What concerned me most during the run up to the election was the planned false reporting by the corporate media and some of the major internet sites. The election was always much closer than they were purposely misreporting, and only folks who had the opportunity to hear or read news from alternative sources that the election would be a dog fight and not a cake walk for Hillary – BU Commenter Bajan in NY

Against the the run of popular opinion Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States of America. What is bodes for the world time will tell. What is reaffirms to the BU household is that the voice of the people is the voice of God.

On behalf of Barbados Underground (for what it is worth) we congratulate Donald Trump and hope he will be able to advance the cause of mankind as President of the United States.

“State after state fell for Trump, who was ahead in both the popular and electoral votes early Wednesday. The Donald, as his first of three wives dubbed Trump, received nearly 54 million votes.”

I can’t reiterate this enough, if you have a 50% majority of racists and others voting for Trump, this will be the outcome.

Black men will have to be even more afraid of leaving their homes now, Trump and racists will see to that…. I hope Chad is well prepared..lol

These traits can be applied to Mrs Clinton as well and as here wikileaks tapes reveal she is a deceitful hypocrite as well – a kind of Jekyll and hide – saying what the public wants to hear but secretly holding different views; the views of she and Bill on Obamacare and the Iran deal are cases in point but leopards they say can’t hide their spots. At least the public knows what Mr Trump clown that we say he is stands for and they can prepare themselves for it but with the Clintons, one never knows and they are known to scratch like cats when cornered and throw everyone under the bus to save themselves. I again say to the Obamas who were forced through establishment politics to abandon principle and unashamedly support a candidate for whom they have little regard to watch themselves.

If Mr Trump has indeed won; he would have done so because people are getting more and more fed up with establishment politics perpetrated by professional politicians on both sides saying one thing and doing on another and living high on the hog and Mr Trump won because he galvanised a growing round the world mistrust of the establishment movement first started by Mr Obama until he was reigned in by the established order; then resuscitated by Mr Sanders until pressure from all sides forced him to capitulate like the doofus the Clinton camp in their wikileaks exposee says he is and then inadvertently by a Trump who in my view entered the fray not expecting to get so far but started to think of himself as a serious candidate when his anti-establishment rhetoric started to gain momentum. Mr Trump as president cannot be any worse than Mrs Clinton and all this scary talk about Mr Trump starting a nuclear war or banning immigrants is pure hogwash because the President alone does not hold the codes that are necessary to trigger nuclear activity and in the American system of governance unlike the Barbados congress is the piper who plays the tune. All the President has is the veto.

America will always be what it is a great society well versed in the art of wheeling and dealing ingrained from the origins of the wild west ideals and the devil taking the hindmost. The world will continue to depend on the crumbs which fall from the systems which drive the established American way of life aka Stock market- mafia- white collar crime-wheeling and dealing-

I just woke up to the news!

White bigotry throughout America, and especially in the FBI, led to this result. The clarion cry of “Make America White again” and the fear of increasing non-white insurgencies was the root cause.

Just emotional rethoric- informed research would show that other than promises and empty mouthings blacks have gained nothing from offering their vote on a platter and their overwhelming support for the Democrats over the years I even saw a clip of activist and staunch Democratic supporter Jesse Jackson fighting to constrain himself in having to make that admission on a tour of some inner cities. The Association for the Advancement of Coloured people in their report last year revealed that “Blacks have been worse off under Obama”

The average American sat around this country and watched his or her job get shipped off to China and India, as well as watched Corporate America bring East Indians to this country on six months to a year contract and paid them minimum wages with out any benefits whatsoever, because these crooks refused to pay the American worker a liviable wage. The average American sat in this country and watched these greed capitalist crooks benefited of this country financially, and then hide they money in offshore banks in the Caribbean to avoid paying federal tax. And this bullshit agreement called NAFTA, has undermined the industry in this country because take for example: a car shipped from Japan partly assembled stop in Mexico and Canada to be further assembled before it arrives in America to be sold etc

  14. Well Well

Why ought Trump be afraid? He has a majority Republican House and Senate, the very thing the framers of the Constitution were afraid of.

And you really believe in your heart that it will change under Trump….when he and his family have been doing the same for decades…refusing to pay employees in US a workable wage, sick leave or maternity leave, hiring immigrants and illegals also for that purpose….exporting jobs to factories in mideast, Asia and India just to pay slave wages and him and his family have bigger profits. ..and oh yeah….refusing to pay taxes in the US.

