Not since the days of the Gladston Holder columns in the Barbados media have Barbadians been kept abreast of the occurrences which involve the Council for Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission or even the Bilderberg family influence on world politics. Barbadians, including the media appear to be very comfortable ferreting world news from CNN and the BBC.

BU like millions around the world have been enthralled by the new entrant to the White House. President Barack Obama is without question a departure from the old guard. Some say any perceive change should only be taken as token. Many of the appointments in the Obama government represent prominent individuals who have worked in Washington in the recent past and are regarded as part of the status quo. For example, there is the influential position of Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner, the former head of the Federal Reserve of New York. How can Geithner be responsible for changing Wall Street when he is a product of the system?

The video above is one hour and 53 minutes long and paints an intriguing picture of Obama and the shadow government which runs the US government. While BU is inclined to ask questions we are not sure we fully buy in to the positions expressed in the video.

    Anonymous, let us get back to Roman Catholicism; I was married in a Catholic church, age 22, to a nice Catholic lady, my three children were all raised Catholics, I was never a Catholic, almost became one, very nice people, Priest, Nuns, etc; BUT, O’ what deception, all presented in a veneer of Truth. I’ve studied Catholicism intensely for over twenty years, primarily from Catholic sources.

    The following is an edited version, of a [3] part series of concise articles I did a number of years ago for a Newspaper, on Roman Catholicism; quoting from Catholic sources, NOT Protestant!

    The Papacy: Is it biblical? (Part I)

    “However, the question is: The Papacy: Is it Biblical? Does this Religious/Political Hierarchical Institution, derive its structure, arise from, or orginate from true Apostolic Christianity as we see and find in God’s Word, the Bible?

    In answer to that question, I will allow Roman Catholicism to speak loudly for herself, that is, I will quote primarily from Catholic sources, all of which carry the official seal of approval from the Vatican, her Nihil Obstat, Imprimi Potest, Imprimatur.

    We must Not Add, nor Take Away from God’s Word. These serious warnings are found early in Deuteronomy 4:2. The second warning is found in the middle of Scripture, “Every word of God is pure: DO NOT ADD TO HIS WORD, (Scripture) lest He rebuke you, and you be found a LIAR.” (Prov. 30:5,6). The third and final warning is found in Revelation 22: 18,19. It is against the background of these solemn warnings from God’s Word, that I now present a few of the historic evodences to ahow the utterly false and spurious manner in which Roman Catholicism created and invented her unscriptural system of Popery. I am quoting from ‘Catholicism Against Itself, Volume I, by O.C. Lambert, who cites extensively from authorised ‘Catholic Encyclopaedia, 15 Volumes Special Edition under the auspices of Knights of Columbus, Catholic Committee, The Encyclopaedia Press Inc., New York, 1913).

    Dark Ages:

    Forgeries, Fabrications, Falsehoods, Fakes and Frauds! “Substituting of false documents with genuine ones was quite a trade in the Middle Ages. (Catholic Ency., VI, 136). On this period Lambert says: ‘The Middle Ages’ a favourite designation of the period of history from the fifth to the sixteenth century, comprising a thousand years, it is not used so much by Protestants, who prefer ‘Dark Ages’ instead. Catholic admit that it was an age of great ignorance, when criticism was neither in favour nor provided with means’ (Catholic Distionary, 105). Catholic Encyclopaedia speaks of “the distorted and legendary view the Middle Ages had in Ecclesiastical antiquity, CV, 779).”

    Apostolic Canons:

    On this supposed canons, Lambert writes:

    “with reference to one of the most monumental forgeries of that age, Apostolic canons, Catholic Dictionary says: “A tradition (accepted because unexamined) long prevailed that these canons were dictated by the Apostles to St. Clement of Rome, who committed them to writings. Accurate research has dispelled this notion.” (pp, 41,42).

    Forgeries began before “Middle Ages’:

    “Writers of the fourth century were prone to describe practices i.e, The Lenten Fast of Forty Days, as Apostolic Institutions, which certainly had NO claim to be so regarded.” ( Catholic Ency., III, 484). “One is forced to admit that gradual the corruption of Christianity began very early ( Cath Ency, XII, 414).

