David Cameron, Prime Minister of Great Britain

In the harsh economic times prevailing there is an understandable focus on the need to make every dollar count. In an environment where there is the perception of rising crime, demon possessed children and groups labelled evil because they dare to question the cost benefit of a government delegation journeying Down Under; should we not encourage equal focus on the direction the moral campus of Barbados is pointing? Given the agenda of this government to build out a society first and foremost, a holistic concern about the kind of society we want to build should be par for the course. Why therefore do we allow the narrative to be led mostly by economic considerations?

A benefit to Prime Minister Fruendel Stuart networking with his Commonwealth colleagues last week is that he heard from British Prime Minister David Cameron first hand, if Barbados expects to get financial aid from Britain in the near future – discrimination against homosexuals will have to cease. To quote theGuardian: Britain has threatened countries that ban homosexuality with losing aid payments unless they reform, David Cameron has said. But he conceded that “deep prejudices” in some countries meant the problem would persist for years. In Barbados we are known to be tolerant of homosexuals although our laws say otherwise.

It is fair to say given the leadership position of Great Britain in the world’s leading financial institutions that in the not too distant future lending agencies like the International Monetary Fund, Inter-american Development Bank and World Bank will be adopting a similar position. Other countries will obviously follow Great Britain which will affect bilateral arrangements with those countries.

Over the years the homosexual debate has moved from the affected parties being thought to be afflicted by genetic flaws to a civil rights issue. Despite how some would want to describe individuals who speak out against the homosexual lifestyle or what is aesthetically referred to as an alternative lifestyle, the world remains divided on the issue. In the land of the free the battle continue to rage  between the Gay Movement and the Courts. What makes the issue more complex is that the Church, Christians especially, remain divided on the issue.    

In the absence of conclusive studies homosexual behaviour must clearly be identified as a lifestyle. The question raised is what next?  Bottomline this is not a Black or White issue as some social commentators would make out. It speaks to how as small societies especially we have weaved a value systems over time upon which we have raised our families.

BU read an article recently titled Gays—No Easy Answers; A Christian Response . After reading the article non Christians are forced to ask the question – why would God create a homosexual? In other words, why did God create murderers or for that matter human beings with all the imperfections which we see manifested everyday. Frankly the article has created more questions than answers.

The threat by Prime Minister David Cameron – no doubt other so called first world countries will follow – means that the financial dependent countries of the world will have no choice but to fall in line. Nothing else matters.

    Almost certainly the British did not introduce homosexuality to Barbados, but the British certainly introduced the harsh homosexual laws that still sit on our stature books.

    When will we get the courage to throw out those foolish old colonial laws?


  2. Where is the evidence to suggest that the legalization of buggery and prostitution will in any way reduce the incidence of hiv/aids within these groups? Are they really discriminated against in Barbados from accessing health care or functioning in whatever in any capacity they chose? I have heard the arguments about discrimination but I have seen no evidence of such.

    What Does The Bible Say About Judgment? Not the COUNTERFEIT revelation of the Book of Mormon!

    Let’s explore that for a moment.

    What kind of society would that be?

    Would that be a just society?

    Would that be fair?

    The truth is that it would be horribly unjust.

    “The rapists, the child molesters, the murderers and the thieves would run rampant in society not having to worry about any kind of punishment. After all, if they did get caught they would just be immediately released anyway.”

    Would you want to live in such a society?

    What would you call a justice system that produced those kinds of results?

    “Of course you would say that such a justice system and such a society are unjust and do not deserve to continue.”

    “But the sad thing is that a very large percentage of Christians believe that God is just like that justice system that never, ever punished the criminals.”

    “It is a fact that many Christians today believe that God would never punish anyone for anything.”

    “But they are completely and totally wrong according to the Bible.”

    “The truth is that God is a God of perfect love AND of perfect justice, and according to the Bible the judgment of God is very real.”

    In 2 Timothy 4:1, the apostle Paul tells us that God will indeed judge us all….

    “In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead”

    “In 1 Peter 4:5, the apostle Peter also tells us that we will have to give an account of what we have done to God….”

    “But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”

    Romans 14:10 tells us that we will all stand before the judgment seat of God one day….

    “You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.”

    Hebrews 13:4 explains that God will judge all those who have sinned sexually….

    “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”

    In Revelation 11:18 we are told that God will judge and destroy those who destroy the earth….

    “The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great— and for destroying those who destroy the earth.”

    In Hebrews 9:27 we are instructed that we only get one life (no reincarnation) and after this life we will face the judgment of God….

    “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment”

    At this point many would be tempted to argue that the message of Jesus was all about peace and love.

    That is true.

    Jesus loves all of us so much that He was willing to die on the cross for us.

