Last week a fellow on bail from one court in Barbados ,found self before another court, again, on another charge and was granted Bail yet again.
A fellow on the block asked me if like the Tennis Courts, the Squash Courts, the Netball Courts and the Basketball courts ,do the Law Courts in Barbados come under the Minister of Sports.

  5. Medal ceremony for women’s high jump live on cbc panam website above. Barbados bronze.

  6. @David,

I propose a BU recognition of Akela Jones. She had a personal best and set a new Barbados record.

  7. 100 metres final coming up in about 15 minutes. good luck to the 2 and a half Bajans.

  8. Shane Brathwaite and Gregmar Swift in 110 hurdles final.

  9. Shane Brathwaite gets the Bronze. runs a personal best. Swift was 4th and also ran a personal best.

Bajan atheletes have done very well.

  10. Yes Hants, and there is a possibility of a couple more in the long jump and 4×1 relay.

  11. Bajan DNA ( De Grasse ) helps Canada win gold in the 4 x 100 relay.

  12. @Hants

The Bajan team cracked under pressure. We have get better for worlds.

  13. Canada may be disqualified. Americans claiming a lane infraction by one of the Canadian sprinters.

    Stay tuned.

  14. @David,

F1 demolition derby today. Very entertaining. Nico very unlucky as was Lewis.

Lots of great wheel to wheel racing.

  15. @Hants

Have been more focussed on the story our Rihanna appears to be dating LH😀

  16. @ David maybe that is why he made mistakes today.lol

  17. A new book recalls the start of Caribbean domination and how Clive Lloyd led the islands to ‘fight fire with fire’ and become legends of the game

    Australia 60
    England 274/4 (65.0 ov)

Australia competing with West Indies again. lol

  19. So happy to see the Aussies take some cuffs in their big mouths. Very disparaging the way they always speak about other cricketing nations.

  20. What a weekend. 3 wins yesterday and 3 wins today including today’s feature stakes race.

Good Luck to Nico Reifer on his cricket journey and four-year scholarship to England .

I am definitely getting too old as I can clearly remember Leslie Reifer bullying the under-19 regional bowling with a double century as memory serves, and also his other relative George being the toast of the town back then.

And then of course there is George’s brother and then Flloyd and others of that clan Reifer.

Of course there are other Bajan families with deep sporting roots who have made it to the very top of national success but the Reifer name still stands out as part of the cricket fabric over the last 40+ years; may he become the ‘cricket legend’ that he strives towards.

And condolences to the family of Capt. Short so deeply involved in Bdos and WI cricket and the life of the country for generations. I also remember all those years back then when he heralded and watched George, desiring like us all that he would be the next Bdos/WI star.

  22. That’s the bold prediction of Noel Lynch, senior vice president of the Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB),

  23. @ David,

Lewis has been saying a lot of good things about Barbados.

That is the kind of positive vibe we need..

    I here watching FP2 .

  24. @Hants

    Priceless!

  25. @David,

Lewis on pole. “The Riri factor” has not affected his performance. lol

    Should be exciting race tomorrow.

  26. @Hants

That track will be a challenge…

  27. Usain Bolt vs. Justin Gatlin: Showdowns Await in Sprints

    http://static01.nyt.com/images/2015/08/22/sports/22TRACKweb/22TRACKweb-superJumbo.jpg

Usain Bolt won the gold and Justin Gatlin the silver in the 100 meters at the 2013 world track and field championships in Moscow.

  28. For years, one of the few certainties at major international track meets was that Usain Bolt would outsprint everyone.
But at the world track and field championships, which open Saturday in Beijing, there is an exotic feeling of unpredictability: Bolt faces a real threat from the American Justin Gatlin.
Bolt first burst into stardom at the 2008 Olympics in the same stadium where this week’s championships will take place, winning the 100- and 200-meter double and setting world records in both. (He picked up a third gold in the relay.) The next year, at the world championships in Berlin, he broke both records, and the marks of 9.58 and 19.19 seconds still stand.
In fact, Bolt has won nine of 10 golds in the 100 and 200 at every world championships and Olympics since 2008, missing out only when he false-started in the 100 final at the worlds in 2011.
It is Gatlin who has the year’s fastest time in the 100, a 9.74 in Qatar in May, and he has gone under 9.80 three other times this year. Bolt’s best is just 9.87. In the 200, Gatlin’s best time this year is 19.57, with Bolt’s a comparatively poky 20.13.
Based on his history and big-meet performances, Bolt is still a slight favorite in both races in Beijing this week. But there is a very real chance that he will lose to Gatlin, either in the 100 Sunday or the 200 Thursday.

  29. @ David.

Lewis was smooth as silk today. Great race.

  30. @Hants

Easy on a Sunday morning except for the entry into first turn.

  31. Other major story. Bolt beats Gatlin and 20 year old De Grasse gets bronze.

  32. @Hants

No surprise with Bolt, he has been playing cat and mouse all season with him. Head over brawn and ignorance. The US sprinters, most of them, are cheaters.

  33. Quote from Bolt yesterday-

“I run. I win. I give interviews. Then I go home.”

Classic! Got a tongue like the Greatest! Suck it to them, Lightning Bolt!

  34. @David,

Canadian Andre De Grasse bronze medal is the big story in Canada.

De Grasse father is a Bajan and his mother is Trini.

He is only 20 years old so he could be the next great Canadian sprinter.

  35. @Hants

Good for him but he has a long way to go. He was off the pace in the race, there is hope though. Tell him to stay clean and don’t follow in the footsteps of US sprinters.

  36. @ David,

I am not his father. lol.

I wish him much success in the future.

  37. Usain Bolt Crush Justin Gatlin in Men’s 100m Final in 9.79 at IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015

  38. Jason Holder is the new West Indies Test Captain.

    Georgie Porgie should be pleased.

  39. @Hants

We need to find some world class players. We have none in the making.

  40. Lewis on pole, Ferrari looking good.

  41. Hants

LH must be nervous given what happened to NR’s engine.

  42. @ David,

The Sauber colors are similar to the Barbados flag.

If they were a contender the BTA would have a marketing opportunity.

  43. @Hants

That would be Guerrilla advertising 🙂

  44. That was a scary jast few laps for Lewis.

Telling to increase lap times but not giving him a reason.

Then seeing Nico’s car blow the engine.

  45. @David,

Great TV sports day for me today. Lewis wins and Serena wins. sweeeeeet!

  46. Yes Hants, indeed and strange you forgot to mention Rico Walcott’s triple on Friday?
