Attached are charts for week ending 25th June.  The big news is that at the end of that week there were a few spikes that slightly blurred the successes of the past 6 months.  However, there does not appear to be cause for any panic at this time as larger spikes have been contained previously.  The watchword is now for everyone to be scrupulously compliant with the existing established protocols, especially masking up, and to take up the available vaccines asap.  The active charts for the other Islands continues the trends observed over the past few weeks – Source: Lyall Small

In an impassioned plea at yesterdays COVID 10 Press conference  (26 June 2021) Dr. Corey Forde, infection specialist with lead responsibility in the battle against COVID 19 advised unvaccinated Barbadians to come forward and be vaccinated. Of interest is that he revealed a younger Barbadian with no underlying medical condition is being diagnosed with more frequency.

The thrust of the recent update is a response to an understandable complacency being observed after weeks of recording negligible cases.

Although the vast majority of people infected with COVID 19 do recover, the stress it exerts on a fragile economy, healthcare system and quality of life for some infected with the virus makes it an urgent requirement to comply public health protocol i.e. regular washing of hands, wearing masks, physical distancing etc. Ideally all Bajans are asked to be vaccinated against COVID 19 which is the best solution science guarantees.

As the country opens up to receive more tourists, especially from the UK where the Delta variant is present, the most important form of defence against the virus is for Barbadians and residents on the island to take responsibility for what is required to effectively fight back the virus.  If we do not, we will have to live with the consequences.

    “Fresh water in Northern Grenada is obtained from three sources – surface water from rivers and springs, two natural lakes at Grand Etang and Lake Antoine district and some Rainwater Harvesting (RWH). Most of the surface flows originate from the high rainfall areas in the central mountain ranges of the island.”

    Like Dominica, its water sources are well separated from waste water.

    I have not had a COVID jab to date and don’t plan on thinking about it till next year when the results of the worldwide clinical trials are known.

    @David, Australia shut most foreigners out and still the Delta variant got in. All it takes is one person.

    Do you really think that by keeping UK travellers specifically out, will result in those countries avoiding the Delta variant forever.

    That is ridiculous. The idiot Macron campaigned against the Astrazeneca vaccine and the EU is now in a bind.

    Vaccination is the only way out. Results in the US, for those who accepted the vaccine, the UK and Israel all demonstrate this.

    Unfortunately, it may be a race against time to get more people vaccinated, before an even worse variant arises.

    If that happens before many more are vaccinated or built some level of immunity by being exposed and survive the current strains without the damage that some suffer, it will probably have a significant effect on the world’s population.

    This is the elephant in the room that people are ignoring. Strange that no one had said it.

    Well I have now.

    All of the recognised experts in the field of virology and epidemics are robust in their assurance that vaccines are the only answer.

    The evidence to date is that vaccines also substabtially reduce hospitalisations and deaths. It was known from the beginning of the mass vaccinations that 1) people could still get sick, but generally not severely. 2) there would be breakthrough cases, in the minority, where severe illness and death results. This is not news.

    Getting the whole population vaccinated is currently the only viable approach.

    Dont….and forget about mass tourism until 2024. With all that entails.

    Comments like this are why @GP had to take a sabbatical from replying to educated people spouting ignorant and misleading statements. It is demoralizing trying to get people to look at all the science and evidence instead of the nuggets that fits their view.

    Experts regularly refuse to further investigate evidence and delve into science that goes against their expert theories until the evidence against becomes overwhelming.

    Check the results in the United Arab Emirates with one of the highest vaccination rates in the world.

    Cases rising as well as deaths.

    Seemingly no effect.

    Check the vaccination rates in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

    Slowly rising but not much effect because of the low numbers of cases and deaths with Singapore ahead.
    .
    Dominica seems to have plateaued.

    With zero deaths and 193 cases to date, why worry.

    Canada is even more highly jabbed than Israel.

