Yardbroom gves OSA too much credit; from what I’ve been told that decision was made on the fly (pun not intended) was Mia even consulted? On second thoughts Yardbroom may be right as in “keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer”.

I have a feeling Sargeant that Mia has never thought of Owen Arthur as her enemy. Just to get that straight. One always has to look and emulate strong although fearing an enemy. Mia is strong, never has to emulate anyone and has never feared a soul or life itself. And no’ I am not politically affiliated but anyone with a bit of common sense can see this and know this. She will deliver and deliver well. I certainly look forward to watching her in Parliament…one of the very few who tells it like it is, understands what a good speaker is all about, is clear and concise…and does not have to have her head stuck into a piece of paper reading every word…but stands bold and addresses. Oh! yes! she addresses.

@David…any idea when she will be delivering (day and time?) in Parliament? Definitely need to plan, stop everything, watch and listen attentively. I have the highest regard for this lady…as I do for so many who men (particularly the Old Boys Club…ooops! did I say that?) feel they can just pick up and throw out as they please…Mia is a brilliant force to be reckoned with.

Good for you! Memories don’t leave like people do, they always stay with you especially in your old age when other people and instruments abandon you-instead of the clock saying 3.30 it keeps saying 6.30. (LOL!!).

Anyway ,just a bit of clarification from a “senior” boy. You could never catch a ground dove in a fly stick or down fall. Only silly wood-doves! Sparrows, blackbirds and the same ground dove were smart enough to elude these traps despite the alluring look of the yellow corn or scratch grain tempting to an empty craw. Sparrows had the trick technique of jumping on the stick or baton (pronounced “bantam”) of the fly-stick releasing the trigger and disabling the noose mechanism.
But you forgot one other form of snare for catching “birds”. It was called a “brek-neck”-
a fly-stick without the sticks enclosing the scratch grain. The object here was to entice the birds to eat the corn without the obvious accoutrements or paraphernalia (sticks or basket) to alert the wary bird except the stupid and dumb wood-dove. A further technique of camouflage was required for the ‘brek-neck’.-complete cover of the noose mechanism with very fine dirt. A dove and even ground dove could be caught this way but certainly not that smart-ass blackbird or cocky sparrow.
Now that Module 1 of “Bird Catching in Bim” is over let us catch a real ‘bird”.
What OSA has done is not to be underrated. As I said before this move has qualified him for post graduate studies leading to a doctoral thesis at the University of Machiavelli.
Why would OSA want to consult beforehand with MIA? Would this be tactically ingenious? Yardbroom is right! I hold no brief for OSA when compared to MIA but you can’t take that checkmate move away from the man.
Consulting with MIA before hand is akin to setting a fly-stick and spreading scratch grain al around the outside of the sticks. The sparrow would be attracted to fly the stick leaving both the corn inside and outside the barn for every bird to eat at will without the fear of being snared and watched on by the sneering yellow breast.

OSA has set a ‘brek-neck’. It’s up to MIA to make a “blackbird” or “sparrow” claw move. Either turndown the OSA invitation and put the corn back in his “downfall” or jump on the stick and let her true colours fly!

It’s sickening how ineffective politics has become in Barbados. The political agenda is more about intrigues among politicians, speculation and power-brokering than politicians or the traditional media dealing an an indepth manner with issues. Mia Mottley is one person I always felt would change this sad state of affairs. She first addressed the Clico issue, taking a highly commendable non partisan stance. I pray God helps Mia Mottley through this storm because she has the tenacity and the intelligence to put us back on track. She is also forward looking. What we need is good sensible governance in Barbados and that includes the opposition which also sits in parliament. Today is truly a funny night. I fear that Barbados is on the way to becoming a banana republic.

To thine own self be true- Mottley must show if she is a woman of principle or be prepared to be laughed at again in secret by the BLP boys.It is no secret the utter dislike that Arthur has for Mottley.That is the common factor between he and George Payne..
Owen Arthur cares about himself first and Barbados and any body else after.He is not motivated by the national interest but in his own selfish motives
He would have asked Satan to do the estimates reply if he thought it would help him..

I used to wonder why men dont have much respect for women here in Barbados.

But when I view actions such as Owen”seethru” Arthur vilifying THE HON. MIA AMOR MOTTLEY at every turn and every opportunity that he got, then to hear that at the dog and pony show the crooked Barbados Labour Party had in Haggatt Hall last Sunday night, he was going to Condescend and allow MIA to reply to the Estimates and she GLEEFULLY accepted as if she had just won the lottery.

Now I am beginning to understand why men in Barbados treat women so poorly. It would appear that Bajan Women can be treated in the worst way by men and all the men have to do is to offer a little token and all is forgiven.

Is this the reason Bajan women say that he beats me because he LOVES ME? Seethru verbally beat Mia Amor Mottley BLACK AND BLUE across this country and now the two of them are “LOVEY-DOVEY”.

Bajan women have to learn to stand up and be counted!!!!
They must demand respect from men. Mia actions will set women in Barbados back another thirty years.

This is a win-win situation for Arthur. If Mia does well against Sinckler, then Arthur would be credited for recognising Mia’s ability, and burying the hatchet for the sake of a united BLP which wishes to save Barbados from the DLP regime in government. If Mia falters, Arthur can argue that this is why she shouldn’t be LOTO, and why he is needed still at the helm in these difficult economic times. Arthur is aware that HE could go up against Sinckler like last year,fail to impress, and have no one to blame. I hope Mia knows where her friends and enemies are,and who is who.

Mia is still on her feet at 3:57PM and is delivering well.

Interesting point she has made that the HEADS for Urban and Rural remain year over year but cuts to tourism and invest units/funds.

My security systems raised many alerts about doing that. Please forgive me… I was born paranoid.

But I believe the question still stands: why does not the Barbados.CBC make this available for free on a dedicated channel based on the fact that they’ve been given something like 300MHz of bandwidth to play with?

Or, perhaps put another way, why does someone have to pay an Internet provider to have access to what happens in our parliament?

What this means is most of the Barbados Population do not have easy and secure access to what is currently happening in our own Parliament.

We pay for it; why don’t we have access to it over the “radio waves”?

Your point is even more significant when one considers the “material” that gets ariplay, aritime and repeat broadcasting for nights on end. These estimates are critical given the stakes. I too was surprised at not a peep from CBC. Food for thought.

Meanwhile, the Barbados.CBC MCTV channel 108 are currently showing a “Home Shopping” show….

And, as of 1800 hours, the Government paid-for Barbados.CBC is showing “Days of our Lives” (an American produced soap opera)…

(One might reasonably question which of the two would be more interesting… 😎
