Many are following the breaking story in the United States of America the decision of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to file articles of impeachment against Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Say what you will about the world’s sole super power, it is a country that allows nothing to go unchallenged. There are learnings for Barbados with the long awaited new Constitution stuck in draft.

Articles of impeachment filed against two US Supreme Court

Another matter of interest is the battle for the presidency between a septuagenarian and an octogenarian, Donald Trump is 78 years old and Joe Biden 81. Obviously Biden should be at home sitting on a recliner sipping cocoa and narrating his memoirs. Instead he, like minority Leader of the Senate Mitch McConnell continue to compromise government by refusing to demit office given poor health.

#speechless

Unfortunately although Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records by US courts, he remains qualified to run for the office of President of the United States of America. The blogmaster does not have the brain capacity to comprehend why the law would allow a convicted citizen to run for the highest office.

The dilemma for voters may come to a case of “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe”.

How does this relate to Barbados? We need to file against a few judges sitting on the Barbados bench. If Barbadians refuse to participate in government, we will end up with political candidates not worthy. Are we there yet?

Standby world!

    Lies, lies, lies.

    Some people have no shame.

What happens to a liar when he dies?

    He lies still.

  2. This is interesting!!

  3. This also is interesting and explains the delay.

“A local law enforcement officer climbed to the roof and found Crooks, who pointed the rifle at the officer. The officer then retreated down the ladder, and the gunman quickly fired toward Trump, the officials said. That’s when U.S. Secret Service gunmen shot him, the officials said.”

  4. These are the lunatics created by the media and their hate.

  5. John Knox has my sympathy.

  6. The Twitter account of the Trump supporter who was killed at the rally has revealed a horrible racist piece of trash.

In other news, water is wet.

  7. Well, Jackass Smith can appeal all the way to the Supreme Court before Clarence Thomas!!!!!!!!

The last time he went there he lost 8-0, and it was not 9-0 only because one of the justices recused themselves.

No need to invoke the Presidential Records Act!!

  8. Am I good or am I good?

With no formal legal training I have predicted the outcomes of all the Trump cases so far.

Big Fanny will be tossed, Alvin Bragg will be tossed and Jean Carroll will be tossed.

I can’t charge as a lawyer but if I had studied it and qualified I would be a billionaire, even without the judgment for $269 million.

I is a real Guinea Gog!!

  9. A few days ago I commented that Clarence Thomas wrote a separate opinion in his concurrence with the majority in the Trump immunity case in which he questioned whether the appointment of Jack Smith as special prosecutor in the documents case was legal. That was a “nudge nudge wink wink” to Cannon to dismiss the case and “we” at the SC will back you in any appeal.

This is a man whose wife was front and centre and whose fingerprints were all over the attempt to overturn the election and he refused to recuse himself from cases arising from those attempts. I remember him being the only Justice who wanted to hear appeals arising from lower court judges that ruled against Trump in his election fight.

The US SC doesn’t have to answer to anyone, no wonder the US public’s confidence in it is at an all time low.

  10. @Sargeant

We have started to hear chatter about another civil war in what must be the most polarized country in the world.

    Stay tuned!

  11. The most serious mass shooting perpetrated in Congress was led by a woman, Lolita Lebron.

“The surprise attack was mounted by four members of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party—Lolita Lebrón, Rafael Cancel Miranda, Irvin Flores Rodriguez, and Andres Figueroa Cordero. At the time, the Capitol had few security protocols and the four would-be assassins easily entered the gallery armed with handguns. About 2:30 p.m., they indiscriminately opened fire onto the House Chamber, waving an unfurled Puerto Rican flag.”

“Representative Alvin M. Bentley (R-MI) took a bullet to the chest and was the most severely wounded. Four other representatives were also shot: Ben F. Jensen (R-IA) was shot in the back, Clifford Davis (D-TN) was hit in the leg, George Hyde Fallon (D-MD) was shot in the hip, and Kenneth A. Roberts (D-AL) was hit in the knee.”

  12. I mentioned republican tropes in relation to you know who from Walton mountain such as antifa, woke, liberals etc but was cancelled by mister man.
Republican media is extreme extremism lies and spin and no doubt Trump has got a bump in credibility (or lack of thereof) due to the attempted assassination. But as rightwing populism rises in the white man’s land, sensible heads see it as turnoff and do not vote them in recently in places such as France and UK.
It seems Rightwing get their political tropes and arguments and spin from the net from liberal minds and sites like Bu so do not put out too much truth about them as it feeds the monster, play it cool and act the fool to catch wise.

David, the interesting thing about bias is that of course it cuts both ways: toward your view and also towards your opponents , when applied evenly.

The decision by Cannon which refers to and relies on the SINGILAR conquering opinion of one SCOTUS judge can be cheered by Repubs …BUT then the also singular opinion of another SCOTUS justice (Coney Barrett) can be loudly cheered also by Dems.

