“And there appeared in Heaven a great wonder; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of [12] stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having [7] heads and [10] horns, and [7] crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew a third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and three score days.” – (Revelation 12:1-6KJV)
No book ever written holds such beautiful allegorical and symbolic language, meaning and truth as does THE BIBLE! Type meets antitype; prophets validate Apostles; line is given over to precept; seals are followed by trumpets; vials portend approaching destruction and what was in the Beginning emerges in the End.
The sole purpose of The Bible is to reveal the person of Jesus The Christ. He was in the Beginning and He is definitely going to be there at the End. We can disagree over the how, why, when, where and all the other age-old questions – one thing is SURE*, Jesus is either who He is or we can disregard Him at our own peril.
It is accepted consensus that any discourse on the birth of Jesus can run folks into a meaningless argumentative quest which is often drenched in the dew of historical debate, conjecture and polarization. What has been established is that He was born, lived for [33] and a half years, died, rose again and is carrying on His priestly work in Heaven on behalf of mankind.
However, the tragedy of the birth of Jesus according the prophecy cited at the beginning remains frothed with reminders that few take time to examine. Sadly, space does not allow us to exegete those symbols of the prophecy – but will see how a different slant on the idea of Christmas (the time celebrated as the birth of Jesus) is mired false ideology, misinformation and religious idolatry.
For one, they were few at the genesis of Jesus’ birth who had been diligently looking for His arrival based on the prophecies of Moses and Isaiah or that actually knew that He had entered the world. The story tells us of lowly shepherds who had heard (from a chorus of angels) while watching their flocks by night. What is equally remarkable is that [3] pagan Persian star-gazers (magi from the East – wise men) who were students of the writing of the prophets (made known through Daniel the PM of Babylon) were able with almost pin-point accuracy to determine the time and place of this Great King’s birth, the One who was to be the Deliverer of all mankind.
But the story (though beautiful in its symmetry) holds a sinister historical dialectic which is difficult to ignore as people get caught up in the mad scramble to buy trees, presents, food & beverage.
As was cited in the Scripture from Revelation 12 – the dragon wanted to devour this Child right at its inception. As John the revelator is looking back through the prophetic historical lens of time – though incarcerated on the Isle of Patmos [40] odds years in the future after the ascension of Christ to heaven is given this prophecy which holds powerful truths which even the religious world glosses over due in part to ignorance or sheer wilful blind-sidedness.
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem in the province of Judah, King Herod’s seat of power was suddenly threatened as these wise men came in search of this new monarch, asking – “Where is He born King of the Jews?” This infuriated Herod. History paints a malversational picture of this beast of a man – paranoid and plagued by possible insurrection from within his own household. Herod’s rule reveals a catalogue of state-sponsored and personal terror attacks inflicted on countless members of his own immediate and extended family. Herod had his favourite wife, Mariamne, publicly murdered, as well as her mother, Alexandra. He murdered Hyrcanus, Mariamne’s grandfather who was responsible for saving his life and he eventually had his own sons, (Alexander, Aristobulus, and Antipater) executed to clear the way for complete self-rule. This was the result of the monarchical oligopoly of state power in hands of the elite. The divine rights of kings!
The news of Jesus’ birth resulted in a state decree for all babies up to 2 years to be murdered in a systematic campaign of extermination against Herodian rule. What is mind-boggling according to historical sources is that possibly 2,000 to 14,000 babies were viciously murdered and nothing was done about it. Clearly, nothing is new under the sun given that in our day, infanticide is given legitimacy through the rule of law which says that a woman’s right to abortion is a fundamental human right and must be protected. So every year around the world, 46 million babies are slaughtered based on state decree and laws. Even baby Jesus was not exempt from the tyranny of political assassination policy.
Herod in a blind, narcissistic fury saw these powerful wise men bearing gifts fit only for a king. These men were bearing gifts which had spiritual symbolism to the life of the Redeemer King. It was not a birthday celebration as some would have us believe. Origen, an early Catholic writer, admitted that “In the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his birthday. It is only sinners (like Pharaoh and Herod) who make great rejoicings over the day in which they were born into this world” – hence the origins of Christmas are masked in folklore, myths, superstition, mysticism and pagan ideology.
