BU is able to do what we do based on sources, over the years we have developed many. Regrettably sometimes BU gets it wrong because our sources got it wrong. In this case BU is satisfied we got it wrong. BU extends an apology to Minister Donville Inniss for any harm done  –  David

Minister of Health Donville Inniss

BU is acting on a source which has confirmed disturbing information.

It is no secret the cohesiveness of the Cabinet of Barbados currently under the leadership of Prime Minister Fruendel Stuart is under a little pressure. This is in light of recent revelations arising from the ‘letter’. To add to the robust conversation triggered by the letter story, expectation had been heightened that Prime Minister Stuart would have addressed the issue in a New Year message. To date the country has been left hanging at a time when Barbadians hoped Stuart would have stepped up to the plate and projected the decisiveness required and expected by a Prime Minister in dealing with matters of grave national import.

Our source has confirmed that Minister of Health Donville Inniss stormed out of a recent Cabinet Meeting chaired by Stuart leaving a few choice words in his wake. It is no secret Inniss has no qualms if required to resort to words found in the fisherman’s vernacular to express a strongly held view. It would be interesting to know why a minister of government would disrespect the office of Prime Minister by racing out of a Cabinet meeting. The plot thickens!

Prime Minister Stuart needs to come to the people with a position. Where there is a vacuum any crap will attempt to gain entry. There is the appointment of Governor General which remains outstanding. The Prime Minister must understand that as leader he has to do what is required to command the confidence of the people he currently has the honour to serve.

  1. Donville Inniss has created a virtual safe seat for the DLP overthrowing the once invincible Thompson (I fa’get she first name …). Statis Stuart seat is far far from being safe. He ain’ got nah power, particularly around young and dynamic politicians with overseas assets …

  2. Lematellya, Stuart needs Inniss far more than the other way around … hear

The Prime Minister does not need anyone in the short term because of the immense power of the office. A minister can say take your job/ministry and shove it: I don’t need this job, I can do better and leave. But my understanding of the make up of the Cabinet suggest that there are few who can say that and not end up on the breadline. You must remember that before Cabinet most were unemployed or underemployed and Stuart knows this.

  4. Caswell Franklyn

Yes but Minister Innis, like Kellman and Estwick do not fall into that category …

  5. chupse! All of this foolishness about a Prime minister being of the same DNA of Kings of yore in a bunch of hogwash. If Stuart was the PM in England, Australia or Canada he would have been long replaced. Modern PM’s in these countries do not resemble anything of Kings, they are not even protected in their constitution as is done in Barbados. One has to wonder what was the thinking of the Errol Barrow and others when they sheilded the Barbados PM with constitutional protection from the very institution from which he/she derives their power and should be answerable to at all times.

You could only mention three out of 19. I think that proves my point.

  7. All this rumor mongering and speculation is doing no good for the country.Everyone is trying to play the PM hand.let the man play he hand and stop guessing. When he done play then it,s your turn not before.

  8. Did Inniss storm out after Prime Minister Stuart slap him down like a little boy when he announced to the public that all are entitled to free health care (after Inniss had said that non-nationals whether they paid taxes or not had to pay for health care)

Or was it after Inniss announced at a rapidly called press conference while PM Stuart was in Australia that a new hospital will be bult – without giving us any idea where the financding would come from, where the proposed hospital will be built, when it will be started or completed…..perhaps this was his way of announcing that he was throwing in the towel about being able to properly manage/control the QEH

  9. @Bafbfp
You begin with a nonsensicial point That by beatng Liz Thompson he has asafe seat. What hogwash! Inniss won by 311 votes and according to Wickham a 4-6% swing would put him out on his head. There is nothing safe about Inniss and so let him decide what he wants to do. Stuart did not win any election and they dont think thhe can win this one. so much for the quallity of decision making in the DLP . He has not changed his attiutde , behaviour or stance so I am surprised athat the DLP wiould now want to change him. He does not surprise anyone lest the DLP. The Dems have got what they deserrve. Think on these things

  10. This is so sad.! This country is in a state of anarchy! We need a Prime Minister for a start. This man is irritatingly slow and stuck in history and rhetoric. He mus t really be tempting even his most loyal supporters to put some seat under him even if it means belting out a few cuss words. God help us if a crisis arises that needs a speedy, decisive response!.

  11. true to form

Who is Inniss up against this time around, let me see, oh Sandra Husbands. Listen to me friend, he seat safe hear.

    Caswell Franklyn

I was not arguing that point with you. My point is that the few who do NOT need party politics to survive are the true power brokers in this administration. Inniss could pack he bags and buy a home in the Bahamas if he wanted to.

