Binyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel
Binyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel

A United Nation inquiry has made the claim that Israel engaged in:

…a deliberately disproportionate attack designed to punish, humiliate and terrorise a civilian population in Gaza.

It further asserted that some individuals should face:

individual criminal responsibility and both Hamas and the Israeli committed war crimes and possible crimes against humanity

Although the inquiry subjected Hamas to censure it was not as severe as that on Israel. The conflict Dec 2008 – Jan 2009 – debated on BU ( Barbados Underground)  – was as a result of tunnels built by Hamas to circumvent the Israeli blockade being bombed by Israel.  Hamas intensified their belligerence and fired rockets into Southern Israel in retaliation, causing panic in the civilian population.  In the resultant war when the Israeli Military crossed into Gaza, in excess of 1,300 Palestinians were killed including 320 children, official figures gave the Israeli death toll as 20.

Due to the high number of Palestinians who lost their lives and the disproportionate force used by Israel with consequent civilian damage in Gaza, pressure was put on the UN to conduct an inquiry. The UN chose the  experienced and respected South African Judge Richard Goldstein, he came with a background  suited to the task.  “He was the Chief Prosecutor for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunals for the Yugoslavia and Rwanda from 15 August 1994 to September 1996. He was a member of the International Panel of the Commission of Enquiry into the Activities of Nazism in Argentina ( CEANA ) established in 1997 to identify Nazi war criminals who had emigrated to Argentina.”

The UN inquiry has called for an independent investigation, if this is not done the matter should be referred to the International Criminal Court.

Israel has been robust in their defence of the military action taken in Gaza.  Saying their accusers are against Israel, this is not surprising as the allegations against Israel are serious indeed: the inquiry noted  “Grave breaches” of the fourth Geneva Convention and of a war crime for using Palestinians as human shields.”

It is difficult to understand the reasoning behind Israel’s claim that the accusers are against Israel.  Richard Goldstein – chairman of the UN inquiry – is Jewish and a very experienced Judge, with close ties to Israel.

Mark Regev the Israeli government spokesman has said:…”the Israeli Government is conducting its own investigation into the conflict”.  However, Judge Goldstein responded that ” the Israeli investigations are being conducted behind closed doors and as such are not to an “acceptable standard”.

Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu condemned the report as a “kangaroo court”, a charge which does not carry much credence because the Israeli Government refused to participate in the UN investigations…thus having no  input.

Judge Richard Goldstein’s daughter with less hyperbolic language is reported to have said:

“My father is a Zionist who loves Israel.”

“I know better than anyone else that he thought however hard it was to accept it, he was doing the best thing for everyone, including Israel,…”He is honest, tells things how he sees them and wants to uncover the truth.”

  2. @HOPI
    “Well Mr. holier than thou,…”

    Thanks for the lovely compliment…

Our mothers exact a high price for the 9 months we spend seeking board and shelter in their wombs but what is a real tragedy is that each successive generation which ought to be better – somehow fails in raising the bar any higher than their predecessors…

  3. @Terrence Blackett………….Every successive generation fail to raise the bar any higher than their predecessors because their predecessors continue to be indoctrinated in the institutions [school & church]of the GREATEST LIAR visited upon this planet, and then pass on that same indoctrination to his offspring and then tell them that, that is “TRUTH.” And the shit goes on and on and………..

My brother, that is the Real & GREATEST TRAGEDY!

  4. @HOPI

    That is YOUR opinion!!!

You are FREE* to hold it all you want…

    Does it change the ABSOLUTES???

    I didn’t think so….

Maybe guys like you have some unseen power you can wield to change the order of things…

  5. It would be impossible for each generation not to be better progressively. That would be a defiance of the basic laws of nature. What I would say is that most people speak of the deterioration of morals and discipline… but what you should consider is that people are defying the status quo as it continues to lag behind progress and that what is happening is that more and more people are coming to the realisation in a very practical way, that we are living a lie.