Celebrating Christmas is so far removed from true Christianity that many refuse to admit or even choose to break with this pagan tradition. On the religious right are those who argue that we have taken Christ out of X’mas. The question is: “Was He ever in it?” On the left of the debate, are those who believe in the secularization of the holiday season and see it as a time for feasting, revelry and merriment with some hoping to outlaw any religious connotations. Whatever our position is – one thing is clear, to practice a tradition without having true knowledge of it is no different to sheep being willingly led to slaughter.
Some of us accept that the epistemological roots of Christmas is to be found in Roman Catholic theology and by 529 A.D., after Constantine had made Christianity the official state religion of the Roman Empire – his successor Emperor Justinian subsequently made Christmas a civic holiday. The celebration of Christmas reached its peak – some would argue its worst moments – in the medieval period when it became “a time for conspicuous consumption and unequalled revelry.”
In the Roman Catholic Encyclopedia, 1911 edition, under the heading of “Christmas” says that: “Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church…the first evidence of the feast is from Egypt… Pagan customs centering around the January calends gravitated to Christmas.”
The prophet Jeremiah warns in chapter 10 – that “Idolatry Brings Destruction”. The prophet warns – “Do not act like the other nations, who try to read their future in the stars. Do not be afraid of their predictions, even though other nations are terrified by them. Their ways are futile and foolish. They cut down a tree, and a craftsman carves an idol. They decorate it with gold and silver and then fasten it securely with hammer and nails so it won’t fall over. Their gods are like helpless scarecrows in a cucumber field! They cannot speak, and they need to be carried because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of such gods, for they can neither harm you nor do you any good.” LORD, there is no one like you! For you are great, and your name is full of power. Who would not fear you, O King of nations? That title belongs to you alone! Among all the wise people of the earth and in all the kingdoms of the world, there is no one like you. People who worship idols are stupid and foolish. The things they worship are made of wood! They bring beaten sheets of silver from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz, and they give these materials to skilful craftsmen who make their idols. Then they dress these gods in royal blue and purple robes made by expert tailors. But the LORD is the only true God. He is the living God and the everlasting King! The whole earth trembles at his anger. The nations cannot stand up to his wrath. Say this to those who worship other gods: “Your so-called gods, who did not make the heavens and earth, will vanish from the earth and from under the heavens.”* But God made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding he stretched out the heavens. When he speaks in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses. The whole human race is foolish and has no knowledge! The craftsmen are disgraced by the idols they make, for their carefully shaped works are a fraud. These idols have no breath or power. Idols are worthless; they are ridiculous lies! On the day of reckoning they will all be destroyed.” (1 – 15 NLT)
In conclusion, for those looking for a message in Christmas – “there’s NONE!” On the day of reckoning, none of these emblems will have any meaning. What is at stake is NOT* whether Jesus was born and is worthy of a birthday celebration (for He never celebrated anything but the Father’s Love). What is crucial is how Jesus lived! The price He had to pay for being anti-RELIGIOUS, anti-POLITIQUE, anti-ESTABLISHMENT but above all, anti-EVIL. That price was paid in His ignominious betrayal, condemnation and eventual murder at the hands of His own kindred sanctioned by the laws and decrees of the state government. Thankfully, what transcends all those vivid, lurid, dastardly experiences was and is the power of His Resurrection. This can be the only focus – and it’s high time for us to awake out of sleep!

The Law of the Kinsman Redeemer required that
a. Kinsman-Redeemer be a male blood relative who, according to the laws noted above, had the privilege or responsibility to act for a relative who was in trouble, danger, or need of vindication. Jesus fulfilled this requirement fully.
b. The kinsman-redeemer must be a divinely appointed redeemer. Only one who is appointed by God has the right to redeem. (John 10:16-18; Hebrews 10:5-14).
c. The one that has right to redeem, must be a near kinsman (Hebrews 2:10-13). The Scriptures are very explicit that this redeemer must be related to the one whom he is going to buy back out of slavery, and that he must be a Kinsman or blood relative. Since the ones who were to become children were flesh and blood – that is, they were mortal men, so also Christ took on flesh and blood and became a mortal man. Jesus took on flesh and became a Kinsman to the human race in order that He might redeem men from sin. Essentially, Jesus is able to redeem, because he is himself both God and man. The Son of God became our kinsman by his incarnation.
Jesus satisfied this requirement because God sent Jesus into the world’s slave market of sin to purchase men from their bondage of sin. He became a Kinsman by taking on flesh and becoming a man. Christ by His incarnation became our blood relative so that he might redeem lost humanity.
