I read the below article in Barbados Today.
I had to laugh at the logic behind Adonijah’s reasoning. After all, he referred to Dr.Baird’s position as one engendered from ignorance. In fact, the appellation can be applied to his position as well.
Attached is an article from the Daily Mail – Does marijuana make people violent? Washington state’s murder and assault rate surged 40% after drug was legalized – and experts insist that’s not a coincidence – which he would do well to peruse. I am amazed that persons without adequate scientific training can be so dogmatic in the positions taken when dealing with topics, the pros and cons of which require in depth scientific analysis.
Here is the Barbados Today article:
Rastafari movement blasts religious leader’s criticism of marijuana
Article by
Barbados Today Published on
January 17, 2019A Rastafari movement has blasted Reverend Dr Lucille Baird for suggesting that legalizing marijuana had the potential to destroy society.Speaking recently, Baird condemned what she called the sudden introduction of medical marijuana legislation as Barbadians were grappling with economic challenges.“While Barbadians were under the anaesthesia of the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) programme, and anxious about the layoffs and the other issues associated with that, they got injected with legalized medical marijuana,” she said.“. . . It can potentially cause long-term devastating effects on this nation, as other much bigger countries have experienced since making similar moves,” Baird, the head of Mount Zion Missions also added. However, spokesperson for the Ichirouganaim Council for the Advancement of Rastafari (ICAR) Adonijah has refuted those suggestions.Referring to Baird’s comments as “ignorant misinformation” Adonijah said Baird had no such evidence to support her claims.“Dr Lucille Baird blithely speaks of the ‘devastating effect on this nation as much bigger countries have experienced’ if cannabis is decriminalized, without bothering to provide a scrap of evidence.“Here is a question for her. Has she heard of any ‘devastating effects’ in Canada since legalization? What about Holland and Uruguay?” Adonijah questioned. While pointing out that marijuana had been used in several homeopathic medicines in North America since 1937, he said the Church continued to show a bias towards the natural plant. In fact, Adonijah contended that while the Church continued to oppose the use of marijuana, it was silent on the use of alcohol, which he argued had been proven to affect people’s health as well as to be potentially fatal.“The demonstrated bias of the Church against a natural plant becomes even more curious when one considers its stance on alcohol. While even critics of cannabis are saying that “enough is not known” about cannabis, there can be no doubt about what is known about manufactured alcohol products,” Adonijah stated.“The whole world knows that excess alcohol makes people badly ill, kills people, is responsible for many accidents on the road, is responsible for much domestic abuse and much more that is negative.
“Do we hear the Church arguing with such hysteria that alcohol should be prohibited, once again? Not a peep! But it is all over cannabis with its bias, misinformation and plain lies. Clearly, the Church is much more comfortable with manufactured alcohol, a product which kills, than it is with cannabis, a plant made by God which heals,” he added.

Are you kidding me?
They will be taking marijuana for thirst.
Nope not kidding.
I honestly believe that a significant portion of the medical marijuana will end up on Mangrove landfill, or flushed down the toilet.
So have no idea how unruly patients are.
If people refuse to take their prescribed medicine because they are not aafraid of strokes, heart attacks and amputations what would we believe that they will take their marijuana pills because they are afraid of nausea or pain?
We will be wasting the taxpayers money (again)

