  1. Put a Judas in control when you know his allegiances, sooner or later the bait will be taken.
A general never discloses his strategy to the enemy.
Chemical attack not Russian, Syrian, not USA ..Who wants war? Who benefits? Who want Assad? Who wants caliphate expansion?
BTW, some non military are wearing monitoring boots and under house arrest.

Mr Blogmaster, are you really bidding on that ‘fire’ brige fah real.

Can u not see the Republican party lose the elections very badly if that happens.

And before that can u not see them being FORCED to appoint another independent counsel under a more formal guidance.

Trump make a terrible mistake firing Comey … to fire Mueller would be insane… he would win a very short battle and be horribly defeated at the end of the warrior.

One may argue he will lose the war regardless so why not fire Mueller but that’s poor strategy because from that moment on EVERYTHING would be about his perceived corruption and he would be unable to govern.

Xi and Putin would circle for the kill.

    Trump can’t be dat stupid!

David; Trump is a haff uh idiet so I’m not so sure he wouldn’t fire Mueller, but the longer he takes to do it the more unlikely it becomes.

Firing Mueller would play into Putin’s hands and maximise USA’s chaos. I have’nt seen the experts prognostications on what Trump’s explicit denounciation of Putin re. the Syrian gassing might mean but it is a clear signpost of Trump’s dangerously evolving state of mind at this time. Taken along with the clear messages from Mueller and Rosenberg re. the Michael Cohen gambit, we are into the possibly most dangerous times of the last 50 or so years from what could be bigly unbalanced actions by Trump that could exponentially increase the chaos.

Trump’s National Security Adviser just resigned . Wunnah wonder what might have precipitated that? The war cabinet was photographed together yesterday. Trump is missing the meeting of the Summit of the Americas later this week (but we have’nt heard so far if Freundal is still attending). Mad Dog Mattis has postponed his confirmed engagements for this week. Could it be any clearer that the tea leaves are aligning themselves towards action in Syria that could escalate significantly especially as Putin is jamming USA drones over there and showing off new Nuclear weapons? Could Trump have already outlived his usefulness to Putin? Is a correction being planned? Has Putin the fox made a calculation that now might be the time to strike in a way that would softly proclaim his victory in the USA election gambit.

A gigantic chess game is afoot and an unbalanced, neophyte who thinks he knows more than all of his advisers is in charge of the World’s largest and most potent arsenal while his main adversary and keeper of secrets is showing off his nuclear and other toys of war.

Now is the time for something to go wrong!

    Be very afraid.

Oh no, not the Republican ideals.

He is committed to his ideals (popularity and ego)…which is fueled by the carefully polled data high points from his base … he champions those passionately.

I agree with u that he doesn’t play by the rule book. Surely also his desire to be the ‘best’ will lead him to impractical decisions linked to the whims of that base.

However he knows he will crash and burn if he does the most stupid things.

As reckless as he can be I really don’t expect him to be so stupid, again.

But of course I would love him to fire Mueller…what a ride dat would be…painful tho!

“He starts a conflict in Syria and he tangles with Putin’s Russia”

What the phuck does that even mean?

  11. David April 10, 2018 6:26 AM

    “Trump will fire Mueller, soon.”

    David BU

According to former acting US solicitor general, Neal Katyal, “the special counsel regulation under which Robert S. Mueller III was appointed gives the attorney general or acting attorney general sole authority to fire Mueller and only for “good cause,” such as misconduct, violation of departmental policies, dereliction of duty, incapacity or conflict of interest.”

    https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CFR-2001-title28-vol2/pdf/CFR-2001-title28-vol2-part600.pdf

Katyal said “the rules provide only so much protection: Congress, Trump and the Justice Department still have the power to stymie (or even terminate) Mueller’s inquiry.”

Trump could direct Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to fire Mueller (power afforded to him by Article II of the US constitution)……..or he “could order the special-counsel regulations repealed and then fire Mueller himself.”

But Rosenstein told Congress he has CONFIDENCE in Mueller……..and Trump is still angry at AG Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from involvement in the investigation.

Knowing how Trump likes to surround himself with people who jump at his bidding, perhaps he may fire Rosenstein and replace him with someone who is willing to end Mueller’s investigation.

If that occurs, the USA may have a scenario similar to what transpired in 1973 with then President Richard Nixon. Recall the Justice Department appointed special prosecutor Archibald Cox (not to be confused with Eric Lewis of MADD fame…..hahahaha) to investigate the Watergate scandal and crimes allegedly committed by Nixon’s high ranking aids. Cox was similarly aggressive with the investigation as Mueller is currently with the alleged Russian meddling.