Jesus took on flesh and became a Kinsman to the human race in order that He might redeem men from sin. It was impossible for God to save us apart from the incarnation of Christ. God could not die for us because God cannot die. He is eternal life and He is the source of all life. Only by being born as a man and taking on human flesh could He experience death for us.
Since the ones who were to become children were flesh and blood – that is, they were mortal men so also Christ took on flesh and blood and became a mortal man. Hebrews 2:11-12 thus teaches “ For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, “I will proclaim Thy name to My brethren, in the midst of the congregation I will sing Thy praise, And again, “I will put My trust in Him” And again, “Behold, I and the children whom God has given Me.”
The Old Testament prophets promised that One would come who would be the Kinsman Redeemer of all men. He would set right those things that had been made wrong by sin. He would set free those who were in bondage to sin. He would purify those who were unclean. He would sanctify His people.
The work of Christ did much more than merely provide a fire insurance policy to protect us from hell. Jesus set us apart or sanctified us and made us a part of a special people, known as the family of God. This is in keeping with the promises made to the patriarchs to the effect that he would be our God, that we would be his people, and his inheritance. God kept His promise in Christ – the Kinsman Redeemer.
Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook in the same (Hebrews 2:14).
Although the doctrine of redemption from sin is taught extensively in the New Testament, it is not connected closely with the Old Testament concept of kinsman-redeemer. Christ can, however, be regarded as an example of a kinsman-redeemer since he identified himself with us and redeemed us because of our need.
Hebrews 2:16-18 and 4:14-16 point out that besides being our redeemer from sin, Jesus is also a kinsman to us and understands our struggles. Thus he is able to help us in our times of need.
Ruth 2:1 states that Boaz’s pedigree qualified him to perform the role of kinsman-redeemer to Ruth and Naomi. Similarly, Christ assumed our nature, so that he could be our near kinsman and our kinsman-redeemer. John 1:14a teaches that “The Word was made flesh,” and Hebrews 2:14-17 makes it clear that the Son of God became a flesh and blood human being so that as the God-Man he could defeat our great enemy and liberate us from the terrors of hell. God the Son did not become an angel, but a human being. He wanted to be like His brothers and sisters “in all things.” Thus he became our perfect kinsman-redeemer. The Lord Jesus became flesh and blood so that He could be our Redeemer.
d. The kinsman-redeemer must be himself entirely free of the debt and of the bondage which had fallen on the one who was to be redeemed (Hebrews 7:26).
A slave was unable to purchase another slave. From the day that Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden to this day, all have been under that bondage. Since Jesus Christ was the only man who has ever been free from sin, and the bondage of sin, only Christ was qualified to set us free.
e. The one who has right to redeem must be able to redeem. He must be able to fully satisfy all the demands of God’s law and justice for the kinfolk he represents.
If a would-be redeemer did not have the necessary sum of money which was required to pay the purchase price, then he would not be able to redeem his relative. That Jesus was able to pay the ransom price is clearly stated in 1 Peter 1:18-19, where we read “Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” I John 2:2 teaches that Jesus is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world.
Titus 2:14 teaches that Jesus “gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”
Galatians 3:13 reveals that “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”).”
Ephesians 1:7 asserts that “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
Christ purchased our freedom through His blood as the payment to redeem us.
It is noteworthy that in the story of Ruth, there was a kinsman nearer than Boaz, who was unable and unwilling to redeem. (Ruth 4:1-6). And so Boaz assumed the right become the kinsman to redeem the land and lineage of Elimelech, Chilion, and Mahlon, Ruth’s deceased husband. Boaz being a blood relative was able and willing to redeem. Jesus was likewise our willing Redeemer (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Even if there had been another man who had been without sin, the death of such a man would still be lacking the infinite merit to pay for the sins of the whole world. At best, the sacrifice of a finite man could only atone for the sins of a single man. But the death of Christ was not the death of a mere man. It was the death of God in the flesh. God died in our place. Only the death of such a One could have been sufficient to save the world.
It is important to observe the completeness or total efficacy of the Lord’s work in redemption. Not only did He redeem all God’s elect from the penalty of sin by his sin-atoning blood shed at Calvary (1 Peter 1:18-20), but He redeems each one of us from the reigning power and dominion of sin by his Spirit’s irresistible grace in regeneration (Romans 6:17-18), and He shall redeem us from the very existence and all the evil consequences of sin in resurrection glory (Ephesians 5:25-27).
f. The one who has right to redeem must be willing to redeem, and pay the price. No one could be forced to redeem.
