Press Release by Robert Clarke, Attorney-at-Law – Vice President People’s Empowerment People (PEP)
Robert Clarke, Attorney-at-Law
Robert Clarke, Attorney-at-Law

The statement on CBC TV on the 24 November, 2013 by Vincent Blackett of the Catholic Church which was reported in the Daily Nation of Monday 25 November, 2013 in relation to the down grading of the Barbados’ economy by Standards & Poor, by Moody’s, by the International Monetary Fund, by the World Bank that “no one can downgrade us” “We have been upgraded by Jesus Christ” shows the lack of understanding of the suffering of the people of the Caribbean and Barbados in particular.

I am not certain which Jesus Christ he is referring to. Is he cognizant of the Jesus Christ as reported in the New Testament of the Bible who looked at Lazarus the dead and gave him life; the Leper full of oozing sores who he touched with his hand and healed; the blind who was looking for his face but could not see and he touched him and the blind saw; the multitudes who he fed with the five fishes and five loaves of bread; or it the new concept of Jesus as shown in the massive buildings of the churches in especially Rome and all through Latin America, or is it the Vatican Banks which control most of economies of the World without caring for the poor?

Does Vincent Blackett understand anything about economic principles?

Does Vincent Blackett know anything about the Rothchild Bank along with the Catholic Church who financed the first World War by lending money to Germany to buy arms to fight against England and France; by lending money to England and France to fight against Germany?

Does he recognize that his existence and most of the Roman Catholic Church’s existence depend upon the contribution of the poor?

Does he recognize that it makes them live above the poor?

Does he understand the idea of rent and mortgages the poor has to deal with but how can he understand that when he lives in a rent free residence?

Does he understand that the Church must be above party politics and he should not use his connection with the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) to spew out anti-working class propaganda?

But most importantly, does he understand the Sandal wearing, sack cloth used by Jesus Christ on the streets of Jerusalem should be his standards in Barbados?

Does he see himself and the others in the Churches wearing fanciful and comical clothes and shouting down from their pedestals to their population non-sensical metaphors?

Vincent, it is time your learn the truth about Jesus Christ and try as you may to live his simple life.

In a broader concept, Barbadians along with billions of non-white peoples in Africa, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada and England are suffering because of people like you who refuse to look objectively at the cause of the suffering.

In relation to our small homeland of Barbados, you representing your little niche of the Roman Catholic Church; the Barbados Chamber of Commerce represent their little niche, the Tourism industry represent their little niche, the Barbados Labour Party represent their little niche, the Lodges, including the Masonic Lodges represent their little niche. None of them represent the working people of Barbados.

You have forgotten the People. You are not like Jesus Christ who gave his life for the people. When the people of the Caribbean realize that they have been lied to, tricked, guided wrongfully and unfaired, make their own decisions, then we shall all have to answer to your God, to my beliefs, to the people’s unhappiness, to children’s suffering, then we shall say to ourselves, did we do what was right.

You and a lot of others should listen to The Right Reverend Frank Marshall; listen to voices that have been asking why aren’t we seriously thinking about the development of the unused acres of land for the production of food for our people

Why aren’t we asking for a serious look at sun, wind and water for development of our energy base?

Why aren’t we looking at the serious reduction of imports of food into our country for our people?

Why aren’t we looking at the development of the fishing industry for the people of the Caribbean so that we can freeze fish, smoke, fish, can fish and export the excess to bring in revenue for our country?

Why aren’t we looking at the removal of the barriers which existed before the so-called ‘independence’ of the Caribbean for our people to move throughout the region without restraints?

Why aren’t we looking at the development and manufacturing of our 7 million people from Jamaica to Guyana as the 8 million people of Sweden have done to develop technical industries like cars, trucks, radios, computers etc. ?

The present Democratic Labour Party (DLP) has been a dismal failure without any policies or principles. It is now seen by the public as being the Government of Freundel Stuart, the Government of Donville Inniss, the Government of Ronald Jones, the Government of Chris Sinckler and Richard Sealy. It is laughable.

But then we have the Opposition of the Barbados Labour Party who refuses to take up the mantle on behalf of the Barbadian People and do what is necessary to create a new democratic system.

And then we have the people who are afraid to take up the mantle. Who will belt the car?

