You list some good ideas for the structural retransformation of Haiti [Responding to Commenter Dictionary on the Haiti We Are Sorry blog]. Each in of themselves they do not depend on improved education but do depend on improved technical training (farming etc). However, for all, the long-term success of those initiatives individually and collectively leading to a successful Haiti will certainly also depend on improved education, if as we have been informed, the literacy level is so low.
This has two implications.
Firstly, immediately after initial search, rescue, medical, temporary (short and medium term) and security issues have been addressed as priority, the early reformation must include an immediate education programme, for adult and youth, such that the transformation of Haiti can begin with the active participation of her people, not as ‘serfs’ but as active individuals and communities with an understanding of the reasoning behind the methods and the aim of the methods.
I must add, that ‘transformation’ in this context is not meant to refer to bringing Haiti to the same philosophical outlook as anyone other specific group. In this context it is meant to refer to bringing Haiti to a level of self-capability and self-determination. Now, to expect say a three or four year ‘crash course’ in education and technical skills may seem either impossible or unrealistic, but unfortunately, if this is not done as one of the foundations of the rebuilding (in the context of not only structural, but as a nation of people), than all else may eventually prove futile.
This is obviously along the lines of the old phrase of teaching a man to fish instead of giving him the fish. Merely putting up structures, farms etc may certainly alleviate some misery, but while in the short term foreign contractors etc may gain much from the aid given for this purpose, the long-term goal should be to have Haitians and not only elite, but the everyday Haitian, benefit from money flows and thus create an independent people and a vibrant economy.
It is my view therefore Caricom leaders, should address the education of Haiti, as a priority, as much a priority as any other redevelopment effort.
To reinforce a point, the initial effort must not only be to set up an improved schooling system, but implement as an interim measure, an ’emergency education programme’, with the help of international authorities and the Haitian authorities. If one wants a long-term Haiti, this is essential.
We must give thanks yet again, that Errol Barrow saw the necessity of education as a developmental tool. And, we must forever resist ANY attempts to take free education from Barbadians. Indeed, those of us who wish for an improved world, must seek the furtherance of a sound even if basic education, for all peoples, as a necessity for development.

PS: While the latest dismissive remarks on the Christian worldview — i.e. that embraced in the authentic, apostolic C1, new Testament en-scripturated “Faith once for all delivered to the saints” [Jude v. 3] — are intended to distract the thread and poison its tone, the issue is of sufficient importance to pause and say and link on a few things:
a –> the Christian worldview can be defined with sufficient precision as in the just above linked:
b –> This view is of course sharply disputed by critics, including here at BU. What onlookers can easily observe is that such have never cogently addressed the underpinning warrant for the view, anchored on the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth in Jerusalem c AD 30, with 500 eyewitnesses and a movement of Spirit-enabled supernatural life and culture transformation in millions across 20 centuries.
c –> On broader worldview choice, similarly, the scoffing skeptics at BU and elsewhere have consistently failed to address the worldview choice implications of the balance of a key cluster of warranted, credible truths.
d –> As a result, skeptical views tend to be in the end incoherent and owe more to a focus on attack through the destructive rhetoric of selective hyperskepticism than to a balanced evaluation of evidence towards responsible worldview choice.
e –> And, while Jesus would reach out to — and through his people on the ground, has long been reaching out to the needs of the Haitian people, he is also simultaneous reaching out to the spiritual needs of the people of Haiti.
f –> And indeed, the notion that these needs can be wedged apart as though they were opposed issues, is a blatant fallacy.
g –> As for the notion that Jesus would not care about the way Haitians respond to the truth and the right that they know or should know, this is plainly wrong.
h –> Errors and lies are destructive and enslaving, in the life of an individual, in the community and have grave eternal implications. So, Jesus’ remarks on the record are quite plain:
i –> Plain enough.

“…remarks on the Christian worldview — i.e. that embraced in the authentic, apostolic C1, new Testament en-scripturated “Faith once for all delivered to the saints” [Jude v. 3]…”
Not everyone that embraces the authentic is authentic. Just like: “: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. “; “Ye shall know them by their fruits” – Matthew 7.
What happen man, you embarrassed to paste it in and let he/she know the doing foolishness?
Well Zoe, this is Dick’s opinion of you:
“2 Timothy 2:23-26 (New International Version)
“… the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.”

Kindly notice, who is focussed on substance, and who is focussed on distractions, while insistently indulging in vulgarities.
And, I have pointed to Zoe that he should not allow such abusive behaviour by plainly empty-headed, venomous skeptics to goad him into anger.
Now, too, I assure you that were I to call ROK by names 1/10 as nasty as he now insists on attaching to me, he would predictably erupt. His hypocrisy — pardon my bluntness but only such language is now appropriate — is blatant, and needs to be corrected by someone from “his” side who has a modicum of civility.
For, plainly, he thinks it a sport to vulgarise away and namecall or demonise at Christians. (BTW, revealing the precise school of “Community Organiser” thought he is coming from. A school with some sobering connections and implications. Let this longstanding rebuke to such behaviour suffice to make my point in reply.)
Meanwhile, onlookers, had I told you ahead of time that after 855 comments, the head of an umbrella national NGO body would have NOT ONE POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION TO THIS THREAD, but would instead be indulging in the crudest forms of vulgar name-calling and distractive rhetoric, most people would have disbelieved me.
