By Dr. Derek Alleyne

Many of the current policy and programme directions pursued by the administration of Mia Mottley represent less a new political philosophy than a resurgence of the governance model associated with the era of Tom Adams.

At its core, that model reflected an authoritarian, top-down approach to decision-making, one rooted in hierarchical management, where policies, priorities, and programmes were formulated centrally by political leadership and then imposed downward for implementation with limited grassroots input or participatory engagement.

The philosophy placed political authority at the centre of national life.

Older Barbadians would remember the infamous “Lionel Craig vow,” a doctrine suggesting that anything associated with the Democratic Labour Party, whether Douglas Leopold Phillips or anyone else, would be met with political starvation. Debate has long surrounded the origins and precise wording of the statement, but its practical implications became embedded within a system where political office increasingly determined access, opportunity, and influence.

  1. All fingers always point to political engagement.

  2. Oh no! The political is merely one facet of national culture.

Merely symbolic of a much deeply rot, at the centre.

    An example from far away.

Over the last few day Emmanuel Macron, the little man of Europe, was co-hosting the Afrika Forward summit in Kenya with William Ruto, a genuine White man’s ass wipe.

Indeed, 30 other Afrikan leaders attended France’s attempt to compensate for its loses in the Sahel and other former socalled Francophone countries by turning the French imperial machinery of exploitation to socalled Anglophone Afrika. A mini Berlín Conference reduz, 1884 – 1885.

And Macron appears in Kenya even as French and NATO sponsored terrorists are being mopped up after 12,000 of them attempted to reverse the revolutionary governments of Mali, Níger and Burkino Faso – the land of upright men. If Afrikans leaders had any integrity no one would have shown up. However, William Ruto signed with Macron the very type of security deals others found one-sided, neo-colonial. Deals which kept Afrika poor for centuries.

France is pretending that a leopard can change its spots. We highly doubt!

Both Ruto and Macron are friends of Mia Mottley. Even as Mottley herself talks about Pan-Afrikanism and led the Afrikan Unión in designating the Caribbean as the Sixth Region of Afrika, these un-upright men, including Mia Mottley, central desire is to remain as tetthered to European or American empires as before. Committed to dying with empire, if needs be!

France’s deeply held, recalcitrant attitudes continue to predominate even as Ibrahim Traore, Assumi Goita and Abdourahemane Tchiani of a revolutionary Sahel uion-state attempts to break the stranglehold over the minds of the international Afrikan.

There remains one characteristic of the kinds of slaves, such as William Ruto. Like the proverbial Sambos, as were the other 30 Afrikan leaders turning up in Kenya, Mia Amor Mottley and the genus of all those in Barbados who will lead us are no better modern-day slaves than the much vaunted Sambos. Sambos with the characteristic ivories frontally displayed in a permanent and humiliating submission to massa.

This is just a strand of the deeper roots of what others misguidedly continue to see as a problem with purely and entirely local dimensions. That mentality presumes that a mere bandage, appeals for reparations and the pretenses about Afrikan centeredness alone could cure these festering cultural wounds. They are, were and will be always be wrong

  3. BREAKING:

WITH BARBADOS’ INVESTMENT IN VIRGIN ATLANTIC AIRWAYS – OWNED BY RICHARD BRANSON, THIS DORKY, QUIRKY IMAGE OF A MAN SOME THINK WAS A COOL GENIUS IS NOTHING BUT – FOR ONGOING EXPOSURE ON THIS MAN PROVE THAT HE IS MORE OF A SERIAL EPSTEIN PREDATOR & AN OVERALL NASTY PIECE OF WORK OF HUMAN FILTH

#RichardBranson was NOT* a #SuperIQ – he was simply “SUPER CONNECTED” within the “CABAL” of #LuciferianDemons!!!

In late January 2026, it was revealed that long after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for “SEX CRIMES”, Branson was still engaging with him in a shockingly casual manner, which has led to significant backlash & reputational damage!!!

In a September 2013 email, written [4] years after Epstein served time for soliciting a minor, Branson told the “CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER”: “Any time you’re in the area would love to see you. AS LONG AS YOU BRING YOUR HAREM!!!”

