Binyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel
Binyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel

A United Nation inquiry has made the claim that Israel engaged in:

…a deliberately disproportionate attack designed to punish, humiliate and terrorise a civilian population in Gaza.

It further asserted that some individuals should face:

individual criminal responsibility and both Hamas and the Israeli committed war crimes and possible crimes against humanity

Although the inquiry subjected Hamas to censure it was not as severe as that on Israel. The conflict Dec 2008 – Jan 2009 – debated on BU ( Barbados Underground)  – was as a result of tunnels built by Hamas to circumvent the Israeli blockade being bombed by Israel.  Hamas intensified their belligerence and fired rockets into Southern Israel in retaliation, causing panic in the civilian population.  In the resultant war when the Israeli Military crossed into Gaza, in excess of 1,300 Palestinians were killed including 320 children, official figures gave the Israeli death toll as 20.

Due to the high number of Palestinians who lost their lives and the disproportionate force used by Israel with consequent civilian damage in Gaza, pressure was put on the UN to conduct an inquiry. The UN chose the  experienced and respected South African Judge Richard Goldstein, he came with a background  suited to the task.  “He was the Chief Prosecutor for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunals for the Yugoslavia and Rwanda from 15 August 1994 to September 1996. He was a member of the International Panel of the Commission of Enquiry into the Activities of Nazism in Argentina ( CEANA ) established in 1997 to identify Nazi war criminals who had emigrated to Argentina.”

The UN inquiry has called for an independent investigation, if this is not done the matter should be referred to the International Criminal Court.

Israel has been robust in their defence of the military action taken in Gaza.  Saying their accusers are against Israel, this is not surprising as the allegations against Israel are serious indeed: the inquiry noted  “Grave breaches” of the fourth Geneva Convention and of a war crime for using Palestinians as human shields.”

It is difficult to understand the reasoning behind Israel’s claim that the accusers are against Israel.  Richard Goldstein – chairman of the UN inquiry – is Jewish and a very experienced Judge, with close ties to Israel.

Mark Regev the Israeli government spokesman has said:…”the Israeli Government is conducting its own investigation into the conflict”.  However, Judge Goldstein responded that ” the Israeli investigations are being conducted behind closed doors and as such are not to an “acceptable standard”.

Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu condemned the report as a “kangaroo court”, a charge which does not carry much credence because the Israeli Government refused to participate in the UN investigations…thus having no  input.

Judge Richard Goldstein’s daughter with less hyperbolic language is reported to have said:

“My father is a Zionist who loves Israel.”

“I know better than anyone else that he thought however hard it was to accept it, he was doing the best thing for everyone, including Israel,…”He is honest, tells things how he sees them and wants to uncover the truth.”

  2. Mankind’s Sinful Nature is Against God

Those Who Love Sin, Hate God

    Mankind is Prone to Destruction

God is Longsuffering With the Wicked, but Not Forever

    The Wicked Will Be Punished

Judgment is Coming to the United States and the World

Why Blame God for the Chaos in the World—- isnt mankind in charge of the evils that they do?

  3. QUESTION:

AS MUAMMAR GADDAFI IS CURRENTLY SPEAKING AT THE UN – IF ANYONE FOLLOWING HIS SPEECH – IS IT A RANT OR IS THIS LEADER MAKING SENSE OR WHAT?

  4. Gaddafi is offering a real “spanking” to the international community – the only person in this whole wide world who has the “BALLS” to speak the truth in the way he has…

    WOW!!!!

    Unreal….

  5. X, I don’t underestimate the significance of events abroad, I assure u, and share ur concern for future developments in Bim. However, there’s sparingly little that we as individuals can do about this except to cast our votes every five years, or so – at least, thank god, we still have that right! The alternative would be anarchy which nobody, with a working brain, desires. It was with these kinds of considerations in mind that I thought to suggest a discussion of Obama’s speech at the UN, today. R u agreeable, Dave or, perhaps, it was n’t that important, in your estimation!!

  6. Terence, Gadaffi, who stole power from somebody else who he overthrew in an illegal coup many years ago, is n’t taken seriously by many, not to mention sponsoring the spread of terrorism throughout the world. Did u notice that a number of representatives walked out when he took the podium so, why do u admire him so!!

  7. Some one on this blog posted this passage, but he didn’t comment on it. Permit me to comment on it here today.

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us” -Psalm 2:1-3

Mankind has always been against God and His Word. God uses men for His purposes.

We read in Acts 4:26-28 that is was God who controlled all the events in Christ’s crucifixion, “For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.”

No man could have laid a hand upon Jesus if it had not been God’s divine will. Nevertheless, the Bible says that there was a conspiracy against Jesus to destroy him (Herod, Pilate, the gentiles and Israel).

That conspiracy has continued over the centuries against the disciples of Christ, Christians. The animosity has been snowballing as it has come down through the centuries, and it will break out finally in a worldwide revolution against God and His Children. Just as the lost world hated Jesus Christ, so it hates His disciples.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12).

Why do the heathen rage? Why are they so adamant against the Lord Jesus? John 3:20 tells us, “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved” (John 3:20).

Mankind loves sin! A man would rather burn in hell for an eternity, than to repent from his sins and come to the Lord for forgiveness. Notice, I did not say “give up” his sins–there’s a big difference. To be saved, one must condemn his own sins; thus, in so doing he has repented (or changed his mind about his sinful condition).

“Repentance” is a “change of mind” about yourself, your sins and the Savior. Whereas you used to reject Jesus, think you were a good person and think sin was acceptable–Now you accept Jesus, realize your a wicked sinner and condemn the sins in your life.

The Hue Hefner’s and the Madonna’s of the world love their sins and REFUSE to see themselves as sinful. They REFUSE to come to Christ, ” lest his deeds should be reproved” (John 3:20). They REFUSE to repent! They REFUSE to change their mind about their sinful lifestyles (fornication, adultery, nudity, filthiness, lasciviousness, greed, lust, sodomy, drunkenness, etc, etc.) They are servants of Satan!

I hear worldly people all the time trying to rationalize their sins. They say, “What’s wrong with smoking, tobacco grows naturally doesn’t it?” And doggy-doo-doo is natural also but you don’t eat it do you? They say, “Adam and Eve were naked and not ashamed, so why should I feel ashamed for posing nude in a porno magazine?”

Because Adam and Eve were the only two people in the world at the time. Do you see how foolish the hearts of the wicked can be? There is NO justification for sin–NONE. Just because you are poor does NOT give you the right to steal. Just because you grew up in a cruel home does NOT give you the right to abuse your family. Just because someone cheated you does NOT give you the right to be a crook.

We must all stand individually before our Creator in judgment. “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12). Do right! Do right! Though the stars fall, do right!

I believe the world is fast approaching the end. With all the nuclear warheads and wars breaking out across the globe, how much longer can this world last as is. If you think we are entering into a new-age, where the world will enjoy a one-world agenda, economy, religion and government–your nuts! Oh, it will happen, but it will be the beginning of the end. The end being that snowball I mentioned earlier–a worldwide revolution against God.

They will be put down and destroyed at the battle of Armageddon. There will NEVER be true lasting peace in this world until the Lord Himself reigns as King from Jerusalem.

War is a heart-disease amongst humanity. People’s hearts are evil and set to do mischief. A young Palestinian mother recently blew herself up in a homicide bombing in Israel. Her little baby left with no mother. Can you really tell me that you believe this will come to an end? It surely will not! Not until Jesus returns to take control.