Don’t listen to GP bullshit
I am speak from my personal experience …when I worked at Saint Francis Hospital Drug and Alcohol Rehab from 2001 to 2005, I never met a patient who came to the rehab for marijuana addiction …
And added that go and research and you will see that alcohol is more Addictive than marijuana, plus there is no documented evidence of anyone being overdosed from marijuana …
The fact of the matter is, GP did not really know or understand what those two guys were smoking …maybe they used to laced their marijuana ….he really did not know unless he smoked with them…
Nevertheless, let us face it the poor guy was a too young and naive to know or understand anything above lacing marijuana in the 60s …he lived sheltered love life …
So what are you saying…. you have no problem with the doctor smoking up before he looks at you?
Lawson
“The entire medical industry is fraud”
Doctors in their private practice have to pinned some kind of diagnosis on you or how else are they going to pay those big student loans?
And an other fact we often overlook with doctors is fact that they aligned themselves with the Pharmaceutical companies in order to line their pockets …
Think about it fundamentally: how else are doctors and the Pharmaceutical companies that they are in cahoots with going to make money unless they pinned a diagnosis on you,
in order to sell their medication?
Lawson
Talking about being gullible …we the general public is so quick to believe whatever a doctor tells without taking the time to check out if what he or she is say is the best option … just because he or she has the title doctor behind him or her name.

I saw the incompetency of one doctor when I worked at the hospital who prescribed the wrong medication for pregnant woman who came to the ER, that could have damaged the fetus had she taken it.
And the embarrassing thing about it is that after he had realized his mistake he had the nurse run to the parking lot to call the patient back to the ER… and from that day I never put my full confidence in any doctor …

Thanks for the link, post it on the cricket blog below.
Hello!
Did Charles Skeete say that pedophilia should not be legislated against???????? If we define that by the common use as having sexual relations with children then this statement is outrageous.
Are children equipped to make decisions about sexual contacts? Are they expected to be prepared to deal with the consequences? Don’t most mammals have to undergo some sort of training before their parents release them into the wild? Do newborn animals or young animals engage in sex before they mature???????
Any sexual relationship between children and adults is wrong because it would not be between equals. An adult can easily manipulate a child and wield power over him or her. The child would hardly be in a position to demand the rights afforded to a human being.
“England played at the Three Ws Oval this week where the nets were too dangerous to be used for practice and the pitch not good enough for first-class“
This confuses the hell out of me. We have been playing cricket for years and no one can prepare pitches. Have our groundsmen gone the way of our cricketers?
And how much does a net cost? Use a damn fishing net..
Tired of BS being served up as good explanations.
“Some of these islands are incredible small in populations size with very large stadiums left over by the 2007 World Cup. If Antigua get 15,000 to the Sir Viv Richards stadium it is a significant percentage of the 80,000 population of the island attending, probably the equivalent of three million going to Lord’s. It does not mean there is no passion for cricket if there are a few empty seats. ”
It may be too late to ask this question, but here I go…
Did the decision to play test matches in more islands contribute to the demise of WI cricket?
I can see how it would impact the selection of players as you will be forced to include ‘locals’ .
Can you take this discussion to the cricket blog below?
Wi cricket. It’s Mia fault. 🙂 🙂

