The FBI is investigating the death of George Floyd, black man who was pinned on the neck by a police officer and later died in custody. Minnesota’s Attorney General Keith Ellison joins The Beat with Ari Melber’s breaking coverage on the latest from the FBI and the protests. While the officers involved have yet to be charged, Ellison argues a “quick arrest” might “make people feel better about justice” it is “important” for investigators to “take the time to make sure that these charges, if they are brought forward, stick.

    I came across this link almost two weeks ago, had a laugh and figured nothing like this could happen.

    It is a spoof of what happens when people are caught violating the rules about wearing a mask.

    It could have been inspired by what happened to the lady in New York arrested and thrown to the ground for not wearing her mask correctly.

    Everything about the video of the death of George Floyd is wrong.

    The cop is not behaving normally, nor are the other officers present.

    Even the passersby don’t seem to want to engage and are keeping their distance.

    The absence of a mask on George Floyd could explain the extreme behavior of the police.

    It would be interesting to see what happened before he ended up on the ground with a cop on top of him.

    Trump using the military to push back peaceful protesters to pose in front of a BOARDED UP church with BIBLE in his hand is so grossly obscene it doesn’t event compute with most people. Some of his supporters ADDED to the Church must be sobering up to the recognition that Trump is a “mad man”. This Showing force is reminiscent of the Nazi Party showing force. Hitler came into power with overly nationalistic rhetoric that MOST Germans bought into but many balked when he brought the “German Reich” into war with a racist ideology…the similarities are chilling.
    Also if even a president used the military internally in the past, it was for isolated incidents and USUALLY at the request of governors.     The Episcopal Bishop said that everything POTUS did at the church was antithetical to the word of God… EVERYTHING.

    Yes, this ‘is a very dangerous and highly inflammatory message” and moment.

    Thus the next few weeks (days really) will be the beginning of the rest of our lives (a stupid cliche, of course) but if this Republican party does NOT get his ‘dumb’ impulses under control then life as we know it today will be uppened by his overreach ‘to win an election”…

    There is a lot of gnashing of teeth on this particular blog. Until blacks get involved in the sciences in a big way and invent things and cease selling out each other for a mess of porridge, none of the other races will take them seriously. The Chinese and Indians do not have a high regard for them either. Any one on this Blog who thinks that Schumer, Pelosi and others care two hoots about blacks are living in a world of make be belief.     I am breaking my word listed in my last post.

    i am curious: Did the Americans question the presence of troops on the streets in the 1960’s and twice in the 1990’s( the last time circa 1998, when Bill Clinton did so)? I seem to remember a couple of years ago the British had a similar problem and were thinking of declaring a state of emergency. Prior to that the French add a similar happening( In those days i was an avid listener to the BBC). The comments by the presenters on the BBC were that it could not happen in the UK that the UK was different and treated its minorities better than the French. Then it happened in the UK. As I have stated blacks are at the bottom of the totem pole. One of the reasons that I have not migrated is that I have a very quick temper just like my dad ( it has tempered with time). I nearly got shot in the USA in 1974( December, seven days before I was getting married). I was on a three- week Phelps-Stokes Foundation Fellowship. There were other West Indians including Lionel Hutchinson, the late clerk of the House of Assembly ( Barbados). We were in Louisiana ( New Orleans ,Bourbon Street). I went into a second -hand book store to browse and buy some westerns and detective novels. Lionel remained outside wearing a bomber jacket( he was in RAF in WW 2) and smoking a pipe. I was interrupted by this cop who entered and told me to come outside. The proprietor wanted to know what the hell the cops was doing that i was buying books. I went outside to find Lionel straddling the side of the building with his legs spread and arms over his head bracing the wall. I was told to get in a similar position which I did. I was patted down and then my temper exploded. I wanted to know what the hell they were doing and that where I came from this shit did not happened ; that I was buying books and I was going back inside which is exactly what I did. I turned my back and went back inside. I wasn’t afraid. It is that i just do not take shit from people. Lionel told me afterwards that I was lucky one of the cops recognized that we had a different accent and restrained the other one from drawing his pistol. It turned out that some one had phoned in to report that two blacks where wandering around the place, which was true( we did not know the place and rambled a lot). The more educated officer told Lionel that we should walk at all times with our passport. I do so whenever I am in the northern countries. I also learnt that it is wise for one to keep one’s accent: not to be a Johnny-come lately and assume a new accent.

    There is a principle in western democracy that armies do not become in domestic civil disturbances. Armies face out, the police face in. What you get in Britain is the militarisation of the police.
    Remember there are a lot of para-military police forces, such as the gendarme. We must start in Barbados by banning so-called joint patrolling and eventually getting rid of the BDF.
    A few years ago we had a big laugh when the commissioner of the Metropolitan police brought a tank up at Heathrow on the claim that ‘intelligence’ had warned them of a possible terrorist attack. You got to be careful of the politics of policing.
    The new thing in Britain is that young black boys wearing facial masks are not doing so because of CoVid, but to hide their identities when drug dealing. Seriously.
    This warped and stupid thinking is part of official policy. The other one is that gangs are using young girls because they are unlikely to be stopped and searched. Think about it: young girls on their way to school or visiting friends and they are pulled over by police and searched. This will soon emerge in Barbados and will be justified by our so-called criminologists.

    Convinced that their way of life, based on slavery, was irretrievably threatened by the election of Pres. Abraham Lincoln (November 1860), the seven states of the Deep South (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas) seceded from the Union during the following months. When the war began with the firing on Fort Sumter (April 12, 1861), they were joined by four states of the upper South (Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia).

    everyone who has ever lived in the US and were CONSCIENCE which really and truly are not that many, knew that…they are known as ultra conservative in any of the two political parties and are mostly the descendents of slave masters….and many, many of their descendents hold very powerful positions in every sphere of real political power today, they know what real power is and continue to try to maintain permanently.