Nixon ordered then AG Elliot Richardson to fire Cox…….he refused and resigned. Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus was subsequently elevated to the post of AG, but he refused to fire Cox and resigned as well. But Solicitor General Robert Bork obeyed Nixon’s instruction to terminate Cox’s services…….and abolished the office of the Special Prosecutor in the process.

What would be the “back-lash” for Trump if he orders the firing of Mueller? Would he suffer a fate similar to Nixon’s if he decides to fire Mueller?

According to professor of constitutional law at Fordham University Law School, Jed Shugerman, Mueller could seek a temporary restraining order blocking his removal on the grounds that there was not “good cause.”

  12. @ Are-we-there-yet ..April 10, 2018 1:26 PM

…”Could it be any clearer that the tea leaves are aligning themselves towards action in Syria that could escalate significantly especially as Putin is jamming USA drones over there….”

Mere speculation to accost Putin, re: “jamming USA drones” and committing the chemical attack.
Suffice to say that remote control mechanisms are now part of modern aviation, who is to say that jamming mechanisms are not also part of that “protocol” and who has that option to use such technology when necessary?

It is also mere speculation to conclusively make a determination without an investigation, certainly any event has a signature and a trail to follow. The US Ambassador is way too hasty in pointing fingers at Russia while seeking support and accomplices to support any intent to act.
Could there be a hidden Judas within that has been bought to promote a war agenda? Who would want this and benefit from it?

It is beyond logic that the Security Council failed to act to defend those who were slaughtered in the Gaza Strip and elsewhere on the African Continent and other Territories at the hands of tyranny but would entertain a set of war hungry misfits. Tony Blight of the air is quick to say the UK should support the US in any action against Syria, mind you, is not Britain a part in the efforts in Syria? If so what is that all about? Syria’s sovereignty, Isis or another covert op out of chaos?

  13. The Zionists would love to annex Syria and a weakened Assad has eluded their dream going on 7 years.Putin’s strategic military base has made the US think twice once again. The Zionists are falling into a trap and the Orange turd has brought in John Bolt to take the rap if the trap is sprung.Putin has the support of Assad and that of Turkey and Iran. The UN might just help to save a catastrophe on this occasion.

Of course there is still leeway for Russia to move from the brink but I fear that Trump can only do so with a lot of egg on his face. He’s already lost that war of words unless he and Bolton are willing to test the Putin resolve by actually firing missiles into Syria. @Are-We, definitely attempted to do some farming and related seed husbandry in Grenadian soil..does dat count!

But seriously tho let’s work your analysis a bit.

Consider that this may not be checkmate in the least…if we accept the view that Trump is in some way compromised by his Russian peeps then the master tactician Putin would simply allow this to play out smoothly: US shows resolve of words with missiles; Putin in turn smacks hard the US rebel allies in Syria and (attempts to) shoot down any US planes used or in turn sends ”defensive armaments” against any ships or subs firing those missiles.

Then big pause …so both can pompasette how powerful and resolute they are…matter then goes to UN Security council where the leaders bombastically allow themselves to be ‘talked back’ from the supposed ‘brinkmanship of war’.

Like you I have no crystal ball so any scenario up to and including an actual fracas between these powerful nations is possible…but I suspect the lines of coms between Moscow and Washington are excceedingly hot right now to avoid just that.

Yes Mr Blogmaster political fallout indeed.

I am sure you heard the rumblings and saw the confirmation today that the US Speaker will NOT run for reelection. Even if we accept that he has reasonably reached the ‘spend time with his family’ position one cannot miss the other fact that Trump is roiling US politics is a massive way: Ryan is one of a record group of Repubs who are LEAVING Congress.

In any political measure – good and bad- this is now Trump’s party…his legacy to his party.

If I had to use my non existent crystal ball I would say the Republican party will be smashed in November and those who do win will be some of the most rabid Trump like acolytes possible…thus rabid Dem liberals hell bent on impeachment – if the Pres survives that far- and equally rabid Repub conservatives. In short, a continued recipe for ineffective governance.

  22. The views of former U.K. Ambassador Craig Murray on the true nature and intent of the US and U.K. Governments and their policies of lies and deceit.

  23. Paul Ryan announced that he is quitting as Speaker today, Ryan would rather quit than fight Trump who is not his kind of Republican. The usual excuse “family reasons” was trotted out as his reason for exiting Congress but Ryan doesn’t want to be tainted by association by the disaster that is Trump and thinks that by quitting now he avoids long term damage to his political ambition because as sure as “God made little green apples” Paul Ryan has plans to run for the Presidency in 24 or even 20 if Congress has the cojones to impeach Trump.

BTW in the tweet “Get ready Russia they will be coming…”” if you replace Russia and insert America Trump is a carbon copy of “Rocketman” he loves to ridicule.