India and Pakistan, North and South Korea, China and Taiwan, Israel and Palestine, Afghanistan and the U. S., Iran and Iraq…we just can’t get along.

Do you really think China will never attack the U. S.? Do you really think Russia will never attack the U. S.? Friend, war is a fact of life. I read recently that Russia invaded Germany in World War II, raping 100,000 women in one night. Japan invaded China and brutally killed 20 million Chinese people during World War II. Chinese women were brought in by the truck loads and gang raped by Japanese soldiers. Do you really think this couldn’t happen to the U. S.?

War stories should scare you my friend because America is not invincible. No nation is unconquerable. My grave concern is that we are going to destroy our selves first, from within. Do you really think the United Nations will bail us out? Friend, we are the United Nations. If The U. S. goes down, the United Nations will not be there to save us.

As communists try to take away our right to bare arms and sodomites try to undermine the morals of society, where are we headed from here? I fear we’re going down a continued down-ward spiral. While Americans are living-it-up in complacency, we have enemies around the world that are simply waiting for their chance to conquer.

Don’t misunderstand me, I love America! I believe in being patriotic. I am 100% pro-government. I don’t agree with much of what is going on in politics and government, but we are commanded in the Scriptures to submit to the higher authorities (God being the highest). We are to obey the laws of the land as long as they don’t tell us we can’t serve God.

If the government tells me I can’t go soul-winning, I’m going anyway. If they tell me I can’t pray, I’m praying anyway. If they tell me to pay taxes, they have every right to do so and I will comply. I hear people complaining all the time. We should thank God for the blessings we enjoy in this blessed nation. We are spoiled in the United States–yet people complain, complain and still complain some more. How would you like to live in communist China?

What I am saying is that the people of America are slowly but surely turning from God and to destruction. If sodomy, gambling, alcohol, pornography, abortion, prostitution and nudity on TV are legal today…what will be legal tomorrow? It is because I love America that I long to see her people get right with God. We are headed for dark days in this country if we don’t repent and come back to God. We are heading in the wrong direction.

Church attendance is at an all time low. Much music is nothing more than perverted lyrics, filled with occult new-age garbage or gang street talk. Women refuse to obey their husbands and husbands refuse to love their wives as the Bible commands. Young whores strut their near-naked bodies across the TV for lustful eyes to sin upon. Nearly every commercial on TV uses sex as a means of advertising. America has become a sex-perverted country. God’s Word is laughed at and cast away. Criminals have more rights than victims. Confessed murderers sit in prison, eating 3 square meals a day, watching TV, complements of the tax-payer. The Bible has been corrupted; hundreds of perverted bibles, all distorting the Person and deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. Churches and Christians across America are selling out to ecumenism, perverted bibles, Christian rock, life-style evangelism and Hollywood. Yes, we are in trouble.

The greatest problem of our day is indifference! Everything seems to be a big joke to people. Late night shows like THE TONIGHT SHOW and CONAN O’ BRIEN make a mock at sin, “Fools make a mock at sin…” (Proverb 14:9). How wicked! How wrong!

Such late night shows exploit sodomy, fornication, bestiality and every other sin imaginable to make people laugh. Why can’t they have a show with clean humor? Because very few people would watch it.

People today are enamored with perversion, sodomy, witchcraft (Harry Potter) and the occult (astrology, yoga, horoscopes, etc.).

I went to a Barnes & Noble to look at religious books and was sickened to find hundreds of books on witchcraft. I wasn’t looking for them, I just ran across them. They were next to the religious section. I distinctly remember a “Witchcraft Kit for Teens.” It boasted to include “everything necessary” to empower a teen to cast their first spell. How sad!

The devil is really working overtime for our young people’s souls. In the next book isle I found a book on the “rapture.” Again, I was saddened as I looked up and realized that I was in the “Religious Fiction” section. How sad that so few people genuinely believe the Bible anymore.

Our society has become too big for it’s own britches, too educated to believe in Biblical fairy tales, too logical to believe in abstract and illogical concepts. The Bible must be accepted by faith! This is true of evolution as well. Friend, there is not one shred of proof of evolution! It is a mere theory wickedly accepted by Christ-rejecters as a fact. Yet, the Bible stands true, never to be disproved. There is much evidence against evolution. Satan has duped the multitudes.

Why do the heathen rage? Because God allows them to. “Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:” (Ecclesiastes 8:12).

You know, Billy Joel was wrong when he sang, “Only the good die young.” The truth is…the rain falleth upon the just and the unjust, “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew 5:45).

Good and bad things happen to everyone! This is what the Bible teaches. I’ve known young full-time Christian workers to be killed in auto-accidents, but Hue Hefner lives on (and visa-versa). “It’s not fair,” one might say. Listen, you let God decide what is fair and what is not.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” (Proverb 3:5). God is still on his throne. If God wants to let the heathen rage, that is his business.

I get upset when I see a Satanist freak like Ozzy Osbourne get a $20,000,000 contract for being a God-hater, when I live for the Lord and punch a clock 40 hours a week plus. Is it fair? Not if you ask me. However, God knows what He is doing. Yes, friend, God allows the heathen to rage in their rebellious and sinful endeavors–but not forever–their woeful time will come soon enough. How sad! for God is not willing that any should perish.

The world is a snowball, and it’s getting bigger and bigger in it’s rebellion against Christ and the Bible. It’s not going to get any better, it never has.

Every nation that has ever turned into sin was eventually destroyed. Even Nineveh, though they repented under the preaching of Jonah; they turned back into sin and were destroyed 100 years later. The prophet Nahum pronounced their doom.

Likewise, our days are numbered as a nation if we continue in sin. People ask me, “Brother Dave, do you think the Trade Tower tragedy was God’s judgment on America?” No, I do not! I believe it happened because we became too complacent with our airline security and let our guard down. This is why I tell you now, wake up America! Do you think it won’t happen again? Even the FBI is warning of future attacks.

Warren Buffet warned all his millionaire buddies in 2002 that a nuclear bomb will eventually strike the U. S. I believe that 9-11 could have been avoided. If I leave my bicycle unattended, you can bet someone is going to eventually steal it.

That is not God’s judgment, that is my stupidity (or at least my ignorance). I believe as we turn away from God that we will lose our integrity as a nation and become much more vulnerable to communist (enemy) attack. Israel made the mistake of dividing and it no doubt greatly contributed to their weakness and eventual downfall.

Despite the hype about “United We Stand,” America is divided on nearly everything. We are split down the middle on politics, abortion, homosexuality, religion, etc, etc.
We boast, “In God we trust,” but we surely do not (not the True and Living God).

May I say, the god of the Liberal does not exist. I hear so many people talking about God, only to find out they don’t believe Jesus is God. Folks, there is ONLY one God and Jesus Christ is definitely God.

The god of the Liberal wasn’t born of a virgin. The god of the Liberal didn’t die on a cross. The god of the Liberal didn’t shed his blood to pay for our sins. The god of the Liberal is a mythical, whatever you want him to be, god. You say, “In God we trust!” I ask, “Which god?” Allah, god of the Muslims? Mary, god of the Catholics? The Mother-power, god of the Wiccans and New-Age crowd? Who is your god? My God is the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Creator of the universe, the Everlasting Father, the Eternal one, the Prince of peace, the Savior, Almighty God–JESUS CHRIST!