And yet, the record above is plain and irrefutable.
And, utterly revealing on the difference of animating Spirits at work.
Anyway, on the morrow, DV, we move on to further steps with the proposal on Schools of hope for Haiti, and with the tricks of the proposal writing trade.
G’day

PS: On the premise that one protects oneself but moves ahead with serious business a la Nehemiah in the face of distractive efforts and threats by the enemies of Israel . . .
My thinking as at now is that we should probably emphasise clustered schools in which a Comm Coll core unit has associated High School(s) and primary school(s), with the teachers being the key links in the network. So, the CC helps build education and technical capacity, supporting and researching on the work in the affiliated schools. All, backed up by an internet technology based network using key educational technologies such as Moodle educational content management system, wikis [good for writing learning resources], and blogs — which can serve as class presentation and discussion fora, with a version on Youtube to host video clips — any good open source non-linear editor stuff out there? EPUB e-books and the like would provide online references constituting a reference library. OLPC family PC’s — open hardware, open software, ruggedised, low power — would then serve as a common low cost adequate bang for the buck computing platform. (NB: Opening up hard and software is perfect for building technical skills for the C21 digital age.)
PPS: For whom it may concern, this is how a concordance search lists descriptive material from Proverbs on the search word “fool.”

Resemblance to too much of what has gone on above and in previosu threads at BU is NOT coincidental.
I suggest that those who read the above biblical counsel should take the warnings therein to heart — if they are wise or at least aspire to wisdom.
Mr Zoe sir,
This matter of ‘contending for the faith’ is so obvious and fundamental that I am surprised at your response.
Bush Tea is completely unimpressed with this foolishness where you people jump onto a few words here and there and then manipulate them to mean what you already believe.
You ever heard of ‘Seek and ye shall find”?
…..of ‘Knock and the door shall be opened”?
What do you think these mean? – to analyze a few sentences to death until you get them to somehow ‘say’ what you want? – using Greek, Latin and wishful thinking?
Since you like analyzing scriptures to death – I refer you to Isaiah 28, Vs 9 – 13. Brek down dat and tell we what um saying.
As ROK says above, the proof of the pudding is in the eating – not the pretty long talk about recipes.
If you are not reflecting LOVE, then you ARE ON THE WRONG TRACK….and the characteristics of love are well documented in Corinthians…. and can be easily detected – especially when the subject is placed under stress….
I feel that you are a person who would respond to well reasoned logic…
…have you noticed in the bible that when ever Jesus looses his cool it is with people who are supposed to be experts at the law and the word?
Can you recall any occasion where Jesus cuss a sinner?
…pick sense out of that.
“but would instead be indulging in the crudest forms of vulgar name-calling and distractive rhetoric, most people would have disbelieved me.”
You describe your partner well. You certainly can’t be referring to me. Where have I been vulgar and who calls people by more degrading names than your partner? What has he/she contributed to this thread?
You think you can calm me by referring to me as the head of the NGO umbrella body? Well I am not the head of any umbrella body for your information. Each NGO has a leader. BANGO provides a platform for networking and information sharing. We provide training, technical assistance, etc., to NGOs and we take up any cause that needs assistance.
So get that head of umbrella body out of your head. Arm yourself with the facts before you go spouting. Is that how you are approaching what I see you cutting and pasting in this thread?
Dictionary, why do you always assume that others used the shortened form of your handle as derogatory?
You have never accused GP of this, yet he has……..’I have not thrown you out because you cussed Dick and consigned him to the abysss. I just told you that I expect more of you, because I respect you.’
How do you know that Zoe is using the word fool as quoted in the Bible and not in a derogatory fashion?
Is it because he says so or because he says he is a Christian?
Tell you guys what, how about a truce?
Let the topic move on without RELIGION (both for and against).
Someone (not I!!) once wrote on BU that when you start arguing with a fool then you have already lost the argument! To all, think on these words, your expressed views about others and come to your own conclusions.

@Bush Tea, “This matter of ‘contending for the faith’ is so obvious and fundamental that I am surprised at your response.”
Bush Tea, you have NOT once in any of your post re Biblical matters, ‘rightly’ divided the Word of God. You are biblically incorrect, AGAIN, as you usually are; the very word rendered *contend* for the FAITH, from the Greek, ‘epagonzomai’ means ‘To carry on a CONFLICT’ contest, DEBATE, or legal suit.’ another associated Gk. word, is, ‘Agonizomai’ “To FIGHT.”
Why did Jude under inspiration of the Holy spirit, use such a STRONG word? Because of people like you et al, who ARE constantly maligning and twisting God’s Word out of context and doctrinal content, must be rebuked, hence the NEED to *CONTEND* fight, debate, for the FAITH, body of *doctrinal* truth, ONCE for all delivered to the saints. (Jude 3b).
You don’t have a clue how to correctly ‘divide’ God’s Word, wheel and come again man!
“If you are not reflectiong LOVE, then you ARE ON THE WRONG TRACK…”
“Can you recall any occasion where Jesus cuss a sinner?”
First, you wrongly understand what LOVE, true LOVE is all about! True love can be very hard at times, it has to reprove, rebuke, correct, as any loving parent has to do, if they truly LOVE their children. Like wise, a true friend will TELL you as it is, because they love you.
Now, yes, Jesus most certainly had a ‘scathing’ word for Herod, a SINNER!
