The case of the man who travelled from Liberia to Texas, United States and had to visit the hospital twice before the geography challenged hospital workers were able to connect the dots, has exposed the readiness of the US healthcare system to mobilize under an Ebola threat. It took days before those who lived in a modest apartment with the Ebola patient got their room sanitized by US authorities. Now that Ebola has entered the White man’s world we intend to observe how the developed world mobilizes against Ebola. The real challenge remains at the source, West AFRICA!
The biggest joke of the week though is acting minister of health Donville Inniss trivializing concerns about Barbados preparedness from head of BAMP Dr. Carlos Chase.

Smooth chocolate ..you are right I believe this man knew exactly what he was doing when he lied on those forms. When America eventually does not accept air traffic from his country and others in the area it will be because of people like him. The cost even for this one mans care and tracking must be staggering, I was on the front lines of SARS as a first responder years ago and all I can tell you we were behind the curve in our methods of protection from the get go. Barbados has too much to risk, it is no time to be politically correct, start training now ,have a place set up at the airport to isolate suspected carriers, train staff to target problem country nationals remember it is not only planes that come to your shores. Send some of your medical staff to be properly trained in handling patients because if you do get something no-one is coming they are busy somewhere else.
In Nigeria it was stopped because it was in the rich community, if it had happened in the villages they woudnt have been so lucky, so don’t believe the govt can stop this crap, everyone has to play a part don’t be behind the curve.
Lawson are a doctor?
I have tried to inform the some here that the first line of prevention against transmissible diseases is proper hand-washing, which it part and parcel of the Universal Precautions precedures. Even when the disease is airborne these principles still applies.
on the issue of depopulation here is a statement that might peek interest on such an agenda and how the relationship to man made viruses,
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………The Depopulation Agenda
There can be no doubt that the global elite has a depopulation agenda. They have stated it clearly. From the Georgia Guidestones “MAINTAIN HUMANITY UNDER 500,000,000” to the famous statement made by Bill Gates “The world today has 6.8 billion people. That’s heading up to about nine billion. Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent!” to the various UN agencies that developed Agenda 21 and are dealing with population ‘management’ and the statement by one of the elite’s foremost ‘thinkers’ Brzezinski saying in 2009 “…in early times, it was easier to control a million people, literally it was easier to control a million people than physically to kill a million people. Today, it is infinitely easier to kill a million people than to control a million people. It is easier to kill than to control….”. We see that it is openly discussed how to go about the business of killing billions of humans and depopulate the planet. (emphasis added)
I agree with AC … if the rich didn’t make those rat ass monkeys look so good, that everyone wants to eat one …nobody would get ebola
The possibility of the spreading of the Ebola virus to Barbados, and the substantial death and destruction that it has been bringing to Liberia, Guinea, etc means that this very lethal virus itself must be seen – at this stage – by most adults, in Barbados, as the No 1 national security issue for this country.
The threat that this gruesome virus poses to Barbados must no longer be viewed by some persons living here in this country as a dangerous threat to the health and sanitation of this country, but must be more than ever seen by these same persons – God forbid that it were to ever come here – as capable of wiping out many local residents and families, destroying many residential and national communities, decimating many business districts, devastating and disrupting much social interaction and internal travel, and diminishing general order, security and stability in this very small island of 166 square miles.
Too, the very chilling and graphic story and images in yesterday’s Saturday Sun, October 4, 2014, of some of the ravages of the Ebola virus in Liberia, must not be viewed by many local residents as elements of something next to a drama movie.
For, too many Barbadians that we have been talking with about it, seem to be taking this disease lightly.
It seems too that the police, soldiers, customs, immigration, DEMA, security guards in government – parts of the national security apparatus of this country – have not even had any formal meetings together to look at the dangers of this disease and how to help protect themselves and citizens in any likelihood of its bearing down on Barbados.
Worst is that there is clearly no nation plan of action to be activated across the country – were it to be brought here – by the government.
The very slow, tardy and tepid response of this government and by extension the entire parliament of Barbados to the great threat this disease poses to our entire country might – we in the PDC dare say – have a lot to do with how, on one hand, the members of this government and parliament view Africa as a whole: as a region of much social backwardness and underdevelopment, and with how, on the other hand, they view Europe and North America as a whole : as regions of much social advancement and development.
