I’m to ask and every right thinking person must be wondering: in whose interest is the Mia Mottley Administration managing the affairs of this country?
I would not be so silly to suggest that previous administration left this country in good order. And I would be the first to admit that the new administration needed to take measures to restructure and stabilise the economy. But so far, the measures imposed by this new labour party administration has shown a merciless disregard for the plight of the most vulnerable in this society. As promised, the Government removed the much vilified National Society Responsibility Levy (NSRL), which was collected from the merchant class up front, and replaced it with a series of punitive measures that took particular aim at the poor and labouring classes in the country.
This country is badly in need of revenue and the Government seems content to raise the necessary funds to run the country by taxing the people that a labour party was philosophically set up to protect. On the other hand, this administration has moved swiftly to ensure that its friends and family are protected from the ravages of this marauding tax collecting machine that came into power on May 25, 2018.
This administration has even placed a tax on water, while at the same time forgiving the billions of dollars in income taxes that were owed mainly by the merchant class, who fund election campaigns, and by their close friends and family.
Last December the Government introduced and passed an amendment to the Income Tax Act to write off taxes that were owed by persons between 1968 and 2000. The cynical among us, including me, believe that this was a measure aimed at giving tax relief to the Prime Minister’s father.
The country did not cry out about that atrocity and that has emboldened the Government to prepare legislation that would write off the Value Added Tax (VAT) that was collected and stolen by VAT registrants between 1996 and 2000. The furniture store, Courts, is set to receive a write off of the principal sum of $35 million not included interest and penalties, that will also be written off by this legislation.
Lord, the people of this country prayed for a change but if they only knew what they would have gotten. I am reminded of what my grandmother would say: BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PRAY FOR, YOU MIGHT GET IT.
The amendment bill is attached.