  6. BU FAMILY*

All the folks who are quick to grab their truncheons and bash what is claimed to be “ABSOLUTE TRUTH”* – how is it that you lovely folks do not and cannot present a “rival truth” that we could subscribe to?

My dad came to Britain in the mid 1950’s as a Christian and so did my uncle – Dr. A.W. Blackett who studied Greek & Latin Classics at Oxford University for his PhD (something Branford Taitt can validate because he’s family too) – but look at another sad irony with ALL* the knowledge these guys had, they forgot their Creator and worshiped the created thing…

But I was there to see the latter years of both of their lives – because they were both instrumental in my academic and social development but I recognized just how empty they were with all the accolades, prestige, money and everything they achieved – it was all meaningless!!!

To see my Dad die in the hospital in Reading made me cognizant of the fact that I cannot live withOUT* CHRIST* and I certainly cannot die without HIM*…

    THAT IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!!!

  7. @TMB
“All the folks who are quick to grab their truncheons and bash what is claimed to be “ABSOLUTE TRUTH”* – how is it that you lovely folks do not and cannot present a “rival truth” that we could subscribe to?”

Would you please examine your statement above? How can you “claim” that something is the “absolute truth”? It is either absolute or it is not.

A Rival Truth? The truth is the truth. I do not need a rival truth if what you are spouting can be determined as untruth? Without the rival truth yours is still not the truth.

Skipper, continue to preface everything that you say with “I Believe” and you cannot go wrong. If you don’t, someday the real truth will catch up with you. Understand that you dealing with a belief and to that extent you need no proof. You accept the faith, do not go overboard and call it truth.

Understand the status of what you have in christianity. When you got into it, somebody should have told you that this thing is a matter of faith… that is the principle reason they tell you not to argue about it. Nothing to be argued about once you know where you stand… but don’t go imposing it by lying and say it is any absolute or even common truth. It is not and anytime you say that it makes you a deceitful liar because you only say that to get people to believe what you believe. That is a marketing tactic.

You “cannot” be sure about any of it. The most you can say is that you accept it and sing and go along your merry way. You surely can’t win an academic argument over it as these guys GP and Zoe try to do.

  8. @ROK
“You surely can’t win an academic argument…”

I am not trying to win anything…

My experience is my own as is yours – which is free and open to scrutiny, belief or disbelief depending on where you stand…

Faith is not an academic exercise as some would have us believe…

I am not even willing to debate its virtues or lack thereof….

The reasons are crystal clear …

I state “my case” and let the chips fall where they may…

God alone is the ULTIMATE Arbiter…

  9. @Terence M. Blackett: “All the folks who are quick to grab their truncheons and bash what is claimed to be “ABSOLUTE TRUTH”* – how is it that you lovely folks do not and cannot present a “rival truth” that we could subscribe to?

Terence, you are new here… So I will forgive you for your ignorance.

But, for the record, I personally have been arguing a very important axiom for quite some time here on BU…

In the short form, it is simply this:

    1. There *is* no such thing as Truth; there is no such thing as the provable. Except in a very few narrow domains of mathematics.

    2. Thus, *everyone* makes a leap of faith with whatever they believe.

    3. Thus, *anyone* who presumes that *anyone* else is wrong is either being presumptuous, is being disingenuous, or is ignorant. (Or all three.)

    4. Similarly, *anyone* who assumes that only they can be right is either being presumptuous, is being disingenuous, or is ignorant. (Or all three.)

@Terence: “THAT IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!!!

I’m happy for you. I’m sure it meant a lot to you. I’m sure you took a lot away from it.

But your personal experience doesn’t mean a thing to me; no matter how loudly you yell it…

I also have my *own* personal experiences…

And, somehow, the resultant conclusions I have come to are somewhat different from yours…

For some reason, my interpretations of “reality” don’t align with yours. Or, for that matter, with the dogmatic interpretation of many who are unwilling to accept that *perhaps* they might be wrong.