    The Bible the Only Book used by early Church:

    “There was no written liturgy in the first THREE CENTURIES..(Cath Dict, 523). “It would of course be a monstrous anachronism were we to ascribe a belief in Papal Infallibility to Ante-Nicene Fathers” ( Cath. Dict, 694).

    Apostolic Church Ordinances:

    This ‘Pseudo Apostolic collection’ was fabricated ‘In the third’ or at latest, in the early part of the fourth century” ( Cath Ency., I, 735). It is described as “The so-called Apostolic church Ordinances” (Cath. Ency., V. 339).

    Apostolic Constitutions:

    On this massive fraud, Lambert states: “These mass of forgeries contained in this document has always been used since its creation in the fifth century, and though it has been recognized and acknowledged to be simply a monstrous forgery for hundreds of years, it is no less popular and useful to Catholic writers in their efforts to validate Catholic innovations today. As an acknowledgement of its character, Catholic Dictionary says: “they profess to contain the words of the Apostles written down by St. Clement of Rome” (p.43). Again on te same pages Catholic Dictionary says: “Pearson assigns this work as it stands, to the middle of the fifty century.”

    “The Apostolic Constitutions consist of eight books purporting to have been written by St. Clement of Rome…The eight books contain liturgy and eighty-five ‘Apostolic Canons…It has been suggested that the same compiler of Apostolic Constitutions may be the same forger as the author of the six spurious letters of St. Ignatius” (Cath. Ency, I, 571).

    Dionysius the Areopagite:

    ‘It is admitted to be a forgery (Outline of Dogmatic Theology, II, 279). “It is plainly for tye purpose of deceiving” (Cath Ency., V. 13). It was intended to accentuate…immunity (Commentary of the Canon Law, Augustine, I, 26). It was intended “To create the impression that the author belonged to the times of the Apostles” (Cath. Ency., V 14). It was planned as a ducument “to secure the authority of the Roman Pontiff” (commentary of the Canon Law, Augustine, I, 25).

    The foregoing is just literally scratching the surface of the volumes confirming the utter fraudulent creation of the Papacy and its maze of unbiblical false doctrine. Roman Catholicism DID NOT come into existence until around A.D. 311-325.

    ‘After this victory at Rome (which occured October 17, 312), Constantine, in conjunction with his eastern colleague, Licinius, published in January,313, from Milan, an edict of religious toleration, which goes a step beyond the edict of the still anti-Christian Galerius in 311, and grants, in the spirit of religious eclecticism, full freedom to all existing forms of worship, with special reference to the Christians. The edict of 313 not only recognized Christianity within existings limits, but allowed every subject of the Roman Empire to choose whatever religion he preferred. The reign of Constantine the Great, marks the transition of the Christian religion from under the persecution of the secular government, to UNION with the same; the beginning of the State-Church system (Roman Catholicism) ( History of the Christian Church, by Dr. Philip Schaff, Vol. III, Nicene and Post-Nicene Christianity, A.D. 311-600, pp.290.

    Roman Catholicism: Neither Apostolic, Nor Scriptural! (Part II).

    “That Catholicism had to fraudulently fabricate documents to establish a totally unscriptural system, that bears absolutely NO resemblance to true biblical, Apostolic Christianity, is clear-cut and obvious from its very own Catholic Dictionary and Catholic Encyclopaedia volumes, confirming that Roman Catholicism gradually developed into the Sacerdotal (Priestcraft) Sacremental religion with no basis at all from the New Testament for such a system, plus the hard historic facts, that NO such system existed for at least the first 300 hundred years of the True Church of the Lord Jesus Christ; The Apostolic Church A.D. 30-199, The Pentecostal Church, and The Persecuted Church, A.D. 100-300, bear NO likeness, affinity, or semblance to Roman Cathilicism, which came into existence when Emperor Constantine issued the edict of toleration in 313, thus creating the ifficial State/Church, and gave ‘birth’ to historic Roman Catholicism.

    These are the historic FACTS, yet, the monstrous LIE that Catholicism has its origins in Apostolic Christianity, has been propagated for centuries, and sadly accepted by multitides who are unaware of the facts.

