The Barbados Economic Recovery Team is administering their bitter medicine in small doses.  They appear to have learnt from Guyana’s experience with the IMF, where the Guyanese politicians used a big spoon.  Since the result will be the same, it is less messy and less socially disruptive to slowly boil the frog.

But, why must the frog be boiled at all?  We do not.  But it is the only method that the Barbados Economic Recovery Team (BERT) understands or received their training, so they appear stubbornly unwilling to review any other solution.

There are no boundaries warning of danger that they will not cross, no promises so sacred that they will not break, and no cases deserving of compassion that they will not ignore.  Like the four horsemen of the apocalypse, they are pursuing a singular focus – severe austerity to all who are not at or near the trough.

We should not be surprised since this austerity was foreseen.  For the uninformed, first, they will reduce our salaries with high taxation.  Then they will reduce our savings by ensuring that our salaries cannot pay for our normal monthly expenses, so we will be forced to use our savings.

Then they will reduce our pensions through debt restructuring, which is a method of breaking sacred promises made to investors, including to our pensioners.  Then, they will facilitate the reduction in the asset value of our houses when homeowners are unable to pay their monthly mortgage payments and the banks foreclose, which will over-supply the housing market.

Finally, they will orchestrate the brain-drain of competent professionals from Barbados by exclusively rewarding their most incompetent and most partisan yardfowl supporters, and frustrating the most competent among us.  This makes the country’s local businesses internationally uncompetitive , which is the ultimate aim of international financiers who entice irresponsible short-sighted politicians to get their nations into unsustainable debts.

Our dollar does not need to devalue for us to arrive at the same place – which is the devaluation of our salaries, savings, pensions, assets, professionals, and local businesses.  We are just taking the scenic route down.

There have been several tour-guides employed along the way, to encourage us that our suffering is essential to Barbados’ economic recovery.  They have been dispatched to tell us that we must patriotically bear the pain, while they gorge on spillage as their masters feed.

Let me clarify that if severe austerity was the only path out of our economic problems, then I would join the partisan yardfowls, not at the trough, but in encouraging all Barbadians to bear the suffering for the sake of the next generation.  However, there are at least 4 non-austerity plans on the table.  Yet BERT is on a mission that will make us suffer, and they will neither be dissuaded by us, nor restrained by the BLP administration, from their singular purpose.

The last administration followed the same economic plan.  It was not called BERT, but multiple variations of a medium-term economic strategy that continually failed to meet its targets.  This time the plan is the same, but the actors are different.

Former Prime Minister Stuart gave the former Minister of Finance a long leash to inflict measured austerity.  The current Prime Minister has unleashed what seems like the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse to inflict severe austerity, and a rodeo clown to keep us distractedly entertained.

Thanks David, I was wearing out my thumb scrolling past all the Mariposa nonsense.

  3. Problem is…I don’t need a Met office to tell me that if the storm is delayed, so will the wind, rain, flooding and mudslides, but it is obvious none of them use common sense as an application in their daily routines and that includes Marshall and the whole government…

ya always have to spell everything out for them…

….if Kirk was expected at 11 am and there was no sight of him and his deadly conditions until 7or 8 at night, it does not mean he went away, it means his deadly conditions will manifest later in the night as opposed to 11am during the day when ya can actually see what’s going on around you and not be drowned while fast asleep in your bed from 5 feet of water..in the middle of the night.

  4. OR…drowned while trying to return home from a late shift…or stuck in the middle of a flood, like that police car.

  5. Also one would take into consideration when making decision for the workforce
Conditions that can have an adverse effect for employees working in the hotel industry on the coast line
Conditions brought on by storm surge whereby govt would have issued a warning to the effect for those employees not to work

  6. All employees should expect to be and embrace being treated by their employers as they in turn treat or would treat anyone employed by them to work in their homes.

  7. The govt was insensitive and uncaring
The PR song and dance did provide more of that side
Most of their comments miss the mark
A mark which would have provided safe and security for the populace in the face of an iimpending storm

  8. In the name if fair abd balance David i waiting to see u put post showing the damage done by flooding to homes and streets

  9. Total madness telling people it is ok to go to work after a storm floods the entire island
Total madness.is this the kind of governance to be expected for the next five years
    Msdness total madness

  10. Kirk was just beyond your imagination.

” Acting Prime Minister Dale Marshall, Home Affairs Minister Edmund Hinkson and other senior Government officials have started a tour of areas hard hit by last night’s heavy rains and gusty winds.”

