It is somewhat amusing that the future of the country will be based on whether or not you believe Mia has an LEC.

In our little paradise, this is our most pressing issue. We thank God that the economy is booming, there is no corruption, and our future is secure

The Social Politics of Anticolonial Ideology

Western colonialism has engendered anticolonialism from the beginning of the age of European expansion. All empires…

โ€œAre you so foolish to believe that God reveals himself only to certain people and not to others, and that those certain people have to be Middle Eastern?โ€

Go unto the BU highways and byways to preach that kind of multi-cultural sermon to the likes of John, Georgie Porgie and the batty one called Zoe.

Despite your enlightenment of religion being just a man-made cultural construct โ€˜inventedโ€™ to figure out the world beyond his limited imagination, it still boggles the mind why you would have forsaken your West African ancestorsโ€™ belief system and, instead, religiously โ€˜apeโ€™ the Englishmanโ€™s โ€˜concocted-in-his-own-imageโ€™ version or brand of a Middle-Eastern cult by calling it Anglicanism instead of Roman Catholicism?

Come on now Simple Simon, donโ€™t be like the pie man and conveniently forget that you have on more than one occasion extolled the โ€˜moralโ€™ virtues of your regular attendance at your favourite house of spiritual guidance in exchange for a contribution to the churchโ€™s kitty with the black minister (your white godโ€™s representative on Earth) receiving his cut to suit his โ€˜higherโ€™ station in life.

You speak as if British colonialism was the worst cultural plague to affect black Bajans without realizing that with colonialism came more than religion in the form of Anglicanism (a denomination with more followers on the โ€˜Darkโ€™ African continent that can be counted even in England where it is an endangered species).

What about the other cultural and political institutions like your much admired Boys Scouts and Girl Guides started by both an Anglican fag and a dyke of a feminist?

What about the Westminster form of governance with its โ€˜independentโ€™ civil service which you slavishly try to imitate but with more success in the breach than in the adherence?

Why do you think black Bajans snobbishly consider themselves to be educationally and socially better off than their โ€˜poorerโ€™ cousins in the other โ€œlow islandsโ€( even those much bigger than their little 21×14 coral atoll in the engulfing Atlantic Ocean) if not only because of their proud and boastful 369 years (and going) sole heritage of British colonialism?

Come off it SS, with your badgering of colonialism you make it sound as if it was the only cause of the past social and economic misery black Bajans had to endure.

Please be fair in your โ€˜colouredโ€™ assessments of the past by putting things in their realistic contextual perspective.

Black Bajans had no worse of the harsh economic times and social deprivations than their counterparts in the other colonies; or even in comparison to their white counterparts as so vividly depicted by the many Dickensian-type characters.

That was โ€˜simplyโ€™ the state of play of the socio-economic game of those times.

Would it be fair to uncritically compare your childhood days of growing up stupid under the 1950โ€™s to early 1960โ€™s Union Jack with what the pampered Chefette potty-trained generation is acculturating today?

Should those disciplinarian days of โ€˜bridledโ€™ parental control be seen as child abuse in the eyes of todayโ€™s concept of parenting and child protection legislation as enforced by the various child care agencies?

Shouldnโ€™t those psychologically damaged children infected with the virus of colonialism (using your pathological interpretation) have been taken away from those brutally abusive parents and put in care of the nanny State or fostered to childless couples?

You need to get that colonial monkey off your back by looking at the achievements of blacks who were able to breakaway from the confines of colonialism by overcoming the colour bar and economic limitations of those colonial bad old days and to rise so โ€˜highโ€™ as to stand out as the liberating champions of the black masses.

Werenโ€™t the formerly enslaved blacks in the USA- the land of the free and brave- also in similar dire socio-economic straights even up to the 1960โ€™s as manifested in the well-known civil rights movement?

Werenโ€™t your national heroes and others like Rawle Parkinson and Louis Lynch who made the difference in the lives of the colonised masses all mo(u)lded in the same Petri dish made from 100% pewter colonialism with all its suppressing and controlling side effects?

Why not ask yourself the burningly searching question why those who have been liberated from the chains of colonialism through โ€˜freeโ€™ education and occupying the highest seats of black political power are trying their very best to put the same masses back into a state of abject economic dependency and social apartheid worse than what their black ancestors had to endure under the whipping boy called colonialism to feed your gargantuan figment for a sterile imagination?

Sorry to be so โ€˜copiouslyโ€™ longwinded in trying to put the other side of the โ€˜colonialismโ€™ picture so that the glass can also be seen as positively โ€˜half-fullโ€™ instead of in the light of your total negativity of โ€˜fullโ€™ emptiness; if you can figure out that quintessential โ€˜Englishโ€™ paradox of epigrammatic proportion.

