President Barack Obama Elect
President Barack Obama Elect

If we are to judge by the results of our unscientific poll, Obama will be the winner of the USA 2008 Presidential election with over 400 electoral votes. After careful analysis we are prepared to say that Democrat Presidential hopeful Barack Obama will win with 300+ Electoral votes.

It has been an amazing campaign for several reasons. As the world watches, the United States of America seems set to catapult a man of colour into the White House. When it does happen the world maybe changed forever.

Who will be the next POTUS?

1) John McCain
2) Barack Obama

My wife, children, and my self are going to Washington DC for the presidential inauguration on January 20th, 2009.

  2. ru4real

Tell me, are you fa real?… Blah, blah. boo hoo… I am sooo sorry…

  3. Hello Everyone, I am having an OBAMA DAY. I am only thinking of our President, and wondering what he is doing and thinking. I wish I could ask him how he feels. I wonder what Michelle is doing. I am just happy, ah have my President and no one can touch me now. I am cutting out pictures of President OBama, Michelle and the girls from the newspapers for my scrap book. having fun. Bajan in Brooklyn, have fun in Washington DC. It will be joyous. Ace Mr. Thompson having Guyanese in him is old news, I always knew that, but so what. Mr. Thompson is erudite and a very elegant man, and maybe should be our leader in Guyana.

  4. ru4real // November 5, 2008 at 11:23 am

Its great that Africans are happy that Obama is President .
but Mama Africa – or in this case Daddy Africa didnt do that much for this son of theirs.

    *****************

Well said, ‘4real’, however, u can trust the Africans to claim the credit!! What a load of sh*tes!!

  5. The fact that he is Black makes his achievement one for the world to applaud. Some of the diatribe above lacks relevance and is inappropriate given the celebration at hand.

  6. Awright, awright I know you referring to me David. Well sorry but I begged to differ and I did. Applaud all you want, celebrate if you must, but know that there is no dawn of anything. To those who may criticise Africa, a quick glance at Obama’s father’s short history will quickly show where his academic genius and stand-up nature comes from.

  7. Actually you weren’t refering to me. I wish that you were tho.

  8. Yesterday was a beautiful day!

History has been made! Some said it could not be done. Some were wrong.

I am hopeful the entire “human race” will build upon this.

    (IMHO; FWTAIW.)

  9. If he runs the county as well as he did his campaign, I’d say we have many good things to look forward to!

  10. @Technician and ST

You may be correct but you should stick to the big picture. A win for Obama is aspirational to people all over the world that all is possible.
    —————————————————————————-
    @ David….
I saw the big picture from the time I read and watched anything relating to MLK , Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and from reading the speeches on various topics by HIM Haile Selassie I.
I am happy and also inspired by what has been achieved by Obama…forgive me if I dont do cart wheels but as I have said before …his policies concern me. After all the hype…we still have to live.

  11. OK. Let us do this…

@Technician: Could you please be *very* specific with regards to which of Obama’s “policies concern [you].”

Are you concerned with (gasp) “Socialism”?

Does this extend to socialist medicine and heath-care? Taxation? Natural resource rights? (Please note that these positions argue that everyone is equal.)

Are you arguing that those who are citizens of a country should not be equally beneficial to the upside of the natural resources therein?

Are you arguing that those who find themselves ill should only find themselves under care if they are rich (and can pay for the care they receive)? (The opposite position is that the weaker die. So sad… (More for us!!!))

    @Technician: Please do tell?

@David: Are we to understand that you are supporting Technician’s position?

  12. My position is does not involve Obama’s pigmentation at all.

It is irrelevant to any civilised person.

Let us celebrate the fact that when people of different backgrounds fall in love and produce children who by necessity have a different take on the “colour divide” the child can succeed by being free of these outdated shackles, just because they love both parents and show the way to success is not apartheid, but one world. one love.

Not just Obama, but Lewis Hamilton. Bob Marley and dare I say our own PM.

Let that be the message that we take from his victory, not race, because he is as much black as he is white, but with his mixed parentage he has been able to raise himself above the partisan divisions, and appeal to the broad American electorate.
The majority of whom are educated and see hope in his election, not colour.

  13. @Technician

This is our point exactly. While policies will be parochial for all the obvious reasons does not diminish the aspirational aspect to his election to the White House for people all over the world.

