overwhelmed police and briefly occupied the building, terrorizing lawmakers and leading to the deaths of five people.

“We need to help induce national calm NOW,” Brian Philips, executive vice president of content for Cumulus, wrote in an internal memo, which was first reported by Inside Music Media. Cumulus and its program syndication arm, Westwood One, “will not tolerate any suggestion that the election has not ended. The election has been resolved and there are no alternate acceptable ‘paths.’ ”

The memo adds: “If you transgress this policy, you can expect to separate from the company immediately.

@David, ahhh Mr Blogmaster recall we touched on this matter of ‘scholarly’ defense of a “reasoned moot” … you can distrust the blogger @Austin as much as you like but he raises the eternally reasoned ‘free speech’ argument.

We all saw this man purposefully incite anger and encourage citizens to seek an overthrow of the election process but yet at every stage his language was of a standard that has allowed others to escape criminal sanction of sedition or inciting a riot!

Clearly the bull horn of a POTUS is dangerously loud and cannot be equated, for example, to that of a Louis Farrakan and his million-man march protests or that of an Al Sharpton with his most revolutionary rhetoric … but the law is the law, bro!

Mr DJT loudly asked his supporters to march (and stupidly) attempt to change a legislative process they could NOT … but despite his remarks like: “stand back and stand by”, “never concede”, and strongly encouraging a mob with lies to take “the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back [their] country” surely a Alan Dershowitz first amendment legal eagle type or the man himself could safely defend his right to say such incendiary stuff!

The law is still the law … even for jackasses and blowhards!

Buttt, of course the law of politics is argued in a different court and there he has clearly been found damanably guilty and will be ‘exiled’ … how remotely so as to reduce his lasting impact we will find out!

    I gone.

Their professions touch nearly every facet of American society: lawyers, local lawmakers, real estate agents, law enforcement officers, military veterans, construction workers, hair stylists and nurses. Among the crowd were devout Christians who highlighted Bible verses, adherents of the QAnon conspiracy theory and members of documented hate groups, including white nationalist organizations and militant right-wing organizations, such as the Proud Boys.

The list is just a limited cross section of the thousands of people who descended upon the area, yet some striking commonalities are hard to ignore. Almost all on the list whose race could be readily identified are White. Most are men, yet about one in six were women — also almost all White.”

I believe that John knows exactly what he is doing.

I believe that John is racist. Even while racism is evil is is NOT a mental illness.

When I was a little kid the man directly across the street from us, and the “street” was less than 20 feet wide, was mentally ill, multiple admissions to the psychiatric hospital. But he was not “mad” every single day. He lived alone and during the times he was well he went to work, did his shopping and housekeeping as normal. He did not threaten nor insult the neighbors, nor do anything to scare the little children. Most of the time in fact he was a very nice man.

Another man 3 houses away the same thing. In between his episodes of mental illness he was a good husband, father, neighbor and an excellent craftsman who worked hard to raise his children. Yes, sometime he was ill and had to be admitted to the psychiatric hospital, but most days he was well and carried out his responsibilities.

Our parents told us simply to leave the mentally ill people alone. Do not tease them. The mentally ill also left us alone too. Most mentally ill people in fact turn on themselves when they are ill. They typically do NOT turn on others.

John does not behave anything like these good men

There are a number of different forces battling for control of our hearts and minds. China is challenging our form of liberal democracy; nationalism has replaced traditional conservatism, and social media bosses are in effect controlling what we are allowed to say and how we say it.
Two of Voltaire’s sayings come to mind. To paraphrase: Those who can make you believe in absurdities can also make you commit atrocities and, although I disagree with what you say, I will defend to death your right to say it.
It is the old authoritarian gradualist approach. We attack X, because everybody dislikes X; then we attack Y, because most people dislike Y; then when it comes to Z, it does not matter what people say.
We had the same thing in the UK under Tony Blair. First we impose court orders for anti-social behaviour, but to disobey a court order then it becomes criminal. In short, we are now criminalising anti social behaviour.
I will give you an example of two ridiculous criminal offences in the UK. If a young man is chatting up a young woman and tells her he was what he was not ie a prince, and the lady falls for it, it is an offence.
Or, if you make false claims of jobs, qualifications etc on the internet you have committed a prima facie offence. Now we have every institution, including American social media, controlling our social manners; to ignore or disobey is to be banned.
Facebook, Twitter, etc have more power than nation states and must be stopped.

Coleman “believes she was exposed during protective isolation in the U.S. Capitol building as a result of insurrectionist riots. As reported by multiple news outlets, a number of members within the space ignored instructions to wear masks,” the press release said.

The riots came as lawmakers were certifying the election results inside the Capitol building. Trump supporters who had just attended a rally where the president spoke and urged them to march on the Capitol stormed the building, scaling walls and shattering windows to enter the halls.

Five people died during the riots, including a Capitol police officer as well as a Trump supporter who was shot by law enforcement while inside the building.