” Some Barbadians woke up to power outages and downed power lines this morning, following the heavy rains and winds associated with the passage of Tropical Storm Kirk.”

” There were reports of power outages in some communities in the parishes of St George, St James, St Philip and fallen poles in parts of St Andrew, Christ Church and St Philip.”

  11. WARU
Muh intellect limited but I knew Roleric Hinds was a candidate and not the MP for St.Thomas.

  12. Yeah…but ya did not know the difference between Bitcions which were marketed for a whole year by shady Abed of Bitt Inc…and mmoney ….which was never marketed though…neither you, Rawdon nor the Bitt people knew the difference, but want Bajans to use the service…think about that…lol

  13. Enuff yardfowl…let me break it down for ya..

Bitcoin = marketed for a whole year by Bitt Inc..using the then central bank governor, in newspapers, online, contacting professionals directly, the whole 9 yards…

mMoney = never marketed to the public in the same way, a real big secret by Bitt Inc….then they tell ya on radio no less…mMoney is not digital, not Bitcoin, not this not that…cause they never marketed it…

So who is the idiot…certainly not the people who knew that they were hearing only about Bitcoins from Bitt Inc…for a whole damn year…

Ah still waiting for you to explain that one …..oh yardfowl..

  14. It takes a special kind of patience to deal with some here.

  15. A takes a maniac imagination not to understands the dangers that lies beneath the aftermath of a stirm
Only a nutcase will set policies in place that would continue to out their citizenry in harms way
Dale Marshall should be awarded a medal for Stupidity at the highest level
His name should also be used by Webster dictionary as the meaning of stupid

  16. The videos across social media speaks volumes of a dire situation and the dangers lurking beneath powerlines down in the water
Yet this bald faced ignoramus thought it best to expect people to go to work knowning full well the hell some employees might have received from their employers if they did not show up
Good God Marshall where is your heart

  17. Why is this still happening at the Magistrate’s Court level….Enuff…check and see what needs fixing..ay the Supreme AND Magistrate’s Court….it is a disgrace, a curse, a blight on the island’s landscape…yall can’t blame the last lazy, do nothing government when this is still going on under the Mia government, this is being talked about from coast to coast..

“Sir this is too long . . . and for the prosecutor to come back today and ask for another adjournment,” the accused stated, even as he claimed that the prosecution and the police were “buying time” by keeping him at the St Philip penal institution.

The magistrate then questioned the prosecution on the whereabouts of the file.

Sergeant Rudy Pilgrim explained that the initial investigating officer had since left the Royal Barbados Police Force, while the backup officer had passed the file on to another high-ranking officer who had since died.

“There is a file but it has to be resurrected,” Pilgrim submitted and made it clear that “there is nothing sinister from this side pertaining to the accused”.

That did not sit well with Forde who argued that the shackles and manacles should be taken off him as a result.

“Literally, the file missing . . . so that means I should be going through that door this morning because they have not the foggiest idea where that file is. I rest my case,” Forde said.

Frederick also took the prosecution to task on the delay of producing a file on the capital offence.

  18. Kirk would be the next excuse to put more taxes in wunna backside
    Watch she now

  19. Worth repeating for those who do not get the outright idiocy that takes place at the Supreme AND Magistrates Courts..it makes no sense to me, never will, although I have been hearing about it for years…but it makes complete and utter sense to the police prosecutor, and those Magistrates and Judges who allow it to happen and continue for years on end….an outright violation of human rights…so if any police associated with any case, leaves the force, dies or pass your file on to any other officer, your dog and ya file also dies..

“The magistrate then questioned the prosecution on the whereabouts of the file.

Sergeant Rudy Pilgrim explained that the initial investigating officer had since left the Royal Barbados Police Force, while the backup officer had passed the file on to another high-ranking officer who had since died.”

  20. lol…murdahhh!!!

