How many deaths of blacks in Chicago the past year is the result of the Confederate flag? How many black babies who were murdered by their mothers before they were born were killed because of the Confederate flag? How many blacks trafficking drugs on the corners in every city in America are doing so because of the Confederate flag?

What these people either do not know, fail to realize, or simply ignore is that the Civil War was not fought over slavery. It was fought over statesโ€™ rights, which is a debate we should be having today, seeing how the federal government is usurping the rights of the states on every quantifiable level. The issue of slavery as such was tangential to the Civil War, not the causal effect.

While I have written extensively regarding the factuality of slavery, I direct those who value truth and facts โ€“ as opposed to the โ€œKunta Kinteโ€ fiction โ€“ to Robert M. Grooms.

Hants point was simply if it wasn’t a majority of white people dying from the overdoses (at least as portrayed on TV), the Mayor may not be that quick to seek a solution. With this specific Mayor he might be wrong, but in general in the past, he is correct.

I don’t “hang out” but have a family member with a chronic illness whose surgeon is at St.Mike’s, hence I find my ass there more often than I might care to, and for longer periods of time. The incidence of native persons entering daily with various drug issues is unimaginable until you see it. And this has been going on for years. You see the Mayor calling for a solution?

    Hence Hants comment…white lives matter.

  9. 10 supposed facts about Arab enslavement of Africans

I was looking for evidence of slave resistance against Arab owners and came across these “10 facts”.

I also came across the Zanj rebellion.

Did you know that one of the largest documented slave revolts/rebellions/uprisings took place in Iraq?

Makes the Right Excellent General Bussa appear pathetic.

The basis of the Trans Saharan Trade was salt from Iraq, slaves and gold from Mali and other West African “Empires”.

    Barter.

The rebellion was in the Salt Marshes of Iraq and lasted 15 years, 869 to 883, pretty early in the life of Islam.

Whatever methods were used in its final suppression, slavery remained the province of Arabs and Africans for the next millennia.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zanj_Rebellion

Europeans became involved as an offshoot of the existing trade in the 1400’s, more than 600 years later.

They came to Africa and found a thriving trade in human beings.

What these records show is that the modern slave trade flourished in the early middle ages, as early as 869, especially between Muslim traders and western African kingdoms. For moralists, the most important aspect of that trade should be that Muslims were selling goods to the African kingdoms and the African kingdoms were paying with their own people. In most instances, no violence was necessary to obtain those slaves. Contrary to legends and novels and Hollywood movies, the white traders did not need to savagely kill entire tribes in order to exact their tribute in slaves. All they needed to do is bring goods that appealed to the kings of those tribes. The kings would gladly sell their own subjects. (Of course, this neither condones the white traders who bought the slaves nor deny that many white traders still committed atrocities to maximize their business).

This explains why slavery became “black”. Ancient slavery, e.g. under the Roman empire, would not discriminate: slaves were both white and black (so were Emperors and Popes). In the middle ages, all European countries outlawed slavery (of course, hypocritical Christian nations retained countless “civilized” ways to enslave their citizens, but that’s another story), whereas the African kingdoms happily continued in their trade. Therefore, only colored people could be slaves, and that is how the stereotype for African-American slavery was born. It was not based on an ancestral hatred of blacks by whites, but simply on the fact that blacks were the only ones selling slaves, and they were selling people of their own race. (To be precise, Christians were also selling Muslim slaves captured in war, and Muslims were selling Christian slaves captured in war, but neither the Christians of Europe nor the Muslims of Africa and the Middle East were selling their own people).

    โ€œMy position is simple โ€ฆ..
Why waste time wallowing in the miseries of the past.
Defeat that tendency by looking at the miracle that wrought the change.
Barbados at the moment is filled with hopeless malcontents going nowhere when it was once a land of plenty, full of hope and contentment!!โ€

The weakness undermining the argument you are prosecuting muscularly and the position of โ€œforgive and forget the past wickedness and abusive exploitation of Africans in the Americas and the Caribbeanโ€ is that even after such unforgivable ungodly Christian acts your kith and kin of the European branch on the human family tree still went ahead and did even more heinously murderous acts against other members of same global family tree.

We shall not use the indigenous tribes of the NW plains of the land of the bison now called grand ole USA but take you farther โ€˜a fieldโ€™ down under to the lands (terra) of the Southern Star.

