Your message to the BLOGMASTER was sent

Barbadians were promised in recent days that 10 new garbage trucks – urgently needed – would have been mobilized in time for the Holidays. Although there has been no official announcement by the Mia Mottley government as to why a faulty configuration of the 10 trucks have prevented deployment, information in the public space indicates that the cab of the truck accommodates only two persons and the standing bar on the outside,  one instead of two. It should be noted this government in its infinite wisdom has recruited a PR/Communications team that is second to none if compared to previous governments. There is no reason information should not be readily available regarding matters affecting state apparatus.

The blogmaster is sympathetic to the fact there will be breakdowns in procedure from time to time, although it should never happen in a well functioning system. Garbage collection continues to be a hot button issue and the government leading into the last general election was not bashful about reminding the electorate the former government had not purchased a single garbage truck during its 10 year tenure.

The embarrassing fiasco currently playing out that the $400,000 dollar garbage truck x 10 will have to be retrofitted – no doubt at taxpayers expense – is cause for concern. Given the size of the procurement order, coupled with the importance of the transaction to maintaining a clean environment, a simple thought at the time of signing off on the purchase order should have suggested that those responsible ensure the garbage trucks  ‘fit for purpose’.

All that is left for the blogmaster to opine is that any self respecting administration should immediately request the resignation of the minister responsible (Trevor Prescod) and chairman of the Sanitation Service Authority (Rudy Grant) with immediate effect. We have to start to hold our officials accountable. Given historical behaviour the firing and or resignation of ministers appear to be removed from the remit of the Prime Minister.

The blogmaster is keenly aware the political polarization that exist means that every mistake will be amplified for political gain. This blogmaster is more concerned to ask – how was this sizeable mistake allowed to happen given the modus operandi of this government in period of enhanced financial surveillance ans austerity.

Thg more things change the more they remain the same.

  1. @Donna: “If American is heaven

    Where was that ever claimed?
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Donna is a conflicted jackass, plain and simple and the USA seems to be a bee in the pea head bonnet.

  2. Again for those of you old fogeys seeking to bash the USA.

Why not call these 2 Bajan youngsters and say don’t leave the island as it is the smarter thing to do?

I congratulate both teenagers for achieving locally and heading out to create a much better life for themselves in the future USA bound.

    Harewood, Hoyte off to US

Rosette Hoyte and Yuriko Harewood are both on their way to making their mark in the United States, having secured athletic scholarships to Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Missouri.

Still in shock, Hoyte told Sunsport she would miss her family and friends but was pleased that her hard work had paid off.

“I have mixed feelings knowing that I am leaving on Sunday because I am going to miss my family and friends. It costs me a lot of hard work and commitment for sure.

“At times I felt like giving up but I couldn’t because I had to keep my eyes on the goal. I had to keep in mind that I was working towards something I really wanted,” said the 19-year-old who formerly attended Springer Memorial before transferring to Christ Church Foundation.

  4. Let’s see if the two garbage truck scammers get fired for their Mexican scam…and am not speaking about Dale Whistleblower’s port scammers. Let’s see if the uppity house negros who can only frighten Bajans go after the Mexicans.lol…ah would pay to see that one..

    https://www.nationnews.com/nationnews/news/243289/marshall-urges-bajans-speak

and speaking about scammers, is this not the same Dale Whistleblower who got with Mia and dragged out the COP to lie about some imaginary one pot on Natalie Critcholw’s stove, hide her death statement video and AND FRIGHTENED THE WITNESSES AWAY…have these uppity lowlifes no shame..

  5. @ Baje

You are right about more opportunities outside the four walls of Barbados. In fact, I would not advise any young person who got the opportunity to let people in Barbados entice them back only to publicly humiliate them. It is a Bajan spectacular sport. Just read some of the anonymous monsters on BU.

  6. The liars, FRAUDS and THIEVES are being watched, if you do not continue to watch and expose them….there will be over 100,000 Bajans living in poverty soon and not just 40,000 with the amount of YOUR MONEY these criminals will continue to steal and hide in their bank accounts and OFFSHORE…with their dirty criminal minority riffraff partners in crime..

    “Irvine Maloney is feeling sad.
    8 hrs
If this administration had a development plan for this country,it would not be in the state that its in. No plans for education, healthcare,or the general welfare of our people.

They came into office with the same nasty attitude as before. Hoping to rob and plagerise the economy. Only to find that their interest was at the bottom of The barrel, only because some of us who saw the need to keep an eye on them.

With the hope that they could blame it on the last administration, they proceeded with out any regards for the people who gave their votes. Flaunting their arrogance at will, even up to this day they continue to pervade over this country like an overcast day.

This latest episode in malpractice, and miss appropriation of government founds needs to be investigated by the relevant authorities.

