The Middle East Revisited: Islamism Based On a Cult of Murderous Violence

Submitted by Charles Knighton

Middle East continues to be the flash point – Israel Hamas Conflict

And so it begins anew. After months of provocation, Israel strikes back against Hamas, only to be almost universally condemned as the aggressor. As I pen this letter (Nov. 17) how this latest drama will evolve is unknown, though I am certain it will not take long for the wilfully naive to again claim all Israel needs to do is return occupied land in order for peace to reign supreme. Unfortunately, those calling the shots in the Middle East and North Africa are groups I would refer to as Islamofascists who view Israel as a whole as occupied land.

Any student of history must see that there is something horribly familiar about today’s Islamist movement. Like the fascism of Hitler, Mussolini and Franco, Islamism is based on a cult of murderous violence that exalts death and destruction and despises the life of the mind. Both are bitterly nostalgic for past empires and lost glories and bent on avenging various historical humiliations at the hands of inherently inferior outsiders. The Islamists, like the Nazis, have a particular loathing of Jews, homosexuals and women. And for Islamists, as for fascists, the ultimate goal is to establish a vast, unconquerable territory—a “caliphate” the Jihadists call it—where their power and ideology will reign unchallenged.

Land for peace is a fiction promulgated by Islamists and credulously swallowed by most of the world. Three times in the last few decades Israel has withdrawn from territories it occupied. Anyone contemplating another withdrawal will inevitably look to what has happened in those places when considering a fourth withdrawal.

In 2005, Israel withdrew every Jewish settler and Israeli soldier from Gaza. There are exactly zero Jewish settlers or settlements in Gaza. But any hope that the end of the settlements signified the beginning of peace disappeared long ago. The border between Israel and Gaza remains a war zone with rockets being fired into Israel by Hamas and the Iran-backed Islamic Jihad organization almost from the time of the Israeli withdrawal.

Another territory from which Israel withdrew is southern Lebanon, where the radical Hezbollah Militia, Iran’s principal ally, holds about 50,000 missiles. Hezbollah fired thousands of missiles at northern Israel in 2006, and has sporadically fired missiles into Israel since. Today, the group stands shoulder to shoulder with the murderous regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as he slaughters Syrians calling for an end to his dictatorship.

Islamic apologists insist those two withdrawals did not produce peace because Israel withdrew without negotiating peace agreements. Ahem.
But consider Egypt, the country with which Israel did negotiate and sign a peace treaty. To those who insist that Israel would never exchange land for peace, it’s worth remembering that 30 years ago Israelis gave back to Egypt the Sinai Peninsula, three times the size of Israel’s entire territory, removing thousands of Israelis, and leaving behind natural gas fields, military installations and other facilities. All in exchange for a lasting peace.

In March, the newly elected Egyptian parliament, dominated by the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood, made a symbolic—unanimous—vote to expel the Israeli ambassador and stop natural gas sales to Israel. The vote came in response to a parliamentary committee report that described Israel as Egypt’s “number one enemy” proclaiming that Egypt “will never be a friend” of Israel. It also pledged support to “all forms” of Palestinian “resistance” against Israel, a thinly-veiled endorsement of violence against Israeli civilians. Days ago Egyptian President Morsi dispatched his prime minister to Gaza in support of Hamas Islamofascists.

In just sixty years Israel has transformed the inhospitable land granted by the United Nations into a country rich in education, technology, culture and democratic principles, producing ten Nobel Laureates along the way. The barbarian sacking of Rome, during which I picture bands of uncultured and uneducated individuals wandering about the Roman Forum while picking lice off one another, presaged the coming of the Dark Age in Europe. If the world does not wake up to the existential threat posed by Islamofascism we may well witness similarly benighted bands picking their noses in the ruins of the Israeli Knesset, while the Middle East and North Africa continue their inexorable slide toward their own Dark Age.

  1. We in Gaza will not die in silence

By Musa Abumarzuq – Deputy Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau

The latest Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has prompted several European countries and the US to reaffirm their position of unwavering support for the aggressor. William Hague, Britain’s foreign secretary, Cathy Ashton, the EU high representative for foreign affairs, and Barack Obama, have all claimed that Hamas’s rockets were responsible for the crisis and that it is the right of Israel to defend its citizens. Had they checked the facts, they would have realised Israel started the attacks. The escalation started when an Israeli military incursion into Gaza on 8 November killed a Palestinian child. That was followed by other Israeli incursions and attacks, provoking a response by Palestinian factions.

Despite that, there were serious efforts to calm the situation and reach a truce. But clearly Israel had another agenda. By targeting Ahmed al-Jabari, leader of the al-Qassam Brigade, it sabotaged Egyptian efforts to conclude a truce between all Palestinian factions and the Israelis. This was confirmed by Egypt’s president on Saturday.

With the approach of the Israeli elections, the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, wanted to trade with the blood of the Palestinians, especially after his alliance with the ultra-extremist Avigdor Lieberman failed to boost his popularity in the polls as he’d expected. This is not the first time the Israelis have launched a war for electoral gain. Shimon Peres did it to Lebanon in 1996 and the Olmert-Livni-Barak alliance did it to Gaza in 2008. What is important here is the immoral and short-sighted stance of the European and US governments; they have misconstrued the facts and displayed complete partiality in favour of the aggressor.

  3. @Nunnaki, You would not know or ever understand, why Almighty God, of historic divine revelation, in His Word, as recorded here, gave such instructions to Moses. Further, NO explanation, theologically, or otherwise would EVER penetrate, your arrogant, humanistic, Nunnaki/Ralian mindset.

Suffice to say, that IF* Almighty God in His Absolute Righteousness, Justice, and Holiness, were STILL dealing with wicked, evil mankind TODAY, as He DID then with the Midianites, et al, NOT ONE OF US would be alive, BUT, be warned, there IS* coming a time, very SOON, when ALL of mankind, outside of being Clothed IN* the Righteousness of His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, and living a life of Holiness, well pleasing to HIM* WILL FEEL HIS* HOLY, RIGHTEOUS, JUST WRATH, here for brief moments, THEN, hereafter, in Everlasting Torment, forever and ever. For Almighty God, has already PAID IN FULL, the Price for ALL of mankind’s Redemption, IN* the Person of His Son, Jesus Christ; so that NO ONE need go to Hell. The eternal consequence, of REJECTING His LOVE, Mercy, and Grace, IS* separation FROM, that’s what DEATH, Gk. ‘Thanatos’ means, separation FROM, or to separate, FROM His Presence, IN Everlasting misery, torment, and suffering.

Go now and Scoff, rant and rage at this!

    What about the following:
    “God commanding Moses to kill:
“They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and killed every man……..Now kill all the boys [innocent kids]. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. (Numbers 31:7,17-18)”
Kill everything that“breathes” from humans and animals! Deuteronomy 20:16″

What are your views? Would you agree with those injunctions loaded with invectives?

  5. Why wasnt the nation of israel set up in Germany instead of Palestine??

does that make sense. can’t you see the” word” self interest written on the top of this script. how then would america benefit and the christians benefit. it was all written for a fulfillment and for the satisfication and gratification of others neatly wrapped into a effervescent bowl of end times laced with death and horror dictated by Prophecy and proffitcy

  6. Death rates from melanoma down

Cancer Association credits drop to earlier diagnosis and less exposure to sun; survey shows 55% of Israelis avoid suntanning.
New survey findings from the Israel Cancer Association show a significant decline in death rates among Jews from melanoma skin cancer.

Mortality rates among Arabs have declined less, but melanoma cases among them are much fewer than among Jews because Arabs tend to wear more modest clothing.

  8. As usual Zoe and Gp will look at this from a biblical viewpoint. My question is simple…does the two factions in this scenario even care about these biblical views?

  9. Gaza family killed by Israeli airstrike

Ten members of the same Palestinian family, including four children, were among those killed when an Israeli missile struck the al-Dallu’s home in Gaza City on Sunday.

Israel says its air raids are targeting members and buildings of Hamas, a group that governs Gaza, but most of those affected by the attacks have been civilians.

Al Jazeera’s Jacky Rowland reports from Gaza.