Perhaps more damaging than the flippant language is the fact that Branson appears to have offered Epstein “STRATEGIC PUBLIC RELATIONS ADVICE” on how to rehabilitate his image following his sex crimes conviction!!!

In the same email chain, BRANSON ADVISED EPSTEIN TO GET BILL GATES TO VOUCH FOR HIM”, & suggested a “SCRIPT” for Epstein to use publicly:

*”You slipped up many years ago by sleeping with a 17 year old woman & were punished for it… you’ve more than learnt your lesson… as a single man you seem to have a penchant for women. But there’s nothing wrong with that.”*

THE BRASSBALLS OF THESE NEFARIOUS BASTERDS

Earlier emails from April 2013 discuss logistics for Epstein to visit Branson’s private Necker Island…

In one itinerary, Epstein’s assistant adds names to the travel party, including “2 RUSSIAN GIRLS”!!!

Furthermore, Epstein offered to pick Branson up in a helicopter to take him to his private island – #LittleStJames (infamously known as “PEDOPHILE ISLAND”)!!!

Like a lot of these #DirtyBasterdBillionaires, claims that Branson participated in Epstein’s crimes remain unproven, (only allegations), but from a perception of moral insensitivity & willful ignorance is blindingly obvious!!!

While there is no “KNOWN” evidence from the % of files “RELEASHED” that Richard Branson committed a crime, the emails make him look “NAIVELY” complicit at best & a “JERK” at worst!!!

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE STOKED AS THE TITANS OF INDUSTRY – LOADED WITH BLOOD MONEY, & ARE BEING BILLED AS ROCK-STARS – WHEN THERE ARE JUST NASTY, STINKING, HUMANOID CREATURES

  4. A question for Dr: Alleyne.

You have been close to the leadership of the DLP, what programs, initiatives did you champion when your party held the highest office? Barbadians have reached a point where they have become apathetic and cynical at the mouthings of politicos. We need to change it up for the good of improving life on the rock.

  5. WHAT WOULD ANY CASUAL OBSERVER THINK, FAR LESS SOMEONE LIKE DR ALLEYNE IN ADUMBRATING THE MADNESS OF A ONE-PARTY APPARATUS WHO HAS BEEN MANDATED THRICE*** WITH SUCH POLIETICAL LEVERAGE TO DO AS THEY PLEASE WITHOUT CHECKS, BALANCES OR ACCOUNTABILITY

    #Welcome2TheUSSR “TWO POINT ZERO”!!!

    #HereAreMyObservations

Dr. Alleyne’s core analysis argues that the current “MOTTLEY-CREW GOV* “administration under PM Mottley is reviving an “authoritarian, top-down approach to decision-making” similar to the “TOM ADAMS” era!!!

    SOMETHING I REMEMBER VERY WELL

This model is characterized by centralized control, where policies & priorities are formulated by political leadership with “limited grassroots input or participatory engagement…”

    SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE

PoLIEtical dominance & poLIEtical authority is placed “at the centre of national life…”

THE JIST OF DR ALLEYNE’S CENTRAL ARGUMENT

    (1) Conditional access has become a system where “political office increasingly determined access, opportunity, and influence,” reminiscent of the historical “Lionel Craig vow” mentality…

    (2) Civic engagement has seen an erosion of trust & withdrawal, where citizens feel their input is performative or ignored, leading to apathy, lower voter turnout, & a decline in volunteerism for community boards, unions, or NGOs…

    (3) Policy effectiveness posits unintended consequences & resistance & without local insight, central policies may fail on the ground. Implementation faces passive resistance (“we know better”) or active sabotage!!!

    (4) Social cohesion is being lost, as deepening patronage & resentment grows – where access to jobs, contracts, or favors becomes tied to political loyalty. This creates an insider/outsider dynamic, fueling resentment & perceptions of injustice!!!

    (5) Innovation & adaptation has become stagnation, where top-down systems are slow to react to local or global changes. Fear of challenging authority stifles creative problem-solving from civil servants, academics, and/or entrepreneurs…

    (6) Governance quality is negated by increased corruption risk, with concentrated power without robust, independent oversight increases the risk of cronyism & elite capture of state resources for personal or party benefit!!!