Did you Quaker society of friends climb aboard prison ships bound to the untamed southern territories now called Australia and New Zealand to bring your quack Quaker philosophy of brotherly love to the uncivilized dark skin natives with your book containing the loving and caring words of a โ€˜pallid-skin Jesus in one hand and a shotgun of economic hijacking in the other to relieve them (in the most persuasively friendly way) of their land and resources buried therein?

Donโ€™t these ambushed inferior Mungo-descended bushwhackers also have a right to be โ€œhopeless malcontents going nowhere when it was once a land of plenty, full of hope and contentment” (even if seen upside down under)?

What a load of hopeless malcontents hooked on โ€˜indigenous outback whisky instead of Bajan rum and Vincy mary jane!!

  16. Vincent

It is strange how you seem to dismiss the existence of every black African descendent of slaves across the Caribbean, UK, USA as just stuff that happened

The scale of Atlantic Slave Trade in terms of western wealth and wickedness was unprecedented and the state of world affairs and its world problems all stem from Colonialism, Racism, Slavery, Imperialism, Theft and Divide and Rule. Third World Inequality and Poverty was direct design of Colonialists.

Africa is a continent and muslims make up 22% and blacks make up 20% of world population.

To blame Africans and Muslims for the cruelty and injustice whites inflicted is just more white racism for the divide and rule conquerers who forced tribes to give up other tribes as slaves or become slaves themselves or killed instead.

If Uk wishes to pursue the argument that they were copying others as a justification to their slavery, then they are proving that they still condone their racist behaviour and crimes of slavery, and they are still racist.

An argument that others did same crime is not an excuse for crimes committed anyhow.

If they wish to go down that route they will not be trading partners with anyone except racist white English speaking colonies like USA AU NZ.

  30. Vinni,
This is where the focus should be on developing independence. Marcus Garvey was right on this. Many complain regarding financing/ banking discrimination. Therefore, richer Afros should see that as an opportunity to fill that need and make very good returns, everyone could win. This is exactly what the Italians did with B of America and the Chinese/ Japs/ Koreans had their systems.
How many AfroAms have conducted detailed research, for example, on the success of Mr Johnson of BET fame?

Vinni, please post this in the Entrepreneur Corner, click on this in the header above, U will see that I have made many posts there trusting that those who are serious will find something of use.

No John it will count. Not as an “oreo” but as a genuine chocolate bar of a politican deserving of leading a country which really belongs to his aboriginal people and not the descendants of criminal Brits and other starving disease-ridden Europeans; Quakers or no Quakers among the pack of thieves.

What you need to do, Dear John, is to look into the mirror of your soul and ask yourself how you can be so split in your Janus-like twisted personality.

On one side of the spiritual Jekyll and Hyde fence stands an ideal man of confessional Quaker persuasion extolling the universal brotherhood of man (and woman).

However, on the other stands a character identical to Hyde who has no compunctions in publicly displaying his unwavering loyalty to a man called Trump who principles and policies are completely at odds to those of the same Society of Friends in Jesus all over the world.

Until you, Sir John, is able to explain this moral dichotomy of your โ€˜Quaker-inheritedโ€™ love of the immigrant, the poor and the social unwashed compared to your stentorian trumpeting admiration of a man who stands at the other end of the spectrum your credentials as a man of Jesus would forever be put under the BU microscope designed to ferret out and expose people stricken with the plague of hypocrisy and volte-face parasitic infestation.

Not sure which post you want transferred to the entrepreneur corner.

I am a firm believer that when the system gives you lemons…..make lemonade.

You will note from my recent posts the difference between the American and Caribbean persona. I found it interesting that with the advent of the American black power in the Caribbean during 60s,despite EWBs effort to prevent it,we Pelaus seem in the last 50 odd years not to have progressed in the manner of our forefathers. We seem to have lost the will to be the Maroons that we are capable of being and instead of charting our own course,we want to go begging for recompense that really belonged to our ancestors. We want to wear dead people shoes.

By now you would realise that I scroll past the trolls and and only respond to individuals making valuable contributions.

Our contributions will be of use to those with a brain who are able to see that the world is a complex place with a history covering many millenia and that 4000 years is but a blip.

  41. @ Vincent The Stuck Up Bitch

The excerpt represents the core issue or deciding factor on which you must meditate

10 Fixing eternal Law he, too, upholds it swift moves the might of Law and wins the booty. To Law belong the vast deep Earth and Heaven: Milch-kine supreme, to Law their milk they render.