  10. re As usual Zoe and Gp will look at this from a biblical viewpoint. My question is simple…does the two factions in this scenario even care about these biblical views?

  11. Technie only if the biblical views fit their purpose and interest which gives them the upperrhand and persumably the right to pursue their policies in which every way with justification

  12. Just a reminder of the FACTS, has Hamas changed from its agenda, in lying, and using HUMAN SHIELDS, Women, children, and anything else it can use, Mosque, Hospitals, Schools, etc, to HIDE behind! Thus, portraying Israel as this monster!

Fact #7: Arab leaders have been abusing the Palestinians for political gain since the beginning of the conflict.Certainly the most tragic example of Palestinian leaders abusing their own people is their explicit policy of maximizing their own civilian casualties in order to generate worldwide condemnation against Israel. Both Hamas in Gaza and Hizbullah in Lebanon intentionally put their own civilians in harm’s way by firing rockets from civilian areas, including hospitals, mosques, schools, UN posts, residential areas, and foreign press buildings. Hamas fighters have grabbed children off the streets to use as human shields, made their war headquarters under the largest hospital in Gaza, and booby trapped schools, zoos, civilian buildings, and even their own homes to maximize the carnage. They have prevented civilians from fleeing, broadcast messages on public television and radio calling on women and children to shield their fighters, and killed Palestinians who tried to resist being abused in this way. Civilians who were injured by Israeli attacks in both Gaza and Lebanon have blamed Palestinian terrorists for intentionally drawing fire to their homes. Several Arab leaders have also blamed Hamas and Hizbullah for dragging the region into conflict, including representatives of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Palestinian Authority, among others.

Palestinian terrorists also make it extremely difficult for Israeli forces to differentiate between civilians and combatants by abusing humanitarian symbols, including a long history of hijacking ambulances and TV vehicles to transport fighters, explosives and suicide bombers. Both Hamas and Hizbullah have fought behind white flags; their combatants fight in civilian clothes; they have also used the Red Crescent symbol to disguise combatants. In the 2009 Gaza conflict, Hamas increased rocket attacks during the ceasefires, and repeatedly stole humanitarian aid (then tried to sell it back to the people), to the extent that at one point the UN suspended delivery of aid. Hamas has attacked aid trucks and border crossings; stolen fuel; refused aid; converted medicine bottles into grenades; and barred the injured from receiving medical treatment. When issuing requests for international aid, Hamas asks for weapons and fighters, instead of basic commodities for its people. In 2007, a Gaza resident who had been receiving treatment in an Israeli hospital used her medical permit to try to blow herself up in that same hospital.

  13. The world is trouble trouble is in the world its so clear everyone can see
if we just stick together stop killing one another how glorious it would be

  14. Tell us please, which two FACTIONS were at play when Chris Brown and Rehanna were at WAR that night on the California Highway! Its called SIN at play, has NOTHING to do with Colour!

When a White man, kills or rapes a White Women, or a Black man kills or rapes a Black women, which two FACTIONS are at play here? SIN IS THE REASON, and it has NO COLOUR!

SIN permeates the ENTIRE HUMAN RACE, BAR NONE! It just manifest itself through a multiplicity of different socio/economic, and other path ways, for:

“ALL have SINNED and come SHORT of the Glory of God.” ( Rom. 3:23)
“For the WAGES of SIN is DEATH, but the Gift of God, IS* eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)

  15. Finally ZOE admits the TRUTH even though he tries to squirm his/answer around using sin as the metaphor which in translation boils down to greed and self interest .but how about prophecy

Matt 24 watch, 179f: Hamas’ calculated use of “uninvolved” civilians as human shields — a war crime, and a sign of the true nature of a terrorist regime that seized power in Gaza in 2007, as well as of the wider global threat of IslamISM as Newt Gingrich highlighted in recent comments on the Muslim Brotherhood (of which Hamas is a branch)

The use of human shields is a war crime and crime against humanity. Hamas — in yet another manifestation of their terroristic and callous nature — has routinely done this.

To help us understand what that means, the IDF has summarised their experience and intelligence on how Hamas has deliberately interwoven its weapons, explosive traps, smuggling and storage of weapons etc into the ordinary community in Gaza (including Schools etc of the UN refugee agency active in Gaza):

We need to understand this, and multiply it by the “Pallywood” street theatre techniques highlighted yesterday and the willing complicity of major international news agencies and broadcasters such as BBC in that propagandistic misrepresentation of what is actually happening. Remember, the idea is to portray Israel as attacking civilians, in order to “justify” Hamas’ own tactics of launching 12,000 rockets at communities full or ordinary people going about the ordinary affairs of life in Israel over the past twelve years.

A summary on what such harrassing fire means, even when few have been outright killed may help us understand why such behaviour is intolerable:

A latest example of this cynicism, is the bland claim that in launching a Fajr-5 rocket at Jerusalem and environs, they were targetting the Israeli parliament.

    This is a willful lie.

Hamas knows, beyond doubt, that such rockets are inherently inaccurate and that it is bombarding civilians, in hopes of inflicting casualties and in the determination to subject the general population of Israel — not its soldiery, the civilian population, including timing rocket attacks for the time of day when children are released from school — to harassing artillery fire. The underlying attitude is patent from the gharqad tree hadith that Hamas cites in its Covenant, Clause 7. Let us cite from Newt Gingrich’s recent remarks:

”The Day of Judgment will not come until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind the stones and trees. The stones and trees will say, ‘O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

As Mr Gingrich states — in context, speaking of the parent organisation, the Muslim Brotherhood (now in power in Egypt etc thanks to the so-called “Arab Spring”):

The level of self-deception necessary to misunderstand the Muslim Brotherhood verges on a psychosis.

The organization’s motto is “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Quran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”

Our elites discount all these words — and refuse to take them seriously.
Yet doesn’t the lesson of Munich in 1972, New York City on Sept. 11, Hasan at Fort Hood, the Times Square car bomber, the bombings in Iraq this week — the list is endless — show that these words matter?

Consider clause seven of one branch of the Muslim Brotherhood — Hamas.

Perhaps no one in our elites wants to read the Hamas Charter’s clause seven because it is too horrifying. Consider: ”The Day of Judgment will not come until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind the stones and trees. The stones and trees will say, ‘O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

Apologists for Hamas insist this clause has no meaning. But the Hamas leaders claim they cannot remove it from their charter.
    Mr Gingrich, chillingly, continues:
The Muslim Brotherhood, in a 1991 document called the “Explanatory Memorandum,” explained to its own supporters that its goal was “a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying Western Civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

This memo cited 29 different allied groups, including the Islamic Society of North America, the Muslim Students Association and the Islamic Association of Palestine. Leaders in some of these allied groups founded the Council on American-Islamic Relations . . . . The Muslim Brotherhood is a serious worldwide organization dedicated to a future most Americans would find appalling. Seeking to understand its reach and its impact on the U.S. government is a legitimate, indeed essential, part of our national security process.
(If you doubt Mr Gingrich’s accuracy, peruse the copy of that Document that was a part of the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial, here, and the older 1982 global Muslim Brotherhood outline of its 100 year strategy to subjugate the world under Islam, here. [This last was captured by Swiss Financial police from a Muslim financier shortly after 9/11.])

I repeat, here is the global vision sponsored by the Muslim Brotherhood:

A global IslamIST vision to first recreate the Caliphate, subjugating areas such as Nigeria, Israel, India, parts of China and Russia, etc, then the whole world (I first saw this shortly after 9/11.)
Now, all of this is easily accessible to any responsible Journalist or Editor, as is the information that would expose what the MB branch, Hamas’ real — genocidal — aims are. Those aims are the identical genocidal aims of Iran and its cat’s paw to the north of Israel, Hezbollah; which sits in a de facto Iranian colony in southern Lebanon. And, as we see North Africa from Egypt to Tunisia falling under the control of the MB, that should set warning bells ringing across the world. Especially, when we understand that through the Islamist identity politics, it is envisioned that an end of days Nietzschean super-man religious and political messianic figure — the Mahdi — is to emerge “from the direction of Khorasan” (East Iran and beyond) and conquer first the Middle East (aided by the prophesied black flag armies) then subjugate the world.

