In which country does a minority race rule the majority?
In which country does a minority race rule the majority?

At present, there is a discourse on Muslims in Barbados. The following article is submitted in the hope that Barbadians would analyze things for themselves and do some reading and research.

Eighty percent of the  population of the Central African Republic is Christian. The other twenty percent is ostensibly Muslim. Ostensibly because part of the Muslim population is  non-native (illegal from Chad and so on). In the past both  Christians and Muslims lived in harmony. The Muslim rebel commander, Mr.Djotodia in the past sought funding from the “Organization of the Islamic Conference”(OIC) in Saudi Arabia in 2012 to establish a separate country.

According to the “ Wall street Journal” of 21-23 March 2014, Djotodia in a letter to OIC in 2012 stated:” We are going to transform a part of the CAR…into an Islamic republic. We are going to put into place an Islamic regime that will apply Sharia”. This is exactly what he did. He started a coup with the aid of Chad (a Muslim country), which overthrew the government.  Once in power, he burnt down churches and enforced sharia law. How can a minority of less than twenty percent of a population try to enforce its will on the majority?  That is exactly what the Muslims in the CAR did. In Muslim majority countries, non-Muslims have to toe the line, they have no right, one only has to look  at Pakistan.

  1. Is there any evidence that Sharia is being practised in Bim? Perhaps a Muslim blogger will respond.

    Mr. Lucas

You should really stick to food and stop trying to whip up racial tension in Barbados.

You are reading too much into the Muslim community that is to be constructed opposite Queen’s College. It is merely an attempt by a few Muslims who have acquired some wealth, who now think that they are better than their brothers and want to live in the heights just like black Barbadians do. That is all that it is or so the poor Muslims that I have spoken with believe.

  3. It is all well and good to suggest those Barbadians who practice the Muslim religion are a docile people. It does not relinquish the right by citizens to discuss the forming of the kind of society we we feel comfortable. Especially when Western media to which we subscribe portrays horrific imagery associated with a particular faith.

  4. In America, Dr. Lucas would not be a credible spoke person on this issue just because he is qualified in a specific area of academics. Yes, Dr. Lucas is entitled to express his constitutional right to free-speech, but that is as far as it goes. Usually, professors from reputable universies who instructs in this area of academics, are most qualified to speak on this issue. Social activists often are qualified to speak on such issue, but their motives are often question, depending on Race, religion or political inclinations.

  5. David

I do not know how often I should emphasis the point that when you utilize an Absolute to referring to a specific group of people or a religion etc, it does a disservice to those elements that aren’t party to such behavior. Yes, the Rightwing -Media in the West, perpetually characterized Islam as this religion which preaches a violent ideology, but it seldom talks about the positive work the Muslim community is doing in the Black community of America. And this negative characterization of Islam by Western media, isn’t fair and well founded for every media outlet in the West, so let’s give credit where credit is due.

  6. David

May I say that I think you very accurately suggest the right approach in this matter.

I agree with Caswell so far as he suggests that this post really adds little to the debate. Issues relating to birth rates might have done. However that there IS a debate and that there SHOULD BE a debate seems to me to be self-evident.

A recent letter from Mr Bulbulia to the Nation attacks Wild Coote and other letter writers and suggests that those critical of what is happening are (a) prejudiced, (b) ignorant and (c) Islamophobic. The writer suggests that IS people, and so presumably all other like Islamic groups. are “misguided”. Now that simply won’t do. I regard Christians who suggest gay people are in some way ‘unchristian’ to be ‘misguided’ but I don’t want to chop off their heads nor – even the most extreme of them – do they wish to kjil the fags. If they did they COULD NOT be Christian at all. I am yet to hear Mr Bulbulia suggest that IS et al are not Moslems though he says they have been “condemned”..

On the planned Moslem enclave – the issue is at root one of public policy, of what is right in our society (as you say). And that is clearly a matter for legitimate debate. And the precept of freedom of religion is also subject to a like public interest.