In her concurring opinion in that same case Ciney Barrett (paraphrasing) explicitly said that no president has ANY official role in determining the electoral/voting processes in States, thus she concluded this guy could absolutely be held liable for any illegal acts related to the fake electors matter.

So those who loudly tacclaim Judge Cannon and Just. Thomas should read and enquiry very carefully on ALL such matters.

BTW, this Judge has been SLAPPED down by an appeals court already … the chance that she will be AGAIN, is very high!

But she gives her benefactor time… and for that she may ascend higher if he wins.

Life is so linear at times that we wonder where is the mysterious intrigue. 🤣🙃

Oh dear, excuse those many typos… speed typing in-between tasks is surely not my thing. 🤷🏿‍♂️

  15. @DPD

Are you talking about the same thing? Coney Barret was writing on the immunity ruling while Thomas went out of his way to venture an opinion about the appointment of Smith- a subject that wasn’t before the Court and wasn’t mentioned by any of the other judges.

  16. I’m sure Jackass Smith can go to the same Appeals court again which I bet will unanimously confirm her decision.

If it doesn’t then Clarence Thomas and the Supreme Court will in turn slap the Appeals Court down!!

These idiots should have done the basics first.

  17. @Dee Word

On suspects the US will reap the whirlwind.

  18. @Sargeant

The SCOTUS is one of the most politically corrupt and contrived institutions in the world.

  19. The Presidents can commit crimes officially in official matters ruling must be on par with slavery is/was legal law.

Btw what does unofficial acts / conduct mean?
Is it referring to extra legal covert black ops or is that official action

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    It has already with Biden.

The question is does it have the resiliency to bounce back?

If Trump gets the Presidency, there is a chance.

  21. Judge Cannon is an very unqualified Trump appointee, put there for circumstances just like these. The OBVIOUSLY corrupt Clarence Thomas inserted that opinion to send her the signal.

It was always going to be an uphill battle to hold Trump accountable in such a corrupt system. Very few people actually believed it would happen, especially not before the election.

So…stop patting yourself on the back believing that you are exceptional!

Instead, google what happened in court to your Two Thousand Mules!

So much for your Dinesh De Souza masterpiece!

Giuliani and Lyndell rode those mules all the way to bankruptcy court.

And Tucker Carlson rode into obscurity.

@Sargeant, the judges wrote concurring singular opinions about the SAME case.

Absolutely they used their judicial reasoning ro offer quite different positions … Thomas taking apart the fundamentals of Smith’s appointment itself and Barrett speaking forcibly of the restrictions of the immunity ruling … although she also agreed with the majority.

I was hghlighting that there is ample opportunity to rejoice about Coney Barrett’s legal reasoning for ancilliary cases (namely fake electors) as there was re Thomas’!

And @Dub555 I believed we are making too much of the immunity ruling. No president should be held liable for official actions he takes as president after he leaves the WH.

By same token no president can order the murder of a US citizen or order him prosecuted under the guise of officialdom when he has NO AUTHORITY so to do.

Moreover any subordinate officer who participates in such murder or illegality will be prosecuted fully after that administration ends.

Of course that is why so many were seeking pardons BEFORE he left …

And the SCOTUS have left ‘open’ for determination on what is “offical”. .. the courts will sort that out.

It’s not as hard as same wanit it to seem

  27. “No president should be held liable for official actions he takes as president after he leaves the WH.”

I guess I should just give up saying both the Iraq wars were illegal then.
Americans told me back in 1990 that they’ve got to just trust whatever they do.
Let them go to Hell I say with their continuous wars killing innocent people.

David we were talking about bias earlier and this news exceprt made me shake my head on the total politization of basic law and order…

It read: “House Oversight Committee Republicans sent a letter to Cheatle with a new series of document requests and a notice to preserve all documents and communications regarding Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania, rally, as the committee separately investigates the assassination attempt.”

Remember a man inciting people to go to the Capitol to prevent the legal process of electoral vote management … remember the entire communication records of ALL SS agents on POTUS’ team being wiped from servers… remember the republican members of congress attitude to record keeping and demands to see records!

But now they are singing from a different hymnal.

The hypocrisy is stunning … reap the whirlwind they will!

  30. No sense in clogging the blog when hardly anybody watches the looney videos.

As David already pointed out, we could match you post for post, but why bother when there are few black Barbadians foolish enough to fall for your nonsense? I would bet that most Bajan whites and those who think they are white, and those who want to be white are already on board with it.

I was shocked to see my Indian-descended, longtime GP watching Fox News a few months ago. I chose him because of proximity to home in the days when race was not a thing I thought much about. It had not affected my life in any significant way as far as I knew at the time.

It could be that he was just informing himself, or it could be that he is a Trump supporter.

I only know that I must work it into a conversation somehow, because if he is, I can no longer trust his judgment.

I am conflicted, because he treats me with care and respect, doesn’t always charge for every little thing. And I remember once having to pull him up when he stood up for a patient that had been sent in before me in error.