This is a very familiar pattern in politics, a grim one: fascist political messianism, the worst form of that virulent political disease.

Frankly, political messianism is a blasphemous species of idolatry.

A terrorist blew blown up a Dan local bus on Shaul HaMelech street in central Tel Aviv aroun noon. Five people suffered serious injuries, and two are in serious condition while three people are in moderate conditon. No one was killed.

Twenty-one people have been evacuated to Icholov Hospital, most of them with lesser injuries. Others are being treated for emotional shock.

Eyewitnesses said that that the terrorist boarded the bus, placed a suspicious package there and then fled. Police arrested one suspect but later released him when it became clear he had no connection with the attack.

Authorities said there was no advanced warning of a terrorist attack. No terrorist group has yet taken responsibility for the attack, but Islamic Jihad and Hamas have threatened to strike anywhere in Israel.

TV images showed the bus with its windows blown out and its metal frame contorted from the force of the blast, in images reminiscent of scenes from previous terrorist bombings in the Second Intifada, also known as the Oslo War.

The front window was completely shattered and glass littered the floor as the wounded were loaded into ambulances by an army of medics, AFP reported.

The blast took place as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in Israel for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on ways to end a deadly spike in bloodshed in and around Gaza over the past week.

Netanyahu’s spokesman said it was “a terrorist attack.”

Gaza Arabs celebrated the attack, and Hamas officials said it was carried out in revenge for Israeli aerial bombings in Gaza that killed several members of one family.

  21. Guess they didnt see this coming!!!!

Many injured in Tel Aviv bus explosion

At least 21 people have been injured in an explosion on a bus in Israel’s commercial capital, Tel Aviv, in what police described as a “terrorist attack”.

The blast shattered windows on the bus as it drove along a tree-lined street next to Israel’s huge defence ministry complex on Wednesday.

Emergency services said five of the wounded were in a serious or moderate condition.

Police said it was not a suicide attack and suggested that someone might have left the device on the bus.

“We do believe it was a terrorist attack,” Israeli police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld told Al Jazeera.

The bombing happened on the eighth day of an Israeli offensive against the Palestinian Gaza Strip and coincided with intensive diplomatic efforts to secure a lasting truce.

    The empire strikes back.

Does anyone remember that most of the slave ships that brought African Slaves to the So called New World were owned and Captained by Jews?
From The Slave Trade by Hugh Thomas
…….”The slave trade to Cuba still seemed to be increasing. For example, in 1837 an English abolitionist, David Turnbull, who had traveled in the West Indies, including Cuba, thought that out of seventy one (71) slave ships operating on the coasts of Cuba, forty (40) were Portuguese (if probably owned by Cubans) 19 Spanish,11 Unites States and 1 Swedish.”

  23. Yes David….brokered by the Muslim Brotherhood who was just a few months ago seen as a Terrorist group.
The lying Israeli spokesman claimed Hamas was handing out candy to kids in the streets of Gaza to celebrate the bus attack, while the international media stationed right there in Gaza never saw this as the streets were empty because they expected a swift and deadly response from the IDF.
Reminds me of the false file footage that was shown all over the world by networks shortly after the 911 tragedy of Arabs celebrating the destruction of the twin towers…..that turned out to be false.
Maybe now they can really sit and bring an end to the outdated blockade on the Palestinian people so they can live like humans and rebuild their lives and city…maybe even become prosperous, at least give them hope and a feeling of entitlement, according to the UN Bill of Human Rights.
The Egyptian leader is walking a tight rope.

“The following passages are from Dr. Raphael’s book Jews and Judaism in the United States: A Documentary History (New York: Behrman House, Inc., Pub, 1983), pp. 14, 23-25.

“Jews also took an active part in the Dutch colonial slave trade; indeed, the bylaws of the Recife and Mauricia congregations (1648) included an imposta (Jewish tax) of five soldos for each Negro slave a Brazilian Jew purchased from the West Indies Company. Slave auctions were postponed if they fell on a Jewish holiday. In Curacao in the seventeenth century, as well as in the British colonies of Barbados and Jamaica in the eighteenth century, Jewish merchants played a major role in the slave trade. In fact, in all the American colonies, whether French (Martinique), British, or Dutch, Jewish merchants frequently dominated. ”

you notice that BARBADOS is in there?

Keep in mind that this is only a partial list of the Jews who made fantastic sums of money off the slave trade. And that’s why African-Americans will never ever see any “reparation” money. The Jews who made their fortunes off that heinous trade will never give up one single, shekel. But they will continue to “shakedown” the rest of the world for the alleged crimes committed during WW II. That’s why it’s called “The HOLOCAU$T INDUSTRY”

  26. THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD, what is its official Credo?

The Brotherhood’s credo was and is, “Allah is our objective; the Quran is our law, the Prophet is our leader; Jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations.”[15][16] The Brotherhood’s English language website describes the “principles of the Muslim Brotherhood” as including firstly the introduction of the Islamic Shari`ah as “the basis for controlling the affairs of state and society;” and secondly work to unify “Islamic countries and states, mainly among the Arab states, and liberating them from foreign imperialism”.[17]

Matt 24 watch, 179i: “There is no substitute for victory” — why the latest ceasefire/truce is doomed to fail, and why defending one’s civilian population on the installment plan against genocidal opponents cannot work

Hamas et al plainly view the achievement of a ceasefire as a victory, i.e. they see the pressure from the Obama administration used to get the premature ceasefire as stopping Israel from defeating them, so that they can get back to business as usual:
terrorism that targets Israeli civilians, behind the shield of the people of Gaza held hostage.

And in particular — given that the pivotal point used to enforce the halt obviously was that a ground invasion by Israel would cause civilian deaths in Gaza — they have been reinforced in their view that targetting civilians while using one’s own civilians as human shields is an effective strategy.

This is of course a double war-crime.

Not that you would learn this from the major international news and views coverage.

Geller has captured Hamas Tweets that show the underlying attitude of the terrorists:
    Alqassam Brigades ‏@AlqassamBrigade

Oh, Zionists, #Netanyahu’s government dragging you for hell, you have the choice whether to stay in hell or escape, go back home in Germany.

    Alqassam Brigades ‏@AlqassamBrigade
We told you #IDF that our blessed hands will reach your leaders and soldiers wherever they are, “You opened the Gates of Hell on Yourselves”

“Go back home to Germany” is of course a lie — most Israeli Jews are or are directly descended from the Jews of the Middle East driven out by Arab states in the aftermath of the UN partition vote in 1947, the genocidal attack by five Arab armies under the Arab League in May 1948, and Israel’s victory. So, Israel is first and foremost legitimate as a land of settlement of refugees who cannot go “home” to genocidal Arab countries. The pretence that Israel is a racist colonial settlement from Germany etc is a lie.

The tweets also make it plain that Hamas views the ceasefire as having saved them so that they can renew the conflict later on their own terms — as Mohammed did with a truce with Mecca (i.e. he broke it at a time of his choosing, on some flimsy excuse or other, to renew his attacks). Hamas’ aims, of course, are terroristic and genocidal.

This, in a context where within several months Iran is liable to cross the red line to nukes.

So, we must ask, if the Obama regime is so unwilling to allow terrorists to be decisively defeated and rooted out now, what would their attitude be in the face of an Iran that is or “could” be nuke armed?

(Which is likely to be so within months.)

Where also, it is quite clear that Hamas sees itself as being shielded from the consequences of its terroristic rocketing of Israel, so it is not being deterred or contained.

Indeed, the weapons being used in its terror bombardment are plainly getting worse and worse.

The Obama regime cannot be ignorant of these factors, and so its fundamental hostility to and undermining of Israel and Jews in general — the targets of the genocidal ambitions of both Hamas and Iran — lies exposed.

Sorry if that sounds harsh, but there comes a time to face hard facts that have become evident. The Obama White House is conniving at shielding genocidal, war-crimes committing terrorists, is treating them as though they were legitimate partners, and is running out the clock on Iran. With highly predictable, all but certainly horrific consequences.