It was not enough to have a kinsman who was able to accomplish the work of redemption. He must also be willing to make the sacrifice of paying the price. It was no use for a slave in the Jewish economy to have a rich relative who was unwilling to spend the money to release their unfortunate relative from slavery. Nor would Christ’s righteousness or relationship to us been of any value if He was unwilling to go to the cross.
The Lord Jesus Christ was, however, Jehovah’s willing bond slave. Because of his love for us (Exodus 21:5; Isaiah 50:5-7), He was willing to pay the price of our redemption. This is the most amazing truth of all. God loved us enough to send His Son to die in our place (Romans 5:8; 8:32; I John 3:5; 4:9).
Hebrews 9:12 makes it very clear that it was not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood that Jesus entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption for us. That God’s love has triumphed over the work of Satan to set us free is the fulfillment of God’s promise of Genesis 3:15. Hebrews 2:14 puts it this way- “That through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.”
When Satan deceived the woman in the Garden of Eden and thereby brought sin into the world. Satan’s plan was to undo God’s perfect work of creation. God had created man in His own image, but Satan caused that image to fall. However, Christ, through His death on the cross, restored that perfect image and conquered death. Not all the hosts of darkness were able to keep the Son of God in the grave. He arose from the dead, proving that He had conquered Satan once and for all, so that he might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives (Hebrews 2:15). Christ thus nullified the effects of the bondage of death and brought to naught the work of Satan. We have been set free from the fear of death.
g. The redemption made was always a particular and effectual redemption. There was nothing general, or universal about it. The redemption was made for specific people, and obtained a specific inheritance. The kinsman redeemer restored that which he took not away (Psalm 69:4).
That is what the Holy Spirit tells us Christ has done for every saved sinner. “Christ hath redeemed us” (Galatians 3:13). He bought us with his blood. Then, at the appointed time of love, he binds the strong man, casts him out of his redeemed house (the ransomed soul), and takes possession of the house himself. Soon, those possessed by his grace, to whom he has given the earnest of the Spirit, shall be personally possessed by the Son of God (Ephesians 1:7, 14; Romans 3:24-25; 8:23).
As Jeremiah bought his cousin’s field to set forth the certainty of God’s promised deliverance (Jeremiah 32:6-12), so the Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed his elect. By the price of his infinitely meritorious blood, he has obtained eternal redemption for all his people (Hebrews 9:12). His obtaining redemption for his people is the pledge of their certain deliverance from all sin and all its consequences by the grace of God.
That God has kept His promises in the work of Christ is very clear.
h. The one who has the right to redeem must raise up a seed.
Two possible kinsman-redeemers appeared in Ruth. There was an unnamed and imperfect kinsman-redeemer who was willing to redeem the land of Naomi’s husband Elimelech, but was unwilling to marry Ruth and perpetuate Elimelech’s seed (Ruth 4:1-8). But the chief kinsman-redeemer figure was Boaz, a godly, responsible well-to-do relative of Naomi’s on Elimelech’s side whose willingness to fulfill the role of kinsman-redeemer contrasted with the unwillingness of his fellow family member. He redeemed the land that belonged to Elimelech by purchasing it from Naomi, and also preserved Elimelech’s line by marrying Ruth, who subsequently gave birth to a son, who was an ancestor of Jesus.
Boaz foreshadows Jesus our kinsman-redeemer, who has also raised up a seed as promised in the Abrahamic covenant. Just as Boaz was an effectual redeemer, and got Ruth, the object of his love, The Son of God, our effectual Redeemer, shall get the people of his choice. Today, there are a people in this world, being chosen of God in eternal election and redeemed by special redemption, who must and shall be saved by God’s omnipotent grace (Isaiah 53:10-12; Psalm 22:30-31; Ruth 4:5-6).
Boaz as a type of Christ as a kinsman-redeemer, preserved Elimelech’s land and family line. In this capacity he foreshadowed the great Redeemer of sinners, the Lord Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul unites the elements of kinsman and Redeemer in Galatians 4:4-5. Because the Son of God partook of genuine humanity and thereby became our kinsman, He is qualified to deliver us. He became one with us so that we children of Satan (c.f John 8:44; 1John 3:10) might become the sons and daughters of the living God!