(And, if I may please point out, I would take much more seriously arguments and positions from those who acknowledge that they have considered the *possibility* that *PERHAPS* they are *WRONG*.)

  10. @TMB
“I am not trying to win anything…”

Don’t let me have to cut and paste you, Zoe and GP. The evidence that you are trying to win something is glaring by the beliefs you are spouting as truth. It is therefore as deceptive as your statement above. That is the level christians stoop to just to “win” souls.

  11. TMB ”it was all meaningless!!!”

No. They achieved what they had to. Certainly, monetary worth is, apart from being a means to survival, meaningless.

However, each soul must choose its path, must learn and grow while here, in preparation for the continuing ‘life’ after this, this ‘locale in dimensions’.

Our souls will move on, to learn and develop more, for that is the meaning of life, that is the natural course of things, to evolve.

Our souls are no different, that they evolve.

Strangely, very strangely, nothing is in vain, even more strangely, some of the silly little things that humans do, in their little worlds.

Why? Because with every move, every nuance of life, something or someone learns and hopefully accepts.

  12. @Terrence B………….I would not dare venture into the ABSOLUTE Truth as that belongs with the Creator but mere mortals like you and I are dealing with the RELATIVE Truth. And its that Relative truth that has screwed too many of us.

  13. The ancient ones cometh.

  14. @CH
    “Terence, you are new here”…

Hey Chris, how long have you been on planet?

  15. @ROK
It is no wonder that you and GP cannot get along. You two are so similar in outlook that it IS funny.
Both well read, opinionated and both equally unwilling to explore other ideas besides those currently implanted in your heads .

…the only difference that I can discern is that whereas GP is down the line bible based, you seem to be hung up on anything that seems ‘anti’ bible.

However, there is an absolute TRUTH.

That ‘truth’ is represented by the actual, cold, facts surrounding the existence of our world.

-I may not know that TRUTH
    -You may not know it
    -Terence may not
    -CH definitely does not ….LOL
-(I cannot speak for MME…I feel he know draft…)

….but somewhere out there- the real, hard, true facts must exist….

Now your ongoing theme has been that Christianity does NOT represent that ‘truth’. OK – fine position to take….I actually agree with you…

If you know that to be the case, then you should be one step closer to identifying THE real truth…
…but you also seem to be scared of following that line.
Why not let us pursue the matter in an analytical manner…?

I can tell you because Bush Tea knows it….
Bottom line, Terence is right about there being an ABSOLUTE TRUTH…. maybe, unlike GP, you will be willing to open your mind and explore to find out what that TRUTH really is…..

    ….or maybe not!

  16. @CH
“my interpretations of “reality” don’t align with yours. Or, for that matter, with the dogmatic interpretation of many who are unwilling to accept that *perhaps* they might be wrong….”

Hey CHRIS*- does this statement also apply to you and others as well?

  17. @ROK
“That is the level Christians stoop to just to “win” souls….”

ROK, my dear BRUV* – trust me (implicitly) when I tell u that I am NOT* trying to win or save anybody – you see that is NOT* my job….

    I’m the postman – I deliver the mail… I don’t write the bills, neither do I CREATE* the correspondence…

    The SPIRIT* draws men accordingly!!!

  18. @TMB: “Hey CHRIS*- does this statement also apply to you and others as well?

    Absolutely.

I’m *always* willing to accept the possibility that I *might* be wrong.

But, importantly, it is a two way street, amongst many who always seem to be only able to drive in one direction….

  19. @Elouan

There is some resonance in your thoughts but we could split hairs over the semantics and at 02:15am is probably not the time for a debate on philosophical issues pertaining to life, death and the afterlife….

  20. @HOPI

You may be screwed but I certainly don’t entertain the notion….

  21. @CH

Then CHRIS* we agree to disagree another day….

