West Indies is not a country. Its time individual countries in the area, that have a solid cricket heritage, leave this loused up group and apply for associate membership.
I am sure any of them, Trinidad, Guyana, Barbados etc etc would be as good as, or better than the present associate members Holland, Ireland and others who have no cricket legacy.
West Indies as an organised cricket team is a shambles . I think it is corrupt, prejudiced and without direction. In my opinion national teams would perform with pride for their country not like the present bungling disorganisation under a fake flag and diddly anthem.
Agree with you.

West Indies squad for ODI series against Netherlands and Pakistan:
Nicholas Pooran (C), Shai Hope (VC), Nkrumah Bonner, Shamarh Brooks, Keacy Carty, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Shermon Lewis, Kyle Mayers, Anderson Phillip, Rovman Powell, Jayden Seales, Romario Shepherd, and Hayden Walsh Jr.
I’ve heard the cricket enthusiasts saying this is a weak team.
If CWI is concentrating on grooming a ODI squad for the future, and in time for the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, then, giving the youngsters an opportunity to perform at the international level is the way forward, rather than selecting the ‘old and tried’ cricketers, hoping to win ‘NOW.’

Soccer is also a sports…
Surprise that Mr Barbados never talks about soccer. A practitioner of “if you cannot say anything good, then say nothing”
“On return there were renewed calls for the sacking of coach Russell Latapy from pundits and former national players, but shockingly the defeated players made a public stand by declaring they would quit if Latapy was sacked.”
If you were the coach of a losing team and the players threatened to quit if you were fired would you be please?
I wouldn’t. Having a bunch of losers giving strong support is not a vote of confidence. In the last ten games the goals are 450 against us to 1 for us.
Fire the coach, let the losers quit and start with a new team.
I like the opening paragraph “Local football players and fans certainly had an entertaining month of June.”
I watched every game and l was not entertained. Let me correct that. I tried to watch every game but fled when I started to feel depressed.
“We wonder what will become of the local players who threatened to quit if Latapy was sacked.
Will Latapy repay the blind loyalty of those players and others by taking them to the A-League with him or will they remain and rally with the new coach when appointed?”
I can answer that for you. NO.
Barbados has never been a dominant force in football.

“The team performed relatively well.”
Why relatively? What was lacking. Is “relatively well” the same thing as “well” or is it the same thing as “scraped by”?
This is like complimenting someone and adding a but. “You are a fine son, but …”
Is it just me. But when I hear “Goodwill Games” the first thing that come to mind is the “Special Olympics”. A next phrase that I hate.

I did not read the full post but it look as if Mc Watt is quite blunt.
Have a great day…
Condolences to his family… he rests peacefully now! He truly was a very smooth operator on the field!
And on this matter of cricket and ‘natural’ talent or rather a side-ways reference to how cricket has now evolved to a different ‘natural’ level due to the explosion of a more attacking style in the T20 and now T10 formats…
How on earth do you score 500 runs in ONE day in a Test match. Wow!
England scored 506/4 against Pakistan. It’s so laughable now to reflect that when Lloyd and Viv teams blasted 300+ runs a day regularly it was considered ‘too aggressive batting, ‘lacking patience and application’ or ‘swiping’ by the biggest snobs … LOL!
Nowadays less than that per day of test cricket is considered BORING … but 500 runs …. That’s some aggressive application to a slaughter there!😎
Next time. Unless the PM steps up to the stage.
@David, the WC shocks continue with Morocco beating Spain to make the last eight !
Someone drew to my attention today the lil tidbit that since 1930 when the WC started only around 10% of teams ever had a chance to WIN the Jules Rimet trophy as it was then called .. in short, out of the 32 teams that make it to the round-robin first stage ONLY 24 of 200+ soccer playing nations have EVER made it to the semi-finals!
And only EIGHT (4%) have ever WON!
To actually displace one of Brazil, France, Italy or Germany (as Croatia did in 2018) to reach the FINAL is actually a formidable task for nearly all of those over 200 playing countries!
I mention all that to say that it would statistically be a freaking MIRACLE for Morocco to beat Portugal and advance further …
So when FIFA talks of expanding the tournament to 48 with12 more teams in 2026 it means more money from spectators, marketing, TV/streaming, hosts cities etc of course … but how spectacular will be the additional quality, is a big query!!
So for the Canadians and Yankees who were overjoyed by their team successes … they need to keep their feet grounded and prepare for more pain and disappointment when they host next time around 😎 … but playing well as they suffer, tho!
We Bajans gine just watch as we will never get an invite to try a dance or two after a goal!
Ok @David, MIRALCES do happen! WOW!!!
Morocco has won .. OMG… can they now beat England or France! Well… how many expected Croatia to take out Brazil!
The first world-cup on the African continent; the first African nation into the semis! Amazing!!!
Morocco is a true lilliputian soccer nation but they have played like sensible superstars … not ONE goal scored against by opponents!
And powerful Portugal with ageing (and petulant superstar Ronaldo) and several other well-known stars who put 6 goals past Switzerland just days ago … STOPPED!
Amazingly awesome and surely ‘a salam alaikum’!
Oh yes, WI getting warmly thrashed over in Adelaide by the Aussies. That’s amazingly sad, but expected. Alas!
It is good to see underdogs entering the spotlight.
Question, to a Black African and those of us with African ancestry- is Morocco regarded an African country in our mind not to be confused with geography.
@David, an EXCELLENT query re “…to a Black African and those of us with African ancestry- is Morocco regarded an African country in our mind not to be confused with geography.” It does NOT.
And that is a reality check … because the question when asked in reverse returns the SAME answer … most Moroccans likely don’t see themselves as Black either!
As you note the geography is unquestionable …BUT as we know sub-Sahara and northern African countries are also unquestionably different in ethnic make-up!
Anyhow, for their success I embrace them wholeheartedly as brothers😎🤣!
Your last sentence sums it up for brown people everywhere.
The point must be made however, top soccer countries spend north of 200 million on their programs, that kind of money probably represents the budgets of all African countries. A Morocco win might persuade FIFA to allocate more funds to African soccer programs.
World Cup and no soccer from you?
But I can understand, the results of the National team would silence anyone.
And no cricket from you? But again I understand..
And on the national level… no mention of Sada (one of the few bright lights) in sports).
(I have already announced that I am on Team Maloney)
I am on Team Lewis Hamilton
Hopefully Elombe will talk to sis MIA about recognizing Sada
“Oh yes, WI getting warmly thrashed over in Adelaide by the Aussies. That’s amazingly sad, but expected. Alas!”

