Press Release by Robert Clarke, Attorney-at-Law – Vice President People’s Empowerment People (PEP)
Robert Clarke, Attorney-at-Law
Robert Clarke, Attorney-at-Law

The statement on CBC TV on the 24 November, 2013 by Vincent Blackett of the Catholic Church which was reported in the Daily Nation of Monday 25 November, 2013 in relation to the down grading of the Barbados’ economy by Standards & Poor, by Moody’s, by the International Monetary Fund, by the World Bank that “no one can downgrade us” “We have been upgraded by Jesus Christ” shows the lack of understanding of the suffering of the people of the Caribbean and Barbados in particular.

I am not certain which Jesus Christ he is referring to. Is he cognizant of the Jesus Christ as reported in the New Testament of the Bible who looked at Lazarus the dead and gave him life; the Leper full of oozing sores who he touched with his hand and healed; the blind who was looking for his face but could not see and he touched him and the blind saw; the multitudes who he fed with the five fishes and five loaves of bread; or it the new concept of Jesus as shown in the massive buildings of the churches in especially Rome and all through Latin America, or is it the Vatican Banks which control most of economies of the World without caring for the poor?

Does Vincent Blackett understand anything about economic principles?

Does Vincent Blackett know anything about the Rothchild Bank along with the Catholic Church who financed the first World War by lending money to Germany to buy arms to fight against England and France; by lending money to England and France to fight against Germany?

Does he recognize that his existence and most of the Roman Catholic Church’s existence depend upon the contribution of the poor?

Does he recognize that it makes them live above the poor?

Does he understand the idea of rent and mortgages the poor has to deal with but how can he understand that when he lives in a rent free residence?

Does he understand that the Church must be above party politics and he should not use his connection with the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) to spew out anti-working class propaganda?

But most importantly, does he understand the Sandal wearing, sack cloth used by Jesus Christ on the streets of Jerusalem should be his standards in Barbados?

Does he see himself and the others in the Churches wearing fanciful and comical clothes and shouting down from their pedestals to their population non-sensical metaphors?

Vincent, it is time your learn the truth about Jesus Christ and try as you may to live his simple life.

In a broader concept, Barbadians along with billions of non-white peoples in Africa, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada and England are suffering because of people like you who refuse to look objectively at the cause of the suffering.

In relation to our small homeland of Barbados, you representing your little niche of the Roman Catholic Church; the Barbados Chamber of Commerce represent their little niche, the Tourism industry represent their little niche, the Barbados Labour Party represent their little niche, the Lodges, including the Masonic Lodges represent their little niche. None of them represent the working people of Barbados.

You have forgotten the People. You are not like Jesus Christ who gave his life for the people. When the people of the Caribbean realize that they have been lied to, tricked, guided wrongfully and unfaired, make their own decisions, then we shall all have to answer to your God, to my beliefs, to the people’s unhappiness, to children’s suffering, then we shall say to ourselves, did we do what was right.

You and a lot of others should listen to The Right Reverend Frank Marshall; listen to voices that have been asking why aren’t we seriously thinking about the development of the unused acres of land for the production of food for our people

Why aren’t we asking for a serious look at sun, wind and water for development of our energy base?

Why aren’t we looking at the serious reduction of imports of food into our country for our people?

Why aren’t we looking at the development of the fishing industry for the people of the Caribbean so that we can freeze fish, smoke, fish, can fish and export the excess to bring in revenue for our country?

Why aren’t we looking at the removal of the barriers which existed before the so-called ‘independence’ of the Caribbean for our people to move throughout the region without restraints?

Why aren’t we looking at the development and manufacturing of our 7 million people from Jamaica to Guyana as the 8 million people of Sweden have done to develop technical industries like cars, trucks, radios, computers etc. ?

The present Democratic Labour Party (DLP) has been a dismal failure without any policies or principles. It is now seen by the public as being the Government of Freundel Stuart, the Government of Donville Inniss, the Government of Ronald Jones, the Government of Chris Sinckler and Richard Sealy. It is laughable.

But then we have the Opposition of the Barbados Labour Party who refuses to take up the mantle on behalf of the Barbadian People and do what is necessary to create a new democratic system.

And then we have the people who are afraid to take up the mantle. Who will belt the car?

Why don’t we look forward and not backward?

Why don’t we say forward ever backward never?

Let us make Maurice Bishop dream live.

  1. whew again !!