I am only laughing while I search diligently for a way to upend these complete jackasses who destroyed a whole Supreme Court maliciously…the Barbados court system is in utter freaking RUINS, don’t even know if it can be salvaged……as seen by this exchange between Magistrate and Police Prosecutor.

  21. @Grenville
I thought this was a great job on your part,
This is the first time that I felt you warmed to the subject and was not cold and dispassionate.
Some here be negative no matter what you say. Some will be negative if you are not complimentary of the great leader.
Ignore them and stick to the task at hand.
    Great job.

    TheO

  22. @ Theophillus

    For shame, for shame!

You really mean that you have in so few words given an endorsement to this balderdash by GP for again speaking to what the current state of affairs is, as is his usual want, and not providing any solutions at all?

You are a man with many staff below you, one who is accustomed to evaluating staff yearly.

If GP was working for you, would he have been given a passing evaluation based on this lukewarm presentation?

Looka, you are a man of principles and whom I know will not touch the wacky tabaccy prior to, during or after the 17th of October but i may need to examine what you have been imbibing heheheheheh

  23. Dale Marshall might soon be making a name for himself at the UN
Already a household name caught up in allege illegal activity
Soon the name Dale Marshall would be mentioned across the lips of UN members in a not so nice way
The way Dale and his side kick is making a nane for themselves it wont be long before there name would be forever etched in the minds of people as persons who were exceptional at doing Wrong

  24. It is apparently clear that the duffus Dale Marshall does not u
understand the dangers of a weather system when it arrives at night
I suggest he watch a video of Katrina and see how flood waters trapped and endagers people lives who took home for safety

  25. As expected the sewer plant would failed completly from the torrential down pour
Also as expected more sh it would be pumped in the swamp and out to sea
Last night lambasting of the plant by Mother Nature should have sent a message to the powers now in control
A message that Mother Nature would not stand idly as wicked forces destroy all of natures species that used the swamp for daily existence and the ocean as refuge
If powers in control refuses to listen Mother Natures only option would be that of more destruction to the island
A couple months ago Mariposa made mention of similar circumstances occuring in and around the cirridor of the sewer plant mentioning glooding in that area
Never thought it would hapoen so soon
    Yet the worst to come

  26. @Mariposa September 28, 2018 5:57 PM “Only a nutcase will set policies in place that would continue to out their citizenry in harms way.”

Look Mariposa, the babies and all those under 18 were permitted to remain at home.

We the adults, the big people, the grown-ups, do not need to have our hands held by any politician “B” nor “D”

  27. Btw what happen to John2 who wanted to put me to sleep
Lol it seems that Kirk put his backside to a final resting place maybe taking him on a ride on the front end of kirk
Hello John2 enjoy your front end ride might be better than what Dale Marshall and the rest of the circus clowns have in store for the country

  28. Actually Simple simon
I am enjoying conversing all by myself
Dont have to endure the torture of you and other butt licking blp supporters who thinks that people safety is of lesser importance than employers having them report for worker
If i were you like PTL says he does scrolled by

  29. Look at this and to think this dumb a.ss took to the airwaves advising people to go to work
He got to be a f..ing madman
Now how can his madness be explained after watching this video
    Simply in one word Insanity

  30. A former Canadian whistleblower cop who was on a team to investigate and charge corrupt cops, explains to Jimmy Dore on the Jimmy Dore show the difficulties involved in going after corrupt individuals in influential fields like policing, the law, politics etc.

But here is a shocker. After he left policing and was involved in business he says he tried to sue some people in Barbados that owed him money through the Barbados courts. He says one of the people he was suing was the Chief Justice of Barbados, but it was apparent to him that the Barbados court system was corrupt and he would not get a fair hearing by attempting to pursue the case in Barbados. He then tried to get the case heard in a Canadian court and explains how he was set up by corrupt lawyers and a corrupt judge in Canada and spent 3 months in prison in Canada as a result. So he doesn’t hold off accusing Canadian lawyers and judges of corruption. The part where he talks about the Barbados corruption starts at 11:25.

  31. Go bed.
The cloud that drenched Barbados was still at the back end. Kirk wasn’t stalled or delayed and was out in the Caribbean sea this morning but you wouldn’t understand that
You aint have nothing better to do but to be on the computer all day for two days. some of us went to work.