Boaz was a complete redeemer. When Ruth got Boaz; she got him and everything in him. Similarly, when Christ redeems us-God’s elect, the Bible teaches emphatically in Colossians 2:10 that “Ye (we) are complete in him.”
It was only when a man possessed all of the qualities described above that he fulfilled all of the requirements of the Kinsman Redeemer and was permitted to perform this task. Jesus alone met all of the qualifications of the Kinsman Redeemer. That’s why we sing “ There was no other good enough to pay the price of sin, He only could unlock the gates of heaven and let us in.”
Just as Boaz was a mighty redeemer, our blessed Savior is mighty indeed. His name is “The Mighty God!” Just as Boaz was a wealthy redeemer, and a wealthy landowner in Bethlehem, the city of Jesus’ birth, Christ is filled with infinite, inexhaustible treasures of grace for sinners.
Just as Boaz was a willing redeemer, Christ willingly laid down his life for us. Just as Boaz was a redeemer as the law required, so too, is our Lord Jesus Christ.
THIS IS WHAT WHAT WE CALL CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT
IT IS WORTH CELEBRATING THAT GOD WOULD SEND HIS SON TO REDDEM US FROM THE PRACTICE PRESENCE AND PENALTY OF SIN.
JUST AS WISE MEN CAME SEEKING CHRIST THEN…….WISE MAN STILL SEEK HIM TO DAY

IT was hatched in the GARDEN OF EDEN BY A LOVING GOD WHO SOUGHT BY HIS GRACE TO REDEEM MANKIND FROM THE EFFECTS OF ADAMS SIN IN THE GARDEN
Some early Christians interpreted the gospel story in light of Psalm 72:10–11: “May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles render him tribute, may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts…May all the nations serve HIM*…”
For early Christians, the international team of MAGI* provided evidence that salvation through Jesus Christ was open to the whole world… for though bugled in the courts of Herod – “WHERE IS HE BORN KING OF THE JEWS?” – for He was to be an all-inclusive Saviour with a message that would transcend ideological, religious, cultural and social boundaries…
Today the whole idea of Christmas is NOT* about worshiping Christ given that if JESUS* is the REASON* for the SEASON* (using the symbolism of commemorating his birthday on Dec’ 25th) then the secularization, fanfare, feasting, revelry and the ossification of pagan tradition into mainstream CULTURAL*christian practice has become somewhat of a joke because it does NOTHING* to bring saint or sinner closer to CHRIST* or to enhance our spirituality or religious awakening…
The TRUTH* in plain site is that X’MAS is just another excuse to SHOP TILL YOU DROP (thank God most Europeans are snowed in and the commercial companies cannot deliver goods)… X’MAS remains a legitimized excuse for wanton excess, greed and avarice and “WHAT HAVE YOU BOUGHT ME FOR ME LATELY?”
The REAL* obsession is with a 24 hour period of denatured foods, toxic alcoholic beverages, presents most could care less about come BOXING DAY (aptly named) and a fortuitous reason to plan for the next holiday (usually Ole’ Years Nite) where virulent sexual escapades and encounters ring out the OLD & ring in the NEW*** and by the time most make JAN1st – a host of NY resolutions are welcomed under the alcoholic stupor of a hangover from the nite before!!!
RESOLUTIONS THAT ARE OFTEN BROKEN BEFORE THE NEXT CALENDER HOLIDAY (Valentine Day)!!!
The majority of the world could care less about the theological reasons for JESUS’* coming to this world (the 1st time) – even if in DECEPTION* they claim to celebrate a PAGAN holiday called X’MAS as it provides an excuse to abscond from the meaningless chagrin and routinization of WORK* (and the other social trifles) to indulge in an 24 hour marathon episode of FOOD, FUN & FROLIC (equally trivial as for most at the end of the DAY* they would have stooped to the abysmal level of GLUTTONY* and either would have fallen to sleep from inebriation, food exhaustion or the sheer boredom of too much quietness between their earlobes)…
THE QUESTION POSED IS – (based on the warrant issued by the “religious police”), why not teach what is the true meaning of Christ”s coming?
THE ANSWER IS – most folks are waiting to see FAITH* in action – not spurious, hollow words that bear no real depth of meaning…The only person who gets PAID* big to talk CRAP* is OPRAH!!!