11 Now, Indra! lauded,- glorified with praises, let power swell high like rivers to the singer. For thee a new hymn, Lord of Bays, is fashioned. May we, car-borne, through song be victors ever.

  42. This should be the focus

Itโ€™s been 4 years since I ever so proudly quit my day job in PR, posting a photo on Facebook of my first day of โ€˜freedomโ€™, sipping on a latte at my local cafe with laptop in tow posting โ€˜My new office!โ€™ for all to envyโ€ฆ
But then there I was three years later sitting on the edge of my bed quietly sobbing, head in hands, having barely been paid a salary since leaving my day job, and wondering what the hell was wrong with me that I couldnโ€™t seem to make this self employment thing work.
You see, the sexy โ€˜build a freedom businessโ€™ line that many in the online world have been selling has been omitting some fairly large truths.
Truths that I intend on shining a light on. Not โ€˜theโ€™ truth. But my truth and experience.
And as your fellow entrepreneur, I feel a sense of duty to protect you, to protect your passions, and to share my own personal life lessons.
My intention is to make sure you know that, despite what they tell you, despite what they market and sell you, despite what you might tell yourself even, you are already doing EVERYTHING possible to make this thing work.
There is no โ€˜missing keyโ€™ or business building secret you arenโ€™t in on.
I know who you are, courageous entrepreneur.
I see how hard you work.
I see how persistent you are.
    I see your endless determination.
I know you have grit, hope and positivity.
I know you are already doing scary things outside of your comfort zone.
I know you are showing up.
I know you are investing in yourself, your personal growth and learning new skills.
I know you are committed and brave beyond measure.
So donโ€™t listen to anyone who says you should give more, push harder, work longer, think more happy thoughts, visualize your future more, blah blah blah.
Itโ€™s all bullsh*t to make you buy their stuff, their โ€˜solutionsโ€™. Because they are suffering as much as you are.
You are ALREADY doing and being ENOUGH! More than enough.
I know this because I am just like you. And after almost four years of hustling like an absolute mofo, I was exhausted, burnt out and financially plateauing at best.
But the part that really kills meโ€ฆ
I started to think I was missing somethingโ€ฆ
That I just wasnโ€™t made of tough enough stuff or that perhaps I wasnโ€™t working hard enoughโ€ฆ(OMG seriously?!).
And maybe youโ€™ve had these thoughts tooโ€ฆ
You see, the problem with the world of entrepreneurship is the sales pitch that success can happen almost overnight.
    It doesnโ€™t.
I guess the sales pitch โ€˜Build your freedom business and break even in five years!โ€™ isnโ€™t really that sexyโ€ฆ
So, with that said, I want to share with you 6 things I wish I knew way back when I first decided to take the plunge into self-employment. Life lessons, if you will, from my entrepreneurial journey so far.
And if you take nothing else from this sharing, I hope that you will agree with me that you are already doing a freaking amazing job!
    1. Slow down to speed up
If I have one regret about my entrepreneurial journey, itโ€™s that I wish I had stayed in my day job until I had at least started to earn an income that could continue to cover our basic expenses.
From day one I hit the ground with the background pressure of โ€˜make some money and quick!โ€™ which was not at all helpful!
I also left a job that was actually pretty good with people I enjoyed working with and at which I could have easily stuck it out. In hindsight my actions were irresponsible and put my family (and business) under pressure that was ultimately not necessary.
I had an itch about living my passion and at a momentโ€™s notice decided to scratch it! I had bought into the overnight success myth.
My advice: If you can slow down and lengthen out the transition phase from your current job to the new venture (unless your current situation is completely untenable) then it not only helps you make course corrections with the space and perspective to do so, it also allows everyone else around you to adjustโ€Šโ€”โ€Šwhether thatโ€™s just to the idea of you building a business/leaving your day job or to change spending habits/cut expenses.
Slow down now to speed up your potential success later.
    2. Passion cannot exist inside of financial stress
When I quit my job with zero safety net and little clue of what this business venture would actually look like, it meant that we could no longer afford to rent our apartment and decided to move into my mother-in-lawโ€™s basement with our then 3 year old son. I vividly recall sitting in that basement in front of my computer, staring at the screen and feeling particularly exhausted.
I wasnโ€™t working out, meditating or taking many breaks in-between daycare pick ups because I felt I had no right to relax. After all I was the one who had put my family in this predicament in the first place and so my passion business became this thing that I had to defend and justifyโ€Šโ€”โ€Šmaking promises to my husband that any day now Iโ€™d be making money and our bank account would be thriving again.
My advice: If you are under financial pressure (and the pressure point will be different for everyone) then it gets pretty hard to enjoy your passion business, as it was for me at times. So whatโ€™s the point? If you are stressed โ€˜living your passionโ€™ you might as well be stressed back at your day job earning a salary. Protect your passion and creativity at all costs, even if it means you dabble on the side for the first few years. Donโ€™t let your passions be tainted or die because they canโ€™t carry the weight of the financial burden, hustle and expectations. What you have to offer the world is too precious.
    3. Build a safety net and then donโ€™t touch it!
