I recently listened to an address by Mia Motley, Prime Minister of Barbados with reference to a shooting death of a 14 yer old in Christ Church. What is very surprising about her remarks was the lack of a strong repudiation and abhorrence of the unlawful use of firearms and the regularity of the firearm criminal spree in Barbados.

Her comment “put down de guns” a weak and pathetic request. We have heard this statement before from a former Minister of State…“just put down de guns”. Does it mean put them down until later?

What is also surprising, the apparent silent pens and voices of those against the skyrocketing of firearm tragedy emerging on the island. where are the reporters, writers, public voices, demonstrations or social groups?

Welcome Stamp foreign business folks from Europe and other countries do not want to live next door to Wyatt Earps, John Waynes or Clint Eastwoods. Would it not be more effective for the Prime Minister to defiantly repudiate gun violence, its eradication of guns than to simply say “put them down” This statement to me appears to convey an acquiescence of possession of guns to just put them down temporally rather than get rid of them. Is this the position of the government?

If I had guns I would just put them down in a drawer or on a shelf until I felt like or ready to use them, rather than getting rid of them.

    Maybe hers should have been that the guns were inevitably pointed in a direction wrong.

    Maybe hers should have been that manufacturers, importers, businesses, capitalism, the Customs Dept, not people kill people. And that these should put down the guns.

    But then again, when all is lost what else could have been expected.

    The biggest “MOBSTER” in the land is always the “GOV” – followed by the “BANKSTERS”, followed by the “CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY”, followed by the “JUDICIARY” & the other “NEFARIOUS TENTACLES” of the state apparatus, (ALL PART & PARCEL OF THE WICKED, EVIL, FREEMASONRY BROTHERHOOD OF AVOWED SATANISTS – A REPTILIAN SPECIES OF SLITHERING SERPENTS) whose “DAYZ” are absolutely “NUMBERED” in the “BOOKS” of Heaven!!!

    All “CRIME FAMILIES” are run by “MOB BOSSES”!!!

    Let us not pretend that their (ASININE) moral code does not decry the killing of “KIDS” – primarily to maintain a “FACADE” of “HONOUR” & to avoid intense “MORAL” enforcement scrutiny – rather than out of genuine moral “RESTRAINT”!!!

    In so-called 1st world countries, organized crime groups like the #SicilianMafia & #AmericanLaCosaNostra – often claim a code of conduct that spares women & “KIDS”, this is widely regarded by experts as a “MYTH” cultivated 4 public relations!!!

    In reality, children & women have frequently been victims of “MOB” violence, either as collateral damage (FANCY TERM 4 AGGRAVATED MURDER), in targeted attacks, (TO TEACH A LESSON), as witnesses to be silenced, (ANOTHER DAMNABLE OBJECT LESSON), and/or as “PAWN” in feuds (OFTEN CAUGHT OUT IN THE CROSSHAIRS)!!!

    The primary reasons for the public disavowal of such killings often include –

    (1) Avoiding police attention as “KILLING INNOCENTS” generates massive “MEDIA” coverage & public outrage, prompting authorities to dedicate maximum resources to solving such crimes…

    (2) MOBSTERS* prefer to operate quietly to avoid “ATTENTION” and/or “ARREST”!!!

    (3) By preventing cooperation when innocent families are threatened or harmed, it encourages witnesses to break the “CODE OF SILENCE” (#Omerta) & who then cooperate with law enforcement…

    (4) Maintaining “TERRITORIAL CONTROL” in areas where the Mafioso relies on local support or “FEAR-BASED COMPLIANCE”, indiscriminate “VIOLENCE AGAINST KIDS” can erode their influence & turn the community against the “GANGSTAZ”…

    Proscribed internal discipline in some factions suggest that by killing a woman or child without sanction, is considered a serious breach of internal rules, “PUNISHABLE BY DEATH”, because it brings dangerous heat upon those at the top…

    One tenet of criminological study is how the correlation between the “MOB CODE” v. “STATE POWER”, synergistically overlap & how the tentacles that exist between both paradigms work…

    For anyone to argue that “GANSTAZ” do not have a “TWISTED MORAL CODE” is dangerous at best & morally flawed at worst…

    MOB* bosses “DO” have taboos

    First off

    * Do NOT* kill KIDS*
    * Do NOT* harm innocent family members
    * Do NOT* betray “MADE GUYS” or (those who’ve “been inducted” into the crime family)
    * Do NOT* deal in certain crimes (some refuse drug trafficking to kids)

    These are NOT* humanitarian principles – “IT IS A FORM OF TWISTED MORAL LOGIC”

    We appreciate that they’ve pragmatic lines that mark the difference between “BUSINESS” & “TOTAL WAR”…

    But the key insight to draw from all this, is that even criminals recognize boundaries…