  12. There is no such thing as a “Safe Seat” in Politics.
I cannot understand why Barbadians think that Politicians are all THAT!

Politicians are elected by the majority to represent the people of Barbados, to “look after” their interests & well being.
Imagine thousands of Barbadians attempting to make a decision regarding their country? Chaos!

Donville Innis & other Ministers are no more that us “Mere Mortals”. Indeed he is human & is expected to behave like one.
They are certain behaviors that is expected when one is of a certain “Social Standing” & when one hang out in “certain places”.
There are Rules & Regulations that Govern behaviors in places like Parliament etc.
Lynette Eastmond clearly made a statement regarding the expected behaviors of Elected Members of Parliament some time ago, when the incident with the Hon. David Estwick surfaced.
We expect parents to set positive examples to their children & teachers to their pupils.

The DLP came to the people with a different attitude………. They wanted to set themselves apart from the BLP & show Barbadians they are all about looking after the interest of Man & Country. BUT that was the late David Thompson’s dream, his plan. He has since passed on & unfortunately left his team adrift, with no sense of direction. Most of us saw this coming from miles!

I have great respect for our Prime Minister, but I am frustrated with his style of Managing this country. I am not used to a leader that remains silent & expect others to guess what is on his mind/ his next move. Who only exposes himself to the media when he is faced with criticism or threats. I am used to a PM who is in contact with his people….. in tuned. The PM of Barbados has an introverted personality that is not suited for leadership & this is a disadvantage to him as I believe he is a brilliant man.

I believe Mr Inniss should make his feelings known to the PM in private & not let his frustrations get the better of him. They criticized the BLP for their leadership skills,& unprofessional behaviors (among others), now they are sadly falling into the same “category”!

I believe the PM is treating his Ministers like school kids & in his attempts to run a “clean” ship, is destroying it.
The attitudes of some DLP members is too Holier than thou & they are trying so hard to create a certain image to the public & maintain it, that they have lost the plot. They have lost what ever little focus they had in maintaining this country.
This country needs a very strong, positive leader who connects with the people of Barbados & his Ministers.
Mr Stewart needs to take a long hard look at himself/ his leadership style & hire a PR to boost his image/ people’s skills.

As for Mr Iinniss, he needs to know that his behavior is unbecoming & if this report is accurate, he needs to know that just as he showed his disrespect for his leader in the manner he did, he will do it to Barbadians who elected him to represent them.

  13. What has become evident with Stuart’s stewardship is that many Barbadians who have been supporters of the DLP have become very turned-off at his style of leadership.

Whether he thinks it is the right way to go becomes moot if he can’t get others to follow.

  14. Bajans (a lot of them) wanted change and they got change, when a people vote they cannot only look at their representative, but must look at the party, the leader, and also the potential leaders within that party. Then if none of the two are front runenrs choose the best of the worse.

Sad, but this is what politics in Barbados has come too, watered down politics. Maybe we have to look towards the USA style of choosing a leader.

Oh, and I do remember that the blogs were very instrumental in pushing the DLP and suppressing any pro BLP statements back then.

    Until…..

  15. Dawn Rollins

Lynette Eastmond would always have some critisism to make about David Estwick. That is the”the expected behaviors of wanna be Elected Members of Parliament”. Ma’am, with respect, the two of them are rivals.

(David I hope you recognize that I am being kind and respectful here)

  16. Now you finally see the reason for the letter …

  17. I think that PM Stuart would make a great Governor General though, he has that ceremonial poise about him, just not my style of a PM, but a GG maybe.

    Until

  18. Chris said he don’t ever want to be Prime Minister so Donville feel he should be the one.

  19. Maybe PM Stuart asked Inniss and the other Cabinet members to declare their assets and Inniss wasnt pleased about having to declare his (after baring every other poor female’s on his porn sites). Remember that the late PM Thompson while in his 2008 election campaign said that his ministers would have to declare their assets…this never happened!! Legislation for Integrity in Public Life also called for declaration of assets but it was sent back for further deliberation (read burying) to committee stage. Dont expect this election promise to see the light of day

  20. Many Barbadians were fed up with the BLP and Arthur himself appeared disinterested.

Decisions would have been made based on an eval at that time.

Now the decision has to be made again and we will make it. It is our right to chose.

  21. Charles Depeiza Avatar

What dis-respect to what Prime Minister by storming out ?
Get a grip of yourself me lad !

Stuart’s stewardship is history: Now is the future, the future is Now.
Lets talk about how we are going to put Barbados back on track.
    —————————
NEXT STRATEGIC MOVE: NO CONFIDENCE MOTION

  22. @Barbados first

You are correct because the BLP will not deliver it either.

