  1. @Donna,
It was not I who first referred to the response of some BU bloggers as braying.

I listed four categories of brayers.. the loyalists, the opposition, those who examine each item of news, and the corruption fighter.

I would like to think I am in category three and I thought of Wura as in category 4. Items 1 and 2 know themselves.
So I included myself. Given my melodious voice, perhaps I should have said symphony.

My list was not exhaustive and I saw where one or two other bloggers (in my opinion) commented on the word bray.

  2. Anyone who wants to know what flight arrivals at Grantley Adams follow this link
The authorities will say and do anything not to be opened and truthful as the cases escalate
The frightful thought of allowing people enter from hot spots would not allowed those in charge to speak the truth

    https://www.gaia.bb/content/find-your-flight

  3. @ David,

11.5 % of those tested were positive for covid 19

    https://percentagecalculator.net/

  4. @ Marposa,

It was reported by the UK media over the last two weeks that airliners are operating “ghost” flights throughout the world in order not to lose their slots/schedules at numerous world wide airports. It is an arrangement made by airliners and airports. I cannot see the logic of running empty planes, especially as the tourist industry will remain in a comatose state for the rest of the year. Perhaps Artax or someone else on BU is familiar with this protocol and can explain how it works.

  5. BLP, BLP OR expleted deleted P.I.M.P( credit to 50 Cent.

WE ARE ALL AFFECTED IN VARYING DEGREES BY COVID 19.

Barbados has an additional problem. Drought. How can people wash their hands frequently when having to ration water ?

Government could consider investing sea water desalination plants.

Phone a friend and ask for a loan. Remind Justin Trudeau that his late father was a friend. lol

  6. Mariposa and Waru you two don, t get tired posting shite everyday 24/7.The government and the health officials trying their utmost to keep the place as safe as possible and you two along with Austin and Baje talking a load of shite.Hear Baje the fine for breaking the curfew is harsh.Well jackass advise the idiots to stay off the streets or face the consequences.I say make an example of a few of them see how fast the others straighten up.

  7. Extracts from Greenville Phillips post 53mins ago

    Cutting It Close.

Today, we were informed that we now have a total of 33 COVID-19 positive cases after yesterday’s testing. Last Monday, we had 17. Which means that if we have just one case today, we would have achieved exponential growth in one week. At that time, it would be out of control.

Time will tell whether we were 5 days too late, since the clear trend that we would have had exponential growth in 1 week, was known to the COVID-19 management team on Wednesday 25 March 2020. At that time, we were getting 3 cases per day.

Not Closing Our Borders to Visitors.

We are gravely concerned that we are not closing our borders to visitors. We are disappointed with the Government’s consistent response in confusing cargo with visitors, despite them being repeatedly informed that no one is calling for stopping cargo.

A plan is only as strong as its weakest link. Allowing visitors to Barbados without testing each of them for COVID-19 (not a temperature reading) is a paper link in a chain of steel.

    Foreseen Tragedy.

Construction sites are one of the most dangerous places to work, and play. Children find them a fascinating place to play.

The PM gave a press conference on Thursday night confirming that a night curfew would be in place. Therefore, contractors went to work on Friday, with the understanding that they would resume work on Monday.

On Friday, the Government started debating in the House and Senate about a day curfew, and there was confusion. Around noon on Friday, the COVID-19 hotline was still confirming that the curfew was night only. I do not know when they started giving different advice.

On Friday night, the Government confirmed that there would be a day and night curfew. However, some construction sites were left in a state where they may be structurally unstable and vulnerable to collapse.

A govt without foresight is a govt doomed to fail the people and country in times of trouble

  8. I agree with ogazertz in the last year you have gone from. We fathering to we gathering to we blathering Now if you you can get down to we lathering you might be able to avoid a spike

  9. Pea Brain

Who own the Websieve/ link that u put up about the flights to Barbados?

Is it not own by the AirPort?
    And who own the AirPort?

The information us there for the public ti have East access to ( as u have provided) yet the giverment is hiding

U providing evidence to destroy the false arguement you trying to make

You so damn foolish or u just cant find nothing else better to do?