Two megalomaniacs with fingers on the nuclear button, don’t buy any green bananas.

  24. Maybe Paul Ryan really wants to spend more time with his family. Families are wonderful are they not? What if Ryan knows that he is unlikely to overcome the heart disease that runs on his father’s side of the family. If my dad had died of heart disease at at 55, and if my granddad had died of heart disease at 58, and if my great granddad had died of heart disease at 59, and if I was 48 and had this bad history of early death from heart disease, and if I had 3 minor children, and if I was in a very stressful job, and if I had earned a good income all my working days, and if I had a excellent pension, and an excellent tax funded health plan for me and my children, and if I had a spouse who was an attorney.

I would quit too. Because genetics is a hell of a thing. All too often exercise, good eating habits, frequent exercise and access to excellent doctors, do not overcome a bad genetic heritage

No doubt being the President of the USA is sweet. But just being alive is so much sweeter.

  25. @Dee Word

Ryan was always harping about the commute because his family doesn’t live in Washington and he sleeps on a cot in the office blah blah blah. Maybe we are ascribing a meaning which is far from the truth? We will see.

  26. @David
You mean he couldn’t get one of those $50.00 a night rooms that are on the market in DC? He should have called Scott Pruitt.

  27. @ David,

Ryan has seized the opportunity to escape the mad house. He probably has a “consulting or teaching job lined up.

  28. @Sargeant

The bigger point he was making probably making centered around the fact his stay in Washington was always going to be temporary. Bear in mind he took the job under a little duress?

  29. @ Sargeant,

You voting on June 7th ?

  30. Speaker Tom Foley used to visit Barbados regularly during his incumbency and would be seen in the 70’s and 80’s on the busy roads of Barbados riding barebacked with his helmet ,no doubt feeling very much at home in his favorite Caribbean island.A shout of “Foley” would see him raise his hand in acknowledgement.

  31. @Hants

I always perform my civic duties but I will probably be voting in an advance poll so technically it won’t be on June 7th.
BTW there is a leaders debate sponsored by some Black organisations tonight but Doug F won’t be there, he claims that no politician has done as much for Black people as his brother Rob and by extension him. He also said that he entertains 60 black children at his cottage in Muskoka annually -so we should be grateful.

I won’t predict the outcome I was wrong on Trump and the PC’s always make mistakes but they have built a wall around Doug F this go-around.

He is an R, although if you would read today’s New York Times some of his own people seem to think that he is a RH. But officially he is a Congressman, and has been 54th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives since 2015. He represents Wisconsin’s 1st district.

    Always happy to help Hal.

Let’s be glad the blogmaster was more of a complete student than you were…or to put it colloquially: let’s be happy he can walk AND chew gum!

Politics wherever it unfolds in a strange or convoluted way is always a lesson for local consumption so stop pandering to the fringe BU element that can’t see past their nose!

@Mr Blogmaster, lets grant you all that but do you really want to convince yourself that a self assured, intelligent and photogenic politician who ‘allowed’ himself to be talked into running as VP of the US and then as Speaker, and before that to become a very young congressman who quickly rose to leadership roles of key committees is ONLY now having a discussion with his wife and kids about how much Daddy loves them!!!

Don’t get me wrong, family is crucial but so too is a position of US President or other leadership role to make a difference…good men with great wives manage that well…Ryan comes across as a ‘good’ man…so NO the family line is pure beautiful spin. An earlier blogger @Sargeant i believe it was, laid out a much more plausible scenario.

I would look at it through a David Thompson type lens…family first is integral but it (they) is also an elementally part of the narrative for him to get to the pinnacle of his ambition…whatever that may be.

The Speaker’s job is tough surely with lots of travel, tough negotiations, undesired compromises and so on but it’s also the third most important political job in the US…seems to me he is too young to walk away completely from that lure of power after enjoying such a career even if as an apparent reluctant champion along the way.

Nice Freudian slip – Divide for CIVICS-

According to SS Ryan is heading home because he has an “Appointment in Samarra”. Ryan is just trying to put as much distance between Trump and himself, remember Ryan Ryan was harshly critical of Trump after the Access Hollywood tape came out and perhaps he estimates that tax cuts and judicial appointments are not worth it if you sell your soul.

  44. Another former British ambassador (i.e. besides Craig Murray, the former ambassador to Uzebekistan) now steps forward in an attempt to bring some sanity to the question as to how to respond to the latest demands from politicans and media comentators to bomb Syria. This based on so far unproven allegations that Assad has once again used chemical weapons on his own people.