So, on one hand, as these members might be clearly of the strong belief that had Liberia, Seirre Leone, Guinea, etc had proper medical facilities and effective disease prevention and control techniques in West Africa – the disease would have been far less destructive than now, they are, on the other hand, thinking that United Kingdom, US, Canada, France generally have better medical facilities and more effective disease prevention and control techniques than the whole of Sub-Sahara Africa – as some of them call it, so therefore the disease would not be as destructive in Europe and North America, as it has been so far in Africa.
So, it is clearly seen by the PDC that those persons in the government and the wider parliament of Barbados are still informed by this neo-colonial dependency world view, wherefore they are waiting and seeing how Europe and North America are affected by it, and how their governments and establishments respond to it in Africa and in Europe and North America, and depending on the extent and quality of such actions and omissions by the Europeans and North Americans, they would fashion their statements and actions to suit anything they have to instruct or do here in Barbados re the Ebola disease.
That is why the reported comments of Dr Chase about Barbados being totally unprepared for the onset of the virus here in Barbados rings aloud and pierces the same prejudiced views that the same government and by extension the same other members of parliament might have of the inadequacies of the treatment facilities and conditions in Western Africa.
What the goodly doctor has reportedly said too about the Ministry of Health (see the same Weekend Nation newspaper story by Maria Bradshaw) hurts the government and some within the medical fraternity in the country, mainly because what he criticizes them over basically puts us in Barbados on par with the lack of proper effective precautionary, anticipatory and treatment measures in West Africa. In such cases, such persons fear comparisons with Africa.
And that is why too their very prejudiced views have been further damaged with their observing that in same US – closer to home here in Barbados – the situation has existed there in the state of Texas, where Eric Duncan – an Ebola victim – went undiagnosed and untreated for some while for the said virus after visiting a Texas hospital with symptoms of it.
So in concluding many of us here in this country must at this stage reach such a heightened level of awareness and consciousness of this disease and its baleful ramifications, that – with or without a national plan of action by the government or parliament – we must resolve that almost every Barbadian here in this country must take serious action against this very dangerous ominous macabre threat that this very deadly disease poses to our well being development here in this island.
PDC
AC, out of the two hundred odd countires in our world today, more than haft of the world’s population lives in Asia. Even though Family Planing was introduced to China and India in the 1960’s, these two enormous populations continues to steadily increasing. And increases human population could only mean good things for our existing human civilization.
dompey here is another view on how the virus can be spread Truth or fear mongering YOU decide.
PDC well said but I have to disagree with…ebola victim…..I believe an ebola narcist this man lied on his forms with total disregard for his friends and family and anyone else because of his own selfishness. Like typhoid mary some will have to suffer for the common good. America and other countries should shut their borders to people from these countries unless they are citizens until we get a grip on this problem. Forget ISIS this is a much bigger problem we can nuke raqqa any day of the week.
So Laws on because Duncan lied on his immigration from does it exempt the hospital nurse from getting right doing the triad? A man enters the ER with sweats indicated he has arrived from Liberia recently and you packed him to home with antibiotics? We are treating with two issues here, surely you can discern? And the hospital has admitted publicly they got it wrong with Duncan
Lawson, that’s water under bridge, as the saying goes.
Lawson, you keep on belaboring the point as though it changes the potential health threat this man’s condition poses to the Caribbean.
it is always easy to assess and reassessed after the fact…. the triage nurses duty is to take vital signs then pass it on to the doctors or nurses handling the patient which by all accounts were not out of the norm or sufficient to cause an “alarm : the patient history of lying could have been repeated on his admittance form giving the nurse or doctor false information which lead to him being sent home with out need for further observation or one of dire concern, it is always easy to place blame.but knowing all the facts are necessary before forming a profound conclusion
To repeat, the hospital has PUBLICLY admitted they got the triad wrong read they encountered an interoperability problem. Even In the face of a fact some of you have to dispute. What it does is to reinforce why some if you have lost all credibility on the forum.