Where is the auditor general? What is his take on the matter? Where is the leader of the opposition, and head of the public account committee? Where are the permanent secretaries?
Is there any one in this country who can stop this bleeding?

These are troubling times. Is there any one that can say ENOUTH IS ENOUTH!!.”

  7. The saga of the garbage trucks continues
Reports today says that govt have placed gag orders on those related to knowing any thing about the trucks
Also no one knows when the trucks would be retrofitted
The gathers are expected in a couple days
The possibility of more increased garbage lining the streets are real
In the meanwhile the South coast sewage plant which recently offload more sewage in worthing sea also would see an increase in affluent which officials fear might comprise the plant capacity in handling excess volume
All in all a high expectancy of gathers to help barbados local business to improve might be met by more problems akin to the garbage problem
.As one well known lawyer once stated to the jury in the defence of his client
Garbage in garbage out and this is exactly what barbadians are witnessing in the form of present govt
A bunch of illiterate bumblers with no clue of managing barbados affairs
    Question to be asked
How can a govt make similar mistakes in less than a year with negative consequences that can affect the entire country
Meanwhile we have a salt bread judge sitting on the bench rendering judgement about a saltbread
    Wuhloss a real belly laugh
Of the Moe’s all set out to destroy what is left of a place called barbados

  8. Baje
Agree with your comments for the ole foggies
Living in a barbados of the past give them a sense of belonging nothing more nothing less
When i look around barbados and see the decaying state of barbados social and economic environment my first thought says there is nothing to be drawn from here
Any one with an opportunity to leave should not walk but run and fast seeking higher ground and greener pasture
Nostalgia is only good for those moments in time
    Nostalgia cannot pay the bills
Most who visit come with a nostalgic feeling of wishing and hoping and the joy of experiencing a barbados that once was but sooner rather than later they urgency of returning to countries were the ground is more secure and fertile returns and. any thoughts of living in barbados becomes distant

  9. Yo..BU sleuths, have u heard about this SLIMY SECRET.. how many millions will they SKIM and TIEF and YOU the Bajan taxper will have to pay it back for generations. Generations of your still UNBORN children will have to repay that theft and they will ROB YOU..chronic thieves cannot help themselves.

“Are you aware of the two hundred million US Dollars to Barbados for the Airport Runway Renovation. What? 200.000.000? Yes, absolutely. It has been kept secret.”

  10. The little political opposition needs to be pulling people on the streets and using other forms of civil protests to send a message the pile up of garbage is unacceptable. Even if there was a foul up with the garbage trucks procurement, what about the contingency plan chairman Rudy Grant mentioned weeks ago? He talked about engaging private haulers, deploying skips to densely populated communities etc. When Mia was leader of the Opposition she was quick to mobilize public sentiment as any good opposition should, a word to the opposition parties – what little there is – should be sufficient.

Time for the talk to Rh finish!

  11. –> When i look around barbados and see the decaying state of barbados social and economic environment my first thought says there is nothing to be drawn from here
Any one with an opportunity to leave should not walk but run and fast seeking higher ground and greener pasture <–

We can only hope that your second thought is; those responsible for said decay, will never be forgiven and should not be considered even competent to wipe their own arse.

  13. Are there trucks?
    Saw photos of white trucks
Read they would not be painted.
now seeing photos of red trucks
    Can someone explain?

  15. Mottley ability to pull people on the street had plenty political firing power which include Unions
Also of helped was Mottley persistent use of lies generated by the same policies which she has used presently
The increase of taxes and job losses and stimulated by her words a poverty stricken barbados and a sleeping PM who doesnt care
Fast forward to 18mths later where are the Unions
Where are the business voices who used threats of any form to oppose past govt
The third parties voices would not be heard because we also have a media who have found a way or have been told by present govt not to entertain opposing voices
Getting people mobolized to oppose govt would not be easy as govt now has set a new agenda and found a way of controlling the people minds
Hence we have a gathering instead of a protest

  16. Apologies for littering.

  17. Why is the chairman of the SSA still in his job?

  18. Red purple blue or green
400Hundred thousand dollars per truck and useless metal which cannot helped to clean barbados but we gathering
    Go figure

  19. Who in parliament signed off on the agreement of buying the trucks
    Where is the account committee?

  20. Mariposa,

Since when do you agree with Baje? Since the DLP lost power?

PS. Aren’t you an older fogey than I am???? If not, ya sure look so!

    Hal,

Not everybody has the same experience.

    Baje,

For somebody who’s living the “good life” you sure don’t appear very happy.

PS. Why call yourself “Baje” and then encourage all other competent Bajes to abandon Barbados????

