Your message to the BLOGMASTER was sent

Since the worrying outbreak caused by the ‘super spreader’ event in February, Barbados has done a good job of pulling back COVID 19 infections numbers. For the most part Barbadians have observed the protocols/directives and compared to countries near and far done excellently to administer the Covid 19 vaccine as a primary measure to combat the rampaging pandemic.

The blogmaster again takes the opportunity to thank Lyall Small who has been diligent to submit information formatted for 101 public use – see graphs below. The graphs show that compared to others in the region we are faring better than most but there is work still to be done until we are able to satisfactorily arrest the virus.

Against the forgoing the blogmaster is concerned we have religious zealots among us who blinded by an all-powering  ignorance would adopt a behaviour to jeopardize the health of people on the island and economic state of the country. The blogmaster is of the strong belief Lynroy Scantlebury and his wife Heather of  World Harvest Ministries International Church, based in Speightstown, St Peter should be made to feel the full weight of the law. His followers blindly following this idiot by continuing to avoid calls from authorities to present themselves should also be hauled before the court. One quality we have to nurture as a society if we are to break free from a pervasive mediocrity suffocating our little island is to respect the value DISCIPLINE adds to all that we do – see Nation News posted below for background to the matter at hand.

Why should the rest of Barbados suffer hardship to keep COVID 19 at bay and others who profess to walk a moral high ground ignore protocols and directives set by an elected government that come back to bite us in the asses where it hurts.

NO!

Attached are C-19 graphs for the week ending 16th April 2021.  Barbados is now showing a slight but possibly worrying upward trend in daily cases, as well as positivity percentages (even though these are still below the benchmark levels).  These indications are possibly mainly due to the cluster at a northern church which might not have been totally eliminated.  The active cases chart also appears to tell the same story.  The authorities, from this week’s press conference, appear to be concentrating on this cluster and will hopefully be successful in eliminating it,  given their good performance so far – See COVID Updates

COME OUT!

Bostic tells church members to stop hiding, get tested

By barryalleyne@nationnews.com

Stop hiding! Come out and get tested!

Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic did not mince words yesterday, as he urged members of a northern church to stop dodging public health officials who are conducting contact tracing into a cluster of COVID-19 cases.

He said public health officials had been hamstrung this week as they attempted to find people associated with the church.

Earlier this week in a story broken by the Midweek Nation, it was revealed that 19 members of the World Harvest Ministries International Church, based in Speightstown, St Peter, had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. That number has since increased.

Its leader, Apostle Lynroy Scantlebury and his wife Heather, admitted that they were later ordered by Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George to report to Paragon in Christ Church, for him and his spouse to start a period of quarantine.

“My concern is this church cluster occupying the Ministry of Health and Wellness,” Bostic told a national press briefing yesterday, after confirming that nine of the country’s 12 newest COVID-19 infections were related to the church.

“I would like to appeal to all persons associated with that church in the north, if you haven’t been contacted, it’s either you haven’t been told of your possible exposure to the virus, or because you are hiding. If you don’t care about your status, I care and the Ministry of Health cares. If you remain in hiding, it could be detrimental to your health.”

Matter of urgency

He then urged those from the church who remained untested to present to the Wildey Gymnasium as a matter of urgency, or to any medical facility of their choosing.

Bostic said three of the 12 new cases had already been at the Harrison Point facility in St Lucy beingassessed, but what worried

him most was that the other nine individuals were all directly related to the church. He added that two families, one of four, and one of three people, all members of the church, had tested positive, and another two were not members but indirectly connected to an organisation that had its members exposed to the virus.

In response to a question by reporters, the minister said they were glad the leaders of the church were placed in quarantine, and having them at their disposal would allow the Chief Medical Officer to “vigorously continue the investigation into the cluster”.

“We don’t yet have all the information. We are very, very closely monitoring this situation. Nothing is being ruled out. The aim is to contain the spread of the disease in Barbados, and we will do whatever we have to do to do that,” he added.

Bostic added that public health personnel, in their investigation, would also determine if to take the matter further.

Scantlebury had claimed that COVID-19 had been planted at his church.