Domphey quit being so myopic its not the man it is the attitude…that I see in Africa all to often it is everyman for himself and oh yea me first. .
Why it is is it a black white issue
rumour ebola vaccine did not working with melanin were deemed false
@PDC “had Liberia, Seirre Leone, Guinea, etc had proper medical facilities and effective disease prevention and control techniques in West Africa – the disease would have been far less destructive than now”
Dear PDC: It is impossible to have good medical facilities unless thare is effective tax collection..and yet yu don’t believe in taxes.
The QEH was built by taxes, and is run with OUR tax money
the polyclinics were built with OUR tax money, and are run with our tax money
The doctors, nurses, and lab technicians were all trained with our tax money
Lawson i agree with your points. trying to suppress a lie and this man desperation to be treated might have lead to numerous other people being infected, the man in question giving his history of lying was thinking only about self, another point to be taken into consideration is the fact that he did not seek a way of isolation but co-habitated and lived in an apartment complex submerged among people ,At this point one does not have to be a rock scientist to understand that this man was a selfish bastard not caring about others also another point to consider that after arriving in america he could have contacted several heath institution namely the CDC and informed them of his situation, this man is actually a bio .terrorist and should if he survived have to face a court of law for forcefully activating criminal actions against citizenry .
the nurses did their job and also was put in high risk because of this selfish boldfaced LIAR.
@Lawson
What part of the hospital admitting it overlooked Duncan’s travel from Liberia you don’t understand?

Bear in mind Ebola up to now was contained in the rural less travelled areas, now it has skipped to the city area which spells a bigger threat for the world. It is why the US has committed to send troops to the infected zone to help with managing logistics.

So how come there are in excess of 7 billion humans on poor Mother Earth? How did they get here? Are they being manufactured on the production lines marked ‘made in China ‘and exported across the globe.
Tell that to the nasty Bajan men and women who visit the Bush Hill area and the various lovers’ lane parking spots.
I doubt there are more than a million bonobos on this planet who can “out-sex” their human cousins who in turn outnumber their bonobo relatives by the billions.

A listen from about 12 min on the video shows what an investigative media is capable of to bring info to the public.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kOIVOT3-ucU
The hospital administrator is trying to couch his language in diplomatic speak but underlying his message is that the clinical team who made the diagnosis did not factor all the info received prompted by the triad checklist.
Is it true that PLANTATION DEEDS is blocked from posting ? and KGB of the CUP.? Ebola seems to be moving very dast.
the triage had limited information on the hereabouts of this man,he did state that he had traveled to Africa for about four weeks ,however he omitted the obvious and most crucial information that he was in contact with persons/people who had the virus critical information for the treament and prevention of others from contracting the disease, The Fact is that everybody coming from Africa that becomes sick cannot be treated as Ebola patients and isolated The necessary information must be given by the patient for necessary treament
. Unless govt regulations permits hospital to isolate persons from the African continent coming to hospitals with a fever as at high risk of EBola ,the hospital would have to rely heavily on the patient for all information.
this patient knew that he was at high risk and deliberately with hold critical information. Even the Fact of the hospital knowing that he was from Africa his vital signs did not give any real hint that he had Ebola was low especially ,
This is a lesson which can be learned ,however in the weeks and months ahead a real concern for the govt and which might lead to a rallying out cry is that a red flag must be attached to these countries and method and way forward in regards to immigration might be necessary to isolate this virus ,hard questions which in fact might be politicized
Google is a useful search engine, to those interested in truth and not BS visit the CDC website who has circulated an updated checklist to be used by US hospitals as part of the triad process. Of interest is the item which requires all hospitals to inquire of patients their travel itinerary in the last 21 days. can anyone advise if a patient answers yes to the question have you visited the following countries in Africa what is reasonably expected to be the response?
David; Re. your 10:49 am post.
The knee jerk answer is that the typical patient will lie if they have indeed visited one or more of those countries. But indeed, is this necessarily so? Consider that the typical patient who would be going to a hospital would be showing some symptoms and be scared for his / her life and, like the Liberian guy, desperately wants to be diagnosed and treated in a hospital setting. I suspect that only a few would lie and take the chance that they would not be admitted.

The plan to wipe out Africans was made long time ago.
Quote from Henry Kissinger:
“Depopulation should be the highest priority of foreign policy towards the third world, because the US economy will require large and increasing amounts of minerals from abroad, especially from less developed countries.”