Better a sermon lived than one preached – show me a man’s faith and I’ll show you his works!!!

Most Christians cannot even agree on a single strand of Scripture far less to interpret prophecy and to give contemporary relevance to all thing SACRED…
No wonder CHRIST* said that – “IF THE RIGHTEOUS SCARCELY BE SAVED….”

Well, this is one of the first religious blogs that I have TRULY enjoyed reading. I wish it would always be like this for us non-believing, non-practitioners! Imagine it, two solid Christians believing in the same God and one Jesus Christ, (who never existed) having such divergent views on religion and almost coming to blows. Now, who is Cassius Clay and who is Sonny Liston. I am ready for a ringside seat! lol.

Well, this is one of the first religious blogs that I have TRULY enjoyed reading. I wish it would always be like this for us non-believing, non-practitioners! I know of no denomination that teaches that the birth of Christ was hatched in infanticide, and I know of no Scripture that even vaguely suggests this notion. In this fast paced world we live in, it provides a catalyst for families and friends to get together.
Some people travel half way around the world to be with family.
There are many christians who believe in the Bible.They believe in Christ. They celebrate christmas. They have faith in God. They do not need to understand or search for truth or “evidence” because they have FAITH.
They will have a peaceful happy CHRISTMAS and share goodwill with their fellow man.
Just for the record, I personally believe that Jesus Christ existed.
And I personally believe that he is currently rolling in his grave (wherever that may be) because of what is being done and said in his name….

I said that Genesis 3:15 is the first promise of the Savior, and the first plank in the Biblical story of the birth of the Christ child, I then related it to Galatians 4:4 which is one of the last enunciations of the same truth in the Bible

Herod was an Idumenean or Edomite, and definitely not a descendant of the biblical King David. The Herod in Jesus day was a puppet of Rome. From the time of the Assyrians, there was a tendency of conquerors to set up puppet leaders in the countries they conquered to handle the affairs of the people, as long as they paid the necessary tribute and kept the folk quiet.

There is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas. If you believe the Word you will reflect quietly about how the first coming of Christ has affected your life, and as you look forward to his second coming.
If you are not a Christian, your celebration of the season will probably be no different to how you normally celebrate any other event. No one talks a load if you celebrate Crop over or Oistins festival etc Why should we see the amount of error unsupported by scripture presented by T DUMB!

Believers who seriously and sincerely study the scriptures are always being enlightened when they read proper literature or listen to profitable teaching. ISN’T IT INTERESTING that after all these thousand of years, we still discuss whether he was or was not, whether he died or is buried. Jesus the Christ on the eve of his crucifixion commanded us one thing ‘ in as much as you do this, do it in remembrance of me’. The only thing he said to remember him by was the breaking of bread and the drinking of the wine symbolic of his death and resurrection, NO OTHER INSTRUCTION WAS GIVEN BY HIM TO REMEMBER HIM BY.
While i like the atmosphere of christmas, the giving of gifts and the general goodwill of people at this time, let us not make it part of scriptural instructions.
For the ‘believer’ who has a personal relationship with Jesus the Christ, he does not depend on or wait for christmas to recognize or recall his birth. He is ever with us, for whereas he was Immanuel ‘God with us’ in old testament, after his death and resurrection ‘ in the new testament ‘he is God in us’ as he says in the word ‘if a man love me, he will keep my words and my father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him’ .

the entire underpinnigs of our faith is that he is no longer in the grave but he is resurrected, seated at the right hand of God ever making intersection for us.
One of the poignant things about Jesus’ ministry was he never tried to convince others that what he spoke was truth, He released the word, stated it was the truth and you either believed or you didn’t. That is what we followers of his must do. Conviction is the work of the Holy Spirit.

In England, Christmas was forbidden by Act of Parliament in 1644; the day was to be a fast and a market day; shops were compelled to be open; plum puddings and mince pies condemned as heathen. Declared Illegal By Puritans
In June 1647, England Parliament , headed by Puritans passed legislation abolishing Christmas and other holidays: “Forasmuch as the feast of the nativity of Christ, Easter, Whitsuntide, and other festivals, commonly called “HOLYDAYS”, have been heretofore superstitiously used and observed; be it ordained, that the said feasts, and all other festivals, commonly called holy-days, be no longer observed as festivals; any law, statute, custom, constitution, or canon, to the contrary in anywise not withstanding.” – Daniel Neal, The History of the Puritans (London, 1837; rpt. CHRISTMAS WAS NOT A LEGAL HOLIDAY!!!