I am not at all conflicted. I maintain that Barbados has serious problems. I also maintain that so does the place where you live. Discontent is a worldwide phenomenon. I maintain that we can and should work to improve Barbados. I maintain that I am quite happy to remain here and do just that. I maintain that I know many competent people who get opportunities without kissing ass and make good use of them. I maintain that many of them are in fact living the “good life”. I maintain that I did not discourage my best friend’s daughter from accepting her athletics scholarship to the USA but I would not discourage her from returning if she believes she can contribute to the improvement of the country that offered her the opportunity to display her athletic talent.

I maintain that there is a cause greater than myself. I maintain that I shall not abandon Barbados.

And if that makes me a pea brain then so be it. I love peas.

  21. coming down for a holiday,…. please make no attempt to clean up the garbage…I find it hard enough to find my way around as it is.
…..As mariposa has suggested a larger pipe that can carry sewage and garbage should be installed off Worthing if people are concerned about a need for garbage trucks . .Really what is the sense of having trucks if people do not throw the trash in a bin better let it run down the street like the sewage then off to st lucia down the mariposa tunnel with the next rains

    Lawd have merci
Here we go again talking about Mariposa look
I can bet u have never seen me
Any how jealousy is not one of my better features
Seem like it is a make up of all of yours
Have a bless day living in the land of social and economic decay of which you are proud

  23. Let me begin by wishing every Barbadian a great day…

Good can come from this bumbling, as it might provide a Damascene moment to some politicians and lead them towards helping the country.

You may be frustrated by some of us returning to the topic over and over again. Think of this as treating a boil. We are
Lancing the cancerous boil that is part of our politics
Washing the boil until all the pus is gone.
Applying our medicated ointment to the sick area.
We will continue to wash the infected area several times a day until the cancerous corrupt wound heals.

The medicine may be tough, needs to be applied repeatedly.

    Have a great day, Barbados

  24. Lawson…wuh happen, ya boyfriend Justin is not keeping ya happy in Canada, ya have to run to Barbados for the smell of garbage.

  25. “Good can come from this bumbling, as it might provide a Damascene moment to some politicians and lead them towards helping the country.”

what Damascene moment, these crooks are looking for a BILLION DOLLARS TO TIEF…and move offshore skim by skim, scam by scam, they can see NOTHING ELSE…keep waiting for that Damascene moment…wuh if they have not seen one in over 50 years, ya really think they will see it now…ha!!!

  26. @WURA
If I accept your last message, then I would have to accept the “failed state” of HA.

Thing are bad but “Tis time to keep hope alive”.

  27. Greed is a very powerful motivator Theo….especially if you are OWNED by some very DANGEROUS people…i say STOP THEM FROM REMOVING THAT BILLION DOLLARS from Barbados and REDUCING tens of thousand more Black Bajans to abject poverty……and let their DANGEROUS OWNERS have these uppity negros….that is where they belong…

  28. “Are you aware of the two hundred million US Dollars to Barbados for the Airport Runway Renovation. What? 200.000.000? Yes, absolutely. It has been kept secret.”

When I read of the money coming from the IMF and that we are glad to receive, it always appear that the IMF amounts stated are always smaller than our next big business venture.

IMF: 4-year arrangement of US $ 290 M in several drawdown

Then there is the IDB which will provide about US $ 175M over several years…

How on one hand we seem to be overjoyed to be receiving a US $48 M here and there (or now and then) and on the other hand we spending hundred of Millions…

Can someone weave these stories into one so that a small guy like me can understand?? I can figure out scams, not this spending thing …

  29. Could you link this up with possible devaluation….

  30. IMF SDR drawdowns once targets are met intended to bolster reserves which has the affect of defending the peg AND devaluation. This in theory should positively impact investor confidence. Once IMF targets are met concessionary financing from IDB, World Bank etc to support infrastructure development is unlocked.

  31. Theo…exactly…are you getting the picture now, ya will hear about the kinda, sorta tiny 48 million dollar draw downs from IMF, IDB, CDB etc, but ya will NEVER HEAR about the 200 million project loans or the 100 million dollar grants FOR EDUCATION..which the black population never know about and certainly get no access to…etc…that money is earmarked FOR THEFT and OFFSHORE.

  32. With all monies being drawn do
The elephant in the room asked how are these loans going to be repaid and at what and whose expense

  33. The PM, the Minister and the Chairman of the Sanitation Authority have all been quoted about the imminent arrival and deployment of the “new” garbage trucks. We heard the garbage trucks had landed, we heard that they were going into service by Dec.30, is it April 1st already?

Some of us realise the “many hands make light work “ is just a fiction but the PM has squandered her 30-0 mandate. Instead of leaving some of the excess bodies on the back bench so she can replace an ineffective Minister she appointed the largest cabinet in Barbados history, probably the largest in any country as a percentage of elected representatives. In an Oprahesque moment where the audience were gifted cars she awarded Ministries “you get a Ministry, you get a Ministry, you get a Ministry etc.”