“This was planted at our church,” he had told the Midweek Nation in a telephone interview from his quarantine at Paragon. “We never had any cases of COVID at World Harvest. Not one single case.”

In yesterday’s Weekend Nation, some of his members demanded an apology from him, saying they felt misled by the church and fell victim to Scantlebury’s many statements that COVID-19 could not touch the church.

  2. The #throwashade crew at work. There is nothing Barbados can do right so bugger off.

Is it any coincidence the members of this crew all live overseas?

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

YOU LIKE YOUR BUDDY @enuff DON’T LIKE TO HEAR THE TRUTH WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR BELOVED BLP ALWAYS THIS NONSENSE OVERSEAS THROW A SHADE CREW,

SINCE @enuff BROUGHT IT UP EARLIER BELOW ARE NUMBERS WHICH CANNOT BE DISPUTED ABOUT THE MINIMUM WAGE PROMISED 3 YEARS AGO WITHIN 6 MONTHS.

AT THE TIME WAS BD$6.25 NOW BD$8.50

IF MIA HAD RAISED IT TO CURRENT LEVEL 2 1/2 YEARS AGO THE INDIVIDUAL AT 2018 MINIMUM WAGE LEVEL WOULD HAVE GAINED BD$11,700 UP TO NOW OVER THAT 30 MONTHS PERIOD.

DIFFERENCE OF BD$2.25 per hr x 40hrs per week = BD$90 LOSS PER WEEK
    BD$90 x 52 weeks = BD$4680 LOSS PER YEAR
    BD$4680 x 2 1/2 YEARS = BD$11700 LOSS OVER 2 1/2 YEAR PERIOD OF NOT KEEPING PROMISE IN 2018 MANIFESTO

CAN YOU IMAGE EVEN THOSE WHO HAD FELL THROUGH THE CRACKS MAKING EVEN LESS THAN THE BD$6.25 OVER THE 2 1/2 YEARS.

YET ALMOST AT THE BEGINNING COLLECTIVELY $$BILLIONS (BUSINESSES) PRIMARILY WHITE IN VAT (MONEY STOLEN FROM TAXPAYERS INCLUDING MYSELF) AND HER FATHER WHO OWED $$MILLIONS IN TAXES WERE ABLE TO WRITE OFF AND CORPORATE TAX RATE LOWERED TO 5% NEXT TO NOTHING.

HOWEVER THE MASSES OF POOR WORKING BAJANS AT THE POVERTY LINE LOSS OUT ON A MINIMUM OF BD$11,700 WOULD HAVE GAINED UP TO APRIL 2021 IF 2018 MANIFESTO PROMISED HAD BEEN KEPT AND HONORED.

IMAGINE WHAT THIS MONEY COULD HAVE HELPED WITH THOSE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LADDER WHOSE HEADS WERE FILLED WITH FALSE PROMISES.

“AUNTIE MIA CARES” ABOUT WHITE BUSINESSES AND LOCAL DRUG BARONS NOT THE POOR WORKING CLASS BAJANS WHO REPRESENT AT LEAST 80% OF THE VOTE EVERY 5 YEARS AND THAT ARE TRICKED BECAUSE OF NOT THINKING CLEARLY AND LOOKING AT ALL THE FACTS INSTEAD OF PARTIES, DRINKS, WUK-UP AND PETTY BRIBES FOR VOTES.

  3. Ahem! Who wants to go from ashes to ashes??? Besides which the other islands are less densely populated. If I were a Vincie on the run right now I would go elsewhere too. But I have Vincies up my gap and I don’t see them leaving. Nor the Jamaicans. Some Guyanese were stupidly thrown out ten years ago and many others remain.

On any given day the Caribbean accents does lick me down in this island! And I like it so. Makes it more interesting and less inbred.

    But honestly speaking…..

Barbados has definitely lost some of its appeal as the other islands are progressing whilst we are in a slump.

    However……

It ain’t over until the fat lady sings!

  4. India passed the 300K mark yesterday.

    Deaths at 2.1K and rising.

Too many ways for it to spread now for any control to be exerted in the foreseeable future.

  5. Speaking for myself, I get defensive at exaggeration, hellhole/shithole/failed state / banana republic references and the refusal to acknowledge similar problems where you live…..and related nonsense.