    Cross them, & you invoke total, unrestrainable responses…

    Kill a mob boss’s child, & you’ve guaranteed escalation beyond reason – beyond negotiation – beyond containment…

    HISTORY IS REPLETE WITH 2 MANY EXAMPLES

    Killing children guarantees

    * No negotiation possible
    * Family honor demands unlimited revenge
    * Allies join the vendetta
    * The conflict becomes existential – not transactional
    * Escalation becomes unstoppable

    Mob bosses understand – some lines – once crossed – end the game entirely

    The spiritual/theological reasoning is sacrosanct

    Even organised criminals recognize there are acts that invite “DIVINE” retribution

    Harming KIDS* is one

    It’s beyond the pale of what can be forgiven – by “MAN OR GOD”

    This is why every culture – every religion – has absolute taboos about “KIDS”

    *They’re innocent (can’t have committed wrongs deserving death)

    *They represent the future (killing them is civilisational suicide)

    *Harming them invokes cosmic consequences

    NOW APPLY THIS TO THE AYATOLLAH KHAMENEI ASSASSINATION WHICH IS LIKELY TO PROPEL US ALL INTO #WW3

    Khamenei was killed along with his daughter, daughter-in-law, “GRAND-CHILD”, & son-in-law!!!

    The #AmeriKKKan/#IsraHELL* posse didn’t just assassinate a “RELIGIOUS” leader – they crossed “BLOODLINES”, that according to ancient Sanskrit civilisational tradition – #SATANYAHU & #ORANGEMAN will have to pay with their own families for a “1000 GENERATIONS”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    They killed:

    * His “GRANDCHILD”
    * His daughter
    * His family

    This isn’t “COLLATERAL DAMAGE” – this is “BLOOD LUST” & “BLOOD LIBEL” – all wrapped into one “DEMONIC” package – that NOT* even “HELL CAN QUENCH” OR ASSUAGE…

    Deliberately targeting a leader’s family is the “HIGHEST MORAL, SPIRITUAL & PHYSICAL CRIME” that is irredeemably “UNATONEABLE”!!!

    By the very “SPURIOUS LOGIC” that even “MOB” bosses understand, you’ve now guaranteed “UNLIMITED” retaliation (REMOVING ROOT & BRANCH”) of your own – until justice is satisfied!!!

    The conflictual “CRISIS” then becomes – existential

    THE DIRE THEOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS ARE SUCH

    You’ve invoked “DIVINE JUSTICE”

    Here’s what the “MOB CODE” reveals

    Moral boundaries exist not because people are nice, but because crossing them invokes consequence that can’t be contained!!!

    The boundaries are “CLEARCUT” – don’t kill “KIDS”, or destroy families, & “DO NOT” commit “ACTS OF PURE EVIL” (WITH NO POSSIBLE JUSTIFICATION)

    Why???

    Because there’s a line between – conflict (negotiable or containable), & “EVIL” (non-negotiable – demands total response)!!!

    The “DIRTY BASTERDS” crossed that line by killing that 14-year-old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The “DIRTY BASTERDS” crossed that same line by assassinating Khamenei & his “BEAUTIFUL FAMILY”, for by assassinating his family, including his “GRANDCHILD” – they invoked divine consequences!!!

    That is guaranteeing “ESCALATION” – beyond rational calculation!!!

    THE MOB BOSS WISDOM

    A mob boss would say: “You never kill the guy’s family

    You kill him – yes

    You negotiate from strength.

    But you don’t kill his “KIDS”

    Because once you do that – the response has no limits

    The vendetta becomes total

    There is no “OFF-RAMP” (#AskDonaldTrump) – for as long as he & his family lives – “AN IRANIAN FATWA REMAINS) in place – same 4 #Satanyahu!!!

    What the US-IsraHELL* did was what mob bosses explicitly avoid

    They killed the target’s family

    Not in explicitly “#RElieGIOUS terms, but in this proviso – cross certain lines, & you guarantee response that transcends your ability to control it

    When those lines are crossed – divine consequence manifests!!!

    Not as lightning from heaven – but as human response that becomes total & uncontainable.

    THEREFORE THE CONCLUSION THIS RAISES

    BARBADOS* has invoked what even mob bosses fear

    The vendetta that knows no limits

    In a world with nuclear weapons, cyber capabilities, & global reach, a vendetta that knows no limits becomes… what???

    Is that the inflection point we’re identifying???

    And now the cascade begins, because certain lines, once crossed, leave no choice but total response…

    Let’s see where this leads & where it ends!!!

    In the interest of clarification, please explain why you deemed Mottley’s “put down de guns” comment to be a “weak and pathetic request?”

    Is it based on any fact she’s on record for having made similar comments relative to the others murders that occurred so far for the year, or because the victim was 14 years-old, or believe she should respond to EVERY ISSUE with political rhetoric?