Hear Jesus:
“And He said unto them, Go ye, and tell that FOX, Behold I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow…” (Luke 13: 32) emphasis added.
‘…that FOX…’ Herod Antipas IS described by Jesus as a FOX, known for its use of *cunning* deceit to achieve its aims.
Proper application of God’s Word is dependent upon proper interpreration of it. All exposition, preaching, and teaching, MUST, therefore be based on the appropriate exercise of the sound principles of Hermeneutics, Exegesis, and Biblical theology.
False Interpreters.
The Scriptures also warn and refer to another group of interpreters who ARE clearly revealed as FALSE.
In 11 Corinthians 4:2, Paul refers to those who rare GUILTY of “handlimg the Word of God deceitfully” (Amplified – “adulterate or handle *dishonestly* the Word of God”).
In Ephesians 4:2, Paul speaks of those who, in relation to DOCTRINE, use “sleight of men and CUNNING craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to DECEIVE” (Amplified – “the CUNNING and cleverness of UNSCRUPULOUS men, gamblers engaged in every shifting form of trickery in inventing ERRORS to mislead” ).
In 11 Peter 3:16, Peter also refers to these men as those who are UNLEARNED and UNSTABLE and wrest (torture on the rack) the Scriptures unto their own DESTRUCTION (Amplified – “twist and MISCONSTRUE to their own utter destruction, just as they DISTORT and misinterpret the rest of Scriptures”).
These references point out that there are those who WILFULLY and deliberately interpret the Scriptures falsely, thus damning their own souls and the souls of those who follow them. These are “ever learning and NEVER able to come to the knowledge of the truth” ( 11 Tim. 3:7).
The serious exhortation and imperative of Scripture to the true interpreter, is:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth NOT to be ASHAMED, rightly dividing the Word of truth” ( 11 Timothy 2;13) emphasis added.
Sorry, BT, you are a novice at attempting to ‘rightly’ divide His Word!
Wishful Thinking!
Chill Zoe
Maybe Rok’s “ignorant” position is not really behind you but he is catching up
to overtake and lap you & win the race.
(.. or maybe not, who knows?)
The very word BANGO an acronym, for ‘Barbados Association of None Govermental Organizations’ logically implies, an UMBRELLA organization, of other NGOs, otherwise its name, is a misnomer!
‘Each NGO has a leader,’ says the head of BANGO! That is also logical, isn’t it?
The head of BANGO, then goes on to say:
“BANGO provides a platform for networking and information sharing. We provide training, technical assistance, etc, to NGOs AND we take up any cause that needs assistance.” emphasis added.
Initially, up front, the *Head* of BANGO, states:
“Well I am NOT the head of any umbrella body for your information.”
The question is: Is BANGO, by the very term, BANGO, acronym, for BARBADOS ASSOCIATION OF NONE GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS, the *umbrella* entity it logically implies, or NOT!!??
@Kiki, Truth by definition IS absolute; regardless of who denies this fact!
Truth, does NOT require of need anyone’s approval to be absolute! It just IS so!
Therefore, the Structure of justification, (warrant) in defending any propositional *truth* claim, IS *coherence* which IS our sole criteria, principle or standard by which a thing IS judged; NOT incoherent, incongruous, rhetorical nonsense, void of any substance, as is so often witnessed here on BU!!!
Any fool can easily write rhetorical diatribe, it takes NO intellectual acumen to exercise one’s folly!
@Kiki, BTW, maybe, just maybe, your are in front in this race of ‘ignorance’ maybe, the race IS already over for you…having passed the finish line…so that it is desirable to come LAST in this race…isn’t it! Rok might very well be second…in this race…what IGNORANCE!!!

Man Zoe you are surely a candidate for high blood pressure and chronic stress
….and I would be quite surprised if you have many friends…
Chill out fuh truth!
First thing! you ever hear the bushman ‘dividing’ any word of God? … skipper BT did not even know what Exegesis was … I thought it was disease in a form of dermatitis – till you and GP start bragging bout it.
….don’t talk bout Hermeneutics, I can’t tell you what came to mind….
I suppose that they have to do something at bible school to make up the time – so wanna does learn nuff Greek and exegeses and hermeneutics and long division and thing….
All I know is that the bible says to ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened. But this is not the stuff of bible school (cause any bushman can figure that out without dividing)
….I also note that in Isaiah the question is asked;
“Whom shall he teach knowledge? and who shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are are weaned from milk and drawn from the breast.( does that sound like children ie novice unlearned in ‘the word’ etc?)
Why is this important?
read on…..
because God chose to speak with stammering lips and another tongue – “here a little bit and there a little bit”
That they may go and fall backwards and be broken and snared and taken.
Since you are the divider – Is this saying that those who will understand the truth and the true doctrine must be like children?
Is it saying that to do otherwise will result in being confused, tripped up, broken and ‘taken’?
Is this not in full sync with Jesus stating that the CHILDREN should be encouraged ‘FOR OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN’?
Can you perhaps now understand why Jesus spoke in parables SO THAT THOSE HEARING WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND HIM?
…because understanding REQUIRES that one become like a child who is prepared to ASK and be guided; to SEEK to to find; to KNOCK and be let in.
It does NOT require any dividing, no exegeses, and certainly no hermeneutics.
