UK Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Drax  has effectively said in the past that he does not owe anybody anything in regards to the going concern of Drax Plantation located in Barbados.

While it is intuitive to me that Mr. Drax shouldn’t be legally liable for crimes committed by his ancestors, I cannot say the same for the going concern called Drax Plantation.

My view is that Drax Plantation is a “corporate person” under the law. Therefore like any other “person” who has committed a crime, Drax Planation must face the consequences of the law. 

In fact, law enforcement should begin with those crimes that have no statue of limitation. e.g. murder.

This article published by The Guardian alleges that the Government of Barbados is set to purchase Drax  Plantation (Drax Hall Plantation) located on the island from British MP, Mr. Drax after centuries of ownership within his family.

History will judge the alleged proposed action by the Government of Barbados.

The Conservative MP under fire for his ancestors’ role in Caribbean slavery is in line for a multimillion-pound payout from the Barbados government.

Despite threats to make Richard Drax pay reparations and seize his family’s plantation – described by one historian as a “killing field” of enslaved Africans – the government is now planning to pay market value for 21 hectares (about 15 football pitches) of his land for housing.

The move has angered many Barbadians, especially those who say the Drax family played a pivotal role in the development of slavery-based sugar production and the Barbados slave code in the 17th century. This denied Black Africans basic human rights, including the right to life.

    What our leaders seem to be oblivious to is the fact that the Drax family and their cousins, the Codringtons, were Quaker in the 17th century.

    One of the Drax family is believed to have been buried on the plantation, clearly with his slaves.

    There are two Garden fields, 18 acres, which hopefully the GOB won’t dig up and move the earth and the remains of our ancestors to please!!

    The GOB has no moral authority to speak of reparations as they routinely desecrate graves of our ancestors.

    I imagine Drax laughing and waiting for these idiots to expose themselves.

    Remember, he got all the historical records of the plantation and knows what is what!!

    Our leaders are totally ignorant of our heritage.

    Wickedness and evil. Selloutism. There are not only Afrikan ancestors buried on the Drax estate but many Afrikans descendants carry the bloodlines of slave masters and the estate should be going directly to them no questions asked. If the people were not so weak willed they would sue the judas government and Drax for what is rightfully theirs, as slave master bloodlines.

    I think sweet justice would be to take white peoples children as well as adults and brand them to show ownership of property and whip them to force them into servitude for 20 generations, it is God’s wish for them.

    Well, we could proffer that the pragmatists around us would prefer to pay the three million or whatever and avoid the sordid details of chattle slavery.

    For them, nostalgia is inconsistent with pragmatism. Pragmatism as central to neoliberalism.

    Then there are the elite academicians longing to make a name for themselves within a system which deploys the model of the Holocaust Industries, so well articulated elsewhere, where European Jewry, the elites, used this playbook to, on the one hand, whitewash their own history as leading slave traders, and on the other, to weaponize European guilt for the percieved sins of the Third Reich.

    The naked truth is that these socalled jews, or more properly, kazars, were never liked by any of the Europeans, not even the Russians. And all of them conducted pogroms against jews. This was more a function of the then percieved wickedness of these socalled jews than anything else. Palestine witnesses this, this day!

    Of course, there are other forces driving us towards the disparities well established amongst world jewry.

    For we see no scope for justice coming from any of these sides.

    In the case of Drax Hall, there is certainly not enough there to make complete sense within the reparations discourse.

    And while Drax’s argument holds little credence, the corollory of a university system presenting itself as the repository for the earnings of our Afrikan Ancestors, especially when it attempts to extract money or value from the decendants of slave owners, but presumes that such a university has some right to intermediate such rights of the decendants of chattel slavery, is Indeed no less than a more vicious continuation of the very system of chattel slavery.

    A reckoning must come!

    Pragmatists may move heaven and earth to avoid this reckoning. However, pleadings about nostalgia cannot bend this historical arc away from its course towards divine justice.

    Those actions would be counterproductive….555. The issue here is that the prime minister is well aware that many Afrikan desscents carry the bloodlines of slave masters from different plantations from that era, but instead of addressing that particular issue to right past wrongs she is colluding to cut out those bloodlines so they get nothing. Then spinning all over the place talking about suing UK and Europe for reparations and reeled Afrika into the mess. Now people can plainly see this was all an act to fool the world.

    There must be a reckoning. There will be no escape for traitors.

