Slavery is illegal in most countries but it is still being tolerated. The main type being tolerated is sex-slavery. Sex-slaves are forced into prostitution and into making pornographic videos so their ‘owners’ can get paid.

According to the United Nations organization for migration, Barbados became a transit location for sex-slaves passing through our ports by 2010 [Exploratory Assessment of Trafficking in Persons in the Caribbean Region. International Organization for Migration, 2010. p.5].  That landed us on the Tier 2 Watch List in the Trafficking in Persons Report (TiP) for the first time.  By 2011, we became a consumer of child sex-slaves who were: (i) brought into Barbados and (ii) raised in Barbados [TiP, 2011].

Like the traders of our enslaved foreparents, the Government benefits from the taxes modern slave-traders pay as they force their victims through our ports. If we cared about sex-slaves being trafficked through our ports, that is exactly where we would help the victims and stop the slavers – like other countries that take this crime seriously.

PRETENDERS.

There are some countries that facilitate the lucrative sex-slavery trade and do not care who knows about it. There are other countries who want the financial benefits of sex-slavery but do not want to tarnish their reputations. So, they only pretend to do something about it.

Some spend years doing: educational lectures, sensitization workshops, awareness training, planning meetings, legislative changes and a host of such activities. But they never charge, prosecute or convict a single person despite them operating in plain sight.

BARBADOS AND SEX-SLAVERY.

A country that does not prosecute slavers advertises to the world that sex-slavery is tolerated. Our commitments to do better were rewarded by being taken off the Tier 2 Watch List in 2014. In 2016, Barbados passed the Trafficking in Persons Prevention Act (TIPP) to show the world that we were serious about prosecuting slavers – and helping victims.

Every person who plans, transports, or assists the trafficking of persons within Barbados, or across our borders, is liable to a $1M fine and/or a 25-year prison sentence [TIPP, Section 3]. If the victim is a child, then the slaver is liable to a $2M fine and/or life imprisonment [TIPP, Section 4]. The courts may order that restitution be paid to victims of sex-slavery.

If a slaver takes the victim’s passport or airline ticket, they are liable to a $250,000 fine and/or 20 years imprisonment [TIPP, Section 5]. If a company is involved, then the company is liable to a $5M fine [TIPP, Section 12]. Consent is not a defence, neither is the victim’s past sexual behaviour [TIPP, Section 5]. There is no good reason to enslave another person.

ASSISTANCE.

In Barbados, victims are to receive: protection, housing, education, counselling, legal assistance, medical assistance, living expenses and assistance getting to a safe destination [TIPP, Section 18]. They can also live and work in Barbados for the duration of the prosecution of their enslavers [TIPP, Section 19].

Such laws should signal to slavers that Barbados is too risky a place to traffic persons. However, an opposite signal appears to have been sent. The slavers take their victims through our ports with impunity, knowing that they will never be prosecuted – because they know how pretenders behave.

Despite excellent legislation, our refusal to enforce it to rescue child sex-slaves and punish the slavers landed us on the Tier 2 Watch List in 2019 [TIPR, 2019]. We remained there for three years and were upgraded to Tier 2 in 2022 [TIPR, 2022] because we appeared to be doing something. Now we find ourselves back on the Tier 2 Watch List [TIPR, 2025] because despite appearances, we did nothing meaningful.

BARBADOS TOURISM INDUSTRY.

If we cared about the reputation of our tourism industry, the least that we could have done was to install large posters in the arrivals’ section of our ports. The posters should clearly inform victims of their rights and slavers of their liabilities. Despite this advice being offered multiple times over the past five years, it was not done.

So, what have we, the descendants of enslaved persons, done about child sex-slavery in our generation? We did two important things: (i) we demanded our right to access pornography on the Internet, which kept other children enslaved and (ii) we gave our children smart devices with no pornographic filters, which introduced our children to the dark world of child sex-slavery.

  1. For a current slave who poses as a person of higher miseducation these interminable pleadings or extremely specious allegations should at least be accompanied by a single example. A single citation independently sourced.

