Pat Hoyos

Many have been asking what is it Pat Hoyos said on last Sunday’s Brasstacks which caused Minister Denis Kellman to exact an immediate apology. Here is what BU can confirm.

Last Sunday during the airing of the Brass tacks programme, listeners heard Pat Hoyos [moderator] make an apology to Minister Denis Kellman and many wondered what it was that Mr Hoyos had said that caused him to make the apology. It has now been found out. During a break, and unknown to Hoyos and the others appearing on the programme, one of whom was Mr Clyde Mascoll [Barbados Labour Party chief spokesman on economic matters], that the line was still open to Mr Kellman, Hoyos remarked in relation to the Minister Kellman “I give he five minutes and he talking bare shite “. Kellman insisted on an immediate apology before continuing his contribution. The apology immediately came from Hoyos.

Certainly VOB cannot allow this man Hoyos to continue to disrespect persons who do not share his views .

What is his agenda ?

Do you accept given the details known that we are drawing conclusions which leaves the door open for other positions to enter the frame? Why can’t we all agree it looks bad on Thompson based on what we know but we have to wait for a final position to know absolutely.

  2. Let’s apply that principle to all. just saying.

  3. @enuff

    agreed!

  4. the heart of the matter is the 3.3million or has it shifted to an “invoice”

And i incoherently say again that the BLP is spreading LIES and DECEIT stating that the Golbal recession does not have any IMPACT on the Barbados economy and that is a bold faced Lie with an intent of bambozziling the electiorate hell bent by the BLP into winning the election. incoherant or otherwise that is the TRUTH.

We all know that this CLICO poo as you call it , by design….by dispatch ..by what ever tactics being used, will NOT be resolved until years from now and all those nasty worthless pension robbers will have escaped justice…so don’t play wid Onions baby….Elections will also be called before then, but we DUN KNOW who are the culprits..even though you won’t admit it.BUT you are not important….the PEOPLE KNOW….you think 130,000 policyholder ain’t votes ? They will be the swords in your backsides…..so you continue to play your so called game…THE PEOPLE KNOW…no perception…no need for courts….You all will pay them when the time comes…..an X against you..ALL your FINGERING as you think you are doing will be to yourselves…”let the courts my backside.

  20. You know the people so far have only be given one side of the story and wether one agrees or disagrees until the other side is heard we can only specualte or interject or political biases and called them FACTS. No one knows the whole story, the bearers of the message themselves is setting an agenda to clear them of any misdoing bearing in mind that they don’t want to be blame for the downfall of Clico and the pensioners money. People would do and say anything to protect themselves so until the justice system take full control of this CLICO debacle nothing i hear or see i would belive especially by those whose only interest is to cover there as.sss .

  21. At this stage what you think is not important…..Cheque # ……….written to bearer.. DT Assos…….from CLICO & Co.LTD….signed ^^^^^^^^^^^
    For amount…………….$3,300,000.00 Bds

    is what ISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Its not over to the justice system yet. Further investigation by those authorised to do so is necessary first. Rejoice not less what is unearthed gives paid to what inkling is already there.

  24. @ac,
It was Parris and DT money to do with whatever they dam pleased.the political myth going around that DT stole money f rom Clico is just a myth and one that the BLP is hoping that would garnish enough support for them to win the election. but the public is not dumb as they would want to believe . . Unlike THE general who tried to pull a hat trick out of his magician bag with campaign funds……………………

Are you for real? Do you live in the real world? It WAS NOT Parris and the dead king’s money. It was the policyholders monies that they were theifing. The dead king was helping his friend find ways of getting the policyholders monies out of CLICO. In other words they both were committing FRAUD…. that means stealing, white collar crime.

  25. @Prodigal Son

You are correct that someone on behalf of Parris needs to explain how he could have become a multi millionaire working for a company which has a serious asset deficit.

    It does not compute.

  26. I think PArris had legal contract with the Top BRASS at CLICO which guaranteed him wages and benefits and likewise DT and associate similar contracts on how the law Firm would be PAID .On the money that Parris was making so far the possibilty is that he had made him several investment that paid him good dividends would not be surprised !

  27. old onion bags Avatar

    @ac
Would it be any surprise to you to know ..if all of these transfers of commissions to EPR’s…. or what they so called…..were declared as TAXABLE INCOME first and taxes paid to the Commissioner of Inland revenue ? Facts may show different.

  28. Bu- the pat hoyos gaffe pales into insignaficance when compared to the alleged involvement of the former PM into the CLICO imbroglio where thousands of Barbadians are on the verge of losing their savins and investments with the disgraced company. Why have you allowed suchy significant an issue to die a natural death on the forum? isn’t this issue of such importance to the bu family that you ensure that the ponzi issue is ventilated to the fullest?

  29. @balance

    Amazing to your last comment.

  30. the matter was muddied david bu when you chose to publish off the air comments made by mr hoyos about mr kellman. That too was a breach of confidentiality. it seems we are fast moving in the sordid direction where nothing can be said in private. the laws of nature seem to have a unique way of redressing the imbalance seemingly reminding us that what goes around comes around. who could think that after holding up mr arthur’s cheque personal or otherwise to ridicule that there would be questions in the public domain of the receipt by him of a cheque for 3.3 million representing a dubious payment to mr parris.

  31. @balance

You are entitled to your unifocal view. Feel free to agree or disagree.

  32. From today’s Nation:
But in an interview with the SATURDAY SUN, Sinckler said Barbadians should not expect a public comment from him or the Prime Minister on the explosive report until the FSC has done its work.