  8. Terence M Blackett

I have read many of your posts and I must say you bring valuable information to many of the issues discussed on this blog. However your post indicating that I might had received a visit from the some men in a grey suits if I had lived in so-called 1st world countries. Are you so damn brain-washed and backward in your thinking that you go along with the stupid classification the white European bastards implemented. This is one world with human beings of different ethnic groups living in it.

Terrence M Blackett it is Black People like you with no backbone who has an inherent fear of the other ethnic groups. From your writings a dumb ass like you have the believe that the Jews or the Europeans or any non-African ethnic group have special powers or are capable of offering some prayer or can effect change that could bring harm to us.If the Jews or the rat catcher/mango seller Indians & Pakistani or the world biggest killers & murderers the killing Europeans have special powers let those powers work to identify who Negroman is that is prepare to challenge them with his writings. The local rat catcher/mango seller Indians & Pakistani can send their bakus or say their special prayers and chants to find out who am I.

As long as the African Black Race has idiots like Terrence M Blackett and the rest of anti-Black Blacks & token Blacks gutless Blackmen like you Terrence M Blackett we will always be at bottom and at the receiving end of all the ills of this world.

All the other ethnic groups of this world have or are using tangible things to propel their race to some level of dominance. The Europeans used and are using gun powder to control the resources of the world.China,Japan and even India are using technology to advance their cause. It is only we the Black African Race that is waiting for an imaginary spiritual force to come down from heaven and solve our problems.

  10. When GP entered this thread pointing out the relevance of the OT predictions about current events occurring in Israel, Pat responded in scorn that he was not objective.

But on September 22, 2009 at 10:50 PM in response to GP’s post about the Basic ‘s of Bible Prophesy, she took her scone to another level, when she sweetly wrote!
    Georgie Porgie // September 22, 2009 at 2:28 PM
    *******************************
I wonder why people castigate the Marquis de Sade for the books he wrote while in prison? The Marquis’s writings have nothing on what you outlined in your post noted above.
    Some god.

I had never my self heard about the Marquis de Sade in my long life of over 50 years, so I looked it up on line, only to find out that the The Marquis de Sade was a famous sexual pervert .

I wonder now whose posts were the more relevant to the discussion, in your opinion. I don’t have any doubts, however, that beneath the veneer that she puts on in this forum, that we are dealing with yet another devil. We are dealing with another incarnation of the devil. No wonder that she attacks GP at every turn, when he speaks about the Bible on BU.

Here is a little bit about the devil, that this evil diabolical woman compares with the God of Heaven and the author of the Bible- God Holy Word.
Donatien Alphonse François, marquis de Sade (2 June 1740 – 2 December 1814) (French pronunciation: [maʁki də sad]) was a French aristocrat, revolutionary and writer. His works include novels, short stories, plays, and political tracts; in his lifetime some were published under his own name, while others appeared anonymously and Sade denied being their author. He is best known for his erotic novels, which combined philosophical discourse with pornography, depicting bizarre sexual fantasies with an emphasis on violence, criminality, and blasphemy against the Catholic Church. He was a proponent of extreme freedom (or at least licentiousness), unrestrained by morality, religion or law.
Sade was incarcerated in various prisons and in an insane asylum for about 32 years of his life; eleven years in Paris (10 of which were spent in the Bastille) a month in Conciergerie, two years in a fortress, a year in Madelonnettes, three years in Bicêtre, a year in Sainte-Pélagie, and 13 years in the Charenton asylum. Many of his works were written in prison. The term “sadism” is derived from his name.

    BTW

It is noteworthy that while Obama is negotiating that Israelis should not have places to live in the land that God gave them, that in the state of Georgia, where there has been a drought for two years, severs flooding has caused such a deluge that many have been displaced from their homes. Ironical isn’t it.

That should raise the ire of the mockers and scoffers.

Seems Obama is not in charge in Georgia. What do you all think?

  11. @BIMBRO
“why do u admire him so!!!”

Hey Big BRUV – any human being that did what that guy did today is worthy of admiration…

I am not saying Bimbro that I agree with his politics, his ideology, the way he run his country (I love the ladies who are his personal body guards – very chic), his rags (I would wear them), not sure about the camel’s milk though(see how it has him looking like one), but in fairness to him today – he gave world leaders a “good spanking” and who knows….. Maybe it was divine providence in the making!!!

  12. @NEGROMAN

I was trying to find a solitary statement from amongst your wonderful rant (which I personally had me LMAO) – hats off to you BIG BRUV*, (you sure weren’t pulling no punches) – I was however hoping to find something specific to retort to….

But on a serious note, conjecture, speculation and castigation are NOT* the right tools to pull out from your toolbox at this time in the discussion…

As someone who understands the concept of “Rock the Boat” – in your case, you often attempt to tip the boat over…

But that is your firebrand nature ( and more power to ya’) but if you believe that at my age, having lived for half a century that I walk in the shadow of any man; am intimidated by the devil; shy away from sleeping in the arms of a lion; or will give my allegiance to any mortal – then brother you are sadly deluded…

  13. @ Margaret

Are you a preacher? So, I am a devil? Yes maybe. But so too are you, ha ha ha! I am going to be judged before the great WHITE throne, by a black judge, I hope. Since your bible says Yeshua is the son of god and he was black, then that makes the bible god black like me. So why not a black throne?

In these times it pays to be an ignoramus even if it is only because I do not share your beliefs. No, I do not believe the stories in the bible. I see no difference in some of the nastiness in the bible and the writings of the Marquis. Go read the Marquis and compare it to some of the passages in the bible and then point out the great difference.

You are one brainwashed woman. Continue to believe in the bible. I will believe Hans Christian Andersen.
Dont worry about me lady. I am well looked after.

If you really believe that god is the author of the bible, then I know you are truly lost.

  14. Terence, I’m disappointed by ur admiration for that tyrant and more so, by Obama’s insult of my PM, the venerable, Gordon Brown and economic-saviour of the western world!! I think Obama’s ‘getting ahead of himself’!! Fine words in his speech yesterday but u need more to be a brilliant President, such as a better sense of decorum and protocal and knowing the right way to treat the representative of your country’s greatest ally! i.e. he seems lacking in plain, good manners!!

  15. Re: Special Relationship
    Set Your Heart Free
Now you said that you’re through with me
But darling you can set your little heart free
Even though you said you would stick by me
Oh darling you can set your little heart free
I know my love was true
And baby I was depending on you
But now you broke the golden rule
You made yourself look like a big damn fool
    I thought you were mine
And I didn’t realise you were leaving me for the time

    (dennis emmanuel brown)

  16. @BIMBRO

After 40 years in COVENTRY* – poor, ‘ole Gaddafi was entitled to his 15 mins which ending up being 90+ but that the maths for ya’…

As for OBAMA* and BROWN* – they need to look at the next crisis looming on the horizon and act fast….

  17. @ Negroman // September 23, 2009 at 5:15 PM

Quote……..”My brother the real strong African blood runs through my veins and I am not afraid. The detractors cannot deter me or scare me.”

I reply…… I want to know from you just what percentage of this “African” blood you think you still have in your veins?

The reason I ask is because if you are a born bajan with bajan ancestors then the chances are very remote that you are 100% black. I would like to suggest you have a DNA test if you think I may be wrong. But just make sure to take someone with you when you go for the results as you may be in for a very big shock!