  2. Please listen to this video where showman Dr Denis Lowe speaks about Transparency, Integrity and Accountability and how the DLP will bring and end to corruption when elected. These days are looking funny and we hope heads don`t get crack in February 2014. Unfortunately Williams and Allard his friends can tell you he does not take bribes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zLrKJ3KOx8

  3. OUCH Bobby yuh hitting de Monsignor in the gonads. LOL Some people trying to sound intelligent saying de Vicar was speaking figuratively LOLL Perlixing pussy Bobby explaining it to you.

  4. Don’t whew! Bobby is absolutely right. Our leaders in every sphere of activity only give lip service to caring for the poor. The Church uses the poor so that church leaders can live comfortable lives. The politicians talk about the poor during campaigns but as soon as the election is won, they make a “b” line to those with money to make them richer so that they can get their kick backs. The leaders of business and commerce talk about keeping down prices, but is really happening? I could go on but you get my drift.

  5. I rarely agree with Bobby, but in this case most of his writing is totally on point……seems like the monsignor is more concerned with picking up collection for the church and more voters for his brother, Minister of something or the other, rather than in the real plight of the people..

Isn’t the Great Vincent not there to look out for the abused and those taken advantage of?
Why isn’t he demanding that the government pays Al Barrack his legal due or is he insisting Barrack waits until he becomes white, dies and goes to heaven to get his pound of monetary flesh from the sweet white Jesus?

Why isn’t the Monsignor (M’lud) not preaching about the flagrant violation of the laws of the land by those ruling over the financial house nation?

Do the Directors (other than the Governor) of the Central Bank of Barbados understand that they have a fiduciary responsibility in ensuring that the Governor and executive management of the bank obey the laws ‘governing the Bank’s decision-making and operations?
If they continue to turn a blind eye to the “printing of money” without the necessary Parliamentary approval through the MoF they can find themselves jointly and severally liable for criminal acts committed during their tenure.

Have they learned nothing from the CLICO debacle?

  7. Is the Monsignor related to Minister Steve Blackett?

  8. I have a problem with these so-called Praying for the Nation all of a sudden. When Sir Lloyd was steering a rudderless ship and definitely needed divine help. Not a church came to our rescue, When the oil crisis affected Barbados during Arthur’s reign not a man or woman in robes came to our rescue. All of a sudden we are hearing apostles praying left and right, but we must ask….Are these apostles praying with a partisan motive? We all know the connection of Pastor Durant with the last PM and his elevation to the Senate. Apostle Baird was the first to state we should not worry about any downgrade since God will upgrade us. Don’t get me wrong. I believe in prayers, I came up in a Christian home going to the Cathedral every Sunday Morning and Sunday School at St. George Church on evening along with night service three times a week at the Rouen Church of the Nazarene Church.

  9. wait the BLP yarfowls sound very nervous cause the church praying fuh the Nation……..Yesterday wunna had the Big GUNS like S&P kicking the daylights out of BARBADOS with its short term “DOOM and GLOOM forecast to wunna delight , NOW the Church has prayed for a properous and healthy long term forecast wunna shitting bricks and pelting some at the church,, God don’t like ugly, ask me how i know ,the results from the last election tells me so.

  10. Yuh missing de point ac. We looking at the Church all of a sudden becoming concern about the sufferation of de Nation. Let me tell you ac. I ain’t happy wid de downgrade because my children and when ever my grands peep out into this world will be my concern before I bid goodbye to my earthy friends and foes. That’s my concern.

  11. Monsignor and Steve Blackett are cousins

  12. Dems now Dems again Avatar
    Dems now Dems again

Donville Inniss or David Estwick should use their influence as part of the so called Eager 11 to pressure the Prime Minister to relinquish leadership and lead the government. Just incomprehensible that they would not seek to save the country but party

  13. Perhaps the Monsignor is referring the the same Jesus ,who in Matthew 26-11 told his Disciples after , there was objection to the woman washing his feet ,with precious oils that could have fetched quite a bit of money down in the market.
” For ye have the always with you. But me he have not always.”

  14. Its not God that we should be calling on to save this nation, but the 30 pieces of silver that we have deposited in Palmetto Street.

  15. I have little time for Blackett and I account Bobby a friend. But when he says we should listen to the “RIGHT Reverend Frank Marshall” it is clear to me, on two counts, that he has lost his marbles.

  16. “I have little time for Blackett and I account Bobby a friend. But when he says we should listen to the “RIGHT Reverend Frank Marshall” it is clear to me, on two counts, that he has lost his marbles.”

Mr Ross when I read the reference to the pontifications of the Dean Frank Marshall , the same thought crossed my mind but I ignored comment for fear of giving it credence. The Dean is symbolic with the rapidly continuing decline of the Anglican denomination.

