awaits the recommendations of an investigation commissioned by LIAT’s board of management to investigate the breach of The Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation (ECCAA) regulations on November 2nd 2013 by its executive management. LIAT and senior union officials are already in possession of an Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) report which vindicated the stance taken by the pilots union and ruled that as a direct result of the company’s actions, LIAT had in fact committed in three (3) regulatory breaches of safety regulations. Resulting in a possible fine of up to EC $150,000. LIAT offered no defence in regard to the three (3) offenses and having accepted liability has already paid the fines associated with the incident. Reportedly the ECCAA is still investigating the “possibility of tampering with documents” surrounding the same incident which MAY result in additional fines being levied.

This incident represents the first time in its history that the airline has been fined by the authority for breaches of safety regulations.

As Said before David , reading the above looks more like Barbados government alone running LIAT , You can remove the word LIAT and replace it with Barbados DBLP government with the lawyers messing with the paper word and put a side rule of law and rules it self .
Where do these people think they get their Power from?

as said before ,Bring Back Red Jet , At least they give the appearance or acting as if they care and looking to expand routes and keep price low for the Carib in the Caribbean .
Barbados government also need to be investigated .
Calling Eric Holder to Barbados come in Bajan .

  2. Anybody get fired? The Chairman and Board resigned? Surprise surprise, they paid the fine and offered no defence! Taxpayers mone,y so who cares.

What exactly were the breaches? Maybe we have to await the report but will it be made public?

    • A feature of LIAT which has been touted in the past is its safety record. Why no big discussion about the fine?

Mar 27, 2014 BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – The board of directors of the Antigua-based regional airline, LIAT, has selected a British aviation executive, David Evans, to become its next chief executive, informed sources said late Wednesday, according to the Caribbean Media Corporation.

Several sources independently confirmed that Evans was approved following “internal checks” but the leaders of the four shareholder governments of LIAT are expected to ratify their choice.

Evans, from Knutsford in northwest English county of Cheshire, has worked with British Airways and two fledgling carriers in the Middle East, Nile Air Airlines in Egypt and Kuwait’s Wataniya Airways.

Evans’ selection comes six months after Captain Ian Brunton resigned at the height of a series of setbacks as the island-hopping carrier sought to bring a replacement fleet of French-made ATR-71 aircraft for their aging Canadian-made DeHavilland Dash-8 and Bombardier Q-400 aircraft.

LIAT board chairman Jean Holder has so far declined to confirm or deny Evans’ appointment.
