Prime Minister Mia Mottley Named in Top 100 Most Influential People of 2022
Congratulations to Prime Minister Mia Mottley for being recognized by TIMES Magazine as one of The 100 Influential People of 2022. Based on reports the rationale for recommending Mottley for the award was penned by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director-general of the World Trade Organization.
The hope is that Mottley will be able to leverage her burgeoning global brand to improve regional and domestic economies. In recent times Barbadians have not had many high points to celebrate, the recognition of one of our own is a step in the right direction and should assist in bolstering bajan pride which took a hit in recent years.

I’m sure, similarly to anyone in this forum, you would’ve received certain information via multi-platfom messaging apps such as ‘Twitter’ and ‘WhatsApp’…… or read it on other social media sites….but did not present that information to BU perhaps ‘for very good reason.’
You may want to verify the accuracy of the information and credibility of its source before posting it.
It does not necessarily mean “info is hardly distilled on BU.”
Some people become excited when they read information about certain people and immediately believe it is true, simply because it confirms their particular biases.
Last week someone sent me a message in which it was mentioned that:
“We are beginning to learn from Confidential Sources within US law enforcement that Mr. X has been on their radar since 2018, for money laundering conspiracy, to facilitate the delivery of narcotics to the United States, among many other violations of US law.”
What was written maybe TRUE. But, giving someone confidential information on an ongoing investigation, for them to post to a public blog, only serves to compromise that investigation.
That’s why when I see certain ‘red flags,’ I question the motives behind these news stories, despite whoever is allegedly involved.

The term ‘Influencer’ has connotations of decisive (hopefully positive) actions being undertaken.

Now not to nitpick but in current modern jargon the term “influencers” often refers to the social media mavens with very large followers/subscribers.
Clearly some on this Time list absolutely also fit that criteria but I also expect that Time’s “influential” goes beyond that.
And to that point of influential or influencers It’s difficult to NOT include the man who upended the world with a contrivance of wiping out Nazism and NATO from Ukraine. His actions are catastrophically influential on us all!
I understand why he is NOT on the list but realistically he should be … and so to the other lunatic President who loved him so much!
Just saying … one may not love a fella but to deny their INFLUENCE flies in the face of reality!
