Ezra Alleyne, even though partially conceding that he was wrong, attempted to obfuscate the issue with nonsense about the Great Train Robber, Ronnie Biggs and by attempting to place blame on civil servants. He is wrong on both counts.

 

It is not a civil servant’s fault if the Prime Minister, who has been a member of Parliament continuously since 1994, has not as yet grasp parliamentary procedure. The mistake that she made up to prove me wrong is too basic. It would appear that she is only concerned about power not about observing the niceties involved, in other words, a dictator.

Now to the Biggs’ case of which Ezra exudes such pride. To this day, he does not realise that he was being used by the British government to ensure that Biggs was not repatriated to Britain, since he would have been an embarrassment to people in high office in Britain.

I was an immigration officer in the early 1980s and can say without fear of sensible contradiction that there was absolutely no reason for the UK to pretend that it was seeking extradition. Biggs was kidnapped and brought to Barbados by his captors. He was never legally allowed to enter this country. That being the case, any immigration officer could have refused him entry and put him on any craft to any country that was willing to accept him. Britain did not want to accept and staged a charade, with Ezra included, to ensure that Biggs did not go back to England. It amazes me that to this day Ezra is still proud of the fact that he was used or he still has not come to grips with that fact.

    The final sentence reveals this post as an extended ad hominem attack on Ezra. What is the point? Whether or not Ezra was used what does that have to do with the relevance of the particular case to his point? Yet again, what is the point!

    You haven’t detected the great irony in your attempt to keep score in a comment which just above it is dated May 24. I would’ve thought that such a day would be an uncomfortable one for partisans of the Democratic Labour Party. The point is though that in your laughable attempt to keep score you have forgotten one important score relevant to the date, as well as a score of positive indicators in the last two years and aanother important score from 2022/23. So keeping score won’t help ya.

    Dear Double K,

    You have the gift of gab beyond your years. You are obviously intelligent and more informed than many. You certainly are more advanced than I was at your age.

    At age sixteen, my default position was to believe Errol Barrow over Tom Adams. I did listen to debates and read up on the issues and I like to think that I gave Tom a hearing but my initial response was that Tom would have to prove Errol Barrow to be wrong. I based this purely on my assessment of their characters as they presented themselves during the debates and also on the fact that Tom had my father’s name in his black book simply for exercising his right to support and assist the party of his choice. In retrospect, I realize that though I stand by my general choice of Errol Barrow over Tom Adams, I should have approached the issues based solely on the facts. I should have done more research.

    It is quite obvious that, for whatever reason, your default position is to believe the utterances of this BLP administration. This is your right. Your level of intelligence should, however, lead you to ponder whether this or any administration can be right on all issues and in all cases.

    In this case, after all the back and forth, it is obvious that Ezra Alleyne, no matter how he attempted to disguise it, has conceded the point to Caswell, as most of us on BU knew he would have to in the end. We here know that Caswell, papers or no papers, is the one most likely to be in possession of the facts. So, though I did not do any research, and offered no opinion, I knew I did not need to as the truth would be revealed sooner rather than later. (Caswell has that effect.)

    Now we must look at the response of this administration.

    First the AG arrogantly dismissed the senator, a legitimate servant of the people, until the aforementioned people (myself included) reminded him of his obligations (and the Freundel Effect). WUHLAUS!

    Then the AG, rightly chastened, conceded that a technical error had been made and would be corrected. CUH DEAR!

    Then the PM, whether in ignorance or bombast, revived a dying issue by contradicting her newly enlightened and humbled AG. OOOPS!

    Then party practitioner Alleyne attempted to confuse the issue and the people to provide cover for the PM. He should have known better. He should have expected Caswell to counter. WUHPAX!

    And finally, the aforementioned “luminary” presented a pig in lipstick, hoping the people would not recognise that it is still a pig. STEUPSE!

    My dear precocious one, I hope you have learnt a valuable lesson here. I suspect that you have political ambitions and I therefore advise you that we the people are tired of old time politics and politicians. We have had it with pure partisan piffle! AND, the David Thompson Tom Adams Imitation Act is tired and outdated and can no longer impress! DEAD without hope of resurrection! ( I speak, of course, of the ACT and not the men.)

    Whatever you do, please don’t follow the old timers down the slippery slope! In the words of Michelle Obama, “Be better!”

    Be the little child who leads them down the right path! That, of course, would be the path that leads to a better life for ALL, including you. I happen to know that life is so much better when lived with a clear conscience. I suspect even death is better faced with a clear conscience.

    The chile does not relent in his verbal engagement here AND THAT IS DISTURBING AT MANY LEVELS.

    Passion is one thing and a passionate polemicist is a characteristic to be admired but when it veers to absolutism and inflexibility THEN YOU HAVE TO BE WATCHFUL!

    We discourse similarly about Mugabe Mottley who, in this substantive matter shows one similar attitude, despotism.

    The one common thread is MUGABE IS WRONG yet pursuing an illegality forcing it down our throats, and what we are seeing is a Chile, who though wrong, is doing the same thing.