The facts don’t gel with your remarks. As much as we may perceive otherwise the simply fact is that the President DOES in fact control those codes.

It is not a congressional decision. It is not a cabinet decision. It is a presidential decision.

The military officer responsible to dual match his access CANNOT refuse if the President initiates the action.

The circumstances or threat warnings precipitating his decision will vary but the issue is and will always be one of temperament about when to act.

If you are comforted that Donald Trump will not act too hastily if he gets a call of pending threats then more power to you but there is nothing we have seen of his public persona to offer such a sanguine view.

Incidentally, the ISIS folks have the perfect foil in the WH. Sometime in February coming a series of incidents starting at Trump branded property in South Korea followed by incidents in Panama or maybe Rio de Janeiro could be interesting.

ISIS are crude but inventive…. So let’s hope they don’t test Mr Trump’s narcissism as that could be an excellent review on your perspective of ‘the hogwash’ of a nuclear unhinged Trump.

He does know better than the generals how to defeat ISIS after all.

  22. The only people who can understand Trump are racist and bigots and yes they showed up in millions at the poll to exhibit there power.
The Small developing nations would be hit hard as Trump deliver those promises of making america great again, look out for high unemployment in small developing countries as Trump rips NAFTA apart his way of bringing back low paying jobs to america jobs that Americans would demand higher wages to perform
Trump might have won the war but a fierce fight and a battle has just began.

Will the people of the US and world ever get to understand the business operations to which the new President is connected and will be placing in his lovely translucent ‘blind trust’.

For example, what exactly if anything are :

    Trump Caribbean LLC
    Trump Drinks Israel Holdings LLC
Trump Drinks Israel Holdings Member Corp
    Trump Drinks Israel LLC
Trump Drinks Israel Member CorpTrump Caribbean LLC
    Trump Cozumel Corp
    Trump Cozumel LLC

We spoke about Clinton corporate excess and now go full tilt into uncharted waters of a US President as titular head of over 500 companies, some of which are likely just registered to facilitate tax benefits.

The new year will be a very exciting one for the hated media…the hunt for the Pulitzer prize on Trump investigatory pieces will be expansive.

  24. Will we finally see those Tax Returns?

  25. The Dow dropped 800 points and the US dollar has plunged. This is not a good sign of what is expected to come.

  26. What is even more dumbfounding is Trump stiffed the taxpayers for 1billion dollars “legally” and now the tax payers will be rewarding him by paying his salary “legally”

In any case these are my questions to Trump

How soon would you be building the wall?
How soon will you be sending Muslims Back to their place of origin
How soon will you be separating those children born in the USA from their parents who are living in the USA illegally

    Only three questions no more

  28. In my opinion, Donald Trump believes than money can buy everything. Perhaps it even bought him the Presidency. Has the FBI Director become a rich man?
I went to bed with an uneasy feeling and woke up with it still there. That may be the feeling of every black man, every muslim, every undocumented person, every Mexican.
It feels like going from the best President to the worst one, like confirming your fears.

I am wondering if there will be an EXODUS from this Country.

I reject the assertion that we were deliberately misled and believe it was more a failure of the metodologies employed.
    Who did they sample?
What type of sampling was performed?
Were they representative of the US population or did it contain too many of one party?
Were the respondent to the polls honest or did they mislead the pollster?

  33. Well, we were wrong also.

Could not expect a demagogue could actually win power though we conceded that we really have a fascist state, everywhere.

That the statistical data were wrong is a mis-characterization

Traditional polling methods could have been wrong, were wrong, but some polling was right.

Those methods were however not relied upon by the mainstream media.

Underlying the noise, this election shows White people in revolt.

In revolt against the establishment in Washington.

In revolt against trade agreements, the finance-capitalist state, a declining social supremacy.

The 30% of minorities had very little impact.

The emergence of Trump and Trumpism may well prove not to be the end of the beginning but the beginning of the end.

One good thing, is that nuclear war with Russia is unlikely to be immediate.

We will now refocus our artillery to Trump and Trumpism.

@Heather November 9, 2016 at 7:19 AM re “Has the FBI Director become a rich man?”—-Really. I would think that you are above that type of cheap shot?

The Wall St stuff is all smoke and mirrors. Folks had hedged their bets for a Clinton win so the market has to uncoil. Smart people made some excellent gains and others lost some. Things will settle within coming days.

