  1. What nonsense!

Even if all these things were correct, what gives Trump the right to kill suspected drug traffickers unless they present violence at the point of interdiction?

And if this reckless act becomes legal precedent, can it also be extended to a suspected vehicle traffic violator?

Can it be extend to Marco Rubio who spent his teenage years in the house of a family member who went on to spend a considerable period of time in a Florida prison as a big drug dealer, should Rubio be bombed toooooo?

If you noticed I never said whether Trump was right or not. My focus was on the vessels that were attacked, which some argued were humble fisherman trying to catch a fish. My point is those boats by no stretch were fishing boats. That was the extent of my statement.

  3. @ John A,
Mia boasted of her desire to see Barbados become the Monaco of the Caribbean. What gave her the confidence to have made such a statement. As a legal professional operating in Barbados she would have been aware that the world was awashed with individuals looking to dispose of their cash. You hear me?

The foundation of Barbados’s current built environment is the product of dirty money. You may recall that we had three Bajans (2 mighty whites) a couple of years back whom had a problem with a boat and a stash of drugs on board. In today’s climate their boat would been blown to smithereens! Justice served or justice denied?

The problem with criminal activity that remains unchecked and is allowed to grow, is how do you step in to address it when it becomes a large part of your grey economy? Do we for instance know what sector of our small economies in the region, have reached the stage where drugs and firearm trafficking now forms a sizeable percentage of these economies.

So we have marijuana growers in St Vincent and Jamaica for example, who generate earnings that feed sectors in both these territories. Leaders there know what is growing is illegal, at the same time though the sales from the product feed people and supports a thriving grey economy. As a leader there you find yourself in a bit of a crossroads so what do you do? With Trump now position hardware all around the region, will he start focusing next on shipments going into Miami and the Southern USA, which came up the chain via the Bahamas islands by sea for example?

The real worry in the region is what do we do if we reach the stage where we depend on the money generated from illegal activities to keep our economies going. Will this then develop a class of untouchables in the region? Don’t say that cant happen it the Caribbean, because history in larger countries have proven it can happen. Just take a look at Mexico and Columbia where Cartels for decades held serious clout and remained untouched.

Weeee have seen no such definitive evidence. Given the relative distances involved the equipment cited may very well be appropriate or normal.

Indeed, people who know about boating have well argued that those boats would have to be refueled around 10 or 12 times before getting anywhere near American territorial waters.

What’s more, fishermen in the immediate area have not been going to sea for the fear of being killed. This to our minds is vastly more probative. In international law this is the crime of collective punishment – a war crime.

More generally, we are dealing with a highly criminal regime in America. A regime which has always been, internally and externally, a murderous one. For it was Obama who openly started killing American citizens abroad and Trump himself who killed an Iranian military general who was on a peace mission. This is of recent, but their history is replete.

Donald Drumpf is a liar. Has always been a liar. And nobody should be seeking to find any justification for the killings or genocides of Drumpf and the American empire.

  7. @ Pacha

Yes I can see from the video you sent where the legitimate fishermen would now be concerned. In their favour though is the fact that their boats would not be travelling at that kind of speed, so for Trump to mistake a fishing boat for a drug runner, would truly be a weak ass excuse for sure !

War of words erupts in Trinidad

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – A war of words has broken out between Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the main opposition People’s National Movement (PNM) after she accused the country’s oldest political party of having links to local drug dealers.

Persad Bissessar in a statement welcoming the arrival of the United States warship USS Gravely from October 26-30, said that it will also be engaged in military training with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF).

“This visit augurs well for our nation. It represents a continued partnership in strengthening our national security, enhancing operational readiness, and improving protective capabilities.

“For far too long, our open and poorly secured borders have facilitated the trafficking of humans, drugs, and firearms. Tens of thousands of illegal migrants have entered our country, and over 10 000 citizens have been brutally murdered in the last two decades,” Persad-Bissessar said.

But she said that unfortunately, the PNM “and their agents are persistent in creating unnecessary hysteria and conspiracy theories in a desperate attempt to create instability and chaos.

“It is most concerning that the PNM, a party long suspected of being financed by the local drug mafia, is overtly attempting to undermine efforts to stop drug, arms and human trafficking into our country.

“Most disheartening is that the historically PNM-controlled constituencies are the ones most affected by drugs and bloody gang violence, fuelled by the actions of the drug cartels. Yet, the PNM and their agents choose to put the interests of their drug mafia financiers in front of their own constituents.”

Persad-Bissessar said that the PNM’s main concern is “the protection of the illegal profits of their drug mafia financiers”.

“They have no care for the pain and suffering of their own constituents, far less all other citizens who have borne the terror of murder and grotesque violence for years.

“Clearly, the PNMs’ daily disinformation campaign is aimed at derailing the ongoing drug and arms interdiction efforts so as to protect their drug mafia financiers,” she added.

But in an immediate response, the PNM, which lost the April 28 general elections after being in power for nearly ten years, said it “categorically rejects outright the Prime Minister’s entirely baseless, viciously reckless and highly defamatory statement issued today, which is a desperate attempt to distract from her government’s failures and the growing public backlash against her leadership”.(CMC)

  9. Bissessar is a genuine idiot!

She reminds us of the Battle of Balaclava and the march of the light brigade.

It was during the first Crimean War where 600 British soldiers……

And yes, from as far back as the Tsarist period the Anglo Saxons of Britain long wanted to take Russian territories, as is their continued intent today.

Indeed, before and after, and up to this day, the Europeans including the likes of Hitler, Napoleon and others continued their efforts to colonialize Russia.

But those 600 soldiers, badly led, made a charged and were duly slaughtered by the Russians as they sought an unlikely conquest.

Of course, the light brigade’s charge into the valley of death has been generally ‘mis-remembered’ in history and poetry to lionize the would-be conquerers. The story is always the same, for until lions have their historians, hunters will control history, memory.

In this march of the light brigade! Bissessar and her country should be made to pay the cheque written with her stupid mouth.

  10. There appears to be no code of etiquette in how wars are waged today. Let’s hope that little Trinidad does not get wiped out by a vengeful Venezuela should it provide sanctuary to the Yanks.

  11. The arrogant yanks have started their bombing campaign in Venezuela. Let’s hope that the little pawn, Trinidad, does not got flatten by an angry Maduro.

  12. It’s being reported that Maduro and his wife have been captured and flown out of Venezuela.

  13. Just for good measure, Hugo Chavez mausoleum was bombed and destroyed.

It is what it is, let us observe if Kamala will ride her capitalist donkey.

  15. “US aviation authority closes off Caribbean air space
The US Federal Aviation Administration has told commercial airlines to stay out of Caribbean airspace due to “potentially hazardous situation” amid US attacks in Venezuela and operations to “capture” President Maduro.

The notice cited “safety-of-flight risks associated with ongoing military activity”.”