In fact, these techniques are GUARANTEED by your own bible’s words – to lead to failure and confusion…. which explains your stress and defensive aggression.
..feel free to check with the bushman for any additional analysis required. LOL

……………………………………………………
I am just passing thru, BT………………
I see you and I thinking along the same lines, BT.
This was exactly the point I was making before I took the last week or so hiatus from this thread.
To carry it a bit further, this is exactly what the early Reformers were fighting against, people like Zoe et al who figured that only the very learned (higher-ups?) should/could have any access to the bible. We “lesser mortals” would then have to wait for their” exegeses, and hermeneutics” in other words whatever they (interpreters) would dish out to us when they felt like. The early reformers fought with their very lives at stake so that we ALL would be able to read the Bible for ourselves and know for ourselves, of course, with the help of the Holy Spirit and a lot of prayer! Check the history books it’s their for all to read!
Hi Mr Hood,
welcome back!
I noted your position before your hiatus… that is precisely why you scared me.
..someone who actually UNDERSTAND that such knowledge is EXCLUSIVELY available as a GIFT. Not for sale, not for rent, not for lease and not via study and research…
Not for the bright sparks; not for the bookworms; not for the wealthy; not for the poor;
EXCLUSIVELY for those who become ‘like a child’…… and ASK, and SEEK and KNOCK!!!
Therefore-
The second most absolutely useless and counter productive qualification in existence must be the degree in theology….
..unless of course one needs to show off one’s Greek and hermeneutics on BU.
@ BT,
Absolutely, BT. Don’t forget though that the theology teachers and organisations have to make money too! Also, the people (preachers etc)who are going to use this theological education are going to be getting some “warm” $ in their hands. LOL I guess the hardest thing is for us to understand ‘where they coming from and where they heading”. After all, isn’t there a song that tells us that “things are a little easier once you understand”?
When the blind leads the blind………guess what happens? They both fall into a ditch!
The Bible clearly states in 2 Timothy 2:15 that believers are to STUDY and to RIGHTLY DIVIDE the Word of truth and two logical Bajans who know all there is to know comeand tell folk on BU that there is bo need to “divide the Bible”?
Who shall I believe ? The Bible? Or Bush Tea and Robin Hood?
Bush Tea and Robin Hood
Can you explain Colossians 2:15, 2 Cor 1:10 Galtians 3:24 or I Thess 4:15 for me?
@the hood, I sincerely trust that you had a restful leave of absence from BU!
On a point of order, let me say without any reservation whatsoever, that my Christian heritage, and my deep and abiding convictions, confirmed by the living reality of knowing The Lord Jesus Christ, as my personal Saviour, rest on the inviolable, historic, fact of His Word, the Scriptures, the Bible, cemented in the sealed Canon of New Testament Scripture, nothing more, nothing lest; and the Bold and courageous Reformers, Luther, Calvin, et al, who in the power of the Holy Spirit, with the Word of God, the Bible, ushered in the Light of the Glorious Gospel of the Resurrected Christ, *declaring* resolutly, without any fear, to the tyrannical bondage of the Pope and Roman Catholicism, THAT, it WAS in Apostolic times, then, during the Reformation, and currently remains, UNTIL, the visible return of The Lord Jesus Christ, SOLA SCRIPTURA: ‘Scripture Alone’ the watchword of the Reformation in its establishment of the basis for a renewed and reformed statement of Christian doctrine.
The Catholics despise me; that’s all right, if I were alive at the time of the Spanish Inquisition, I would have being BURT alive at the stake.
@ Bush Tea, Once again, you have made a mess of God’s word, taking verses entirely out of context, creating a pretext, for you own unlearned purpose. Tomorrow morning, I’ll show you why this is so.
Have a good night!
@ Zoe

TOMORROW MORNING?!?!
…wait what happen? you have to dream up these exegeses?
…Have a good night my friend.
Anon,
Bush Tea and the hood ain’t telling you to do anything! You only have to continue what you always do here….. copy and paste bovine excrement from the internet, eg, such false hoods about Einstein and try to pass it off as truth here. So continue with the good “job” you started.
Absolutely true Mr Hood, the truth DOES indeed set one free.
@ Anon
Are you the anon that comes out when GP want to cuss and ‘buse perceived adversaries? …. much like the incredible Hulk… LOL
When did Bush Tea say that there is no need to ‘divide’ the word?
Bush Tea don’t even know what that ‘divide’ means… bush tea can divide NUMBERS… heck, I can even do long divisions (you know – with BIG numbers) but bushmen do not normally divide WORDS. Closest to that would be a precis of a sentence….lol (cud dear you dealing with a bush man not MME)
If you mean to ‘study’ the word, please show where THAT was said.
Rest assured Anon, that Bush Tea’s understanding of the word is ‘UNSURPASSABLE’ since it is entirely attributed to the ultimate source… and not any mediocre bushy intellect.
Having asked and been given, Bush Tea also needed to SEEK to be able to find and to KNOCK to have doors opened. … thinketh thou not that this involves STUDY???
….the difference here SIR, is that the Horse goes BEFORE the cart…..
Looks like the windbags have come out of the woodwork er bushes.
What exactly has all this to do with the reconstruction of Haiti?