If you doubt me, observe this (and do read the wider context) from Israel Matzav:

In an earlier post, I reported that President Obama refused to back an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza unless Prime Minister Netanyahu agreed that ousting Hamas would lead to Abu Mazen taking over Gaza, and being given a ‘state’ in much of Judea and Samaria as well. Assuming that post is correct, I concluded that Prime Minister Netanyahu refused to take the bait, and chose to let Hamas live another day rather than letting Abu Mazen have his ‘state’ without negotiations. I wrote that was probably the right decision for Israel. And if that’s true, I still believe that [–> in the face of such alternatives] Prime Minister Netanyahu made the right choice.

In short, if this summary — and the diplomatic exchange discussed looks convincing — the alternatives offered to Israel by Obama and Clinton were (i) another round of installment plan conflict, or (ii) establishing, right away, without proper negotiations that could give any reasonable assurance of genuine peace, a larger terrorism-driven and genocidal Palestinian Arab state that would predictably serve as a platform for onward war against Israel. (Let us not forget, EVERY “land for peace” deal or retreat with the Palestinian Arabs or their close allies since 1993 has simply provided a further platform for attacking Israel, with Gaza itself as exhibit no 1.)

Such willful obtuseness in the teeth of obvious but unwelcome facts is astonishing. And, revealing.

The bottomline is plain, as Douglas MacArthur long ago put it: there is no substitute for victory.

But that ill-judged attempt is exactly what is going on, in a world that willfully looks on and refuses to face the unpleasant truth about Hamas, its ideology, and its behaviour as well as its backers in Iran.

We are saying “peace, peace,” where there is no peace.

As usual, in the face of the obvious build up of an aggressive power.

Paraphrasing George Santayana, those who refuse to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat its worst chapters, but by and large that is exactly what we insist on doing. That is why we make the same mistakes over and over and over, and it is why we keep getting into the same sort of messes again and again.

    The alternative?

First, draw teh red line with Iran, then make it plain tothe Palestinian Arabs that any further resort to terrorism would be a fatal mistake. Then, from a position of strength, negotiate with credible, moderate partners, to find a reasonable solution.

Where, since Jordan is already a Palestinian Arab State carved out of the lands of the League of Nations mandate — it is about 3/4’s of the original post WWI “Palestine” — and has a proved track record of moderation, the best solution probably would be to bring the West Bank Palestinians under the government of Jordan. Indeed, that was where Israel and Jordan were headed in 1986, which is why the first “Intifada” happened at that time. The terrorists do not want a settlement with Israel, they want a radical “solution” based on the genocidal destruction ofIsrael per the infamous “prophetic” Gharqad Tree hadith in the Hamas Covenant, Article 7:

”The Day of Judgment will not come until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind the stones and trees. The stones and trees will say, ‘O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

So, it is likely that Obama and Clinton offered Israel a cruel dilemma, and more ominously, it is clear that the situation with Iran is out of control. This last means that either Israel will have to attack it alone in a high-risk strike, or the world will have to face a genocidal, apocalyptic global conquest regime that backs terrorists and sits on the world’s oil jugular vein, the Straights of Hormuz.

  28. that is why the socalled jews are not the original jews because they would have understand the plight of their brothers and sisters as recorded in bible literature living in the wilderness and trying to fight their way for freedom and never have subjected them to another life of slavery the stories of the jewish slave trade is enough evedience to prove that the jews of israel are impostors and not the original jews,

  29. @ ac
Never mind Zoe, he is mostly trying to convince himself.
Anyone who claims to be such an exponent of Christianity and who cannot answer basic anomalies such as
    – why God created the devil
    – why Jesus deliberately hid the truth from followers
    – why he believes in a ‘Trinity’ , when everything in HIS bible says otherwise
And why, if God is so protective of ‘Israel’, they have to spend so much of their GDP buying and building complex weapons for their protection.
Is their God unable to protect them from Hamas? ….and if so, how then will he protect them when the REAL shit hits the fan….?

When it becomes clear who the “remnants” of the people of God really are, even you will be shocked ac.
You will come to realize that the Dipper was even more astute than he is given credit for…..

No surprise however, – Zoe’s own bible says that at the time of the end, “the first shall be last and the last shall be first”. In other words, everything shall be “up-sided-down”.
We should not therefore be surprised that a group of money grabbing fascists could be claiming to be the “people of God”……while the real people of God consider themselves to be the very bottom of the barrel, third class human classification. LOL,
WE even call ourselves “Third world”……. 🙂

  30. With Iran in the forefront, and the rise of the Arab Spring turning Islamist winter is a mark of the re-emergence of the caliphate with intent to conquer the world under the expected all-conquering, super-man figure, the Mahdi.

And yes, I am implying that this is an aggressive version of fascist political messianism, one that is dangerously parallel to nazism.

Nor, am I the first to notice that.

The moderate Muslims of Algeria long ago termed the Islamists, Islamofascists. As Robert Spencer noted in a 2007 Frontpage article:
Algerian sociologist Marieme Helie Lucas’s observation that the term “Islamo-Fascism” was “initially coined by Algerian people struggling for democracy, against armed fundamentalist forces decimating people in our country, then later operating in Europe, where a number of us had taken refuge.”

In other words, the term “Islamo-Fascism” originates with moderate Muslims under attack from Muslim hardliners, who murdered more than 150,000 Muslims whom they regarded as infidels in Algeria in the 1990s . . . . [W]hat could be a more precise term to describe the codification of the moral guidance of the Qur’an into a totalitarian system that attempts to regulate an individual’s entire way of life, as the world has seen in the Iranian and Taliban regimes?

So also, it can be seen regarding several Islamist movements:
In terms of . . . specific terrorist groups and entities . . . all of them — along with many others — have indeed made clear that they wish to destroy the United States and dominate the world under an oppressive caliphate – that is, a unified Islamic state ruled by Islamic Sharia law:

*Al-Qaeda: Osama bin Laden has said that the 9/11 attacks strengthened the Muslims, “which is a very good sign and a great step towards the unity of Muslims and establishing the Righteous Islamic Khilafah [caliphate] insha-Allah [Allah willing].” His second-in-command, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, has declared: “The war with Israel is not about a treaty, a cease-fire agreement, Sykes-Picot borders, national zeal, or disputed borders. It is rather a jihad for the sake of God until the religion of God is established. It is jihad for the liberation of Palestine, all Palestine, as well as every land that was a home for Islam, from Andalusia to Iraq. The whole world is an open field for us.”

*Hamas: The Hamas Charter sets out its Islamic mission as global: “Its spatial dimension extends wherever on earth there are Muslims, who adopt Islam as their way of life; thus, it penetrates to the deepest reaches of the land and to the highest spheres of Heavens. . . . By virtue of the distribution of Muslims, who pursue the cause of the Hamas, all over the globe, and strive for its victory, for the reinforcement of its positions and for the encouragement of its Jihad, the Movement is a universal one.” Universal in what way? The Palestinian Sheikh Ibrahim Madhi exhorted believers in 2002 “Oh beloved, look to the East of the earth, find Japan and the ocean; look to the West of the earth, find [some] country and the ocean. Be assured that these will be owned by the Muslim nation, as the Hadith says . . . ‘from the ocean to the ocean.’”

*The Muslim Brotherhood: Its founder, Hasan Al-Banna, wrote that “it is a duty incumbent on every Muslim to struggle towards the aim of making every people Muslim and the whole world Islamic, so that the banner of Islam can flutter over the earth and the call of the Muezzin can resound in all the corners of the world: God is greatest [Allahu akbar]!” Despite recent claims to the contrary, there is no evidence that the Brotherhood has renounced this goal.

*Hezbollah: Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has made clear that he wishes to pose a threat to the United States: “Let the entire world hear me. Our hostility to the Great Satan is absolute.…I conclude my speech with the slogan that will continue to reverberate on all occasions so that nobody will think that we have weakened. Regardless of how the world has changed after 11 September, Death to America will remain our reverberating and powerful slogan: Death to America.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran: While as a Shi’ite he does not wish to see the establishment of a caliphate, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad harbors similar dreams of Islamic domination. He said in 2005: “we will soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism and will breathe in the brilliant time of Islamic sovereignty over today’s world.”
Now, let us not forget, Mussolini sought to become a modern-day Caesar and Hitler outright set out on world conquest.