Maybe Dale Whistleblower should have kept his mouth shut about the US advisory….now he has to explain away the UK and Canadian advisories….ah waiting to hear that SPIN…..it should be even better than the one he stuttered out.
Enuff yardfowl…maybe ya can help out by writing that press release….ah cant wait…lol
@ Freedom Crier
Poverty Exist in every country of the world but in the US their idea of poverty is if someone works for under $24.000 per year which is $48.000 thousand Bajan dollars which is nearly a thousand dollars per week. Everything in Barbados is Expensive and things are cheap in the U.S. compared to Barbados. Electricity is a fraction of the price in Barbados, Cars and other Vehicles do not attract a 200+% Duty as in Barbados etc. So the U.S. poverty line of $24.000 per year is the equivalent to about $80-100 thousand Bajan dollars buying power.
So just in case Donna when people read your idea of poverty in America they have to put it in context.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You are speaking the TRUTH.
A pox have been placed on this govt because of their lies and decitfulness in trying to win the election
Who would have thought that in eight months barbados crime rate would have skyrocketed to 200 percent
These things doth the Lord hate and are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue
A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren
All the above mentioned can be associated with present govt as their hastened to win the election
Now barbados would suffer the repercussions of such wicked deeds
Also one can add stealing the food off the table of the Dominican people in an hastened and vile approach called poaching
The crime rate has not skyrocketed by 200%.
@FC
Your numbers are incorrect. Please look at the table
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_the_United_States#Two_official_measures_of_poverty
You cannot reduce poverty in the US to a single number as the cost of living varies greatly from State to State.
As you can see below, it is a function of the number of people in the family and which state they live in.
A person who gets by in Alabama on $12,140 would catch their royals in NY.
HS) figures for Federal Poverty Level in 2018[31]
Persons in
Family Unit 48 Contiguous States
and D.C. Alaska Hawaii
1 $12,140 $15,180 $13,960
2 $16,460 $20,580 $18,930
3 $20,780 $25,980 $23,900
4 $25,100 $31,380 $28,870
5 $29,420 $36,780 $33,840
6 $33,740 $42,180 $38,810
7 $38,060 $47,580 $43,780
8 $42,380 $52,980 $48,750
Each additional
person adds $4,320 $5,400 $4,970
Wages are also a function of the state that you liv e in.
Your statement
” So the U.S. poverty line of $24.000 per year is the equivalent to about $80-100 thousand Bajan dollars buying power.”
is nonsense
I believe a person making $80K-100K BDS has a MUCH higher standard of living than a person making $24K in the US.
Note the old useless Bajan argument… the comparison of Barbados to the US (or England, France, Spain, China, Finland ….)
TheOGazerts
Brilliant!!!
Sound analysis……. a very good contribution.
David how about Deceitfulness and lying Care to comment in respect to govt promises made and not kept
Oh are you saying that when media reports a 200percent in violent crime it is fake news
If there is anyone here who is deceitful and lying, it’s you…… and for obvious reasons.
The report suggested it was MURDERS that increased by 200% and NOT crime in general.
It’s a pity you cannot engage in an honest discussion without manipulating the truth and politicizing every issue.
And how do you define violent crime
Spiraling of crime attributed to this govt leaves a stain on this country and taints and stigamized the overall country addding with a negative effecting to the doward spiraling if an economy
One can rest assure that Tourist with families reading that advisory would make decisions that would put their safety first
This govt had all the answers when campaigning but now the rubber has hit the road we have an AG saying the advisory is much ado about nothing and points his finger to exemplified other countries
What a Duffus
The crime situation cannot be attributed to any one thing. You may want to add for example that under the last government containers at the Port were being not being efficiently scanned. In fact only one scanner was working and at one point none.
You need to stop your Lilliputian interventions.
David you can also add that a fouteen year Blp govt who boasted on having the best economy and financial resources and time should have used those resources to upgrade and beef up or security in and around our ports and borders including immigration
Less you forget that when past govt laid out plans or meadures for increase security in the ports and immigration the long hue and cries came from the blp( now present govt) and their cronies including the Unions ..Hell No was the words spelled out in black and white
In any case it is a crying shame that when in opposition for ten years this present govt did not table a security plan among themselves which they could in the eight month period used to adress security problems
However instead resort to a useless policy of “blame game and smoke and mirrors”
What they should ALL be explaining…is what they did with the $500,000 US gave for the island’s security…if no scanners were bought…let alone maintained or cameras installed in those 4 free-for- all gun, drug and stolen vehicles running ports…in all that time…what did they do with the money…
ah included the private airstrip at the old Sewell where it is known that those private planes also carry guns, drugs, hoes and other contraband…
Violent crimes may be defined as those offences that involve the use or threat of force, such as murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault (e.g. burglary, robbery, muggings, serious bodily harm, assault with the intent to commit murder, robbery or rape, etc.), drive-by shootings.
If police stats indicate there has been a decrease in violent crimes, with the exception of murder, which they suggested has increased to 200%, does this mean violent crimes, in general, increased by 200%?
Your comment to separate and define is not sufficient to take away the sting and effect when the reader/tourist/ visitor take a read of what is stated in the media of 200percent spiral in crime
Those accessing the report understands that violence is attributed to actions of criminal activity
Very few if any would go to the trouble of defintion by way of analysis
The fact being that such reports and advisory sends mutiple red flags whether they be crimes of one nature or another and is not good for any economy
*BIBLE SCHOLARS BELIEVE THE BIBLE
RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS TALK ABOUT “COMMON SENSE’ AND THE TRADITIONS AND THOUGHTS OF MEN
JESUS CONDEMNED THE RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS OF HIS DAY
WE STILL HAVE SUCH TODAY WHO “ARE EVER LEARNING, BUT NEVER COMING TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH!’
IN STEAD OF LISTENING TO YOUR RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS AND THEIR SERMONS—-OR EVEN ME– YOU OUGHT TO DO LIKE THOSE AT BEREA RECORDED IN ACTS 17:11*
”…Rocking on to the back foot and cracking that one away for four”
You KNOW your mentioning it was “stated in the media of 200 percent spiral in crime” is UNTRUE. It indicates the lengths you’re willing to take……… spreading lies and propaganda to fulfil your political agenda.
To mention re: “Very few if any would go to the trouble of definition by way of analysis, is RUBBISH, because an analysis of the crimes was included in the police report and is there for Barbadians and visitors alike to read and understand.
Unless you believe tourists are silly or have a political agenda similar to yours…… and will interpret the stats to mean “all hell has broken loose” in Barbados.
On one hand you’re implying visitors would not analyse the report and would assume crime is 200%………..but contradicted yourself re: “Those accessing the report understands that violence is attributed to actions of criminal activity.”
What you are attempting to do is undermine, manipulate and “politically spin” that analysis, to indicate the present administration is responsible for what you intentionally perceive in your mind, as a crime situation spiraling out of control.
In other words, you are engaging in an activity you admonished critics of your administration in undertaking……….which is, spreading “doom and gloom” and hysteria. What is also amazing, is when the critics were giving negative commentary about the socio-economic and crime situations under your administration, you accused them of being “unpatriotic, not putting Barbados first, as well as ‘scaring’ tourists and investors.”
It’s a pity you believe you’re justified in engaging in similar activities, because it is political expedient for you to do so.
I agree that there is a cause to be concerned about the recent shooting deaths……… and this administration, which, while in opposition, projected the view they had solutions for every problem. So far, AG Marshall has not demonstrated he has the ability to develop policy initiatives to address the crime situation……other than the “knee jerk” reaction of hiring former Commissioners of Police as crime consultants (Durant and Watson opt out due to illness) and increased joint police/soldier patrols.
It is interesting to note, however, that this recent advisory, similarly to other advisories issued in the past, does NOT tell US citizens NOT TO VISIT Barbados, but to be careful of going into specific areas at specific times of the day.
However, some days you make reasonable points that merit the “spot on” and “keep digging” accolades. But today, you’re struggling on this crime issue. Why? Because you began with UNTRUTHS.
Anyhow……. I dun wid you and dat.
GP,
You keep knocking the Codrington College scholars but isn’t it funny that, having been taught by these scholars, more often than not I agree with you? On this one matter we disagree. I believe that though the poor will always be with us (as Jesus said but could be concluded by anyone with half a brain) we should take reasonable action to reduce their presence in our midst to those who refuse to work or do not work hard. They are poor by choice. Those who labour should be paid commensurate with their contribution to wealth creation. This is an ideal we should work towards though recognizing that as with everything else we shall never achieve in total. Just as medicine cannot stop death but still works to delay it and improve the quality of life.. No ideal is ever reached. There will be no Utopia as long as flawed mankind rule this earth. Do you suggest that we should sit on our asses and just do nothing????? Is this what Jesus suggested we do – wait for pie in the sky when we die by and by??????? Quote me the passages that say we should do that!
PS. You berate me for taking a passage out of context but here it is that you take one simple statement – the poor will always be with us – and extrapolate all manner of things from that simple statement of the reality that man is sinful. You do not add the context in which the statement was made. But we know that it was a SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCE surrounding Jesus’ anointing by a Mary and Judas’ thinking that she wasted money that could have been distributed to the poor.. Your argument is DISINGENUOUS AND BENEATH YOU. Jesus REPEATEDLY SPOKE ABOUT WHAT OUR ATTITUDE SHOULD BE TO THE POOR!
You, I’m afraid cannot see the forest for the trees.
But….. all of us here KNOW that your greatest failing is pride and you are incapable of conceding a single point. We understand your absolute compulsion to have the last word and so you are welcome to it.
Looney Tunes
I do not believe that Jesus was a socialist or a capitalist or of any other man made political ideology. I believe he stood for JUSTICE which would of course include fair wages for labour. This does not happen with unchecked capitalism. Fair wages are not paid to those who ACTUALLY PRODUCE the wealth that further enriches the rich. This is EXPLOITATION. There should be a more robust bonus agreement that distributes profits fairly with the providers of ideas and capital taking shares for each of those contributions and those who actually do the labour receiving a more substantial share. I do not consider that the owners have fairly accumulated their wealth and therefore taxation is not stealing but forcing them to pay their fair share. WHICH WE ALL KNOW VERY FEW PEOPLE WOULD EVER DO UNLESS FORCED TO DO SO.
I do not see any Bible passage that speaks to the evils of some (NOT ALL) ownership of capital by the state or the evils of reasonable taxation or any of the things you espouse. These are man made constructs to which you adhere with extreme religious zeal. This should be obvious to all since you have offered the quotes of man to back you up and not Bible passages.
PS. Why do you keep referring to Denmark. I posted on NORWAY which has more than the average state ownership of capital. It is a hybrid of capitalism and socialism. And it is working.
I think I have presented enough that your googly-eyed (this is how I picture you when I read your posts) looneyism is refuted. This why I post and not to convince you. It is OBVIOUSLY insane to argue with a lunatic.
So, you too may have the last word. Knock your looney self out!
To rational people,
Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic ideology. This may be true. But billions of people are still poor and getting poorer relative to the capitalists Their wages do not keep up with inflation while the capitalists for whom they labour triple their wealth. There is a reason why we use the term “filthy rich” to describe them. Left unchecked i.e. wages not keeping up with inflation, how long will it take for those who have been lifted out of poverty to return to poverty?.
And that is common sense. Not googly-eyed faux religious ideology.
We must continue to look for a better system since unchecked capitalism has reached the limits of its usefulness. It has plateaued and is on its way down the curve.
Good Day All
What ever u say it advisories does not bode well to the country safety
We now are beginning to the sown seeds of corrupt govt who boasted about having a vibrant economy but did nothing to protect our borders (as evident in the fast rise in crime that has taken over our shores
Yesterday I caught a minibus. The driver was driving and whatsapping. I told him I felt unsafe. He offered to put me out in the rain. I refused since he had taken me from the terminal where I had shelter and I was told that my other option was to sit down and shut to RH up. Of course I did not do that. He realized that he had no option but to put the phone away. Passengers laughed at me. Called me miserable. Told me that I should say a prayer and hope for the best because I am not the driver and cannot determine what a driver does and that by speaking negative words into the atmosphere I was calling an accident into being. When I reached my destination it was determined that I need a man in my life.
Some arguments on Bu remind me of that level of logic.
Dullard.
How do you know that I have not done that??????? Maybe after doing that I agree with the religious scholars.
That is a yorker on your bloody ignorant stumps.
Yes, I agree…… seeds of corruption SOWN by BOTH BLP and DLP administrations.
You keep mentioning “the fast rise in crime that has taken over our shores.”
WHERE ID YOUR PROOF?
Could you please post to BU, the stats that verify your claim or direct the forum from whence this information came?
More minibus logic.
Jesus condemned the religious scholars of the day and therefore he would condemn all religious scholars of today.
SMH and done with that.