Telling somebody who has enjoyed half a century in a country with only minor difficulties and moderate effort that the place is nowhere to live is bound to provoke that response.

I too criticise Barbados. But I do not exaggerate and I keep it in perspective.

I am here keeping it real and happy in Barbados!

  6. Quite frankly, I wish most people would go to Mexico right now!

As for all-inclusive plastic packages, I find that tourissy stuff nauseating. Seeing the real culture among real people is more my style.

  7. Worked for what must have been near minimum wage to put myself through UWI after moving out from my parents’house. (Mother was too controlling.) Enjoyed almost every moment of it! Great work environment!
Like a family! Then I moved on. Everybody has a talent and should seek to develop it. Nobody should confine themselves to an entry level minimum wage job for a lifetime.

This is what we need to get into our heads.

There’s government funded adult education, skills training etc. Not hard to access.

Entry level, low paying jobs should be a stepping stone.

I see people sitting on their asses and serving fast food at Chefette fuh years!

    Cuss muh now!

  8. The thieves at BWA take bribes to sell out the water…ya black face leaders are not only WICKED and corrupt, they will ALWAYS SELL YOU OUT..

Won’t the less knowledgeable be SURPRISED when the brits pull out their DEEDS for the island and THROW YALL DUMB ASSES OFF..or just SELL IT and tell yall YA GOTTA LEAVE….Diego Garcia is not the name of a person….

    IGNORANCE and SMALLMINDEDNESS….kills people..

    https://www.nationnews.com/2021/04/22/residents-forced-use-spring/

“Residents told the Daily Nation on Tuesday that the water in those St Thomas communities was on and off for the past two to three months and the situation got worse over the past week, with the pipe being off for three consecutive days since Sunday.

Residents said their main source of water is from the nearby spring where they bathe and catch water for household purposes except cooking.

“For about two weeks the water was off in Porey Spring,” said Andrew Eugene who was with a group of his neighbours at the spring, some of whom were waiting their turn for a bath. “We have had to rely on the spring to bathe and wash clothes. We can’t even cook at home; right now I have chicken thawing down to come back out here and fry.”

Won’t the less knowledgeable be SURPRISED when they brits pull out their DEEDS for the island and THROW YALL DUMB ASSES OFF..or just SELL IT and tell yall YA GOTTA LEAVE….Diego Garcia is not the name of a person….

  9. I now see why Pacha got really PISSED yesterday, the daily displays of LACK OF KNOWLEDGE while PRETENDING to be worldly GETS HIGHLY ANNOYING.

google Diego Garcia as an island.

  10. THIS BARBADOS UNDERGROUND BLOG IS PRIMARILY ABOUT WHAT GOES ON IN THE 2 X 3 ISLAND POSITIVELY OR NEGATIVELY.

IT IS ABOUT HIGHLIGHTING THE MAJOR DEFECTS THAT IMPEDES AND IMPACT NEGATIVELY ON MOST BLACK ORDINARY BAJANS.

IT IS NOT ABOUT ANYONE INDIVIDUAL FANTASIES OR WHIMS.

    TRUE NOWHERE IS PERFECT..

HOWEVER FOR A BLACK DOMINATED ISLAND ONLY IN NUMBERS 95% MOST LIVE IN POVERTY AND CLOSE TO BEING HOMELESS LIVING FROM PAYCHECK T O PAYCHECK WHILST WEALTH IS PRIMARILY CONTROLLED BY THE 5% LOCAL WHITES AND SOME INDIANS.

IT IS TIME TO TAKE STOCK AND THROW OUT THE BULLSHIT AND DEAL WITH THE REALITY ON THE GROUND.

  11. @Donna April 22, 2021 2:35 AM “But I have Vincies up my gap and I don’t see them leaving. Nor the Jamaicans.”

In the 31 years since I have lived in this gap I have had people from Australia, Grenada, India, Jamaica, Nigeria, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Trinidad, the United Kingdom and the United States, and India living in my gap of about 15 houses. And “no” I don’t live in Emmerton Lane nor Sandy Lane. Some have stayed for a year or two, some have stayed for a decade or two. Some still live here. We get along fine, are kind and respectful to each other. I am not under the impression that they consider Bajans to be horrible, horrible, stupid, corrupt people.