  18. Pat

I am no preacher, but I can hold my own when discussing the truths of God’s Holy Word.

How can I be “truly lost” or “one brainwashed woman” because I believe the Bible, and that God is the author of the Bible.

You believe in the writings of the Marquis and Hans Christian Andersen, and I believe the Bible. I didnt say that you are brainwashed. You have come to your conclusion without being brain washed, right? So why don’t you think that I can think for myself too, as I come to my conclusion.

You ask such stupid illogical questions. Where in the Bible that it says that Jesus is white black or yellow? And does it matter what the color of the judge is when you go in a court on earth? So why do you think that the color of the judge at the Great White Throne matters? Why do you think that the color of the Throne matters? The Bible calls it the Great White Throne, and that is what it is called!

Yes I am a preacher of righteousness.

Mankind judged the writings of the Marquis as nastiness, and so does God. Your hatred for the Word of God demonstrates that you are indeed a devil.

I am not going to worry about you, but the day is coming when you will remember the folly that you have spewed on this blog.

For Jesus is indeed coming soon and very soon regardless to what mockers and scoffers like you say.

The devil is indeed liar and a murderer from the beginning as Jesus taught.

  19. @Margaret: “…because I believe the Bible, and that God is the author of the Bible.

But with the deepest of respect Margaret…

You have just said that this is your believe. Believe, by definition, is not based on facts.

What if it you are wrong?

What if instead men (the plural masculine is intentional) wrote the Bible?

    Have you considered this possibility?

  20. Kiki must b a Jamaican!! Fondness for Dennis Brown et al!! Terence, Gadaffi, as I’m sure u know, is a rogue who gained power by an illegal coup and is thus unqualified morally, to lead anybody, especially the OAU, but they’re a bunch of crooks too!! Talk about the blind leading the blind!! What do u perceive to b ‘the next crisis’!!

    Hi Chris!!

  21. I’m concerned that Def Jam record co., don’t appear to be actively promoting Ri’s records, as they should be!!

Kiki, now u know what a real magical-diva (Rihanna) looks and sound like, plus my Patra, who is jus in another sex-category, altogether!!

  22. @ Christopher Halsall
Re What if you are wrong?

If I am wrong, I have lost nothing! IF YOU ARE WRONG YOU HAVE LOST ALL!

Re What if instead men (the plural masculine is intentional) wrote the Bible?

The Bible teaches that men did write the Bible under the inspiration of God. Read 2 Peter 1: 16-21 especially verse 21.

As I said before Sir, I believe the Bible, and that God is the author of the Bible. You can believe what you wish.

16For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

  23. @Margaret

“If I am wrong, I have lost nothing! IF YOU ARE WRONG YOU HAVE LOST ALL!”

What a joke. Thing is, there are no ifs about whether or not you are wrong. The bible is false, nothing in the bible ever happened and for those who refute the evidence (that should know better) it means that the bible amounts to no more than a conspiracy.

Where are the records that places moses in the Pharaoh’s court?

Where is the evidence about the arrest and crucifixion of Christ?

Why were the historians so silent on this subject when they never missed anything?

Who was Pontius Pilate? Where is he in the Roman records?

Why did Egyptian historians not record the plagues or the parting of the Red Sea?

You understand that the only book with these stories is the bible? You also understand that all these stories were told before the alleged appearance of Abraham by tens of thousands of years?

So yes, the only body that could have written it was god… but who is god? Certainly not the Creator.

Furthermore, it is a waste of time quoting the bible to support your arguments. Is there not at least on single source outside the Bible and the books associated with it like the forgotten books of Eden and the Apocypha, etc. All form one source.

What you would have lost is a life of living. You find yourself in a mental prison and true, while there is no punishment for it, there is equally no punishment if you don’t believe.

When ever you believe, you are admitting that you are not sure and that you may be wrong. If you study the “maybe wrong” carefully and you find that there is not one ounce of corroborating evidence, then the know that the likelihood that you are wrong is closing in on 100%.

    Wrong to believe that:
    This god is omniscient;
    If you serve god you will be saved;
    On death you will be judged and go to either heaven or hell;
    That god knows you or even cares about you;
    That god is the Creator;
    That the Creator is a he; although god is a he and that is why he is not the Creator;
Wrong to think that god is eternal because that is the domain of the Creator alone.

Bottom line is that your god is a mortal and from that perspective he is not the Creator of this world but was created just like us; Just another saga in the slavery of mankind.

What you are probably not wrong about is that he will return and probably carry out his promise to annihilate half the world’s population.

He will also probably carry the 144,000 slaves with him; Human genes to serve him where ever he lives because human genes are lesser to him as horses and asses are to us. Like cow and sheep; utility and a source of supplying food (labour).

However, I will risk to bet that even god has changed as the times have passed and therefore a lot that is in the bible may never happen and a different solution sought.

We may have dominion over this earth but then in like manner, god has dominion over us; to do as he pleases; unless of course, we find the wisdom to deal with god on his return.

  24. Does this person think before he writes and contradicts himself?

I particularly like the portion that reads thus
“What you are probably not wrong about is that he will return and probably carry out his promise to annihilate half the world’s population.”

How can he return if he does not exist? LOL

    Very good entertainment Sir!

    The devil got you good!

  25. @Margaret

Is your mind playing on you? Where did I say that god did not exist? I merely stated that you have the wrong impression of who god is. Your response is unbelievable to say the least. Is it the brainwashing?

How can I deny the reports of the Sumerians, Ancient Egypt and the Mayans to name a few. They all spoke of gods; described them and had many stories. What the bible did was to put all those stories into one convenient story and then proceeded to destroy any evidence that would contradict it. Why you think the Christians destroyed so much literature? So that the only thing left standing would be the bible… problem is they could not destroy everything and a lot of the evidence is written on the walls of the pyramids of Egypt for all to see.

  26. In his letter to the saints at Rome, Paul wrote about the idolatry that engulfed the Gentiles. Men had been given opportunity to know God, but “they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things” (Rom. 1:21-23).

    1. Some profess to know that God does not exist. A few years ago Charles Smith, President of the American Association for the Advancement of Atheism, was one of this nation’s champions of “no-God-ism.” Later, Mrs. Madalyn Murray O’Hair gained the dubious distinction of being the chief voice crying in America that there is no God. While disavowing communism, she has sown the seeds of the same brand of atheism that prevails in communist countries.

If there is no God, how did intelligent life originate? How could an impersonal force produce a personal being? How could that which neither thinks nor wills produce that which thinks and wills? How could lifeless matter ever by chance grouping of the particles produce that which is not matter, a soul? How could that which has no self-consciousness, and consequently no purpose, ever produce that which is self-conscious and which shows the. result of purpose? How could that which has neither life, consciousness, intelligence, nor morality produce a living, conscious, intelligent, moral being?

The individual who claims to know that there is no God is placing man, the thing made, above the Maker. Atheism is the fruit of human conceit. People turn to atheism because they are unwilling to admit that there is wisdom greater than that found in human intelligence. The Bible is right when it says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God” (Psa. 14:1).