I DON’T REALLY CARE IF YOU DO OR IF YOU DONT
. I believe that though the poor will always be with us (as Jesus said
YOU SHOULD STOP THERE ON THAT MATTER CAUSE THAT IS A FACT THAT CAN NOT BE REFUTED
we should take reasonable action to reduce their presence in our midst OF THE POOR BUT AS JESUS SAID WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US AND WE STILL DO AND ALWAYS WILL
. Those who labour should be paid commensurate with their contribution to wealth creation. This is an ideal we should work towards though recognizing that as with everything else we shall never achieve in total.
ALL VERY TRUE BUT AS JESUS SAID WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US AND WE STILL DO AND ALWAYS WILL
No ideal is ever reached. There will be no Utopia as long as flawed mankind rule this earth.
THAT IS VERY TRUE. WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE MILLENIAL KINGDOM WHEN JESUS WILL REIGN WITH AN IRON ROD FROM SHORE TO SHORE FOR THE TIME OF UTOPIA
Do you suggest that we should sit on our asses and just do nothing?????
NO I NEVER SAID THAT I SAID THAT JESUS SAID THAT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US AND WE STILL DO AND ALWAYS WILL

WHEN YA RIGHT YA RIGHT
JESUS SAID THAT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US AND WE STILL DO AND ALWAYS WILL
BY THE WAY WHEREAS Jesus stood for JUSTICE HE ALSO GAVE A STORY THAT SUGGESTS THAT WORKERS TEND TO GET WHAT THEY AGREE TO WORK FOR
WORKERS CAN REFUSE TO WORK IF THEY DO NOT LIKE THE WAGES OFFERED AND STAY AT HOME
I HAVE REFUSED SEVERAL TEACHING JOBS AT OFFSHORE MEDICAL SCHOOLS OVER THE YEARS BECAUSE I DID NOT LIKE THE WAGES I WAS OFFERED
RE I do not see any Bible passage that speaks to the evils of ownership of capital by the state or the evils of reasonable
JESUS SAID WE SHOULD RENDER TO CAESAR I.E THE STATE WHAT WAS DUE
AND HE PAID THE TAXES
I do not see any Bible passage that speaks to SOCIALISM OR COMMUNISM EITHER UH LIE?
THIS IS SOND DOCTRINE THAT CAN NOT BE REFUTED
ONE APPRECIATES YOUR ZEAL FOR THE POOR BUT JESUS SAID THAT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US AND WE STILL DO AND ALWAYS WILL
AND YOU CANT DO A THING BOUT UM EXCEPT RANT AND RAVE
RE When I reached my destination it was determined that I need a man in my life.
THIS MAY BE TRUE. MAYBE THIS CAN NOT BE REFUTED EITHER

RE Jesus condemned the religious scholars of the day and therefore he would condemn all religious scholars of today.
VERY LIKELY , IF WE WOULD GO BY MARK 7
Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
6He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with theirlips, but their heart is far from me.
7Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
MAYBE HE WOULD POINT THEM TO COLLOSSIANS 2 ESPECIALLY VERS 8
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
I keep asking myself how a govt (blp) that boasted of having the greatest economy . Not use the financial resources to secure barbados borders
Ii doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the value of protecting a country borders
Even a simple minded person with little or no education.having financial resources would protect their property from intruders
The question which should be asked of this govt why did they not see protection and safety as a number one priorty in their 14 year of goverence
Now that the shi..t has hit the celing the outspoken AG Marshall who once had all the answers to barbados problems speaks fowl..sh it
You seem to be correlating “protecting our borders” with gun crimes. And by protecting our borders, you often refer to the biometric technology.
The finger print technology is a means of identifying non-nationals who were previously deported or wanted for crimes in other jurisdictions, but have assumed different identities, by obtaining “false” passports and identification bearing another name, to enter countries.
You cannot seriously conclude that the non-implementation of the biometric fingerprinting technology is responsible for an increase in illegal guns or gun crimes, when guns are reportedly brought into the island by means other than the sea or air ports.
Where is the evidence to suggest crime is being committed by non-national that entered Barbados other than by an official port of entry?
You need to stop this nonsense. If I had presented this argument, I’m sure the president of your fan club would have accused me of appalling ignorance as a result of learning by rote.
But as I constantly mention, it’s not about WHAT is written….. it’s about WHO wrote it.
Here are a few FACTS.
I can walk into to my local Walmart, Best Buy or Target and purchase a 42inch Flat Screen TV for under US$200 or BD$400 in Barbados impossible to buy a brand new 42inch Flatscreen for under BD$1000 from any Major Retailer.
I can go to a major local grocery store and purchase US$200 or BD$400 in food including meats same in Barbados is going to cost anywhere over BD$1000.
I can go to my local Toyota or Honda Dealer and buy a nice new economy car with at least 5 to 7-year warranty for under US$20,000 or BD$40,000 the same equivalent car price in Barbados is well over $100,000.
Mercedes brand new starting under US$30,000 or BD$60,000 similar costing from Simpson Motors the dealer several hundred Thousand BD$.
Anyone can go to the Dollar Tree Store NATIONWIDE and find quality products at no more than US$1 including cosmetics, food, household, pharmaceuticals, stationery etc.
In no State in the USA does anyone has to pay a Sales Tax of 17.5% in addition to all the other myriad of taxes added on the island.
So it is a nonsensical argument that US$24,000 salary in the USA is NOT about or more than the spending power of BD$80,000 salary in Barbados.
These are just a few examples which I can add many more from living on the island of Barbados and in the USA.
I did not mention clothes, shoes and many other items we use daily.
I bought my girlfriend recently a brand new 32inch Flatscreen TV for $115 for her birthday.