Ha hahaha
I missed you to RU

All 7 and we’ll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all

And together we’ll love through
All space and time, so don’t cry
One day all 7 will die

In her hand she holds the very key
Words of compassion, words of peace
And in the distance an army’s marching feet (1 2 3 4 – 1 2 3 4)
But behold, we will watch them fall
Onlookers:
RU has put his finger on the key problem again:
RU, sadly, we live in a Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals world, in which distraction, distortion and demonisation are a routine resort of those who do not have anything constructive to say but oppose those who do.
So, they use smelly red herrings — inlcuding here disrespectful vulgar name-calling [and it is OBVIOUS that this is wha tis at work above . . . ] — to pull attention off topic, lead away to slander-soaked strawmen, and ignite to choke, cloud, confuse, polarise and poison the atmosphere. (Observe my response tot he strategy in light of Jesus’ counsel on Planks and Sawdust in eyes, immediately following the just linked.)
It is especially sad that this destructive pattern includes the leader of a national umbrella organisation of NGOs. (And, as Zoe brought out, umbrella is precisely apt. the organisation is a confederal one not a full federal one, but it is precisely an umbrella on the local scale; as the UN is an international umbrella organisation.)
Now, returning to the issue in the main:
++++++++++++++
With what has gone before, we are now over the hump
5. Inputs:
(Identify and list the inputs required for the project: people and skills, teams/work-groups, reporting linkages, equipment, space, materials, funds, permits required, etc.)
–> Caricom, UWI (and other regional universities . . . perhaps the ACTI group), Haiti, Haitian community leaders and members, international partners
–> An awareness and activation forum can be used to mobilise a provisional executive team and partnership based board of governors, with attached experts and partners forming a matrix type project team structure (cf my SD concept paper on this)
–> the group should report to Caricom, and the council of PMs, as a major regional project, indeed a Nehemiah project. In addition, the forum should meet regularly to discuss progress, and to communicate with the Haitan, regional and international publics.
–> A major construction effort is indicated, and this will require well-chosen sites across Haiti, with a special eye to sites that can become comm coll campuses with attached business incubators, and with HS and PS divisions nearby
–> the project will also require agreement with the Haitian govt on innovations in education at all three levels: primary, secondary, comm coll
–> As a first guess we are looking at US$ 30 mn for the launch project, with an onward sustained commitment from Caricom and other partners to keep the network of schools going as a viable, in the end essentially Haitian concern. [NB: The US$ 21 billion + 900 mn should inter alia be sued to fund an endowment for education for Haiti! A small slice education tax might also be useful.)]
6. Estimated Budget:
(A summary budget based on reasonable estimates of the costs for major activities, and on contributions from the different funding (and in-kind) sources.)
–> US$ 1 mn/school x 25, plus US$ 5 mn for central and network expenses.
–> Some can be in kind, but US$ 30 mn / 7.5 mn non-Haitian Caricomers is US$ 4/ person
–> funding from inside Caricom is plainly feasible
7. Key Assumptions:
(Identify and list critical environmental conditions that may affect the achievability of the project’s goals. Some assessment of their risk and impacts on the project may prove helpful, with some brief reference to how they will be monitored and responded to as necessary.)
–> The project depends on political will and public support to make a major long term Caricom commitment to Haiti and its redevelopment and transformation
–> this will probably only be viable if the Haitian programme is a pilot for a regional transformation through education initiative. (Which is not a bad thing at all!)
–> failing regional govt commitment, since th project is inherently modular and scalable, in a context where there is a long term commitment from churches, charitable organisations etc, a scaled down form would be viable through such agencies. (And success could spark emulation . . . )
–> but there will need to be some mutually respectful compromises so that in the end we have a coherent education system.
–> thus, though political will is plainly a risky premise, the project concept is sufficiently viable that it will probably be adopted in some form by a cluster of partners
8. Outcomes, Benefits and Impacts:
–> As the schools get in on the ground the direct beneficiaries would be students, families and communities, with long term outcomes for Haiti and the wider region
–> the asocated agricultue, construciton, business incubation and community health and radio outreaches would multiply community benefits
–> the rise of an educated digitally productive generation in Haiti woudl have long term transformative effects on the Haitian economy and society
–> the participative partnership based approach will also help create a sounder governance culture for Haiti, fostering stability and sustainability
–> As Haiti provides a demonstration and testbed, Caricom as a whole (and wider regions beyond) would also begin to benefit).
–> A shift to sustainable construction would rtend to reduce adverse environametal impacts of development, and the associated reforestation and sustainable farming initiatives would move us to an improved bio-physical environment in Haiti
–> And, the stream of obvious benefits will begin rapidly, from the construction phase on. So, quick wins are built in, which will help silence critics and will build up support.
–> Modularity and digitalisaiton will enhance prospects for expansion that builds on success.
+++++++++++++
So, it is looking like this proposal is potentially decisive and beneficial, a credible big win all around.
Dictionary
PS: I have found some apparently quite useful video production software. Much of it is primarily on the Linux platform — OLPC is Linux based — but the windows versions of ZS4 [an open source video editor] and Super video converter for video file conversion] look interesting. The video element is of course a key part of good C21 education! (I am suggesting that presentation software with multimedia capability and with kiosk style “automatic” presentations that bring up videos etc, perhaps turned to Flash format, are a key way to go that will not overload educators on unaccustomed technicalities. Powerpoint and Impress are useful, the latter being open source in Open Office. An educator’s Youtube would of course be helpful.)