And as always – time is the great leveler…

  22. @Terence: “There is some resonance in your thoughts but we could split hairs over the semantics and at 02:15am is probably not the time for a debate on philosophical issues pertaining to life, death and the afterlife….

    So, Terence…

Have you just admitting from your immediate above that you are not here in Barbados? Because by my clock, it is 2120 (read 9:20pm) Barbados time.

What says you to my immediate above?

  23. IGNORANCE, ARROGANCE, absolute INCOHERENCE, utter NONSENSE, continues to be presented with moronic regularity, and alarming alacrity by the ’emissary’ of SATAN, the ‘father’ and cesspit, from which ALL LIES emanate, against ABSOLUTE ‘TRUTH’ God’s Word, by two of his most deceived followers, ROK & HOPI!

@ Halsall, You are still in your Egotistical, self-oriented arrogance, a classic trait of those who ‘resonate’ with Buddhism!

  24. @BUSH TEA

Bush Tea boy, you does scare me….LOL

Your reasoning though filled with superfluity and uncanny verbose at times is often a stark reminder that none of us have a handle on “TRUTH” except HE who is ABSOLUTE TRUTH and GOODNESS…

    Thanks for that reality check….

I needed that at almost 2:30 in the morning….

  25. @Terence: “Then CHRIS* we agree to disagree another day….

Please show me where *I* agreed to disagree with you?

@Terence: “And as always – time is the great leveler…

Typical deflective bullshit language, from those who have found themselves unable to argue their position cohesively nor coherently…

To quote Monty Python: “Run away! Run Away!”.

Following line: “Perhaps we’ll come back to fight another day….”

  26. @CHRIS HALSALL

Unfortunately, I have NOT* been in the paradise that is my country Barbados for quite sometime… But that change shortly as I need to visit my beloved MOTHER* who is retired and living it up in the glorious sunshine…

  27. @CH

There is something to be said of the virtues of BS….

But then again, you and I can agree to disagree or vica versa…

  28. @Zoe… If I May, let me please reflect…

    1. Any Buddhist would accept that anyone of any faith might be correct.

    2. Would anyone of your faith accept the possibility that any Buddhist (or anyone not of your faith) might be correct?

No need for an answer… It is an open statement; and a rhetorical question…

(Serious thought and consideration by all readers would be appreciated, however….)

  29. @BUSH TEA
Bush Tea boy, why are you always seeking to cast me in some mold of your chosing………. why you want me to open your mind and explore what you think TRUTH really is….. I have been trying for some time NOT to conform to this world and be TRANSFORMED to God’s way according to the teaching of the Word as advocated in Romans 12:1-3 & James chapter 4

I don’t really need your guidance
I don’t try to transform a soul or get them to fit my mould on this blog. As Terrence says “I’m the postman – I deliver the mail… I don’t write the bills, neither do I CREATE* the correspondence…The SPIRIT* draws men accordingly!!!”

I teach the Word as I understand it, and I am considered to be good at doing so, except here on BU. But it is said a prophet is not without honour etc LOL .

It is very hard not to agree with Zoe’s opinion of September 27, 2009 at 9:25 PM
And that of Terence M. Blackett at September 27, 2009 at 9:25 PM

  30. @TB…………Entertaining the notion is not a prerequisite for being screwed. As long as you adhere to and espouse the BS you are screwed!

  31. @BT

“Absolute” truth? The only thing absolute about Creation is Creation itself. What may be true here may not be true over there. What is true in one society may not be true in another.

Once, men drank poison and survived to prove themselves. We would call that madness, but what poison are we drinking today?

As for being wrong, that is as natural as life itself. I based my opinion on the discernible facts and do not claim any absolute truths. It is not a question of being anti-bible, it is a question of setting the record straight as regards the facts.

The fact is that christianity is about belief and to that end, there can be nothing true about it far less absolute.