“ IT IS TIME TO TAKE STOCK AND THROW OUT THE BULLSHIT AND DEAL WITH THE REALITY ON THE GROUND.”
Well said. As a young man, I attended meetings of some very articulate, young black citizens, who said exactly what you are quoted as saying above. They were harassed, denied employment and many eventually went into self imposed exile overseas.
Unfortunately, nearly sixty years later, what they said then has come to pass. The answer to their message was the vicious Public Order Act of 1974. That act remains on the Statute Books to this very day.
So, what is interesting on BU;Brasstacks and other organs is the pathetic attempts to justify obvious neglect of the Black working class. In other words, we will get here and pretend that because there is homelessness , hunger and poverty everywhere, we need to shut to hell up and don’t say it’s so inBim. Then rather than accept that we must fight hunger, homelessness and poverty in our homeland, we start off on the usual level of degrees under the Barbados Labour Party or the Democratic Labour Party. So the focus is lost along the way.
And that is the real problem throughout the entire country. We are constantly accepting corruption, neglect and skullduggery in its widest form and diluting it into who is to carry most of the blame.
There are millions of children who go to sleep hungry in the USA every night. A murder or some form of dangerous crime happens in America every six seconds. These are known facts. Children should not go to sleep hungry anywhere. People should have homes and workers everywhere should be paid proper wages. There is no sensible Barbadian who will say we haven’t made strides. Black Americans have made strides too but they are still being murdered by white racists cops.
So, if there is one child in our country going to sleep hungry ,that is one too much , if there one homeless person he or she is one too much and the same for poverty and starvation wages.
It matters not who is in power or office. And that’s the simple position on BU, Brasstacks , and elsewhere that some of us seem incapable of accepting.

  13. “And that is the real problem throughout the entire country. We are constantly accepting corruption, neglect and skullduggery in its widest form and diluting it into who is to carry most of the blame.”

or which country have it too….maybe a little Diego Garcia-ing will expand their muddled, warped minds..

they leave the homeless to DIE ON THE STREETS in Barbados and don’t provide NOT ONE homeless shelter with taxpayer’s money…..but building parks for them to sleep in and die…..they can tell me it happens everywhere….and name the places/countries where ya don’t find homeless shelters run by city and state…

  14. There is no sensible Bajan who would say we haven’t made strides??????

So what is the argument about????

But I guess you did not see when I was cussed black and blue for saying exactly that!

One guess as to who did it!

  15. Boy, that William Skinner insists on finding differences where there are none!

    🎵Mixed up moods and attitudes!🎶

  16. He told Governor General Dame Sandra Mason, who paid an official visit to the 90-bed Spry Street facility this morning, that the facility which opened about four weeks ago requires at least $25,000 monthly to keep it in operation, including paying rent, staff and for other amenities.

  17. What’s the big deal? When the English show up with the deeds to my property I will return to England and live in one of their big beautiful homeless shelters.

    Problem solved!

    😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

  18. Good to know you know about the homeless shelters in white UK that’s missing from the Black taxpayer landscape in Barbados…

  19. Didn’t you just imply that they have them?

But perhaps there is no need for me to flee!

I’ve been squatting for eighteen years. I should have earned my squatter’s rights!

    Beautiful Barbados here I stay
Away from dull and dreary day
    Foggy, wet with torrent rain
In Bim’s bright brilliance I remain!

    Bim forever
    Britain never!

  20. only now because the young man who FOR YEARS had to beg funds to help the homeless, this government comes out with the badly needed subvention…..this guy was since 2005, i believe that’s the first time i saw him in the news asking for funds and he NEVER GOT IT BEFORE FROM EITHER GOVERNMENT….let’s hope they don’t expect accolades, credits and VOTES for taking NEARLY 20 YEARS to help him and the homeless on the island, he was funding it from his own pockets and also other help…..goddamn shame and disgrace…

  21. most of yall are $5 dollar hoes, easily pleased, i come much more expensive…

  22. William…if we can find all the articles where both lowlife governments BOASTED for the last 30 plus years of giving away TENS OF BILLIONS of the Black population’s money to minority crooks, thieves, racists, frauds, drug traffickers and gunrunners….and this dude who actually did something worthwhile on the island…is still begging for help for the Black homeless….we can then post every article…..in their faces.

