Indeed, the 7 day positivity trend line is showing a slight uptick. Increased uptake of vaccinations, vigilance and compliance with protocols seems to be necessary, especially as the Omicron variant is on the move and threatens.

Ron Johnson: Americans died because Fauci ‘sabotaged’ early treatment

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) excoriated Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, for what the senator says has been a failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic as he “sabotaged” early treatments.
“Horse dewormers” and “snake oil salesmen.” Last year, those terms were used to describe several readily available and inexpensive drugs some took to treat COVID-19 and anyone who suggested their use.
Despite extensive reporting by several media sources on studies that have shown cheap, generic drugs such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine have had significant success rates with COVID-19 patients, Johnson says Fauci and other medical professionals have worked diligently to deny coronavirus sufferers access to these treatments.
In a Sunday tweet, the senator asked: “[D]id Dr. Fauci’s response to COVID-19 work? 788,000 lives lost, many because he ignored and sabotaged early treatment using cheap, available, generic drugs in favor of a vaccine that is not as safe or effective as we all hoped it would be.”
Johnson noted that, rather than encourage the use of such readily available therapeutics, Fauci has been working diligently to ensure Americans offer their arms for what is still an ineffective and untested COVID-19 vaccine.
On Dec. 1, World Aids Day, while speaking to Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on a podcast, Johnson said, “Fauci did the exact same thing with AIDS. He overhyped it. He created all kinds of fear, saying it could affect the entire population when it couldn’t. And he’s doing, he’s using the exact same playbook with COVID, ignoring therapy, pushing a vaccine.”
In response to Johnson’s criticism, Fauci told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday that he has said he has no clue what the senator is talking about: “Overhyping COVID that’s already killed 780,000 Americans over 5 million people worldwide? So I don’t have any clue what he’s talking about.”
The senator is not alone in his assessment, however. Dr. Robert Malone, who invented mRNA vaccines, has been critical of Fauci and maintains that preventing the use of HCQ and ivermectin-type treatments has resulted in the deaths of COVID-19 patients.
Another supporter of the use of off-label drugs such as ivermectin to treat the coronavirus is Dr. Pierre Kory, an American critical care physician and president and co-founder of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance.
In Dec. 2020, the physician testified before a Homeland Security committee on early treatment for the virus. During his testimony, Kory noted that existing “data show that ivermectin is effectively a ‘miracle drug’ against COVID-19. The magnitude of the effect is similar to its Nobel prize-worthy historical impacts against parasitic disease across many parts of the globe.”

Scientists Discover Harder-to-Detect Version of Omicron
We know the vaccine only offers very temporary slow down of transmission which is totally inadequate. Don’t know why Southern Afrika was blamed for this at all when i was reading about this variant since last month before SA found it.
Cases in Barbados continue to fall.

We have to maintain our discipline to ensure consistency.
The best you will get from positivity is a feeling for the direction in which cases are headed.
Low means down, so a good sign.

I also think that a high test positivity rate is suggestive of significant community spread which ensures that the contact tracers cannot do their jobs efficiently and tends to lead to higher overall disease incidence . Low test positivity indicates that disease incidence is down, so a good sign, as you said above. The under 5% target is an arbitrary target but is very useful as a goal for the Covid managers to aim for. There is no agreed mathematical formula that links test positivity with overall disease incidence.

SOURCE: CMC- A medical practitioner has been suspended for six months after she prescribed the drug Ivermectin to treat patients who had contracted the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Dr. Gilbertha St. Rose confirmed her suspension by the Medical and Dental Council of St. Lucia and has told the St. Lucia Times newspaper that she will be holding a news conference later to discuss the issue.
The on line publication said that the Council delivered its decision against Dr. St Rose for prescribing and supplying the drug Ivermectin to patients without authorisation from the Ministry of Health or the Chief Medical Officer and publicly encouraging its use to treat the virus.
It said it had obtained a document indicating that on receipt of a written application from Dr. St Rose before the end of the six months, the Council would review the suspension of her registration and practicing certificate once she undertakes in writing to cease.
“The document also prescribed paying an EC$10,000 (One Ec dollar=US$0.37 cents) fine to the Council within 30 days because Dr. St Rose conducted an unapproved and unmonitored clinical trial,” the St. Lucia Times newspaper reported.
The Medical and Dental Council of St. Lucia has not issued any statement regarding the suspension, but had written to Dr St Rose, an Integrated Health Specialist, indicating that between February 8 and August 30 2021, she had committed acts of misconduct by performing her duties as a medical practitioner in a negligent and incompetent manner..
Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic drug most commonly used to treat livestock. It is a US FDA-approved for humans when treating lice, rosacea, and specific parasitic diseases, but not for COVID-19.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says the current evidence on the use of Ivermectin to treat COVID-19 patients is inconclusive.

Quite amazing to watch how active cases have fallen, quite unmistakable!!

Looks like Ivermectin might allow a country to bring down its active cases faster by successfully resolving them.
Quite interesting to see the similarities between characteristic curves.
All countries should be aiming at getting their active cases to zero.
