The FBI is investigating the death of George Floyd, black man who was pinned on the neck by a police officer and later died in custody. Minnesota’s Attorney General Keith Ellison joins The Beat with Ari Melber’s breaking coverage on the latest from the FBI and the protests. While the officers involved have yet to be charged, Ellison argues a “quick arrest” might “make people feel better about justice” it is “important” for investigators to “take the time to make sure that these charges, if they are brought forward, stick.

There is an epigram ( I am giving myself some latitude using the word) that, students of food are introduced to when starting out in the field. It is about a fly which has some how managed to gain entrance to to the processing area ( maybe some one did not closed the door correctly). The fly keeps buzzing around one’s head despite several attempts to swat it. Such a fly is said to have a nuisance value. You fit the description of a fly which has a nuisance value ( in addition to being a pompous ass who thought he was the brightest spark on the block ,only to discover else wise).

  2. ‘How did someone end up dying?’: Family of black Toronto woman allege officers ‘threw’ her off balcony

The family of 29-year-old, Regis Korchinski-Paquet sounded the alarm after Toronto Police Service classified the death of their loved one as a suicide. Korchiniski-Paquet died after falling from the 24th floor of her apartment in High Park on Wednesday, but the family insists the young woman was killed and did not commit suicide.

“The police killed my daughter, came in my apartment and shoved her off the building,” alleged Claudette Korchinski-Beals, mother of the victim in a video making the rounds on social media.

THE ABOVE HAPPENED 2 DAYS AGO IN TORONTO CANADA.

ANYONE REMEMBER THE YOUNG BLACK MAN A RASTAFARIAN THAT WAS ALSO A UWI GRADUATE ENGINEER I BELIEVE THAT WAS PUSHED OFF THE CLIFF IN BARBADOS AROUND 12 YEARS AGO BY BLACK BAJAN POLICE OFFICERS.

NOT ONE RH LOCAL POLICE OFFICER INVOLVED ARRESTED OR CONVICTED.

  3. @ William Skinner May 29, 2020 7:15 AM

How am I playing the victim? Am I playing the victim by stating that I expect to be unpopular for stating my position and knowing in advance what the reaction would be? You post verified what I expected. i do not believe in following the herd. I think for myself and am capable of dealing with views different from my own. You have your views and their differ from mine.

I HAVE TOLD YOU BEFORE, YOU DONT NEED TO ANSWER THESE “LUMINARIES”
& YOU SHOULD STOP THROWING YOUR PEARLS TO THE SWINE.
YOU MUST LEARN TO ROCK AND MOCK
    WATCH NOW WATCH

  5. @ Donna May 29, 2020 11:24 AM

You seem to lose your cool very easily. The operative statement in my post pertains to the fact that the rioters are perpetrating looting on members of their own community. I said that such actions should be reflected on. If they want to riot and burn down properties, surely ,should they not be doing so against their oppressors?

  6. Baje

    U git a video?
    U got eye witnesses?

    Where is ur evidence?

    Show us !!

  7. You are a sambo. A coon.

I saw the post and was some nonplus by it and I replied to it in a succinct manner. I have no problem with your position.

  9. I try to avoid conversation that refer to the orange one.

Also, I try to avoid conversations about race in the US on BU because it tend to take a strange twist.

As the father of a young black male, I always worry about him. But when I examine the risk/benefits I prefer that he takes his chances here.

Disappointed and sad, but still believing in the future.

  10. According to Pachamama:

Every time an Afrikan American is ruthlessly murdered by a racist national police force of the USA we can rely on dutiful cunts like ROBERT LUCAS et al to talk about a so-called Black-on-Black crime phenomenon as if Black people are genetically predisposed to killing other Blacks.

Our histories are replete with ass-licking, boot-licking, Uncle Toms like Robert Lucas

He continues his canard… despite our offering that about 90 percent of Whites murdered happen as White-on-White crime. And that the statistic is not statistically different for Afrikan-American. Yet he continues with his blood libel against Black people.