    Catholic Documents “Quasi-Historical”:

    Lambert writes: “Catholic Encyclopaedia proceeds to point out the sources of this hierarchy as “Quasi-Historical’ (VII, 326, 342, 342), under this classification list Polycarp, Eusebuis, Dionysius, Hegesippus, Tertullian, Irenaeus, Cyprian, Jerome, Isadore, Ambrose, Eutychius, Clement of Alexandria, and Origen. The hierarchy today does not hesitate to still cite these writings in order to persuade men to accept the precepts and commandments of men. It is a gigantic fraud supported by forgery.”

    No Hierarchy For Centuries After the Apostles:

    Let is hear once again from Roman Catholicism herself:

    “The divine institution of the threefold hierarchy CANNOT, of course be derived from our text; in fact, it CANNOT in any way be proved directly from the New Testament ; it is a Catholic DOGMA, by virtue of the dogmatic tradition, i.e., in a later period of ecclesiastical history, the general belief in the divine institution of the episcopate, presbyteriate, and diaconate can be verified and thence, be followed on through the later centuries. BUT, thev dogmatic truth, CANNOT be traced back to Christ Himself by analysis of truth from page 26, strict historical testimony” (Cath. Ency., VII, 334).

    Four Hundred Years Too Late:

    “At the end of the fourth century, the Roman Church was completely organised” ( Cath Ency., IX, 61). She does not claim to have had an archbishop until the end of the fouth century (Cath Ency, IV, 44), and it was several centuries later before she had Popes and Cardinals!

    Liber Pontificalis-Book of the Popes:

    According to Catholic Encyclopaedia, the author of this forgery “took over” the Liberian Catalogue, and also used Clementine Racognition (IX, 225), both of which are acknowledged FORGIES. This is simply a reworking of these earlier forgeries. It is one of the principle sources for the list of Popes, of which the Catholic church boasts. Catholic Encyclopaedia, contrary to the popular claim of Roman Catholicism, says: “But thye chronology of these bishops of Rome cannot be determined with and degree of exactitude by the help of authorities today.” (VII, 593).

    False Decretals of Isadore:

    Of far greater influence was another forgery or series of forgeries, the False Decretals of Isadore, published about A.D. 850. These professed to be decisions given out by early bishops of Rome from the Apostles, such as the absolute supremacy of the Pope of Rome over the universal church; the independance of the church from the state; the inviolability from any accountability to the state. These forgeries are THE MOST NOTORIOUS LITERARY FRAUD ever committed in history, and the FRAUDULENT basis on which the Papacy established itself, as these LIES sought to antedate the rise of the Papacy by centuries. On this set of forgeries, Lambert states:

    “This elaborate code, now called the False Decretals of Isadore, was simply a re-working of all the forgeries that had gone befoe in order to bring them up to date. It was the most elaborate and oretentious code that had come into being up to this time,” Catholic Dictionary states:

    “Six centuries passed before it was discovered that the Pseudo-Isadorian or False Decretals, as they are now called, were to a great extent a forgery.” (105).

    On these same False Decretals, prominent Church Historian, Philip Schaff, writes:

    “During the chaotic confusion under the Carolingians, in the middle of the ninth century, a mysterioys book made its appearance, which gave legal expression to the popular opinion of thye Papacy, raised and strengthened its power more than any other agency, and forms to a large extent the basis of the canon law of the church of Rome. This is a clooection of ecclesiastical laws under the false name of bishop Isidor of Seville (died 636) hence called the ‘Pseudo-Isadorian or False Decretals’. In these earlier collections, the letters and decrees (Epistotloe Decretals) of the Popes from the time of Siricuis (384) occupy a prominent place..The realiest decretals had moral rather than legislative force. BUT, as the questions and appeals to the Pope multplied, the Papal answers grew in authority. Fictitious docements, canons, and decrestals were nothing new, BUT, the Pseudo-Isadorian collection IN THE MOST Colossal and efective FRAUD known in the history of Ecclesiastical literature.” (History of the Christian Church, Vol IV, Mediaeval Cjristianity, A.D. 590-1073, pp. 267, 268.)