More appropriately, by solid evidence to demonstrate a culture of actual child slavery in Barbados. Instead weeee are only to be presented with a litany of international and national efforts to make illegal such a criminal practice. This should have told the writer that Barbados is largely part of the legislative frameworks pushed by its practices elsewhere.

To equate such a circumstance to chattle slavery exemplifies the writer’s lack of any understanding about both. To locate a marginal cultural tendency with that which preceded capitalism, as the widely accepted national and international operating principle, goes to a mismatching of the orders of magnitude at base.

All the writer has given us are a set of allegations, hear–say, blandishments, no doubt to exorcise some perceived need to minister. And readers are to respond to such a tale with heartfelt emotion when presented by a man whose every instinct points in the direction that chattle slavery delivered him the “goodness” of Whiteness.

  2. 1 IN 200 PEOPLE ON EARTH IS A SLAVE IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER SAYS AN OPINION PIECE IN THE GUARDIAN – #SeeBelow:

    https://www.theguardian.com/news/2019/feb/25/modern-slavery-trafficking-persons-one-in-200

Another great piece, my dear brotha, dealing with a serious subject that most would simply swipe over to the next page, given the magnitude of it import…

There’s no denying that this is a very profound and complex issue – where it draws a correlation between the historical narrative of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and modern-day sex trafficking. This is not about equating the two in every historical facet or detail, but about identifying parallel patterns in their systems, mechanisms, and underlying psychology…

The correlation lies in the fact that both are systems of commercialized human bondage that treat human beings as disposable commodities for economic gain!!!

The dimensional timestamp is almost “PROPHETIC” given the 1600s (17th Century) Transatlantic Slave Trade – right through to 2025 (21st Century) – find the seeds of such a human monstrosity, that (after the 400 years) has produced the “STINKING FRUIT” of “MODERN-DAY SEX TRAFFICKING”, in an age that men claim to be “ENLIGHTENED” – where as Scripture opined in Rev 18: 13, they “TRADE IN THE SOULS OF MEN”!!!

Clearly, the “ECONOMIC DRIVERS” of postmodern capitalism is still based on “DEHUMANIZATION” of God’s creatures – “HUMAN_CAPITAL_INTENSIVE_SEXUAL_INDUSTRIALIZATION; where the “BREEDING-FARMS” are still hinged upon the “LUST* 4 FILTHY MONEY” – that enslaves human beings, legally defined as “CHATTEL” property, to be bought, sold, & insured, in an contract of commodification!!!

The economies of “MODERN-WESTERN-EMPIRES” depend on it. A highly profitable, illicit industry; where victimized, incompostable “FLESH & BONES” are treated as reusable commodities to be sold repeatedly @ the touch of a blue-light, touch-screen!!!

A 2014 ILO report estimated it generates some $99 BILLION* annually!!!

THE LOVE OF MONEY – THE ROOT, BARK, BRANCHES, FRUIT & LEAVES OF ALL THE EVIL UPON THE EARTH

The “SLAVERS” paradigm shift into Africa began this “EVIL CONCUPISCENCE” – where vulnerability, coercion & the predatory targeting of gullible populations, indemnified through warfare, kidnapping, and the manipulation of local conflicts by outside “EUROPEAN” interests – MAKING THE ALBINO-CENTRIC PALESKIN MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL TH EVIL IN THE WORLD IN THE LAST 1000 YEARS”!!!

Today’s predatory targeting of vulnerable, poor populations – sees (runaways, impoverished refugees, & marginalized communities) created through deception, false promises, romantic lures, and debt bondage!!!

400 years of “VIOLENCE” & “SYSTEMIC CONTROL” – relied on brutal physical and psychological terror: WHIPPINGS, BRANDING, SEPARATION OF FAMILIES, and the constant threat of death to suppress resistance. This reliance on brutal physical and psychological terror resulted in “RAPE, BEATINGS, CONFINEMENT, DRUG ADDICTION, CONFISCATION OF DOCUMENTS & PSYCHOLOGICAL MANIPUALTION” that created a climate of dependency & fear (THEN & NOW)!!!

