I applaud President Obama for the bold reforms to the nation’s broken immigration system, albeit temporary. Immigration reform does not only impact our Latino brothers and sisters. Hundreds of thousands of immigrants from the Caribbean, South America and Africa now qualify for relief from the threat of deportation and will become eligible for lawful employment.
Almost all undocumented immigrants from the Caribbean and Guyana enter the United States lawfully but overstayed their visas and thus are out of status. A large percent has children and/or spouses who are either US citizens or permanent residents. Thousands more arrived before their sixteenth birthday but are ineligible for DACA because they are currently above age thirty-one. They have all lived here for a long time – decades in some cases, and are law abiding. America is their home. They deserve a shot at the American dream. Thanks to President’s initiates, they can now emerge from the shadows to pursue that dream, once they pass a criminal background check and pay any back taxes accrued.
This is a historic day for America – A nation of immigrants. Millions of families will remain united and millions of people will without fear begin to contribute to society and the US treasury. Economists forecast that this could boost GDP by over $1 trillion.
Republicans are not only opposing President Obama. They are attacking the relatives of millions of US citizens who vote, as well as millions of US permanent residents who will soon become voters. When these millions of Americans go to the polls to exercise their franchise, they will remember who stood with them and fought to keep their families united and who fought to tear their families and the nation apart!

I’m tired of people writing that Obama should do this or Obama should do that, race issues didn’t begin with Obama and they won’t end with him, the moment Obama steps up in any meaningful way he will be seen as pandering to Blacks when he is President of the USA. After the midterm both houses of Congress Senate are led by Republicans, I don’t hear the same noise about Boehner or McConnell speaking up aren’t they leaders too whose voices are noticeably silent on racial issues? Perhaps their constituencies like it that way after all “Race”? We don’t see a “Race” issue.
These police shootings are becoming epidemic, and I expect that when Obama leaves Office then some people will say where are the leaders of the “black community” as if we are a community that only responds to admonitions from the pulpit, civil rights leaders etc. when the white community harbours no such illusions.

Therein lays our differences why are these considered minor problems? Does an issue become a problem only if there are riots? There are many other similar incidents which have not raised a ripple on the collective conscience of the US but for many people in marginalized communities they are like Chinese water torture which the longer it continues the more likelihood that the recipient will finally break or go berserk.

I do agree that Moneybrain may harbor some prejudices against a certain segment of the Black community, nonetheless he alone ought not to be single out as a scapegoat. Furthermore, I have read a lot of the reprehensible things Georgie Porgies has said about the blacks who are protesting against years of police injustices in Ferguson and his shortsightedness regarding the true etiology of the enflamed emotions now being played out in the black community of Ferguson Missouri. Those who have had a better understand of the circumstances surrounding this latest incident, are cognizant of the fact that the shooting of the unarmed black teenage has brought what had been year’s resentment against the white police establishment to a boiling point.
And yet I have seen anyone with enough balls repudiate the disparaging comments PG has and continues to level at the blacks in Ferguson Missouri. Now let us be impartial in our fair distribute of blame. Yes, I do agree that some of Moneybrain’s comments did trouble me, but they’re not to be compared to what Georgie Porgie has articulated here about black folks in America.