    (7) International standing risk serious reputational damage, due to these authoritarian trends, even if democratic in form, they can deter foreign investment, draw criticism from international bodies, & weaken “SOFT POWER” based on a reputation for stable democracy…

    THE VERDICT

If Dr. Alleyne’s thesis is correct, then Barbados would likely be facing a slow, quiet crisis – not a collapse of institutions, but a hollowing out of democratic vitality…

The nation would risk becoming more politically stable on the surface, but socially brittle, economically less dynamic, & increasingly disconnected from the very people it aims to serve…

Apathy sets in (IF NOT ALREADY), patronage wanes, & a brain drain of frustrated talented young people (BOLT), which would be the predictable long-term outcomes, for a GOV* that cares only about its own future offshore bank accounts in the Cayman Island & elsewhere!!!

    HOPELESSNESS INTERDICT

To truly fathom what is happening, Bajans would need to weigh this serious critique against a range of evidence, such as independent indices (e.g., Democracy Index, Freedom in the World), reports from local civil society groups, academic studies on Barbadian governance, & the actual policy outcomes & public response to the “MOTTLEY-CREW GOV* administration…

Ultimately, a nation that “IGNORES” such observations from its thoughtful citizens like Dr Alleyne, risks the consequences described…

A nation however that debates these “ISSUES” openly has a better chance of course-correction…

  6. All governments engage in a centralized form of decision making. Nothing new here. The difference is that a smart government gives the appearance of involving others.

  7. bandwagonist soundbites Avatar
    bandwagonist soundbites

Politicians bandwagonist soundbites do come from the people. They are talking parrots imitating original ideas grabbed from the net, but they don’t really listen to what the people are saying and get it all twisted while trying to get their toe hold.
My comments from QE printing money, avoiding skunk, protests not stopping wars, the orange wingnut, fighting racists by becoming awakened and many more have been robbed by the full spectrum of Gov and left right and far left right pussies who don’t know difference between right and wrong.
All politicians are half brains who think they are the shit.

  8. This article is EXACTLY similar to a piece that says effectively, that sugar is sweet, and the sea is wet.
    Duhhh!!!

Bushie was MUCH more impressed by BU’s PieceUhDeRock’s (bless his memory) detailed prediction of the Mugabe-styled chasm that this current lot would take Brassbados into.

The only surprise for Bushie is that the BB brass bowls seem to be quite happy with the recurring loads of jobby being dished out…

    @ David
What is the point of your question to Dr Alleyne…?
…we must accept our fate as shit-takers?
…only those who are perfect must point out CLEAR brassbowlery?

Well stinking Bushie admits being a brass bowl Bajan, …but will NEVER cease to shout out LOUDLY when any shiite or piss is aimed in Bushie’s general direction.
…so don’t come asking the Bushman “if he ain’t a brass bowl too…”

    @ Terence
The Sodomic cabal of global henchmen currently in ‘power’ CANNOT be a surprise – if we understand that the world in currently under the control of the demonic, dark, forces of evil. Who did you think would run things in Hell? …Saints?

The only surprise to Bushie is that there still remain a VERY few who have the balls to stand up and call out the wickedness.
You must know that this is ONLY POSSIBLE via divine intervention…
But Psalms 37 provides insight into the coming outcomes for these short-term-mafia types.

    @ Pacha
Africa, Brassbados, everywhere … Same difference!
Black traitors who have become super albino-centrics and sold their souls to the demons of darkness for the love of money and ‘powa’.
We should just celebrate the few such as Traoré and Caswell here, who have been blessed with the balls to hold up a small light in the darkness of this world current wickedness.

    Thank you too Terence.
…and thanks to BU David for providing the candle.
    LOL
If Pacha ever gets to see the REAL light, it will be cat piss and peppa in the Satanic Cabal’s tail FUH REAL… even without mushrooms and guillotines …ha ha ha

    Too sweet den!
    What a time!

  9. @Bush Tea

By your postulations on the blog for years now, damascene moments do present. Perhaps Dr. Alleyne has had an encounter?