  32. CALLING BONNY PEPPA

    you are missing in action
    not seeing enough of you
    you have slowed down
    maybe you have aged

  33. @TB: “Unfortunately, I have NOT* been in the paradise that is my country Barbados for quite sometime…

Please forgive me for this question, but why then are you suddenly so interested in Barbados?

Why are you suddenly producing so much language here on Barbados Underground?

Might a possible answer be that you (and perhaps others) have an agenda?

  34. @CH

Why is anybody interested in anything at any time Chris?

Thank God for a productive life which embodies a lot more than just the terse informality of sometimes meaningless verbosity…

Agenda is a fashionable word Chris but unlike my predecessors I have a pretty good life as it stands and ambitions of taking on a future role in Barbados is not currently on my radar screen – however, if called upon to SERVE*, we understand that the servant is never greater than His Master….

What I hope for is the preservation of an idyllic lifestyle that my mother and the others who enjoy the creature comforts of what I and many still consider a paradise…

  35. true christians don’t argue
    they praise their opponent
    and reach a compromise

  36. @CH, said/asked:

    1. “Any Buddhist would accept that anyone of any faith might be correct.”

Naturally, this is to expected, as there are no absolutes in Buddhism, or the Zen variety of Buddhism; as its true nature, is, in reality, that of ‘Ego-absorption’ to the extent that one becomes obsessed with HIMSELF, Halsall is a classic example of this, without a doubt! The ‘Zen’ form of Buddhism, IS the most ‘SELF-CENTERED, selfish system of philosophy that the depraved soul of man can embrace!

    Lightening is here! More later!

  37. Now back to CH, and is question:

    2. “Would anyone of your faith accept the possibility that any Buddhist (or anyone not of your faith) might be correct.”

The answer is an emphatic no! And this is not arrogance, why not?

Because, assessing ‘World-views’ bears out the utterly fundamental groundimg of ‘Logic’ for thinking about truth and world views, these logical laws point us toward truth.

    1) The Law of Identity
    2) The Law of Non-Contradiction
    3) The Law of Excluded Middle

Reason is necessary for Revelation to be Coherent.

    The Historic Judeo/Christian Worldview.

This world view essentially contain claims about ‘reality’ which are either True or False!

Therefore, any ‘world-view’ MUST be subjected to, and must sustain (3) test in order to be considered valid.

    1) Logical Consistency
    2) Empirical Adequacy
    3) Experiential Relevancy

The only religious World View, that meet and sustain all three of these, is Historic, Orthodox Christianity.

Secondly, and intricately connected to the above ‘criteria’ for validity, every system must also demonstrate and deal with the following questions:

    1) Origin
    2) Meaning
    3) Morality
    4) Destiny

Again, the theistic Christian World View, is the ONLY one that convincingly, and ‘COHERENTLY’ demonstrate and sustain to the above questions, unparalleled with any other religious world view.

It is easy to just ‘deny’ this FACT, as anyone can write the Rubbish that Rok does, even a ten year old child, without any Coherent refutation whatsoever, all HOT AIR, no substance AT ALL!

The Historic evidence confirming the Christian world view IS overwhelming; some of which have already being presented here on other threads months ago. NO ONE, was able to counter IT with any credible, valid, coherent alternative. Only the tyical ‘Hogwash’ spewed forth by the likes of Rok and Hopi, plaster this forum with utter nonsense!

  38. That is your only defense? To say that what I write is hogwash? What type of an answer is that except what what the word itself describes?

Certainly it is empty because you can bring no irrefutable or contentious evidence to the table. Any evidence you bring will be filled with holes like a sieve and you know why?

Forget the insertion into historical documents because they were discovered.
Forget the records of Pontius Pilate because he never mentioned a word and he was the judge.
Forget the records of Ancient Egypt.
Forget the records of the Roman Government.
    Forget the shawl
Forget the Ark of the Covenant
Forget the remnants of Noah’s ark

What exactly do you have to substantiate the stories of the bible? I will tell you where you can find the stories told in live and living colour, but the characters are not the same, the names have been changed to attract the innocent.