    The forgoing, is just a glimmer of the utter corruption, and fraudulent creation of documents by Roman Catholicism, expressily for the purpose of making it appear that she had her roots, in and from the Apostolic and Post-Apostolic periods, a monstrous LIE, fed to multiplied millions over the centuries, both her deceived adherents, as well as the secular world.

    Roman Catholicism IS NOT synonomous with Apostolic Christianity, and has brought utter disgrace to the cause of Christ and His True Church, which has always been separate and distinct from the ‘Whore of Revelation’ seated on the Seven hills of Rome, the Headquarters of the Vatican, no wonder Almighty God, in the face of Jesus Christ gave the last surviving Apostle, John, while exiled on the Isle of Patmos, the final revelation that closed the Canon of New Testament Scripture, the stinging words, describing Roman Catholicism, a proleptic vision, on the ‘Mother of Harlots, the Great Whore, seated on many waters, (peoples and countries) none other than Roman Catholicism, for no other Religious/Political Institution fits in detail such as this, evil, wicked, tyrannical false church, as does the Popes, and all of its history, resolutely recorded and carefully documented in annals of church history, as I’ve only given a glimmer of it falsehood, masquerading as the head of Christendom, LIE, LIE, LIE!!!

    @..’AlexJ’…..You have asked me to prove something is wrong in the film, implying you think he got it all right without questioning it’ How have I implied that he got it All right? Just point that out. FYI..AJ is a red neck, that’s looking for fame and he can’t get me to follow him. The piece is not about him, its about the president of the USA. The facts about Barat are clear, but since you’ve posted I haven’t seen you dispute one damn thing regarding Obama. You can continue to follow Noam Chomsky who’s constantly being hailed as “one of the greatest intellectuals of our time” all the while he’s standing at the damn gate so that others don’t get past. How is it that only the ‘chosen few’ are regarded as the ‘best and greatest of out time’ while keeping the smoke in our eyes. Chomsky is a gatekeeper just like Jones.
    BTW, I’m not one to on pick on his wife and children and I know nothing about them and they don’t factor into this equation. So you need to keep it real.

    Hopi, you are incapable of receiving any ‘FACTUAL’ answers, as you ONLY recognise and receive LIES, so what’s the point?

    Where will you get off questioning the capacities of the human mind? If Hopi is incapable, so are you, but you know what, you demonstrate the incapability better than Hopi. You are the best example i have seen and for this reason:

    1. First, all the stories in the Bible, starting with the story of Adam and Eve existed long before the Bible.
    2. The concept of one God was really a re-statement of what prevailed before where you had a Godhead and lesser Gods which you now terming as angels; but the structure is the same.
    3. When you really face the facts, what the Bible did was to set it up in such a way as to attempt to erase all that transpired before it, including setting a date to the beginning of the world at 6000 years ago.

    These three factors alone prove the lie which you can’t see. You choose to deny your God given intellect and common sense and choose to believe a fairy tale in the fruitless hope that it is the truth.

    On the other hand, I cannot detect that level of ignorance in Hopi. Thus, you are a better example of mental and intellectual incapacity. Congrats!

    @Zoe……The point is that you have proven to me that when one becomes indoctrinated they don’t have to think. As a Black person growing up I was taught more about the white man’s STORY and how glorious it was and that mine was littered with savagery and barbarity and that the only way that ‘we’ could be saved was to accept some ‘saviour’ who looks just like the deceiver. Then as I grew older, this Jesus story didn’t add up. Then I realised that those who professed this Christ was responsible for the greatest human tragedies on planet earth, with the aid of such entities like the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Lands, the Bible, the Gun, the IMF, the UN and the World Bank. Then I started looking for my STORY and come to find out that the MYSTERY of my people validates the core of my existence. And since my STORY is so rich I am still on that path of learning and in the meantime I will never let my offspring enter a church to hear about this white man Jesus. I sit with them and talk to them about what went on back then and what’s going on now and how it’s all related. And I also tell them that ‘TRUTH beaten to the ground will RISE again’ and stand tall just like the Merkhut that our foreparents built at Giza and alinged them with the Orion Star system. WE WILL RISE AGAIN!

    When are you going to realise that there is nothing factual about the Bible because nothing in the Bible can be substantiated by any other source.