  17. Balance

Yes; and has not always been known to practice the ‘virtues’ he allegedly extols for the better edification of the nation, assuming (which I don’t) that they are specifically ‘Christian’ virtues. But then, as has repeatedly been said on here, why should we suppose that priests are better than the rest of us – as Bobby says, despite the silly uniform which is a guarantee of nothing very much.

  18. LOL @ lawyers talking about “silly uniforms”….
    …Scribes and Pharisees

  19. We agree with most of what Mr Robert “Bobby” Clarke has said in the above presented press release.

What we do NOT agree with is Clarke’s reference to the Barbados Labour Party’s refusal “to take up the mantle on the behalf of the Barbadian people and to do what is necessary to create a new democratic system.”

It is clear that this is where Clarke will confuse so many people, and as the Vice-President of the PEP, he ought not to have been writing like that, so disappointingly.

For a casual reading of that particular sentence by him would make some people in Barbados believe that this ramgoat ramshackled BLP has it ideologically politically within them to take up the mantle on the behalf of the Barbadian people to do even the kinds of laudable things that he so suggested itemized, that ought to be done in his own press release.

But the truth is that the Barbados Labour Party does not care for the achievement of those kinds of fundamental things, given what – up to today – has been reported to be coming out of the mouths of their principals.

Furthermore, what the BLP has been mainly about is helping, especially when it has been at the helm of government, to more systematically destroy many of the affairs of the people of Barbados than to systematically construct many of the affairs of these said people.

And, so much evidence is there to support such facts.

So, the BLP can never be seriously said by anyone to have EVER BEFORE taken up any mantle on the behalf of any Barbadian people, and given their core ideological philosophical beliefs they WILL NEVER EVER do so.

For, the BLP (and the other stupid older faction too – DLP) is fundamentally about the personal familial financial corporate business political interests of their own principals and some others within and without the BLP – full stop!! And not about the fundamental interests of the country, the nation, the public, or the people of Barbados.

And, really, this is the time when Clarke and the PEP ought to be helping to permanently rid the political governmental landscape of this country of these idiots!!

Another thing he has loosely written about is the BLP’s refusal to do what is necessary to create a new democratic system.

He must know that there has NEVER been a democratic system created by any group of people at the national governmental level of this country since the English first settled this country in the 17th Century.

As far as the BLP is concerned, they have been holding the reins of government to varying extents and at different times since the 40s, and never once have they even given an iota an inkling of an impression to any one that they would ever create national democratic government in this country

Furthermore, when in government (executive or legislative) they more than behave as if the government of this country belong to them.

What a deplorable bunch of people!

So, Clarke’s insinuation that there has already been created national democratic government is very inappropriate indeed.

What he must continue to do, et al, is to help properly logically put forward the PEP’s agenda to the people; must continue to do – via many information communication media – is to help project the PEP more and more into the psyches of more and more people in Barbados; and must start doing is helping to locate the PEP more and more into the mainstream of politics in this country.

Therefore, he must stay away from making comments like the particular one above – that may – in the final analysis – lead many people to form the impression that he is unsure about the general direction in which the PEP is heading in Barbados.

  20. So after we have sold out; UBER_mortgaged and pilfered our crown jewels – we now want to P.R.A.Y.

    ROTFLMBO!

This is getting even more ridonculous!

The money is not flowing – that’s the real issue! The spigot has been turned off! The question is who has turned off the money flow?

Those of us in the blogosphere who have been ranting & raving about what is coming but DEAF, DUMB & BLIND individuals keep pouring scorn on what is the inevitable!

Not even pray can avert what’s coming! LOL The blind can only lead the blind with one result in view – the fiscal cliff!

    One more note of CAUTION:

When the next major “BUBBLE” bust within the next few months to within the 18 months (the Sovereign DEBT crisis) – the TT & Canadian banks in Bim will follow the rule of thumb has been outlined in a DRAFT agreement between the Bank of England & The US Federal Reserve. This paper outlines in graphic detail how governments will authorize bank chiefs to “haircut” bank depositors to what was seen in “CYPRUS” when wealthy Russians and others had their saving taken to bail-out the Cypriot economy!

    Read more: http://www.fdic.gov/about/srac/2012/gsifi.pdf

So if you think your hard-earned $$$$$$$$$$ is safe in your local bank – think again! It’s in BLACK & WHITE! There’s no excuse anyone can make when they take your money because the financial & other “INSTITUTIONS” are too big to fail. Any run on the bank will result in a close door institution and online privileges suspended with no access to your money!

    You have been warned!