    And, how would it have been “more effective” if she used the unfortunate situation to make political, symbolic statements, which may have been INAPPROPRIATE under the circumstances?

    That is exactly what I dislike about Barbados. I don’t want to live next to them either.

    All I hear about is the crackdown that will happen when a tourist is victims of these crime. Seems like locals will be expendable till then.

    Get some self respect and then national respect.

    I was awaiting further clarification before proceeding to comment.

    However, if this thread is indeed a reference to Mottley’s response following the death of 13 year-old Shawnaton Chase who was shot in Silver Hill, Christ Church last year, then it’s COMPLETELY different.

    I listened to the PM’s statement in its entirety and “the takeaway” I got was that, rather than her usual speeches filled with repetitive, verbose language, she used emotion to appeal to Barbadians instead.
    She began by extending condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims; expressed a deep “abhorrence of the unlawful use of firearms,” and made an ‘emotional appeal’ for Barbadians to solve conflict without using violence, and assist in the fight against crime, as it is an endeavour that cannot be undertaken alone by the government or BPS.

    Bajan Boy seems to be of the opinion Mottley should’ve been a bit more CONDEMNATORY in her comments about the shooting, simply because the victim was 13 years-old.
    And, for reasons known only to himself, deliberately took the speech completely out of context and used a few ‘buzz words’ therefrom as his BASIS to make BROAD, GENERALISED criticisms.

    Surely, one should recognise that, in rhetoric, there are some fundamental differences between political condemnation speeches and emotional speeches.
    Whereas the former focuses primarily on moral judgment, blame, and social shaming, the latter is more so a part of persuasive strategy used by politicians in an attempt to influence the audience’s behaviour.

    Therefore, his mentioning that “her comment ‘put down de guns’ (was) a weak and pathetic request,” is UTTER NONSENSE, in MY opinion, especially if one understands the CONTEXT in which she made that statement.

    At 1:32 of her statement, the PM said, “…… to the mothers, the fathers, the sisters, the brothers, the friends, the grandmothers, the grandparents, the godparents, anybody, somebody on the brink of making these choices, bring them back…… intervene…… talk with them, have the difficult but necessary conversations with them…… encourage them TO PUT DOWN THE WEAPONS (my) people, and seek peaceful resolutions.”

    Please explain, within the context of the above comment, what makes the remark “weak and pathetic?”

    I’m not in the habit of jumping on people’s ‘bandwagons’ ‘just because’ it’s the popular trend to do so at any particular point in time.
    In other words, Mottley and members of her administration have engaged in several practices that are deserving of LEGITIMATE criticism.
    However, I’m not going ‘scrape the bottom of the barrel and nitpick,’ looking for something to criticise, without a CONSTRUCTIVE PURPOSE or VALID RATIONALE.

    The blogmaster in this case is doubtful that any appeal- emotional or otherwise- to this group of lawless individuals will make a difference. Certainly if any impact, it will be at the margin.

    All you have to do is look at the cheers and applauses murder accused receive when being escorted to Court, and they shamelessly smiling and waving to their crowds of supporters.

    Also, idiots posting to BPS Facebook page that those criminals should be released.

    However, that is a topic for another discussion.

    PM worried about the future of the youth

    Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is concerned about the nation’s future, as she feared Barbadian youth does not have a sense of identity.

    “The difficulty is that we live in a world now where the ability to find truth is being blurred daily by artificial things, blurred by those who just simply want to be able to create and tell different stories that do not relate to the reality of the past. The efforts of others to retell our stories in recent years must be a concern because deep down we know that if you know yourself and where you’ve come from, then your ability to claim one destiny and to work your way towards it becomes that much easier.

    “I fear that our young people are in danger of walking open-eyed into captivity yet again, and this time the captivity is not the enslavement of human bodies, but it is truly the enslavement of human minds,” she said.

    Mottley was delivering the closing remarks after the re-dedication of the Marcus Garvey Amphitheatre and the Marcus Garvey Legacy Conversation in Queen’s Park, The City. The featured guest was surgeon 93-year-old Dr Julius Garvey, the son of the late freedom fighter, Pan-Africanist and philosopher, who was accompanied by his wife Constance and grandson Jackson.

    Mottley said Barbados was taking the right steps economically, although she said the distance would only be covered when Cabinet was able to walk with its people and allow them not to be tenants in their own land, but owners of all that they survey.

    “What we have [also] not yet mastered is ensuring that the common point of departure for us must be understanding respect and self-respect, and the importance of empathy and care as children of the African diaspora, without which we would not be here,” she said.

    Mottley said she was heartened to see how their efforts in education had aligned with some of Dr Garvey’s beliefs, which reinforced they were on the right track.