PPS: And in case you missed the point:
The essential proposal points are now finished, apart from a dignified invitation to Caricom etc to participate in discussion and development of a full project document and related initiative.
Sadly, at no point to date have we had significant positive contributions form anti-Christian commenters at BU. After nearly a month [the dateline ont his thread is Jan 24 and today is Feb 22] , that is sadly, deeply telling.
And, from this point, I will glance back to see if there is something constructive here, but I am essentially finished. BU is turning into a pig pen for abusive commentary, so on the wider subject I am also moving on.
–> I leave the option of intervening in future as necessary and/or invited, as I did this time around.
–> I hope that next time around, the commentary will be a little more mature and civil.
–> And BTW, the opportunity so many have just wasted to learn how to do a serious proposal, is one that there are a lot of people who have paid good money to take up.
–> So, was that pearls or pebbles or acorns on the ground . . .
PPPS: Technician, It should be plain from the fact hat Zoe provided a related exegesis earlier on, that he is using “fool” in its Proverbs and wider biblical context; which as you can see is sadly appropriate to the behaviour of too many above. GP is plainly not being abusive, but others are.
Oh yes:
Looks like GNUCASH is available cross-platform, and is of course open source and suitable for personal finance and small business accounting.
(Qbooks reportedly has something like 90+% of he accounting for small businesses market, but hat does not mean that an open source alternative would not be very very useful in an education and business incubator context. The accounting system is of course the heart of a firm’s management information system. Here, too is a report/review from a very happy user. Any body out there willing to do a Kreyol/French port of Gnucash? Any St Lucians or Dominicans or Haitians willing to take up that project?)

“First thing! you never hear bushman ‘dividing’ any word of God!…skipper BT did not ever know what Exegesis was…”
First, to attempt to interpret the Word of God, which YOU are always doing IS to ‘Divide’ it, and erroneously so, expressly SO, because, ‘…skipper BT did not EVER KNOW what Exegesis was…”
The Imperative to Correctly Interpret God’s Word.
“Study to shew thyself *approved* unto God, a workman that needeth NOT to be ASHAMED, righty *dividing* the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2: 15) emphasis added.
Here IS a categoric imperative from God’s Word, to do what? ‘Study’ Give diligence, (spoudason), First aorist active imperatrive of ‘spoudazo’, old word, as in I Thess. 2:17; Gal. 2:10. ‘To shew..” To present (parastesai). First aorist active infinitive of ‘paristemi’ as in Col. 1;22, 28. “Approved unto God…” (dokimon toi theoi). Almighty God not only commands those who He has appointed to teach His Word; BUT, “Approves” such a one, who has earnestly and diligently applied themselves to such arduous labour, As “A workman” (ergaten). See II Cor. 11:3; Phil. 3:2. “That needeth NOT to be ASHAMED” (anepaischunton). Late double compound verbal adjective. ‘Righty dividing’ Handling aright (orthotomounta).Present active participle of “orthotomeo” late and rare compound (othotomos) CUTTING STRAIGHT, not zigzagging all over the place, making STRAIGHT PATHS (hodous).
BT, no matter how much you disdain and scoff at Exegexis, Hermeutics, and proper contextual analysis of God’s Word, the above EXEGESIS of the words used by the Holy Spirit, IS what *He* had recorded in the Word of God, that HE inspired, NOT any stupid man-made nonsense!
If one is going to responsibly teach God’s Word, in order to be *approved* by HIM, and NOT to be ASHAMED, there IS no short cut, to ‘rightly’Dividing His Word!
One either Study’s to be APPROVED, or be ASHAMED!
Now, re Isaiah 28: 9-13, you say:
“Since you are the divider, is this saying that those who will understrand the truth and true doctrine must be like children? Is it saying to do otherwise will result in being confused, tripped up, broken and ‘taken’?”
“Is this not in full sync with Jesus stating that the CHILDREN should be encouraged ‘FOR OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?”
Again, BT, you have the Word of God, ALL mixed it and confused, taking verses and discources from various places, entirely out of the context, historically, as in Isaiah 28: 9-13, and seeking to link it up, with reference to the Children that Jesus spoke about.
First, the Isaiah narrative in chapter 28, verses 9-13, historically, IS dealing with ‘Woe to Ephraim and Jerusalem’.
The self-indulgent leaders despised the prophecies of Isaiah and ridiculed him with gibberish, implying that he was lecturing them with baby talk. ‘stammering lips’ (v.11); for their irreverence and stubbornness, God would send against them a foreign invader (Assyria) whose language would seem to them like gibberish; since they REFUSED God’s instruction through the prophets, a foreign conqueror would speak judgment to them in ‘another tongue’ (v.11) (Assyrian). Paul quotes this passage in I Cor. 14: 21 to explain that one use of the NT gifts of tongues and interpretation is that of a sign of warning to unbelievers.
BT, You apparently then take from Matthew 19: 13- 15, where Jesus blesses Little Children, and erroneously link this up with Isaiah 28: 9-13, which HAS no contextual connection whatsoever.
“Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hand on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.”
“But Jesus said, ‘Let te little children come to Me, and DO NOT forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” and He laid is hands on them and parted from there” (Matt. 19: 13-15).
Who Is the Greatest?
“At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, ‘Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven? Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said. ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are *converted* and become as little children, you will no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 18: 1-4).