    It is as though the book was planted, which is why you say it was given by God, but who is this God? A little common sense should tell you that God is so vast that to confine that vastness to a person (even of immortality) one would surely lose the essence of what God is.

    In your scenario, your God is no more than the absentee owner of a plantation, whose angels are the overseers of the plantation and whose congregation is the slaves that work on the plantation with appointed leaders and all laws are handed down by the angels from God and all wrongdoers are punished by the angels in the name of God, the absentee landowner.

    My problem with your scenario is that the same God that made me, made the absentee land owner and all his angels and slaves. So when you done with all that Bible paranoia, you still have to deal with the maker of your soul and it surely ain’t that absentee landlord.

    @Rok……Zoe’s behaviour is the trademark of many a Christians. If you don’t accept them or disagree with their beliefs your soul is damned. You know how many families were destroyed because of this Christianity. What God would create something so evil and destructive to ‘his’ people? Look how many parents beat their children or put them out of the homes becuase they didn’t follow their christian beliefs.

    One has to wonder — are there not “negative” points “awarded” for raising challenges which one is not willing to fulfil.

    Or is this simply “managed” (read: “forgiven”) in “confession” (perhaps on your death-bed)?

    (This comes across to me as a dishonest position. As something much like a “Ponsie Scheme”…)

    Hopi, the Only Historic Person, ever to RISE again from the dead, is The Lord Jesus Christ, and His ‘true’ followers, who suffered untold persecution under the Roman state, during the first THREE centuries, and then again under the tyrannical development of ‘The Whore’ of Revelation’ Roman Catholicism and its despotic Popes, BUT, Almighty God, NEVER leaves Himself without a ‘witness’ as during the ‘Dark Ages’ there were always those bearing the true ‘Light’ of the Gospel of Christ, many of whom were burnt at the stakes, refusing to recant their resolute belief in the Word of God, rather than come under the vicious Papacy, and its utter unscriptural doctrine and DOGMA.

    Thank God, The Reformation, (1517-1530) was the turning point of Modern History; as The Reformation of the sixteenth century is, next to the birth of Christianty, first century A.D., the greatest event in history; it marks the End of the ‘Dark Ages’ and the beginning of modern times.

    The Reformation gave directly or indirectly, a mighty impluse to every forward movement, and made Protestantism the chief propelling force in the History of modern civilization, a fact still not recognized by many; literally the turning point in the history of mankind; which are felt to this very day, and will be felt until His Glorious Second Advent, the season, generation, to which He alluded, surely appears to be at hand.

    The Reformation refashioned the world from the innermost DEPTHS of the human soul, parched from the Mediaeval Period (A.D. 590-1517), which also encompassed the ‘Dark Ages’ (A.D. 1049-1294). from Gregory VII, to Boniface VIII; the decline of the Papacy and the preparation for Modern Chrisatianity, from Boniface VIII, to Martin Luther (A.D. 1294-1517).

    The way for Christianity was prepared by Moses and the Prophets, the dispersion of the Jews, the conquest of Alexander the Great, the language and literature of Greece, the arms and laws of Rome, the decay of idolatry, the spread of skepticism, the aspirations after a new revelation, the hopes of a coming Messiah, The Lord Jesus Christ.

    The Reformation was therefore preceded and necessitated by the corruption of the Papacy, the decline of monasticism, and scholastic theology, the growth of mysticism, the revival of letters, the Greek and Roman classics, the inventing of the printing press, the discovery of the new world, the publication of the Greek New Testament, the general spirit of enquiry, the striving for independance and personal freedom. In both centuries (A.D. 33-100) and the sixteenth century, we hear the Sovereign voice of Almighty God, calling LIGHT out of DARKNESS.

    The sixteenth century IS the age of renaissance, REBIRTH of Apostolic Christianity, Almighty God, in the face of The Lord Jesus Christ, who Alone, can SET mankind FREE from any bondage. As Luther wrote in 1522:

    “If you read all the annals of the past, you will find NO CENTURY like this since the birth of Christ.