  10. TSLN
There are people who are willing to fly at spots that are not highly affected especially if they are in areas where the virus is out of control
Example New york and a couple other states
If the focus is on stemming the flow of the virus worldwide
It begs the question why would Barbados open its airport to these visitors
Only a couple days ago media reported people coming here from the UK one of which was a national

  11. Which media reported that and on what day?

  12. And why should a bajan national be kept out?

You said the oppositio when it was the trini 35

Also. Tell me who would want to leave tiheitä country to vacation in another country Where the first 14 days they have to be in quaratine?

You trying to spread maximum impact fear that you one and only AIM!

  13. The $50,000 is meant to focus the gravity of the situation.

Really? I thought the purpose of the fine was to enforce upon tho who actually break the curfew?

Why not have a more sensible fine, say $100-200 and enforce it rigorously? Instead we have a ‘notional’ $50K, criminalisation and the usual ‘magistrate’s discretion’ which almost always translates to unfairness aimed at the poor and vulnerable.

    Typical Bajan woolly thinking.

  14. I have not heard of anyone thats infect needing advance treatment

Good new ( that u will never hear from mariposa) the individuals in the first two cases should be outoa quartine in about 2-3 days.

    Fearmonger can only see death

  15. Isät the gine $ 5k instead of 50k?

  16. Spot on, it is called the Bajan condition.

  17. @ Lorenzo March 29, 2020 3:24 PM

Thanks for the official message. Our slogan shall be to stay alert, but not to panic.

Under no circumstances should we allow ourselves to panic, although the USA, UK and Italy are sinking. We are Barbados. It is a fact that the health system in the USA and UK is far from as good as Barbados. I want people to stop bad-mouthing the island. Also: The China virus is much easier to contain on an island; furthermore, there is no scientific evidence that the tropical conditions do not prevent the China virus from fast spreading.

Some commentators do not want to understand that we, as a vulnerable, small economy, are trying to strike a balance between containing the pandemic and preserving the economy. We must prepare for the day X, when the tourists will come back.

Our government is a godsend for the island. If the DLP were in power in these difficult times, we would have already experienced total panic and death in a civil war.

  18. DOn’t know how many times you have to tell the hardheaded that the virus has A DISTINCT PATTERN…you can get thousands testing positive before you get the first death…again, please stop boasting about your education system, it is embarrassing…

even more embarrassing that you are so easily fooled.

all the information has been there since December and yet none of you, with the exception of a few, seem to be able to understand it…

Germany has over 1,500 confirmed cases but only 3 deaths so far…follow the pattern.

Trindad had over 50 cases before they got their first death, now they have 3…follow the pattern..

  19. @ Tron
** furthermore, there is no scientific evidence that the tropical conditions do not prevent the China virus from fast spreading.**

False!. A better way to put it is that there is no evidence that this novel virus will exhibit winter seasonality like the other known strains of coronavirus.

High rates of infection have occurred in tropical areas with high absolute humidity, such as in Guangxi, China and Singapore.

There is no reason to believe that cold weather can kill the new coronavirus since the normal human body temperature is around 36.5°C to 37°C, regardless of the external temperature or weather.

    See here:
    http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~msantill/Mauricio_Santillana/Publications_files/Luo_et_al_2020_Absolute_Humidity_R0_COVID-19.pdf

  20. At least this new dude seems to understand the pattern of the virus, hope he follows it very closely..

    “No COVID-19 patients cleared yet

All 33 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Barbados are in isolation and the vast majority of them are showing only mild symptoms, according to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anton Best.

The top Government medical official said today: “Some of the [patients] are what I would consider to be moderate, in that we are keeping our eyes on them very closely with a guarded optimism.”

On the question of recovery of COVID-19 patients, Dr. Best said it was way too early to speak of this.

“We are not even two full weeks of having our very first case … or into the start of this epidemic. We have tested people who have recovered in terms of their symptoms but when we retested them, they are still showing positives. So, only when you do that test that we use for diagnosis and it turns up negative, that we can say that person has definitively recovered,” the medic emphasised. (IMC”

  21. Pea Brain

I here at the busiest AirPort in the world. The place like a Ghost town
What so special about Barbados that got these plane loads of potential infect persons coming in when even travel from one State to another barely happening?
Barbados got to have something special and i know it not just the rum

  22. @ Hal

BAJANS HAVE A PERVERSE SICKNESS WHEN IT COMES TO THEIR OWN BLACK PEOPLE DEMISE.