@Facts Not Fiction March 8, 2019 6:03 PM “I can go to a major local grocery store and purchase US$200 or BD$400 in food including meats same in Barbados is going to cost anywhere over BD$1000.”
But why would anybody buy US$200/BD$1000 in food at any one time. Isn’t some of it going to spoil before an average family can finish it? Or aren’t you going to get tired of eating it and hanker for something new? or are you going to eat it all up and become obese?
Isn’t the U.S. leading the world in obesity?
And is that a good thing?
Some of you people like to discuss nonsense.
But why would anybody buy US$200/BD$1000 in food at any one time.
IT MAKES SENSE ESPECIALLY IF THERE ARE BOGO’S
Isn’t some of it going to spoil before an average family can finish it?
NO IT DOES NOT YOU CAN STORE IT. JUST LIKE MY PARENTS STORED YAMS UNDER THE CELLAR FOR A YEAR IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS
TODAY YOU CAN STORE CANNED GOODS RAMAN MAC AND CHEESE LENTILS OTHER TYPES OF PEAS AND ON AND ON AND ON
Or aren’t you going to get tired of eating it and hanker for something new?
NO YOU DONT IF YOU BUY A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT THINGS
or are you going to eat it all up and become obese?
NO YOU DONT HAVE TO DO THAT
ACTUALLY YOU LOOK AT CALORIE COUNTS AND BUY THE LOW CALORIE THINGS YOU LIKE
ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE
ITS COMMON SENSE
https://www.epa.gov/recycle/reducing-wasted-food-home
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency discusses waster food. And the EPA are pretty serious folks.
Reducing Wasted Food At Home
Most people don’t realize how much food they throw away every day — from uneaten leftovers to spoiled produce. About 94 percent of the food we throw away ends up in landfills or combustion facilities. In 2015, we disposed 37.6 million tons of food waste. By managing food sustainably and reducing waste, we can help businesses and consumers save money, provide a bridge in our communities for those who do not have enough to eat, and conserve resources for future generations.
THIS IS NOT NONSENSE DAVID
SOME FOLK CAN GET LOTS OF STUFF FOR VIRTUALLY NOTHING BY JUST USING COUPONS FROM THEIR SUNDAY PAPERS AND OTHER SOURCES
YOU CAN SEE THIS ON TV OFTEN
ITS LIKE A HOBBY OR OBSESSION FOR SOME
THEY BUY ALL SORTS OF HOUSEHOLD STUFF AND FOOD THAT WAY
It is nonsense comparing cost of living in the US to that of Barbados.
OK DAVID BUT ONE ALWAYS TENDS TO THINK OF COSTS IN TERMS OF WHAT YOU KNOW
SINCE I ONLY USED TO BUY BUILDING MATERIALS IN MY HEY DAY I CAN NOT, AND DO NOT REALLY DO THAT COST ANALYSIS
For an average family of 2 to 4 people, if we buy $1,000 worth of food at a time, almost certainly a good portion of it is going to waste. More is not necessarily better; that’s all I was trying to say.
Food waste per capita:
https://www.statista.com/statistics/933059/per-capita-food-waste-of-selected-countries/
And I disagree.
Remove the cars and then start talking.
Are you buying a TV every week?
I am in good health but I am on the exit ramp and am looking to retire to one of the Caribbean islands and not stay in the US.
And if as the headline say we are in for scary times, we had better learn how not to waste. We cannot afford to lust after the huge quantities of food that Americans can afford to buy and waste. But we need not go hungry either.
Not too many people on $24,000 a year are looking to buy a US $20,00 to $30,000 vehicle.
A person in Barbados can live much better on BDS $80K than a person in the US on US $24K.
Why do you think folks rush back to the Caribbean in their twilight years?
Because they can stretch a dollar further.
THE MAN SAID IN PERFECT ENGLISH THAT IF HE BOUGHT $200 US WORTH OF FOOD IT WOULD COSTS $1000 BDOS
IF WE BUY $200 US WORTH OF FOOD NOTHING GOES TO WASTE AND THE TWO OF US DONT EAT THAT MUCH
AND WE DONT CHECK ANY WEBSITES TO RATIONALIZE THESE FACTS
I have a small home and mortgage is paid off.
Land tax $11K
A teenage son who is a driver — Car innsurance (me, wife and son) $7K
Last year, I was working as a consultant and paid for my own health insurance…. Health insurance $27K
(Ran back to being an employee)
RE A person in Barbados can live much better on BDS $80K than a person in the US on US $24K.
Why do you think folks rush back to the Caribbean in their twilight years?
Because they can stretch a dollar further.
IS THIS STILL SO THEO?
ALSO THEO PLEASE NOTE THAT BDS $80K = MORE THAN US $24K. LOL
ALSO IT DEPENDS ON WHICH STATES YOU LIVE IN TOO
Could have gotten cheaper insurance, but the way things turned out, I was very glad that I had it..
But enough of me
Agree.
Agree.
But the original statement was that a person need $80K to match US $24K.
Saw this earlier today at work… I almost died

Not bad…
@TheOGazerts. March 8, 2019 8:07 PM “insurance $27K”
Is that $27,000 USD per year or health insurance for a family of 3?
I am glad too that you had it when needed.
But wow!!!
When is the U.S. going to move to a single payer system, like the Canadians have, or like the U.S. Congress has for itself?
Any moves in that direction?