    2. Some profess to sit in judgment on the word of God. It never ceases to amaze me that there are men who claim to believe God, and claim to accept the Bible as God’s revelation, yet they are constantly pronouncing judgment on God’s decrees. For example, the Bible plainly reveals that the wicked will be cast into hell, the lake which burns with fire and brimstone (Mk. 9:43-48; Rev. 20:10, 15; 21:8).. Some profess themselves to be so wise that they pronounce the doctrine of eternal punishment as “unjust” and “contrary to the nature of God.” They evidently feel that they know more about how God ought to handle the wicked than He knows. How absurd that puny man should exalt his wisdom above the wisdom of God!

    3. Some profess to be wise above that which is written. Paul told the Corinthians that they needed to learn “not to think of men above that which is written,” or to use the wording of the New American Standard Bible, “not to exceed what is written” (1 Cor. 4:6). Some people are just sure that it pleases God to accompany the singing in worship with the playing of musical instruments. It is not so written in the New Testament. If it is, where is the passage? Others are positive in their minds that sprinkling will suffice for baptism. It is not so written in the Bible. They are exceeding what is written. And others insist that burning incense is perfectly lawful as a part of our devotion to God. But where does the New Testament authorize us to burn incense to God?

    4. Some profess to know that God’s word does not mean what it says. Men have argued that “water” in John 3:5 means everything imaginable except water. One woman told me that “water” means “the word” in that passage. I asked her if that is what “water” means in Acts 8:38 where Philip and the eunuch “went down both into the water.” She replied, “Well, that could mean that they were both digging down deep into the word.” I guess that is supposed to mean that Philip figuratively immersed the eunuch in one of those “in-depth” studies that some preachers talk about!

Some religionists maintain that “one body” in Eph. 4:4 does not really mean that the Lord has only one, church.Yet Paul identified the body as the church in that same letter (Eph. 1:22,23). They would sooner believe that “one body” means three hundred bodies than to believe that it means just what it says.

    5. Some profess to know all the answers. No question is too complex or difficult. They have an answer for every inquiry. How can they profess themselves to be so wise? The Bible does not answer every curious questfon that man might frame. There are some things undisclosed, and these secret things belong to God (Deut. 29:29). It is the part of wisdom and humility for man to admit his limitations of knowledge.

Men often become fools by professing themselves to be wise. Ah lie?

  27. @Margaret

I see you have gone into some kind of shock and you keep repeating as if I said there was no god, so I am going to leave you to try to enjoy what sanity you have left in your bliss… but just for clarity, there is a difference between god and the Creator. The two are not synonymous.

  28. Margaret: “If I am wrong, I have lost nothing! IF YOU ARE WRONG YOU HAVE LOST ALL!

    I respectfully disagree.

If you are wrong, you might have lost the opportunity for clearer thought.

If I am wrong (and while I don’t subscribe to any formal religion, I do resonate deeply with Buddhism — fundamentally, that the Universe reflects) I simply pray that the God(s) are compassionate, and will appreciate the free thinking….

  29. @ZOE

THE RELIABILITY OF THE OLD TESTAMENT RECORD –

So far we have looked only at the reliability of the New Testament writings. It is pertinent also to say a little about the Old Testament. Here the question is a little more complicated, but it is important to point out the evidence brought to us by the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

These scrolls began to be discovered in caves by the Dead Sea in 1947. They had been hidden by members of the Jewish Community at Qumran when their community was destroyed by the Romans during the Roman-Jewish War of AD 66-70.

From the 40,000 inscribed fragments recovered, over 500 books have been identified.

About 100 of these are copies of the 39 books of the Old Testament. Only Esther is not represented among them.

Many of these writings pre-date the Jewish*community…

For example, a text of Exodus has been dated about 250 BC.

Up to the time of this discovery the main text of the Hebrew Bible in use was that which was standardized by a group of Jews working in the 8th and 9th centuries who were known as Masoretes, from a Hebrew word meaning “tradition”.

They assembled the best Hebrew texts of the Old Testament available at the time and sought to preserve their purity. They gave us what is known as the Masoretic text.

However, because of the remarkable discoveries in the caves by the Dead Sea, we now have copies of the Old Testament books that are 1,000 years EARLIER*********! (PLEASE NOTE)

It is “possible” to compare these to see how the copying of the text over such a long period has affected it and to what extent changes have occurred.

To give an example, it is possible to compare the text of one of the Dead Sea copies of Isaiah, which is dated about [100 BC], with that of the Masoretes of 1,000 years later, in order to see how faithfully scribes have preserved the text.

For instance, if we take Isaiah 53, (the chapter that foretells the sufferings of CHRIST*, and which is quoted at least 10 times in the New Testament in connection with those events), we find that the Qumran manuscript has [17 letters] different from the Masoretic text.

[10] of these letters are mere differences in spelling, similar to our spelling of “honor” or “honour”, and produce no change of meaning at all.

[4] more are very minor differences, such as the presence of a conjunction, which is often a matter of style.

The other three letters are the Hebrew word “light,” added after “they shall see” in verse 11.

Of the [166] words in this chapter, only this word is really in question, and it does not at all change the sense of the passage.

This is typical of the whole manuscript.

Thus we can see in what high regard the Jewish scribes held their “Sacred Scriptures” and with what care they copied them.

On the basis of the Qumran Isaiah Scroll, the Revised Standard Version of 1952 made only [13] minor changes to the whole of Isaiah.

By comparing the standard Hebrew Old Testament text used today with that of the Dead Sea Scrolls, Dr.Gleason Archer, (who is undoubtedly the chief apostle of Bible inerrancy – his book Encyclopedia of Bible Difficulties is the most often quoted reference work ) in A Survey of the Old Testament, found that they:

“proved to be word for word identical…in more than 95% of the text. The 5% variation consisted chiefly of obvious slips of the pen and variations in spelling.”

    To quote Sir Frederick Kenyon:
(noted British scholar of ancient languages, who made a life-long study of the Bible, especially the New Testament as an historical text. His book Our Bible and the Ancient Manuscripts (1895) shows how Egyptian papyri and other evidence from archeology can corroborate the narrative of historical events in the Gospel) says:

“It is reassuring at the end to find that the general result of all these discoveries and all this study is to strengthen the proof of the authenticity of the Scripture, and our conviction that we have in our hands, in substantial integrity, the veritable Word of God.”

Is the Bible really the Word of God? After all, if Jesus is the most complete revelation of the person and character of God that we have been given, and if he did die on the cross to pay the penalty for our rebellion against Him, and if He is offering to us the incredible gift of His forgiveness and love for all Eternity, then it would have been foolish of Him not to have taken steps to see that we had a reasonably accurate account of these things. And if this is so, would it not be foolish of us to reject His love because we imagined wrongly that the record was distorted?”

Dr.Clark Pinnock, Professor of Systematic Theology at McMaster Divinity School in Ontario, concludes, after extensive research where he opines:

“There exists no document from the ancient world, witnessed by so excellent a set of textual and historical testimonies and offering so superb an array of ‘historical data’ on which an intelligent decision may be made. An honest person cannot dismiss a source of this kind. Skepticism regarding the historical credentials of Christianity is based on an irrational basis.”

  30. Evidence of Pontius Pilate in the Scriptures!!!

During the trial of Jesus, the Gospel accounts focus a great deal on a “larger-than-life” character named Pontius Pilate.

Luke referred to him as the Roman governor of Judea during the reign of Tiberius Caesar (Luke 3:1).

Do we have evidence for Pontius Pilate outside the biblical texts?

In 1961, archaeologists discovered a plaque fragment at Caesarea Maritima, an ancient Roman city along the Mediterranean coast of Israel.