LUCAS is incapable of seeing a world with White-on-White crime.

Lucas is capable of making claims against Muslims, Hindus and everybody else who is non-White but NEVER against White people

We are therefore forced to conclude that ROBERT LUCAS and his fellow travelers are modern day negroes whose very existence depends on hatred of self and an uncompromising obeisance to White anti-human thinking. He therefore is well worthy of death from their continuing thought crimes against Black people.

  11. @ Pachamama May 29, 2020 6:49 AM

You have verified what I have said about you. You were short-changed when logic was being handed out. I suggest that you peruse your post critically and see for yourself that it is not germane to the gist of my post.

  12. @Baje,

next time an issue with Bim police comes up and you want to discuss it in detail i will be your Huckleberry.

in the meantime Floyd’s murder is the matter at hand. you shouldnt conflate the issues

  13. @ RL,

    no problem. lol

  14. DR LUCAS
YOU ARE UNREASONABLY ASKING TOO MUCH OF Pachamama WHO IS ALSO SUPPOSED TO BE ONE OF THE BU LUMINARIES. IT IS CLEAR TO ME, HOWEVER, THAT ANY BETZ CELLS THAT HE MAY ONCE HAVE HAD HAVE UNDERGONE METAPLASIA.

  15. Surprise that on this issue John2 and Baje could not find common ground.

Shows that even politics can decide our response to a problem.

  16. EVERY TIME THAT A WHITE POLICE OR A WHITE PERSON KILLS A BLACK MAN IN THE USA, THERE IS AN OUTRAGE ON BU.

BLACK FOLK KILL SEVERAL OF THEIR OWN DAILY IN CHICAGO AND OTHER PREDOMINANTLY CITIES DAILY…NOT A PEEP!

  17. is blacks killings blacks is an excuse to dismiss Floyd’s murder. who are you to suggest what we Blacks should or should not discuss

  23. Former US Republican President, George W. Bush Condemns Donald Trump’s “Racism.” “I don’t like the racism and I don’t like the name-calling and I don’t like the people feeling alienated.” Nobody likes that,” President Bush told People Magazine in an interview

“I don’t like the people feeling alienated,” the former president said. “Nobody likes that.”

“I don’t like the people feeling alienated,” the former president said. “Nobody likes that.”

  24. Can anybody explain why the Minneapolis people arrested the CNN reporter?

  25. @David,

interesting read of the complaint and charges. the officer pointed a gun at Floyd, after asking him out of the car dragged him out, handcuffed him and then told him what the incident was all about. handcuffing a suspect is a technical arrest, at least in the UK.

was the complaint genuine? was the 20 indeed counterfeit?

the remainder re FLoyd informing them he was claustrophobic and the following reaction not to mention not rolling him on his back as suggested by one of the officer is quite alarming

  26. @Greene

What happened is symptomatic of what is wrong with how minorities are treated in the USA, like dogs.

  27. I FIND THIS VERY INTERESTING

According to a report from The Guardian, however, Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar had a chance to prosecute Derek Chauvin, the police officer at the center of this gruesome incident – but declined to do so.

Klobuchar who was a state prosecutor at the time, ignored previous conduct complaints against the officer. “Between 1999 and 2007, Klobuchar, the state’s then top prosecutor, declined to press charges against more than a dozen officers accused of killing civilians,” The Guardian reported.

To make matters worse a local news outlet reported that Chauvin “had 18 prior complaints filed against him with the Minneapolis Police Department’s Internal Affairs.”

The Washington Post highlighted another racially charged case that Klobuchar declined to bring charges in that involved the death of 44-year-old Christopher Burns, an unarmed black man, who died after he was put in a choke hold by law enforcement officers who were responding to a domestic violence call.

“The focus of the community’s anger was Amy Klobuchar, the up-and-coming attorney of Hennepin County, who had declined to prosecute police accused of using excessive force against black suspects,” The Washington Post reported. “At the same time, she aggressively prosecuted smaller offenses such as vandalism and routinely sought longer-than-recommended sentences, including for minors.”

