Many are following the breaking story in the United States of America the decision of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to file articles of impeachment against Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Say what you will about the world’s sole super power, it is a country that allows nothing to go unchallenged. There are learnings for Barbados with the long awaited new Constitution stuck in draft.

Another matter of interest is the battle for the presidency between a septuagenarian and an octogenarian, Donald Trump is 78 years old and Joe Biden 81. Obviously Biden should be at home sitting on a recliner sipping cocoa and narrating his memoirs. Instead he, like minority Leader of the Senate Mitch McConnell continue to compromise government by refusing to demit office given poor health.

Unfortunately although Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records by US courts, he remains qualified to run for the office of President of the United States of America. The blogmaster does not have the brain capacity to comprehend why the law would allow a convicted citizen to run for the highest office. 

The dilemma for voters may come to a case of “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe”.

How does this relate to Barbados? We need to file against a few judges sitting on the Barbados bench. If Barbadians refuse to participate in government, we will end up with political candidates not worthy. Are we there yet?

    I’m not sure that Trump would trust even an expert marksman with his life, especially not when he believes he is going to win the election and reign free.

    If this was a set up, I doubt that Trump was in on it. Nor his true supporters.

    @David, unfortunately there are no effective sane minds in this current political climate. In science I presume it could be described as a petri disk filled with nutrients prone to produce a deadly bacteria … or simply we sitting on a freaking powder keg of dynamite smoking a cigar: a red hot ash gine blow dis sooner or later in next few months.

    The conspiracies on both side will also blow up … it’s a false flag to boost him; a Dem set-up. And as the resident supremacist has already regurgitated: a plot by the Biden and Sec. Service.

    Regardless, of what facts are properly confirmed the first reports hitting the news feeds make it appear as if the SS/FBI/Police were either asleep on the job, the news feeds are WRONG or some one wanted to allow the attempt.

    And of course, we saw how he drove the PR with his fist pumps … better believe they are fund raising with the image already: Save the US and our brave candidate!

    The relevant figures are the congress and senatorial folks, influencers on talk shows or former big shot agency heads on social media etc. You see and hear the utter BS wild stuff already out there.

    On your other point, the quote I was looking for earler, to paraphrase is: who he seeds the wind, reaps the whirlwind.

    Clearly, the Repups are focused on POWER and CONTROL and they swing narratives for their agenda REGARDLESS of the realities.

    I , as many others did, aways feared any assassination attempt for exactly this blowback.

    So we can prepare for the John Boy type military hot heads to now stand up ready and his intellectually minded crew to fill the airwaves with incendiary threats and accusations.

    The astonishing thing about MAGA is that they would have achieved similar results if an attempt was made on Biden .. because it still would have been said that he orchestrated it, or the simple favorite: it is FAKE news.

    the Secret Service on the podium acted as all secret service .. just ike the ones shown there with Reagan. They surrounded their protectee and made sure he was covered; he fell to the ground and all the agents were around him to take any other bullet for him. That’s their role.

    We heard somebody saying the shooter is down which was picked up by the mic the candidate was using… after that they were coordinating to move him to the limousine.

    What HAS to be explained: is how de badword did this relatively untrained individual with a long gun get to that perch unnoticed or unchallenged by police/sniper!

    That sir is the grassy knoll incendiary unease !

    The brethren who have survived all the prior vagaries are settled enough (retirees anyhow) to relocate for several months as needed. Those still working will navigate and manage accordingly.

    Let’s not fool ourselves … nor be blinded by those here who love to BS … it’s not ONLY MAGA who buy weapons in preparation for possible civil strife.

    Maybe many have moved up from the basic ‘dog eat dog’ mentality that drives survival as they comfortably enjoy love, social acceptance and self esteem successes … but survival of the fittest is quickly re-invigorated when a tempest is blowing at your door..

    In 2017 an individual named Stephen Craig Paddock killed 60 people at an outdoor music festival in Las Vegas. Among the weapons used was a high-powered rifle with what is called a ‘Bump stock” attached. Simply put a “Bump Stock” is a device that one can attach to a weapon that allows the shooter to shoot rapid fire rounds while pulling the trigger once. The Federal Gov’t promptly banned the sale of these devices.

    In June 2024 the US SC in its wisdom reversed that ban and Trump dodged a bullet, however, if the shooter had got his hands on a “bump stock” considering the SC ruling the headlines would be very different today. It would be mass carnage including members of the crowd, secret service personnel, and the intended target.