Why don’t we look forward and not backward?

Why don’t we say forward ever backward never?

Let us make Maurice Bishop dream live.

  1. Ross…….i may be wrong and mixed this guy (pope) up with someone else, but i could swear that he was under investigation for something or the other while Cardinal, if i come across it again, will let you know.

  2. Apparently, research is still ongoing into this stuff, sounds a little too confusing to me, hard to separate the sheep from the wolves.

Pope Francis and the Institute of the Incarnate Word

    ssvmabuse:

As you all know, Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio of Argentina has become Pope Francis. Given the now Pope’s history in Buenos Aires, of which he is a native and was the archbishop, naturally I have been wondering about his relationship to the Institute of the Incarnate Word and the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará. As linked above over at the IVE Info blog, there is much to tell.

Research is ongoing, but here’s what you need to know:

During the first investigation into the IVE, then-Cardinal Bergoglio was the Primate of Argentina. (x)
Then-Cardinal Bergoglio, alongside the other Argentine bishops, shut down the IVE in Argentina. Ordinations stopped, the seminary in San Rafael was shut down, and Fr. Buela and the other IVE priests were restricted. (x)
The IVE’s main line of defense is “we’re persecuted because we’re conservative,” as articulated by IVE seminarian Daniel Vitz here, but the main official who shut down the IVE in Argentina has just been elected Pope, whom it is difficult to call a heterodox left-winger.
If they were shut down in Argentina, how did the IVE and Fr. Buela manage to continue on? You can credit Cardinal Sodano (yes, the same man who was bribed by and supported sexual abuser Marcial Maciel), and his close cooperators Ambassador Casselli and Bishop Aguer, for that. More at IVE Info blog.
Bergoglio met privately with Pope Benedict to discuss these moves of support for the IVE by Sodano & co, which were basically a slap in the face to Argentine episcopal authority.

What’s really important here is that the current Pope knows about the IVE and the SSVM. He’s known for a while, but he didn’t just sit there and do nothing. He was a good shepherd in Argentina. Pray that he will continue to be one for the whole of the Church.

Both my friends at the IVE info blog and I are keeping tabs on this, so stay tuned. And as always, you and all those affected by abuse are in my prayers as in Christ’s arms.

It’s not all just cut and dried with a ‘saint’ suddenly appearing on earth, nothing is that easy..

With the selection of the first Pope from the Americas (Francis, formerly Cardinal Bergoglio), media outlets have indulged in the predictable hagiographies concerning his background.

Although he is from Argentina, his selection should not be viewed as a break from the past, but rather a continuation of the grim, pro-fascist politics of the Vatican.

The scandal-ridden Vatican Bank (The IOR) was a principal vehicle for the laundering of Nazi money, as we saw in, among other programs, FTR #532. Much of that financial diaspora involved the moving of monies to Argentina.

  3. @rosss………..why u mumbling ross if u have to tell somebody off go ahead …..this not a court………….Other than that u are actually doing a good job here talking things “Pontiff” almost to the point of redemption.

  4. Well Well

Francis’ approach is nuanced as I understand it. He knows very well that the female priest thing will go nowhere. Ditto abortion. BUT, there is so much about him and what he has said which, as I said above, is very reminiscent of (for me) blessed JP 1. He knows very well that he has to confront the Vatican Bank. He has begun the work of choosing advisers who are not ‘old guard’. He has sent a blessing-of- sorts to gay people. He has spoken of understanding and working with other faiths in a relativistic world. ‘Love and humility’ lie at the core of his persona. Yes, the people seem to love him – and I can understand why as he reaches down from the OPEN popemobile to bless children. He is EVERYTHING one would want a priest to be. I can see why Balance might think it is all contrived. But I don’t think chatting to the press, as he did, on an aircraft was contrived in any way. Tired as he was he must have realized it was so easy to make some bumbling mistake and yet he took the risk and made himself an open book to the world. It is that element of openness, and his sense of awe and wonder and personal weakness, which, for me, confutes the ‘manipulation’ theory.

  5. BRAVO ROSS! You are beginning to out do yourself ,Clear and concise points Indeed you would make a very good PR spokesperson for the POPE.

  6. Ross………fine, why not give the guy (pope) the benefit of the doubt, it’s still early days in the game…
