Your message to the BLOGMASTER was sent

This space is to allow the BU community to share views about the two kickoff political meetings that were staged on the weekend.

The blogmaster was impressed by the entertainment content delivered by the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) on Saturday night. The parade of the experience and political intelligence the BLP leadership can access as demonstrated by the Henry Fordes, Cheltenhams, Millers, Tulls et al. Most interesting were the promises to increase non-contributory pensions and access to start up financing for the youth segment. The blogmaster looks forward to hear how this will be supported by the budget.

The blogmaster was equally impressed  by the entertainment delivered by the DLP through the antics of Blackett, Lashley and a couple others. The objective was to attack Mia Mottley in her role as leader under the theme that she feels entitled. Prime Minister Stuart clearly attempted to show that there is a philosophical difference between the two major parties by anchoring his address in what he considers to be Mottley’s sense of entitlement because of her blodline. The other noteworthy presentation was from Minister David Estwick who was scathing in his attack of Mia for showing her ignorance about the issues affecting the south coast sewage problem. He summed it up by asking her when she digs up the affected area on the South Coast where will the live sewage passing in the lines be deposited?

Yes Minister Stephen Lashley mentioned the Barbados Underground blog in his presentation by acknowledging that the 2013 – 2018 Report of the Public Accounts Committee can be found in this forum.

  1. Yes cat piss and pepper licks like peas for Mia and all she deservrs she cannot help being a meglomaniac despot
Good that Estwick call her out for her ignorant views on the sewer issue and her more insipid display of what can be described as her own political version of selling a pig in a bag.Happily gone are those days
Gone are the days when the blp had a philosphy driven by patriotism but now replaced by an urgent and disrespectful need to throw country and people under the bus with slogans and words to disparge and degrade
Mia bumper sticker mentality shows her lack of understanding the phiosphical measuring sticks of this nation that puts people first with an understanding that barbados ismore than an economy it is also a society that has its own culture and does not always have to live by the dictates of international standards with a goal and mission in mind to put people and country first
Also not beliving in the boogy man approach of having to do their will or die
PM Stuart was spot on in his description of Mottley and once again repeated the nagging perspective of her being a political animal through privilege and entitlement which has paved her way and her unquenchable thirst of wanting to be PM

Only emptyheaded yardfowls listened to that rubbish:

    the poop on the south coast is still flowing and stinking up the streets after 10 years of no maintenance by this ex-government;

someone drove by yesterday and said the stench is atrocious and getting worse,

    the roads on the island are still filled with potholes and are dangerous to life, limb and vehicles;

After being neglected for 10 years by this ex-government

    The stadium is condemned and dangerous to people who go there to watch young prople run etc;

After being neglected for 10 years by this ex-government

There are dilapidated buildings and rotting infrastures all over the island after being neglected by this ex-government for 10 years

    The bus service is deplorable, no new buses in 10 with neglect and corruption rife at transport board particularly with lashley at the helm, more neglect by this ex government ;

No new garbage trucks bought for 10 years, garbage piles thoughout the island, all neglected by this ex-government.

I can go on but it will take all day, so getting on a platform spewing rubbish last night did not change the neglect of the island and people by the ex-government or the 23 downgrades or the bribery and corruption or the upcoming misery to the people they will cause.

the ex ministers fooled no one but themselves, so those fraudulent self satisfied smirks did not convince the electorate either that Mia was prime minister for the last 10 years and destroyed the island.

Did I mention the wasting by the ex government of over 400 million dollars of taxpayers money and pensioners money in bribery scams with cow, bizzy, maloney,
bjerkham et al (billion dollar taxpayer funded contracts with million dollar kickbacks to ministers), that could have fixed all or most of the problems on the island if ministers had not put corruption and their own pockets before the needs of the people and country.

    Well there you have it.

Now yall got the nerve to be begging the same black population for votes, ya did not sleep last night and jumped up early to boast, well boast about this too, nuisance yardfowl.

  4. Desperation. It is clear the Dems are well aware that a redwashing is in the oft.

  5. @enuff

Desperation? Isn’t it the same strategy they used against Arthur last time? The question is whether Barbadians will vote buy it this time around with a crumbling infrastructure and stalled economy. As important is whether the public care enough to buy into the BLP’s manifesto promises when they are release. Will they be credible as far as if they can be implemented.