In another twist, Coleman had already received a shot of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Shame on you. Cake Shop and Facebook or Twitter refusing your business is different as the cake shop is not a monopoly so they had options. Monopolies need to be treated differently and blocked from de-platforming unless they break a law and be subjected to pay the person large sums of money if they do.

When the censorship starts where will it stop. Do you known millions have been de-platformed from Facebook and Twitter for being a member or merely being associated with groups.

An example is Facebook group where people would simply post their experiences and employees, volunteers and contractors (e.g. videographers, technicians, etc.) associated with the group were all de-platformed.

You are a contractor. Do you want these monopolies e.g. Flow disrupting your business because you did a job for someone they don’t like e.g. a competitor. You can’t stand Trump. Some people can’t stand you. I am sure the victimization has happened to you and you hated it.

Free Speech is not easy especially when someone says things you can’t stand but that is only thing preventing the rise of totalitarianism in any form i.e. leftism, rightism, fascism, etc. Right now we are seeing the rise of some sort of totalitarianism.

  • Majority opinion
The Court issued its ruling on June 4, 2018, ordering a reversal of the decision made by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission. The majority opinion was written by Justice Anthony Kennedy, and joined by Chief Justice John Roberts, and Justices Samuel Alito, Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan and Neil Gorsuch. The opinion stated that although a baker, in his capacity as the owner of a business serving the public, “might have his right to the free exercise of his religion limited by generally applicable laws”, a State decision in an adjudication “in which religious hostility on the part of the State itself” is a factor violating the “State’s obligation of religious neutrality” under the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution.[27][original research?] Kennedy’s opinion stated that the Commission’s review of Phillips’ case exhibited hostility towards his religious views. The Commission compared Phillips’ religious beliefs to defense of slavery or the Holocaust. Kennedy found such comparisons “inappropriate for a Commission charged with the solemn responsibility of fair and neutral enforcement of Colorado’s anti-discrimination law”.[28] Kennedy’s opinion also cited the three exemptions the commission previously granted for the non-discrimination law arising from the William Jack complaints. The opinion also noted differences in handling previous exemptions as indicative of Commission hostility towards religious belief, rather than maintaining neutrality.[29] Kennedy’s opinion noted that he may have been inclined to rule in favor of the Commission if they had remained religiously neutral in their evaluation.[30]

Black GOP Congressmen who joined the Trump coup must resign

Republican House members Reps. Burgess Owens and Byron Donalds delegitimized the votes of Black Americans and desecrated the blood of our ancestors

Two newly-elected Black Republican congressmen signed up in support of the attempted Trump coup and overturn the 2020 presidential election — now it is time for them to resign.

These men joined a conspiracy to delegitimize the votes of Black Americans and desecrated the blood of our ancestors. And their act of sedition resulted in the White supremacist siege on the Capitol.

The two House members are Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT), the former NFL player with ties to the QAnon pro-Trump conspiracy cult, and Byron Donalds (R-FL), a Black conservative and former Tea Party activist. Prior to the U.S. Capitol siege, Owens and Donalds joined the more than 100 Republicans who announced they would reject the Electoral College votes of certain states that brought presidential victory to Vice President-elect Joe Biden.

Owens, who calls himself the “anti-Colin Kaepernick” and labeled Black Lives Matter “a Marxist organization” comparable to the Ku Klux Klan, spoke at the Republican National Convention last year, praising Trump’s record on race.

Owens tweeted that he was proud to join his GOP colleagues challenging Biden’s Electoral College certification. “This is not about ‘overturning an election’. This is about protecting the integrity of our elections,” he tweeted. Alliance for a Better Utah, a Utah-based government watchdog group has called for Owens’ resignation.

  • Bill Belichick turns down Presidential Medal of Freedom from Donald Trump, cites Capitol attack

    Mon, January 11, 2021, 6:43 PM CST

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick won’t accept the Presidential Medal of Freedom he was scheduled to receive from President Donald Trump, he announced Monday.

News broke on Sunday that Trump intended to bestow the honor on the longtime NFL coach. The news was met with criticism in the aftermath of last week’s attack on the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob.

Belichick cited the attack in his announcement.

“Recently, I was offered the opportunity to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which I was flattered by out of respect for what the honor represents and admiration for prior recipients,” Belichick wrote. “Subsequently, the tragic events of last week occurred and the decision has been made not to move forward with the award.

“Above all, I am an American citizen with great reverence for our nation’s values, freedom and democracy. I know I also represent my family and the New England Patriots team.

“One of the most rewarding things in my professional career took place in 2020 when, through the great leadership within our team, conversations about social justice, equality and human rights moved to the forefront and became actions. Continuing those efforts while remaining true to the people, team and country I love outweigh the benefits of any individual award.”

Federal authorities are warning state and local law enforcement about threats of possible violence by right-wing extremists at a series of protests planned for later this month in Washington and in state capitols, according to an FBI document obtained by Yahoo News.