  10. We talk about the youth and the importance of giving them hope, something to aspire to. Why would we contract a Trini artist to partner on this?

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYNfFF2lcXv/

  11. Daily across Barbados we hear of cases of robbery, physical assaults and other crimes NOT reported to the police but mentioned on social media. Instead we take comfort in pushing our heads in the sand.

Barbados Underground’s predictions are being realized sad to sad, whether on governance matters, crime, waste management, transportation etc.

  12. @David,

The Trini artist has Bajan roots.

  13. @Hants

That being the case it does not change the fact she presents as a Trini.

  14. Possibly.

Trinidadian soca artiste Nailah Blackman and Barbadian Minister of Education Transformation Chad Blackman met in May 2026.
    Blackmans could be related.

  15. What you call autocracy and totalitarianism is, to me, a true people’s democracy, where the Supreme Leader sacrifices herself out of love for her people.

Let’s put the small details aside for a moment and look at the big picture: Soon we’ll be debt-free and, riding on Guyana’s coattails, we’ll be leaving the rest of America in the dust.

    Tron
    fair and balanced

  16. Bushie

You always complaining bout de mushrooms and de guillotines.

Wid all this wickedness bout de place, like a true Afrikan it must be confronted.

But neither you nor your Boss Man ain’t doing one shiiiite bout um.

Except mekking all kinds of empty promises.

Pacha can’t help but confront um, even if beyond this writers pay grade.

However, it’s you and your Boss Man whose work this should have long been. But up to now wunna ain’t do not even one brassbowl bout um.

Spare Pacha more of the book talk. We don’t know wha kind dah Boss Man there could be who’s always missing In action. Who never comes when called upon. LoL.😝

  18. The daily shootings continue per usual these days.

Gun violence sparks fear in Black Rock

A shooting incident on Wednesday night has spread fear in the Clevedale, Black Rock, St Michael community after gunmen sprayed the area of Plum Tree Road with bullets and left three people injured.

The gunplay sent mainly women with children scampering to safety and renewed calls for something to be done about the violence.

When the Weekend Nation visited the area just after noon yesterday, there was a stillness in the air.

Marva Hoyte was gripped by fear when the gunshots rang out in the neighbourhood and for a heart-stopping moment, one of the victims ran between her home. He was seeking cover from the bullets behind galvanised sheets.

Several of those bullets damaged the pedestal in her verandah, the side of her home, as well as the wooden door and galvanised sheets at the back of the home.

She said the neighbourhood was not known for any such occurrences.

“I want [Prime Minister] Mia [Mottley] to bring back hanging because when a man can walk down some place and start to shoot at people just so, it means that they don’t care nothing about other people’s lives. If they hear hanging come, they know they would dead and that would make them stop,” she said.

Police said the shooting incident occurred about 7:47 p.m. along Plum Tree Road, St Stephens Hill, Black Rock, when two men exited a white car and walked along the road while discharging a number of gunshots.

Three people received injuries along with the damage to Hoyte’s house. One of the injured people were transported in a private vehicle to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he received medical treatment. The two other persons, a man and a woman, were seen by ambulance personnel and declined to seek further medical aid.

Another resident from the area expressed concern about what could have happened since there were several children who lived and played in the area.

The woman, who did not want her name mentioned, said that moments before the gunplay, her grandmother had closed her shop and went home next door. Soon after, she ended up having to drop to the floor with her one-year-old grandchild when the shots were fired.

Still shaking with fright, the grandmother managed to get to the door and closed it to prevent anyone from entering.

Another resident who also asked to remain anonymous, was outside with her daughter when she heard the gunshots. She was first in disbelief, assuming someone was hitting galvanised sheets only to realise what was happening when other shots followed. She immediately darted inside her home and out of harm’s way with her daughter.

She called for crime and violence to end, noting the incident now placed a bad stain on the quiet community.

“It needs to end, because none of them that do the shooting live out here. They should not be doing stupid things somewhere where they don’t live. They now come and put a bad name out here,” she said.

Another resident said several women with children in the area tried to shield and carry them to safety, noting one woman was trying to run out of the car with her one-month-old baby and her son and ended up squeezing the baby’s leg in the car, leaving a scar. (AJ)