The example Jesus used here to His disciples, of childlikeness, is that of being ‘humble’ trusting, willing to learn, in humility, (tapeinoo) ‘to make low’ to become like a child; which is required of all believers, in order to enter the kingdom of heaven.
So we have to ‘rightly’ *divide* God’s Word, always in its proper context, NOT confusing one discourse with another entirely different narrative.
2 Timothy 2: 15, is teaching the imperative of ‘Studying’ earnestly, diligently, to be *approved* unto God, so as NOT to be *ashamed* as one attempts to rightly *divide* His Word.
The discourses about little Children, teaches us humility, childlike trusting, in order to consummate the gift of eternal life in heaven.
If one does not understand how to read and study God’s Word, the Bible, in its proper context, then, as is so evident with many, all kinds of erroneous interpretations come forth, which IS the seat of SO much false doctrine being taught!
@ Zoe…..
Do Jews divide the word correctly?
Zoe
Thanks for the edification in your post above.
BT
It seems that when GP posts its a problem. When he does not post its also a problem. Now I am suposed to be a buseing GP that curses his “percieved enemies.” Again hilarious.
Instead of ridiculing the “trinity” why dont you explain the texts I asked you to help me with?
Zoe could you kindly “exegete” the scriptures I asked the all wise and all knowing BT to “divide”.
Anon….
Maybe that question is a bit difficult for Zoe..since you are always so eager to take up the baton, can you answer it?
I ask as you have stated that you are way further ahead in your search for truth, than I am.
Also, if you can, could you find another thread to reply on so as not to further hijack this one?
Onlokers:
Came by again to see how things have got on. Same old same old.
Sad, really.
G’day again

PS: T, re: “Do Jews divide the word correctly?” ANS: Sometimes, and sometimes not — just as is so for the rest of us. (For instance, the NT apostles were . . . Jews, and there are Messianic Jews [or more than one type!], atheistical Jews, occultist Jews [a few of whom show up in the NT . . . including the sons of a priest last seen running from the house of a madman in Ac 19], even Buddhism-following or new Age-influenced Jews. In short, your attempt to address Jews monolithically — a highly diverse group theologically! — reveals a stereotypical behaviour that you need to address.)
Forgive me David…
@ Dictionary…
I asked a question to Zoe or Anon. It was a (to ignorant me) a simple question. Yet still you want to tell me what is in my mind and my thoughts …just who do you think yo are?
How can you come to this conclusion?…’In short, your attempt to address Jews monolithically — a highly diverse group theologically! — reveals a stereotypical behaviour that you need to address.)…Just so?!?
There is a reason I asked that question and though you reply answered it to a point, the end comments just shows me how you think because YOU sure dont know my thoughts.
I dont need to address anything because quite frankly, religion , Christianity et al, added to the behaviour of Christians on this blog has really reinforced a decision I came to years ago.
You really do think too much of yourself Dictionary…..and that is sad.
Dictionary
there are also criminal and fraudulent jews
just like criminal and fraudulent gentiles
i.e. right and wrong individuals in all races and creeds
Had I asked if Mormons, SDAs or JW divide the word correctly, would you have made the same comment?
I doubt it but thanks for proving my point to some extent.
@Anon, Feb 21, 2010 @ 10:04PM, Further to your request of BT and Robin Hood, to kindly explain Col. 2:15; 2 Cor. 1:10; Gal. 3:24 or I Thess. 4:15, the following is an exegesis of Colossians 2:15.
Colossians 2:15.
“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public specticle of them, truimphing OVER them in it.”
Exegesis:
‘Having disarmed’ or ‘Having put off from Himself’ (apekdusamenos). Only here and 3:9 and one MS. Both ‘apoduo’ and ‘ekduo’ occur in ancient writers. Paul simply combines the two for expression of complete removal. “He made a public specticle of them’ ‘edeigmatisen’. First aorist active indicative of ‘deigmatizo’ late and rare verb from ‘deigma’ (Jude 7), as an example of. The publicity is made plain by ‘openly’ (en parresiai). “Triumphing over them on it’ (Thriambeusas autous en autoi). On the Cross of Jesus the triumph was won.(Word Pictures in The New Testament, Vol. IV, p. 495)
Taking the wider context of verses 13 through 15, Grounds of Authority, Conflict and The Kingdom.
Jesus Christ’s triumph over SIN and evil powers was accomplished in “it” – that is, in the Cross. The text, joined to and studied contextually besides others (Eph. 2:13-16; Gal. 3:13, 14; 2 Cor. 5:14-17; Rom. 5:6-15; and Rev. 12: 10, 11), firmly establishes Jesus’ suffering, shed blood, sacrificial death, and resurrection triumph as the ONLY adequate and available grounds for *ransom* from SIN, reconciliation to God, redemption from slavery, and restoration. The Cross of Jesus Christ, IS the SOLE hope and means for full reinstatement to relationship with God and rulership under Him – to “reign in life” (Rom. 5:17). To avoid presumption or imbalance regarding the message and ministry of the present power of the kingdom of God, we must focus on and regularly review two points; the source and grounds for the delegation of such authority and power. 1) God’s soveriegn authority and Almighty power is the source from which mankind derives any ability to share in the exercise of God’s kingdom power, 2) But even more important, seeing sinful, fallen man had lost all claim to his earthly privilege of rulership under God, let us remember the grounds upon which all kingdom privilege or power may be restored, and by which such spiritual ministry with authority may be excercised (Matt. 11: 12/Luke 16: 16) (Taken from Kingdom Dynamics, Spirit Filled Life Bible, NKJV, pp. 1816, 1817).