You had the option of doing that because you started off with advantages which you have detailed here just recently. Your family was not poor. When people are desperate and do not have what you have e.g. financial stability and higher education they are forced to take what they get. Jesus did not state that the wages that the initial workers got were unfair. The idea was that the last workers were given a bonus because the employer felt like it. You berated me for taking passages out of context. Now I know you know that that was meant to counter the thinking of those who come early to repentance that they are being disadvantaged when those who come to Jesus late are rewarded with the same pardon. They receive their pardon. That is the ultimate gift something they do not really deserve. That is not unfair. Furthermore if somebody else receives the same gift it does not take away from the fact that they have received their ultimate gift. That is not unfair. AGAIN YOU ARE BEING DISINGENUOUS JUST TO WIN A POINT. I KNOW YOU KNOW THIS.
RE I do not see any Bible passage that speaks to the evils of ownership of capital by the state or the evils of reasonable
JESUS SAID WE SHOULD RENDER TO CAESAR I.E THE STATE WHAT WAS DUE
AND HE PAID THE TAXES
I knew you would quote that . I also knew it would prove my point. Looney Tunes thinks taxation is theft. Thank you.
ONE APPRECIATES YOUR ZEAL FOR THE POOR BUT JESUS SAID THAT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US AND WE STILL DO AND ALWAYS WILL
AND YOU CANT DO A THING BOUT UM EXCEPT RANT AND RAVE
I do more than rant and rave. I sometimes help them. So it seems, do you. Those who are poor do not always remain poor. Others slide into poverty and we can also help them. Therefore, though there will always be poor, a particular person does not have to spend his or entire life in poverty.
RE When I reached my destination it was determined that I need a man in my life.
THIS MAY BE TRUE. MAYBE THIS CAN NOT BE REFUTED EITHER.
The point was that because I made a legitimate request for the male driver to abide by the law, not endanger my life by driving me while whatsapping and because I refused to be intimidated by his threatening bulk and back down like a good little woman, I was branded as miserable or perhaps what you would label a “brawling woman”. It was therefore determined by people who do not even know me or whether I do have a man in my life that I needed to have one.
So….. I needed a man because then I would ignore sensible laws and allow my life to be endangered because a stupid man wanted to whatapp nonsense instead of keeping his eyes on the road.
My man…. when I finished he put the phone down and I was delivered to my destination with my life and limbs intact.
So…. I need a man to do what – to cow me into meekly accepting the stupidity of other men? My father just this hour put down the phone in my ear because I would not acknowledge the absolute honesty and integrity of the DLP leadership. It is not the first time. An ex of mine just a couple of hours ago lambasted me because I criticized this VAT write off proposal. I am still, it seems, partial to the DLP. He knows I voted Bee but says I did not cuss the DLP enough. Silly me, I thought it was the vote that counts. And you – you are here arguing like a minibus man, taking Bible verses out of context, same as you just accused me of doing. because you cannot concede a single point. You believe you know so much about the Bible and assume that I know so little that you can get away with that. That has been my experience with men. I am pretend to that GOD did mot give me a brain to accommodate your oversized egos.
And I need a man to do what?????????????????????????????????????? Force me to fake more orgasms????????????????????????????
As I told some people many years ago I got eleven men. They are the West Indies cricket team. I fired the old ones and I have hired some new ones. I will give them some time to prove they are worthy of my attention.. Otherwise I am like Donald Trump.
” You’re fired!”
And that goes for ALL MEN!
So I am not the kind of kiss ass woman that most men seem to require.
And for me it is better to live on a roof top than to live in a wide house with most of wunnuh hard headed, big headed egoists.
When I find a man who does not need to be right on EVERYTHING I will reconsider. In the meantime I am happier than I EVER was, looking forward to putting some big plans into action.
Hallelujah!
It has been acknowledged by many on this site that I am one of the few reasonable persons here. Seems I was born that way (Ironically my father told me so years ago.) That is what I have always aimed to be. That is what I want said in my eulogy and that is what I want placed on my tombstone.
Most of you people don’t care about anything but your own opinions. You come here to beat people into submission. But David can attest to the fact that just last week I REMINDED HIM of how I had made fun of his position and then had to eat my hat.
Ain’t nothing wrong with eating your hat. I eat mine when necessary. Without ketchup. I actually take pride in doing so! I feel so good when I do it. It proves I have achieved what i set out to do. I am what I want to be!
Hallelujah!
And just one more thing, GP,
That “ranting and raving” thing is a stereotypical gender based insult when a woman makes a point. Also the “you need a man in your life” thing . It is often said to women who actually have a man in their lives. It is the only insult that people with few word can find to tell women who can make them look like the idiots they are. It’s in the realm of “ya mudder”.
And another thing, we all know that we cannot stop at what Jesus said. We have to determine what Jesus meant. We have to put it in context. You said that. I did that for you. You ignored it.
You do it ONLY when it suits you. No wonder you like Donald Trump.

WHAT A RANT DONNA
I REPEAT Jesus GAVE A STORY THAT SUGGESTS THAT WORKERS TEND
TO GET WHAT THEY AGREE TO WORK FOR. THIS CAN NOT BE REFUTED
WORKERS CAN REFUSE TO WORK IF THEY DO NOT LIKE THE WAGES OFFERED AND STAY AT HOME. THIS CAN NOT BE REFUTED EITHER
RE Jesus did not state that the wages that the initial workers got were unfair.
HOW COULD HE. BECAUSE ACTUALLY THEY GOT THE GOING WAGE FOR A DAYS WORK, OR PART OF A DAYS WORK
HE IMPLIED THAT THEY AGREED TO THE WAGE AND THAT THEY WORKED!
RE The idea was that the last workers were given a bonus because the employer
felt like it.
JESUS DID NOT SAY THAT. THAT IS YOUR INTERPRETATION
READ THE TEXT.
ACTUALLY THE OWNER WAS GLAD TO GET THE WORKERS BECAUSE HE WANTED HIS CROP HARVESTED……HE WENT LOOKING FOR WORKERS
You berated me for taking passages out of context. YOU DO, AND YOU DID SO AGAIN THIS TIME
RE Now I know you know that that was meant to counter the thinking of those
who come early to repentance that they are being disadvantaged when those
who come to Jesus late are rewarded with the same pardon.
They receive their pardon. That is the ultimate gift something they do not really
deserve. That is not unfair. Furthermore if somebody else receives the same gift it does not take away from the fact that they have received their ultimate gift.
IS THAT WHAT YOUR RELIGIOUS TEACHERS TAUGHT YOU ABOUT THIS
TEXT? WHERE IN THE TEXT IS ANY OF THAT SAID.
RE I KNOW YOU KNOW THIS.
HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY KNOW WHAT I KNOW
I DO KNOW THAT THERE ARE FAR BETTER OPINIONS ON Matthew 20:1-16
HERE IS ONE THAT IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH WHAT OTHER BIBLE PASSAGES TEACH
This lengthy parable is found only in the gospel of Matthew. Jesus tells the Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16) in response to Peter’s question in Matthew 19:27: “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” Peter wanted to know what reward would be given to those who give up everything to follow Jesus. In response, Jesus explains this truth about the kingdom of heaven.
Planting, maintaining and harvesting vineyards in first-century Israel was strenuous work requiring hard physical labor in the heat of summer. Often, additional laborers were required to get all the work done. The owner of this particular vineyard went to the marketplace at the first hour of the morning (6:00 a.m.) to find workers for the day. His offered wage of one denarius, a Roman’s soldier’s pay for a day, was generous indeed. The workers in the first group were more than happy to work for the generous wage.
As the day progressed and more workers were hired, the specific wage was not mentioned, but the landowner promised to pay “whatever is right.” Apparently, the workers were sufficiently confident of the landowner’s character that they trusted him at his word. Altogether, four groups of workers were hired, the last group just one hour before the end of the day. When the time came for the wages to be paid, the first group of workers saw the last group being paid a denarius and were naturally thinking they would be paid more since they had worked the longest. Their anger against the landowner spilled forth when they saw they would all be paid the same, even though they got exactly what they had agreed upon when they were hired. The landowner was forced to defend his actions to the first group, even though he had dealt them in perfect fairness according to the contract.
The landowner, whose decision to pay all the workers the same was an act of mercy—not injustice—represents God, whose grace and mercy are shed abundantly upon those of His choosing. “For he says to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.’ It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy” (Romans 9:15-16). In the matter of salvation, His grace and mercy are given to those whose self-righteous works could never obtain it. We are all sinful and “fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), but His grace is sufficient to redeem all who believe. Whether God calls someone early or late in life to partake of His grace, the glory and praise for our salvation is His and His alone and in no way amounts to unfairness. Just as the landowner has a right to do what he wishes with his own money, so does God have the right to have mercy on whom He will have mercy.
The first group of workers in the vineyard resented receiving the same wage as the last group. Their attitude was similar to that of the Pharisees, who were incensed at Jesus’ teaching that others could inherit a heavenly kingdom they thought was reserved for them alone. They despised Jesus for offering the kingdom to poor, oppressed, weak sinners whom He made equal to them. In verse 15, the landowner asks, “Is your eye evil because I am good?” The “evil eye” was a Hebrew expression referring to jealousy and envy. God’s goodness and mercy produced in the self-righteous Pharisees the evil eye of envy. The rest of the workers received their wages without complaint or envy of others. In the same way, as Christians, we should rejoice when others come to the Savior, as we should rejoice in the service others render to Him. He is faithful to reward us for our service as He has promised, and how He rewards others should be of no consequence to us, nor should it affect our devotion to Him.
The message in verse 16, “the last will be first, and the first last,” is that no matter how long or how hard a believer works during his lifetime, the reward of eternal life will be the same given to all—an eternity of bliss in heaven in the presence of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43), whose life of service was limited to a moment of repentance and confession of faith in Christ, received the same reward of eternal life as the apostle Paul. Of course, Scripture also teaches that there are different rewards in heaven for different services, but the ultimate reward of eternal life will be achieved by all equally.