    And not one of us adults will tell him, you are doing SCVUNT and playing a game where the outcome will only lead you down one road.

    He was also calling men the same endearment and for a while I was tempted to ask him if he has some bulleristic genes but after a while the Honourable Blogmaster HAS TO WARN HIM that if he persists along the lines of insults of the nature that he is using WE GOING START DEALING WITH HIM AS A MAN-CHILE!

    I would hope that this young man is not being exploited by adults. For the last month, his link has been featured in the top clicks list. The link is redundant or should I say a PR stunt.

    Perhaps it is time for David to remove the young man’s oxygen tank and to carry out his own investigation as to why the link was not removed from the first day of its appearance!

    Kid is aspiring to become a fowl, if he keeps it up he will be a long life one and education will mean nothing to him, he wlll just be another fowl, Barbados has seen thousands of them come and go over the last 6 decades and it never ends well for them…another fowl statistic…lol

    ..i have ALWAYS disliked all politicians and yardfowls have always REPULSED ME since i was around his age, goes to show even with advanced education some young people are blind and still need to be guided….one must be born with a certain level of foresight to see them for what they are, education is not always required to see reality…when ya born spiritually blind, ya blind..nothing can help you then….as we have learned from all the fowls on the blog…

    it is what it is, some people need to go through their spiritual blindness on their own, that is their role in life, we have experienced many of them on here, some were not even fowls, they just live in spiritual darkness right up until old age….then on to their graves….just another waste of useful oxygen.

    What you and others need to do is stop harassing Khaleel. He is free to comment on the blog, he is free to share his opinions whether we disagree or not. In those instances where you disagree try to be constructive doing so. We will get hot under the collar sometimes in the thrust of discussion but at some point we have to do the gut check thing and move on.

    He is smart enough to setup an Avatar/Gravatar using a dummy url to populate that field OR he may have a blog that is currently set to private for his own reasons. The blogmaster can speculate but it is his business. There is nothing wrong with what he has done. h is posting under his real name for crissakes!

    it is very clear that he can’t read law to save his life or he would have seen from the legislation posted by Caswell, Verla and Mayers.. that Caswell whom he still insists on maligning stupidly, was right all along…

    ah know he is quite INCAPABLE of thinking that far ahead yet, or he would not have posted such uttter fowl shit…so i won’t worry about him, some blogger from the future will render him totally useless in the coming era..as he already started to do himself at the tender age of 16…

    we are the ones supported him on BU when those two clowns tried to knock him down when as a little mite he was put on a political platform and handed a microphone….we are all for youngsters learning the ropes if they are so inclined….but, there is always a but, he will find that the same fowls egging him on and promoting him to look stupid like them will be the same fowls who will destroy him if he proves to become something other than they groomed….he was warned he was being set up with the Caswell matter from early on…..but is still in denial…

    My view i THINK would match those of the common Bajan, in that this is a “7 day wonder” and politicians getting their “15 minutes of fame”. I hope for the sake of these aspiring parties and politicians that they have the magical skills of David Copperfield and Penn and Teller and turns these into “7 year wonders” and “1500 Hours of fame”!!!!. As far as i’m concerned, government is not a “dick matching contest” even thought ALL POLITICIANS want it to be. Government is PARTLY about using the country’s resources to help EVERYBODY including those that did not vote for them or didn’t even vote at all. What are the sequence of FACTS???:-…. The COMMISSION OF POLICE HIMSELF asked for another deputy, the person that was recommended was acting in that post ALREADY and was highly regarded by a committee set up in a past administration. Senator Franklin stated that it CANT LEGALLY happen, the AG ignored him initially but later admitted IN PUBLIC that a mistake was made but it would be legally rectified in another sitting in parliament, the PM said that the steps were initialized to make it legal to the point that the Order Paper was laid in parliament….What is the EXPECTED course of events????? that the post would be “affirmatively resolved”.
    The FACT that the AG said IN PUBLIC that a mistake was made is more than prior govts have done for the ENTIRETY of their administration!!!!. Senator Franklin did the job he was put there to do as Opposition Senator!!!!!!
    Certain people want to equate it as “Miss Mottley becoming lawless”..she wants to establish herself as “dictator for LIFE” She wants to establish a new “religion with herself as head”!!!!!!. No government can claim it comprises of saints or gods. As far as i know, a student getting 80% in an exam is still considered a pass. somethings were were wrong but most things were done right in the exam. The PEOPLE will do the MARKING of ANY GOVT, some gov’t got 60%, 55% or in the case of the last administration literally got 23% (of the vote). SOME people are dazzled by these “dick matching contests” but they eventually get bored and “change the channel”.

    it must be hurting like hell that there are those on BU who can read law better than any one of the pretend lawyers in the parliament…

    Look it doesn’t matter what peculiar predilection you have for your brand of intoxicating Koolaid, some things are simply immutable. Even if displays of public honesty are anathema to you, you owe it to yourself to be honest at least privately in your own company.

    This administration in 24 months has done an unimaginable amount of work. Work that accrues to real benefits for real people in this country. No amount of sideshows can distract from that.