  14. OH HAPPY DAY!

  15. ^^Lol,I thought the title President of the United States would have sent that message.

  16. @ David…..
I do understand. That in itself is my point.

    @ Chris…..

#1….if you are going to ask and answer the question…..why bother asking? Do you love to see yourself type so much??

My concern on Obama’s policies are not even about the issues you drum up. Actually my main one is about the offshore sector and his plans for it. Do you see what this can mean for hundreds of people on Harbor Road?

Another point is the fact that he won Florida…..is the Cuban vote going to have any influence on him regarding Cuba and the ridiculous embargo that successive Presidents have maintained?

    What about the Jewish vote?
Would this have any influence on opinion on the Palestinian people?
He says he wants to bring about change, which means he would have to do things different. I am just concerned as to how these issues will be addressed, knowing how strong the lobby on these two points are by these interest groups.
Those are but a few of my concerns Chris.

  17. FYI…..I admire, respect and salute Barack Obama for what he has accomplished.

  18. @Chris

We wanted to make sure that Technician understands that Obama, like Presidents before him, is focused on ensuring the well being of Americans and protecting its borders and geopolitical interest.

Somehow we feel that his priority concerns are not divorced from how he administers foreign policy.

  19. @David and Technician.

I’m glad to understand where you are (and are not) coming from.

    The power of the rhetorical…

  20. Congratulations to President Barack Obama !
    uniting the world

  21. Two idiots today, Mark Forde and Stedson Babble referred to Obama as the “Leader of the Free World”. Quasi -Americans they should emigrate, yah know migrate away…

  22. I cried and I could not fall asleep for a long time. All I was doing was thinking of my president elect Barack Obama, Michelle and the girls. Michelle rocks, as the young people here are saying. In fact the white news co- anchor on the news here said, his 11 year twin boys have bids on our first daughters, Sacha and Malia, and then the black lady news co-anchor said her five year old son also has bids on the first daughters. Well as I said I could die right now, but the Lord has to spare my life to see President Obama do his eight years in office, and the girls graduate from high school and go to university. I wonder if they will go up the hill to Howard, or attend Harvard.

I want to thank every one who voted for Barack Obama our next president, everyone. And I want to mention one special lady who have helped along the way. That special lady is Miss Grace Lee Boggs. Grace Lee is 95 years old and lives in Detroit and was part of the oragnic movement with her late husband Jimmy. The James worked along side CLR James and the great luminaries of the day. Anyway, Grace Lee is Chinese American, but is part of our beloved community. We love you Grace Lee, and I am sure Jimmy is smiling down at us.

President Jagdeo of Guyana was the first leader in our area to send congratulatory greetings to President Obama from the Gov’t and People of the Republic of Guyana. President Jagdeo endorsed President Obama which is unsual for a foreign leader to do, so I want to thank our leader President Jagdeo for his endorsement and encouraging our people in the states to vote for Presdient Obama. And lastly this moring at work the little Mexican American aid comes, and the first thing she says to me us yuh happy, I say yes, then she tells me that her husband is part African from Honduras. I said oh, she says yes, I say well lets all have an Obama day. I am so happy. I am having an OBAMA night here.

  23. Hi Asiba-The Buffalo Soldier, I love that name and the song too. Hi.

  24. To prove he’s on the level Barack Obama should today promise in his inauguration speech he’ll order the Guantanamo Bay prison closed and announce long prison terms for any American practising torture.

  25. I meant to say the Boggs’ worked along side CLR James, Sorry,

  26. Here ya go sarahpalin…

I’ll bet you Guy$ 1,000,000.000 that that does not happen

  27. Who is Vera Baker ???

  28. Technician // November 5, 2008 at 8:59 pm

FYI…..I admire, respect and salute Barack Obama for what he has accomplished.

    ********************

Tech, I know it’ll surprise u that I claim he has n’t achieved that much, yet!! He’s only now embarking on the road to achieve, anything!!

I would n’t expect u to see that, though!!

  29. An extract from Obama’s autobio, long , but very interesting to anyone still unsure of his early life and his Kenyan roots.

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article5092967.ece

  30. @199…..