  28. @Greene

What happened is symptomatic of what is wrong with how minorities are treated in the USA, like dogs.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

NOW THIS IS A REALLY DUMB AND STUPID COMMENT.

HAVING LIVED PREVIOUSLY IN THE USA FOR OVER 15 YEARS I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED LIKE A DOG AND NO ONE THAT I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH WHO IS BLACK, ASIAN OR HISPANIC HAVE EVER VENTED THOSE SENTIMENTS IN HOW THEY FELT TREATED.

I HAVE SEEN WHITE PEOPLE BEING TREATED IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE BY THEIR OWN PEOPLE WITH MANY BEING HOMELESS.

I WONDER IF WHEN BLACKS DEMONIZE AND BRUTALIZE EACH OTHER IN BARBADOS WHAT DO YOU CALL IT, normality.

  29. Agreed, David, that “justice must be served”.

I expect that the third degree murder charge and the manslaughter charge is a crumb, a sop if you will, to appease those who are seriously concerned and who riot as a direct result of their frustration at the delays in prosecuting Chauvin and the other rogue police for Floyd’s Murder.

The charges against Chauvin so far, are, in my opinion, intended to derail the protests and prevent more rioting. … buying time. If convicted, the maximum sentences – 25 years and 10 years – might also be made to run concurrently by some Judge.

However, we should have confidence in Fmr Congressman, and current Minnesota A.G, Keith Ellison, an intelligent and progressive individual.

Finally, we should never trivialize the murder of innocents. Thus, George Floyd was and is presumed innocent, both at the time of his murder, and thereafter.

We must therefore forego and ignore the ludicrous and insensitive chatter by some who really ought to know better in such tragic matters of life and death and murdered innocence.

Know that I do not countenance or condone murder in any way, shape or fashion.

However, as concerns Fmr. P.O Chauvin, perhaps some kindly fellow inmate will probe him with an ice pick in the left side of his chest (no vital organs there) some future day. Or, not unlike the inmate who iced Jeffrey Dahmer, and others. But, then again, Chauvin might be insulated, like many a crooked cop, by his fellow confederates, from the fate he so richly deserves.

  30. WAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITT!

THE BU PSEUDO PATHOLOGICAL EXPERTS AINT PICK UP IN THE NEWS REPORTS ON ON THIS=>

The criminal complaint, citing the autopsy, pointed out that Floyd did not die from strangulation but a combination of being restrained along with various underlying medical conditions including heart disease and hypertension.

    LET THE FUN BEGIN !
I EXPECT TO HEAR INTER ALIA FROM DPD, THE KNOWN EXPERT ON CERVICAL INJURIES AND EMERGENCY POST MORTEMS.

@David BU from what i understand it was confusion where he should actually be while reporting and the arresting officer was “following orders” . He was reporting from where the police were positioned.
Also a prelim autopsy report said that Floyd did not die directly from Chavins’ “knee” . If this is true the officer MAY not be CONVICTED for murder but manslaughter. This is why investigations take time, it is the same reason why the other 3 officers are not charged and arrested at this point. Apparently Floyd and Chauvin also worked at the same place before so they possibly knew each other; another spin in this case

  33. Understood the legal hurdles and process that must be managed given the matter at hand. Notwithstanding the matter taken in context epitomizes the overt racism embedded in the USA establishment.

  34. @Disgusting

Those White policemen saw a Black man. A dog to be kicked.