South Africans are amongst the poorest in the world, living in shanty townships, unemployed, poor healthcare and battling the residual effects of apartheid. Yet ZUMA can splash out on luxuries that the average person in SA can only imagine having!

Have we allowed our leaders to run a muck? What will it take for their to be accountability? What sort of revolution has to be fought to bring about moral parity?

  22. ANON,

Whosoever you are, many of your comments do signal what could happen to many depositors of income, payments and transfers in the relevant financial institutions in this country, if the conditions for doing so come about.

The substantial slow down in the use of money (by individuals) at the micro and macro financial commercial levels in Barbados has primarily come about through the very staggeringly high real actual cost of use of (local) money over the last six years in this country.

The money turn over rate theory will also point to such.

Do be quiet…..(lol)……at least, whatever it is precisely, it’s not the coat of many colours with silly hats. Do you know if it’s true that priests are fashionably wearing thongs these days?

PS You’ve been instrumental in me re-reading ‘People of the Lie’ (Scott Peck) on the question whether evil has an objective reality somewhere out there or is merely a value like ‘goodness’. So thankyou.

  24. Errrm, what does the author want the cleric to do? He think he knows lots of people are suffering but as a ‘man of god’ he’s trying to uplift spirits. He said nothing that my pastor (when I use to go church) wouldnt say.

  25. The above should be ….’I think he knows….’

Ross……so tell me, and be very truthful, how is it you and Bobby are so friendly??…..remember, be truthful..

  27. Ross ‘n Balance
I had a laugh mi’self when I read what Bobby said of The Very Reverend Dean Dr Frank Marshall. If you want to hear politics from the pulpit,go to the Cathedral any Sunday and hear Dean Frank spinning tales of support for this raggamuffin government of Barbados.Methinks he is working for the knighthood, especially now that as Deputy Chair of the Police Service Commission,he has rendered to Caesar the head of the Commissioner of Police and john de baptisted him in his home until further advised by the Madame Justice.Yes,Bobby, the last man to listen to is the Dean Frank.A diehard Dem of vintage membership.A priest so called in name only;a politician representing the interest of Caesar Stuart or whoever the dems put to mislead Barbados.
And in that day,Caesar said “whom shall I send to mislead these
simpleminded bajans and keep them quiet in the fools’ paradise called Barbados. And one of their number wearing alb and chausuble stood in the midst of them and said.”Send me”.And his name was called Frank Marshall
and the people steupssed real hard….

  28. I will never trust a man wearing a dress (priests) simply because he has no natural chalice, some will understand what i said and some won’t, don’t sweat it.

  29. @PDC

    Thank you!

  30. Kevin

But that’s the problem. Where are they all when the chips are down?

    Gabriel

    LOL. Spot on.

    Well Well

I am always truthful which is why I won’t tell you…let’s say ambiguously ‘professionally’.

  31. Ross………..knowing Bobby, professionally don’t count….why are you such a kill joy these days??

  32. Bobby Clarke’s adroit remarks shows that Vincent Blackette’s mouthings are even at odds with the one who they say is in the place of Peter. Today Pope Francis is rightly agreeing with Bobby Clarke in a more visceral way. In fact, he is sounding more like the Bobby Clarke we fondly remember from yesteryear. This generalized critique of CAPITALISM, as an organizing principle, by Pope Francis removes the debates from one between Clarke and Blackette and locates Blackette at odds with his lord and master, on earth. This is the kind of lackeys Barbados breeds, at all levels. To see that a Pope is being more radical than our BEST radical and that Blackette will go out on a limb to protect his DLP, instead of the poor, as Bobby Clarke rightly proffered, should tell us that we are a lost people. Pope Francis’ remarks are not much different to those of the Karl Marx, himself. We have argued before and will contend again that western capitalism cannot recover until we go back 100 years and try to understand Marx’s magisterial work. You may read the Pope’s remarks below.

  33. The present pope is trying to introduce vows of poverty to the church, good luck to him, these present priests/reverends/preachers continue to see themselves as the conduit (middlemen with sadomasochistic fantasies and tendencies) between the Divine and the people (who are totally unaware that they do not need a middle man, since the middle man comes with a price……….collections, money, pay off for being the middle man)………….the people have been mind-washed for so long, centuries, they are incapable of understanding that they go one on one with the Divine every single day, definitely no need for the middle man, priest/reverend/preacher to pass on any man-made messages…just cut out the middle man and they will see their psyche cleared of all the bullshit.

“This generalized critique of CAPITALISM, as an organizing principle, by Pope Francis removes the debates from one between Clarke and Blackette and locates Blackette at odds with his lord and master, on earth.”