    Catholicism developed an utter maze of so-called ‘Sacred Tradition’ with NO warrant whatsoever from the Bible, a labyrinth of fabricated, spurious tails, enormous lies, in order to lend support to its sacramental, sacerdotal Priestcraft, essentially to keep its adherents in subjection to the Papacy, denying the masses direct access to the Throne of Almighty God, through the sole Mediator, Advocate, and High Priest, The Lord Jesus Christ.

    It was evidently, the design of the Sovereingn Hand of Almighty God in Providence, to rekindle, reinvigorate, reinstate, reinforce, rejuvenate, the FIRE of the Holy Spirit that came upon the early first century Church, and this could only be done by the Reformation fire, burning in the heart of Martin Luther.

    The Reformation went back to the first principles of Historic, Apostolic, first century Christianity, in order to go forward, based entirely on the Word of God, the Bible, forever sealed in Heaven.

    No great movement in history, except Christianity itself, was so widely and throughly prepared as the Protestant Reformation.

    Christian freedom is so awesome a blessing, that no amount of abuse can justify a relapse into the state of spiritual despotism and slavery. But, only those who have enjoyed its liberty, peace, and joy, can properly appreciate it.

    The reformation removed the sacramental, sacerdotal, priestcraft obstruction which the Papal church had interposed between Christ and believers. It once again, opened the door to direct access and union with Jesus Christ, as the Only Mediator between God and man, and made the Gospel accessible to every reader without permission of a priest.

    It was the revival of Apostolic Christianity. There are three fundamental principles of the Reformation,

    1] The supremacy of Scriptures over tradition.

    2] The supremacy of faith over works, and,

    3] The supremacy of the Christian people over an exclusive priesthood.

    It is an historic FACT, that the Protestant Reformation, gave birth, to civil liberty in the Modern World, made the way possible for Democratic governance of many nations, from the tyranny of Kings and so on, and also, it was the true spirit of Evangelical Christianty in the person of Wilberforce and others, who fought relentlessly for the Abolition of the slave trade, all ceeded in the roots of God’s Word.

    You remind me of my 10 yr old… but let me tell you a story.

    A man came to me and asked me to call my contacts in a certain Government Department to help him through a problem.

    The next time I saw the man, he was all over me with praises. He thought I was the best man in the world because he got through.

    However, my problem was that the next day when I was supposed to call, I forgot. So he did not get my help, yet believed so strongly that it was I that helped, that when I told him I forgot he thought I was making sport. To this day he believes that I called.

    Now when you bring your witnesses giving praise to God for whatever, the problem is that there is no proof that God really did help. Remember what your Christ said when the woman touched his garment. He told her that it was her faith that healed her.

    Therefore, you come back to me. If your Christ himself recognise that it is the persons faith, then who are these witnesses that you bringing that could claim uncategorically that God helped them; you are going against your own faith.

    There are several more examples, such as the centurion that did not want Christ to go to his house. What did Christ say?

    Now you want to have a public debate or whatever, but you laying down the rules for you and for me. Very typical of you Christians. You really feel you could win? Man so much holes would get put into Christianity, I tell you already that it will shake your faith.

    Let me tell you what would happen to you. When the evidence start to overwhelm you, you will get up, state how blasphemous we all are and then start a sermon to appeal to emotion.

    My friend, the very reason why any person versed in the scriptures will tell you it is a matter of faith is because there is no evidence. Hence unless you believe the inconsistencies in the Bible and accept them as if they were facts, there could be no Christianity.

    I will tell you again, you better keep backing down because this will shake your faith. You will get nightmares for months on end and if you not careful will end up in the green gate hotel, halfway to Paradise when you leave Bridgetown.

    But this is my challenge to you. You go through the hospital from bed to bed praying for the sick to get well and spreading your word or however you choose. The beginning of the next month I will go to the hospital from bed to bed and at the end, let we see how many you heal and how many I heal.

    Here is a short list of fulfilled prophesies about Christ as requested

    (1) Genesis 3:15, the earliest specific prophecy concerning the Messiah, had predicted that He would be born of a woman. This was fulfilled by His birth of Mary (Matthew 1:20).

    (2) Isaiah 7:14 had foretold that the Messiah, Immanuel, would be born of a virgin. This was specificially fulfilled by His birth of the virgin Mary, as recorded in Matthew 1:18-23.