    “To hear you, therefore, tonight, continue to reinforce that hierarchy of obligations makes me know fully that we are on the right track. The problem comes with the scale at which others recognise that that is their legacy as Barbadians, as Bajans. We have now to consciously work beyond our curriculum in how we engage with each other as people to get us to recognise that we are not simply raising the next generation, but we are securing the future of humanity because the African civilisation, more than any other civilisation, has been the humanising part of global civilisation,” she said.

    During the chat, Dr Garvey raised many points that garnered applause from the attentive audience. However, he said he was more worried about the world than he was a decade ago.

    “Back then, we had more hope. We live in a timeline of malignancy and evil . . . and the system has managed to transform itself. We are in an era where we have to understand who the enemy is,” he said.

    He advised the audience to spend time getting to know themselves as a human being was a creative consciousness.

    “If you can get to that level of self-consciousness, you can live at the highest level of life. My father was a genius because he was able to access creative intelligence at an early age and that made him prolific in what he was able to do,” he said. ( CA)

    Campaign financing warning

    Senator Dr John Rogers has sounded a warning about political campaign financing, opining it could have links to domestic terrorism and suggesting it should be part of the Domestic Terrorism Bill, 2026, passed in the Senate on Wednesday.

    The legislation makes provision for the penalisation of people who commit acts of domestic terrorism, when the act is committed recklessly in a public place with the intention of causing the public, or a segment of the public, to fear for their safety or the safety of others; or when it involves the unlawful importation, possession, carrying or use of firearms or ammunition or both, of such a type and in such quantities or such a manner as to constitute a significant threat to the safety of the public.

    Rogers asserted campaign financing is “a serious matter” in Barbados. While making clear his observation did not refer to the current administration, the Independent senator said: “We see large sums of money being spent during electoral campaigns and we assume that it is all clean and no doubt it is. I am just talking futuristically.

    “So what happens to a political party who is heavily funded by a good citizen who is found to be involved in domestic terrorism?” he asked.

    Pointing to a section of the legislation pertaining to the unlawful importation of large quantities of firearms, Rogers said that section “may really be looking at some of the good citizens we have in the country – the people who are at every cock fight; in every picture, but somewhere behind the scenes are the ones who are responsible for bringing large quantities of firearms into our country and it has implications for another thing.

    “I am wondering if given that possibility, that this particular legislation could well net some of our good citizens; if this legislation should not be accompanied by legislation on campaign financing.”

    Rogers expressed fear that the public perception of the legislation might be “just another law”.

    “We know that somebody who knows somebody, is going to put in a word for somebody and they are going to say ‘cuddear’. Because that is the attitude in Barbados, “ Rogers said.

    However, he stressed the law must be seen to apply to all who are proven guilty of the crime of domestic terrorism.

    The Anglican priest cited Red Plastic Bag’s calypso Me Hands Tied and warned: “If we live in a country where the big one cannot be held and cannot be caught, this legislation is good on paper.

    “We have to be careful that this is not the impression that is given out there . . . if people realise that this law is passed but somehow it is somehow not equally administered, if we think we have problems now, we will see problems after that.

    “I am just saying that if you are going to get serious about what is taking place in our society, these are some of the areas you have to look at,” he said.

    Rogers said he had “no problem” in supporting the legislation, “but the reality is that we have an endemic problem in our society and legislation after legislation” and asked who was being netted by the legislation passed.

    “If we live in a country where the big one cannot be held and cannot be caught, this legislation is good on paper. But if we think we have problems in our society now, do not let it be administered equally and (you will) see what can happen,” Rogers said. ( GC)

    When will our churches really stand up and be counted?

    So if we take Dr Rogers’ concern to its logical conclusion, then can we presume that when we see obvious breaches of the Law – and yet there is no public accountability (as is required by Law)…
    …that these are often cases where “the big one cannot be held and cannot be caught”…?

    Does this help to explain our HOPE / STEAL / Radical vaccine / Four Seasons / Hardwood 1 & 2 / and many other current situations?

    It is a pity that Dr Rogers has ‘no problem’ in supporting such a flawed Bill – without proffering some meaningful amendments that could address such obvious shortcomings.

    Like a meaningful PAC, Auditor General’s Office, Integrity Legislation Act, etc …

    What a place!

    The REAL purpose of such Law should be to ensure the integrity of those with the POWER to exert REAL influence on society.

    When lawfulness, transparency and integrity become the norm at this UPPER level, this then HAS to trickle down to the lesser influencers in the society.
    This process does NOT work in reverse. Like water, it does NOT trickle upwards.

    This Bill is therefore destined to join the long list of useless legislation that fails to address the downwards slide towards perdition… while pretending to enact change.

    Many public officials mean well in ‘theory’ BUT in order to remain relevant in the eyes of the establishment, it is only so far they are prepared to go.