It leaves one to wonder if the stupid Monsigor Blackette is aware of the fact the silly arrogant title of (My Lord Blackette) he so “pea –cockily”(or should it be pea-hen) demands to be addressed by has been abolished and denounced as badges of petty elitism among the nincompoops of the kind of clergy that has outlived its usefulness to mankind.
Such honorific titles have been abolished by the simple and humble man who has style himself after the real man of God St. Francis of Assisi.

Today the title “Monsignor” has as much relevance and appeal in modern Vatican circles as the title of “Lord” or “Sir” has in the great Republic of Russia, Iran, China or the USA.

Do you think Father Vincent is aware of these developments? On the other hand, is he claiming he is a card-carrying member of the Vatican Diplomatic Corps and cannot be deprived of the use of his badge of sycophancy?
Does the naïve pompous politicized pagan priest intend to carryon with an abolished irrelevant title while wearing a dress like a black buffoon equivalent to those Queen Counsels who would insist on being addressed as “QC, Mi Laud” under a new dispensation involving a new King reigning in once “Great” Britain and Barbados pretending to be a Republic in 2018?

  35. I agree with Mr Clark`s views. I would also like to ask Mr Clark what his views are as to how the people of Barbados should proceed from here on. By now the people of Barbados should realised things are not going to get any better unless we band together to demand changes from the people that were elected to represent us as well as from ourselves.

  36. Mr Harcourt Blackett has brought further ignominy to the Church of Rome as has Mr Frank Marshall to the Church of England. These dissembling,
equivocators not only do considerable harm to the Christian faith which they purport to profess, but knowingly mislead Barbados into believing that the
present DLP administration is shielded by the Blood of the Lamb.If Errol Barrow could only hear them associating either church with his beliefs,he would exit the Atlantic ocean where he roams and exit through the Panama Canal and reside in the Pacific, away from their brand of bellyaching, lying,
    deceitful,misleading,scatophagous convolutedness.

  37. Miller

You say that Blackette (sic) demands he be called “Lord” – or are you cocking a snook? If the latter (hence the French form – mon seigneur) then of course a monsignor of Blackett’s rank is not entitled to be called “Lord”, a title reserved for a Bishop in a diocesan sense. Bishops may be referred to as ‘monsignor’. I don’t see anything wrong with referring to him as monsignor. Though the title is a Papal one, in a diocesan setting it amounts to little more than an Anglican referring to ‘Archdeacon’ or ‘Dean’….in short it means bugger-all and most especially when the title holder is an absolute prat.

Are you, RR, in anyway insinuating that Lord Vincent and Sir Frank are the same two politically partisan peas in a different pod of religious frauds? Two con-artists of similar intent to live “sweet” off the gullibility of the naïve Bajans.

Simple trustingly hypocritical folks queuing to “buy” a pew in heaven and who falsely see an opaque divide between Monsignore Vincent’s sworn adherence to chastity (except with his own kind) according to the orders of the Benedictine Mafiosi and that promulgated by the Marshall of the collapsing Abbey on St. Michael Row and All Angels former Hell Hole of Prostitution who in true Henry Tudor fashion is as randy as a serial killer buck rabbit in April ran away with the few coppers stolen from the Nuns of St. Mary who saw it fit to pay heavily to hear the Word of God from Frankie’s mouth of twisted truth and deceit.

  42. “The present pope is trying to introduce vows of poverty to the church, good luck to him, these present priests”
With all due respect to him the present Pope has to do what he is doing. Do not fool yourselves that what he is doing is of his own volition; that a Pope can suddenly wake up one morning and decide that he can overturn with captivating words thousands of years of Vatican supremacy steeped in oppression. Like the quiet and clandestine removal of the previous Pope to avoid further scandal pointing eventually directly to him and disgrace under his watch, everything that the Pope is doing is carefully stage-managed with the blessings of the all powerful Vatican Government. The present Pope has ben mandated to put a kinder, gentler face to Catholicism and by extension its oppressive mentor, the Vatican.- QUITE A WONDERFUL TOURIST ATTRACTION , NONE THE LESS.

  43. @ Robert Ross, you should never use the phrase “Bugger all” when referring to Catholic Priests.

No: I don’t think so. The Curia can barely live with what he is trying to do. The only question is whether and, if so, for how long he will be allowed to live. He is built in the same mould as beloved JP 1. Meanwhile, in support of what I am saying may I refer you to his ‘Only Love Can Save You’ (2013), a collection of letters, homilies and talks written or delivered while still Cardinal Bergoglio. Even the veteran Curia-basher, Matthew Fox, in his ‘Letters to Pope Francis’ (2013) has hope for this fella