    But that does not make Him unjust.

    The truth is that there was NOBODY in the Scriptures who talked about hell more than Jesus did. Just consider the following examples….

    Matthew 10:28

    “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

    Luke 12:5

    “But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.”

    Matthew 5:29

    “If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”

    Matthew 23:33

    “You SNAKES! You brood of VIPERS! How will you escape being condemned to hell?”

    There is no getting around the fact that the Bible says that we will all face judgment someday.

    Are you ready for that day?

    In John 3:36 it tells us this….

    “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.”

    Without Jesus, you will be facing the judgment of God by yourself.

    You will be fully accountable for your own unrighteous acts.

    In fact, in 2 Peter 2:9, the Scriptures tells us that the unrighteous are experiencing punishment in hell right now as they continue to be held for the day of final judgment….

    “if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.”

    The Bible says that without Jesus to pay for our sins, we remain under the wrath of God.

    God loves us very much, but he is also completely and perfectly just.

    Nothing is going to change that.

    In 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10, we see both the PERFECT LOVE and thePERFECT JUSTICE of God on display….

    God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

    The truth is that most people do not want to hear about the justice of God.

    Most people simply do not want to hear that judgment is coming.

    In fact, most people today sound very much like the people that the apostle Paul was describing in Romans 2:5…..

    But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

    But we will be held accountable.

    If you go out and murder someone and the authorities catch you, what is going to happen?

    They are going to hold you accountable.

    What will happen if you break God’s laws?

    He will hold you accountable.

    The people who foolishly think that God would never judge them are in for a very rude surprise according to the Bible.

    At the very end of the Bible we read about the final judgment of humanity, and it is a very sobering message for us all….

    Revelation 20:11-15

    “Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

    That is a very heavy piece of Scripture, but it is the stone cold truth.

    So is there any good news?

    Yes – in fact there is some great news.

    While it is very true that we have all broken God’s laws, the truth is that God loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross to pay the penalty for OUR sins.

    In 1 John 5:11-13, we read that whoever receives Jesus as Savior and Lord will not face an eternity away from God. God wants to give us eternal life, and it is free for whoever has the Son….

    “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

    The article above does not have to be bad news for you.

    Yes, we are all guilty before God, but the love of God is so great that He willingly paid for our lawbreaking.

    Jesus paid for the sins of all mankind when He died on the cross.

    Jesus made His sacrifice so that you could be forgiven and could have eternal life.

    If you will ask Jesus into your life today, your sins will be forgiven and you will be given eternal life.

    If you ask Jesus into your life today, then when the day of judgment comes you can have confidence knowing that your sins are forgiven.

    Those who do not have Jesus will be held accountable for their own sins. That is why we must get the message of the gospel to as many people as possible while there is still time.

    And what is kinda strange is it perfectly legal for a man to give another man a “blow job” or a “hand job”, but it is illegal for a man to sodomize his wife.

Again, this doesn’t mean it is okay to sin (Rom. 6:1-2), but it does mean that we rest, we trust completely in what Jesus did on the cross (1 Pet. 2:24), how he fulfilled all the Law (1 Pet. 2:22), and we trust by faith in what he did (Rom. 5:1). That is the only way to obey Christ’s command to rest in him.”

    “Paul has a warning to those who think that they can combine works with grace.”

    “For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them,” (Gal. 3:10).

    James tells us the same thing

    “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all,” (James 2:10).

    Jesus condemns those who combine faith and works.

    “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness,’” (Matt. 7:22-23).

    “Why would Jesus condemn people who believed in him and did good works in his name? Jesus called them sinners and told them to get away from him. Why? Simple, because those people were appealing to their salvation based on their faith and their works. To do that is to say that Jesus didn’t finish everything that was necessary for our salvation. It means that we have to do something. It means we add our works to Christ’s work. This is an insult to God! Our works are filthy rags before God (Isaiah 64:6). This is why salvation is by faith, not by faith and works.”

    •John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
    •Rom. 3:28, “For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.”
    •Rom. 4:5, “But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness,”
    •Rom. 9:30, “What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith.”
    •Rom. 11:6, “But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.”

    “The Mormons have an impossible gospel that they cannot live up to, that will lead them to be accursed of Jesus, and which violates justification by faith. Can the Mormon be saved following the Mormon gospel? No, he cannot. He needs to find rest in Jesus by being justified by faith, not faith and works.”

    You quoted the scripture above.

    Now, what does the last line of the above quote, please tell us Preacher? It says. . . . . . . . . . .”The dead were judged according to what they had done ( DONE = action/work performed) as recorded in the books.”

    So, are we or are we not judged according to that which we have DONE (work performed), Preacher ZOE? You used the quote not I.