The plaque was written in Latin and embedded in a section of steps leading to Caesarea’s Amphitheater.

    The inscription includes the following:
“Pontius Pilatus, Prefect of Judea, has dedicated to the people of Caesarea a temple in honor of Tiberius.”

Emperor Tiberius reigned from 14AD to 37 AD.

This matches the Biblical timeline that records Pontius Pilate ruling as governor of Judea from 26 to 36 AD.

Cornelius Tacitus, a well-known first century Roman historian, also mentioned Pontius Pilate in one if his well-known texts:

“Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus…” (Annales, Historiae, Chapter 15, paragraphs 54 and 55)…

Not only does Tacitus mention Pontius Pilate outside the Biblical record, but he mentions him in the historical context of Christ (Christus).

  31. @BU Family…

    Oh, for Christ’s sake…

I make a simply statement to Margaret (less than a hundred words), and suddenly Terence feels the need to copy-and-paste thousands of words of language.

@BU Family: Where have we seen this before?

  32. @CHRIS HALSALL

“suddenly Terence feels the need to copy-and-paste thousands of words of language…”

Actually Chris, that posting was in reference to some questions posed by ROK!!!

I apologize for the slight oversite of not making that clear from the outset…

  33. @Christopher Halsall,

“But with deepest respect Margret…you have said that this is your believe. Believe, by definition is not based on facts.”

CH, that depends of what one ‘believes’ whether it is based on rationality, justification or warrant!

There is the question of criteria for knowledge or justification!

As I’ve posted before, ‘The Structure for justification, for defending any propositional ‘truth claim’ is ‘coherence’ which is our sole criterior for truth.”

“Prove to me that I do not know them, you who deny that such matters pertain to philosophy and who maintain that none of these things can be known.”
    (Augustine Against The Academicians)

Common sense assures us that we know and have justified ‘beliefs’ about many things: the external world, God, morality, the past, mathematics, our own mental life, and the existence of other minds. And while Scripture places an important emphasis on ‘faith’ belief, it places equally important emphasis on things we can, should, and do know. Thus, Scripture unites with common sense to affirm that there are many examples of knowledge and justified ‘belief’ for human beings.

As TM quoted Dr. Clark Pinnock, “An honest person cannot dismiss a source of this kind. Skepticism regarding the historical credentials of Christianity is based on an irrational basis.”

  34. @CH, To which branch of Buddhism do you ascribe?

  35. @BU Family…

    Oh, for Christ’s sake…
I make a simply statement to Margaret (less than a hundred words), and suddenly Terence feels the need to copy-and-paste thousands of words of language.

LOL does not Terrence have the right to articulate the view that RESONATES with him too, just as you do. All that happen is that HE RESONATED LONGER AND IN CONTRADICTION TO THE BS SPEWED ON THIS THREAD BY THE WOULD BE “DEVIL” “THE BEAST: & “THE FALSE PROPHET” !

    TERRENCE HAVE NO FEAR
    ZOE & I AM HERE
WE FIGHT “THE LIE:” WITH THE TRUTH !

    HOW IT HURTS!

@BU Family: Where have we seen this before? Where have we heard these bitter complaints of frustration before when the TRUTH is revealed about the WORD OF GOD?

Come on Terrence. RESONATE SOME MORE MAN

    Oh me am!

  36. Last weekend, in support of my position in relation to Israel and the eschaton, I commented briefly on the relevance of Obadiah, Joel, Haggai and Malachi to the contemporary issues, indicating that God has generally kept his promise to punish peoples who commit acts of anti Semitism, and that whereas Israel are due to suffer some horrible times (worse than she has ever known) that at Armageddon at the return of Christ at the glorious appearing, Jesus will put a big whipping on the armies of the United Nations.

This weekend, I will spend some time in the book of Amos, who presents God as the ruler of this world and declares that all nations are responsible to Him and that the . measure of a nation’s responsibility is the light which a nation has. The final test for any nation (or individual) is found in Amos 3:3, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” In a day of prosperity, Amos pronounced punishment and judgment of God on the nations of his day which were living in luxury while dishing out and wallowing in immorality.

Amos was sort of “The Country Preacher Who Came to Town.” He came out of obscurity to deliver his message of judgment against all of the surrounding nations in Beth-el at the king’s chapel. Amos had a global view of life and of God’s program for the entire world—not only for the present but also for the future. And so his book is relevant to us today, whether it resonates or vibrates with the ungodly, or not!

Before we get into the nitty gritty of the book, we will note in chapter 7 a little personal insight into this man and his ministry. There we read: “Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words. For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land. Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court. Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit: And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel” (Amos 7:10–15).

Amos tells us here that God had given him a message, and had sent him from obscurity to Bethel to deliver it there. It is folly, and futile to mock and scoff at men that God has called to deliver his message, because God called men WILL deliver God’s message regardless to how much mocking and scoffing occurs.

Beth-el was, at first, the capital of the northern kingdom, and it was the place where Jeroboam I had erected one of his golden calves. It was the center of culture and also of cults. The people worshiped that golden calf and had turned their backs upon almighty God. Beth-el was where the sophisticated and the suave folk moved; the jet set lived there. It was a place that was blasé and brazen. It was also the intellectual center. They had a School of Prophets there. The seminaries taught liberalism. They would have taught the Graf-Wellhausen hypothesis which denies the inspiration of the Pentateuch and gone in for all the latest theories of a theologian like Rudolf Bultmann.

What was done in Beth-el was the thing to do. When something new and sinful was introduced, Beth-el was the first place where it was advertised and used, and from there it would spread throughout Israel. Beth-el was like the contemporary Hollywood or Amsterdam or any contemporary core of corruption.

It was to that place that this prophet of God came with a most unusual message, different from any other prophet. Amos did not give the type of messages they were used to hearing. In the king’s chapel there was always a mild-mannered preacher, very sophisticated and well-educated, but a rank unbeliever who stood in the pulpit giving comforting little words to the people with pabulum and saccharine sweetness in his message……..but little of the word of God in it, if any at all. This much like most of the preaching in the contemporary church; composed of a hoop, a hollah, a nice sweet short story and an emotional poem

This is how it is even in Barbados today!

But when Amos first arrived, they got a different kind of man! He must have created quite a stir. He had left the backwoods and had arrived on the boulevard. He had left the desert; now he entered the drawing room. He had been with the longhaired sheep out on the desert all of his life; now he was with the well-groomed “goats” up yonder in Bethel. He had left the place of agriculture and had come to the place of culture.

They came out of curiosity, saying, “We don’t think this man has any message.” They came in amusement, but they left in anger. He was a sensational preacher, and his teaching weren’t cut to the style of Beth-el. It has always been that when men teach the Word of God as it ought to be taught that it makes ungodly men and women ANGRY. They pretend to be amused as they mock and scoff, but they are ANGRY! There are some like that even on BU!

But Amos preached the Word of God. Many people were moved, and some turned to God; but he disturbed the liberal element. Organized religion in Beth-el, the worship of Baal and of the golden calf, got together. They had the ecumenical movement going there, so they had the same program. If you don’t believe anything, my friend, there is nothing to keep you apart. If I don’t believe anything and you don’t believe anything, we can get together. That is the ecumenical movement, and it was going great guns even in that day, just as it does today, because the ecumenical movement, is and has always been a diabolical doctrine devised by the devil, and his assigns!