  39. Sorry, the names have been changed to “detract” the innocent.

  40. @ Zoe

I am here Frances Havergal’s hymn to William Henry Mink’s tune Beverley

We used to sing when I was a choir boy at Ch Ch Parish Ch, but back then I didnt appreciate the lyrics, because they didnt teach the Scriptures. They only used to talk superficial junk about the “Epistle” and “Gospel” for a particular Sunday.

You need to know the Word to appreciate these thoughts!

Thou art coming, O my Savior,
Thou art coming, O my King,
    In Thy beauty all resplendent,
    In Thy glory all transcendent;
Well may we rejoice and sing:
    Coming! in the opening east
    Herald brightness slowly swells;
    Coming! O my glorious Priest,
Hear we not Thy golden bells?

    Thou art coming, Thou art coming;
We shall meet Thee on Thy way,
We shall see Thee, we shall know Thee,
We shall bless Thee, we shall show Thee
All our hearts could ever say:
What an anthem that will be,
Ringing out our love to Thee,
    Pouring out our rapture sweet
At Thine own all glorious feet.

Thou art coming; at Thy table
    We are witnesses for this;
    While remembering hearts Thou meetest
    In communion clearest, sweetest,
    Earnest of our coming bliss,
    Showing not Thy death alone,
    And Thy love exceeding great;
But Thy coming and Thy throne,
All for which we long and wait.

Thou art coming, we are waiting
With a hope that cannot fail,
Asking not the day or hour,
Resting on Thy Word of power,
    Anchored safe within the veil.
    Time appointed may be long,
    But the vision must be sure;
    Certainty shall make us strong,
    Joyful patience can endure.

O the joy to see Thee reigning,
    Thee, my own belovèd Lord!
    Every tongue Thy Name confessing,
    Worship, honor, glory, blessing
    Brought to Thee with glad accord;
Thee, my Master and my Friend,
    Vindicated and enthroned;
    Unto earth’s remotest end
    Glorified, adored, and owned!

  41. I like the words “Resting on Thy Word of power, Anchored safe within the veil. It reminds me of Heb. 6:19–20. Which reads Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec .

Besides teaching that Christ is our perennial and perpetual Intercessor (corroborated in I John 2:2) it teaches the following about the Lord Jesus Christ.
    He is
    1 our HOPE
2- our ANCHOR OF THE SOUL which is both sure and stedfast
    3- our FORERUNNER
    4- our INTERCESSORY HIGH PRIEST

These verses provide an illustration of our security. When Jesus
Christ entered heaven at His ascension, He took our hope of future reward
    with Him.

Here The author (Paul) is affirming that hope forms an anchor for the whole of life. The person with a living hope has a steadying anchor in all he does. In Titus 2:13 Paul calls Christ the BLESSED HOPE

In the first century, sailors would carry their ship’s anchor in a small boat and deposit it on the shore so the ship would not drift away as waves beat against it (cf. Acts 27:29-30). Likewise the hope that Jesus Christ has planted firmly in heaven should serve as an anchor for our storm-tossed souls. It should keep us from drifting away from God (cf. 2:1). Our anchor rests firmly in the holy of holies, in God’s presence in heaven. Hope is the anchor rope or cable of our faith.

“As an anchor of the soul.” We have an even stronger encouragement than Abraham had in his time, because our High Priest has entered in advance into the presence of God for us, and He is there today interceding for us.

Jesus Christ is the “forerunner,” who has entered within the veil, which implies that others are to follow as taught in I Corinthians 15:20 and following thus :-

But now is Christ risen from the dead, [and] become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Then [cometh] the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

When Christ ascended back to heaven, He assumed the office of High Priest.Christ as High Priest entered into the temple in heaven (after which the earthly tabernacle was patterned, Hebrews 8:5). He passed through the veil into the Holy of Holies, into the presence of God, and presented His blood there. Then He “sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

One difference between Aaron and the Lord Jesus is that poor old Aaron never did sit down. There were no seats in the tabernacle—there was the mercy seat, but that typified God’s throne. Aaron only hurried in and hurried out. But you and I have a superior High Priest. He has gone in. He has sat down. He has a finished redemption.