No I never worked in any of those departments/statutory agencies forming the subject of the Auditor-Generalโ€™s report.

No. My position was not perfunctory. I could have solicited bribes. I chose NOT to.

Why don’t you ask me why?

  8. @millertheanunnaki November 4, 2017 at 1:00 AM โ€œWhere is My Cutโ€

If the business community said to Mr. Where is My Cut “there is NO cut for you” and if all of them they say this consistently, then Mr. Where is my cut would have to get lost. The business community is ALSO CULPABLE. The business community feeds off the political class and the political class feeds off the business community. And BOTH the business community and the political class feed off the tax payers.

And then we wring our collective hands and ask “how tings get so?”

We know very well how tings get so.

There are some people who are not offered bribes because nobody who knows them would dare to offer them a bribe.

And by the way nobody in the political class has ever offered me corned beef, rum, cash, a job, a tablet, a board appointment nor a contract. I don’t want anything from them. I don’t want anything from the business community either, except a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.

    For me that is enough.

  9. What is your point Simple Simon…?
You are obviously a freak. What the hell would you want a bribe to do anyway???
    …. pay the ZR fare?

The discussion is about NORMAL brass bowls … not about freak dinosaur relics from times past.

    Steupsss….
Can’t you see that practically EVERYONE ELSE lives mainly to see what bribes they can get …at whatever cost to their mendicant lack of ethics and moral conscience?
Stop talking about your damn self…..

Even many here on BU complaining about the damn politicians are doing the SAME shiite in their jobs, families, communities and even churches….. just with smaller amounts of money at stake.

That is how present generations now think, future generations will take it steps further.

“Our lands were invaded, our ancestors (some sold),millions killed, our lands raped by the same people that brought us these religions, while they hooked and raped and enslaved, they kept us busy in churches and mosques praying for miracles.”

  11. Is it my imagination or did OSA stated that “We” need a new brand of development
Question OSA after given the reigns of govt for fourteen years why did You not have a new vision for the country but instead continue the on the path of high borrowing and out of control spending which in effect is a cause vibrated by the negative effects on the economy
In any case the last word coming from your mouth towards a brand for “new development” for the country was Privatisation.
Is that the new brand of which OSA.speak

    Why?

    Now, let us guess!

Because you are an honest law-abiding hardworking person descended from good African Christian stock infused with the morals taught to you under the tutelage of your Sunday-School colonial-trained Anglican teacher called Miss Elizabeth Jones who used to teach you to sing:

    โ€˜All things bright and beautiful;
The (white) Lord make them so,
Even those with black skin and natty hair.

He even made the infidel fakir Devil too,
To tempt poor Christian Simple Simon,
So that Jesus can forgive her,
In case she falls from grace.โ€™

And that is why future colonialists and wannabe colonizers will be taken out and publicly executed in the future,….just look at the trend that has started….

…..all racists, white supremacists and neo nazis and all the scum of the earth that used those evil practices to survive for centuries at the expense of others are now being exposed, jailed for their crimes and a strong movement exists to chase these beasts out of the society far away from where real humans live.

That is just the beginning for these blights and stains on the earth and their minions.

  17. @Fractured BLP November 4, 2017 at 6:01 AM “Where is MAM going to get money ๐Ÿ’ฐ to fund near 20,000 UWI students annually?

Looka ya idiot. [Sorry David I know that I am not supposed to curse other bloggers]

Mia will not need to fund 20,000 UWI students annually, because 20,000 Bajans do NOT enter UWI each year. Barbados’ birth rate is only about 3470 per year, so by what magic can Fractured BLP turn those 3470 babies into 20,0o0 university students 18 years later? And even so, we know that not every baby born goes on to university 18 years later, not in Barbados, not in any country of the world. Again according to the 2010 census data, pages 122 to 128 available online here:

    http://www.barstats.gov.bb/files/documents/PHC_2010_Census_Volume_1.pdf

There were 973 nineteen year olds in tertiary education as of May 1, 2010, which means that a bit less than 30% of newborn Bajans go on to university 18 years later.

So in fact MAM will need to find money for about 1,000 new people per year, and not 20,000 And since UWI bachelor’s degree programs are 3 year programs the amount of money needed is enough to fund 3,000 people in any given year, that is 1,000 first years, 1,000 second years and 1,000 third years, and again she has the option of funding only those who can’t afford to pay, yes the dreaded means testing may be necessary, and making those who play the ass and fail, making them pay for any and all repeats, and yes and yes maing UWI squeeze the balls of its alumni, such as your financial balls, and the large financial balls of the political class and the business class to raise money to fund the very necessary education of our collective children and grandchildren.