So, it should not surprise us that there are chillingly close resemblances between the classical fascism that swept Europe in the 1920’s and 30’s, and has had echoes in many times and places since then, and the Islamist eschatological hope in an end of days superman figure who is to be the final, all-conquering, all-ruling Caliph; the Mahdi?

A Mahdi, who — together with his lieutenant, prophet Isa — a latterday Islamic version on Jesus — is expected to lead in the final slaughter of the Jews sand in the destruction of the Christian faith. The Jews are to be killed, as are all pigs, the crosses are to be broken and Christians converted to Muslims, and the world is to be conquered with Mahdi leading in effect a global revolution.

Are we willing to face such an unwelcome reality?

Including the implications of such Middle East instability for the price of oil that could easily surge to several times the currently destabilising level of US$ 100 – 120 per barrel for the benchmark Brent North Sea Crude?

What will we do if and when oil surges to US$ 200 or 300 or worse per barrel?

What are we doing about energy now?

    (Why do I hear chirping crickets . . . ?)

As bad as war and instability are, that is not the most dangerous aspect of the unwelcome realities and trends we face as a region today.

As in, are we willing to understand that our region is under spiritual and geo-strategic pressure from two directions, the dechristianising apostasies of the North and the apocalyptic Islamists of the East?

Both of which exploit our weaknesses:

    The two tidal waves

So, the first challenge is to us, to understand our times, to strengthen ourselves in the face of a time of ever accelerating waves of troubles and deception. As in, birth pangs.

And so, are we equipping ourselves to take our part in the global mandate of bearing witness to the gospel of peace that is the real alternative to the folly, deception and chaos of our day? END

  31. Accuracy Of Prophecy

Perhaps the most compelling of evidences demonstrating that the Bible is the word of God is its unswerving ability to accurately predict future events, often in minute details. Specific prophesies are conspicuously absent from the 26 other religious books that claim to be scripture, including the Muslim’s Koran, the Book of Mormon, the Hindu Vedas, and Buddhist writings1. This in itself should be a major eye-opener to the honest skeptic. God through the prophet Isaiah once challenged the pagan idolaters of that time to “tell us what the future holds, so we may know that you are gods (Isaiah 41:23).”

    The Jewish Nation

Perhaps the greatest and most obvious testimony to the accuracy of Biblical prophecy is provided by the people and nation of Israel. The Jews went without a homeland for 1900 years, just as God had promised numerous times in the Old Testament2, as a reluctant judgment on His rebellious chosen people. Moses warned Israel that if they corrupted themselves, then “the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other (Deut 28:64, KJV)”. Remarkably, this century God restored the Jews to their ancient homeland, fulfilling many other specific Old Testament prophesies3.

It is inconceivable to me how the honest skeptic could deny God’s handiwork in the history of the people of Israel. Throughout history the “wandering Jew” has been hated and despised, yet despite the unbelievable persecution they endured, the Jews somehow managed to maintain their identity such that when God’s timeclock warranted they were able to re-group as a nation in their ancient homeland. Indeed, history is replete with once great nations which were eventually overrun and defeated, but whose people were over time absorbed into the culture of the conquering nation. The fact that this did not happen to the Jews is nothing short of miraculous. There are American Jews, German Jews, Russian Jews, etc.; have you ever heard of a German Babalonian, or an American Philistine? The plight of this small percentage of humanity is certainly unique and unprecedented in the annals of world history.

Finally, who can deny the volatility of the Middle East, with Israel as the boiling point, and the worldwide focus of attention she receives. Bear this in mind when reading the following Bible passage, written almost 2500 years ago, and also consider that this was written at a time when Jerusalem was in complete ruins:

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it… For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle (Zech 12:2-3, Zech 14:2-3 KJV).”

As noted author Dave Hunt so aptly put it:

The fulfillment of hundreds of specific prophecies in the ancient and modern history of the Jewish people is God’s great sign to mankind–a sign that no one can mistake or deny…Jewish history stands as a universal visible monument to God’s existence4.

Predicted Fate of Numerous Cities and Nations

What if I were to give you the following predictions:

    1. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iran) will destroy all but the island portion of New York City.
    2. Many nations will fight against New York City.
    3. The debris from the buildings in New York City will be thrown in the water to access Long Island.
    4. New York City will be made a bare and flat like the top of a rock.
    5. Fishermen will spread their nets over the heap that was once New York City.
    6. New York City will never be re-built.
    7. New York City’s glory will never be restored.
    8. I will be laughed at and mocked, and disregarded as a lunatic.

I’m sure the last one is about the only one I would get right! I would certainly have earned my rightful place in the heap of ridicule. What is amazing is that the prophet Ezekiel made these same predictions (except for 8, of course), with Nebuchadnezzar replacing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Tyre replacing New York City/Long Island – his prophecy was fulfilled to the last detail!

At the time Ezekiel made this prophecy (Ezekiel 26), Tyre was a powerful city holding a stature much like that of New York City today. Three years after the prophecy Nebuchadnezzar indeed laid siege to the city5. The inhabitants all but abandoned the city and moved off-shore to a nearby island, where they fortified themselves and remained a powerful city for several hundred more years. During this time it must have seemed that Ezekiel’s prophecy was not wholly correct, but then came Alexander the Great, who eventually built a causeway to the island using debris from the old mainland city of Tyre!6 More conquerors were to follow7. It wasn’t until the 12th century A.D. before the final prophetic chapter was closed on the once great city of Tyre. Its fitting that a secular historian would eventually write the following:

…[Tyre] never regained the place she had previously held in the world. The larger part of the site of the once great city is now bare as the top of a rock – a place where the fishermen that still frequent the spot spread their nets to dry8.

Let’s see how well the previous description of present-day Tyre matches what the Bible had to say:

“And they shall destroy the walls of Tyrus, and break down her towers: I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock. It shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD: and it shall become a spoil to the nations (Ezek 26:4-5 KJV).”

The Tyre prophecy is but one of about 1500 Old Testament prophesies of minute detail relating to cities or nations that have already been fulfilled. Anyone can verify the numerous fulfilled prophesies of such cities as Sidon, Edom, Samaria, and nations such as Egypt, Babylon, and Rome.

Speaking of Egypt, there is another prophecy also recorded in Ezekiel that I would like to share with you: “and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt (Ezek 30:13, KJV).” Twenty-five hundred years have passed since this prophecy, and during this period of time not one of its numerous ruling princes were Egyptian! This would be similar to my predicting that their would never again be an American elected President of the United States, and having it actually come true.

  32. Messianic Prophesies

Dr. D. James Kennedy wrote of an encounter he had with a Jewish man who said he did not believe in Christ. Dr. Kennedy responded that he was sorry to hear that, and added “…Since He is the Messiah of the Jewish people who was promised in the Old Testament, you have rejected your own Messiah.” He then went on to share with the Jewish man a few verses of scripture:

“All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads: ‘He trusts in the LORD; let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him (Ps 22:7-8)”

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed (Isa 53:5)”

“Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me (Ps 41:9).”

“They have pierced my hands and my feet (Ps 22:16).”

“Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors (Isa 53:12).”

“They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son (Zech 12:10).”

When Dr. Kennedy finished reading these scriptures to the Jewish man, he asked him to whom these verses were referring to. The man responded that “Obviously they are talking about Jesus… So what?”. Dr. Kennedy then pointed out that all the verses he had just read to him were from the Old Testament! The man was stunned and demanded to see the passages with his own eyes9.

According to secular sources, crucifixion was invented as a method of capital punishment no earlier than the 6th century BC10. This is 4 centuries after David wrote in Psalms 22:16, “They have pierced my hands and my feet”. Even if critics try to persuade against a 1000 BC date for Psalms 22, they can’t deny this Psalm existed in the Septuagint and Dead Sea Scrolls that were translated around 200 BC11. Does the critic really want to try to convince us that a Jesus pretender would want to self-fulfill such a terrible way to die?

The Old Testament contains 333 prophesies regarding the Messiah, most of which were fulfilled by the first coming of Jesus Christ. Even the most liberal critics acknowledge that these prophesies were written at least 400 years before Christ. Mathematicians have easily shown that the odds of all these prophesies being fulfilled by chance in one man is greater than the number of atoms in the universe many times over.