  32. @ GreenMonkey

This is another excellent find as it relates to whistleblowers and what they can expect.

First of all, I’d hope that the UK ladies Jackie and Glenda who are prosecuting the matter of estate tampering against Teets and Pain to look at this video and to see the format of the presentations as well as the “focused responses” that Donald Best provides.

You watch the video from beginning to the end and this is what the grandson would like to “wrap your story” around.

Secondly it gives sleeping sheeple euphemism for bajans, a true glimpse of what the real deal is regarding this cabal that is so called justice in barbados.

And, that when de ole man comes here and talks about ssh tunnelling and back door tools that this is not “aluminum foil around the head” talking like Enuff of Lorenzo duo loves to announce, but the fact that people will do anything to reach into your computer. (Always remember the Trojan Horse)

I don’t really care who gets offended by my stance about this.

IF THE SHY$# is wrong and de ole man got to comment on it being wrong ONLY GOD CAN INSTRUCT ME TO CEASE FROM MAKING THAT PRONOUNCEMENT.

There come a point in some of our lives that life, without doing the correct thing, is just a shadow of being.

The thing that these criminals need to recognise is that technology and the United States Secret Service is now on the side of the “small man” so some of us have the ability to “fight back”.

    Keep on trucking.

  33. “Last fall, Justice Susan Healey dismissed the various actions brought by Best, saying they were without a “scintilla of merit” and that it was the most “vexatious and abusive” claim ever to come before her. In October, Healey found Slansky liable for $84,000 in costs.”

    National Post June 21, 2016

  34. GreenMonkey…great video..

Exposure never fails…particularly exposing lawyers, Judges, Chiefs Justice and politicians worldwide, the whole dirty bunch, , that is the only language they understand, but if you suffer in silence, they get away with it with no conscience, they act like it is an entitlement, never let them get away with.their corruption and criminality…against the same taxpayers who educated their hungry asses AND who pay their salaries, scum of the earth they all are…

…just look at the rancid state of Barbados, well known for having a corrupt Judiciary, corrupt government ministers, corrupt lawyers, corrupt former Chief Justice…that stain will remain for decades.

….I actually met people in Canada who spoke about the nastiness of former CJ Simmons and all the greedy, tiefing lawyers, it is only recently the briebtaking by Judges to destroy the lives of those accessing the Supreme Court seeking justice has been made more public…..but the Judges should be fully exposed for their crimes against the people also..while sucking on taxpayers dollars every month AND taking bribes.

  35. Enuff yardfowl…ah birdie gave me some info last night…my birdies are always in the know..

is it true that Rawdone…that is Piece’s spelling..and the mMoney crowd at Bitt Inc plan to reintroduce their marketed (for a whole year) Bitcoin that never got off the ground to hoodwink Bajans and Caribbean people…AFTER the mMoney scam, which may also NEVER get off the ground cause Bajans are not totally stupid, proof is last election, to allow themselves to be scammed. AGAIN…Clico and the last train wreck for a government are all still too fresh in their minds….

….ah hear the plan is to use a flurry of LIES to reintroduce Bitcoin…but that is very unlikely with the COCKUP that mMoney has now become… with that DISASTER of an introduction on VOB by Rawdone and the clown Stephens….because they all FORGOT to market mMoney, they ran outta time and thought Bajans were still gullible enough to accept anything just so and spend their money just so to enrich a band of shady people just so, without asking any questions…….lol

AND…does that mMoney/Bitcoin scam scam have anything to do with the threat of devaluation…enquiring minds want to know.

Just to refresh ya memory cause ya may have forgotten, ya know, the 15 second attention span and all.

Enuff yardfowl…let me break it down for ya..

Bitcoin = marketed for a whole year by Bitt Inc..using the then dummy for a central bank governor, in newspapers, online, contacting professionals directly, the whole 9 yards…

mMoney = never marketed to the public in the same way, a real big secret by Bitt Inc….then they tell ya on radio no less…mMoney is not digital, not Bitcoin, not this not that…cause they never marketed it…

So who is the idiot…certainly not the people who knew that they were hearing only about Bitcoins from Bitt Inc…for a whole damn year…

Ah still waiting for you to explain that one …..oh yardfowl.