THE USUAL IDIOT COMES ON THE BU BLOG TO CALL PEOPLE JACKASSES BECAUSE THEY DISAGREE WITH A $50,000 FINE OR IMPRISONMENT OF 1 YEAR PROPOSED BY THEIR BLP GOVERNMENT BUDDIES.

YET IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS IN DERBYSHIRE ENGLAND LAST NIGHT SATURDAY THE POLICE WAS CALLED TO A RESIDENCE AT 10PM FOR A KAROKE PARTY OF AROUND 25 PEOPLE INCLUDING YOUNG PEOPLE/CHILDREN WITH PLENTY FOOD AND DRINKS.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/coronavirus-police-karaoke-party-lockdown-155617425.html

DESPITE THESE FOLKS BREAKING THE LOCKDOWN IMPOSED BY THE UK GOVERNMENT WHICH HAS AN EPIDEMIC AT THE MOMENT THE POLICE DISBURSED EVERYONE WITH NO FINES OR BEING TAKEN TO JAIL TO FACE THE LAW COURTS.

I COULD BET THIS GROUP WERE MAINLY WHITE BRITISH.

    EITHER WAY NO ONE PUNISHED.

HOWEVER BLACKS IN BARBADOS WANT TO SEE OTHER BLACKS INCLUDING YOUNGSTERS HEAVILY FINED OR JAILED.TO FULFILL THE BLP GOVERNMENT AGENDA.

Pay attention to what people are saying about the govt blp yardfowls wunna might learn something
The above comment says enough about the blp govt
Take note a bunch of blunders and no measures have been seriously given sufficient thought before thrown at the public
As i keep saying Prevention is better than cure
Reading the above quote by GP makes for wonder to ask
    What is govt smoking

  24. @ Baje

It is the style of policing: one style is with the consent of the people; the other the people are the enemy. In the UK the model is the four Es: engage the suspect; explain the reason for the regulation; encourage them to comply; and, failing all that enforcement of the regulation, including arrest.
    Our police are largely unarmed.

  25. For disobeying the curfew, maximum fine is $50,000 BDS; for MP’s supplying false info re assets and liabilities on their declaration form re proposed integrity legislation maximum fine is $10,000 BDS

    PRIORITIES,PRIORITIES,PRIORITIES!

THE ENEMY IN THE BARBADOS CONTEXT ARE ONLY USEFUL ONCE EVERY 5 YEARS WHEN BLP AND DLP POLITICIANS GO LYING AND HOODWINKING THE MASSES FOR THEIR VOTES TO THEN CONTROL AND LINE THEIR POCKETS.

    “MIA CARES”.

  27. I am amazed that 33 positive cases out of 287 tests is not causing those of you living in Barbados concern.

multiply the numbers by 10 or 20.

Any competent statisticians on BU ? I only know how to do simple arithmetic.

  28. Hal narwhal tusks seem like weapons to me

  29. Hear Austin it is a different style of policing and Baje the police disburse the crowd and no one was arrested. No wonder Barbados is in the state it is in.A curfew has been put in place to curb person to person contact which was fully explained and rather than advise persons to stay off the stteet thesr two so called intellivenyt persons want thr government via the police to treat these idiots with kid gloves so that their friends vould join them and cause complete chaos. I say no make an example of them and all will get the message as this soft soaping of of wsnnabe thugs does not work.As for .s Mottley i wish her a speedy recovery and by her lesderdhip in this crisis alone shows she cares much motr about bajans than you.Ms Mottley do not disclose your illness to the malicious Austin since his hero Mr Thompson never revealed his for months while flying back and forth on clico, s private jet which was fine withAustin at the time.

    .

  30. Lorenzo,

You’re absolutely right. It says a lot about the notorious and rebellious BU critics that even when Mia Mottley is temporarily ill, they attack her. Some people apparently don’t give a damn about the fate of Barbados or are even happy when the island burns. That’s terrible.

We should all pray that our leader will soon recover and be at the wheel of HMS Barbados to steer the island through the dangerous cliffs called IMF and China Virus.