    New Age “Prophets”

Some critics will point to the “success” of non-biblical “prophets” such as Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, and Jeane Dixon, to name a few. A careful and subjective check of their methods, however, reveals that their predictions were really no better than you or I or the local fortune-teller could make. Take Jeane Dixon, for example. The prediction that made her famous, regarding the assassination of JFK, was really not that amazing after all. She predicted that “the Democratic contender will win, but he will be assassinated or die in office, though not necessarily in the first term”. Considering the history of past presidents, and the fact that she allowed 8 years for the event to occur, her chance of success was 7 to 3! She also prophesied that WWIII would begin in 1954, Nixon would defeat Kennedy (contradicting her earlier prediction!), and Jacqueline Kennedy would not marry Aristotle Onasis (she married him the next day!). This is but a handful of her false prophesies.

These “prophets” were also frequently so vague in the predictions they made that you could mold them into about any historical event you wanted. Its amazing to read about the events that Nostradamus supposedly prophesied about, then compare the details of the event with what Nostradamus actually wrote. You’re left asking, how in the heck did they draw those conclusions?! Note that these “experts” on Nostradamus’s work were only able to make their claims after the supposedly predicted event had passed. This complete lack of a priori analysis, coupled with the incredibly vague nature of the Nostradamus “prophesies”, should be more than enough reason for the honest inquirer to dismiss any claims of prophetic success put forth by Nostradamus’s advocates12. In contrast, most of the Biblical prophesies are specific and detailed, with quite a few interpreted a priori13.

To the Christian the afore-mentioned individuals are easily exposed as false prophets based on the Biblical tests for a prophet. The Bible forbids the use of occult artifacts, which all were guilty of, and more importantly,

“If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him. (Deut 18:22)”

The Bible contains over 2000 prophesies that have been fulfilled, many with very specific details. One must ask himself why he would remain skeptical in light of this incontrovertible evidence. It would seem that if someone was honestly seeking the truth, it would certainly be a worthwhile effort to to at least investigate a handful of these prophesies. Psalm 22 would be a good start – it contains several prophesies describing Christ’s crucifixion, a method of execution that wasn’t invented until several centuries after King David wrote about it. A Bible and an encyclopedia is all one would need to verify the prophetic accuracy of Psalm 22.

“Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, ‘My idols did them; my wooden image and metal god ordained them (Isaiah 48:5).”

  33. Come NOW skeptics, SCOFFERS and MOCKERS of God’s Word, the Bible, refute, I challenge you to REFUTE, the glimmer here presented of the ACCURACY of Almighty God’s Word, and the Logical consistency, Empirical Adequacy, and Experiencial Relevancy, CONFIRMING the absolute veracity of HIS Word, the Bible!

Unfulfilled Prophecy: Evidence for the Reliability of the Bible
August 22, 2003 By Dr. Hugh Ross

Unique among all books ever written, the Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors.

(The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.) Since the probability for any one of these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance averages less than one in ten (figured very conservatively) and since the prophecies are for the most part independent of one another, the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 2000 zeros written after it)!

God is not the only one, however, who uses forecasts of future events to get people’s attention. Satan does, too. Through clairvoyants (such as Jeanne Dixon and Edgar Cayce), mediums, spiritists, and others, come remarkable predictions, though rarely with more than about 60 percent accuracy, never with total accuracy. Messages from Satan, furthermore, fail to match the detail of Bible prophecies, nor do they include a call to repentance.

The acid test for identifying a prophet of God is recorded by Moses in Deuteronomy 18:21-22. According to this Bible passage (and others), God’s prophets, as distinct from Satan’s spokesmen, are 100 percent accurate in their predictions. There is no room for error.

As economy does not permit an explanation of all the Biblical prophecies that have been fulfilled, what follows in a discussion of a few that exemplify the high degree of specificity, the range of projection, and/or the “supernature” of the predicted events. Readers are encouraged to select others, as well, and to carefully examine their historicity.

    (1) Some time before 500 B.C. the prophet Daniel proclaimed that Israel’s long-awaited Messiah would begin his public ministry 483 years after the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25-26). He further predicted that the Messiah would be “cut off,” killed, and that this event would take place prior to a second destruction of Jerusalem. Abundant documentation shows that these prophecies were perfectly fulfilled in the life (and crucifixion) of Jesus Christ. The decree regarding the restoration of Jerusalem was issued by Persia’s King Artaxerxes to the Hebrew priest Ezra in 458 B.C., 483 years later the ministry of Jesus Christ began in Galilee. (Remember that due to calendar changes, the date for the start of Christ’s ministry is set by most historians at about 26 A.D. Also note that from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D. is just one year.) Jesus’ crucifixion occurred only a few years later, and about four decades later, in 70 A.D. came the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)*

    (2) In approximately 700 B.C. the prophet Micah named the tiny village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of Israel’s Messiah (Micah 5:2). The fulfillment of this prophecy in the birth of Christ is one of the most widely known and widely celebrated facts in history.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)

    (3) In the fifth century B.C. a prophet named Zechariah declared that the Messiah would be betrayed for the price of a slave—thirty pieces of silver, according to Jewish law-and also that this money would be used to buy a burial ground for Jerusalem’s poor foreigners (Zechariah 11:12-13). Bible writers and secular historians both record thirty pieces of silver as the sum paid to Judas Iscariot for betraying Jesus, and they indicate that the money went to purchase a “potter’s field,” used—just as predicted—for the burial of poor aliens (Matthew 27:3-10).

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1011.)

    (4) Some 400 years before crucifixion was invented, both Israel’s King David and the prophet Zechariah described the Messiah’s death in words that perfectly depict that mode of execution. Further, they said that the body would be pierced and that none of the bones would be broken, contrary to customary procedure in cases of crucifixion (Psalm 22 and 34:20; Zechariah 12:10). Again, historians and New Testament writers confirm the fulfillment: Jesus of Nazareth died on a Roman cross, and his extraordinarily quick death eliminated the need for the usual breaking of bones. A spear was thrust into his side to verify that he was, indeed, dead.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1013.)

    (5) The prophet Isaiah foretold that a conqueror named Cyrus would destroy seemingly impregnable Babylon and subdue Egypt along with most of the rest of the known world. This same man, said Isaiah, would decide to let the Jewish exiles in his territory go free without any payment of ransom (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1; and 45:13). Isaiah made this prophecy 150 years before Cyrus was born, 180 years before Cyrus performed any of these feats (and he did, eventually, perform them all), and 80 years before the Jews were taken into exile.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1015.)

    (6) Mighty Babylon, 196 miles square, was enclosed not only by a moat, but also by a double wall 330 feet high, each part 90 feet thick. It was said by unanimous popular opinion to be indestructible, yet two Bible prophets declared its doom. These prophets further claimed that the ruins would be avoided by travelers, that the city would never again be inhabited, and that its stones would not even be moved for use as building material (Isaiah 13:17-22 and Jeremiah 51:26, 43). Their description is, in fact, the well-documented history of the famous citadel.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 109.)

    (7) The exact location and construction sequence of Jerusalem’s nine suburbs was predicted by Jeremiah about 2600 years ago. He referred to the time of this building project as “the last days,” that is, the time period of Israel’s second rebirth as a nation in the land of Palestine (Jeremiah 31:38-40). This rebirth became history in 1948, and the construction of the nine suburbs has gone forward precisely in the locations and in the sequence predicted.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1018.)

    (8) The prophet Moses foretold (with some additions by Jeremiah and Jesus) that the ancient Jewish nation would be conquered twice and that the people would be carried off as slaves each time, first by the Babylonians (for a period of 70 years), and then by a fourth world kingdom (which we know as Rome). The second conqueror, Moses said, would take the Jews captive to Egypt in ships, selling them or giving them away as slaves to all parts of the world. Both of these predictions were fulfilled to the letter, the first in 607 B.C. and the second in 70 A.D. God’s spokesmen said, further, that the Jews would remain scattered throughout the entire world for many generations, but without becoming assimilated by the peoples or of other nations, and that the Jews would one day return to the land of Palestine to re-establish for a second time their nation (Deuteronomy 29; Isaiah 11:11-13; Jeremiah 25:11; Hosea 3:4-5 and Luke 21:23-24).