What wonderful pictures these are for us today! That’s why we can sing

    Though the angry surges roll
    On my tempest driven soul,
I am peaceful, for I know,
Wildly though the winds may blow,
I’ve an anchor safe and sure,
    That can evermore endure.

    Mighty tides about me sweep,
    Perils lurk within the deep,
    Angry clouds o’ershade the sky,
    And the tempest rises high;
Still I stand the tempest’s shock,
For my anchor grips the rock.

I can feel the anchor fast
As I meet each sudden blast,
    And the cable, though unseen,
    Bears the heavy strain between;
Through the storm I safely ride,
Till the turning of the tide.

    Troubles almost ’whelm the soul;
    Griefs like billows o’er me roll;
    Tempters seek to lure astray;
Storms obscure the light of day:
But in Christ I can be bold,
I’ve an anchor that shall hold.

    Refrain
And it holds, my anchor holds:
Blow your wildest, then, O gale,
    On my bark so small and frail;
By His grace I shall not fail,
For my anchor holds, my anchor holds.

    We can also sing

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love.

It is safely moored, ’twill the storm withstand,
    For ’tis well secured by the Savior’s hand;
And the cables, passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy that blast, thro’ strength divine.

It will surely hold in the Straits of Fear—
    When the breakers have told that the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o’erflow.

It will firmly hold in the Floods of Death—-
When the waters cold chill our latest breath,
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the Veil.

When our eyes behold through the gath’ring night
The city of gold, our harbor bright,
We shall anchor fast by the heav’nly shore,
With the storms all past forevermore

    And so we ask today
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

  42. Rok & Zoe seem to be kibitzing back and forth on something they both agree on.

    religion is about belief
    zoe believes
    rok doesn’t believe

maybe they should bet married as they make a perfect couple

  43. @GP
    “We have an anchor”….

My dearly departed beloved grandmother’s favorite hymn…

    AMEN!!!

  44. @Zoe: “…there are no absolutes in Buddhism…

Exactly! And this is precisely why I resonate with Buddhism — Science has shown us that there are no absolutes *ANYWHERE*. Buddhism is, IMHO, the religion most compatible with the Sciences.

@Zoe: “The Historic evidence confirming the Christian world view IS overwhelming; some of which have already being presented here on other threads months ago. NO ONE, was able to counter IT with any credible, valid, coherent alternative.

I respectfully disagree. In fact, I could go further to argue that you and yours are the ones who come across as close minded, dogmatic and incoherent.

I respect your right to your own belief system. And I will even concede that you *might* be correct (because I can’t prove that you are wrong). (Although I *believe* that while the probability of you being correct is *very*, *VERY* small (read: incredibly close to zero), it is not actually zero.)

But please have some respect, and don’t tell me and others that only your believe system could possibly be the correct one. Because you can’t actually prove you are correct, no matter how much ancient language you cut-and-paste….

  45. @Georgie Porgie: “We have an anchor…

But GP… Might you consider that there might be more than one anchor?

Perhaps other anchors just as strong (or, perhaps, even stronger) than yours?

  46. @kiki

I believe that you are an innocent here. You see, I do believe… but am I right?

    Keep the vibes pumping.

  48. I Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

    Jesus Christ is the ROCK,

    the CHIEF CORNER STONE,

    THE WAY TO THE FATHER,

THE ONLY NAME GIVEN UNDER HEAVEN WHEREBY WE MUST BE SAVED

    The LADDER

The Only Mediator bwtween God & Man

    The Ransom

    The Saviour
    to name just a few

There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin
He ONLY could unlock the door
Of Heaven and let us in!