I don’t know how he could have been bored. His wife was sitting right beside him.
Damned shameless man.
Yeah I was working, could well afford to pay my own rent in full and on time.
My dear beloved parents, may they rest in peace, taught us never to be the sort of people who always put out our hands and say, “gimme, gimme”
@Facts Not Fiction March 8, 2019 6:03 PM “I can go to a major local grocery store and purchase US$200 or BD$400 in food including meats same in Barbados is going to cost anywhere over BD$1000.”
But I can walk into a polyclinic and a hospital and get health care without a cent.in my pocket. And I can go to UWI etc with a few hundred dollars in my pocket.
These things have to be factored into the cost of living.
As the old people say, “When ya seh A you have to say B.”
For the record, that was me.
Only you got sense! Everybody is an illiterate but GP. You know what they say about pride.
Enough of you for the day!
And I can take an afternoon nap on my verandah on any day of the year, from January 1, to December 31.
That must count for something
But I just read what you wrote and we are in agreement about the text. The wages were more than fair. It is what I said it was about. I have interpreted it just as you said. Why are you trying to show me how to come to the conclusion that I had already reached! SMH.
F YOU FAKE ORGASMS YOU ARE DECEITFUL!
JUST LIKE HOW YOU DECEITFULLY WREST THE SCRIPTURES
Now, when you have tried your best to tell a man what makes you tick and he thinks he knows your body better than you do (because he is the baddest lover) and you have much invested and his ego cannot take the truth you allow him to think you are satisfied just so you can get to bed. Hard -headed, pig-headed egoists. If you want to know about your sexual prowess you should visit the beauty salon in stealth and hear the women talking and laughing about what they have to do to get some much needed sleep. They love their husbands, have tried to educate them, have resigned themselves to sexual intimacy (mildly pleasant bonding) rather than fireworks so that they can keep an otherwise happy home. I recently read an article ‘ Why women accept mediocre sex.’ My salon buddies and I could have written that.
RE As I told some people many years ago I got eleven men.
SO YOU ARE LIKE THE WOMAN IN JOHN CHAPTER 4 THEN?
Where is the rest of what I wrote???????? You have deliberately taken it out of the context.. RE And for me it is better to live on a roof top than to live in a wide house with most of wunnuh hard headed, big headed egoists.
THERE YOU GO AGAIN MISINTERPRETING AND WRESTING THE SCRIPTURES!
I have not misinterpreted the scriptures. I have not said it is a Bible verse. I have not tried to attribute it to the Bible. What I have done is state how I feel about a situation. WTH??????
Are all the words in the Bible to be removed from our vocabulary?????? Are we not allowed to use them at all???
But it is still true whether Jesus said it or not,,,,
It is better to live on a roof top than to live in a wide house with wuhnuh hard headed, pig headed, egotists. I don’t need Jesus to tell me that. That is just common sense. You should try using some.
@ ManyPussy
You said and I quote
“…STOP THE PRESSES
Look wuh Mia gone and do
Hire the likes of Roy Morris a man accused of engaging in illicit activity with a minor…”
De grandson going do a Stoopid Cartoon to commemorate dat statement girl cause sometimes you does got gems among your usual crap
And before it get launch de ole man gine bet it hit 2,000 views in a week!!!
Notwithstanding your information about Roy Morris and purported drawing of a gun while coercing de minor into the act heheheheh (vot to be careful boasie) what do do really expect?
These two are the most ideally paired up persons in Bulbados!!!
I mean after all “a purported rapist COUPLED WITH, a purported clitoris biter-outer, that is a match made in hell, perfect perdition!!
One can be assured that they will both protect the public relations imagery for each other
A pederast and a pokey biter like a glove fitting a hand and a condom fitting a penis or in this case, a dildo
And now for the last word of a man who argues with you by stating the same point you made in different words…… Here’s GP!.
Insert applause here.
My God! A second Trump I tell you! Press secretary indeed! Fill the swamp! Now I know for sure that the picture is framed in gold and holding pride of place on the nightstand!
Who is going to listen and believe what that man says???????
I understand Dr Ronnie Yearwood is a bright young man. Can’t the prime minister find room for him in her big advisory tent? Or is he from the wrong side of the track?
if the VAT due is waived by the Government, t the amount waived should be repaid to the persons who paid it to Courts who should not be allowed to keep it. The Government waived the amount due to them, not the amount paid by the Purchasers.
If anyone knows how to contact Dr Ronnie Yearwood de ole man would love to get in contact with him
That is, of course, if he is , no longer a part of the Mugabe Regime
De Ole Man could mek he into the next Prime Minister of Barbados easy
Watch Muh Nuh!!!
@ Facts Not Fiction March 8, 2019 6:03 PM
Let’s talk about the reasons for the high prices. There are:
1) Excessive duties, taxes and other levies on imports to finance the many lazy bones on the island.
2) Barbadost is a very small market. Have you ever tried to fill a whole container with televisions? If it is only filled to 25% for Barbados, you pay the same transport costs as for a full container.
3) There is no functioning market in Barbados, only monopolies.
Or in other words: you have to be able to afford to live in Barbados! The ticket to paradise is expensive. Barbados is a premium island of the platinum class. The prices can’t be on the level of a continental state. Those who don’t like it can emigrate or don’t have to visit us. So the high prices keep the whole worldwide riffraff off our backs.
It’s a privilege to live in Barbados. If you tell people in New York, London, Zurich or Paris that you live in a small mansion in Barbados, everyone will envy you. Barbadians should really, really be proud of the country here. If it were everywhere like Barbados, there would have been no world wars, no genocide, no slavery and other atrocities. In this respect, the Barbadians are a thousand years ahead of the rest of the world in terms of civilisation.
DAMN RIGHT! If the businesses are not paying the VAT into the government as they were supposed to that is redistributing wealth most of it from the general population who could use it in these hard times. This is not money that was demanded from businesses by government. This was money demanded by government from us. We paid it. They should pay it. Most of them who took it are richer than we who paid it. This is redistributing wealth in the wrong direction. I say if paying it in total at once will sink the business, let them pay it in small instalments.
But let them pay it! We had to!
“I don’t know how he could have been bored. His wife was sitting right beside him.
Damned shameless man.”
you have the absolute scum of the earth in your parliament…and u know it, but still somewhat surprised that one sleaze will feel bored with his wife sitting right next to him..
This is an interesting read…
It’s more than just a single number. Some can get by on a dime; some require much more