It was a joke 🙂 🙂
I am way behind on the discussion of legalization/decriminalization/medicinal marijuana.
I am at the point where those who ‘suffered’ in the war on drugs need to be made whole before we can go a step further.
It is naive for us in the Caribbean to think the US will be rushing to buy our weed. In some places the direction of weed flow has been reversed with the higher quality US stuff going south of the border.
When the US gets it’s hypocritical ‘weed acts/laws’ together, many in the Caribbean will find themselves with a lot of weed and no buyers.
It may be naive of me, but many of the mm (medical marijuana) users just want to smoke without being harassed by the police. I said many… not all.
So let’s first go through the prison system and free those who were caught up in the fake war on drugs, clear their names, and pay them damages.. like I said, I am way back there.
What if MM and MM teamed up and use mM to buy mm
Much madness
@ Donna – just one of the unpleasant traits of the barbarian creed of Islam, is its attachment to paedophilia, exemplified by the vile creature Mohammed, ordure be upon him, along with their treatment of women as chattels, and the great hypocrisy of murdering gays while considering the routine sexual abuse of prepubescent boys perfectly OK.
A disgusting sect.
Are you not aware of what is going on in the “new medical marijuana industry”?
Firstly, there is the NATURALLY grown, ORIGINAL plant and there is also the MODIFIED/TAMPERED version.
The modified versions were developed in chemical warfare labs (experimental agent (EA) EA2233- Mj with ENHANCED THC and EA1475-mdma/mali) and tested on the black population of the hip hop culture replacing “real” cannabis.
What was/is the objective?.. the Black Race.
Natural Cannabis has great medicinal value.
CANNABIDIOL (CBD) or (C21H30(OH)2), the non-psychoactive, non-neurodegenerative constituent of cannabis, is the healing medicinal property that balances the “high” negative component also present in natural cannabis. CBD does not give the “high”, THC does and by that, one can prove its veracity.
THC is the non-medicinal, neurodegenerative chemical damaging cells in the brain and lowering testosterone production levels in the testicles.
Understand that testosterone and serotonin are the bio-chemical basis for the “dominance and drive for power” in the Black race, loss or decrease of these biochemicals puts user in sub victorious moods..
Gestating pregnant women significantly damage the fetus (bio-chemically) through use of high THC level marijuana.
Smoke from high THC marijuana produces acidic chemicals call phenols, estrogen enhancing chemicals which acts to create hormone imbalances and changes, “converting” women and men into their opposite sex behaviour.
CBD has been grafted out from 40+% in its natural form to less than 0.5% in the modified version and THC from less than 0.2% to 14+%, to “moon rock” (street name) 40-60% and “Dragon B” (street name) to 90% THC.
Natural HIGH CONTENT (CBD) Cannabis is the most valuable commodity in medical healing remedies .

could you please kindly explain the following statements which you made above, and enlighten us thereon?
1- “Understand that testosterone and serotonin are the bio-chemical basis for the “dominance and drive for power” in the Black race, loss or decrease of these biochemicals puts user in sub victorious moods..”
2 ” Gestating pregnant women significantly damage the fetus (bio-chemically) through use of high THC level marijuana.”
3 “Smoke from high THC marijuana produces acidic chemicals call phenols, estrogen enhancing chemicals which acts to create hormone imbalances and changes, “converting” women and men into their opposite sex behaviour.”
How exactly does estrogen enhancing chemicals act to create hormone imbalances?
How exactly does estrogen enhancing chemicals ” convert” women and men into their opposite sex behaviour?
Can you explain also how phenols are acidic?
Just Saying Canmibis oil or any ingredient derived from Marijuana Does not cure cancer
In my humble opinion this. widely repeated information that Marijuana cures Cancer is not based on scientific research
But now widely used to generate gainful profits for a cannibis market
I have seen the daily use of cannibis or medical marijuana by a very close friend and its effects none of which has helped or cure cancer
As a matter of fact the monies being spent by this ndividual is more of a revolving cycle to scam unsuspecting and gullible into a false sense to belive there is a cure based on repeated treatment from many forms of cannabis
It seems more of a trial or error approaach where this individual seeking for help turns to the medical marijuana industry seeking a cure who repeatedly states that if one form of cannibis treatment does not work try another
A spinning wheel circle of deception is what it all adds up (to)
Your friend is an idiot.
Why am I not surprised.
Marijuana/cannabis does NOT cure cancer, and no scientist/doctor has ever said that it does. Marijuana may ease the nausea some cancer patients feel while undergoing conventional cancer treatments.
Let me repeat.
Marijuana.cannabis does NOT cure cancer.
Your friend should go to a doctor and take the treatment prescribed.
Plenty of excellent doctors in Barbados. Plenty of excellent tax funded polyclinics, and the Queen Elizabeth hospital.
Simple Simon…BTW who are you to call a person seeking alternative treatments an idiot
What do u know about any individual ( this induvidual ) medical situation that might forced them in another direction to seek alternative treatment
You are one rude bold faced insensitive MUdF
I put the information to stop people from drawing or looking for hope from a false belive that Marijuane cures Cancer
A belief mostly sponsored and spouted by marijuana users and those who have interest in the Cannibis medical industry
A look on Google and one would indeed find such information being spouted across the world wide web
Yes their are people looking for hope who would turn to alternative remedy or methods physical or spiritual
That does not make them idiots
To those who have the intellect
and faith.
The body has been designed to heal itself.
Your consciousness has the ability to communicate with your cells.
Your cells also communicate with STEM CELLS that responds to conscious instruction.
At the point just prior to cell division (emittance of light) asks of the STEM CELLS … same or different.
If by CONSCIOUS THOUGHT, and pure intent, an intelligent instruction is given to the STEM CELLS to divide differently without disease, the quantumness of the stem cells seek “recorded data” and responds to the query giving new instruction for cell division that results in what is known as SPONTANEOUS REMISSION.
This is the key to the adage..
” Physician heal thyself” and the techinque required.