    Harriet Jacobs was born into slavery in North Carolina. After escaping to New York, Jacobs eventually wrote a narrative of her enslavement under the pseudonym of Linda Brent. In this excerpt Jacobs explains her experience struggling with sexual assault from her enslaver.

    The secrets of slavery are concealed like those of the Inquisition. My master was, to my knowledge, the father of eleven slaves. But did the mothers dare to tell who was the father of their children? Did the other slaves dare to allude to it, except in whispers among themselves? No, indeed! They knew too well the terrible consequences.

    Southern women often marry a man knowing that he is the father of many little slaves. They do not trouble themselves about it. They regard such children as property, as marketable as the pigs on the plantation; and it is seldom that they do not make them aware of this by passing them into the slave-trader’s hands as soon as possible, and thus getting them out of their sight. I am glad to say there are some honorable exceptions.

    I have myself known two southern wives who exhorted their husbands to free those slaves towards whom they stood in a “parental relation;” and their request was granted. These husbands blushed before the superior nobleness of their wives’ natures. Though they had only counseled them to do that which it was their duty to do, it commanded their respect, and rendered their conduct more exemplary. Concealment was at an end, and confidence took the place of distrust.

    Though this bad institution deadens the moral sense, even in white women, to a fearful extent, it is not altogether extinct. I have heard southern ladies say of Mr. Such a one, “He not only thinks it no disgrace to be the father of those little niggers, but he is not ashamed to call himself their master. I declare, such things ought not to be tolerated in any decent society!”

    Should a Black government ,in an essentially Black country , spouting pretty talk globally about reparations, now go and give money back to the same white European people who executed unthinkable physical, mental and other atrocities against Black people, during and after slavery , in that Black government’s country Barbados, it would be a massive betrayal of any so-called Covenant of Hope, that Black government promised the people of Barbados.

    If I were Drax, I would sell the idiots the land.

    I would accept the money from the GOB, convey the land and then expose the documents I suspect his family has in England and show the world exactly where the burials are.

    I would then recommend to the GOB in pubic, that it continues to preserve and protect the graves of our ancestors as he and his ancestors did, that will probably be 18 out the 50 acres the GOB plans to expropriate.

    Then I would laugh all the way to the bank to collect the funds deposited by my lawyer, assuming the cheque did not bounce!!

    No. The Barbados government should not take up money paid by the mainly black taxpayers of Barbados, all of us descendants of black enslaved people and pass that money into the hands of the Drax family.

    The Drax family does not deserve to get anything else out of Bajans. They got hundreds of years of free labour. Enough is enough.

    Neither I nor my parents nor grandparents were born or raised anywhere near Drax Hall; yet the phrase to describe great wealth was “to own Drax Hall and Kendall” [plantations]

    This issue has been the subject matter of several scathing Judgments delivered by the Caribbean Court of Justice…

    Last January (2023) a Litigant successfully obtained an award for damages in the High Court for a Breach of Section 84 of the Constitution. In that case “the Litigant waited 30 months for a Decision” the High Court determined that the “outer limit” for delivery of Judgments in Barbados is Six (6) Months, after the conclusion of a trial and as such the Claimants Constitutional Rights were infringed…

    The Claimant was awarded $35,000.00 in damages. The Court reasoned that “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied and a Delay in Justice is equal to a Denial of Justice…”

    Under the Land Valuation Act, a deeply entrenched Act of Parliament, governed by the supremacy of the Constitution, most important, Section 1 of the said Constitution, there was never any Amendment made to include or replace the Commissioner of Land Tax, a Public Officer, with or by a Revenue Commissioner who falls outside the Public Service…

    No such Entrenchment Procedure was done in relation to the Land Valuation Act…

    The post of Revenue Commissioner has been established by the Barbados Revenue Authority Act…

    Parliament is controlled by Constitutional Law…

    Under this particular act, Parliament decided for itself that the BRA ACT will override the Land Valuation Act, thus giving rise to a concept called Parliamentary Supremacy…

    There are two concepts at work:
    (1) Parliamentary Supremacy which allows the PM to dictate, and
    (2) Constitutional Supremacy which allows the PM to be controlled by Constitutional Law…

    Section 1 of the Constitution indicates Supremacy of the Constitution…
    Section 4 subsection 4 indicates the supremacy of the PM.
    Therefore there are two (2) Supreme Law clauses and One (1) must override the other, so the Constitutional Supreme Law overrides the BRA Law Clause…