Transportation routes like the “MIDDLE PASSAGE” were complex routes across the Atlantic, involving ships, financiers, and ports. Today, those same complex, clandestine global trafficking routes use planes, cars, & boats, often “SMUGGLED HUMAN CARGO” across multiple borders, facilitated by corrupt officials & fraudulent documents!!!

Men justified the legal & social framing of the “EVIL TRADE” in “AFRIKAN SOULS” as something bequeathed by “ALMIGHTY YAH HIMSELF”!!! Such spurious legalities and socially sanctioned “SLAVE SLOP” by European powers – justifying “NASTY, STINKING RACIST IDEOLOGIES”, (e.g., “CURSE OF HAM”), that framed the AFRIKAN* as subhuman!!!

Now in the “ANTITYPICAL AGE” – though illegal and universally condemned by International Law, but often poorly enforced – we witness the justification by patriarchal ideologies that frame women and children as disposable objects for male “DEBASED” consumption!!!

Such intergenerational trauma has created a legacy of systemic racism, economic disenfranchisement, & deep psychological trauma that persists for the descendants of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade et al. With this kind of intergenerational P.T.S.D (POST TRAUMATIC SLAVERY DISORDER) has created severe, lifelong psychological trauma -(learned helplessness, depression, addiction) in survivors, impacting their ability to reintegrate and form healthy relationships even in 2025!!!

The important distinctions, though (NUANCE* is CRUCIAL*) – for while the correlations are stark, it is vital to acknowledge the differences:

The legal status of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade was a state-sanctioned pillar of the global “NORTH”, European economies – “SEX TRAFFICKING” is a criminal enterprise operating outside the law across both North & South!!!

The hereditary status of slavery meant that often children were born into a lifetime of bondage – many dying before they became adults, but while the trauma of trafficking is intergenerational, the condition itself is not legally inherited!!!

So while the scale & duration of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade spanned centuries, involving the forced migration of an estimated some 50 million people – modern sex-trafficking, while massive in scale, operates differently and over a shorter, though still devastating, timeframe for the vulnerable, individual victims!!!

    HERE’S A FUNDAMENTAL TRUTH

This correlation reveals a chilling axiom: whenever human beings can be legally or practically redefined as commodities, systems of extreme exploitation will emerge to profit from them!!!

Understanding the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade helps us recognize the same patterns of economic incentive, systemic coercion, and dehumanizing ideology in modern sex trafficking. This historical perspective is not just an academic exercise; it is a crucial tool for building more effective strategies to combat modern slavery by targeting its root systemic structures, not just its symptoms!!!

    LET ME BE CLEAR:

To change the inherent nature of men is beyond the reach of mortal man!!! “ALMIGHTY YAH” in all His Wisdom, Power, Might & Glory has been at it for almost 6000 years & He has had to allow men to run their own course & their own race – for it all to end in abysmal failure!!!

HUMANS CAN ONLY COURSE CORRECT WHEN THEY PURPOSE TO DO JUST THAT – BEYOND THAT UNENVIABLE CONDITION, NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE – #Until

    #ThyKingdomCome

    #ThyWillBeDone

    #SemperFidelis

  3. Fools seldom differ, as now!

Between you too, not a single case of child-sex slavery in Barbados could be cited. One plus one therefore equals zero.

One fool has been here for years talking all kinds of long-winding, almost esoteric, foolishness mainly from cut and pasted sites which seem to be self-animating. Mercifully, weee suggest it goes unread, even now.

Both your judgement and that of the ignorant writer, even the Guardian too, go against the perponderance of scholars working in this field. Generally, they see chattel slavery as a departure from anything which has happened before OR afterwards. Thus reparations claims!

However, two assholes here would have us believe that there are no substantial differences between chattel slavery and vestiges of human subjugation still exiting today, as defined by the West. Just like how some others here equate indentureship and chattel slavery or forms of apprenticeship found in some societies with chattel slavery along an irrational continuum. The Guardian as well, has long departed from its history with its lack of sophistication when considering these matters.

This line of foolishness is the province of the amateur, both. Those who have no history in defending the false conclusions often made within the presence of their brain space.