Nor do I think the arguments (a) we are Barbadians mostly and (b) who are hard working carry any weight. It’s all like Ebola – it’s not today which causes concern and fear. It is tomorrow and the day after – and in that sense it is right for the debate to continue. The price of liberty….and all that.

  7. David

” It does not relinguish the right by citizens to discuss the forming of the kind of society we feel comfortable”

David, if you sat around all day and listening to people besmear the image of your mother without the proper facts, how would you feel? Well, I am quite sure many of the Muslim brothers and sister feel a sense of resentment after hearing the religious bigotry being pontificated by the BU community.

Enough said on that issue, but in a democratic society: one is at liberty to discuss the issues of Race, Religion, morality, Sexuality and politics etc, but there ought to be a sensitive and respect when one decides to deliberate these issues because real people with real emotions are connected to this issues. David, it does not give one the right to say and do as he or she likes with respect to a given religion because he or she is entitled to do so by the political process. The very concept of freedom of speech, also comes with a responsibility that everyone ought to be conscientious of.

  8. It is easy to be lured into a accepting a simplistic argument. The discussion must be located in the clash of civilizations and religions spectrum. BU has hosted several blogs probing the impact of ethnic groups on a predominant Black population. What cannot be denied is the clannish characteristic of those of the local Muslim faith and other religions/groups. Juxtapose this with the support ISIS for example has been getting from ordinary Muslims in the ME who at the core maintain an emotional attachment to representing the fundamentals of Islam. It does not take much for the arrangement in Barbados to become unravelled.

How BU would love to hear the late Lindsay Holder participating in this debate.

  9. Dompey

‘The work the Moslem community is doing in the black community’….if I were cynical I would say ‘Oh sure…to make converts and breed jihadists’. Islam does seem to have a very special appeal to the marginalized, the no-hopers and the psychotic. We in the West politically stand firm on the issue of women’s rights. Why then do so many young women convert to Islam?

  10. Barbados is a Christian you should be able to practice whatever religion you believe in. But we must never allow separate communities to be set up in this little island… We have very short memories but I remember what Jim Jones did in Guyana. Islamic communities belong in Islamic countries Barbadians do not need to be strangers in their own lands.

  11. Dr. Lucas I agree with you,
Robert ross Sharia is already practicing in Barbados, do you expect a Muslim to say yes we practice Sharia law.
Caswell Franklyn you should do what Dr.Lucas said, do your own research, if you do your own research you would come back and say sorry to
    Dr.Lucas,
David how long do you think you would be comfortable in Barbados, it seem like you people just don’t care if Islam rule Barbados,
Why Muslim target the back community, because easy conversation to Islam.
Do you know the muslim women are told to have so many children in order that muslim control the world, because white, black etc only have two per family, JESUS PLEASE COME QUICKLY

  12. David

I don’t think anyone can sensibly criticize BU for being extreme and insensitive on this issue.

  13. G MAN WELL SAID

  14. Bimlady

On Sharia…what IS the evidence? If you have it please tell. The point is critical. But of course I invite Moslems to address this. Indeed, if they don’t the silence would be astonishing and might reasonably lead to only one conclusion.

  15. Gman

The law does not support your desire to see the elimination of isolated communities in Barbados. As long as the citizens obeys the prescribed mandates of the civil law, he or she ought to be at liberty to live as he or she chooses.

  16. Ross

Religion is view by many as a private issue and therefore, is it wrong to request that a Muslim debate whether or not Sharia law is being practiced in Barbados. Now, if Sharia law undermines the values of a democratic society, then the legislative arm of government has a moral as well as constitutional duty, to implement such legislation which would prevent such practices from according on the island of Barbados.

  17. how does one come to the assumption mr.lucas is in agreement with the articles he quotes.mayber lucas is just playing “devils Advocate”

  18. Dompey

IF Sharia is practised In Bim there would be alternative legal systems at work. A legal system lies at the heart of statehood. Ergo…..Now that IS something which a Moslem should address. It is NOT a private matter.

You know very well that in the US religion is NOT a private matter. The assertion of religion, and the legal consequences following therefrom, has come before the Supreme Court time and again.