TEXT
JOHN CHAPTER 12::8 the poor always ye have with you
Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,
5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.
CONTEXT
1 MARY SOUGHT TO HONOR THE LORD BY LAVISHING A POUND OF VERY EXPENSIVE OINTMENT ON HIS FEET
2 JUDAS ISCARIOT OBJECTED
3 HE THOUGHT THE MONEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN BETTER SPENT ON THE POOR
4 JESUS INTERRUPTED HIS OUTBURST VERSE BY EXPLAINING WHY MARY HAD PERFORMED THUS AND THEN HE GIVE THE LASTING AND ENDURING TRUTH THAT
“the poor always ye have with you”
IT HAD ALWAYS BEEN SO BEFORE JESUS CAME
IT WAS SO IN JESUS DAY
THE POOR REMAINS WITH US TODAY JUST AS JESUS SAID
WHETHER YA LIKE UM OR NOT, REGARDLESS TO THE REASON AND DESPITE WHATEVER RELIGIOUS TEACHERS MIGHT SAY
WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US REGARDLESS TO WHAT THE SCHOLARS AT, OR WHO ATTENDED SAY
WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US JUST LIKE THE ONES IN LOS ANGELES AND SAN FRANCISCO……………AND UM WILL GET WORSE IN CALIFORNIA TOO. AS MORE AND MORE ILLEGAL ALIENS SWARM INTO THAT BANKRUPT STATE
THE FAILURE OF BUSYNESS FOLK IN BIM TO PAY THE VAT OR TAXES MAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE THE NUMBERS OF POOR IN BARBADOS HELPING TO PROVE THAT JESUS WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT WHEN HE PREDICTED THAT …………….
WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH US
I HAVE RIGHTLY DIVIDED THE TEXT IN ITS CONTEXT

IT WAS SOLOMON NOT JESUS WHO OPINED THAT it is better to live on a roof top than to live in a wide house with A BRAWLING WOMAN.
YOU HAVE BOTH MISQUOTED AND MIS APPLIED THE TEXT AND GIVEN ME MUCH MIRTH IN THE PROCESS
THERE IS NO COMPARABLE TEXT ABOUT WOMEN LIVING on a roof top RATHER than to live in a wide house with most of wunnuh hard headed, big headed egoists.
BUT RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS LIKE YOU WHO WENT TO CODRINGTON TEND TO WREST THE SCRIPTURES AS PETER POINTED OUT IN 2 PETER 3
I ONLY TRYING TO STICK TO WUH THE WORD SAY
REMEMBER I AM ONLY A “SECOND”
@ GP “REMEMBER I AM ONLY A “SECOND”
Too true.
NOT PICKING TONIGHT?
GP HAVE YOU FOUND BUSH TEA .I HEARD HE WAS LAST SEEN OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE MAKING NICETIES TO YOUR WIFE
JUST SAYING

YOU HEARD WRONG
THEY DONT LET SCUM INTO THIS GATED COMMUNITY
A society where government ministers, judges, lawyers, DPP. police and every other scum in between at the top and at the bottom…believes that raping minors, small vulnerable children is quite normal.
“Roy Morris Rape Charge Disappears
Back on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, veteran journalist Roy Morris was charged with rape by the Royal Barbados Police Force. He was released on bail after appearing in court.
As BFP detailed in a series of articles, Morris had been on the run from the police while wanted for the alleged rape of a young 16 year old woman who may have been an intern at The Nation News.
Barbados Free Press and Barbados Underground broke the story over a month before Morris surrendered to police.”
@Georgie Porgie March 9, 2019 9:06 PM “NOT PICKING TONIGHT?”
Psalm 127: verse 2 “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.”
My loving heavenly Father who looks after me even while I am asleep, gave me a nice restful night. I went to sleep at 8:30 p.m. and woke up at 7:00 a.m.
Sweet!!!
Dr.Ronnie Yearwood is/was close to Owen Arthur. Many years ago he had a student attachment at the Prime Minister’s Office when Arthur was PM. I do not think Mia is too keen on him.
His mother Grace Yearwood works as a security officer with the Ministry of Defence & Security. She can be contacted through that department
@ Negroman
Does he have a “web presence”?
FACEBOOK etc?
De ole man would have to reach out to him as an anonymice.
But I do wonder about his current political affiliations since he was permitted to speak at length under Mackie at the Central Bank La Salle Room.
He has “gravitas” and would impress the people and attract the sheeple.
De ole man could mek he King as in Prime Minister or the Face of the Third Movement!
If you have a backdoor to him, put in a word for de ole man.
I would like to talk to him.
Let me get the grandson to mock up something for him and you can send that to him
A few moments please.