This prophetic statement sweeps across 3500 years of history to its complete fulfillment—in our lifetime.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 120.)

    (9) Jeremiah predicted that despite its fertility and despite the accessibility of its water supply, the land of Edom (today a part of Jordan) would become a barren, uninhabited wasteland (Jeremiah 49:15-20; Ezekiel 25:12-14). His description accurately tells the history of that now bleak region.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)

    (10) Joshua prophesied that Jericho would be rebuilt by one man. He also said that the man’s eldest son would die when the reconstruction began and that his youngest son would die when the work reached completion (Joshua 6:26). About five centuries later this prophecy found its fulfillment in the life and family of a man named Hiel (1 Kings 16:33-34).

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 107).

    (11) The day of Elijah’s supernatural departure from Earth was predicted unanimously—and accurately, according to the eye-witness account—by a group of fifty prophets (2 Kings 2:3-11).

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 109).

    (12) Jahaziel prophesied that King Jehoshaphat and a tiny band of men would defeat an enormous, well-equipped, well-trained army without even having to fight. Just as predicted, the King and his troops stood looking on as their foes were supernaturally destroyed to the last man (2 Chronicles 20).

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 108).

    (13) One prophet of God (unnamed, but probably Shemiah) said that a future king of Judah, named Josiah, would take the bones of all the occultic priests (priests of the “high places”) of Israel’s King Jeroboam and burn them on Jeroboam’s altar (1 Kings 13:2 and 2 Kings 23:15-18). This event occurred approximately 300 years after it was foretold.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1013).

Since these thirteen prophecies cover mostly separate and independent events, the probability of chance occurrence for all thirteen is about 1 in 10138 (138 equals the sum of all the exponents of 10 in the probability estimates above). For the sake of putting the figure into perspective, this probability can be compared to the statistical chance that the second law of thermodynamics will be reversed in a given situation (for example, that a gasoline engine will refrigerate itself during its combustion cycle or that heat will flow from a cold body to a hot body)—that chance = 1 in 1080. Stating it simply, based on these thirteen prophecies alone, the Bible record may be said to be vastly more reliable than the second law of thermodynamics. Each reader should feel free to make his own reasonable estimates of probability for the chance fulfillment of the prophecies cited here. In any case, the probabilities deduced still will be absurdly remote.

Given that the Bible proves so reliable a document, there is every reason to expect that the remaining 500 prophecies, those slated for the “time of the end,” also will be fulfilled to the last letter. Who can afford to ignore these coming events, much less miss out on the immeasurable blessings offered to anyone and everyone who submits to the control of the Bible’s author, Jesus Christ? Would a reasonable person take lightly God’s warning of judgment for those who reject what they know to be true about Jesus Christ and the Bible, or who reject Jesus’ claim on their lives?

*The estimates of probability included herein come from a group of secular research scientists. As an example of their method of estimation, consider their calculations for this first prophecy cited:

•Since the Messiah’s ministry could conceivably begin in any one of about 5000 years, there is, then, one chance in about 5000 that his ministry could begin in 26 A.D.

•Since the Messiah is God in human form, the possibility of his being killed is considerably low, say less than one chance in 10.

•Relative to the second destruction of Jerusalem, this execution has roughly an even chance of occurring before or after that event, that is, one chance in 2.

Hence, the probability of chance fulfillment for this prophecy is 1 in 5000 x 10 x 2, which is 1 in 100,000, or 1 in 105.

  34. “In the wake of the recent Gaza conflict it has become apparent that the Iron Dome system, designed and built by Israel and paid for by U.S. taxpayers, was not proven 100%.

Although Iron Dome intercepted many of the hundreds of missiles fired by Hamas some still got through.

Even as the Israeli authorities bragged about the system’s successful interception rate, which provided a much needed morale booster for Israelis; they have been less than forthcoming about its failings.

As a chorus of approval sounded for Iron Dome’s performance, it’s becoming apparent that in addition to many successful interceptions the system also had some significant failings.

For example, yesterday Nov 21, Hamas fired 116 rockets at Israel. Of these 26 were intercepted by Iron Dome, which is a success rate of only around 20% or one out of every five missiles.

Whatever the Israeli authorities may call it, that it is not an outstanding success rate or even a good one.”

  35. Cutting and pasting is NOT having a conversation.

There will be opportunity for peace in the ME unless Hamas is recognised at the table by Israel and the world.

  36. @David “Cutting and pasting is NOT having a conversation.”

“There will be (no) opportunity in the ME unless Hamas is recognized at the table by Israel and the world.”

David, have you read carefully, and do you understand, THAT, HAMAS’ Charter CALLS for the DESTRUCTION, (read) ANNIHILATION of the state of Israel. Do you understand, David, that it is NOT* peace with Israel that Hamas wants and desires, as NO amount of Land for peace solutions will EVER satisfy the PLO/PA, Hamas, Hezbollah, or Iran, they, the Islamo/fascists, Jihadists, WANT the ANNIHILATION of Israel. Its all there in the OPEN David, written and spoken, time and time again, David, for the WHOLE world to see.

David, are you BLIND in your MIND, or what?

    Hamas leaves Israel no choice
    by Danny Ayalon—

Hamas’s charter includes the aspiration that “The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews)”. While many concentrate on its death-cult worship, its bloodthirsty killing of adversaries, or its contempt for women, Christians and homosexuals, it is this aspiration for genocide that is at the root of Hamas activities. This is the primary reason why Hamas, the governing regime in Gaza, will never recognize or accept a peace accord with Israel in any form.

Since Israel left Gaza in 2005, thousands of rockets have rained down on Israeli cities and towns in deliberate contravention not just of international law, but all humanity and morality. While some might suggest the so-called blockade is the cause of the attacks, it is actually a consequence. The restrictions were only implemented two years after Israel left Gaza, when it was clear that instead of building a “Singapore of the Middle East”, Hamas was interested in importing stockpiles of weapons from places like Iran. Instead of building a future for its people, Hamas built an open-air prison for the million and a half inhabitants who fell into its grasp.

However, Gaza was never enough for an organisation whose raison d’etre is the annihilation of Israel, and whose charter begins with the ominous warning that “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it”. Read on…

Giulio Meotti said: There is a gap wider than the ocean between the way Israelis look at life and the way the Hamas – and not only the Hamas – do. Hamas MP Fathi Hamed, addressing Israel, said, “We desire death more than you desire life.” Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah, in the same vein, said “We are going to win, because they love life and we love death.” Osama bin Laden declared: “We love death. The U.S. loves life. That is the big difference between us.” “The Americans love Pepsi-Cola, we love death,” explained al Qaeda operative Maulana Inyadullah. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared: “It is the zenith of honor for a man to be prepared to sacrifice his life in order to serve the interests of his nation and his religion.”

Hamas’s armed wing reported that it has prepared its forces in Gaza to engage the Israeli army by deploying “suicide units,” read women. In Arabic it’s the “istishhadiyah”, the female version of martyrdom. Richard Wagner offered us the terrorists’ final scenario: the twilight of the gods and the burning of the planet. It’s our responsibility that those who, from Gaza to Beslan, hang bombs like garlands above their children, who threaten them with death if they cry, who reduce them to drinking their own secretions , will fail in their attempts to accomplish their apocalypse.”

God says: “I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land Yahweh swore he would give to your fathers – Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – and to their descendants after them.” … “When Yahweh your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy.”… “Do not leave alive anything that breaths. Completely destroy them – as Yahweh your God has commanded you. Otherwise they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against Yahweh your God.” (Deuteronomy 1:8; 7:2; 20:17-18)

The Jerusalem Connection says: Most treaties and ceasefires between warring nations and factions are drawn up by politicians – whose major means of achieving their goals is through compromise. Religious people have absolute principles that guide their decisions. Compromise is foreign to their decision making process. Jihadists have absolute principles that guide every aspect of their lives. At the top of their absolute priorities list is the absolute annihilation of Israel. Any ceasefire, for Jihadists is simply a temporary halt to their absolute priority of annihilation of Israel. There is no deterrent much less compromise or persuasion that will alter their absolutes. That is why the Jihadists with their sick, barbaric, satanic religion must be destroyed. Forget the politicians attempt at compromise. It will never happen. The ultimate answer is in God’s hands. If you would like a preview as to how God will deal with the Jihadist, I suggest you read Revelation 20. It’s not pretty, but it is necessary and it will happen, and you can take that to the bank.

