Deutsche Bank became the latest large company to cut ties with Donald Trump, with the firm that has propped up the Trump Organization for two decades reportedly announcing it would no longer do business with the disgraced president.
The German bank’s move – reported by the New York Times – follows Wednesday’s deadly attack on the US Capitol building by a mob of Trump supporters. The number of corporations disassociating themselves from Trump is now turning into an avalanche.
Deutsche Bank has been Trump’s most important lender. The Trump Organization, fronted by his two older sons, owes the bank about $340m in outstanding loans. After a series of bankruptcies in the 1990s, it was the only bank willing to give Trump money.
The relationship has survived various scandals. In 2008, Trump sued the bank’s real estate division after he defaulted on a $40m repayment, used to fund the construction of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago. He accused Deutsche of co-causing the financial crisis and demanded $3bn in compensation.
Instead of dumping him as a client, Deutsche’s private wealth division stepped in and loaned him more money to pay off the existing debt….Another of Trump’s key lenders, Signature Bank, said it was closing his two personal accounts, which held a combined $5.3m in deposits. The New York bank has previously financed Trump’s Florida golf course. Ivanka Trump sat on its board.
The bank called on Trump to quit. “We witnessed the President of the United States encouraging the rioters and refraining from calling in the National Guard to protect the Congress in its performance of duty,” it said in a statement.
“At this point in time, to ensure the peaceful transition of power, we believe the appropriate action would be the resignation of the President of the United States, which is in the best interests of our nation and the American people”

I meant to comment on the video congratulating Rev. Warnock on his election to the US Senate but better late than never. The election of Warnock was a break- through but I would caution people not to get too carried away. Warnock must face the electorate in 2022 because he is serving out the term of Senator Johnny Isakson who was reelected in 2016 but retired at the end of 2019 and who would have been up for election in 2022 as the normal Senatorial term is six years. The election of Jan.5- was a result of special circumstances as in regular elections only one Senatorial seat from a state is on the election calendar. Ossoff will serve the full six year term and would not have to run again until 2026
Georgia has a Republican Governor, and the state legislature is republican majority, I would not be surprised if the legislature amended election laws to suppress minority voters, even the Georgia Sec. of State who defied Trump said something to the effect that the regulations re absentee ballots should be changed

Four COVID-19 clusters are being investigated by public health officials in Barbados on the West Coast, South Coast, at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds and the Boxing Day Bus Crawl.
Speaking during Tuesday’s COVID-19 management update, Minister of Health Jeffrey Bostic said the process of contact tracing was continuing as they sought to bring this outbreak under control.
At the time of speaking, the West Coast cluster had 86 positive cases and two people are associated with 25 positive results. One bar had 27, the Paradise Beach Lime had 18, two restaurants accounted for 11 and five respectively, there were seven from a catamaran cruise, six and five cases, respectively from two hotels and there are 33 positive cases from other businesses.
Bostic said three cases from a church in the north were also linked to this cluster.
There are four positive cases from the South Coast cluster.
At Dodds, there are 228 cases. These comprise 58 staff (37 males and 31 females) and 170 male inmates. There are also three pending positives among staff and 64 among the inmates.
Bostic said the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 974 tests on Monday. These resulted in 84 positive results, 75 males and nine females. Of that 84, 67 are from Dodds while the other 17 comprise locals and visitors.
The index cases are still being identified and Bostic cautioned that contact tracing wasn’t being done solely to identify where the outbreak started, but to prevent further spread