i am still seeking clarification of your statements t January 20, 2019 11:00 PM
could you also expand on what you wrote at January 21, 2019 9:12 AM?
what are stem cells?
thanks
In the natural marijuana plant that is balanced in its biochemical makeup has or carries two potentials.
THC which gives the “high” promotes mind body communication, just enough to facilitate theta state interaction between the two… It enhances creative abilities as well. It (theta state) is otherwise achieved via deep meditation.
When channeled sequentially, restores those physical systems linking body to Spirit to an optimum state.
CBD on the other hand works to aid and support required biochemicals and biosystems of the physical body into balanced and optimum states or homeostasis of immune and central nervous systems via attachments to receptors in brain and cascading those impluses and biochemicals correcting imbalances
The issue is with over use or medical imbalance that will create side effects. Vincent and others have made the point, let the body of research guide decision making how its legalization should be rolled out.
“”American pot smokers prefer American domestically grown marijuana to Mexican grown marijuana.I doubt very much that any/many ”
https://www.scpr.org/news/2014/12/01/48399/legal-pot-in-the-us-may-be-undercutting-mexican-ma/
I doubt if any/many of these islands will achieve their grand dream of exporting marijuana to the USA. I suspect that as has already been seen in parts of Mexico, there will be a reverse of the marijuana drug flow.
Cocaine and heroine will still flow northwards, unless the gringos find a way to make a buck off those two items. However, we are far from the days of “medical cocaine”. That dog will not hunt.
What is the mortality rate for those rastas who smoke weed every day ?

can you also please kindly explain …..

Are these all of the Islamic faith???????
It should also be noted that the body naturally produces CANNABIDIOLS (CBD) through a system known as the ENDO-CANNABINOID SYSTEM. These biochemical compounds are Anandamide (produced during meditation) and 2AG. Both produced during lactation.
The ENDO-CANNABINOID SYSTEM is a network of cells with receptors for CBD.
Other systems with receptors are..
Central Nervous System
Lymph System
Immune System..(intestines,spleen and bladder)
Cardio Vascular system
Bone Marrow.
The body of information was to show that the bio-chemical (CBD) present in marijuana is naturally produced in the body for specific functions.
OVERUSE of marijuana In its natural form IS stemmed by a natural process in the synapses and receptors of the brain known as RETROGRADE NEUROTRANSMISSION.. that is unique to the Cannabis plant, eliminating any medical threat to the body via this safety mechanism.
Im surprised the Daily Mail would be used as a source of reliable information..If one searches FBI statistics on violent crimes in all States, for the period 2012 to 2017, Washington has shown much less of an increase than most other States that have not legalized marijuana. Also the number of violent crimes per 100000 persons is also less than most of the States where it is still illegal.
i offer this article for another perspective.