The origin of the racial problem that exists between blacks and whites stems uniquely from the history of white Europeans (your race). The mass land grab of Australasia, Africa and the Americas was rooted in unbridled and unashamed racism.
My question to you would be how do you and your race resolve this problem? What is intractable, divisive and simply impossible to fix: race problems
Conservatives call for self-help, the burn-that-midnight oil-pick yourself up mantra and liberals demand state-help, the we-are-too-down-trodden and laden-with-discrimination-to-climb-out-on-our-own help.
This debate was raging in late 1800s/eary1900s by Booker T Washington and W.E.B duBois and rages on today with modern day actors and still we are at each others throats.
We also have the KKK on one hand with their strident, hatefl bias and the black power leadership on the other with the emphatic in-your-face anger of whites.
Some whites who still cling to a concept of blacks staying back are appalled by attitudes and blacks who have absolutely no intention of being 2nd class anything agitate and seek a retribution.
Through this all there is a missed component by both sides: both sides on the lower end of the social ladder need to be uplifted and educated;
both sides in the middle-class of that ladder need to lose their class prejudices and snobbish attitude
and that 1% – 5% wealthy ruling class need to understand that people cannot live above poverty at the avg retail industry wage or that CEO-worker wage discrepancies can’t be 779 times the average worker wage. ( Avg/hourly $8.86; CEO’s hourly compensation: $6,898/h- $35M/y; Wal-Mart Corp, an example, 2010).
Whites will not relinquish power (why would they?) and blacks can’t take it with force. Insane thought.
So despite the palaver to the contrary blacks can only move forward with continued education and political savvy and drive those to gain financial and other persuasive power. Coupled with legal and purposeful agitation, continued control, training and investigation of authority are all part of the tool kit to a better platform for blacks.
There are many out there who understand the real fight and are placing the emphasis in the right places. Thankfully.

Please list in priority sequence the issues that Obama should focus on as they relate to the lives of black people, while awaiting yours I’ll list two things he has done which impact the vast majority of black people.
1) Health care Reform: This law impacts the lives of countless poor and middle class blacks than any recent initiative, it also impacts the lives of millions of whites too all in a positive way but you if you pay attention to the noise coming from the other side one may never know it.
2) Fixing the economic mess: Having inherited the worst economic crisis since the Depression, Failing Banks, auto industry implosion, sub- prime loans, an out of control housing crisis and sky high unemployment, the man helped to stabilize the economy. Which segment of the population suffered the most from the foregoing? Who was disadvantaged more by the foregoing? If the economy is in the basket who is likely to suffer most, those at the top or those at the bottom?
If we take No. 2 for instance don’t you think that higher employment among black people would solve the issue that to your mind is the most important peril that the community faces? How do you get to define a problem and your only solution is that Obama should convene A & B to talk and talk and talk. Oprah’s white women my foot, after the taping is over they go back to their suburban lawns and their coffee klatches, she has no impact beyond her show.
The focus is not on the “thug”, I said already that there are no perfect victims what about the 12 year old who was shot 2 seconds after the policeman got out of his car? What about the man in NYC who decided to take the stairs and was shot by an NYC policeman (who was labelled a rookie cop despite 19 months on the job)

Why would the police shoot him? Georgia is an “open carry” State which means that with few exceptions one can strap a handgun on their waist and waltz down the street. I used to think that the US legislators would rethink those laws if black men started to open carry but the reverse is true, if you are black and observed carrying a weapon in public you are more likely to be taken down by those who “serve and protect” as happened to this man who took a BB gun from the shelf while shopping at Walmart and was shot by the Police while on the phone with his girlfriend.
BTW Ohio is also an “open carry” State.

Solving racial tension should certainly be easier today than ever before in history. There are a multitude of black sportsmen, black entertainers, the Pres, the Atty Gen, very highly rated black TV / Film personalities black business peeps/ professionals, so the whites should certainly be more accepting of black people than any time in history. What is being conducted to make progress? Pushing forward with hoods and thugs front and centre does NOT seem like a good campaign to me.
The situation in Ohio is ridiculous BUT the PO seems to have been straightforward, the PO would have to checkout the complaints because in the event that it was valid and he failed to investigate his job would be on the line. Some of the public think that officers should try to disarm someone armed with a knife but anyone who has had training in knife fighting will tell you even if you win, you are going to get cut. Keep this in the back of your mind when confronting someone armed with an edged weapon.
If you are 21 feet away from a criminal with a knife, you are potentially 3 seconds away from being cut. Most PDs train to shoot at that distance if the perp wont stop.