You may be starting your count from now, after the election but my count started from him being a senator all the way up to now. The fight with Hillary Clinton, then McCain, to being the President elect.
It is a long journey but He made his first step long ago.
……I wouldnt expect you to see that though. 🙂

  31. The 3 0r 4 days the earth shook
    1. President elect Barack Obama’s victory
    2. The day Rev Dr Martin Luther King died
    3. The day Sir Frank Worrell died
    4. The day President Kennedy was assassinated
    O G Butler

    PS
Some one asked me what about the day of the man on the moon? That is another “Secret of the universe experiment” aka another Tower of Babel. See Barbados Advocate Letters Fri 3 Oct 08

  32. President Obama’s victory lets B. C Pires off the hook – only for now!

  33. ANYBODY KNOW VERA BAKER IS ???

  34. GYD’s to pay a bet with the vacuous SarahPalin! Interesting! I don’t know of any Vera Baker, could she be the cousin of Anita Baker or granddaughter of Josephine Baker. I know this though she is no Michelle Robinson Obama, ah know dat fuh sure.

  35. Man leave me alone… What happened took place a long time ago. Leave me out of it. I don’t have any underwear stored away with DNA material if it is of any importance to you. Go away!

  36. You out of it Vera Baker, and I might add, out of line with your foolishness. The President has a lovely wife, in fact a reading American young people saying, “Michelle Rocks” plus he has two adorable daughters. And the only thing that happened to you was in your dreams. For Michelle is the love of his life. You keep on, keeping on, dreaming Miss Thing, wuh yuh name again, oh Vera Baykuh, for that is all you will have of President Barack Obama, a dream.

Hello Barbadosland, any word yet when Mount Hillaby will officially be known as Mount Obama.

  37. And even if you had underwear stored, the only DNA on it, would be your own.

  38. And even if you had underwear stored, the only DNA on it, would be your own.

  39. SarahPalin, Now that you have lost the elections, are you going to build a palin around your house in Alaska? My advice to you is to enroll your husband, the first dud of Alaska in Wasilla High School so that he get his hig school diploma. You need to encourage Levi, your gandbaby daddy to stay in high school, and lastly, you yourself can do with some post teritary education. Enroll in a public speaking class, since a lot of us are not Joes Six Packs or Hickey Mums.

  40. Anybody hear Bimbro????

The thought of a Black President, not to mention one with African roots must have been too much for him to bear.
    Poor soul……

  41. Technician
Yah right !!!!!!!. He’s probably still out celebrating.

  42. When I see Barrack Obama and reflect on his life for some reason I often think of the great Russian writer Alexandra Pushkin. Some say the greatest ever Russian writer, at least Dostoevsky believed he was. He even quoted Gogol’s remark that “Pushkin was an extraordinary, and perhaps unique manifestation of the Russian spirit”, and added, he was too ” a prophetic one.”

You might ask what is the link, Pushkin was proud of both sides of his family.

He wrote: ” lack of respect for one’s ancestors is the first sign of immorality.”

His fathers parents were typical Russian, but his maternal great-grand father was black..from Africa. He also became a Russian General.

  43. @ Scout…..

Not Bimbro……first Usain Bolt becomes a world champion…then Lewis Hamilton dominates and becomes the youngest ever world champion…..now Obama becomes the 44th POUS…..man Scout, I dont know if Bimbro could handle all this ya know.
All these men Black and you know how he feels about Africans and Jamaicans.

    Earth calling Bimbro…come in Bimbro!!

  44. I live in Martinique now and I learned to speak French fluently. I have never said anything about anybody other than what I know. Don’t hate me, hate the paparazzi and the rags… I hope one day they would let me back into the US, my home.

  45. BIMBRO's Brother Avatar
    BIMBRO’s Brother

You idiots don’t get out much

  46. RLMAO……..lol…lol….we are always out…we live in BIM.

  47. Yes Vera I use to see Martinque on a clear day from my house in Guyana Stay there, I am sorry you speaking French now because that means you might decide one day to pick yourself and row to Guyane (Cayenne) then of course you might be tempted to come to Guyana. We have good relations with President Obama and we just want it to remain that way, so stay in Marintique.

  48. The grand Prince of Liechentenstein (sp) is married to a African lady from Panana. She is a bit older than he and they have some nice children. Isn’t a high up official in Iceland wife is an African lady. I read that from some blg around this area.

  49. Vera we can meet up in Guyana girl, climb Mount Obama, the highest peak in all Guyana at 10,000 feet on a clear day we can see America and maybe even President Barack Obama and that would put you at ease