@ Bush Tea
Matt:
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
…………………………………………………..
I fully expect the “hermeneutics & exegeses” to be aimed full blast at me now with a completely opposite rendering!! So take it away fellas……..!
Now this reference was used earlier by a “BU trinity” member to scoff and scorn at the LDS church & members. However, is it not, instead, warning us to be wary of those like the “BU trinity” and now Anon as well, who will come to us to deceive us with their high & mighty big words (hermeneutics, exegeses etc), supposedly vast intellect, theological schooling & lord knows what ever other pieces in their arsenal.
Like you, Bush Tea, I too believe John 14:26:
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Now I am very well aware that Jesus was speaking to his apostles when He used these words but can we not also understand Him to also include us as well. Are we not advised to liken the scriptures unto ourselves? Aren’t the scriptures meant to be a guide to ALL of us (including rich, poor learned, unlearned etc, etc) and not just those highly educated, well versed intellectuals with all those so called “letters” after their names who can then choose to let us have the crumbs as they wish because they are more knowledgable about the scriptures? Isn’t this for which the early Reformers gave up their very lives to prevent?
BT I can go on and on with reasonings but with the constraints of time and limited space in this forum I prefer not to. As a matter of fact, I am really worn out ” butting my head against brick walls” as the case seems to be here. I guess it’s time for me to say enough is enough as David suggests. I will be one of the “Onlookers” according to one of the “trinity”
These are perilous, dangerous, evil and wicked times we are living in; the era of the close of this AGE, as witnessed by the signs Jesus said to look for, all converging at an alarming rate.
Therefore, the mandate given in the Word of God, the Bible IS:
Preach the Word!
“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom.” (2 Timothy 4:1)
To do WHAT?
“Preach the WORD! Be ready IN season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” (v.2)
Why the imperative that this must be done?
“For the time will come when THEY will NOT endure SOUND doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, THEY will heap up for themselves teachers, and they will TURN ears AWAY from the TRUTH and be turned aside to fables.” (vv.3, 4)
“But you be watchful in ALL things, endure affliction, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” (v. 5)
Emphasis added throughout.
As Luther said, so do I, ‘So help me God, I can do none other.’
Exegesis:
“I charge you’ (diamarturomai), Rather, “I testify.” See I Thess. 4:6. See I Tim. 5:21 for this verb and appeal to God and Christ. ‘Who shall judge’ (tou mellontos krinein). “The one going or about to judge” ‘The quick and the dead” (zontas kai nekrous).
‘Preach the word’ (keruxon ton logon). First aorist IMPERATIVE of ‘kerusso.’ For “the word” used absolutely, see I Thess. 1:6; Gal. 6:6. “Be instant in season, out of season” (epistethi eukairos akairos), note, NO conjunction ‘and’ in the Greek, Second aorist (ingressive) active IMPERATIVE of ‘ephistmi’ (intransitive use), “take a STAND,” “STAND upon it or up to it,” “Carry on,” “STICK to it,” . The two adverbs are like a proverb or a play (pun) on the word ‘kairos.’ There are ALL sorts of seasons (kairos), some difficult (chalepoi, 3:1), some easy (eukairei, I Cor. 16: 12). ‘Reprove’ (elegxon). First aorist active IMPERATIVE of ‘elegcho’. “Bring to reproof,” Eph. 5:11. ‘Rebuke’ (epitimeson). First aorist active IMPERATIVE of ‘epitimao’, to give honor (or blame) to, to chide. Common in the Gospels (Luke 17:3). ‘Exhort’ (parakaleson). First aorist active IMPERATIVE of ‘parakaleo’, common Pauline word.
“A time when’ (kairos hote). One of the “akairos’ (out of season) times. “Will not endure” (ouk anexontai). Future middle (direct) of ‘anecho.’ “Will NOT hold themselves back from.” (Col. 3:13). ‘Having itching ears’ (knethomenoi ten akoen). Present middle (causative) participle of ‘knetho’ late and rare form of the Attic ‘knao’, to scratch, to tickle, here only in N.T. “Getting the ears (the hearing, ten akoen) tickled. The Vulgate has ‘prurientes. Cf. the Athenians (Acts 17:21). Clement of Alexandria tells of speakers tickling (knethontes) the ears of those who want to be tickled. This is the temptation of the merely “popular” preacher, to furnish the latest tickle.
“Will turn away their ears” (ten akoen apostrepsousin). Future active old verb ‘apostrepho’. See I Cor. 12:17 for the use of ‘akoe.’ The stopped their ears and rushed at Stephen in Acts 7: 57. “Will turn aside” (ektrapesontai). Second future passive of ‘ektrepo’. They prefer “MYTHS” to “the TRUTH.” as some today turn away to “humanism,” secularism, materialistic evolution, etc, etc, or any other fad that will give a new monentary thrill to their itching ears and morbid minds. (Word Pictures in The New Testament, Vol. IV, pp. 629, 630) emphasis added.
So help me God, I can do none other, here on this thread, or any other; as I have a mandate from God’s Word, whenever, and wherever to do just that!