    WITH BARBADOS now investigating two family clusters and two businesses with increasing COVID-19 infections, public health authorities have hit a familiar snag once more.
    Barbadians are again making it difficult for contact tracing investigations to delve deep into the origins of some clusters. They are either not providing enough information or being dishonest when questioned about their whereabouts to determine if they are primary or secondary contacts in the fight against the viral illness.
    Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George told the DAILY NATION yesterday that contact tracing to get to the bottom of the current clusters would continue apace, but health officials were
    being met with way too much resistance.
    “Contact tracing is only as good as the information gathered and will require the cooperation of the entire country. Dr (Corey) Forde (isolation facilities manager at Harrison Point) has made this plea before, and I’m making it again to the public. When our people come around as part of a contact tracing investigation, please give them honest and accurate information.
    Greatest threat
    “We need individuals to give us the right information so we can have insights and be allowed to go further into our investigations. That is our greatest threat at the moment,” he said about the resistance.
    George said officials had continued to ramp up their work over the weekend, conducting more than 600 tests, and the testing of numerous primary and secondary contacts from the family clusters and manufacturing
    business places had allowed some people to return home after two consecutive negative PCR tests.
    He said increased testing of the two family clusters had led to a discovery of a friend (primary contact) who was linked to separate clusters. “We were able to discover five new cases from that contact tracing – two from one family and three from another, both linked to a friend.”
    George added that contact tracing initiative had stemmed from the Barbados national netball team in training, the one infection at Princess Margaret Secondary School last Friday, and one from Ann Hill School on the same day.
    “A lot of people believe the friend, who is a primary contact, linked to the families would be one cluster, but based on the contact tracing, I consider that two clusters,” the public health specialist noted.
    However, he did reveal that all people associated with the netball team in training who had been quarantined had completed consecutive negative tests over the weekend and were cleared and released.
    Starting today, several people in quarantine at approved hotels associated with the two clusters from the manufacturing business are slated to have second tests as well.
    The positive tests from the St Michael business, first revealed by Minister of Health Jeffrey Bostic last week, have moved from 11 COVID-19 infections to 14 after three new
    cases were part of the infections discovered over the weekend.
    No new infections
    No more new infections have materialised from the two cases associated with Princess Margaret Secondary School and Ann Hill School.
    Late Sunday, the Ministry of Education released a media statement confirming the two positive cases at the schools and revealing that Princess Margaret had been cleaned and sanitised, and face-to-face classes would resume today.
    In addition, Ann Hill School would be facilitating online classes this week as contact tracing continued.
    The ministry also apologised for the inconvenience.

    Did you even read the article in the link from my post (@Critical Analyzer June 29, 2021 12:45 AM)?

    How can you claim it is unsubstantiated crackpot science when the same doctor has gone onto treat thousands of patients with no hospitalizations or deaths. If Dr Forde and the other doctors treating COVID had had his success, Barbados would not be locked down, fully open for business and had one or two deaths and having a bumper tourist season over the last year.

    His treatment protocols are wildly successful, cheaper to implement and give fantastic results which are much better and more reliable than any vaccine. His finding have also been published in a medical magazine and all you can say is nonsense. Playing politics in a situation is fun but not when it is adversely affecting true science and people’s lives.

    Where have we heard much of tis before?

    Leave the numbers where they are so by sometime next year I and others like me who can analyze them can see if the jab really worked or not.

    I would agree adding the deaths from flu and heart disease.

    There may however be riots as people get to understand what has been done to them and their livelihood.

    The Barbados Meteorological Services continues to closely monitor the progress of two tropical waves in the central Atlantic.

    SPECIAL NOTES:-

    TROPICAL WAVE #16
    The first tropical wave was located near 60W at 11:00 am today 30th June 2021, which is just west of Barbados. This system remains disorganized due to unsupportive surrounding environmental conditions. Further development of this system is likely to be slow as it tracks westward to west-northwestward at 40km/h (or 25mph). On its current forecast track, the relatively strong wind field is expected to pass north of Barbados this afternoon, 30th June 2021. Total rainfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with isolated higher amounts are possible across Barbados during the next 12 hours.

    TROPICAL WAVE #17
    The second tropical wave was located near 41W with an associated broad area of low pressure centered near 9.2N 41.7W or about 1240 miles (2000 kilometers) to the east of Barbados at 11 am. Showers and thunderstorms associated with this feature continued to become better organized throughout the night and some slow development of this system is possible as it tracks westward to west-northwestward at 35 km/h (or 22mph). Regardless of development, this system has the potential to produce heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across Barbados and the southern Windwards by Friday morning 2nd July 2021. In addition, there is a possibility that a tropical storm watch may be issued for Barbados later today.

    Recommendations to the public:
    The public is urged to monitor closely the progress of both of these systems over the next few days and stay alert for updates from the BMS.

    The next update will be at 5 pm Wednesday 30th June 2021, or sooner if conditions warrant.

    A little birdie told me to keep an eye out for the preliminary results of the Arizona Election Ballots Full Forensic Audit within the next 2 weeks. For the last 2 or more months, they been hand counting and inspecting every single ballot cast.

    Somebody will laugh and somebody will cry, 100% guaranteed. The question will be who.

    It was never about getting rid of Trump. I was always about preventing him from pushing for Early Treatment Studies so they can get their EUA for vaccines to make their billions.

    We had a whole year and practically no variants of concern and as soon as vaccines start getting rolled out widespread in October/November, more transmissible variants start coming out.