  19. Ross

The right to worship or not to is a private decision in the United States of America. The state cannot force a citizen to worship a nationally approved religion. There is a principle in the First Amendment of the United State Constitution called the Free-Exercise -clause. And all this simply means is, that a citizen is at liberty to worship or not worship as he or she sees fit. Now, a lot of the cases which the Supreme Court dealt with in the past had to with application of religion rather the right to religion in itself. Example, they are some religions which practices animal sacrifices in America, but the law does not allow this practice or application but it cannot prevent the person from practicing the other aspects of his or her religion. So if Sharia law undermines the legal as well as moral convention of the Barbados society ,then the legislature can enact legislation to deter such practices.

  20. I have dealt with many Muslim traders here in B’dos over the last thirty years, in the cloth business; all where relatively decent folks; within the context of how Muslims conduct themselves with non-Muslims; peaceful, polite, prompt payers of goods ordered. i still have a few Muslim business dealings, and they are all very pleasant to deal with.

However, since 9/11, things have changed drastically, especially the Islamists, Jihadists, wing of radical Islamism!

The question, therefore is: to what extent, could there be some covert element of Radical Islamic Jihadists, residing right here within the otherwise,
    apparently peaceful Islamic community!?

I understand from someone I know, who has contacts within the Islamic teaching community, that there IS* some who foster such radical Islamic ideology!

A masterpiece of covert undercover activity, was released in 2009, by P. David Gaubarz and Paul Sperry, entitled, ‘Muslim MAFIA, Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America, the preface of this book, reads:

“This book and its findings are supported by reams of exclusive documentary evidence, including several boxes of confidential files obtained legally, if clandestinely, from the national offices of the Counci on American-Islamic Relations, the inner sanctum of the Muslim mafia in America.”

“CAIR, which calls itself an advocate for Muslim-americans, has operated largely in secret since its inception fifteen years ago. as a ninprofit group, it is exempt from paying federal income taxes and is protected from disclosing the identities of its financial donors.”

These sensitive files, which have been gleaned without CAIR’s knowledge, contain more than twelve thousand pages of documents that collectively amount to a smoking gun linking the nation’s preeminent Islamic lobby group to terrorism, fraud, and sedition.”

“Sheet to sheet, the pages of evidence would stretch more than two miles, or the length of about thirty-fiver football fields. Staked on top of each other, the boxes of printed material would weigh nearly a quarter of aton and require a forklift to move.”

What has all of this to do with the Islamic community here in B’dos? I don’t really know! Except to say that CAIR’s staff and leader’s in the USA, are mostly highly educated men, some Ph.D’s all covertly infiltrating the US government agencies, with one ultimate goal and purpose, to bring America under Islamic Sharia law, some day!

  21. Ross

One more important point about the Free-Exercise -Clause: the framers of the constitution of America, came to the continent to escape religious persecution and government oppression, must like what Islam is potentially going to face in Barbados in the not to distant future. Now, the framers of the American Constitution, advocated religious freedom and try to prevent any one religion or group of religious organizations from dominating or imposing its will or belief on the entire society. So Ross, are you condemning Sharia law on the basis of Christian morality or atheistic empathy?

  22. Zoe

Tell them about it Zoe…. I have three good friends here in America who happens to be Muslims, and they’re three of the nicest human beings I have dealt with thus far. But it seems as those a lot of the ill-informed Barbadians have allow their irrational fears and conspiracy theories, which have been intricately designed by the Western propaganad machine to undermined the image of Islam.

  23. Dompey

As you seem to know very well the Supreme Court has had to determine time and again whether this or that is a ‘religion’ and, indeed, what a religion is. In that sense ‘religion’ is not a private matter. Nor is it a private matter under our Constitution since the freedoms it protects are subject to the interests of others and the public interest.

So far as Islam is concerned – whatever it is precisely – I have no objection as a Christian in principle. The problem is to decide what it is, what it can be and what it is made to do. This is not a question of western propaganda as you try to suggest. That argument is totally fatuous. But I repeat, I do not write as a Christian anything. In fact these days I reject all religions of any bloody book. If you want to write about Sufis and Sufism and recite me the poetry of Rumi and Hafiz, that’s another story. But then remind me how the Sufi masters were treated by fellow Muslims.