    (8) As we have already discovered, even the fact that Messiah would be preceded by a forerunner, a messenger, was known to the students of Old Testament prophecy (Isaiah 40:3; Matthew 3:1-2).

    (9) The wonderful ministry of miracles, the healing of the blind, the deaf, the lame, the dumb, had been foretold by Isaiah (35:5-6). This was brought to pass in Jesus’ ministry (Matthew 9:35).

    (10) Zechariah 9:9 had foreseen the fact that the Messiah would enter Jerusalem on a donkey. Shortly before His crucifixion, Jesus did just that (Luke 19:35-37).

    (11) David, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, had prophesied the resurrection of the Christ (Psalm 16:10). Peter, preaching the first sermon in the church, quoted this verse, and applied it to the resurrection (Acts 2:31).

    (12) David had also predicted the ascension of the Christ (Psalm 68:18). This is recorded in Acts 1:9. The Apostle Paul, years later, applied Psalm 68:18 to the ascension of the Lord (Ephesians 4:8-10).

    (13) The betrayal of the Messiah by one who had been His friend was no surprise, for it was prophetically seen in Psalm 41:9. Judas was this friend (Matthew 26:50; John 13:21).

    (14) Even the amount of money for which Jesus was betrayed had been specifically mentioned in the Old Testament (Zechariah 11:12). It was thirty pieces of silver (Matthew 26:15).

    (15) Zechariah 11:13 had further predicted that this same money would be thrown down in the temple at Jerusalem, which was�at that time�God’s house. Judas did that very thing (Matthew 27:5).

    (16) In prophetic language, Zechariah 13:7 had pictured the forsaking of Jesus by His disciples. Mark 14:50 reveals the total, stark fulfillment of this tragic event.

    (17) That the Messiah would be accused by false witnesses is seen in Psalm 35:11. That this actually occurred is recorded in Matthew 26:59-60.

    (18) Isaiah 53, a touching and dramatic foretelling of the crucifixion of the Messiah, stated that He would be dumb, or silent, before His accusers. In keeping with this, Jesus answered nothing to the accusations (Matthew 27:12). Later, the Apostle Peter makes reference to this, as well (I Peter 2:22-23).

    (19) Isaiah 53 also foretold the bruising and wounding of the Messiah, in verse 5. The fulfillment is recorded in Matthew 27:26.

    (20) Isaiah 50:6 had recorded a prediction of the smiting of the Messiah, and even the plucking of the hair from his cheeks, and spitting in His face. Luke 22:63 tells of the smiting of Jesus.

    (21) Psalm 22:7-8 describes the mocking that was done at the Messiah; the actual event is seen in Matthew 27:31.

    (22) The piercing of the Messiah’s hands and feet was foretold in both Psalm 22:16 and Zechariah 12:10. John 20:25 records the fulfillment.

    (23) Isaiah 53:12, the great predictive passage, said the Messiah would be “numbered with the transgressors.” This came to pass as He was crucified with thieves (Matthew 27:38).

    (24) Psalm 22, to which we have already referred, is another chapter which deals specifically with the crucifixion of the Messiah. Verse 18 foretold that His garments would be parted and lots cast for His robe. This was brought to pass by the actions of the Roman soldiers as Jesus hung on the cross (John 19:23-24).

    (25) The first verse of Psalm 22 had even recorded the Messiah’s forsaken cry, many hundreds of years in advance. His actual words at this desperate moment are found in Matthew 27:46.

    (26) The Roman soldiers, though they broke the bones of the thieves on either side of Jesus, did not break His. This was no accident, but had been foreseen in Psalm 34:20. The New Testament account is given in John 19:31-36.

    (27) Zechariah 12:10 did not limit the piercing of the Messiah to that of His hands and feet. As noted in John 19:34, He was also pierced in the side.

    (28) The unusual darkness which covered the land during the crucifixion of Christ (Matthew 27:45), had been foretold in Amos 8:9.

    (29) Returning to Isaiah 53:9, the burial of the Messiah in a rich man’s tomb had even been revealed. The record of the event is found in Matthew 27:57-60.

    Jesus fulfilled many Old Testament prophecies, when He came into the earth on God’s exact time schedule.