  23. Funny! I never aspired to be a hoe at any price. I value myself priceless!

But….whatever you feel you need to do is your business. Will it be your bedroom or a first class hotel?

I’m not trying to peep in your bedroom! ( Okay! I admit it! I am!) Just want to know where to put the peep hole.

Anyway! I’m done. Enough fun for one day!

  24. A very HEALTHY TRUTH to wrap ya head around…

“Neither Christianity, Judaism, Islam, nor any of the other Asian spiritual systems will not, has not, cannot, save or liberate Afrakan people. All of these religions are good individually, up until a point, when it comes to Afrakan people. None of them can center Afrakan people, nor can they liberate us. They can help you if you are temporarily lost, insane, stressed and/or suicidal…. These systems were never designed to liberate Afrakan people. They all have foreign centers and cultures…”

  25. Donna…not every comment is about you, i have made that comment on here several times before, check the archives.

  26. FYI ..i make the comment because it’s WELL KNOWN as soon as yardfowls hear that the government grudgingly did somethig for Black people WITH BLACK PEOPLE’S MONEY…they fly out with their broken wings to BULLY US into bowing and scraping like if our brains turned to jello…..and we should IMMEDIATELY turn into fowl Slaves like them…..so am putting them on notice first..

  27. Flash back moment

Just heard PM saying govt buying water from Dominica
    What a ting doah

  28. Was waiting to hear the AG govt execute words to the effect
We are going to RH lock up Scantelbury
    But nothing

  29. @WURA-War-on-U April 22, 2021 4:38 PM “Most of yall are $5 dollar hoes, easily pleased, i come much more expensive…”

    Never sold my body.

Always earned my living by my own hands and my own brains.

Never laid down under a white man [nor a black, brown, yellow or rainbow colored one either] to earn my keep.

  30. Does it matter if the homeless shelter is tax funded, or funded by the same taxpayer population, who like me and tens of thousands of others CHOOSE to donate to the shelter? Haven’t
you heard that the Chief of the Coast Gard is over whelmed by the amount of donations Bajans have provided to Vincentians? We Bajans, we poor black people are enormously generous. Me too.

In addition don’t most of us take excellent care of our families so that they do not end us among the homeless?

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Isn’t that the same story which has been told over and over?

Black people will never be liberated from being hewers of wood and carriers of water to other races unless they stop with their ‘a-whoring’ after other people’s gods and look to the Source of their well melanated skin for the guidance towards their own Salvation.

Even the biblical Jews themselves have long recognized this Source for their own Salvation.

  32. Cuddear…you and Donna have a REAL PROBLEM understanding the rhetorical….christ…i said that on here so many times before and ya still with the prostitution analogy, like that is all ya can think about……….

$5 dollar hoes translation =….am not EASILY PLEASED or APPEASED……especially by CORRUPT ASS POLITICIANS/SELLOUT GOVERNMENT MINISTERS… who believe that Black people must BEG THEM FOR THEIR OWN MONEY…while they give it away FREELY TO RACISTS AND THIEVES etc ….by the billions…

    AGAIN….i WRITE…

  33. “unless they stop with their ‘a-whoring’ after other people’s gods and look to the Source of their well melanated skin for the guidance towards their own Salvation.”

watch out Miller….Cuddear and Donna will take “a-whoring” literally…..lol

  34. Ya get sick of telling them that, don’t care how basic and simple the language …that their POWER LIES IN THEIR MELANATED SKINS…their BLACK SKINS…it CANNOT penetrate their minds…..and all the other groups KNOW IT, always have…. and they don’t, just like they DON’T KNOW MOST THINGS, nor do they want it to sink into their heads…….and apparently this only happens to certain people, because others UNDERSTAND IT JUST FINE and make the requisite changes….and it don’t take them long ..i was presently surprised at just how many have made the transition…but many are LOST and will stay that way…they have to fix and then save themselves…no one can do that for them…..Bob is still wailing away at them from the grave…

  35. Today is Earth Day, did anyone in Barbados celebrate it..

That’s not really true, religions are individual choices, there are blacks in all religions and philosophies. There are as many muslims as christians worldwide and it is a big part of many African countries you can tell them by their hats kufis.