  35. “The criminal complaint, citing the autopsy, pointed out that Floyd did not die from strangulation but a combination of being restrained along with various underlying medical conditions including heart disease and hypertension.”

why was he being restrained? was a crime established that was arrestable? is a mere complaint a crime?

isnt placing a knee to the neck (for 9 minutes 2 of which was after Floyd stop breathing) even if it was the primary cause of death against departmental policy along with placing a suspect on his stomach?

all of that notwithstanding, wrt pre exiting conditions, have you ever heard of the eggshell skull rule in criminal law?

    you are trying too hard

Also some people on this blog wants to muddle “regular crime” with “racially motivated crime” along with “racially motivated crime perpetuated by LAW enforcers” along with “racially motivated crime perpetuated by White LAW enforcers on minorities in Trumps’ America”. All are WRONG but are perceived differently especially in a country that has a less than rosy past with racism (to put it tamely)

  38. RE you are trying too hard
I AM NOT TRYING AT ALL
I AM JUST WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE BU PATHOLOGISTS WITH RESPECT TO the autopsy, which pointed out that Floyd did not die from strangulation but a combination of being restrained along with various underlying medical conditions including heart disease and hypertension.

  39. when they cant defeat my arguments and when they cant understand what I am saying they delete my post

  40. re isnt placing a knee to the neck (for 9 minutes 2 of which was after Floyd stop breathing) even if it was not the primary cause of death against departmental policy along with placing a suspect on his stomach?

THIS DUMMY IS TALKING BOUT departmental policy along with placing a suspect on his stomach AND I TALKING ABOUT PATHOLOGY AND PATHO-PHYSIOLOGY?

  41. Baje. U r an ass

I do not condone any police brutality in any country

What u want us to protest about the what u call police brutality in Barbados is lacking in evidence.

Where is ur evidence to lock up or protest the officers u said push the guy over the cliff. Or the one at oistins did u see the the reported causes of death?

The recent deaths in USA that action was taken again police/ whites that kill blacks were mostly because of video evidence

They have been doing it and getting away with it until now everyone got cameras

So again. Where is ur evidence fir the cases in Barbados. You ass

Untill you get some it is just ur opinion

If I remember correctly. They were a cop/s that had dont something wrong in bim that was caught on camera I think there was an investigation into the matter. But I cannot remember what had happen or the outcome

    Ps

Speaks fir youself. I can tell of having two officers pulling me over after midnight with guns drawn. Asking form my license and insurance Then to finally tell me that one of my head lights was out. Guess what color were the cops.

Black man driving old car late at night
Cannot tell how many time I got pulled over in that old car. And everytime it was at night. White cops. And some bogus excuse

  42. @Disgusting

Think about it, the journalist was arrested while on air and the police did not care. It gives you an idea the beast on the lose in the USA.

  43. all of that notwithstanding, wrt pre exiting conditions, have you ever heard of the eggshell skull rule in criminal law?

doesnt have to be the primary cause once it contributes to death that could trigger the eggshell skull rule

  44. @Greene

You hit the nail on the head, the WHITE policeman held his knee on the BLACK mans neck for three minutes even though he was unresponsive.

  45. If there was no video evidence of the white shooting black here in Georgia there would have been no protest and no arrest

  46. BLACK LIVES MATTER

    BLACK LIVES MATTER

    BLACK LUVES RH MATTER

    GOOD!

  47. the eggshell skull rule in criminal law HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PATHOLOGY HERE

YOU CAN BREAK YOUR EGG SHELLS AND MAKE AN OMELETTE

IT IS NOTEWORTHY THAT THE AUTOPSY REVEALED THAT HE DID NOT DIE FROM STRANGULATION.
I FIND THAT VERY INTERESTING AS EVERYONE WAS HARPING ON KNEE ON NECK

I WANT TO HEAR SOME PATHOLOGY AND ABOUT CAUSE OF DEATH

  48. RE BLACK LIVES MATTER BLACK LIVES MATTER
BARK AND BRAY AND CURSE AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE IN YOUR EMOTIONAL RANTS. DO FOLK IN USA THINK SO? DO FOLK IN POWER IN BARBADOS REALLY THINK SO? DOES THE BLP GUVMENT THINK SO

  49. the WHITE policeman held his knee on the BLACK mans neck for three minutes even though he was unresponsive.
YET HE DID NOT DIE FROM STRANGULATION ACCORDING TO THE AUTOPSY