However, If I believe and sincerely try to follow Bible doctrine and you don’t, there is scoffing and mocking, because as Amos 3:3 says TWO CANT WALK TOGETHER UNLESS THEY BE AGREED. God and the devil are on opposite sides, as are believers and unbelievers, and the Godly and the ungodly and demons of devils. And there are some like that even on BU!

Amos was like many preachers today, in the midst of organized religion which was plotting against him to silence him and to run him out of town. Some of the leading ecumenical leaders called a meeting. They wanted to remove Amos; they wanted to withdraw support from him if he didn’t change his message. There were also some fundamental leaders called “evangelicals” in Beth-el who began to criticize him because he was drawing the crowds. They tried to undermine his ministry. But God blessed him, and Amos would not compromise but continued to preach the Word of God. Today those who teach the Word of God in truth as it applies to Israel and the eschaton are scoffed at, mocked and called “Zionists” to deride, denigrate, discourage and dismiss them; as though the Word of God and the God of the Word does not stand steadfast and sure while the billows roll!

These organized religious folk had a mass meeting of all the religions in Beth-el—it was really the first meeting of what is now called the World Council of Churches—and the motto of this first meeting was, “Away with Amos, away with Amos.” And the inevitable happened at this meeting: they appointed a committee chairman, Amaziah, to go and confront Amos. Amaziah was a priest who had gone into idolatry. (Does all of this sound modern to you? It’s the same old story; we think it’s modern, but this sort of thing has been happening ever since man got out of the Garden of Eden.) Amaziah was the hired hand of religion. He was polished, he was educated, he was proud, he was scholarly, he was pious, and he was a classic example of a pseudosaint…..until he was unmasked!

Cleverly and subtly, Amaziah worked a master stroke. He went to Jeroboam II and poisoned his mind against Amos. Amaziah got the king to support him because he believed that the church and state, religion and politics, should be combined. Amaziah was an ecclesiastical politican who was twisting the truth, and that is the worst kind of lying.

This is what happened: “Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words. For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land” (Amos 7:10–11). Let me ask you, friend, is that what Amos said? No, he had not said that. His actual words were that God had said, “I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword” (Amos 7:9). If you follow the record, you will find that Amos’ pronouncement was accurate.

It is too bad that Jeroboam II did not believe Amos because his grandson was later slain with the sword, thus ending his kingly line. It was true that Amos had said something about the sword and about Jeroboam, but he had not said that Jeroboam personally would die by the sword.

I think Amaziah had two other men on his committee when he went to see Amos. There was Dr. Sounding Brass, president of the School of Prophets—false prophets, by the way. Proud and pompous, he was a politician par excellence. Such a person can easily be identified sounding forth on Biblical threads on BU, and talking abject rubbish, because they know neither the Word of God and the God of the Word!

There was also Rev. Tinkling Cymbal. He couldn’t preach, because he knows neither the Word of God and the God of the Word, and therefore CAN NOT ADD ANYTHING OF SUBSTANCE TO A DISCUSSION OF THE WORD OR ABOUT EITHER THE WRITTEN OR LIVING WORD! Such a person can easily be identified sounding forth on Biblical threads on BU, and talking abject rubbish, and interjecting with silly statements given him by his master the devil, and indicating that while professing himself to be wise (and probably so in some of the things of the cosmos) he declares and demonstrates himself to be really a fool about spiritual things.

Such jokers cant pound the pulpit or wake up the sleeping. Having nothing of substance to give they can engage only in back slapping with those of similar ilk!

BU family. There is nothing new under the sun.

Amaziah, with biting sarcasm, with a rapier of ridicule, and with a condescending manner, said to Amos in Amos 7:12, “O thou seer.” In other words, he’s calling him, “Parson.” In effect, Amaziah said to Amos, “Who told you that you were a preacher? Where is your degree? What school did you go to? Who ordained you? You didn’t go to Codrington College! Where did you preach before you came here? Go, flee away.” In other words, he’s saying to him, “Get out of town. Get lost.”

And there are those who would be glad if at least two of us did not post on BU on Biblical matters. They think just Amaziah did in Amos 7:13, when he said : “But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court”). That is the height of Amaziah’s insolence and his arrogance. He uses here a satire that is not only biting but also poisonous. He says in effect,

“Remember, you’ve been speaking in the leading church here in Beth-el, the king’s chapel. You have been in the king’s sanctuary, and he’s dissatisfied with you. Your message disturbs him. In fact, there are a lot of people who do not like you. You don’t use a very diplomatic method. You don’t pat them on the back and tell them how wonderful they are. You do not patronize the rich and the affluent. And you’re not very reverent. You tell funny stories every now and then. You’re not dignified. You pound the pulpit, and you lack graceful gestures. You do not use a basso profundo voice as if you were thundering out of heaven. What you need is a course in homiletics. And you don’t seem to have read the latest books. By the way, have you read the latest, Baal Goes to Yale?” And, of course, poor Amos hadn’t read the latest book.

Now tell me BU family, aren’t they some like that on BU when the Word is taught on this blog with clarity, and in sincerity and truth?
May I say to you, if you give out the Word of God today, you are going to be challenged. Folk will be interested in knowing how you got your authority.” I can answer that very easily. When I was in my teens, God called me, and I knew He called me. Like Amos, we can say “And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel” (Amos 7:15, italics mine). Amos says, “You want my credentials? Here they are: God called me.” I have no doubt that I was called of God—and that is my authority. Amos was naive, but he was called of God, and the Lord was leading him all the way.

Amos was God’s man giving God’s message. Simply because Israel was being religious on the surface did not guarantee that God would not judge their sin. Because of their rejection of His law—their deceit and robbery and violence and oppression of the poor—God said, “I hate, I despise your feast days …. Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them …. Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs …. But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream” (Amos 5:21–24).

It was a day of false peace. In the north was Assyria hanging like the sword of Damocles ready to fall, and in the next half century it would destroy this little kingdom. Israel was trying to ignore it, and they kept talking about peace. But Amos said, “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth” (Amos 9:8). His message was not a popular message. He warned that it was God’s intention to punish sin. And He is about to punish sin again, very soon!

  37. @ Margaret

    ha ha ha!

Listen lady. The bible has in as much nastiness as the Marquis’s writings. The bible has in more evil than the Marquis’s writings. The bible has in more viloence than the Marquis’ writings. The Bible, according to you, is the word of god, written by god. You can have your cruel, mean, wicked , murderous god, and his word.

In my opinion, it would be better if you believed in the tooth fairy or santa claus. (Seeing y0u do not get my reference to Hans Christian Andersen.)

I am going back to my new book:
How Jesus Became Christian by Barrie Wilson. No time for you!

What another BIG LIE. The whole story of Jesus Christ is another concoction of these “jews.” He never was!

    ……………………………….

Oh no indeed. Jesus of Nazareth was. It is a historical fact.

I have no desire to go into his life, however.

  39. @ Halsall, where are you man?

I’m awaiting your answer to my question!

To which branch of Buddhism do you ascribe?

  40. @Ramgoat Liver…….. So you really think that by you saying that Jesus indeed was but is not willing to prove it, convinces me of anything?

Is this Jesus Christ the God and Saviour of Black People?

I always have a problem with someone giving me whitewashed ‘historical facts’ because its these same ‘facts’ which have Black people living in a dormant subservient condition, on total mental lockdown!