  6. George Payne say she is not worthy!Dale Marshall also says she is not worthy. The past leader OSA with whom Mia worked along side for 14 years says she is not worthy
Also another member of her cabinet Hnckson says Mia is not worthy and has tied her to nefarious dealings
Mia Agard a former member who was underminded and suddenly unceremoniously dismissed by the blp says she is not worthy and describes her as a demon dress in white
At last night unveiling of the “real” Mia Mottley the Honourable PM Stuart presented an article written in one of barbados leading newspaper in which Mia’s cousin states her worth is defined by privilege and entitlement because of her bloodlines
Not because of good character! Not because of hard work and her ability to produce her efforts from ground level but entitlements borne out of privilege only allowed to a few

    ####exhibit A LEC

  7. David
But isn’t the difference that unlike Mottley, Arthur was a PM for 14 years and seen as having had his time? Does Mottley have a broader mass appeal than Arthur? Aren’t we now talking about 10 years rather than 5? What about the state of the economy? Haven’t Bajans known who Mottley is for yeeears? What about Richard Sealy’s, (Stuart’s choice for Deputy PM) “privilege”?

  8. @enuff

It is the view of the blogmaster voters have already made up their minds, those who will go to the polls that is. The challenge will be for the BLP OR DLP to reassure in the days leading up to the next election. The national swing will also play a part, maybe third parties.

  9. It says a lot about the DLP that rather than review their ten years in government they prefer to campaign on character assassination.

Mia Mottley was cruelly exposed last night !

A despot was explained last evening at the Dems Assembly !

During the next 17 days she is going to be further publicly undressed & unmasked !

A fraud masquerading as an EMPRESS in white !

But is truly a DEMON – if Maria Agard is to be believed !

The Dems Peoples Army has reported for duty !!

  11. Nobody after given a birds eye view of Mia plans for the evonomy during the blp Weymouth party would buy into any thing written in her manifesto
She has already shot herself and the party in the mouth with her ridiculous unrealistic plan of fixing the nation problems
Instead of Mia ranting and raving about ringing thr bell she should have efficiently use all that time in preparation to lay out a plan which was feasible ! logical and realistic with an unquestionable thought as to how the country would pay
One can bet that on the following weeks ahead Mia is going to be backpedaling on the plan she forwarded to the people at Weymouth giving and inviting more speculation that her plans are worthless and she does not have a clue

wilderness time again for the blp

  12. David
Hence the desperation. Another Central Bank report just showed that the DLP’s economic management is failing, and they can’t defend it. The IMF report suppressed. Have you seen Dr.Estwick’s constituency newsletter? It talks about the country’s high debt levels, lack of spending etc, and makes clear that this election is not about mudslinging. I guess last night was a church service.🤣🤣

  13. Hal Austin
The dlp does not have to review their stewardship it is all on record.
The opposition had held the govt feet to the fire with scathing and u relentless crticisms
Now it is the govt turn to hold the opposition feet to the fire no holds barred
It is the opposition turn to tell the people how they can direct barbados into a better alternative
The govt has shown its hand for ten years and the people would decide

  14. The best advice the blogmaster can give to Mottley as a pundit is to share her plans for Barbados fueled by a vision. Her surrogates can do the dirty stuff which modern day banana republic politics demand.

    • Maria Agard : called her a DEMON in white !

    • Ronald Toppin : called her a CROOK !

    • George Payne : called her a big TIEF !

    • Kerrie Symonds: called her a WIFE STEALER !

    What does disingenuous mean?

  22. Dr Estwick’s behaviour last night was neither funny nor impressive. He came across as someone in need of psychiatric medication. I am astounded that he did not think the continual spillage of sewage on the south coast was a political matter!! What is a “political matter” if not one that threatens the health and economy of a country?

Chris Sinckler raised good queries about the cost of Mia Mottley’s promises. The increase of $37/week for non contributory pensions will be $12 million/ year expense (my calculation). Will it be paid for by increasing the contributions of employed persons?

Stephen Lashley and Michael Lashley were both boring and empty.

    Patrick Todd was entertaining.

  23. As to this entitlement or “bloodline” politics…what was the selection of Mara Thompson about? I’ll ask Leroy MacClean.

  24. Other than Sinckler’s presentation, last night’s presentations confirm that Ms Mottley is clearly seen as the PM in waiting. The Dems did her more a favour than a disservice.

  25. Rather than DEFEND their tenure in office during the past 10 years and 3 months in office……..and why they deserve another term…….

…………the DLP began their campaign by assassinating the characters of not only Mia Mottley, but also Adrian Donovan, David Ellis, Corey Layne, Dennis Johnson, Peter Wickham and Sanka Price.

And after all the hype leading up to their “prosecuting” and “unmasking” Mottley, the DEMS came with the same OLD NEWS…….

……….such as her being “privileged” and living in Sandy Lane, the LEC, Crab Hill Police Station, St. Leonard’s School, snide references to her sexual orientation, “biting,” “despot” and “demon”…….without presenting any NEW, compelling evidence.