This time it is a former British ambassador to Syria, Peter Ford, who has to take a BBC interviewer by his hand to get it to sink in that Assad, not being a gullible idiot like many Western politicians, beyond all doubt would know that using chemical weapons is one sure way to draw the US and its NATO tag-along, junior partners into staging an attack against him (they have obviously been looking for any excuse to do so), and therefore he would likely have little motivation to use chemical wafare agents, especially at this stage of the game.

However, the ISIS head choppers who Assad now has on the run would greatly benefit from a US/NATO attack on Assad’s forces. From past example, they have clearly displayed their own barbaric attitude and lack of remorse when it comes to causing civilian casualties in their attempts to overthrow the secular Assad government and impose Islamic fundamentalist rule on the country. So, it is actually more reasonable to assume the chemical attack was a staged event (false-flag) by the jihadist rebels and their NATO military advisors to draw the West in to attack their mutual enemy Assad.

As the aggressive and bellicose rhetoric continues, more rational individuals are fortunately starting to speak out against such a barbaric “shoot first, ask questions later” mentality.

Peter Ford, ex-ambassador to Syria, is the latest to step up and call out the madness for what it is.

Peter Ford on BBC Radio Scotland (who obviously didn’t get the memo on keeping him out) outs the ‘monitors’ of the alleged attacks. The interviewer tried for about ten seconds to talk him down but Fmr. Ambassador Peter Ford plowed on and dropped several truth bombs. Fortunately it was live.

I like the scenario dpD painted earlier today as being a not entirely unbelievable possibility but I still have some concerns.

The sudden change in Trump’s attitude towards Putin and Russia in his Tweets needs to be explained. Why, after a year of absolutely obsequious fawning to Putin, does Trump make an apparent C change, albiet somewhat modified by a tweet that warns Putin that US missiles will be landing on Syria shortly, so be prepared. It doesn’t sound feasible.

Tonight Steve Bannon outlined a strategy that would see Trump practically admitting culpability re. collusion with Russia by claiming a way out executive privilege that would roll back any assertions made by White house staff against Donald Trump in their past interviews with Mueller and follow a strategy of future total non compliance with Mueller’s probe or Orders. All this after an imminent firing of Rosenstein and replacement of him with a pliant Trump Follower. This strategy, If Trump follows it, would certainly cause total chaos and turn the Justice system on its head at the very least.

It will be very interesting to see where this goes. It could arguably result in Trump having a greater hold on the country or could cause enough moderate Republicans to with hold their support from him. In any case greater chaos would ensue even to the extent of a unlikely civil war.

What happens over the few hours and days will have significant impact on what America (and the World) will become in the years to come.

    Just thinking aloud!

@Are-We, again excellent, crystal analysis….I have only one issue with it: too muted and essentially diplomatically stated.🤔

We have lambasted most tartly Fruendel Stuart for acting with similiar imperial, high handed indiffereance to law and order directly (immigration fingerprinting Bill etc) and indirectly via AG Brathwaite’s tepid responses to issues big and small so same for strong man Trump for significntly more outlandish behaviour.

We tend to look pass egregious behaviours in the US because we believe there is some well entrenched real concept of law and order but is there always…:

The US is NOT a banana republic by any means but Donald Trump gives the world the fear like he is operating a banana republic.

BTW, talking of Bajans and justice…what of the Bajan stockbroker who lived in US as citizen (since he was nine years old when his mother who had emigrated and brought him there as an infant became a US citizen thus automatically making him one also) was arrested after his return from Barbados – admittedly travelling on a Barbados passport and not a US one which strangely he did not have [it seems].

The simple fact is that the country we hold as a bastion of law and order arrested and detained for over two months a validly constitued US citizen denying him access to an attorney while ICE investigated past legal problems and his right to live in the US.

The further fact is that this has happened to more than 150 other US citizens who have had their rights trampled in similar questioning of their status…and the courts have NOT been granting any compensation it appears.

In short, there are many instances of US Banana Republic type malfeasance and this President can certainly take it to a completely unexpectedly frightening level…or is it that he already has!

  49. @David
False flags, staged provocations and similar forms of subterfuge by even our own supposed “good guys/white hats” to spark or agravate a conflict situation work so well to raise war fever in a populace naturally inclined to avoid war, that those who profit from war or the ramping up of tensions towards putting a country or alliance on a war footing are apparently quite reluctant to give up these instruments of psychological manipulation.

With the free speech currently still available (for now) on the internet to counteract the establishment/Deep State narrative or spin put forward by the presstitutes (as Paul Craig Roberts refers to them) of the mainstream media and the politicians in the Deep State’s pockets, it is now getting somewhat harder (but apparently not impossible) for the false flag conspirators to pull off their staged events than in days gone by.

Remember this faked incident used to galvanize US public opinion to support President George H. W. Bush’s war first Gulf War?