The situational information report, produced by the Minneapolis field office of the FBI, is based on information provided by what it describes as “collaborative sources,” and was issued the week before a mob of Trump supporters violently stormed the U.S. Capitol. It addresses concerns about rallies that the far-right boogaloo movement plans to hold in cities across the country on Jan. 17.

Actually I suspect that if u are indeed smartly using that God given brain box of yours that you would see this as a buy opportunity …. well or wait for a few more points off the top, if there is still a bottom to go.

Twitter is still the biggest megaphone of its type so until Parler or others on the right get a footing it will be worth its investment .

Dont be so stupid to catch at this Trump straw … the POTUS ac will be turned over to Biden in a few days anyhow thus many of that 70 plus million will drop off until Biden gets his cheering section replacement … we dont know how Biden will use the service but definitely NOT like this man, so its overall popularity may decline.

Regardless, ‘TWTR’ has much investment interest left yet!

Get out of your la la land!

Apart from the NY Bar looking to remove lying lawyers… they should be sanctioned and lose their licences generally.

An officer of the court is duty bound to present info with integrity and when you edit a video that shows legitimate ballots being securely stored for the night and re-issue a version which you purport shows illegitimate and previous unknown ballots being newly introduced to the ballot count you SHOULD be disbarred or censured with suspension .

Additionally when the US Justice Dept and FBI report that they are increasing sanctions to associates of a Ukraine politician Andrii Derkach who they allege is now KNOWN as a Russian asset for many years and who they report fabricated “malicious narratives that U.S. Government officials have engaged in corrupt dealings in Ukraine” one wonders why the PRIVATE lawyer of the POTUS who was one of those persons who associated closely with this man’s false data is still not sanctioned.

One also has to wonder again about Manchurian candidates and why RUSSIA continues to be a major nexus for this administration.

The most depressing irony is to consider that one of these mob ‘patriots’ type may be the same protagonist to bring Trump his final act when the truth of his ‘friendship’ to the russian mother country is exposed!

    Such is life.

Looka, I am not going to get I to a balance sheet debate with a man of your delusional rantings so let’s leave it here.

Uber, Lyft, as examples were been ‘losing money’ for a while yet their IPOs were off the charts and they have continued to bubble along ok thus far… Twitter is not that much different in that general sense.

  • Between Trump and Rush, Twitter may lose over 100 million in audience.

Its revenues are probably from advertisers wanting to access that 100 million.

The idea was to separate Trump from his supporters but that is not possible!!

Twitters revenues will fall, probably like a rock and through the floor!!

The Democrats expected the voters to repudiate Trump. the opposite happened.

Trump is real, Twitter etc are imaginary.

Twitter needs Trump et al more than Trump et al need Twitter.

Twitter probably lost 60% plus of its audience!!

Trump will make a killing, if he wants to!!

The advertisers will come to him because what’s left on Twitter like freeness and don’t spend money!!

    The market will adjust.

You do know that no one here (or any rational people) take Limbaugh seriously?

A lesson for the young readers here and anywhere actually. Just because a person has some intelligence, or is able to qualify and practice successfully in a chosen field, does not necessarily correlate with global intelligence or rational behaviour.

Whether due to personal or environmentally driven bias, or simply due to lack of emotional intelligence, or just a very narrow minded ability to truly understand only one area, there are many examples of people, such as Ben Carson, who have excelled in one narrow field, but shown abysmal judgement in other areas.

Of course, taking Carson, one knee jerk is simply to see him as a typical Uncle Tom. But really, it shows that brilliance in one area can be matched by idiocy in another.

So, young people should use this as cautionary, in understanding who to follow, who to use as role models.

  • It is well known that law enforcement agencies have long been penetrated by these extremists groups.

Expect a purge come after January 21, after suitable investigations. And no, it will not be a witchhunt. It will be getting rid of unsuitable people who should never have been in the force to begin with.

Is it any wonder that black people are shot and beaten by police, when some of them are actually extremists in sheep clothing?

Those police in the Capitol should not just be fired, they should be locked up for a minimum of ten years, for violating their oath. They risked the lives of both Congressmen and Senators.

Any House or Senate member who does not support a full cleanup of police agencies would have ti be an extremist themselves.

W£e are going down the wrong path when a private company such as Twitter can ban anyone from speaking out, even if we disagree with what that person has to say. It is worse when that person is the titular most powerful person in the world. What is the message being sent?
Facebook, Twitter, Google and all the leading social media companies must be controlled. Today it is Trump, but who will be next?

But a criminal who breaks every law, norm, tradition known to God and man has some right to execute an insurrection from a seat of power. What ignorance.

Donald John Trump should have been dragged out of Casa Blanca and executed on Thursday morning last.

Is that the same position you take when the contributions from our own ‘enlightened’ Pachamama are seen as ‘heretical’ (in your eyes only) with you constantly asking for him, Pacha, to be treated as persona non grata on BU?