  39. Thank God it is the last.

But, India will go nuclear as it long reached the critical mass of COVID infections.

All we can hope for is the anti malarial medicines will curb the death rate and keep mortality as low as possible even though infections rise to astronomic proportions.

  40. Donna….all you did all day yesterday was show the WORLD how INTELLECTUALLY DUMB ya are especially about ya own ANCESTRY, IDENTITY AND ANCESTORS…..nicely content and happy in your unknowledgeable world….ya can try to pass it off as anything ya want…..latent stupidity is hard to hide…

The UN needs to do much, much more than help Barbados clean up volcanic ash, they need to ASSIST the Black/African population to CLEAR OUT the black human rights violating black TRASH out of the SLAVE parliament…..and shut that shit down PERMANENTLY…

  41. “Outspoken investor Ralph “Bizzy” Williams is adamant that Barbadian entities should have a bigger slice of the renewable energy sector Government is developing to shift the country away from oil by 2030.”

that is what they= know it alls on BU, who know nothing at all should be worried about, wannabe slavemasters and white trash stealing their CHILDREN’S MONEY, OPPORTUNITIES AND FUTURE…..for the last 60 years, still ongoing…and not TRYING TO STOP…let’s see what the parliament sellouts do…

  42. For the BU know it all, who knows nothing at all…yall need some REAL African education….REEDUCATION..

“One might say that it makes no difference to a Wolof speaking African whether he adopts Zulu or English or Portuguese. This is just not so. An African educated in any African language other than his own is less alienated, culturally speaking, than he is when educated in a European language which takes the place of his mother tongue. Likewise, a Frenchman who got an Italian education would be much less alienated than if inculcated with Zulu or Arabic in place of French. Such is the disparity in cultural interest which Exists between European and African languages-something we must never lose sight of. European languages must not be considered diamonds displayed under a glass bell, dazzling us with their brilliance. Our attention must rather be fixed on their historical development. Creatively, WE discover that similar paths are open to all.

  44. All of this copy and pasting things about Africa coming from somebody who until about few months ago was bragging about being able to speak French fluently and used to reply to people in French. I remember somebody asking her if she could speak an African Language and after eight years on the blog, she said she now learning one.

Blogmaster, she had the whole Race Issue blog for herself to post things from one morning to the next and you mean you going to allow her to hog this blog too?

  45. .have you learned anything at all …at least I KNOW HOW spaniards and the FRENCH think….do you?…no one is stopping you from posting anything, whether…illiterate or sensible….if you don’t like African posts…DON’T LOOK AT THEM…

TLSN….am sure you also know about this from the UN PERSPECTIVE…..that is what the IGNORAMUSES on BU should be concerned about…

  46. Covid did not entered the country because of Scantelbury
Barbados infected rated started because of govt stubborn policies to leave the borders open during the high risk Covid period
Presently Barbados infection rate is three thousand and govt policies are the major causes which lends itself from an immigration policy of letting tourist into the country from hot spots which helped to encourage and maximize the spread of the virus
The church in question according to govt has added a 11 new infection because govt says a cluster occured
Govt has yet to provided evidence sufficient and enough that tied Scantelbury teachings to the spread of the virus amongst any of his followers
The virus can be spread from any source
So far no evidence suggest that the Apostle and his wife has the virus

  47. Waru has just discovered a new movement of African consciousness spirituality and philosophy and is diving deeper into the subject matter as a daily practise, she is aggressively pushing the idea that it is a panacea for black peoples issues and would be a positive journey for all blacks to follow.

If you use the formula below for studying and practising new philosophies
for the first two years you are a beginner
for the next two years you are an intermediate
for the next subsequent two years you are an advanced student
and after that you are a subject matter expert, teacher, master, guru
then waru is at the beginner student level

the stuff on the net is also re-imaginings of Africa from Africans in the diaspora in America and UK and other places and is a new fashion trend on social media taking bits and pieces from other cultures practices religions and philosophies and putting them into a black context