    Yes, His Grace is sufficient after we can DO or have DONE (ie perform some action) to deserve His Grace!

    Preacher you are misleading folk who are hungry to hear the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST and not the gospel of FALSE Preachers! And, you WILL BE JUDGED ACCORDINGLY by the MASTER.

    So, tell me do you just wish Salvation, Preacher or would you not prefer EXALTATION?

    Furthermore I do not know or have never heard of any “Mormon gospel” but I have knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of our Heavenly Father who is the Saviour and Redeemer of us all.

  15. No Sir, you have misjudged me. My belief is just that, a belief. I “know” nothing … I may be 99.7 percent sure on some things but I am absolutely sure of nothing (other than my life being finite). I never said that everyone else is wrong, so to be clear I will say it now. I do not BELIEVE that everyone else is wrong; in any event I am not the only atheist in the world so I cannot logically oppose them now can I.

    I think that thinking people KNOW that the more you believe you know, the more you KNOW there is to find out. Only Christians KNOW, and that is why they are the such a pain in the ass.


  16. It seems PM David Cameron has been a busy camper. According to this report he has been the champion for same sex marriages in Churches and it seems that it will become a reality shortly:

    Gay couples to be allowed civil ceremonies in church
    Homosexual couples will be able to take part in civil partnerships in church and other places of worship from next month, it will be announced.

    Lynne Featherstone, the equalities minister, will say that the ban on the ceremonies in religious surroundings will be lifted on Dec 5. The move has been championed by David Cameron but is likely to be opposed by some church groups.
    The scheme will be “voluntary” with no church compelled to offer same-sex services. However, it is likely that some campaigners will seek to push the matter further if churches refuse to open their doors to gay couples.

  18. The Great White Throne Judgment, Revelation 20- 11-15

    @ de hood, you are SO confused, typical of a Mormon, mixing up ALWAYS, the TRUTH of God’s Word, the Bible, with, the Book of Mormon, you CANNOT * MIX* the FALSE doctrine of MORMONISM* with a touch of TRUTH, from the Bible! Can’t work, will NEVER work!

    When the books are opened, each person, who has ever lived, will be judged individually based upon his or her works. It won’t be to determine if they are good enough to get into heaven for only the lost will be at this judgment. Those who have accepted Christ have already received their rewards and are in heaven. This moment will be the most tense filled and fearful time in the history of mankind. Those waiting to be judged will literally be scared to death.

    This judgment will determine the severity of eternal torment for those who did not receive Christ. You may ask can anything be more severe than eternal damnation, and to be cast into a lake of fire? I don’t know, but I do know that everyone who does not know Jesus as Lord will be cast into the lake of fire, and their torment will be determined by the degree of their wickedness. Take a look at the following verses:

    Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: For if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. (Matthew 11:20-24)

    This clearly states that at the judgment there will definitely be those who will receive a more severe sentence then others. This IS* precisely WHY they are JUDGED according to there WORKS, DEEDS, as even those who NEVER repented, accepted and received Jesus Christ as Saviour and LORD, will be FAIRLY JUDGED, according to their WORKS, and given differing degrees of punishment in the Lake of Fire!

    Lost And Without Hope

    And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. (Revelation 20:11)

    Christ will be the final judge because all power has been given unto Him in heaven and in earth from God the Father. We as Christians will be present, but will not pass sentence at this judgment. “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: And another book was opened, which is the book of life: And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: And they were judged every man according to their works.” (Revelation 20:12-13)

    Everyone will be judged individually based upon the works they did on earth. Many believe that all will be gathered into one place and judged simultaneously (Revelation 20:12), but each will have their own day in court as if they are the only one standing before God. I have heard many say that they will give God a piece of their mind or accuse him to His face. But on that fateful day, there won’t be anyone cursing God or telling Him how unfair He is, everyone will stand silent, petrified in fear, and guilty as charged. The knowledge of Christ and His sacrifice will be revealed to them and they will at this time realize the horrible mistake they have made. They will have a change of heart and mind, but it will be to late.

    Those in hell will be delivered up. They will already know the truth and some for thousands of years. How do I know this? You only need read Luke 16:22-31, the story of the rich man and Lazarus, to realize this truth.

    When the rich man died and lifted up his eyes in hell, he immediately realized he had made an awful mistake. He made no excuses to try to persuade God to let him out or that he did not belong there. I believe the truth was immediately revealed to him upon entering hell leaving him without excuse or hope. You may ask, “How do you know this to be true? Let’s look at Luke 16:27-31.

    Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, they have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, nay, father Abraham: But if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, if they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

    This passage tells me that immediately following the death of the rich man, he found himself in hell being tormented and burning in the flames that surrounded him. His immediate desire was that Lazarus dip the tip of his finger in water and cool his tongue, for he was in torment. Strangely enough, he did not plead his case, nor exclaim his innocence or declare how unfair God was for sending him to this place. He knew he was guilty and without hope. Realizing his irreversible fate, he then requested that Abraham send Lazarus back from the dead to warn his family of this horrible place. Abraham’s reply was that they have Moses and the prophets. Then the rich man states something that leads me to believe that his eyes were opened at this time. “And he said, Nay, father Abraham: But if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.” How did he know that the only way to heaven was to repent? I believe that the truth was revealed to him the minute he entered hell, as it will be revealed to those who stand before God at the final judgment.

    There will also be those who will still claim that their works, done in His name, should entitle them to get into heaven (Matthew 7:21-23), but as religious as they maybe, Christ will command them to depart without explanation. I find it peculiar that no explanation was afforded them. This leads me to believe that they were given full knowledge of the truth but still tried to make a case before God. But in the end they will all submit and declare that “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11)

    “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: And another book was opened, which is the book of life: And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” (Revelation 20: 12-13)

    What a horrible moment in time it will be for billions of people, lost, without hope, and without excuse. There will be much weeping and pleading before the throne for mercy, but the time for mercy will be over.

    I also believe that this will be a horrible moment in many born again believers lives. For many Christians will stand and watch as loved ones and friends are pronounced guilty and without hope, and cast eternally into the lake of fire because they would not share the Gospel with them. Husbands will be separated from their wives, fathers and mothers from their children, and brothers from their sisters. Separated eternally, and without reprieve, never to be held or touched again.

    You may ask, “How will any Christian in their right mind be able to withstand this horrible judgment?” The Bible is not clear on how we will handle what will happen, but many believe that we will have glorified bodies and therefore have the mind of God. I believe this in part. Yes, we will have glorified bodies and we will have the mind of God, to the extent that we will be able to say, even as our loved ones are being cast into the lake of fire, that God is just and His judgments true. But I believe that many tears of agony will be shed during that time by Christians who will for the last time see their loved ones due to a lack of concern for their soul.

    “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)

    To be cast into a lake of fire is indeed a horrible and final end to anyone’s life, but unfortunately, that will only be the beginning of woes for those who turned their back on God. For all will suffer in varying degrees beyond the anguish of the lake that burns with fire, to what degree I do not know. I do know they will still possess their five senses, as the rich man did in hell, and will still be enslaved to their hang-ups, addictions, and lusts without fulfillment. And worst of all, their state will be eternal.

    It is appointed unto man that he stand before God and give an account of His works, and what he has done in the body (II Corinthians 5:10). Satan has deceived many today into believing that their good works will out weigh their bad works, thus assuring them of a place in heaven. However, nowhere in the Bible is that doctrine supported and they will be terribly wrong. For it is only through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ that we are granted eternal life. With that said, today are you prepared to meet God?

    “Just as David also describes the blessedness of the man whom God IMPUTES righteousness APART* FROM WORKS.” (v.6)

    The point that the Apostle Paul is arguing here, IS* that Abraham WAS* NOT* justified, Saved, by ANY WORKS, or good deeds at ALL, or obedience to the law. And, the statement by James 2:21 that Abraham was “justified by works” uses the word ‘justified’ in a different sense altogether, NOT meaning declared to be righteous’ by God (as here), BUT, rather, his good works, ‘shown outwardly’ confirmed he had ALREADY being made righteous by God, through FAITH. The word ‘justify’ can take both meanings, with the CONTEXT determining the intent.

    Therefore, there is no conflict whatsoever between Paul and James, as they both agree that Abraham WAS initially Saved, by FAITH ALONE* and NOT by any works at all ( Gen. 15:6; Rom 4:3), but that later in his life, evidence of that Salvation was witnessed by his works (Gen. 22:9; James 2:21). And, so it is with us today

    But, of course, de hood, all of this is contrary to the spurious, FALSE doctrine of Mormonism!

    IF good works, preceed genuine Salvation, which IS* granted solely by FAITH* in Christ, it is DEAD! Useless!

    However, when one IS truly Justified* declared NOT guilty by God, in Jesus Christ, THEN, go and DO good works, which are then rewarded in Heaven, when the Justified believer gets there!

    In other words, good works, FOLLOW our Salvation experience, NOT the other way around; otherwise one HAS the CART pulling the horse!

This would insure against the risks that drunkards, weed smokers or people having memory management challenges face each day. They transgress each day but might just forget to pray and ask for forgiveness possibly because of a major hangover or stone session. Here is a great business opportunity for you and your associates who have already received your pay out in heaven can undertake for the sake of the less fortunate sinners.