The Mexican peso rates have been a bell-weather for the race for several months now. It tanked last night. So what. That too will reset today and beyond as folks assess the ‘tradewinds’.

And @ac November at 7:08 AM …that’s a good laugh. You the political operative asking about political promises.

Trump’s supporters have said repeatedly that they do not expect the man to deliver on his bigly promises and your questions all fit that bill. He will not act on any of that in the next four years and will have absolutely good reason not too.

He will have no time to implement the complex issues of immigration wall building and deporting millions of people.

There was a ‘staged’ picture of Obama recently showing his aged face. Unless Donald Trump is a chameleon of perfect form and can pivot to a governance mentality that belies his behavior of 50+ years in business he will age as fast as that image under the real-politic life as US president.

At this point one can only wish the man well. He has a nation to heal but there is no evidence that he constructed his current team towards that goal so he will need all the time and help to address the huge disconnect that is US social interface.

  35. MYOPIA IS A DISEASE Avatar
    MYOPIA IS A DISEASE

So people want to believe that it is the white supremacists that voted for Trump. Get it right. African/Americans, Hispanics, White/Americans (or whatever the rest of them are called, I say ALL Americans mix up in being American from all over the world) voted for Trump. So get the ‘white’ out of the equation. Racist perhaps can stay but that would include all the people who voted. Bigots can stay but that would also include all the people who voted. So guess what remains that is truly Trump. Rich, spoiled obnoxious megalomaniacs and Americans are not the only ones who love these type of humans. And guess who also voted for Trump. All those who have been downtrodden by these type of people who remain in poverty of mind, body, soul and bank account. Who better than to get the latter to vote for them but the Trump type, after all do we not all aspire to be rich, spoiled obnoxious megalomaniacs?

Perhaps now that the US elections are over Barbadians can look back at all the comments they made on social media as to what would be right or wrong for America, and begin to think about their own home country because this island is in need of vociferous change and hopefully will get it at election time, although this might be too late. Vociferous change is actually required NOW before matters get worse. Bring home the fervour we had for the last one and half years over America. Bring home all the ways that America needed to rectify itself. Think Barbados. Help Barbados. Concentrate on Barbados AND perhaps even fo as far as worrying about the rest of the Caribbean because we should be looking at ourselves as being one.

Yes, in the large scale of things we have to be worried about those countries we align ourselves to. But has anybody thought about how powerful we could be if we had aligned ourselves to our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean with free movement of people (not criminals), manufactured goods and that includes all we need to live by with food being the priority? Movement backed by an airline(s) and/or boat service to carry all at decent rates like how the Europeans have managed to do? (ya think they did not study how we did it in days of yore when the movement of food was done effortlessly between islands and then carried off to Europe to feed them too?).

With the technology of today, and the lessons of yesterday, we could have every island growing/manufacturing what is required for us to live (and for crying out loud forget the dyamned pepper sauces and mauby syrups. Enough already). Sustainable everything. Organic everything. Water and power galore.

These Caribbean islands are filled with a wealth that historically others from the north saw and raped. That is why we became colonies. But we are all independent now and instead of using the model that Britain, France, Holland, Spain used to feed and look after ourselves and themselves, we systematically got rid of the ‘themselves’ and then turned around and ruined everything we still had for ourselves, and have once again become tied (slaves) to those northern countries for every little thing except the same peppersauce and our other export, rum (and with the demise of sugar, we look to Central America for the use of their molasses of lower quality).

And best ever yet, when we lose yet another rich commodity that is ours to a foreigner, there is crying and gnashing of teeth and blaming and pointing of fingers instead of realizing, we did it to ourselves and should do better. Wake up and do better. There is still time.

Perhaps we can rub Trump and Clinton and Brexit out of our collective myopic eyes and insist our governments do things right or bust it out of office, instead of just only knowing how to fix every little ill of the world while turning a blind eye to ours.

Of course, we would have to make Caricom work NOW. Federation – a model we invented – was taken by Europe and made into a success and the only reason it has cracks now is because of greed but the essence is still there. We then created CARICOM and because we hate each other so, because we all want to be kingpin, because every little thing has to be MINE and not OURS, because of GREED we fail the very essence of us, of our people.

At the end of the day, it is really all up to us. We need to think about that. We need to think Caribbean and not be consumed by the disease of myopia.