On Sharia my point stands and is clear enough.

  24. Zoe

Your account of inter-action mirrors my own. Likewise the law of averages suggests that we are not immune from radical Islam IF that’s what it should be called.

Dompey…the suggestion that those of us who are concerned are either stupid or bigots….go tell that to the thousands upon thousands of corpses across the globe in the name of Islam. Or are they propaganda figments?

  25. Ross

What I was trying to establish is the fact that Religion is matter for the courts as well as the legislative arm of government to decide, and not the private citizen. In my estimation, to ask a person to debate any aspect of his or her Religion, amounts to the psychological equivalent of asking him, to whom did their voted for in the last election. I just think that it belies the proper social decorum to invade one’s personal sacrosanctity by asking such as question. But perhaps, I am simple- minded and antiquated in my outlook with respect to Religion. So to conclude: on a person to person basis, Religion amounts to a private issue and not for the private citizen to decide on its validity. Now, with respect to Sharia law: if any aspect of a Religion wars against the proper harmony as well as moral standards of a given society, then it ought to be confronted with the tools of Reason, Common-sense and the civil law, as a basis for disallowing such practices. Now, to address your second point: yes Islamic extremism continues to exact a heavy cost on human life throughout the world. But it undermines the foundation truth for one to exclusive accused Islamic of this moral evil, when written upon the pages of history books are many examples of atrocities committed in the name of religion. The Catholic Church stood silent and watched Adolf Hitler conducted his genocidal extermination of the Jewish people etc.

  26. that is the problem good people standing back silent as fanatics rule the day which suggests to me they in someway condone it or are hedging their bets . I can only hope the 100 virgins they get are boys

  27. Zoe
Not only bring America under the Sharia Law, some day, England, Canada and the whole world if we let them, I head a Hindu said the only good Muslim is a DEAD Muslim. check out “Why Hindu hate Islam”

  28. Hello Bimlady:

If you are the “old” Bimlady, this here is “Bajans”. Wellcome to BU.

  29. let me had my comments with some one on another site regarding Muslim. We always hear some Muslim with the saying Jihadist isis don’t represent the majority of Muslim or the teaching of the Koran which is peaceful, so why don’t we hear that from the majority of Muslim loudly and on a regular basis. Why didn’t they speak out on the mob in counties that destroy Christian Churches and kill hundred of innocent worshiper?( beheading) Why don’t we hear them demand that believers in other faith in Muslim majority counties like Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Iran and Iraq, Why don’t we hear that they respect other religions, why don’t they respect Jesus Christ as much as they would like others to respect Islam and the Prophet Mohammad? Why do they remain silent when people of other religion are considered or called infidels and KAFIRS” by all the practitioners of Islam? or do they SECRETLY believe the same things as the radical Islamists but just don’t say it publicly why the silent, what do the peace loving majority of Muslims really think, and by the way respect for all religion and for Jesus Christ is a two way street if you want respect for your faith and prophet then start giving respect to other religions, JESUS CHRIST who died for your sins, who tell us Christians we must love you, it is hard to love people like you, respect our churches, Temples, you live by the sword you shall die by the sword.
look at Lebanon in 1967 allowed Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and we all know that Muslims want to take over the world, and they believe they can because they can marry many wives so their number go fast, that is why there are less Christian in Lebanon today.

  30. Bajans I was just checking your birthday last week it’s in the back of my address book, what happen to your friend bimbro and all the others, are you in Canada or Barbados.

  31. I am not interested in what happened in the past. I am interested in NOW. I am not concerned that a Pope did nothing. I am far more concerned that an article of faith of Hamas is the destruction of Israel, that – in the name of Allah – innocent people are beheaded and that the modus operandi of these so-called ‘radical’ Islamists is ‘join us or we’ll kill you.’ – and all by reference to the Koran and the mores of 1500 years ago.

I realize that there are Moslems who speak out vehemently. I do not question the sincerity of people like Mr Bulbulia.