So stop trying to fool the public.

The BU blog a’int a branch meeting.

    Simple Simon, completely, completely non-political.

  18. @Enuff November 4, 2017 at 7:50 AM “didnโ€™t Freundel Jerome Stuart pre-2013 election tell a graduating class at BCC that the introduction if tuition fees at UWI would be retrograde?”

And I agree completely. It was a completely retrograde step.

And no I do not have a child nor grandchild nor niece or nephew, nor grandchild, at UWI at present, nor am I a UWI alumni, so no I don’t have any personal axe to grind

But it was a retrograde step.

  19. Frankly this LEC issue is a Load of Crap (LOC), if this is the only arrow that the Dems have in their quiver it is a sorry situation but they sense it is a barb in the Achilles heel of the BLP and given the response of the BLP foot soldiers they may have a point.

What should resonate with interested citizens is the BLP promise to roll back fees for UWI students which in the language of politicians is โ€œmore comfort for foolsโ€, the DLPโ€™s decision regarding UWI fees is to placate the IMF vultures circling and while a reversal will bring temporary relief to some it will not be in the BLPโ€™s interest to provide more grease to the slippery downgrade slope at the onset of a new Govโ€™t.

The LEC issue exposes many learnings and will continue to so.

    1. The political class has a patent on the national narrative. It matters not how educated we are as a people, we can be easily distracted from the priority issues. Take BU forum for example, how many feel compel to comment on the issues which deal with education?
    2. If a doctor was practicing without a license required by law or was suspected of having questionable qualifications, who would we expect to intervene?

We are indeed a bunch a rasholes.

  23. @millertheanunnaki November 4, 2017 at 8:36 AM “Go unto the BU highways and byways to preach that kind of multi-cultural sermon to the likes of John, Georgie Porgie and the batty one called Zoe.”

Ah don’t read Zoe. Zoe is boring. I can never get past the first paragraph.

I always read Georgie Porgie, because he knows a thing or two, or more about medicine, he is sometimes very funny, and he knows his cricket, so he gets a pass from me, but i don’t share his religious or homophobic beliefs.

I read John sometimes. John is deluded but sincere. And “no” I don’t share his his beliefs about Barbados’ wonderful loving Quaker past.

And by the way why won’t God be multicultural? For the believers there is only one creator God. So why would this God have inside children all born in the Middle East, and outside children all born elsewhere?

For that deceit by the fumbling joker general elections should have been demanded as would be in any jurisdiction where the Westminster model of governance is the primus inter pares and not a plaything of an โ€˜apingโ€™ black primate.

The only 20,000 people the Fractured BLP, aka the sartorial clown Steve B, could be referring to is the minimum number of additional voters who would be voting against the DLP in the coming weeks or months.

Lol….Crusoe….that is like one lawyer saying this week, I dont believe a lawyer would like to a judge about the whereabouts of a witness……but then, when the matter was investigated, the lawyer not only lied to the judge about the whereabouts of the witness, but lied to the same lawyer and the whole court room as well….and lied on his own witness also…..just to prolong the case…..

Broken record, since you are so stuck in the LEC reverse gear, can you inform the BU household what is the next deadline for all ‘practicing’ attorneys-at-law to renew their licences?

It would be most informative if you let us know since it would be absolutely crucial in guessing the date range for the next general elections.

We would hate to think that both the learned Fumble and Braffit the wit, both fellow QC’s, would turn a blind eye to the secret renewal of MAM’s licence to practise law illegally in Bim, again.

But heck, what’s a purposeful oversight when compared to actually seeing vote buying and doing diddly-squat about it despite the Constitutionally-based solemn pledge to get to the bottom of those cases of known electoral frigginยด in the rigginยด in the sinking ship of dlp governanace.

BTW, Steve B, why not change the โ€˜LEC to stand for โ€˜Licence to Eat Catโ€™ aka C**t?

That should resonate more with the dangerous lying party of โ€˜gutter-snipers and sewer ratsโ€™ basking in the putrid cesspool of gossip on George Street.

Glad you finally admit it. When are elections??

  47. If this LEC issue concerning Mia is true then I must ask :

Why has it taken all these years for it to be raised?

if true justify appointing judges like Randal Worrell and others?

wouldn’t all the people sent to prison by Worrell et al then have to be released as the judges judgements would be null and void?

does Stuart & Gollop have their LEC in place, just wondering……………

A Simple Response “The lady was called to the bar under the old rules long before the LEC was a requirement.

@Tudor November 7, 2017 at 8:32 PM Why has it taken all these years for it to be raised?”

A Simple Response: Maybe those who raised it genuinely didn’t know about the old rules and the new rules. Another possibility is perhaps political mischief.