  36. WARU aka Abigail
Would this be the same birdie that told you Roleric Hinds was the MP for St.Thomas?🤣🤣🤣

  37. No Enuff yardfowl…another one..

Ah guess you have been left out of the loop again…and only on BU pretending to know the inner sanctum sanctorum of Mia’s government and the criminals in the business community who control it….trying to fool us on BU into believing you know what is really going on…but ya really DON’T..

And they don’t even have the decency to tell ya anything, maybe they do not consider you much of anything, the blight of yardfowls everywhere..

..we are witnessing the rise of another BU ac, this time BLP..hmmm, hmmm, hmmm..this is going to be sooooo interesting….so much fodder, don’t yet know where to start.

  38. I watched painfully as duffus Dale Marshall visit the flood torn areas
I listened to the stories of people trapped in their homes and how the fear that gripped them as the water made entry rising to high levels
All i could ask of myself was why did these people have to go through such an horrific ordeal
Govt. Lead from the front… one would have expected that knowing from past experiences where these area are susceptible to flooding govt would have issued evacuation orders for these areas earlier with in a 24hr period requesting people to seek places for their own safety along with opening up shelters for their use
Not Barbados govt (rather than) advises people to go to work
    Wel well Well
Then we asked why is Barbados refered as a Banana Republic the events of the last 36 hrs tells why

  39. You have made the same point 40 times, move on.

  40. WARU
Again telling lies! When have I ever pretended to be part of the inner sanctum of the government? In contrast, I have consistently made it clear that I am not in Bay Street, Roebuck St, a paid blogger, operative or member. Few weeks ago you accused me of pretending to be a lawyer; one of your cohorts before that said I was a minister. Do you notice a trend? When cornered, the response seems to be to resort to lying. I will close by simplifying my repetitive reference to RHinds–after that massive faux pas, which you vehemently defended, you have no RH credibility. When you say jump I crawl. Rest muh!#personanongrata🚫⛔

  41. The Mariposas on BU are desperate for a story; therefore, they will make numerous posts on the same topic hoping that their comments resonate with people who read the blog. So far the tactic has fallen flat. Four months into a 5-year term and the redwashitis still giving dem bad feels. The pharmacies soon run outta smelling salts.😂

  42. Snakes can only crawl my yardfowl friend…but..

“In contrast, I have consistently made it clear that I am not in Bay Street.”

you say that…then will come back later or another day and not only pretend to be a lawyer, but also pretend to be a minister and when that fails, pretend to be in the inner sanctum sanctorum of the Mia government…but we all know different now don’t we…then ya will cuss anyone on BU who does not agree with the crap the government continues to spew while doing absolutely nothing to stop corruption, ripping off taxpayers, stop dishonest, corrupt, thieving layers and ministers or making any notable changes at the Supreme Court OR stopping the corruption at the Supreme Court to benefit those seeking Justice as taxpayers and as is their RIGHT..

As I said..yardfowls are not looked kindly on by anyone, not even their political masters..

you stay there and think somebody cares who you think is credible or not…the outcome is what matters…

    eg:

    30-0….May 24, 2018…history making

    29-0….???????, 2023……history making.

  43. christ Enuff…even before I could finish post my comment ya already started up…I rest my case..

  44. @enuff

You do the same by responding. Over the years like many of us, you were not a fan of the former government, this is your right. The blogmaster has been similarly accused, this is the hazard of public debate in a politically polarized environment. Try to attack the issues and leave the other stuff at the door.

  45. Ah even forgot to mention that the Mia government is yet to ARREST any of the DLP thieves who colluded with the minority criminals to rip off the Treasury and Pension fund…OR even make any attempt to recover the hundreds of millions of dollars STOLEN by her friends in the DLP and minority business community…

    how bout that one..

ah really think ya fell on ya head as a child, no one can be that naturally ditzy…unless ya are a blonde and ah know ya not blonde..they are the only people who are naturally dumb..

  46. Yes David and i will continue to make the same point/s while showing the foolish nature of this govt which caused catastrophic fear and pain to people due in part to govt having no immediate and thoughtful preplan to assist those living in prone flood area as kirk arrived on barbados shores
    So there you have it
Kirk is govt there’s to own