How the people are played for fools.

  23. David
“It is our right to chose …”

Between twiddle dee and twiddle dee dumb … I say NOT VOTE. Make a statement.

  24. Charles Depeiza

Exactly when was Barbados actually “on Track” …?

  25. @BAFBFP

By not voting dee or dum will still win and what would have been accomplished?

  26. Did Inniss storm out on the basis of not agreeing with Cabinet Policy?? He is part of the collective..This may speak to all members of Cabinet not singing from the same hymn sheet. If Inniss didnt agree with a particular Cabinet decision taken or policy, then he should do the honorable thing …….resign

  27. David

The claim of the “Voice of the people being the voice of God” will have no meaning other than it is a complete rejection of the process. By voting, whether you like it or not, you condone what is happening. This is so because you have now sufficient information after over half a century of adult suffrage that the process DOES NOT WORK FOR ORDINARY CITIZENS. Voting suggests an ingrained stupidity that needs to be exercise. It is not a cherished thing if it accomplishes nothing. Not voting says that you recognize this and by advertising this, through a low turn out there is a far better chance to create an atmosphere where change (new approaches or parties) will take place.

    no no no NO NO
THE DLP CAME TO THE PEOPLE WITH lies lies lies LIES LIES

OWEN ARTHUR asked –Change for what and to what ?
A whole heap o people who took things for granted and who as the old people would say–were “too happy” decided to change the Government in 2008.-Bare ignorance. Everything was wukking and despite all the crap that some people-( read foolish people talking careless talk) were saying, the economy was sparking. Now What ?
Return the DLP to continue the foolishness started under Sandie but to be completed now by Stuart

There was absolutely no need to change the government in 2008–None whatoever. You dont just change a Government for changing sake or in this case to stop Owen from getting 4 terms because ERROL Barrow manage 3 and not 4 consecutively.

I have seen Governments changed when there were real reasons to change e.g. 1976 : DLP-disinterested = CHANGE ; 1994 : DLP wasted and completely out of it = CHANGE. 2012 -DLP -DISORGANIZED and lacking COHESION and leadership at a time when these qualities are most needed =CHANGE

  29. @BAFBFP

By YOUR definition the system has not worked but to a vast number of Barbadians – perhaps the majority – they believe Barbados’s system of governance has done well compared to most.

  30. @David

Can your source confirm which Cabinet meeting Inniss stormed out of… was it that special one recently held at Ilaro Court on a Tuesday

  31. David

This comparison in moot. We have certain advantages here in Barbados that have been exploited over the years and have been used to develop the business model that we have traditionally resorted to. This had nothing to do with Governance. In any event the opinion of the “majority” has been shaped by generations of conditioning. Majorities are always wrong; I thought you knew this

  32. @Barbfp
You say he is running against Sandra Husbands and so he should win . What pathetic nonsense . He still vote for perfprmance and party. ASre you saying it does not matter what people do they will be elected. NO. This si not banana republic. Innidss is NOT that strong

  33. Yet many would like us to believe there was no coup in the works, and even more now acting surprise. The ‘2nd coming’ and his preferred successor made things worse with their ineffective Budgets now poor PM Stuart saddled with managing the outcomes. The DLP approached governing with their campaign tactics–PR–and at some point it had to lose its lustre.

  34. @Barbados First

    The one last week.

  35. @BAFBFP

It matters not what you have articulated or is able to rationalize.

What matters is what people think.

  36. Charles Depeiza Avatar

Wunnah really toying with Barbados really !
If this is the kind of garbage that emanates from people who supposed to ‘got sense’ , well we are up a creek and need help fast.

    Thanks for the ‘old people’
They have common sense and know what is what and what to do

A lot of you want in your minds to defend the choice to support the DLP in 2008. Rather than facing up to the reality that you made a mistake, you talking all sorts of nonsense.
Come on ! -Get real !

  37. I agree with comments posted here. No seat is safe..Consider St Philip South which Stuart won in 1994 but lost in 1999 and was also retained by the BLP in 2003. That was considered a “safe” DLP seat prior to Stuart’s loss. Similar situation with St. Michael South when late PM Sandiford (now Sir Lloyd) was defeated in 1999. Many of the constituencies are marginal…and whether it is retained or not depends on the level of representation a sitting MP or prospective caretaker candidate puts in during his/her tenure. Look at the history of St Michael West Central, Christ Church East, Christ Church West Central, St. Michael Central….these seats change as the government changes

  38. @ BAFBFP
I referred to a comment Lynette Eastmond made several months ago, regarding the behaviors that should be expected from Elected Ministers of Parliament in Parliament. I am not bothered, neither am I worried whether Lynette & David are “Rivals”. She was on point & they were many who agree with her.wholeheartedly. If it was an attempted attack on Dr David Estwick, it was done in very good taste, as none of us who participated in the discussion noticed, as Dr Estwick was not the main focus of the discussion.