National Security Memo 200, dated April 24, 1974.
Which continent has plenty minerals/ resources? Africa.
“Now that Ebola has entered the White man’s world….”
***********************************************************************************************The White man’s world is not immune to viruses and diseases; for instance, between 1347 and 1350 one third of all Europeans died from the Bubonic Plague (also known as ‘The Black Death’ for the way it discoloured the body). And it had nothing, whatsoever, to do with Africa.
And don’t forget that it was European diseases that wiped out most of the natives from the New World.
the question that he wanted to be treated for the virus is speculative ,as from all indication he did not show any any signs of having the virus prior to leaving liberia .it is only after his arrival in america that he seek treatment and was told he had a low grade fever ,further information on his part should have been forth coming.

you are making perfect sense in your “TRIAD”
I ALSO suspect that only a few would lie and take the chance that they would not be admitted AFTER TRIAGE.
WHEREAS ONE EXPECTS THE PATIENT TO TELL THE TRUTH ONE OFTEN MAKES A DIAGNOSIS ON SUSPICION…………….AND ONE’S KNOWLEDGE.

And when we look at the 6th photo down under the caption “Officers hand out face masks…………..etc etc ” in the Daily MAIL
We see officers with possibly contaminated gloves handling the bare face masks . The individual masks, when this photo is blown up, do not appear to be protected in a sealed container.
Looks like, not only Barbados is not ready, but also the great USA.
@are-we-there-yet
The reason why BU has stressed the checklist in a post Ebola world is the reason why the CDC revamped the triad checklist:
Here is a pertinent point:
What the layman in the BU household deduced from the above is that in this case Duncan indicated on the checklist form he had traveled from Africa in the last 21 days which meant it should have triggered a predicted response from the hospital. The press conference posted above conforms that the diagnosis was made without factoring that relevant question about itinerary of Duncan in the final diagnosis.Bear in mind Duncan was not showing Ebola symptons which means that question would have triggered a cautious response.
AS I SAID EARLIER …………………………..THIS IS A SIMPLE CASE OF ER DRS IN THE US FAILING TO TAKE A PROPER HISTORY.

David I was in a war room in Ottawa treating a woman for a heart attack. The crisis management team had been assembled when there had been a potential problem when a woman from Africa had landed in Toronto with her eyes seeming to hemorrhage. In big letters on the black board was written # 1 ) CONTROL THE MEDIA. when they saw me reading what was written they were quick to move me out of the room. So as much as I like Sanjay Gupta et al I cannot believe this no problem crap. Its time to take a hard line.
@Lawson
Agree with you we have to be alert.
You will know it is bad when isis wont let Liberian muslims join up
The crux of the matter, is that the sudden and virulent activity of Ebloa, indicates it has mutated.
Further, ANY country is ill prepared to deal with it.
With a three week incubation period, people WILL be walking around with it in cosmopiltan cities, before they are quarantined.
And no, I am not a medical person, I can, as an ignorant layman, feel free to make such free claims. But, I see what is and don’t for a moment believe that the public will be told so.
The decisions will be made with the intent to avoid panic ‘the world must go on normally’.
But, if you think it has not hit the fan, think again.
That’s ALL , Folks!!!

How dear you question the healthcare system in the United States on the account of one hospital out of thousands that has made a mistake. Now, tell me how does one doctor’s mistake reflects upon the entire healthcare system in the United States of America?. Are you aware of the fact that America is where you want to be if you’re diagnosed with Cancer? Are you aware of the fact that Johns Hopkins, is number one pediatric hospital in the world for treating childhood cancers? Are you aware of the fact that a lot of hospitals in America are public and government operated? I could go on and on Georgie Porgie! You do not know what you’re talking about sir and stop insulting the intelligence of people who knows otherwise.

No nation in the world has done more reseach on the prevention and treatment of heart disease then United States of America. So tell me where you want to be if you’re having heart issues?

Here in America there are a wide range of treatments for prostate cancer, beside the common prostatectomy that I am quite sure is offered in Barbados.
I am quite sure no one has said that the hospitals in America are without error? I know of one case where doctor gave a pregnant a prescription which could have compromised her pregnancy. And the hospital staff had to prevented the woman from leaving the hospital property for fear she would have gone home and taken that medication. Porgie, that is why doctors in America have what is called Malpractice Insurance.
How can anyone expect medicine to be perfect …who knows if your doctor got a 100 percent or just squeaked by on his exams. They are just like us trying to make a living. Trust in your self. The only thing good about this scare is the tourists wont have to worry about some of you rubbing up against their daughters on the bus.
