  4. Hants the guys manufacture their rackets locally.

  5. @ David,

The racquets handles are NOT ergonomically designed.

It would be good for someone to use a “lawn tennis racquet handle as a “template”.

Barbados could be world leaders in the sport and should look to refine it before somebody else does.

  6. Agree with you Hants. You know how we like to procrastinate.

Max Verstappen drove an incredible race to be third.

  8. Yes Hants, he cant shake Nico though.

  9. Lewis said “It was a very easy race,” he said. “Probably one of the easier ones. I didn’t have any spins or moments, it was pretty straightforward. “

  10. Dear BU:

The Government recently announced 25 National Sports Icons ….. with a few deserved persons among the group & a couple jokers. The criteria used remains unknown. Anyhow, as we reach 50 not out, a small group of friends & I wondered how many “unique” Bajan sportspersons we have/had among us….. and have so far come up with a fairly short List.

The criteria is that the person must have achieved a feat that is unique and can qualify on a list that reads: “The only Bajan IN THE WORLD to …..”.

I am sure readers will add to this List but surprisingly, those that first spring to mind, do not qualify…eg: Oba …..sorry, not the “only Bajan in the world to win an Olympic medal” …… there was also Jim Wedderburn… and so on.

Please let us refrain from local or regional feats…… eg: “only Bajan in the world to score 400 in marble cricket”, or similar…….. stick to international/world accomplishments.

    Here is our List:

    ATHLETICS:
Ryan Brathwaite – Only Bajan in the WORLD to win Gold at the World Athletics
    Championships

    DRAUGHTS:
Ronald King – Only Bajan in the WORLD to win a World Draughts Championship

    ROWING:
Philip Als & Randal Valdez – only Bajan pair in the WORLD to Row across the Atlantic

    SWIMMING:
Leah Martindale – Only Bajan in the WORLD to swim in an Olympic Finals
Chris Gibbs – Only Bajan in the WORLD to swim across the English Channel (35 km)
Peter Gibbs – Only Bajan in the WORLD to swim across Lake Ontario (50km)

    TEST CRICKET:
Garry Sobers – Only Bajan in the WORLD to score 300+ runs in a Cricket Test Match innings
Malcolm Marshall – Only Bajan in the WORLD with 300+ Test Cricket wickets
Wesley Hall – Only Bajan in the WORLD to take a Test Match Cricket Hat-trick

  11. @ David,

Lewis on pole. Tomorrow’s race could be “epic”.

  12. Yes Hants, worried about his gear box though which is older than Nico’s

Nico does not handle pressure well and Red Bull and Ferrari seem to be competitive.

    Epic indeed!

  13. Lewis wins the race and tells the bosses to go fly a kite.

    Nico wins the world championship.

  14. Shock announcement ! Rosberg retires from F1.

  23. “Lewis Hamilton claimed his sixth successive pole position on Saturday, as he pulled out all the stops to top qualifying for the 2017 Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix, after Ferrari had led the first two phases of the session.

It was another close fight between Mercedes and the Scuderia, with Sebastian Vettel splitting the silver cars, only a tenth off Hamilton and just a thousandth of a second ahead of Valtteri Bottas in third.”

  24. @Hants

Botas needs to step up and protect LH on P1.

  26. Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton!
