If we don’t want to comply with the rules the EU put in place to access their own markets, we need to avoid that market and stay home or find another market. When you go to a finance company for a loan, you must abide by their terms, go elsewhere or do without the loan.

International business is practiced in many jurisdictions, the point being made is that the playing field should be level in theory and former colonies should not be discriminated against. International business is only one area we depend to drive the economy, you can argue we need to be less so but it is a niche we have carved out and good luck with the lobby. But in Barbados we seem to believe that we have an automatic right to attract foreign investors, no matter how confusing and slow our red tape, no matter how incompetent our administrative class, no matter how disgraceful and corrupt our court system.
Barbados should be the financial centre of CARICOM. That we are not is not the fault of the EU or OECD. Stop blaming others for our own shortcomings.
If anyone in Barbados wants to see the annual reports of any company in the UK all they have to do is go on the Companies House website. And if the company is weeks late in filing reports, it WILL BE, not may be, fined. Compare that with BARBADOS.
If someone dies in the UK, on average their probate records will be filed and made available to the general public within weeks. How about Barbados?
I can go on and on. These are just administrative matters. To set up a new company in Barbados should not take more than five days – one working week.