Expressing embarrassment at West Indies’ historic loss in the Test series against Australia and warning that the side’s decline in the longest format of the game could further worsen, former captain Carl Hooper has called for changes at the top.
Hooper, who captained West Indies in 22 Tests and played more than 100, said nothing else had worked to deliver results.
“Since 1993 we’ve struggled and certainly judging from the results, there’s no policies or systems that have been implemented that is changing the downwards course we’re on,” he told ABC Sport.
“We’ve changed captains, we’ve changed personnel, we’ve changed coaches — [it] hasn’t worked. So maybe let’s go a little bit higher and get people in these positions that can lead us in the right direction,” added Hooper who scored more than 5,000 runs and took more than 100 wickets and 100 catches in both Tests and ODIs during his 16-year career.
West Indies lost both matches in their two-match series against Australia – the second on Sunday by 419 runs at Adelaide Oval. Not only was that their worst ever Test defeat but their second innings total of 77 all out equalled their seventh-lowest total in the history of red ball cricket.
Despite the demoralising defeat, Hooper said it might not be the worst the Caribbean side will face.
“I don’t think we’ve hit rock bottom because every time I think we have, we keep going lower. It’s getting more and more embarrassing. I’m hurt today. I’ve never played in a West Indies side that has been bowled out for under 100. Just never,” the former all-rounder said.
“I mean your personal pride means you go out and fight. We’re not fighting to qualify in major tournaments. How much lower can we go?”
The series further extended the Caribbean side’s three-decade run without a series win against Australia and their 19-year wait for a Test match victory. (CMC)

Mr Theo you are showing that disappointment of which you spoke some days prior but we should not deliver any eulogy to WI cricket … our cricket body ails undoubtedly but others before have recovered from similiar symptoms and I am eternally hopeful that our base health is strong enough to do just the same!
Despite the thrashing we received in Australia there is some optimism … so we can chose to look at those bright spots or lament the negatives!
Young Chanderpaul made his debut and despite the hostile and stellar attack he faced he scored 51, 45, 47 and 17. One test does NOT a star make surely but that’s a 40 average from the top of the order … The captain Brathwaite also had a century and 50+ in the first Test!
Let’s be reminded of a few salient items:1) Cummings #1, Starc #10, Hazlewood and Lyons are all in the top 20 best bowlers in Tests: that attack is POTENT; 2) Gordon Greenidge on HIS debut in Australia in 1975 against the likely then #1 rated bowler and his other top 20 mates had scores of 0,0,3 and 8 in the first three test (he missed the second) … I have no idea what will be the arc of Chanderpaul’s career but Greenidge’s was none too shabby! … (to be CLEAR😎 it should be added of course that he debuted a year earlier in a Test in India with scores of 93, 107).
Yes they were shellacked … and absolutely considering that their first choice batsmen of Bonner and Myers had to sit out one or both Tests due to injury; that the ‘lame-duck’ coach was closing out his tenure after the debacle of the T20s and a host of other painful issues, it was not surprising nor shocking … So I choose to see the few positives!
The comments by Carl Hopper are understood but realistically change has been made to and from the top as well as it has been made with the players, coaches etc. So I don’t think that’s the issue in the least!
Suffice to say we have much room for improvement and ideally it starts with properly grooming young, talented folks like Chanderpaul and motivating them to be world beaters again!

West Indies beat Zimbabwe. Wins series.
this Maloney is no baloney lol
Was looking at a post where Barbados drew with Grenada 1-1. The Barbadian coach was complaining about the state of the field.
His complaint may be valid, but we should bear in mind that both teams play on the same field and at the same time.
Stop whining, man up, and get the job done.
Today, I read some cricket news and my mood became negative.
South Africa beating up the West Indies and at the same time claiming the WI are “dangerous”.
WI should stop playing cricket and Barbados should stop playing soccer
Why do these two teams have to rain on my days and depressed me?
Give it up.