I hear a lot of people talk about how they built up a safety net before taking the plunge, which is great in theory but then that safety net gets slowly eaten into as their income dives and they dip into that fund to cover expenses. Donโ€™t quit your job and then just watch your safety net dwindle away. The purpose of a safety net is that it remains in place, not that it slowly falls apart leaving you exposed.
My advice: As someone who never even had a safety net (I knowโ€ฆ), let alone protected it, I may not be one to talk, nonetheless, my advice is to build up a safety net of 6โ€“8 months of expenses and then start to dabble and experiment and see if anyone is actually prepared to pay you for what you are creating. If you start to think to yourself โ€˜Iโ€™m going to have to dip into my safety netโ€™ then consider that a red flag that you need to generate income some other way while you figure out this entrepreneurial thing.
    4. Itโ€™s ok for your passion to remain a side project
For the past four years I fell into the trap of very black and white thinking: either itโ€™s my passion OR a day job. But in reality it doesnโ€™t have to be that way. Itโ€™s very possible, and itโ€™s my recommendation, that your passion remains a side project (at least for the first 3โ€“5 years). I certainly got caught up in the whole โ€˜live off your passionโ€™ sexiness and read story after story of people who had โ€˜made itโ€™ and thought that it was only right that my passion also be my full-time gig.
But I have since come to realize that:
Itโ€™s ok for my passions to remain just that and that I personally experience the full joy of the things I love when financial pressure is absent
a 9โ€“5 day job is the best option for me personally to earn a competitive salary which in turn allows me to experience more joy partaking in my passionate work on the side (because the financial pressure is off)
a day job can actually be something that I enjoy and enables me to contribute to the world, just in a different format, and
I can actually earn more as a whole by working a 9โ€“5 while transitioning my passions into a sidehustle business thereby allowing me to enjoy what I love without the financial expectations and sales goals.
My advice: Give yourself permission to enjoy your passion project as a sidehustle for the first 3โ€“5 years, then reassess based on data and feedback you have gathered along the way to decide if the project has legs as a full-time business venture.
    5. You must be prepared to sell and hustle
If you do decide that you would like your passion business to earn income, the one thing I wish I had of known was that one of the top skills you must have or learn is sales.
I initially wanted to do all the comfortable stuff: build a website, write content, create social media accounts ect. But I slowly realized that none of that stuff was the 80/20 that would actually propel the business forward financially. I had to sell what we were offering (oh lord!).If you arenโ€™t prepared to have sales conversations, to market yourself, to have prospecting meetings etc, then what you are creating wonโ€™t be seen by those who might need it and ulimtately buy it.
Any by the way, no matter how financially successful your products or services become, there is no summit where you are suddenly exempt from selling or hustling. In fact, some of the most successful entrepreneurs are also some of the fiercest and highly converting sales people I know.
My advice: No matter how amazing your creation, be prepared for the fact that it wonโ€™t sell itself. Thatโ€™s your #1 job now and foreverโ€Šโ€”โ€Što sell.
    6. Dumb luck accounts for a much larger proportion of success than you probably realize
I seriously have no idea what the formula for success is in entrepreneurship and Iโ€™ve taken my fair share of courses! I have no idea how some people are able to sustain themselves financially off their passion business while others with equally as good businesses do not.
Iโ€™ve had opportunities and exposure many in my space dream of, like speaking in front of crowds of 1,000+ ideal potential clients and a regular writing spot on a popular personal development blog read by 250K+ subscribers.
And yet still I wasnโ€™t able to come even close to replacing my old salary of four years ago. There could be a multitude of reasons why, but it does leave me to believe that dumb luck must be a factor and perhaps accounts for more of the success than we realize.
There are countless entrepreneurs who have phenomenal ideas, solid foundations, intentions, and natural gifts but who never โ€˜make itโ€™ because they never experienced enough dumb luck along the way.
And dumb luck unfortunately canโ€™t be fabricated or strategized (lord knows Iโ€™ve tried!). You just have to be at the right place at the right timeโ€Šโ€”โ€Škind of like that beautiful girl that gets discovered in the mall and becomes a supermodel. Someone has to share your project to an influencer, or you get featured on a prominent platform with a ready-made audience, or perhaps you get invited to deliver a keynote speech or accepted to give a TED talk etc.
My advice: Cut yourself some slack and know that dumb luck may or may not intersect with this particular journey of yours. Let it go, keep showing up, and just enjoy the ride as best you can.
    Donโ€™t โ€˜Go hard or go homeโ€™; instead โ€˜Slow down and sustainโ€™
Despite all of the challenges we entrepreneurs face as we strive to do what we love and despite how exhausting it can be, itโ€™s clear to me that taking this path is simply the best kind of education anyone can ask for.
And not just that, entrepreneurship is the only way we are going to find solutions to some of the worldโ€™s biggest challenges right now.
We entrepreneurs cannot afford to become exhausted and burnt out.
You are too important. We are too important. Your ideas are too important.
Now more than ever the world needs your unique contribution, it needs your ideas, your alternate thinking and your ability to maintain the pace to bring that contribution, idea and thinking into reality.
I know who you are, courageous entrepreneur. You are doing an amazing job.