“What is the mortality rate for those rastas who smoke weed every day?”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The same as for those paunch-belly executives who smoke a pack or two of B&H or Marlboro a day.
Or even those middleclass housewives who drink more than 3 gin and tonics or rum & ‘coke’ a day out of sheer boredom while looking for some action in the bedroom.
Since in the eyes of the Bajan Jehovah there is no ‘little sin or Big Sin’ we ought to consider the need for a modern day “Temperance” movement to lobby Parliament to put an end to not only marijuana consumption through it becoming punishable by death but also to the ‘legalized’ habits of cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption.
So miller etc.
is it that you want to add more sickness, more disability, more premature death?
If so why??
Why is the common perception that legalising Cannabis will increase access to the drug, when in actual fact, particularly for the young/teenagers, legalising and regulating effectively the production and sale of cannabis would likely reduce their access to the drug.
Currently in an un-regulated market, there is no-one stopping your school-aged child from getting access to Cannabis – it has been shown that prohibition does not restrict supply, and in an unregulated market, do you think a dealer will care what the age of their customer is? If it is easier for a child to get hold of cannabis, than it is for them to get legal drugs such as alcohol or cigarettes, then what are they more likely to try/consume, when going through their personal development and rites of passage? This follows the same narrative as the miss-guided theory of Cannabis being a gateway drug. If you direct our youth, through the laws of the land, that they have to go to the black market to purchase their drug of choice, then they will through necessity use the black market/street dealer. Q.What is a dealer trying to do? A. Sell them drugs, as many as possible, to make that money, unregulated and tax free income. So what is the Dealer going to encourage the young customer to do, why try something else on his menu-card of products – “not got any weed at the moment, all out, why not try these [insert drug of choice], it’ll give you just as good a buzz”…
If the market for cannabis was regulated, then there’d be age restrictions on the purchasing of cannabis (similar to alcohol), only being available from licensed retailers, who would be paying taxes, and not trying to upsell a youthful purchaser to other more addictive and damaging narcotics. By starving the black market of a line of revenue, then this should in-turn reduce crime rates and gang violence, by bringing an un-regulated black market under the control of the Government, who could then regulate and police it more effectively.
@ Sir Simple Simon, P.C. January 22, 2019 1:31 AM
How could the lowly miller want to “add more sickness, more disability, more premature death” when he is calling for the legal banning of the production of consumption of alcohol and tobacco to put it on the same current footing or ground as marijuana?
Isn’t mary jane now under the ‘white’ commercial cloak of medical marijuana being promoted as the panacea replacement for the failing Pharma industry?
How come that the billions and billions of dollars spent on synthetic drugs have not contained the spread of the same ‘sickness, disability and premature death’ you now want to pin on poor mary jane created by your god in the sky with lowly Mary named Mother Nature His handmaiden?
Tell us something, Mock Doctor Sir Simon, Phd, when Mary jane does become a decriminalized prostitute entitled to peddle her high and healing wares as she sees fit would you grow some marijuana in your existing garden of good and evil as you do with your regularly BU advertised wide range of vegetables and healing herbs like thyme, marjoram and parsley or even horehound bush?
And if not, what makes you so superior as to think so arrogantly that the other ordinary Bajans who have nothing to do with the devil’s child called Mary Jane would automatically stop attending the Sunday church meetings and convert to the worship of smoking and using this demonized plant created by your god Yahweh?
@Kiki,
thanks for that video. Beautiful black bodies. Met another beautiful Sri Lankan at the supermarket today. lol.

The short answer “NO”
The long answer “NO”
@ Sir Simple Simon, P.C. January 23, 2019 4:41 PM
So why you think- with your supercilious attitude- that the average Bajan on the Silver Sands bus will run amok smoking marijuana once it is decriminalized?
Do they currently imbibe ‘spirits’ and smoke a pack of cigarettes before setting out to their Sunday church outings?
Despite the fact that rum is readily available (but for a price that includes a large slice of government imposed duties and taxes) do you see, frequently, the average Bajan pissing drunk alongside the road with a dog licking his mouth
Don’t you trust your Bajan people anymore? After all, it’s not food that is being served free of cost.
Nice article!