@Piece Uh De Rock Yeah Right March 11, 2019 12:52 PM “But I do wonder about his current political affiliations.”
Surely neither of you is thinking that an internship in a Prime Minister’s office, means that the stdent shares the Prime Minister’s political views.
What if Dr. Yearwood has NO political affiliation.
Is politics the only way, or even the best way to serve?
Stupsseee!!!
I would like to talk to him.
Ronny is a member of staff in my Faculty at Cave Hill…he can be reached by calling 417-4223 and asking for him. That is not his direct line
Let us, just for the sake of discussion present 20 handpicked men and women for this battle ahead of us.
Men and women with principles and vision…what would 2023 present to Barbados?
We as a people would have choices?
I know dat de ole man has wunna wondering about the number 20 but suffice it to say that de ole man has been shown that the “ARMY” to be chosen MUST NOT BE ALL 30 seats!! but 20
“…So Gideon brought the people down to the water, and the LORD said to him, “Separate those who lap the water with their tongues like a dog from those who kneel to drink.”
The Third Movement Party MUST HAND PICK EACH ONE OF THE 20

Few among us are watching!!
Imagine that we have a Leader of the Opposition, the Reverend Bishop Pastor Joseph Atherley and he is silent on the things that Caswell is speaking about!
Imagine that we have a so called Ombudsman and a Caricom Ambassador WHO IS A SO CALLED LAWYER, one David Come Sing a Song and both are silent IN FACT DAVID IS MUTE while you a Dean at UWI Cave Hill have to come here and prosecute matters that he is being paid for!!
Doesn’t that frighten you oh Luminary?

You figure that these people and the sheeple who read this really care?

Being close to Mia does NOT automatically make him a no go.
Why should it?
Is he attached to her fronts or her behind?
Is he a man?
Let de ole man do a little psychoanalysis on this man Dr. Ronnie Yearwood
Go to his Facebook pages.
He has 2, his business one which, unlike White Oaks and that of Charles Me Love You Long Time Jong, clearly states his record and stints/jobs
And, unlike Mia, he lists his leval certifications. Heheheheh
Then go to his personal page

Emphatically declaring that “Barbados is fully open for business” Prime Minister Mia Mottley this evening welcomed Dutch Caribbean hardware megastore Kooyman Holding International as it broke ground at Kendal Hill, Christ Church
https://barbadostoday.bb/2019/03/14/welcome-kooyman/
” “I’d like to congratulate Kooyman. I’d like to congratulate Massy for working with Kooyman ”

Another company that will import and sell.
When will we see another company export and sell.
Good point Hants. The last government heralded the arrival of Cost u Less now we have Koogman. Were there concessions?
Prime Minister Mottley stressed that for growth Barbados must open outward and cannot afford to be myopic or insular, therefore she called on local businesses not to feel intimidated or disheartened with this new addition.
+++++++++++++++++++
Au contraire, if we could extrapolate from the Canadian experience the local businesses have much to fear, the advent of the Home Depots, Lowes etc. saw the demise of many small operators. We have seen the closing of small Independent bookstores as larger chains invaded the market but Barbados may be different.
Got to admit that any additional business entity coming into Barbados can only promote more competition amongst the largesse. Can’t fault Rogue-Works for this move.
so what if one has a small business , how does a big company helps the small business person. . Furthermore this hardware store would use barbadians to purchase their products
in return buy and purchase their inventory from foreign entities
So how does this business help in bringing FX to the country, This is just another smoke and mirror plan /policy to juke the people in the eye by this govt
Btw no one has heard how much concessions was given for all knows that these companies before setting up shop in barbados look to govt for a hand out
So much for Transparency
Good argument, the same others used when your party allowed Cost-u-less to establish in Barbados.
Yes David and what you are trying to defend is what you and others crticize the past govt for
Anyhow your comment only bodes well to say that even when the blp in opposition was being critical of the Freundel Stuart govt they had no plans for correction and now as govt prefers to go a similar path as Stuart
What a dam shame if i were u i would not cover for Mottley
The comment was meant to expose your blind partisan positions. All DLP supporters have done is to flip the script. It is our curse. People like you will never cause change to occur.
Since u speak of change once again
Change which this govt used as a smoke and mirror plan to win the people confidence
Where is the change?
Now am i expected to endorse this govt runaway policy of the Same path and direction that has the country in a griplock of taxation
I happened to read OSA comments about Barbados being blacklisted by EU
“””””””””””
Taken from John Sobers fb page
The only person in Barbados that did not know that neither EU nor OECD has no jurisdiction over Barbados’ tax policy is mam. So that the recent tax conversion that saw the BLP reducing corporation tax from 30% to 5%, creating a $280 million shortfall in government’s revenue, was the biggest act political ignorance ever committed in Barbados.
Head of the Sir Arthur Lewis Foundation, Don Marshall was recently reported to have told the government that they are not obligated to carry out the request of EU nor OECD. But he has spoken too late as the government, quite unprepared for political office, had already signed off on the country’s demise of it’s tax structure.
Having committed that political folly the BLP, in an attempt to now close the revenue hole of $280 mill it created, will go to Parlaiment next Wednesday and further tax working class Barbadians, pensioners and the unemployed.
The BLP does not have a clue what it is doing. Only devine intervention can help Barbadians.
As I understand it, they have no jurisdiction but have committed to making life harder for us if we do not comply. It is their usual bullying. I have always been in favour of standing up to bullies. And showing up and shaming their bullying tactics.
Where is our new Shridath Ramphal?
@Donna
Yours is the understanding to be drawn from Don Marshall. The extent to which countries of the North are prepared to dictate tax policy. Also the opportunity for other offshore jurisdictions in the North to win the ear of these White lords to gain waivers.
OSA said he did not comply and it is not in our country best interest for OEC to tell us how to manage our taxes
Reason why barbados is being blacklisted

Finland: Government Collapses Over Universal Health Care Costs, #Bernie2020 Hardest Hit
“Similar problems are bedeviling Sweden and Denmark, two other countries frequently held up as models to follow on health care”
Finland has long been touted by American socialists as the socialist Nirvana, where everything is free and everyone is happy, happy, happy. Sadly, fiscal reality hit Finland’s government as it collapsed Friday due to the rising costs of its universal health care.
The warning signs were on the wall last spring when Finland, as Leslie noted, ended its experiment with “universal basic income.”
Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who has been hanging his socialist mantle on the “success” of Finland’s socialist structure, may be the hardest hit.