I lit three candles today. One for the Goddess Bim, one for God !Xu and one for God Agwu. It is never wrong to summon several Old Gods at once.

  31. Short memories…when you hear 33 cases always multiply the given number by at least 10, that is the amount of people most likely walking around infected….this info was given everywhere already…short memories.

am sure this will have to repeated a few more times before it sticks in the heads of some, then they say ya repeating the same things, when they can’t remember one shite if ya don’t.

  32. Hear Austin it is a different style of policing and Baje the police disburse the crowd and no one was arrested. No wonder Barbados is in the state it is in.

THE ABOVE EXPLAINS WHY BARBADOS IN THE STATE IT IS IN 2020.

    PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

    “MIA CARES”.

  33. Some here on BU are practicing social distancing by distancing them selves from the facts
Some one said that one infected person can account for 10 people infected as said by govt
    Now we have 33 officially
X10 walking around some where -33 accounted for
Mia got this under control yuh hear

  34. Baje

A man was breaking the curfew brught and esrly last night

He get Locked up or fined?

  35. @WURA-War-on-U March 29, 2020 12:28 PM “As for the water, should’nt the aquifiers be filled by now, with the Corona they don’t have to give or sell water to cruise ships anymore for a very long time, so we should not be hearing about water problems by June…or there is something else going on?”

March is always the driest month of the year

  36. Mari

Where u get the part …. as said by goverment …….from?

By distancing urself from the truth?

  37. There is no solidarity at all in CARICOM. Trixobago does not even take its own citizens back and treat them like lepers. It is quite different in the European Union. Germany is accepting more and more sick citizens from France and Italy for hospital treatment.

When the crisis is over, all CARICOM states should decide on a common position against Trixobago.

  38. This woman just glad to Juno on anything she think is negative to happen Barbados

Even if she think 339 infected it something to boast about

    Sick in her pea

    @ Mariposa

    Your above comments are nonsense.

It is sheer WICKEDNESS for you to IMPLY ‘government’ is allowing scores of visitors from countries “where the virus is out of control” to enter Barbados ‘willy nilly’ and SPREAD it ALL OVER the island.

You’re obsessed with criticizing the ‘government.’ It’s clear you’re ‘making up things as you go’ and spewing mischievous allegations for which there aren’t any shreds of evidence, just to fulfill your silly political agenda.

According to you, “some here on BU are practicing social distancing by distancing them selves from the facts,”…….. you on the other hand, “are practicing social distancing by distancing yourself from the TRUTH.”

Successful contact tracing is bound to produce that result.

  42. Baje

Why u avoiding answering the simple little question?

I all comes down to the policing
The ones in englanniksi get let off and d one in Barbados get let off

So what the big fuss about?

You is the on who bring the englanniksi senario

I can back up comments with proof by simply looking at the Grantley Adams website and the area of departure via arrivals to barbados
So to say i talking nonsense is political posturing
Only today media reports stated that the govenor in fla had stepped up security checks at their borders to look for people coming from hot spots
This is nothing new after all people would seek the safest place they belive is for refuge
If barbados numbers remain low while other countries like America rises as long as the airport remains open the possibility remains that those people would come no ifs ands or but a reality that defines survival if necessary
So what is your question now….

  45. @WURA-War-on-U March 29, 2020 6:00 PM “At least this new dude seems to understand the pattern of the virus, hope he follows it very closely… Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anton Best.”

    A scholar and a gentleman.

  46. What i am sick and tired (of) is this ongoing belief that i am happy that the virus is on the island
That is far from the truth
A blind man on a trotting horse could have made the same assessment
However i would not stop short of placing blame where it ought to be for the upward trend in numbers
From early one i took a strong position for closing the ports with exceptions
I stand by my comments then and now
This issue is not about being supportive by any means necessary built on a foundation of patriotism but built on a foundation that is practical and one which can support the health care system in times of crisis
One also which is duty bound ethically and morally to the people
I cannot and will not support a measure which can lead to catastrophic endings for the people well being whilst holding hands with a govt under the guise of patriotism
    Hypocrite i am not

    No.

The police engaged the suspect, explained the reason for the regulation, encouraged the person(s) to comply

    Did not need to arrest.