  44. @BU FAMILY*

The beauty of knowledge is the ability to argue and articulate opposing views without the fear of personal reprisal, unnecessary insults and pointless innuendo which really solve nothing…

Black folks in the last few decades have found themselves in this transcendent world of global media and with the power and access to BLOG and dialog across geographical boundaries which has meant a certain element of empowerment having been given a “voice” – a morphogenesis to create a new world and to debunk the mythology of the past…

Let us not forget – like the 1260 years of the DARK AGES* where knowledge, truth and spirituality was chained to the walls of the VATICAN library, we must guard with impervious and relentless bias, the bastions of liberty which we now enjoy and relish and not be shackled by the gross errors of history brought to bear especially upon people of color who still continue to suffer under the weight of unjust censure.

For those of us who have had to live in the “white-man country” understand only too well, the concept of the “voiceless”. When our voices are finally given amplification – the sound is crisp, firm and clear, knowing that to be indistinct will set us back even further than where we’ve been…

Knowledge is power. But wisdom is a gift from God. Understanding gives us all the ability to thread the waters while maintaining our soundness of purpose and the concinnity to be able to separate truth from error…

  45. @Terrence M Blackett………Well Mr. holier than thou, you have come to the wrong station. You should start with ya friends, and the institutions from whence you’ve gleaned your “TRUTH’ and “ERROR” those you are so proud to speak of. That’s where you should start if you want to right wrongs and present TRUTH as opposed to DAMNED LIES…….

    Truth from Error my Arse!

  46. Well! Well! Well! Where on this blog was it ever proven that there is historical evidence of the life of Christ? What a big lie! Anytime that this blog ascertained the veracity of the life of Christ, it would hit the top of most visited sites in the world.

The exact reason that christianity is called a belief is because there is not one shred of evidence that it is the truth. The reason that you talk about and use the word faith is because there is not even the remotest piece of evidence that Jesus, Moses or Joseph ever existed.

I asked earlier who was Pontius Pilate and somebody jumped up with glee to point out that Pilate was a prefect in the Roman Government or army but I don’t think they will be as gleeful at my next question, which is:

Why is there no mention of Jesus Christ, his arrest and his crucifixion among the records of Pilate?

The two bits of evidence which christians prayed so much to be true was:

    1. The shawl which had the image of christ as drawn by Michael Angelo which would be an obvious fraud because the biblical description of Christ and the image was at odds and revealed the obvious fraud.

    2. The ark of the covenant which from inception was a wild goose chase and has not been found or even sighted up to this day; dashing the hopes of believers.

Not a single ounce of evidence. Anybody who is properly versed in the theology will tell you why the terms “faith” and “belief” are attached to the concept of christianity.

I have to revert the the Rev. Errington Massiah who came out against the zoes and the GPs and deemed them to be an enemy of Christianity. Indeed they have proven to be even worse than that and can only bring christianity into disrepute.

People like you bring people like me out of the woodwork with your lies and deceit. What you need to understand is that when you make these kinds of statements, you cause people to look at the evidence and showcase the evidence for all to see, hear and understand that there is absolutely no kind of proof whatsoever.

After 1000+ years of study by tens of thousands of scholars and none coming up with proof, how can you with no evidence to examine, no artifacts, no actual written record to study, come and say that it was proven?

Deceit and lies. That is the stuff that righteous men are made of?

You can now continue quoting the bible as the only source and you had better stick to that story.

Furthermore, one of the reasons why it can definitely be described as false is that the stories in the bible can all be seen on the inside of the Pyramids written on the walls. These stories preceeded christianity by thousands of years. The virgin birth can be found inscribed on the walls of the Pyramids and it was not prophesy, it was a record of what actually happened; the original names were changed by the bible. PURE PLAGIARISM!

IT CAN’T BE PROVEN THAT CHRIST EVER WAS! THAT IS WHY CHRISTIANITY IS A BELIEF. YOU SIMPLY HAVE TO HAVE FAITH THAT IT HAPPENED… BUT ACCORDING TO THE HISTORICAL RECORD, IT HAPPENED THOUSANDS OF YEARS BEFORE THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN… AND WHAT IS WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE NEVER HAPPENED AT ALL.

  47. To all those who would speak about belief, it would be advisable to stick to what you know is truth and the bible is certainly not among the mix. Jesus Christ was born in 325 AD at the Council of Nicea and is a creature of Constantine and the near 400 bishops who conspired to create a religion that would rule the world. Oh they were very clever and notice how they destroyed the evidence that would have proven the bible to be a lie; under the guise that the books were the devil’s work. Tens of thousand of years of knowledge destroyed to perpetrate a lie. No wonder they went through the dark ages; calling the earth flat and all that rot.

  48. The final vision of Amos, that of the worldwide regathering and restoration of the kingdom of the Lord is given in
    Amos 9:11- 15.

Amos saw beyond the terrible days of judgment and scattering of His people, even beyond the Great Tribulation (which is still future in our day).

In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old [Amos 9:11].

The phrase “in that day” refers to the last days of Israel. “In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen.”

To follow through on this, listen to James in Acts 15 where he quotes this prophecy of Amos: “And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me: Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world” (Acts 15:13–18).

Today God is calling out a people for His name among the Gentiles. After this He will raise up the tabernacle of David.

In other words, he is speaking of the kingdom age, the Millennium, the greatest day which is yet in the future.

That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this [Amos 9:12].

There will be many nations which will enter the Millennium.

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt [Amos 9:13].

This is the proof of what I have mentioned previously, that when the people of Israel are being blessed, the land of Israel is being blessed. The people and the land belong together.

God makes it clear that when He returns the people of Israel to their land, it will again be the land of milk and honey. The land is not that now; so I take it that the present return is not the one which is predicted. Although Jews are returning to their land, they are not returning to their God.

And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them [Amos 9:14].

God is going to restore Israel to the land. Never again will it be the southern kingdom of Judah and the northern kingdom of Israel. It will all be Israel, an undivided kingdom, as it was in the beginning of its history. It will be all twelve tribes. They are scattered over the whole world today. They are sifted among all nations.

Any idea that “the ten lost tribes” are the people of Great Britain and of the United States is unscriptural. The prophecy clearly states that they will be sifted among all nations. Just look around you. Has God done that, or hasn’t He done it? But it will not be that way forever. God will return them to the land.

“I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them.”
And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God [Amos 9:15].

When God puts them in the land, they will be there permanently.

These are the things God has said He will do for His people:

    (1) He is going to restore the Davidic dynasty. Who do you think will be the king? It will be a son of David by the name of Jesus, born in Bethlehem of the house and lineage of David. He will be the ruler.

    (2) Israel will take her place among the nations of the world. She will no longer go to the United Nations with her hat in her hand (nor will she be shutting out Arabs). She will be a nation that is going to be blessed of God and will occupy a place among the nations of the world.

    (3) In addition to this, there will be a conversion of the nations of the world! This will occur after the church leaves this earth. The greatest conversion to Christ is still in the future. What a day that will be!

When God returns Israel to her land, (4) they will build the waste cities and inhabit them.

    (5) They will eat the fruit of their gardens and drink the wine of their vineyards. The curse on the land will be lifted, and it will produce bountifully.

    (6) And the people of Israel “shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.”

  49. Anybody reading GP and Zoe, you only have to prefix everything they say with I believe. They are not stating any facts. It is pure conjecture and must be prefixed with “I believe”.