Our Moslem friends are strangely silent on Sharia law. Of course I do understand that Sharia operates at various levels. What a woman wears or doesn’t wear is really of no great interest to me – iike the dress code in churches. Prayers are clearly a private matter. What does concern me is the application of an alternative criminal code of offences and penalties and ‘civil’ rules relating to marriage, divorce and succession in our midst. Surely our Moslem friends can discuss that. Indeed, wouldn’t Allah want the record set straight in the name of truth?

  32. “In which country does a minority race rule the majority?”
    ++++++++++++
    ….mean besides Barbados?

  33. An aside with apologies to David

I have just seen the most beautiful advert on the TV where ‘mothers’ insist they will protect their kids against sexual abuse.

What then of the case reported in Wednesday’s Nation which began its life in 2009 and still hasn’t come to trial? An absolute disgrace. Relevant functionary…DO SOMETHING.

  34. Why is it that here in America, Islam seems to be the only religion which makes productive citizens out of the incarcerated Black male? Malcolm X, and a countless number of Black males in America, are the prime examples of the positive influenced Islam has had in the West.

  35. David, have you heard of the Nigerian scientist Philip Emeagwali and the immeasurable contributed this Black Muslim man has made to advancement of the Internet? This Black Muslim man is called the father of the internet, but of course White people would never teach this in the schools of America. Every Black kid ought google the Name Philip Emeagwali. And I am talking about a young man David. PLEASE GOOGLE THIS MAN’S NAME DAVID!

  36. Sorry for the mistakes above…. I am just emotional talk about this brilliant intellect who came to America as a refugee back in the 1970s.

  37. Please google the name Philip Emeagwali and see what immeasurable contribution this Black Muslim man has made to the advancement of the Internet, and yet the average Black person has never heard of him. I followed the work of this man some ten years ago and he really impressed me with his rare intellect.

  38. Georgie Porgie, the Nigerian Scientist an engineer Dr. Philip Emeagwali, is a Mathematically genius who broke a complex Mathematical code which gave the internet its speed.

  39. @Bimlady

David, you must excuse me here. This is an old compadre.

No, I am still in Canada. Hope to be on the rock in Jaunary for about 6 weeks. Alas, only Bimbro and Adrian Hinds have been on this blog. Bimbro came with such nonsense, and the BU family being so outspoken, that the eventually decamped. Of course, he came back twice under different monikers, but I picked him out in the blink of an eye. How could one miss him with all the !!!!!!!

It is good to see you fighting the good cause as usual. How is your book coming along? You could teach this Dompey person a thing or two. He let us know that he has ‘high intellect’. Funny thing is, with all this intellect, he cant string five words together. He is the new Bimbro. Plus he knows everything about everything, even calling a mammal a bird. lol.

  40. Pat the Hebrew Scriptures defines the Bat as a Bird and not Dompey my dear.

Leviticus (11:13-19)— These moreover, you should detest among the BIRDS; they are abhorrent not to be eaten: the eagle and the vulture and the buzzard,14 and kite and the falcon in its kind, 15 every raven in its kind, 16 an the ostrich and the owl and the sea gull and the hawk in its kind 17 and the little owl and the cormorant and the great owl, 18 and the white owl and the pelican and the carrion vulture, 19 and stork, the heron in its kinds and hoopoe and the “(BAT)”.

God stated unequivocally and categorically, that the BAT is a BIRD in this passage of Scripture.

  41. Dompey

I looked up Mr Emeagwali. I note simply that he is not afraid of self-advertisement and he seems to have had a ‘degree’ of difficulty.. It is he who describes himself – so far as I can see – as the “Father of the Internet No 1”. I am glad that a Nigerian has been successful, however. I am not surprised that his name is unknown. It is NOT a white suppression thing. Whoever heard of Alan Turing? But if we’re playing ‘look what a Moslem can do’ let me add ‘look what a gay person can do’.