Yet in another matter then under investigation and incomplete, the same Sinckler was quick to speak The more the Dems talk, or don’t for that matter, the clearer their strategy on this CLICO Forensic Audit is becoming.

    Advocate 1/19/2009
Report will leave Barbadians in shock

LAUGHTER, amazement, depression and anger will be the reaction of the general public when the forensic audit of the Urban Development Commission (UDC) is revealed. This is according to Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment Urban and Rural Development Chris Sinckler while speaking at Oistins last night, when he stated that the findings of the audit will soon be released. He was at the time outlining the strategies put in place by himself, and former Minister of the UDC Dr. Denis Lowe to remedy this “dysfunctional institution” and to clean up the mess that was found by the previous administration. Describing the state of the UDC, he said that there was corruption “past the skies”, adding that some “prominent” people may have a few questions to answer when the audit is finished.“I have told them very clearly if you find any infelicities that impinge on the criminal laws on Barbados do not send it to me, send it to the Commissioner of Police or the Director of Public Prosecutions,” he said. He told the crowd in attendance of the “phantom” contractors that were awarded contracts and lamented that there are a number of houses that were constructed but are still missing. Minister Sinckler stated, however, that these houses are being found daily.

  33. Why don’t you accept that at this stage the matter is open to investigation? Why engage in a circular debate? The invoice reported on by the JMs is suspicious and merits proper investigation to get at the truth. It is premature to be so absolute in our positions

NOW YOU ARE MUDDYING THE WATER.

  34. “Describing the state of the UDC, he said that there was corruption “past the skies”, adding that some “prominent” people may have a few questions to answer when the audit is finished.“I have told them very clearly if you find any infelicities that impinge on the criminal laws on Barbados do not send it to me, send it to the Commissioner of Police or the Director of Public Prosecutions,” he said. ”

hammie-la beware. you were in charge of that department under the BLP for most of the time it was functioning until your removal. any distasteful report about the affairs of the UDC must of necessity include you. remember the $10.000 paid by you and your nemesis obrien trotman for cutting down the tree.

  35. ac – if i wrote a personal cheque to you , in whose account would you have to deposit it to have it cashed? and if i wrote it to you on behalf of a third party, inwhose account would you have to deposit it to have it cashed? now after examing these two scenarios, at what stage could you be accused of thieving the cheque? now deal with those questions first unemotionally and then we would move to phase 2 but not as long as the PM though. awaiying your response. and like you i am no fan of MR Arthur although i am on record as applauding his management of the economyof barbados during his term in office mistakes notwithstanding.

  36. @ balance
That was over THREE years ago and as usual all hot air, but can’t comment on the CLICO audit. Excuses, excuses, excuses!

  37. @ balance
As I have said before, the audit also refers to cheques written to associates including David Thompson not the company but the individual, which I interpret to be similar to that given to Owen Arthur. However, ac keeps conveniently ignoring those.

  38. @enuff

You are aware that the Urban Matter is not sub judice right?

    @balance

We have an Interim report which now has to be placed under the examination of the regulator (FSC) hence the reason why absolute conclusions cannot be made.

It is really a commonsense thing, the transactions being suspicious not the issue at all because all are agreed on that score.

  41. Here is an extract taken from Nation today:

The forensic audit, much of which was first published in the MIDWEEK NATION on February 22, has created a political firestorm, with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart facing condemnation for not speaking publicly to the issue, even though other leaders throughout the Eastern Caribbean added their voices to the controversy.

Can anyone spot the unprofessionalism in the extract?

  43. @ David

I am also aware that sub judice is being used as an excuse. No one is asking for the government to pass judgement or give an opinion on the matter. What is so wrong about having a press conference (which this government promised to be the norm) to update the public rather than forced into commenting? Just imagine if that document did not fall off a truck.

The BLP meeting at Haggatt Hall was sub judice then lmao.

  44. @enuff

    Update the public about what?

    To be clear.

  45. Update the public about what?

about reports forensic and otherwise, no-reports and otherwise- hardwood, st joseph hospital, clico.

    NationBLPnewspaper

Pat Hoyos campaigning again with his lies in the Sunday Sun today. “Coincidence” that his article almost word by word reflects what Clyde Mascoll said on the last Sunday sham of a call in programme which Hoyos “moderated”.
The evidence of Hoyos agenda is unfolding week by week with weak columns and onesided partisan vitriol. How lower will the Nation newspaper sink?
I understand Pat Hoyos’s brother finances the BLP and surely the Nation is well aware of this. The only conclusion therefore is the Nation is clearly following a BLP script from the editors working with the operatives at Roebuck Street to foist Hoyos’s crap on the public.

Starcom can only save face and any semblannce of fairness and impartiality by showing this intellectual flyweight the door.
He adds nothing to the debate!

The Nation with its current leadership obviously does not seem to have the will or moral compass to be fair and balanced.
Barbadians are now seeing the Nation newspaper putting party before country. Maybe we should expect that given its current ownership and editors.

  49. still awaiting ac’s response to my simple questions.

  50. @balance
Your comparison is like comparing apples an oranges. As with any organisation there are special bank accounts in place with names and individuals to have access for the purpose of financial transactions or any day to day activities which involved the organisation. as in the case of the cheque one would assume that as leader of the party or organisation OSA would be permitted such a privilege as to have access to such an account with the granted permission to make deposits or withdrawals providing its use is for the sole purpose of the organisation.therfore there was absolutely no reason for him to deposit said cheque which sole purpose was for the Party into his personnel account when he could have deposited it in the BLP account. This in my opinion was unethical and made him look like a THIEF. Your analogy would have been supportive if this was an individual basis.