Christmas was not established as a legal holiday throughout the U.S. until late in the 19th century. In 1659, the Puritan colony in Massachusetts passed a law that anyone ‘found observing any such day as Christmas or the like, either by forbearing labor, feasting, or in any other way, shall be fined five shillings.’ Many early Americans who refused to work on Christmas either went to jail or paid fines.” (Arizona Currents, December, 1968, p.5)
CHRISTMAS WAS BANNED!!!
“Christmas was once banned in Boston. The Puritans forbade the celebration of Christmas because it was a ‘pagan feast.’ Episcopalians were the first in Boston to observe the holiday. They were followed by increasing numbers of young people who raised 18th century eyebrows with ‘frolics, a reveling feast and ball.’ But it wasn’t until 1856 that the legislature – recognizing a losing battle when it saw it – gave in and made Christmas a legal holiday.” (The Phoenix Gazette, December 22, 1967)

In Charles Dickens tale ” A Christmas Carol”, we can all remember the catch phrase of Ebeneezer Scrooge: ” Christmas: Bah, Humbug!” At the time this unholy work was penned, Christmas was still not accepted by the Christian world as it is today (see the above). This story was wholly designed to ‘domesticate’ the papal-made/pseudo-Christian holiday and remove the resistance that the last remaining anti-papists held. Along with promulgating the false doctrine of the immortality of the soul, this tale, embraced by millions, concocted by Dickens, had undertones designed to ridicule those people who were not keeping Christmas because they knew of its abominable pagan origins and undertones… And it is utilized the same way today… how many of you have been called a “Scrooge”? (LOL) Let’s look up the definition of what old fictitious Scrooge was trying to tell us…
According to – Alexander Hislop’s 1916 classic, The Two Babylons: Or the Papal Worship, he argued that: “Upright men strove to stem the tide, but in spite of all their efforts, the apostasy went on till the Church, with the exception of a small remnant was submerged under pagan superstition. That Christmas is a pagan festival is beyond all doubt. The time of the year, and the ceremonies with which it in celebrated, prove its origin”.
BRITISH* powerhouse PREACHER* – Charles Spurgeon said – “”We have no superstitious regard for times and seasons. Certainly we do not believe in the present ecclesiastical arrangement called Christmas. First because we do not believe in any MASS* at all, but abhor it, whether it be sung in Latin or in English: Secondly, because we find no Scriptural warrant whatever for observing any day as the birthday of the Saviour; and consequently, its observance is a superstition, because NOT* of DIVINE AUTHORITY. Superstition has fixed most positively the day of our Saviour’s birth, although there in no possibility of discovering when it occurred. It was not till the middle of the third century that any part of the Church celebrated the birth of our Lord; and it was not till long after the western Church had set the example, that the eastern adopted it. Because the day in not known. Probably the fact is that the “HOLY” days were arranged to fit in with the heathen festivals. We venture to assert that if there be any day in the year of which we may be pretty sure that it was not the day on which our Saviour was born it is the 25th of December. Knox on Christ-MASS* Keeping and other Papist Days of men…
“Lest upon this our generality ungodly men take occasion to cavil, this we add for explication. By preaching of the Evangel, we understand not only the Scriptures of the New Testament, but also of the Old; to wit, the Law, Prophets, and Histories, in which Christ Jesus is no less contained in figure, than we have him now expressed in verity. And, therefore, with the Apostle, we affirm that “all Scripture inspired of God is profitable to instruct, to reprove, and to exhort.” In which Books of Old and New Testaments we affirm that all things necessary for the instruction of the Kirk, and to make the man of God perfect, are contained and sufficiently expressed.
By contrary Doctrine, we understand whatsoever men, by Laws, Councils, or Constitutions have imposed upon the consciences of men, without the expressed commandment of God’s word: such as be vows of chastity, fore-swearing of marriage, binding of men and women to several and disguised apparels, to the superstitious observation of fasting days, difference of meat for conscience sake, prayer for the dead; and keeping of holy days of certain Saints commanded by men, such as be all those that the Papists have invented, as the Feasts (as they term them) of Apostles, Martyrs, Virgins, of Christmas, Circumcision, Epiphany, Purification, and other fond feasts of our Lady.