    May 16th 2024 will mark the “Second Anniversary” of the date when Justice Cicely Chase WITHHELD* her decision on the $22M Claim…

    Furthermore, in late 2023, Monsieur Lee was quietly told that she (THE JUDGE) is only allowed a 6 month timeline to do such. So the learned Justice used her 6 months and “OVERSTEPPED” into 17 months of an abuse of privileged power – drawing a huge salary paid for by the Barbadian Taxpayers…

    The “City of Bridgetown Credit Union” (#C.O.B) also got impatient and disposed of Mr. Lee’s [3] properties…

    As result of such pecuniary loss and the effect of being ‘BANNED’ from being able to obtain Credit from ANY Lending agency or institution in Barbados – as a result of “THOSE NASTY, STINKING CRIMINAL BASTERDS” at C.O.B posting the worst possible Credit Rating against Mr. Lee’s name and the names of his family – including, WIFE, DAUGHTER, BROTHER, & BROTHER IN LAW – who were classified as “BORROWERS” at the time of the booking of the loan…

    It is now FIVE weeks short of TWO Years since JUSTICE CICELEY CHASE withheld her decision yet draws a monthly salary while Mr Lee can’t even properly provide for his family given his MOM* & DAD* worked their socks off to leave their children well provided for. Surely my dear BRUH* – she is in CLEAR BREACH of the CCJ Ruling that should guide her!!!

    FINALLY BASED ON A NATION OF LAWS:

    I leave you with 4 questions:

    (1) When someone at the Land Tax Department (renamed the B.R.A) goes into the Land Database and illegally devalues a property by 50% doesn’t this make the sale Null & Void???
    (2) Shouldn’t the Commissioner of Police be called in to investigate this theft? (As Gov’t gets Land Tax & Property Transfer Tax based on the property values, given that they were swindled out of 50% of both elements of Taxes due)
    (3) Beyond the ethical remit, didn’t C.O.B break the law by presumptuously selling the properties given the fact that the decision on the $22M claim was not yet handed down.
    (4) As the Judge in question has clearly abused her power, shouldn’t she be also sued for the 17 months of delay and potentially be “DISBARRED” from the bench & from practicing law???

    WHAT SAY YE???

    Actually this money was not paid by the BRITISH STATE. The British government of the day borrowed the money from the banks. The loan was not repaid until 2015 so therefore some of my black relatives, and other black Caribbean people who migrated to the UK, their labour/their taxes helped to repay the loan. Therefore the descendants of enslaved people paid the loan that helped to enrich people like the Draxes. If I know this Drax must know it as well.

    Retained ownership of Drax Hall.
    No way should the poor overburdened tax payers of Barbados now pay them millions of pounds for Drax Hall.

Long ago I had a kid at Harrison College. 180 students entered in first form [age 11]. By 6th form [age 16] when my kid was studying history, 6 people [SIX PEOPLE] were in the A’Level history class.

    6 out of 180.

    So do wunna really, really believe that our political class know our history?

    Cuddear, it’s not Drax doing this. The prime minister knows Drax should not get a dime for that cursed house of horrors. She knows who in that area and beyond are related to Drax and entitled to reparations but should also be able to claim the 621 acres among themselves as blood descent of Drax. And the people should GET REPARATIONS IN THEIR HANDS for centuries of Drax atrocities.

    Just like the prime minister knows who am related to and all the holdings involved, but never saw fit to say anything to me, because she had an agenda for what is rightfully mine. I can guarantee she never told any of the Black people related to Drax who they are, care nothing about them or if they get their birthright or reparations. ..but naturally sees herself benefitting. The problem is in the corrupt parliament in Barbados, not in UK. They can do nothing without black traitors.

Those same plantocrats were the lawmakers and they told other white men like themselves that their children born of a black woman were bastards/children of no man. A BIG, FAT legal lie. I agree with you that almost certainly some of the people in Drax Hall and surrounding villages are blood relatives of the Draxes. Blood relatives who received nothing from the Draxes except rape and hard labour.

    And even then they legislated that what they were doing to the young girls back then was not rape. Because the same white lawmakers/plantation owners and managers said it was not rape because the young women were not human, they said that they were property, and property could not be raped.

    We know better.

    To have sex with a young woman without her consent is and has always been a gross violation of her person. Rape was commonplace in ALL plantation societies. If it was not. How is it that most black people in Barbados and the region are EVIDENTLY of mixed race.