    @ Charles Depiza.
I am a supporter of the BLP & make no excuses about it.
Can you kindly re read the statement I made, (which you have flagged up in your above comment). I sincerely believe you will see the irony & true meaning of the contents.
    Blessings.

  39. @ David

“What matters is what people think.” So then that “thinking” does not have to be rational. And I agree. This is why people run for office voicing promises that have been made years before and remain unfulfilled, because they are well aware of this serious flaw in those who chose to vote.

    @ rtrue to form

    Shut up!

  40. @BAFBFP

It all comes back to what Bush Tea et al have been singing for years, we need leadership to emerge.

Here it is we have a real chance of the BLP regaining office without having to make any promises or make changes to the people.

    The idiocy of it all.

  41. Dawn Rollins

I like Lynette Eastmond. She has considerable sex appeal. But she is a lawyer and frankly I don’ feel that the Lower House is any place for a respectable young woman

  42. David

Yes, and if something dramatic happens, like an extremely low turn out, it is my considered opinion that this would happen in ways that I can not even imagine

  43. All this upheaval in the halls of Government begs that a Cabinet reshuffle is definitely in order sooner rather that later. Maybe PM Stuart will include the details of the reassignments as part of his New Years message to Barbadians. Both are now late and long overdue

  44. Everything now making sense…no wonder Inniss and Brathwaite was doing dixie at the New Years party at Inniss house – after Inniss tell Stuart to go fly a kite

  45. The old people’s way was the best way, BUT sadly society have outgrown some of these customs, that cannot be applied to this era.

Mr Stewart is from the old school & sadly he is one of the dinosaurs that will be forced into extinction.
Remember in days gone by, some parents use to get the little ones dressed, pack them on a bus or in the car & no matter how they begged & pleaded to their parents to reveal ther destination, the information was not forth coming? They only knew where they were going when they got there?
Remember when it was said that little kids should be seen & not heard, Do not ask questions, They should only speak when spoken to, Do as you are told?
Remember when kids were thought to be naughty (breaking the Golden Rules Above) & were chastised by parents by telling them stuff like, what sweeten goat mout does bun he ass, who does help yoh buy ah big guts horse, done help yoh feed um?
The Honorable PM reminds me of the above.
Never come out straight & tell yoh! Always twists & turns, just to maintain an upper hand or superior level!

Gone are the days when Authority, Age & Stature meant superiority. The DLP were the ones who spearheaded Free Education in this country. More families in Barbados are benefiting from this. More people are taking advantage of travel & are becoming wiser too.
I know Adrial Brathwaiite, we traveled on the same school bus, our mothers knew each other. Also Donville Inniss, we were very close friends years ago. These 2 men are no idiots & benefited from the education & mentor ship of great Barbadians. I know the personalities of these men & others among them & can say that their personalities are such that will not allow then to be stifled. Neither will they sit back & be dictated to.

Mr Stewart is stifling his Ministers & “ruling” this country with the stiff neck, I will continue to be de example, I will not be removed attitude that is hurting his Prime Minister ship & this Country. He remains in denial & will only wake up when the crap hits the fan. He needs to realize that this thing is not about him, but it is about an Island filled with LIVING people & he is not at the monopoly table playing with “friends”.

My prayer is for Heavenly Father to continue to look after the people of Bim & to guide it’s leaders.
This is the best way I can express my thoughts & feelings.
    Blessings.

  46. “will only wake up when the crap hits the fan.”

at this rate, you think he cares if the crap hit anything? it really pains me as a Barbadian to see what or where our country is heading. i think i can now say this PM cares nothing about the ppl of this country. it really pains me to even think this way but he is way to laid back for the job of PM.

giving everything that is happening in this country today, when was the last time anyone heard a peep from the PM? and people will defend this?

i say that as a young Barbadian, and not a supporter of any party, who is now very scared about what is happening in this country or not happening.

    it is total rubbish.

  47. There is “education” and there is education, many people I know have never been to university yet I would trust them to make wise and honest decisions. I also know a few Professors and apart from their area of specialism, I would not trust them to walk a “hog” across a dirt track. If the education we have is as universal as we are told; why do we make the political decisions we do.

  48. Wow, I am shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