  42. Ross

You may have forgotten, but President Clinton characterized Dr. Philip Emeagwali, as one of the top scientist in the world during one of his State of the Union Addresses in the 1990s. Ross, Dr. Emeagwali, gained international acclaimed close to two decades now, but if you go to Utube you will see him as a young man traveling to the Caribbean and given lectures in the 1990’s. Ross, just going to Utube and I can assure you that you will ascertain a better understanding of who this man is and the forces which gave rise to this brilliant intellect.

  43. Pat, this you ought to bear in mind: I am writing on an antiquated phone without the aid of spell- check and I have for quite sometime now. So please excuse my many mistakes. A cuntputer will be soon in the works.

Pat as I have shown above, the Bat by Biblical definition is Bird. And I therefore, do not have to insult your intelligence by the use of gutter language; I shall use what knowledge I have to make an ass out of you. Now, Pat, let me put it this way: anything that I have claim to be factual on this blog, I have always supported it with corroborative and substantiative evidence. Bush Tea, Georgie Porgie, Pachamama, Miller artax, and troop of others antagonists learned this lesson very quickly because I have made an ass out of all of them at some point on this blog. As I shall soon do with you, if continue with your ignorances Pat. YOU DON’T KNOW ME FROM ADAM GIRL, AND IT IS THEREFORE WITHIN YOU BEST INTEREST TO ASK ABOUT ME BEFORE YOU ACCOMPANY THE CHOSEN NUMBER ABOVE MY DEAR. Now, I shall see you later this morning and the both of us sould have a talk yaa hear?

Pat, it is interesting to note that the Biblical definition of a bird is predicated upon its ability to fly. And the Bat being capable of flight was defined as a bird in Biblical times. Then here comes modern science which tell us that the Bat is a placental mamnal, which simply means that it bears young and therefore, it cannot be classified a bird because a Bird lays eggs.

  44. @ Dompey
    LOL
    Hah
Ha ha ha ha …… Oh shiirt!!!!
    ….Muh belly ……

    @ David
Boss, don’t you think you should have some mercy on Dompey ….?
    …..and ban his tail from BU….? 🙂

He can always come back as “ABBUTS”
😷 – “Ass Banned from BU for Talking Shiite”

  45. Dompey

Yes, I saw the Clinton accolade and concluded he was not an especially reliable witness. BUT I don’t doubt what you say about the fella’s brilliance. The rest stands.

  46. Bush Tea

Now, do you want to talk about it? I am quite sure this blog was designed for the intent purpose of informing the ill-informed. So let’s have your contribution bro….I am sick and tired of your regurgitated bull… Now if you want to help the blog and those who are seeking answers, start reading because education never ends bro….

    Bush Tea

Now come bro… think about it fundamentally, can you honestly say without the fear of contradiction, that your contribution here on BU, has in any way made a diiferences to the efforts of the blog, as well as the ill-informed who are seeking knowledge. To be quite honest bro… I have founded your presence here to be more of an irritant, and I am trying my best to be as respectful as I can.

  47. LOL @ Dompey the little donkey….
Try to follow this slowly Domps….
Bushie carries a big WHACKER and spreads lots of salt around. It is only natural that slugs, worms, snails and weeds would be irritated by the bushman….
No need to be respectful boss….. darkness will ALWAYS be irritated by light, and ignorance by wisdom……ask ac….
In other words……BBE is in the chair and all is going according to the master plan.

….what would REALLY scare Bushie is a situation where you seem to understand the ways of BBE and where you are NOT irritated by the whacker…. Shiite fella….THAT would mean that the END is imminent… 🙂 …and that Bushie would have to pull out the big lawn mower ….

  48. Now, Bushie, I am off to Church with the old lady and the kids. See you in about three hours and please contemplate what I have conveyed to you hear. You’re sucking the little energy from the blog with your incessant critique. We serious have to take a vote on your contribution to the blog bro.

  49. Bush Tea, do you have a problem with Punctuation? And why do you use so many Eclipses in a sentence? And why haven’t I seen you utilize a Semi-Colon or a Colon in a sentence, since I have been on BU?

  50. @ Bush Tea,

Stop using so many Eclipses. You might create a shortage.