Additionally, recall almost 3 years ago, on June 18, 2015, Adriel Brathwaite promised to investigate claims that Mottley did not have the requisite qualifications to practice law in Barbados under the Legal Professions Act. Mottley being the main theme of the meeting, presented Brathwaite with the perfect opportunity to reveal the findings of that investigation. Unfortunately, he did not.

David Estwick has proven time and time again that he is more “froth than beer.” He should be ashamed to critique the economic policies of the other political parties, after he publicly admitted the policies of his party failed and is responsible for worsening the state of the economy, but endorsed them in parliament.

  26. Mottley knows she is lying and her promises are empty.
Mottley as a member of parliament has acess to all the economic reviews.
Over the years she has repeatedly sounded the bell and have elected herself to be the town crier ofdoom and gloom stating that barbados finances are in disarray.
Now Mia stands boldfaced and delivers the most outrageous lie presenting free give aways knowing full well the economic finances of the country is no position to handle
To make matters worse and to further expose her deceptiion when asked how she would pay .her answer falls into the category of nonsensical

  27. The BLP says they have costed their proposed fee waiver, pension increases etc. We await the numbers. However, after the last 10 years and repeated guffaws in Budget speeches, I don’t think Sinckler has any legitimacy to question anyone’s maths far less their economic policies. Dem failed!😂

  28. Too bad Artexers what goes around comes around

Hopefully she does not have amnesia or maybe she is in the early stages of Alzheimer disease because her promises are diametrically counterwise to fiscal plans where a country is having revenue shortfalls

@Mr Blogmaster re your assertion that “It is the view of the blogmaster voters have already made up their minds, those who will go to the polls that is” then who is all this razmatazz to impress or sway!

We can agree that there are entrenched voters whose decisions are well set but surely that swing and third parties of which you speak are a serious enough concern to merit attention…grand spectacle, the door to door canvassing and all the empty manifesto promises.

Incidentally is there a political campaign anywhere in the world that does not evidence ‘banana republic’ behaviours…certainly none that were hosted in last several cycles: There was character assassination in UK with Thatcher and her racist proclivities and that just simply exploded with the accusations of liar and cheat hurled at Blair and down the line….so amusing to read the Brit scribe call out that perennial aspect of politicking in this current silly season redux!

But anyhow DLPite Thompson had his ‘entitlement’ fulfilled so considering that MAM has retained her post of first among equals despite the greivous fights with formidble members of her party there is no reason to foresee why these stupid ad hominem attacks will succeed.

….and before any lotta long talk from hacks re the refrence of ‘Thompson and entitlement’, let me be clear: he was presented to the Bajan public as a 17 year old when he bested an experienced attorney and because of his boldly stated desire to be PM since those days there was thus always a palpable sense that he was ‘entitled to reach that pinnacle…

… he did what he had to do academically and otherwise to get there….Love her or hate her so too has Ms Mia Mottley done the same!

Dear Missy the Stinking Maripussy aka the “ac” accredited cretin or the angel of demons the asinine skeete:

Please be advised that the promises made by Mia to buy garbage trucks and clean up Barbados will be funded from the NSRL collected from the people since September 2016.

If you want to hear a bigger lie then read and weep what your Stinkliar told the people of Barbados in 2016:

“In total, it is estimated that the new National Social Responsibility Levy will realise additional annual revenues of $142.1 million, which when prorated from September 01, 2016, yields $82.9 million this financial year.

Mr. Speaker, it is the intention of the Government to place the resources garnered from this levy directly towards the financing of critical aspects of public health care in Barbados, particularly, but not limited to, provisioning at our main general hospital, the QEH.

It is also our intention that part of the proceeds of this levy will go towards servicing of the loan which the Government of Barbados has agreed to borrow to provide the Sanitation Services Authority (SSA) with a fleet of new trucks in the coming months, and to procure much needed parts for the existing fleet.

It is our intention to have that fleet back up to above 35 active trucks on any
given day by this time next year.

Public Sanitation and environmental health are also critical parts of the public
System and Government has heard the lamentations of Barbadians over the current state of affairs as it relates to both. While it is easy to vent our frustrations on the men and women of the SSA, the Ministry responsible for the Environment and even the Environmental Health Division of the Ministry of Health have really been trying their best in the most challenging of circumstances. But I am here to tell them, as I will tell all Barbadians that help is on the way.”

Ya hear lie, now that is Lie!

We watched the DLP last evening. Minister of Agriculture/water, whatever, said that the issue is not one of maintenance but degradation caused by tidal action, meaning that sea water is entering under the coastline and damaging the concrete foundations generally. Including the footings supporting the sewerage lines, causing then to fail.

He contends that the damaged is located up to 15 feet below the surface.

That counter narrative seems not without merit. What is the rejoinder?

It is a reasonable question by Estwick although it does not explain why the prime minister ignored the warning from the PM almost two years ago that the plant was failing.