    Perfection is not the preserve of humanity. There was a disconnect between management and implementation with respect to the layoffs in 2018. Government has had to reschedule starting dates for various things a little too often, sometimes due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, and other times because there was lack of appropriate consideration and foresight. And there are others too I could mention.

    This instance could amount to a technical omission or an incomplete process. Or it might not. What it does amount to is something vastly insignificant in our present ocean of problems. What it doesn’t take away from is the need for the post. What it doesn’t distract from is that the post was at the request of the COP. What is doesn’t take away from is the issue is long moribund.

    My question remains what is the point of prolonging such an issue. The few persons who are paying attention are beginning to speculate. In the meantime can the last person paying attention, please turn out the lights!

    @TheOG Around two years ago i pointed out on this same BLOG the “assinity” (new word) of that math and using math to obfuscate reality and i can tell yuh i did math at CXC at got a One. As far as i know, voting is not MANDATORY. The 40% of the registered voters that did not vote, were they prevented to vote???? NO!!!……They SUBJECTED themselves to what the other 60% VOTED FOR, that is what our democratic system allows for SINCE 1951!!!! If those 40% was SO disgusted toward one party or a next they could have gone and voted to EFFECT change. Our democracy allows for a parliament be created regardless of how many registered voters turn out unless the turnout was absolute 0. Using proportional representation is not that much different IN THIS REGARD because it still depends on people voting PERIOD.

    The POINT i was trying to make is even if Ms Mottley came out and apologize, would it make people feel better and make prior facts LESS HORRIBLE?? I am more consoled that the actions done by a govt was done for the right reasons and not for self aggrandizement. . It was just that the PROCESS was not allowed to be completed to END due to COVID-19.

    Isn’t it amazing that you pointed out the “last administration got 23% of the vote’ and when I pointed out that you got
    less than 50% of all eligible voters you got irritated.

    I do not dispute the legitimacy of the current administration, but your “regardless of how many registered voters turn out unless the turnout was absolute 0” is some concern. If a single person went to the polling district in each constituency, would you feel good with a 30-0 victory? That says a lot about you.

    I know it is extremely difficult to get our head around certain facts.

    There really is no Team BLP or Team DLP. The people in power would like to maintain this notion for it gives them a known enemy that they can rail against. Meanwhile Team Barbados suffer a series of deadly wounds from BDLP.

    The “two legs good, four legs bad” chant is meaningless. Count me in the 35% that are outside looking in.

    when the present AG issued his mea culpa and said he would amend the Police ACT to reflect the additional DC, this issue was settled, until MAM decided to intervene.

    no amount of revisionist history will change that and no attempt to dismiss this as a minor will make it go away anytime soon. it will eventually but as the “youngest ever QC and a successful AG” MAM should have known the the law including parliamentary procedure, or at least let the decisiont of her AG stand unless she has no confidence in his legal dexterity.

    the pre-COVID 6% primary surplus,
    the FX reserves at one of the highest levels that we’ve seen standing at 20 weeks,
    the overall success thus far of BERT as judged by the independent SP Monitoring Committee and the even more independent IMF economists,
    the excellent work of the Household Mitigation Unit,
    the reverse tax credit and the compensatory income tax credit
    the FEED program,
    the TAP program,
    new buses,
    new garbage trucks,
    millions spent in rebuilding reservoirs to hopefully go along way in alleviating the challenges experienced by northern folk with respect to water,
    and the list goes on and on and on.

    I am not a partisan of any political party here or oversea. But those facts are immutable. And no amount of empty, unsubstantiated hot air can take away from the real benefits being enjoyed by real Barbadians in this country. I guess these benefits extend only to real people and not mindless folks whose only ability extends to bashing their keyboards lololol.

    (1) There was a disconnect between management and implementation with respect to the layoffs in 2018.
    (2) Government has had to reschedule starting dates for various things a little too often,
    (3) sometimes due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, and other times because there was lack of appropriate consideration and foresight.
    (4)And there are others too I could mention.

    (5) This instance could amount to a technical omission or an incomplete process.

    I wouldn’t call you as a witness for my defense …

    As long as IMF and creditors get paid, they will say anything, if any payments are missed or don’t materialize….ya will see the VERY VAST DIFFERENCE…..there should be no payments missed though, not with the tens of millions being borrowed, it seems like every week.

    5. I am most certainly not aware that entire manifestoes are implemented whole as I didn’t know we reside in a utopia. So please point me to such a thing. Anyone can go through the manifesto and check off so many things already done and well on their way to being completed. Unlike the DLP who in the 90’s made it quite clear that the manifesto to them is not a sacred covenant.

    And look at what those awful consultants have done to Barbados. Take two: Amb Mascoll and Prof. Persaud. They have advised government in such a way that the dollar was saved, surplus was achieved, UWI was returned, investor confidence was being stimulated, capital works projects were grinding again. Those disgusting White Oak people get paid $27 million and in return they are saving the country $1 billion a year (as they have already). Well look at those disgusting vagabonds doh! The Dems had the right idea. You ought to employ a consultant at Transport Board, who when he demits office leaves less buses than when he came in. Now that’s cool.