    Any way
    we’ll gather at the river,
    The beautiful, the beautiful river,
Gather with the faithful at the river,
That flows by the largesse of Moi

  34. How long has Barbados been a land of social and economic decay? Since your party lost power? Have you no shame?????

Why am I even asking? The answer is clear. You don’t!

PS. How much ya willing to bet that I haven’t seen you?

  35. Remember the Sam Lord’s Castle project with the Chinese, yardfowls jumped out and cussed me when i said the Chinese were not pleased and money was missing UNDER DLP, not a peep from the government, not one explanation until ya hear they are looking for tenders to finish the project….i take it that was because the Chinese were so pleased with their investment that they pulled out..

that is how these two corrupt governments skim and scam and offshore all the money….so there is no benefit to the Black population.

  36. And let’s not forget the Cahill scam which is now the LAWSUIT SCAM where everyone EXCEPT the taxpayers and pensioners…WILL GET FAT..

  37. This site has obviously become a place for overseas Bajans to bash those who choose to live here, label us as old fogey losers with small island mentality and encourage all young persons who have options to leave those who do not to their fate.

I do not see how that is expressing opinions that make a positive difference. I do not see how that saves Barbados.

Obviously these “patriots” have lost sight of the objective.

I wonder why, instead of simply enjoying their wonderful lives they would choose to waste their precious time flogging a dead horse.

One would think such persons, since they are obviously not interested in saving Barbados, would have many more exciting things to do while living a life beyond our imagination!

PS. I am a keen student of human nature and as such I have various theories as to the issues that are causing this behaviour. A fascinating study.

  38. If your uncle gave you a job at his gas station and you embezzled his money, who else wouldn’t you steal from.

    Sent from my iPad

  39. That is how they make their millions…accumulated over time to BILLIONS, none of which is theirs… STARVE THE ECONOMY…….and be DAMNED to the population who elected them, but another election is right around the corner……they will come to BEG FOR VOTES….they are vote beggars.

  40. The challenge for Bajans living overseas, especially those who do not return often, their perspective is coloured by what is posted on social media. Then add agenda and ignorance and we have a problem. A drive along the south coast for example see locals and tourists alike going about their business enjoying what a tropical paradise has to offer. There are problems but the sky is not falling as some would want to paint a picture.

  41. Tell that to the over 40,000 Bajans living in poverty, the sky falls when you and your children are HUNGRY…with no end in sight.

  42. All fixable problems. The challenge is to get Bajans mobilized. Telling them there is no hope will do the opposite.

  43. There are hungry children in the”land of milk and honey:”. Many have just had their food stamps taken away. I bet there are hungry children in Canada.

There may be 40 000 people below the poverty line but there are not 40 000 hungry people. Poverty is relative. We must fight to alleviate the poverty without exaggerating its prevalence and extent.

I do not find exaggeration useful. It just damages credibility.

No, the sky is not falling. But there is a hole in the ozone layer that needs serious attention.

  44. Caswell,

Good to see you are well! As a “victim” of an attempted rape on the streets of Barbados and also a burglary and two attempted burglaries of my home, I can tell you that the edginess smooths out with time but you become more vigilant.

  45. No one is saying there is no hope, but hope and hungry does not sound like food to me, taking things out of context is also not useful…we are asking that the CURRENT THIEVES BE WATCHED…so they do not OUTDO the LAST THIEVES…as they are ALL KNOWN TO DO and have done for too many decades

……they have made a CAREER out of robbing the island and there is no reason that 40,000 people should now be LIVING IN POVERTY because of it……and in case some of you are not noticing…the island is FAR FROM OUT OF THE WOODSwith the BERT …so that 40,000 can now easily double to 80,000 reduced to poverty with another BILLION DOLLAR THEFT.

    think…use ya damn heads.

if ya have a better suggestion ah would like to hear it because the bible will not help.

  46. Some here are of the view Barbados must be the New Utopia. There are problems but like you said many are of our making and therefore ours to solve. Stoking a blame culture by blasting lies and half truths is as bad as those committing the wrongs. We need a few genuine people to stand up.

  47. My better suggestion – just tell the plain truth!

  48. I think some of you just like to complain and complain and complain without RESOLUTION, but everything comes to an end my friend.

  49. Write a letter to Mia and tell her to tell the truth, she is the one USURPING taxpayers money…publish the letter in the press.

  50. I am asking YOU to tell the plain truth – no adornments. That’s the way we fight Mia and Co. and their deceptions. The only acceptable way to fight lies is with the truth.