“Some of you think that you are supposed to push in front of those who look poor,” he said.

Threatened to throw me out when I protested further! I dared him to do so and proved that I had indeed been there first.

He actually gained my respect for standing up for that very smelly guy. And by the time I finished pulling him up, we were good, good, good. We have a great rapport.

It will be difficult to walk away.

    555,

So-called American interest renders the lives of us non-Americans insignificant.

Domestic and foreign policy are seen differently under the law. International law is supposed to take care of foreign policy crimes.

But just as local laws are meant to control the poor and powerless, so are international laws.

  31. When you are listening to the interview with Blackman, think Reverend Joe and Ralph Thorne and the constitutionality of their claim to be self appointed Leaders of the Opposition.

Every action taken as a result is void.

How does it look when Ralf Thorne proclaims himself to be the leader of the opposition so he can consult with Ms. Mockley so she can tell the GG to appoint his wife, Madame Justice Jacqueline Cornelius – Thorne as a Justice of Appeal?

    This is crazy!!

  32. No clicks on those videos some post. The blogmaster is there forced to make the decision, exchange your arguments in text or live on.

  33. Isn’t it amazing how John can see a conflict of interest between Ralph Thorne, Jackie Cornelius and Mia Mottley but not between Clarence Thomas, Ginni Thomas and Donald Trump?

  34. @Donna

Haven’t you posted on the blog long enough to know John is a flamer in addition, he has shared a view slavery added value to Barbados which descendants (us) are benefiting? Post on the issues and let him preach to himself.

Good one there @David. Social media is a powerful tool that way … there are stark reflections of a person’s character and deeply held views all bout de blosgspehere to inform us.

This man who made such an inflammatory and clearly self serving racist remark was hailed here as a wonderful testament of Bajan humanity: his personable sharing of knowledge on the nature walks; his helpful scholarship etc. In short, a man to be acclaimed and embraced.

This blog helped us to put life and vagaries into proper perspective.

I would add tho that it can’t simply be a colour/race ting because as we also saw at least two Afro bajans shared many of his ideological views.

For those of us who study life and humanity it was a wonderful class of further exploration to attend here these many ‘semesters’!

  36. David,

That is mostly what I do, but it is still good to point out John’s flawed reasoning from time to time.

    DPD,

As I have said more than once, BU is a marvellous forum for studying human beings. I was told by the same one who hails John as you have described, that I am not qualified to study humans. I found that to be quite hilarious! He also “complimented” me once by saying that though I am not an intellectual, I am smart.

That person believes John is an intellectual and therefore qualified to speak on matters in which he has no formal instruction, but I, a “smart” human being, am not qualified to study human beings because he THINKS I have no formal instruction.

One of the reasons why I find it hilarious is because the “father” of the discipline of the study of human beings would not have had any formal instruction.

AND……the person who headed the first university would CLEARLY not have attended university.

Some people are so boxed in by their arrogance and belief in the formal educational system, Barbados scholarships, degrees and pieces of paper that they can’t grasp the fact that much learning takes place outside of the formal system.

I should hesitate to mention my son, but I won’t, 🤣🤣🤣. He has learnt far more about so much in the five years that he left school than he did in all his years at school. This is not a reflection on his teachers, but rather a matter of his learning style. He likes to research on his own and work things through himself in his own time. If you judge him on the number of certificates he got, you would be making a huge mistake.

So…I say that to say this – people with scholarships, degrees and even doctorates are not always to be trusted as the sole authority, who should never be questioned.. BU has shown them to be sadly lacking in many ways,, because of a deep-rooted need to appear superior and a tendency to believe themselves so to be.

BU University has taught me a whole lot!

  38. What does Trump have to do with the appointment of Clarence Thomas?

  39. Ralf Thone appointed himself Leader of the Opposition and facilitated the appointment of his wife, Jacqueline Cornelius-Thorne as a Justice of Appeal.

Where is the parallel with Trump?

  40. How many Justices of the Supreme Court have been unconstitutionally appointed since 2018?

How many real Justices of Appeal are on the Appeals Court?

Is it possible to get a panel of 3?

How can a citizen of Barbados avail himself/herself of a fair and speedy trial or for that matter any trial?

  41. Nothing to do with the appointment. Clarence Thomas refuses to recuse himself in matters where Ginni Thomas was involved in Trump’s election shenanigans in a significant way.

There is more than one way to be conflicted in your interests. 😊

  42. No shenanigans!!!

Trump immune for official acts, prosecution a waste of time.

    Can’t you read?

Now in the meantime please answer my questions, if you dare!!

You may not want to offend your elitist friends.

Yes, “politicians, politicians, politicians” … they all want the riches.

Bob Menendez is one of the baddest in that rush to riches from his office of Bob’s Treasury.

But of course President Biden MUST have sicced the justice department on him as he did on his son and on the former president, right.

This and several other prosecutions shows the utter baloney spewed by MAGA screwballs about weaponizing govt departments against the orange man.