Why most Palestinians really support Hamas

As the Gaza war rages, international media has made a point of reporting that most Palestinians in Gaza continue to support Hamas, despite the fact that the terror group and its allies sparked the current conflict.

The picture painted by most media is that Palestinians may not be 100 percent happy with Hamas rule, but Israel’s purportedly indiscriminate bombing of Gaza continues to drive most Arabs into the terror group’s arms.

Last year a Palestinian Arab Christian created a YouTube video that clearly shows the real reason most Palestinians in Gaza support Hamas: Fear. Fear and indoctrination.

Those Palestinians old enough to think for themselves are too afraid to not support Hamas. And those too young to take their own stand are quickly taught that there is no way but the Hamas way.

Post-ceasefire violence continued Friday with a violent clash along the Gaza security fence. According to AFP, Gaza residents say one local man was killed by IDF fire and several others were wounded.

There was no immediate confirmation from the IDF. Spokespeople confirmed there had been “disturbances” and that soldiers had fired warning shots, but could not confirm casualties.

Gaza sources claimed that the dead and wounded were “a group of farmers.” The dead man was identified as Abdelhadi Qdeih Anwar, 21, AFP reported.

There have been 20 rocket attacks since the ceasefire went into effect on Wednesday evening.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned Wednesday that he expects a “small tail” of violence, meaning that there will be some further attacks before terrorist groups fully stop their assault.

Following the Cast Lead counter-terror operation of late 2008 and early 2009, the “small tail” of post-ceasefire violence grew into a war of attrition with more than 1,000 missiles, rockets and mortar shells fired at southern Israel in the years that followed.

  39. @Zoe

It does not matter HAMAS’ hard line position, the group represents a significant voice alone with the PA. An Olive branch has to be proffered some way some how if there is to be lasting peace in the ME.

  40. One would have to be really “challenged”, not to understand how a people kept in a concentration camp in the 21st century, would not take whatever steps available to hit out at their tormentors.

Perhaps Zoe is White and unable to internalize such a condition, and GP perhaps have been over and away to long to recall the conditions under which our grandparents lived and the temptations towards rebellion.

It was only because of their ignorance (of what was going on in the world) and their lack of offensive capabilities that they did not react exactly as the Palestinians…..

These Gaza residents have access to TV and radios (when they are not being bombed) and to weapons from sympathizes….. and they appear to have lots of balls…. 1 plus 1 is still 10.

Just talking nonsense about the “unfairness” of launching rockets at Israel …..(where is Duguid when Bushie need him nuh?!?!….) is childish. 🙂

  41. @David

“It does not matter HAMAS’ hard line position, the group represents a significant voice alone with the PA. An Olive branch has to be proffered some way some how if there is to be lasting peace in the ME.”

Man, you just plain dumb, like most of the Elite leaders of the world, Obama, Clinton et al included, who either, in BLATANT DENIAL of the FACTS, yes, FACTS, Biblically, empirically CONFIRMED by warranted historic facts, EVIDENCE, tones of which I’ve posted here on BU over the last few years, and ‘The Olive BRANCH’ has been offered by Israel, time and again, i.e., UN Resolution 242, granting these Islamo/Fascists, the majority, over 90% of their demands for LAND, REJECTED by Arafat, who then launched the second Intifada on Israel.

Then, again in 2005, uprooted over 10,000 families from the ENTIRE Gaza strip, for the sake of making peace, only to RECEIVE from then until a few days ago, over 8,000 rockets and mortar fie from HAMAS, and you David, ta;k about ‘An Olive branch has to be proffered….” Man, you OUT OF your MIND!

What kind of conversation are you talking about on BU David?

    • Some are dumb for expressing an opinion about the conflict in the ME which has confounded the most intelligent through the ages? Carry on smartly Zoe.

  42. Further David et al, there is NO SUCH HOPE for any LASTING, so-called Peace in the Middle East. It is WAY too late for that, can’t you David, see, hear, and FEEL in your heart, mind, soul, every day in world news, that its panning out, exactly as God’s Word, the Bible says it would.

For God sake, man, wake up and smell the coffee, its brewing FAST, towards the BOILING OVER point, in world affairs, there IS NO TURING BACK, time is very short, and we AIN’T SEE nothing yet, talk about economic HELL, the worst is yet to come, just around the corner. And this is NOT being negative, this IS the REALITY of what’s coming down.

REPENT, and be Saved in Jesus Name, or suffer the eternal consequences in Hell!

  43. A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed..

‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else—the small stuff.

‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn.

Take care of the golf balls first—the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

  44. hey folks it is time to recondition your mind the revisionist of bible history has fed us a bowl of lies and indoctrinated our souls to their mindset wake up for once in a lifetime does a person of of your own race come to speak truth listen and learn a mind is aterrible thing to waste

  45. The problem with Zoe and GP seems to me that no one else can say anything they dont agree on and be seen as educated or important.
If you dont agree….you are branded as a mocker and a scoffer. By this same argument they are also mocking those that disagree but nooooo…they are the ‘educated’ ones on BU.
I have never seen so called Christians with so huge an ego as those on BU. Dictionary was the worst and he departed because he couldnt stand the fact that people have differing views.
Just because you may have a different opinion doesnt mean you are mocking or scoffing.
Just because Christians go through life by faith while others would rather see conclusive evidence, doesn’t make them scoffers….it shows that some people do think and ask questions as opposed to blindly following like sheep.
GP seems to think that unless you are at his level of education that you can’t have anything to contribute on BU, that everything else is nonsense. I have learnt a lot on BU as it pertains to this journey we call life. Every comment has its own merits.
If the content on BU is so poor, why read it or even comment….just move on the the highly educated blogs like Kairosfocus..where the 3 of you can have great intellectual convos until the rapture.

  46. @David

“Some are dumb for expressing an opinion about the conflict in the ME which has confounded the most intelligent through the ages? Carry on smartly Zoe.”

Yes David, everyone has an OPINION* and Opinions are like Anus’s everyone has ONE, and most people’s opinions are just like what comes out of an Anus, HOT-AIR, and excreta! Including “…the most intelligent through the ages?” Why is this so?

Because, opinions, and those coming from “…the most intelligent through the ages…” mean NOTHING, HOT-AIR, when they utterly dismiss, FACTS, evidence, and warranted TRUTH, in their opinionated CONFOUNDED, intellectual ignorance and arrogance.

You see David, “In today’s romance with Islamism, as in the twentieth century romances with communism and fascism, the believer must conceal his own malicious agenda from others – and from himself. Beliervers achieve the needed camouflage with a pattern of behaviour that we have seen before and can accurately label:

  47. Zoe DEFINATELY needs some help.

    @ David,
Perhaps you can track Zoe down through his IP, or perhaps if he can email you his location, ….and we can arrange for some counseling…..? …after all he IS BU family…..

Bushie thinks that he has reached the tablet stage….. 🙁

  48. Informed rational freedom loving people have all the reasons in the world to fear islam. The twin fogs of political correctness & ignorance must be dispersed before western society better understands this menace. Even a brief review of islamic theology & history quickly exposes the deadly roots of this evil ideology.

Mohamhead was a 7th century murdering warlord who rose to power on a river of blood surrounded by thugs and gangsters using intimidation, violence, deception and trickery to expand their criminal empire while mercilessly suppressing and killing their opponents and enriching themselves on stolen booty.

The evil koran is a collection of sayings and speeches by this diabolical madman claiming divine guidance from some mythical sky-god which has inspired generations of crazed fanatics to abhorrent behavior resulting in historys worst ever crimes against humanity starting 1400 years ago and still continuing even today.

Islam is just another fascist totalitarian ideology used by power hungry fanatics on yet another quest for worldwide domination and includes all the usual human rights abuses & suppression of freedoms.

and some snappy infographics, great for emailing…