  43. As man John!!

When you are digging around in cemeteries and archives … do you ever come across any of those pictures that were used as postcards…. the ones showing the bodies of young black men tied to planks …and burned from the feet up – to die agonising deaths in front of cheering crowds of people – crowds looking surprisingly similar to you….?

Or postcards of lynchings? … that were exchanged to celebrate the murder of ‘uppity’ blacks (like Bushie) …who dared to talk back to wunna…. or to just look into the faces of your ‘Quaker’ types? …or at wunna women?

Bushie understands that even simple research into the photo albums of your parents may be quite revealing…

…or do you make a special effort to avoid such ‘biased’ evidence?

  44. From Creation I man gather

    Sufferation I man bear with

    Tribulation I man go through

and I want you know it’s very true

We were taken from this holy land

    and were brought in captivity

    and were treated

    with brutality

  45. A time will come when every fig tree
    Shall find it’s own vine
    That’s the only solution
    To end all these crimes

They took us away from Africa
    On a rocking ship
    They brought us to Jamaica
    on a heavy ginalship
    In the Valley of Jehosaphat

    So open the gate
    Let’s repatriate
    I pray

    So open the gate
    Before it’s too late
    I say

A time will come when every fig tree
    Shall find it’s own vine
    That’s the only solution
    To end all these crimes

    So bide up Rastaman
For the time is at hand
    So say bide up African
For the time is at hand

    A time will a come
They say a time will a come

  46. Bushie understands that even simple research into the photo albums of your parents may be quite revealingโ€ฆ
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My father grew up in New York, born in 1909 in Trinidad.

My mother grew up in Barbados, born 1922 in Barbados.

You really need to go back to school and get an education.

Slavery ended in 1834 in Barbados and 1865 in the US.

Neither my parents nor their parents were around at the time of slavery!!

You should look at the history of photography and realise the chances of seeing a photograph in a family album from that era is well nigh impossible.

Perhaps paintings of an artist’s impression, but definitely not real life still photos.

The earliest image of an ancestor I have seen was from the 1830’s, possibly before but of course, it wasn’t a photo!!

I have seen a couple of photo’s from the 1880’s I guess but could have been much later.

Most of the early ones I have seen are from the 1910’s/20’s.

By then if you go and check your text books you will see the Quakers had ended slavery, …. loooooong before!!

Go back to school or try actually thinking before you write!!

Rush Limbaugh’s interpretation is right, no need to question his claim of being right 99.8% of the time.

People have lost the ability to critically think but will speak with moral certitude and be totally wrong …. even though they make complete jackasses of themselves!!

If it were not so serious it would be funny!!

  47. John

    Lynchings continued after Slavery

Last recorded lynching was in 1981.

White People collected lynching postcards because they felt good about their sickness.

Reparations are for all damages to blacks in racist countries.

    btw
    re: rebuttals
rebutter is required to understand someones surrejoinder or rejoinder
even for white alt-right racist trump trolls