    Historically, I needed to draw “CLEAR” distinctions between #TheCityOfLondon & the UKGOV* as having distinct roles and structures with the “MONARCHY” as an adjunct to this “MEDIEVAL TRILATERAL PYRAMID”…

    The court system continues to labour under the weight of an enormous case load. Only today in the news the CJ with his retirement exit date looming on the radar has become strident on many challenges facing the judiciary in Barbados.

    How could the GoB ever consider compensating, in monetary terms, the Drax family for lands stolen from the indigenous people of Barbadoes called the Kalinag people?

    Did he, Colonel James Drax- along with his Dutch conquistadores- pay compensation for the lands forcibly appropriated from the natives of Barbados?

    What about the compensation due to the ancestors of those Africans who were forcibly brought to Barbadoes and enslaved for almost 200 years on those very lands making up the Drax Hall plantation?

    Should both of those justified claims for monetary compensation be set off against what the British taxpayers had to pay to the same Drax family in respect of their claim for the loss of property as a result of the Abolition of Slavery Act in the 1830’s?

    Now where would the GoB get the forex from in order the pay the Drax family in the UK?

    Would it be by borrowing it from the IMF or asking White Oak to refund the millions scammed under the guise of debt restructuring with Avinash’s finder fees taken into consideration?

    Rouland Bulkeley. Heir William Bulkeley. Charge of £20 per year on pltn to be paid to Vestry of St. George for educational purposes (Rouland Bulkeley & John Elliott had already combined to build a free school on Bulkeley pltn land – see Mayo map. Payment of perpetual charge of £20 per year lapsed about 1710. in 1811 the Rector of st. George rediscovered the charge and at his request the Attorney General sued the then owner Thomas Clarke Trotman for £2300 arrears. The Court awarded a £1500 payment to the Vestry of St. George. This payment of £20 per year is still made by owners of the plantation to the Government of Barbados)

    The school was established in 1695 as the Drax Parish School, under the 1682 will of plantation owner Colonel Henry Drax (great-uncle of the Whig politician Henry Drax), who had left 2000 pounds sterling for the establishment and endowment of a “free school or Colledge” “to continue forever”.[3]: 52  The executors not having acted in a timely manner, the parish authorities eventually did. The oldest secondary school on Barbados and one of the oldest schools in the Caribbean,[1] it underwent several name changes and relocations before settling within the Parish of St Michael, at Waterford, on the outskirts of the capital of Barbados, Bridgetown, in 1819.[4][5]

    You miss the point that there are two types of bondage, spiritual and physical.

    A slave can be free spiritually.

    I believe that a lot of people are missing the point of this story.

    In the mother country, at the height of a general election, the Conservative party will always claim that if the Labour party were voted into power they would renationalise a host of previously owned state enterprises which would lead to the departure of foreign companies; which in turn would lead to mass unemployment.

    Mia wants to send out a clear message to foreign entities that Barbados is a country built on the principles of “laws”. She is not going to act in a manner which will deter foreign entities from “making money” in Barbados.

    She is merely emulating what the majority of ex-slave societies with African ancestry has carried out throughout the ages, particularly the continent of South America. Slavery days are done. The descendants of those slaves have become obsolete. Mia has expressed her desire that Barbados should become the Monaco of the Caribbean.

    We know that there are many wealthy international black people. However our prime minister envisages a Barbados that is embellished by a wealthy elite and international actors who will bring some of their wealth to Barbados. Mia wants to see a more diverse and a whiter Barbados. Why upset the apple cart and confiscate the man’s plantation without compensation. That would not instil confidence within these communities.

    Take a good look at the wholesale purchase of land and property throughout Barbados over the last 30 years, or certainly since the period under Owen Arthur who foolishly gave permission to allow foreigners to take out freeholder status on land and property.

    Barbados has little interest in its own people. I had a look at the luxurious plantation development in the above sales promotion and compared it to the neglect of those many splendid old buildings scattered throughout the island. It paints us blacks in a bad light as merely bystanders and onlookers of our own self-destruction.

    How indeed. Drax should get no money, descendants left and went to UK from 1948, worked and repaid the debt for slave masters who claimed they lost slaves. Slaves, most of whom had bloodline ties to slave masters, did not know, and could do nothing about it back then. We have only been finding this out in the last 5 or 6 years, but wicked politicians always knew our identities.

They can also find out who they really are and reclaim their stolen identities so that crooked politicians dont cash in on the information, as they have already started doing…but they have to want to….
